Well organized store with lots of different selections of candies from various countries (Sweden, Spain, America, etc). It’s definitely pricey though; I paid almost $8 for a very small bag. I enjoyed the flavors though and would revisit.

This review is long overdue. Giddy is the best candy store I've ever been to. Our family goes there every Friday night without fail, to pick up our favorites. Both the standards and unusual candies to try. The woman who owns the place is friendly, accommodating and always knows us and what we like. Love this place!

Great selection of candy at a good price. I also love how you can choose your candy. Some comments have been mentioned that the owner wasn’t friendly, but I’ve always had a great interaction with her. She’s not fake nice and I actually prefer her realness. I make it a point to stop by whenever I’m in the city. Their selection of Swedish and other European candy can’t be beat!

I tried this place and the vibe was terrible from the beginning. The woman at the register maybe was having a bad day, maybe?, not sure. She was abrupt when I asked her questions about the candy and seemed to want me out before I even said anything. After buying two small bags of candy, I asked about some licorice that indicated it had an intense flavor. I asked if I could try one (keep in mind, she'd already prepped two bags of other candy that I was buying). She simply said, "we don't normally do that" with an intense abruptness, and then she did it reluctantly. And, it was just okay (stale), but she made such a big deal that I felt compelled to buy a small bag (which I then threw out). Then, when I saw they had chocolate, and asked about one, she just blurted out, "dark or milk?!", clearly irritated. Normally, in a situation with such a bad attitude, I'd just leave, but I believe in supporting small business, even if that small business lacks professionalism and a positive attitude, IF THE QUALITY IS GOOD. I won't be going back, mostly because the quality was below mediocre. That woman's crappy attitude just made it a solid, "no thanks."

This is my fix. Mary is my dealer. giddy is my go to stop if you like candy. Great selection and new stuff regularly. Mary the owner is lovely and always nice to talk to. As a small business owner myself I choose this candy store over “its sugar”.

So happy I found Giddy Candy and what a perfect spot for a sweet treat. So nice working with the owner. She was helpful and friendly and offered great suggestions when we shared what we were looking for. The shop is super cute and clean. Also let's be respectful of store owners & their businesses. Unfortunately noticed some patrons with kids and hope parents are more respectful. It's our responsibility as parents to make sure our littles follow the rules and hated to see that burden placed on the shop owner. She was as gracious as can be! Will definitely be back to enjoy and support!

Walked in, greeted warmly by workers, and the shop itself was small and adorable! Parking can be inconvenient since it's on a busy main street but came on a Sunday afternoon and got lucky! Typical candy store experience: you get tongs, put candies of your choice in a bag from their varying selections, and pay by weight. Came here to try the viral Swedish candies and other kinds from countries like Spain, etc. I was being mindful of how much I was putting in my bag because you pay by weight but I ended up paying less than $10, which surprised me! Would come here again and try more sweets!

Oh man, as much as I wish there was a location closer to where I live, it's a good thing that there isn't because I would be going here very often. This place has the yummy trending Swedish and European gummies (Spain, Britain, etc.) and other yummy candies from around the world. Little did I know, this place existed way before the Swedish Candy trend and has been open for 10 years! I am so freaking happy my sister and I decided to go today. Surprisingly, San Francisco was peaceful and very empty today and when we visited the store, it was empty! **Overview: Candy selection: 9/10 Price/worth: 9/10 Service: 9/10 Ambiance: 8/10 Parking: 6/10 (doesn't count toward rating) CANDY SELECTION: 9/10 I came here with one goal in mind and it was to get the Bubs gummies. They have a great selection!!!! Caramel/Banana, Raspberry/Blueberry, Tutti Frutti, Dizzy Skull (MY FAVORITE), and SO much more. PRICE/WORTH: 9/10 I think the price was great. You pay per pound and we filled up our candy bag a little below half and paid $11. Compared to the prices you see online for these trending candies and we were able to customize what we want and get a lot, is worth it. SERVICE: 9/10 Very friendly lady who ran the store on her own. You grab a tong from the staff member, which I think is great and seems more hygienic that way. AMBIANCE: 8/10 A small store and there are candy selections all around the store, high and low, including the register counter. PARKING: 6/10 Located few steps away from Market St, there is a lot of 90-degree parking which is convenient than parking on the hectic main street of Market. However, it also seems the parking gets filled up as well so you may have to find residential parking in the alleys. I would LOVE to go back again for sure!!!!

