"Gifford House Inn has hosted four presidents and housed an experimental theater company where Al Pacino once performed. The property was recently renovated by its new owner and now welcomes 21-and-over guests in 33 completely refurbished guest rooms with beautiful views over the town and harbor. The hotel is known as a cultural and entertainment hotspot with facilities including its iconic basement nightclub, Purgatory; a Porch Bar with seating that spills onto the wraparound veranda; a lobby lounge; and a new multi-purpose performance and events space that hosts theater productions, classes, and workshops." - Travel + Leisure Editors

"Gifford House in Provincetown is enjoying a community-focused renaissance since local Steve Azar took over the 33-room hotel from longtime owner Jim Foss earlier this year. Every Sunday through the winter, the cultural hub — with an events space, a club, a bar, and a lounge joining the hotel proper — is hosting a free potluck from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Wilde events hall. Guests are encouraged to bring their favorite winter-minded dishes (maybe it’s time to break out the crockpot for some comforting and easy-to-make chili) or desserts to share with other folks. Gifford has ovens on-site for heating things up, if needed. If you find yourself on an off-weekend visit to the Cape haven, drop in for some company. Don’t cook? Perhaps you can bring some takeout from one of the essential restaurants in town." - Nathan Tavares

This hotel was AMAZING! Hannah was so welcoming and helped us bring our luggage to our rooms the second we checked in, our group had so much fun interacting with her and she was so helpful and truly embodies exemplary customer service with her kindness! The staff repsponds to any requests or needs at a very fast pace and you can truly tell how much they love and care about this hotel and their customers experience. Our rooms had a gorgeous view of the water and were immaculate, air conditioned, spacious, incredibly comfortable, and had a very historical charm to them! We had an abundance of towels and shower materials provided. The mini fridges were stocked with beverages. The house itself is beautiful and any history lover would be in awe! The porch and patio was our groups favorite part and the nightlife was right at our doorstep! Incredible location within walking distance of everything and the staff made our trip that much better! It is an amazing sense of community, celebration, and an effervescent atmosphere! You truly feel at home and so relaxed we will only be staying at Gifford House for our annual trip to Ptown! We can’t wait to come back!

Check in, was chefs kiss. So friendly and welcoming. Seriously if felt like I was coming over to my friend or a relatives house. She walked us up to our room, even gave a quick tour and allowed us to ask a few questions. It was pretty nice. Any thing we needed ( Ice, towels....) all were not only accommodated but done so timely. We also met the owner who have gave a little history of the Gifford house ( I'm history nerd) so I was very fascinated. Overall amazing place and stay !!

Google
Truly the perfect p town accommodation- the location could not be better with easy access to all the best restaurants and night life. Our annex room was spacious with great views, great service from all hotel employees, and the check in time of 2 pm is really great compared to most other places in town. Plus free purgatory admission nightly!

Google
This was my first time staying at the Gifford House, and I must say that it was an enjoyable experience! First, it is in a great location and quite central to the main shopping and eating establishments in Ptown. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious and upgraded. Staff there on site were knowledgeable and friendly. Prior to my stay, communication with the hotel manager (Hannah) was first-rate and all questions were answered. Porch Bar was fun as always! ||I know that there's been quite a bit of upgrading, remodeling, and expansion of the complex, and when finished, it will be quite the destination! Definitely would stay there again.

The new management of the Gifford House is successfully preserving its historic charm while embracing modern updates, making it a perfect blend of the past and present. With an inviting atmosphere, revitalized amenities like new bathrooms, carpeting and furnishings, and a dedicated staff who are always friendly and helpful and available, the Gifford House is to be gem destination for those seeking a unique and memorable getaway in Provincetown||In addition to the spruced up Porch Bar and completely revamped nightclub, Purgatory, there’s a full calendar of entertainment including art and music shows as well as community activities happening so there’s always something interesting going on. And it’s located in one of the most convenient locations in town.

Loved our stay at the Gifford House. Very adorable interiors, incredibly comfortable beds and clean rooms. But above all, the staff were so helpful and attentive. Fully recommend staying here if you can!

Google
This was my first vacation out in ptown for the fascination event and the Gifford house absolutely blew my mind. Hannah who worked at the front counter was super friendly and very accommodating. Hannah made me and my fiancée feel so welcomed. On top of that our room was perfect. If you’re looking for something small and cozy then the Gifford house is for you! The cleaning ladies did an amazing job maintaining our room! On top of that the art work in the building was beautiful and the price for 3 nights was affordable! The best part is down the hill is the town! So it was very easy to get around and shop. When the Gifford house hosted the main event for Fascination I was so impressed of the basement club and how much room there was and how POPPIN the music was. Gifford house was truly amazing and I seriously will not forget this experience. I will definitely be coming to the Gifford house more often anytime i vacation in ptown. 💖

Clean and upgraded room, rustic, comforting atmosphere, super friendly and accommodating staff, short walk to downtown Commercial St. New ownership is investing in their business. Highly recommended!

Yelp
I am staying here for the weekend in the off-season and it's simply perfect! I love the aesthetic, staff, and entire experience. It's been great getting out of the city and chilling at a beautiful but comofortable place.

