First time at Gibsons and honestly this place blew me away. We sat outside on the patio right by the waterfall, the atmosphere was incredible. The place was busy but alive, and the staff was attentive and friendly. I wasn’t super hungry so I kept it simple and ordered the Prime Ribeye Steak Sandwich with grilled tomato, baby arugula, and horseradish cream. Wow. Hands down the best sandwich I’ve ever had. The ribeye was cooked medium, super tender and juicy, every bite packed with flavor. The horseradish cream gave it just the right kick without being too much, and everything together just worked. That sandwich was memorable, one of those meals that sticks with you. Next time I’m definitely going for a full steak, but even just the sandwich showed me why this place has the reputation it does. Best spot in town, no doubt.

What's there to say about Gibsons that hasn't been said? Food is outstanding. Steaks are the absolute best. Even the soup is terrific. Service is also top-tier. Yes, it can be a little pricey, but the quality of the food is tops. Can't wait to go back!

Google
Truly one of the best if not the best steakhouse around everything was top notch from the steak to the sides and even the wine 👌 and the staff was excellent if you are looking for a fine dining experience i highly recommend coming here ...

Google
Let me start with the food, i had the filet mignon 14oz as medium rare and it was amazing. Perfect on the inside with an amazing char on the outside. I loved it. I will be back for that steak. The lobster tail was very good wouldn’t say it was the best I’ve had but still very good. Now on the other hand, the French fries were amazing. As funny as it sounds, i could not stop eating the French fries. The environment was nice, outdoor seating was nicer. The bathrooms were clean. Service was good.

We arrived much earlier than our reservation, but we weren't seated until the exact reservation time. It appeared that Gibsons has added more tables and it feels very crowded and the noise leave made it difficult to converse at times. Our server was pleasant and attentive. We had a variety of drinks, wine, mahattans, and a cosmopolitan. We all opted for the house salad instead of soup, of which you have a choice that is included. Main courses were zwR Chicago Cut ribeye, bone in strip steak, prime rib, and salmon. Sides were asparagus, Brussel sprouts, mushrooms, hash brown, and mashed potatoes. The sides are large, but you have the option of half size sides which we all took advantage of. They provided a dessert as we were celebrating 2 birthdays. Everything we ordered was delicious and meats were all prepared at the temperatures as ordered. True to their reputation, Gibsons is highly rated which we feel is well deserved. It's always an excellent experience here.

Google
This is a lovely high-end venue with amazing customer service. I would recommend this location for your events. Had a great catering menu and we hosted an evening cocktail reception in a dedicated bar area with outdoor space. I’m still thinking about all of the food that was served there! Complimentary valet parking as well.

Google
Dinner at Gibsons Steakhouse in Oakbrook—an upscale spot with truly top-notch steak. The filet and ribeye were excellent, and everything was cooked to perfection. The service was good. That said, the dining room is packed tight and the noise level makes conversation a challenge. The meal aso felt rushed that we were in and out in one hour and forty minutes. Gibsons delivers on the food, no question. Just be ready for a lively (and loud) night out.

Google
It is an absolute favorite steakhouse! Stacy, our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional! While they have outdoor sitting, we sat inside. Decision we'd regret as with the number of guests it felt the air-conditioning was not working making the experience a bit uncomfortable. The ambiance was lively. The food was delicious, as is the selection of wines they offer. Have been there a number of times, certainly a favorite, I definitely recommend. Another added treat is the free valet, which adds to the convenience and overall experience. Thank you for the birthday treat!

Yelp
Spent a delightful summer afternoon in the beautiful outdoor space. The food is very good, the service exceptional and the ambiance is exactly what I look for in outdoor seating. The crab cake is a must-have and there is no better place for perfectly prepared steak.

Yelp
Truly a 10/10 experience. You know when you walk in there the staff is knowledgeable and attentive. Everything we had was amazing. I got a Caesar salad, Australian NY strip and warmed cookie with ice cream for dessert. My steak was so tender and cooked perfectly. It was a very busy night with large parties and a packed bar but the service was still extremely quick. I love that they have free valet which made it easy to run in on a very cold night.