I've been wanting to try Swedish candy like Bubs since I saw some videos earlier this year. Cue Giddy candy! They have a rotating selection of gummies including Bubs and it's fun because you create your own assortment. They also have pre-made bags if you'd prefer. Friendly service and always prefer to support local when possible. The Swedish candy gummies were unique, fresh and had good chew. Priced per pound. Lots to do in the nearby neighborhood as well. I will be back.

One of the only self serve international candy shops I've found in SF! It's quite pricey, but these things are treats so I try my best to stay away haha. It's about $17-18 per pound, and the candies available swap out pretty often.

Found this place while searching for Swedish BUBS candies and am now a monthly regular! Great shop with really good prices on all of the best candies and gummies from around the world. The owner is really sweet (pun not intended but fitting) and I've found myself hanging out chatting long after I've purchased my delicious treats.

Where to find Swedish Candy in the Bay Area! Been seeing these viral candy all over and now we don't have to go to SoCal, or have it shipped, and can just drive into the city to @giddycandy and get them! These foam skulls and bubs got that sour kick to them, but the texture is like foam/taffy/gummy all mixed in one. We actually really enjoyed it and think they're worth the hype! They also come in a lot of different flavors. This candy store also has a lot of other candies from around the world and treats we've never seen before. We even got some sprinkle covered gummy bears, and went home with 2 bags full of new treats to try Parking can be a bit difficult, it is the city anyways haha but the store is nice and cute and smells amazing! The lady helping us was also very nice. Next time you're in the city and craving a sweet treat or been wanting to try these out, come check out @giddycandy !!

Wonderful store! The location it is in is so busy, so it was stressful to drive and find parking there for me. When I went, it was not busy at all in the store and we got to chat with the lady working there. She was very nice and helpful while we were looking around and picking our candy. Very welcoming atmosphere! The store was very cute and a lot smaller than I expected. The selection was very limited, but I mostly came there for the Swedish candy anyways. They had a good amount of bubs and they weren't stale at all. I loveee sour candy and I thought that the bubs were actually SOUR. The texture was foamy and fun to chew. They had other candy selections, I just wasn't interested in them. Overall, definitely an underrated spot for Swedish candy!

Staff was friendly. It is a small store, but there are so many choices of Swedish gummies! I love how there were little notes on the candy labels to tell us a bit more about the type of chew or flavor they'll be. Our favorites are the coke cola fizzy gummies and the bubs because of their foamy-like chew! We paid $23.22 for about half the bag full... Expensive for candy, but I get they're hot right now.

Anytime I'm the Castro I make sure to stop here. It's my absolute FAVORITE. The same cashier is always there, I'm not sure if she's the owner but she's so sweet and friendly! They have sooo many fun options but my favorites are the Swedish candies, especially the pink skulls!

I'm not super big on sour candy and gummies but I am always open to try new things. Happy to see this business in the Castro and such a great and welcoming cashier. It is a bit small and has limited options but I still think it's such a cool concept especially since Swedish candy is trending right now. I wasn't planning on buying anything BUT I did see they had chocolate options as well. Now don't be fooled, this isn't your Hershey's chocolate. These are premium priced chocolate. I got three bars for about $10 each. Not disappointed at all. It took me a week to eat the chocolate bars. I can't wait to come back again or find the chocolate online. 10/10 recommend.