Yelp
Absolutely loved staying here! The new owners have been making a lot of new renovations and it looks amazing. Vintage touches are all around and give the Gifford Inn a lovely character. Hannah at the front desk was spectacular, she handled any issues we had immediately. The AC in our room wasn't working and Hannah was there in less than a minute replacing it. The bar and nightclub are so fun and lively, I can't wait to say here again!

Yelp
Not a friendly place and the owner has zero hospitality. At 1:45 pm I made a reservation at Gifford house. At 7:00 pm I arrived and entered the reception area. There was no one at reception and a sign that says their reception closes at 4:00pm. I called the phone number and was told that there was no reservation, I had to insist that they double check and find it, which they did. Not a big deal. 10 minutes later the owner shows up and says I must have just made the reservation because it was not in their system. I again assured them that I made the reservation over 5 hours ago. He said that wasn't possible. When I told him I didn't want to argue I just wanted to check in I was called an asshole and asked to leave. I ended up making a reservation at awol nearby. Their staff was professional and allowed me to checkin without any hassle unlike Gifford House. https://www.larkhotels.com/hotels/awol

Yelp
Staying at the Gifford house was excellent the room was nicely cleaned and updated. The staff was absolutely wonderful, very nice kind everyone deserves a 10+++ We met the owner of the Gifford house we told him that the update is a little different because we are not seeing the lights on the Gifford house. But all is well!!!! We will be back next year we will be back next year. Totally in all excellent. Hopefully we won't

Yelp
I want to write a list of pros and cons for this guesthouse. Pros - decent price - good location - slow but doable wifi - nightclub if you are into that, bar across the street - clean - doable breakfast - parking Cons - loud nightclub music until 1am - no TV - staff isn't very welcoming (our experience) - squeky wooden floors I think the best quality about this guesthouse is it's location. If you are looking for quiet luxury feel this guesthouse is not for you.

Matthew P.

Yelp
Unless you can sleep in a nightclub, or go out every night , don't stay here. The booming from the nightclub below bellows through the floors EVERY NIGHT! I couldn't believe how bad it was. The room was not lush or cozy; enough said. I ended up stay only 2 nights on a 7 night pre paid reservation. When asking for a refund, or even a partial one, I was immediately denied; in a very unfriendly way (I'm being nice). It was that final tone and total lack of empathy for all the money lost, etc., that resulted in this review. Stay where you're appreciated.

Yelp
Intolerance. Went with my girlfriend on a Saturday evening (9:20 pm) to request a room, and despite of being mostly empty the hotel we were told that there were full, with not available rooms, and that the last two rooms were just given away... My girlfriend was in so much disbelief. Being she from Catalonia, Spain, and working and living in a very tolerant space, she was shocked to see how we were rejected for being a straight couple. After working for some time around Christopher Street in New York City I was not socked at all for the reaction of staff at the hotel, since very well I learned in NYC that intolerance is well extended in any group, race, religion and sexual oriented group. We had to leave and find somewhere else to sleep. PS.- There were only two cars in the parking lot, my car and the one from another guest.

Yelp
Right in the middle of Ptown, everything is walkable and bike-able. Had a lovely stay here at the end of the summer season. Room was clean, staff was very friendly and helpful. Stayed in a 3rd floor room which gave us lots of exercise on the very steep stairs. Shower was hot and roomy. No shampoo or conditioner provided (soap was provided). Plenty of towels. A/C units worked although not sure they'd keep the place very cool in high summer on the top floor. Got a room upgrade because we were staying the long weekend, THANK YOU! This was awesome.

Yelp
At a first time stay at Gifford House for Holly Folly, I'll talk about the pros/cons of staying off-season and in-season. Gifford offered affordable rates for off-season, as Holly Folly has become an increasingly popular weekend. I'd like to first start off by calling out the staff. Everyone I encountered, from the booking phone call to check-out were awesome. Everyone was welcoming and friendly and went out of their way to have a conversation with you. It was truly like being invited into someone's home. We stayed on the third floor in room 15, which featured a private bath and two full beds. The rooms are a typical BnB set-up; basic with no frills. The beds were very firm, the tv was small and there is no fridge. If you are looking for a luxurious stay, compared to the Crown & Anchor, Brass Key or Crown Pointe Inn, Gifford House is not your best selection. The inn is by no means dirty, it is very old school style with stripped amenities. When booking the room, he was courteous enough to remind me of Club Purgatory in the basement and the noise that could be present until 1am. I was aware of this and knew I'd probably be down in the club, so it was not an issue to me. Being on the third floor you DO hear the bass and music from the basement club. Since I visited in December, it was an awesome place to stay because I had the piano bar and Purgatory right in the Inn. Now- for my views on staying here in-season. I can confidently say, I would not pay the in-season rates for event weeks. Rates range (per website) from $181-$376 for summer event weeks. Rates for summer range from $118-$261. Gifford's location is perfect and very close to Commercial Street and local attractions. I'd recommend it coming down to your preferences for what you are looking for in your stay. Let's face it, PTown is a very pricey vacation spot. It is one of my favorite summer getaways. For the price point and location during off peak event weeks, Gifford is a great BnB selection. If you want a more high-end stay, Gifford may not be the most comfortable stay for you. I always recommend checking with friends, looking at the website, view photos of the rooms and read reviews.