Yelp
One of the better cooked steaks I've had in a long time, had the Chicago cut bone in ribeye. Was delicious, perfectly medium, rare, and a nice Cabernet. Sad at the bar and was able to watch basketball on the TV. Quick and attentive service nice upscale, laid-back ambience. You can tell this place really cares about its locals and gets to know people very well.

Yelp
First time here, visiting a friend in Chicago. Upscale place, valet only, packed with happy people on a Tuesday night. The servers are buzzing around, service is nothing short of top notch. And the menu. An endless selection of steaks. The waiter shot down our selections and convinced us all to try the Chicago cut. Oh boy, it is simply outstanding. It has an aggressive char but not burnt taste. We saw the next table getting a cake and we had to try it. Be prepared it is the size of your head, ice cream with a delicious macadamia crust. We all had 22 oz steaks and we had no problem eating it, it was so good. The cocktail and wine selection is also wonderful. Be ready to pay $100 per head. Worth it.

Yelp
We celebrated my husband's birthday here this past week & what can I say- we LOVED our experience here! the price is fair for the large portions you get and everything is high quality! The service is great, our server was wonderful!! he sent us home with a birthday cake since we were celebrating (and that was enormous omg) We also decided to sit on the patio & the vibes, the waterfall noises, and closed space really made for an intimate feel that felt farther away from the Oak Brook Mall & parking lot, which is hard to do! overall, we will be back for more celebrations in the future!

Yelp
Fabulous steaks and service. We celebrated our wedding anniversary there tonight. Superb steaks, mushroom soup and delicious creamed spinach. Our server, Georgio, couldn't have been better: attentive without being obtrusive. A wonderful evening!!

Yelp
This was my second time experience at Gibsons. It's been many years and this was at lunch. First was at dinner in New Years eve about 6 years ago. We made our boys dress up but found out once we got there lunch is less dressy. Knowing where we were going forgot it is valet only. We are not valet kind of people so we parked a little bit away and walked in. Plenty of room but did reserve a table for a birthday. Music was in when we got there and satellite must have gone off shortly after. So that was a little odd. This is such a busy restaurant. There are some things that need updating. Maybe time to paint and redo some accessories. A few mini lampshades were crooked and incant help myself but be bothered -lol. Waiter staff was amazing!! Professional, prompt and so friendly. Never had to think about asking for water and got more bread easily. Onto the food. 5 stars. Crapcake app was delicious. Moist, crunchy outside. Large: so we cut into 4 to share. Loved the sauce. Brussel sprouts: maple and bacon. Win I got the halibut special. Nice big piping hot, cooked just right. Beyond satisfied. My husband and son got the filet. Both were very happy. Then other son got the steak sandwich. He did not talk which means it's teenager approved. A stack of fries to share. Love Gibsons/ Hugo's fries always. Fresh but, thin fried on the max which is always a win. Overall love this place. Not a place we frequent but great for milestones.

Yelp
We celebrated Easter at Gibsons and had a great time! We ordered a variety of dishes from filet mignon to the Gold Coast sliders, creamed spinach, and mashed potatoes. The sides were okay but I really enjoyed adding the unique Gibsons seasoning to the mashed potatoes to spice it up a bit. To be very honest - I enjoyed the fries the most. They were seasoned very well, perfectly warm, and although the sliders were small they were super flavorful! The service was a bit slow as it was a very busy day but we were never without water and our server had great recommendations for us. Gibsons has a classy ambiance, perfect for special occasions!

Yelp
Love the restaurant! The best steakhouse I've ever been to. The waiter was attentive and helpful in selecting the meals. Ambiance is business casual with kids welcome and seems like the perfect place to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, etc. I would highly recommended coming here!

Yelp
Love the staff the food the service and the people watching The outside patio is amazing and the bar is always fun as well

Yelp
Gibsons is always a great go to when you want a no frills meal that will be cooked properly. We were given a choice of sitting inside or outside with the heaters, and we should have chosen outdoor seating. Indoors was crowed and loud, but that's the ambiance and charm of the place. Service was spot on, my water glass was never close to empty, we were very well taken care of and even got a complimentary crème brûlée for our anniversary! The whitefish was cooked perfectly, tasty and still moist. The prime rib was melt in your mouth delectable and the horseradish sauce was divine! Gibsons has been around for a while, and I don't see it going anywhere. The food is always well done and we always feel so well taken care of.