Underrated spot for Swedish candy! I love how you can pick and scoop out your own candy here and that they sell the TikTok viral bubs and skulls. However, they're often out-of-stock on my favorite Swedish candies. I also love their sour belts, particularly the mango one. The labels say where the candies come from, and I find them helpful and that they make the buying experience more interesting. I feel like a kid whenever I'm here, and I wish it were closer to me so I could visit more often! The 3 times I visited, the store was pretty empty with only 1-2 other people. It's a small store, but I like how most of the Swedish candy is in the middle or the front.

Finally, a place to find all those delicious Swedish candies I can never get my hands on. They had everything from the classics like Skulls and Bubs (lifesavers!) to a surprising variety of other flavors and types. * Super Clear Labeling: Everything was clearly labeled with the name, country of origin, and even if it was vegan. Major points for transparency! * Pick Your Own Adventure: I loved that you could grab a bag and fill it up yourself. It felt nostalgic and way more fun than just grabbing pre-made selections. * Cute & Compact: The store itself is small but absolutely charming. It fits the Castro vibe perfectly. * Reasonable Prices: My bag ended up being around $10, which felt pretty good for the amount of candy I got. **A Small Note:** While Giddy's selection was fantastic, especially considering it's in SF, I will say Sockerbit definitely has a wider variety overall. I came here to try the TikTok-famous Swedish candy! The owner was very sweet and let me know that they're a little low on stock on those specific items, which makes sense because of how popular it is right now. She was also very sweet to a family who came in ahead of me which I overheard while I was looking around. I think some of the other reviews could have mistaken her for being rude when she really seemed just on the quiet side and kept to herself. She mentioned to me that it's been great having the increase in business recently, especially because the main customers are kids and teens excited about the candy which are fun and upbeat customers to have. The Swedish candy is front and center when you walk in, but there are candies from many other countries as well! She will give you tongs so you can put your selections into a plastic bag. I thought it was pretty reasonably priced, especially since most of the candies are from other countries. It wasn't too busy and I really enjoyed my experience! I can't wait to try the candies once I get home!

I'm not sure why I have seen a number of negative reviews about the store owner. She is literally super nice! We even had a conversation about my wedding coming up and wedding dresses haha! It was my first time coming to Giddy after seeing Swedish candy blow up on TikTok for a couple months. I work in the excelsior district & decided to make the drive out to the Castro to finally get my hands on some pieces of Swedish candy. I came at 4ish on a Thursday with my sister. We walked in and were amazed at the candy selection. I almost screamed when I saw Bubs for the first time LOL! We spent 10 minutes in there looking at the huge selection and trying to figure out what we should try. The store owner talked to us and asked where we were coming from and said she was glad that she came to Giddy to try some Swedish candy. We got all of the different flavored bubs, sour bubs, and sour coke bottles. I love the concept of picking your own candy. Think of this spot as an elevated version of sweet factory that used to be in all of the malls before. It was such a fun experience! The minute we got into the car, we took bites of every single one and said "damn" because it did not disappoint!! My sister and I have decided we are going to make weekly trips to Giddy to get our Swedish candy cravings!! I literally cannot stop thinking about it! Giddy is definitely worth the visit! :)

The candy is delish and lots to chose from...But no samples so you can't determine what you need to heavy up on purchasing. ...and the lady who runs it is so rude and gruff with customers, it almost makes me not want to go there anymore. I've been there 2 times in the last couple weeks and she is the same. I have read other reviews who also commented on this. Just strange, it is a very small store, and she is the only one who works there, so customer service is important.

Always have so many Swedish candy to try and other candy aswell! Lady is super nice and friendly. The store is small but overall has a lot of great fresh candy choices!

i'm giddy for giddy! for starters, yes, they have loads of swedish candy and other options from around the world as well. the first time i visited there was a good amount of the viral swedish candies available. the second visit i did, the ones i wanted to come back for were out however she communicated when she'll be restocking. with the wide selection she had, i still picked up a $12 worth of goodies! seriously, don't let the sold out bubs and skulls stop you from paying a visit. go and explore other candies! the owner is super sweet and kind! can't wait to re-up on more!!