Yelp
My husband and I came here on Thanksgiving but also to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. It was very crowded, but we had our reservation and we told them we were celebrating our Anniversary on our reservation. We were seated right away but was very disappointed in where they put us. A small table right in front of the kitchen door with major traffic all around and every waiter going in and out of the kitchen. The food was delicious, service was attentive but I left with a less than favorable opinion. As I looked around, there were many of the booths filled with just 2 people. What should have felt like a celebration for me turned into feeling pure aggravation.

Yelp
From an ambiance standpoint, I can't believe how huge this place is. It seemed to go on forever. We went in the Monday before Christmas and it was absolutely jampacked. Took about 20 minutes delay for us to get seated for our 6:15 reservation. We ordered the prime rib, a miso glazed Chilean Seabass, plus cream spinach and twice baked potato as a side. I was pleased that they had a $12 glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. Beer was $9. Total bill about $200, so fair according to Chicago steakhouse prices.

Yelp
Brought my team here for our holiday party. Service was phenomenal, all the steaks were cooked perfectly. The salads are delicious but one of the unexpected surprises was dessert. We got a slice of the carrot cake which was delicious and could feed an army. Highly recommend Gibsons!

Yelp
Great steak !!! cocktails ....eh oysters yummy!!! Carrot cake Australian lobster tail = ‍ soup yummy too fries ‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍we, party of 2, sat in a booth (we were asked booth or table)) .....decor =dated, old, nothing to brag about.... service = server was prompt and somewhat dry, not very detailed in explaining the menu, it was our first time there ... bus boy was very nice and polite. We sat in between two other booths, seemed like this was the row of booths for the brown lower class clientele, the other two booths consisted of older men w their sugar babies......do steakhouses do this ?? Group people by their color or class ??? Next time go into a steakhouse and pay attention to that....we tipped 20% like we always do

Yelp
I absolutely love Gibsons! I usually go to the one on Rush but since I've moved I come to the one in Oakbrook . There is a complete difference in the atmosphere and service. What I want to talk about is the service I received today. It wasn't even busy and I got shit service from the bartender alki. It was only three of us at the bar and I get having regulars. But to completely ignore me to a point one of your waitress had to tell you "she wants another drink" do freaking better. Black people also have money. Thank you Cory for making my lunch better and being attentive .

Yelp
This was our first time at Gibsons. This is surprising as we have been to many of the other steak houses. The place is hopping and that gives it a cool feel. The host had great service. She explained our wait and what table and then walked over to get us when it was ready. The server was nice but she seemed rushed. She checked all the boxes but just felt like she was doing her best to get all her tables taken care of. We both got steak and ordered a few sides. My husband got the NY strip and I got a small filet. He is strip was great. Cooked perfect. My filet was just ok. I expected more from what I had heard and the prices. It wasn't the best shape/cut so even though I ordered it medium the middle was medium rare and the sides were more medium well. The flavor was good but the cook wasn't great, I think it was because it was more of an end piece of the tenderloin. We ordered the hash browns, double cooked potato, 1/2 asparagus and 1/2 mushrooms. The star of our table was the double cooked potato. It was AMAZING! I highly suggest this. We didn't do desserts because we wanted the chocolate moose pie but it is the size of a football so was too much for 2 people. It looked so good tho - the table next to us seemed to love it! We would go back but I think I would either switch to the NY strip or try one of their fish dishes.

Janet F.

Yelp
Always get the prime rib sliders for lunch. You get three hearty sliders and i substitute cole slaw instead of fries. Around 20.00. Service always excellent
google avatar

Kathy W.

Yelp
Service was excellent, ambiance did not meet our expectations as we were seated in a small room where we could hardly hear each other. Poor acoustics to the point we should have asked to be moved. Food was just alright, steak was heavily seasoned, doubled baked potato we felt was overcooked and very bland. I have to say for the price we paid we were disappointed.
google avatar

Yelp
I don't write reviews often. I've been to many Gibsons locations, including this one, many times over the last 20+ years. Let's cut to the chase. The bartender here makes terrible drinks. I asked for my martini stirred "really really well" and he just swished it around a shaker cup for about 15 seconds. He remade it after I confronted him about it (drink sat untouched for over 10 minutes) and after I instructed him how to use a bar spoon, he stirred it well, then added an extra splash of booze on top for some reason. I didn't touch that one either. The shrimp cocktail was not cleaned properly and I found myself scraping shell and excrement from the shrimp before summoning a manager to send it back. Biggest foul was that I watched a server in the bar take a glass of water that had been served to a high top table, and pour it back into the pitcher sitting next to me at the bar. That water was very soon thereafter poured into another glass and served to another patron. WTF. This location needs a major overhaul/training/improvement.
google avatar

Lupe G.

Yelp
A bit busy and steak was a little bit overdone but the staff was incredibly attentive and all the food was delicious. It's a bit pricy but I'm willing to try it again

Yelp
Food was not As I expected I wanted to have my lobster grilled But they only broil It which made My lobster Tuff to chew it and Trust Me I have some Good teeth but I had to be careful Not To Choke The steak Was Char Burned On the outside but raw on the inside Gibson lost It's Magic or They are Not being careful On the grill Needs to be cleaned Service was a little But on edge since the server was kind Or rushing us I told Her we had work in the kitchen Before and My husband was a chef to make The food Good for us. It seems to me now is about how fast they serve you to get To the next Person I felt Rushed. The only thing I loved was the crème Brûlée which was so tasty. Ambiance was busy for the weekday. Gibsons used to be my favorite place to eat for The steak and Lobster Now I think Red lobster does A better Jon for less Money. I Almost Forgot The house Salad The server said it was Italian with blue cheese so I said ok let Me Have the Italian Dressing for My salad Since it has blue cheese nope Not one crumb of Blue cheese on my salad. I was not about to complain Since my husband was with me and he is a chef so he hates for me To send or say something about the food I was so disappointed at Gibson since it was my birthday and the food was so bland the steak char burned And salad did not have the blue cheese or let The Server know what the serving and not saying what is not in the salad I will Not Be coming back Sorry it was or $500.00 For 2 and $100.00 Tip Which I don't Think the server should gotten that much but it only your birthday one time A year

Yelp
Food was good ! Had 14oz $75 filet that seemed smaller then the 14oz they presented like a piece was cut off. I understand that they shrink sometimes when cooking I know from experience they don't shrink that muxh. Service was good. Ambience was good tables very close to each other yet we enjoyed

Foodies88 H.

Yelp
Classic Chicago upscale steak and seafood. Rush street is where we have usually experienced this restaurant attached to Hugos Frog Bar. Seemed friendlier and less pretentious than Rush here. Drinks, water, bread and other requests come quickly. Lots of people helping and working which is rare to see anymore. Excellent service. Whitefish and whipped potatoes entree rivals best restaurants in upper Michigan. Crusty buttery but not served in a pool of butter or sauce, wooden plate. If I were hungrier I would have ordered the Grilled Asparagus too. Steaks are usually great also but we were looking for something lighter. Hot day but restaurant was warm about 73 in comparison to the bar about 67. This was at 9:00 pm and 85 degrees outside. Someone else commented about the valet parking only in their parking area which seemed odd.
google avatar

Gracie V.

Yelp
Amazing food. Best double baked potato I've ever had. Must try their seafood tower items! Can't go wrong w the classic ribeye!! Don't forget the macadamia and carrot cake desserts. Love this place and location will definitely be back again! 10/10