My company had sent me a snack box of Swedish sweets, and I've been meaning to find a place where I could get some more! Specifically, I wanted the Skalle candy, which are sour gummies. Not only did this spot have them, but they had a variety of flavors! As a sour candy enthusiast, I was so excited to see the variety of sour candy they had. Bought a variety pack of self-picked sour candy, and a bag of blue raspberry Skalle. Will definitely be back to get some more!

Came here to try the viral bubs candy and was super happy with the options and service here. They have a lot of options and the cashier was helpful when explaining the candy.

A true waste of time... selection is so limited. Hardly any options at all. I was really looking forward to candy shopping in the city and left with about 6 pcs of candy total in my bag because the supply was so limited. Save time & money on travel (if you don't live in the city) to order online from a store with selection. Also, of the few pcs I did pick up, they were hard!! Not fresh. Disappointed to say the least.

My friend got me addicted to Swedish candy so this has become my go to place to restock. Lots of great options! And the candy has never been stale.

Easily one of the best candy stores I've been to. We came because of a 5 star rating and were greatly impressed! Super kind person working who chatted with us as we picked out our candies. From chocolate to gummy ropes they have a wide variety of sweets. Reasonably priced throughout and very customizable. It's a small little shop that has super cute ambiance. We tried out a lot of their candies and our personal favs were the pineapple rings and passion fruit ropes. A must try!

I am a regular and do not understand any of the poor reviews. It's literally one person working to keep the doors open after covid. Want samples, go to 2018 and tell that Covid you need to put your grubby hands in candy jars for free samples. I mean, yeah, COVID. I feel like Costco sample lines may be more your speed. Store hours? Catering last minute with candy? Confrontation? Mmmhmmm. How about calling after the first time and not wait to buy something last minute. You are the chips and soda person at a party who was attempting an upgrade. Walgreens is in both directions and has 2 for 1 chips. Enjoy. Confrontation? didn't happen. I'd bet my weight in elevated a1c levels you are fibbing. 1. She's not like that and 2. If she leaves, then the fentanyl riff raff takeover. it's a candy store, not a children's hospital so let's reel it in. If they close then i have to eat domestic and my pancreas has gotten very used to quality. I love GIDDY!!! The owner is always super sweet regardless of time and day. It is a very small store but it feels very quick/easy/welcoming. I've been to the Candy Store when Giddy was closed and it just doesn't compare!!! I love how you can physically pick up your own candy and the price per pound is much cheaper. I'm a neighborhood local and I've been in many times, spent lots of cash, but the owner is still rude and perfunctory. Very strange. Yesterday when I dared to ask for something, she said gruffly, "It's right in front of you." Not going back.Would rather spend my money at Candy Store in Polk gulch where they are friendly and it's a pleasant experience.

Absolutely love coming in here! You really do feel "giddy" and back to feeling like a kid when you come in this cute candy store. They have a big variety of different candies to purchase, all a very reasonable price! My partner and I love to stop here before eating at one of the nearby restaurants. Definitely recommend!

Good options, nice people. I like that they give individual tongs to people. Also super cool that they put where the candies are from. They have Swedish candy but not all the options I wanted- they had a few skulls & only one of the BUBS (yellow/brown flavor).

I got to be a kid in a candy store again. Such a nice selection in a small space. The owner was very nice. She handed us the tong to grab the candy. So many unique gummies that I haven't tried before like a pear and passion fruit skull gummy and sherbet gummy bears and a mango sour belt. I hope my dentist doesn't get mad at me if I come here more often. I'm trying to ration my gummies so I don't just inhale it all in one day and can savor the lovely flavors. My bag of candy cost $8.90.