Yelp
I came here for a private dinner event, so did not have the ordinary dining experience, but was able to enjoy a bunch of the food / drink options at Gibson's. We started off with the seafood platter, which featured very large jumbo cocktail shrimp (very tasty) and fresh oysters. I then got a house salad, which was very ordinary, although on the large side. For my main course, I ordered the filet mignon. It was cooked to a nice medium rare level, with some pinkness on the inside. I understand that a properly cooked steak is supposed to have some char on the outside, but I think there was a bit too much char on this one, as it bordered on just being burned. Still, this top quality cut of steak was very tender, juicy, lean, and tasty. Another slight point for improvement was that it could've been a bit more flavorful / seasoned. It was also a bit smaller than I would've hoped for though. The steak came with some potatoes, which were cooked very well - slightly crispy and lightly seasoned. For dessert, I tried both the strawberry shortcake and carrot cake. The strawberry shortcake was very good and moist. I liked the carrot cake even more though, as it also had some raisins inside to add some sweetness (not much carrot flavor actually though). To drink, they have a lot of different options at the bar. I got a moscato, which was light and high quality. The place itself has a very upscale, classy, and classic American restaurant vibe. The staff are all very friendly, helpful, and professional. The service speed is pretty quick. The place is decently sized and can get quite busy, particularly if there are large parties there for events. Overall, while there are certain points for improvement, Gibson's is a high quality classic Chicago spot for more formal and fancy dinners - it's definitely a bit pricey, but can be worth it for a special occasion.

Yelp
Top performer in bar dining and service! Bartender John served up my "warm up drink"... a Manhattan on a rock. Great social and single scene at the bar. Come to discover I was sitting next to dude who both lived in SoFla (South Florida for you amateurs) and Scottsdale. Small world. After a few Pinot Noirs, I could only do a shrimp cocktail and a double baked potato. Maybe not the best option for a fine steakhouse, yet the perfect meal. Return customer for sure when in Oak Brook for business!

Robert H.

Yelp
Best steak ive had in a long time andcthe fries were out of this world great. Waiter was fantastic. When i get back to Chicago I'm definitely making another stop here.

Ann A.

Yelp
we were in there on 9/13 to celebrate our anniversary because we had done the same in 2023 and it couldn't have been better. In 2023 to be clear. but on 9/13/25 it was a big disappointment! if our bill had been $300.00 I would not have complained had the service and the food been better. the server never asked if we were celebrating anything as they had in 2023. he wasn't sure about the menu or what kind of drinks you served. the prime rib was dry and thin. did not ask if we wanted dessert. when we asked for our check he brought us drinks we hadn't ordered. he had absolutely no personality. I asked the hostess on the way out if your servers were told to leave their personalities and smiles outside. the gentleman clearing the dirty plates was the nicest person there. the hostess asked if we wanted to speak to the manager and we said we did not. our dinner and evening had already been ruined. did not see that he could have made it any better. I wasn't going to give this even one star but this won't let you post your review if you don't. Will never go back. Sullivans inNaperville was epic the next night.

LoLo S.

Yelp
Never ever a miss. I love the consistency of this place. Everything always comes out perfectly as expected and the service is always fantastic.

Diane D.

Yelp
We had a conference there today and it was very nice!! Service was good and the food was yummy!!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is epic! It's obviously not cheap but you come here for special occasions. They serve Some of the smoothest filet mingon I have ever tasted here! Fries are good, drinks are dangerously strong and desserts are massive. I'll definitely return for future celebrations of special occasions.

Yelp
A great goto lunch spot at in the bar of course. Favorite is sliders but everything is really good. One of the best cheeseburgers in town

Ayat K.

Yelp
Gibsons is very consistant. Good food and they have my favorite wedge salad with blue cheese. Macadamia ice cream desert is excellent as always. Cant wait to go back

Heather L.

Yelp
The food and service are always absolutely incredible. Step ahead of any other place in the area. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We always love it here and today I came for lunch with a very dear friend. The food was great as always however our server Dan made the experience even better. As a restuarant owner I can only dream of finding such a wonderful attentive server. Thanks Dan!
google avatar

Abigaile W.

Yelp
The mashed potatoes were stupid. Stupidly whipped, light, airy, buttery and delicious. The half chicken was good and the portion was just right. The strawberry short cake with the vanilla ice cream in the middle...no words. Our server was on point and the service was prompt. It was a great experience from start to finish.
google avatar

Yelp
Had a four layover and decided to check this place out for an early dinner. Ate the bar and overall service was great. The steak itself was delicious and worth the price

K N.