Store hours not accurate. I tried at least 3 times to visit the store and each time was closed this Tuesday, closed by 5:45 PM last week, not open until 7 pm as hours suggested. Store clerk is very short and not friendly. I had a party I was cater to, all excited to pick candy and she bluntly noted "everything you see is out, you can see it" vs making it a pleasurable experience for recommendations. I almost made a purchase but changed my mind, and walked out of the store. I was followed half a block by the store clerk, confronted as to why I did not make a purchase and that I should have informed her... This is not normal behavior, and she was very confrontational for no reason. Will not be going back, and heavily advise to check out other local family run businesses with a more customer friendly atmosphere like Shaws.

I don't know why I do this to myself. I don't want my kids to buy candy at some globo-corp like Walgreens so I bring them here but the owner is SO unpleasant. Honestly she's truly rude. I don't understand it. If you have a question it's an insult, apparently. She has to know that we can buy the exact same sour watermelons and sour patch kids/Swedish fish at a drug store for pennies.... But we're trying to support a local business so we pay $16.00 a pound for some reason...? What was that reason? I'm done. Today took the cake. She literally gave me the cold shoulder as I paid and said goodbye. I don't need to pay a 900% markup for drug store candy from someone so absurdly rude.

I love this candy store!!! I'm a regular customer. I purchase candy at this store at least once a week since Mary opened it 8+ years ago. We're lucky to have it in the neighborhood. Mary sells high-quality candy. She's extremely engaging and very personalable. Like all privately owned retail stores, Mary has the right to run her business as she desires. I hope she stays in business for decades longer.

Please read the reviews before giving this place your business. The staff member which appeared to be the owner is very rude and very unpleasant to interact with. The whole time I did not feel welcome inside that alone is worth the 1 star rating. Do better.

Giddy is hands down my favorite candy shop in SF and beyond. The quality and selection of the gummies are wonderful - always feel like a little kid when I walk in with the displays and the layout. The owner and staff are super friendly as well. Pro tip for parking - park below (south of) market...I always find parking on Noe street between market and 18th.

I am a regular and absolutely love this store. They have great selection of candy and chocolate. The clerk is so nice & friendly. She always asks after my dog & kids which is so sweet. One thing I've noticed is some parents paying zero attention to their kids running amuck & sticking their hands in the jars!! Not at all fair on the clerk to police their kids. Anyway, this truly is a gem of a store!!

I've seen a lot of reviews stating the lady was rude, I didn't find her rude at all! I would say she went out of her way to make my experience out of this world but she wasn't rude. The candy is so so yum! I was expecting to pay 70 dollars and ended up only spending 35 for weeks worth of candy!!

Great local candy store! Walked in on a whim with a friend after seeing Swedish candy trend online. The shopkeeper was very friendly and helped us decide what to try. I absolutely loved the lemon cola skulls and actually tried to buy more at another local SF candy store (closer to me) that offered Swedish candy, but they weren't offered there, to my disappointment. Time to go back to Giddy soon!

There's something appropriate about having a specialty candy store in the Castro as many men feel like a kid in a candy store in this 'hood. But I don't think they meant literally a candy store. After all, who needs the calories when you're competing with those gym bodies in the clubs? There's plenty here to gorge on if your sweet tooth needs satisfying - sour gummies in all shapes and sizes, licorice sticks, really expensive artisan chocolate bars, even hard candy drops. This is the BEST candy store. The entire staff is wonderful and the owner Mary KNOWS her candy! She is so knowledgeable about each piece that comes into her shop. If you are looking for high-quality product that is so tasty, then you have come to the right place. Great selection of Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Gummy Candy, Sour Candy and the biggest selection of Licorice (Red & Black) that I have seen outside of Scandinavia. But be careful, this place can be dangerous. I live close and visit often. But each time I am reminded of why I go back there: great service, great product and fun atmosphere. Thank you Giddy Candy!