Yelp
The reason for my OK was even before we set foot in the restaurant! All parking places have been claimed by the Valet company - even the lot adjoining the restaurant that houses corporate buildings!!! Forced to walk across a street on a freezing, windy, day to park in a Bank Parking Lot!!! I am older and deal with spinal issues and this was outrageous. They have no right to force people to valet park. Food was exceptional ( crab cake / ahi tuna salad / lobster bisque / spumoni sundae - 2 martinis with a waitress who was amazing. Because of the parking situation - we will not be back. Shame on Gibson's for allowing such a miserable inconvenience to their elderly patrons!!! I am sure the bank is not thrilled about taking up their parking spaces meant for THEIR customers!

Tim C.

Yelp
My wife and I went for lunch on Valentine's Day. The place was packed and our service quick. There was no pressure to turn the table. Our steaks were OUTSTANDING! What a pleasant experience on a very important day.

Kerry K.

Yelp
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner. Stacey was our waitress and she was amazing!! Great food & service
google avatar

Rebecca P.

Yelp
Random business dinner choice by the locals that lived near Chicago. The locals we had dinner with raved about Gibson's being amazing. From the start, I was awed as there was a fully packed restaurant! I'm a huge carnivore so the 14oz ribeye was the choice to go. Our coworker ordered the lobster. I was not too impressed with the steak as it was over cooked to medium instead of medium rare, which is very important to me. Flavors were decent and the sides we had were so so. We had the spinach and twice baked bake potato along with crab cakes. The baked potato was overrated and the spinach was bland. I was also able to try the lobster and it was disappointing. Very rubbery and dull butter flavors. Maybe I was tired today and didn't really enjoy food, but I wouldn't go back unless having a casual lunch. The service was great though! Very friendly, fast, and personable!
google avatar

Chris K.

Yelp
3 of 5 of us did not have are meat cooked to order right, either under or over. The steak was only fair and the mashed potatoes tasted like they were out of the box. The manager knew we weren't happy with how it was prepared and offered to redo it, but we declined. We asked for the bill and were ready to go. They brought us a dessert on the house that we didn't want. I appreciate them trying to right a wrong, but that was not the appropriate way. That honestly only made it worse. This was the second time in a row we were underwhelmed. It's going to be a while before we return.
google avatar

Danny A.

Yelp
Got asked to sit outside because I showed up with an nba jersey. The place was literally empty. Grandpa saw my wife and son sit by the piano and had nothing better to do. We come to this location 3-4 times a month, but this was obviously our last. I hope they pay you extra to turn people away grandpa.

Mabel M.

Yelp
I have never had a bad meal at Gibson's. However, the service at our last meal was horrible. Our waiter was extremely slow - tables that were seated after us had their orders taken well before us. Additionally, we were never offered refills on our drinks. He seemed very uninterested in serving us. Although there were about 10 employees standing at the hostess stand and observing the dining room, non offered any assistance even after it took over 15 minutes to pay our bill.
google avatar

Deirdre V.

Yelp
I always enjoy the food here. It is always fresh and delicious. The service was great. The server and the busboys were extremely attentive. We were celebrating two birthdays. We probably won't come on an evening during the weekend. It was extremely crowded. We were basically elbow to elbow with other diners. The salmon was cooked perfectly and very fresh The steak was cooked Medium. Extremely tender Filet mignon burgers were also cooked to perfection
google avatar

Simon G.

Yelp
Had brunch at Gibson on a beautiful day where we got to seat outside beside a small waterfall and floral garden. Quite an amazing atmosphere. Interior is also very nice, roomy, wooden furnishing and warm-dim atmosphere (typical of steakhouses) but I much prefer the vibrant outdoor! The steak was excellent. We ordered a tomahawk on bone, medium and it was cooked to perfection, lightly charred on the outside and so juicy and tender inside. The flavors were simply divine. Crabcakes were also excellent with generous good sized proteins in it. Presentation of the food however was really lacking. The $15 salad in particular were rough chopped and thrown onto plate stuff. It really blows my mind how a restaurant like this could have such care-less attitude when it comes to presentation. Yes yes, its the taste that counts, but presentation can make or break the mood on the table too~~

Excellent service and food! It was packed at dinner time on Thursday, and reservations were needed!