Yelp
I have a love/hate relationship with the Gifford House. I can never decide if i'm charmed or digusted by it's "hasn't changed in 30 years" atmosphere. I mean, literally nothing had changed there since i started going to Ptown regularly in the late 80s. I bet nothing has moved an inch in the place in all that time, certainly nothing's been updated. And that's the rub. Not update = cheap, and the Gifford House is one of the extremely rare affordable Inns in Ptown, so at least there's that. If you know what you are getting into, and you're fine with dated rooms where you would never want to use a black-light to check for stains, then this place is fine. Don't expect "luxe" anything and you can't be disappointed. That said there are a couple things that are unforgivable. No bath products? At all? Just slim generic soaps? Come on! I'll pay the 50 cents extra a night for shampoo and body wash bottles!! And they also are very cagey about saying you can't hear the bar in the annex, but you "might" hear it in the main house. It's loud EVERY night here until 1am. Period. Again, if you are going out every night, so what. But be warned. + Cheap Large rooms with lots of bed options Central Free admission to purgatory Parking Good water pressure - Nothing here has changed in the 25 years I've been coming I ptown Loud !!!! Dated Hard beds and pillows Expanded cont b'fast with no expansion (no yogurt, no meats, lots of bread ) No hot tub Slight "Ick" factor No bath products except soap

Yelp
Best value in town IF: You understand that this is a mid 19th-Century hotel, trying to fill a 21st-Century function, and keep afloat on the profits of a ten week season. It is "quaint" with second-hand painted over furniture, mismatched bedspreads, Sears readymade window treatments, standard "firm" mattresses, and no "amenities" like body wash and moisturizing shampoo in itty-bitty bottles. It is stripped down, minimalist ... and a great value given what Provincetown has become. But it is definitely quirky. It is OLD P'town, the way us old gayboys remember it, when Provincetown was a really cheap vacation spot for societal misfits. Ya should have seen it before it was renovated! We once checked in back in the early 70's, to find our "bath" was a tub in the middle of the room, and the shared toilet was down the hall (as was usual in many tourist hotels of the era) A knotted rope attached to a ring bolt on the window sill was the fire escape! Nobody expected to be in bed before 1:AM so the noise was hardly an issue, and since we were all college kids living on street food, a complimentary breakfast of Wonderbread and Welches grape jam was much appreciated. So don't expect luxury accommodations at these prices. Consider that you've gone camping and if you don't like the place, check into one of the guest houses that cater to spa massages, piling heated rocks on your back, complimentary wine and cheese, and sushi for breakfast. At $375 a night. The Gifford House staff is very nice and thoughtful. The porch bar is a great way to start an evening with generous drinks served in real glassware ( Find that in a dance bar nowadays!) Purgatory, the dance bar has it's moments if you know what's going on in town, (Watch the underwear party boys lined up on the street during July 4th week for a real chuckle) and the piano bar has it's fans. But remember, this is Provincetown. It is old, it is unique, it is NOT Minneapolis, and don't expect it to cater to the norms.

Yelp
This is the second time we've stayed in this place because we completely forgot how much we disliked it when we stayed here last year. But this time solidified it. Let's get something straight. I like Ptown. I know our community comes here to relax and have a good time. I get it. I'm even okay with the quaint nature of the inn itself. But when I come here for an event that I want to take part in at 9 o'clock the next morning, I don't want to be relegated to only being able to go to sleep when the piano performance in the lobby ends at 1 am. Yes, 3 nights out of 7 a week they have a performer in the lobby and you can here it loud and clear throughout the hotel. There are other places within the confines of these walls that they could do this such as, I don't know, the attached restaurant or the attached bar. Besides that, the wifi is crap and always congested despite like 4 routers (made writing research papers a little difficult), the continental breakfast is nothing but coffee (removed around 6 pm so get it while you can), some apples, and loaves of bread freshly removed from grocery store bags and placed in a basket. Next to a toaster. Oh but they do have overcooked hard-boiled eggs. Good for protein. Yes this will thankfully be the last time we stay here. I'm sure some people dig places like this, but I feel like an inn should be used for sleeping. I guess I'm old fashioned.

Yelp
Okay folks, let's talk about the Gifford House. It was our first visit to Provincetown, and we were excited to find a room at a reasonable rate -- it's a pricy area of course, and we generally feel good about hotels without bells and whistles, especially for a short stay, especially provided they are still fresh, clean, safe, etc. What we uncovered, through our stay, were worse and worse conditions at the Gifford, making in incredibly uncomfortable. Here goes the laundry list: Visible mold in the ac unit. No ventilation in the bathroom, plus a shower head that looks like maybe something you would find in a prison and quite literally sprays out of the shower (seriously, how have they not figured that out yet?) Incredibly stiff and flat mattress that felt like the sheets were just pulled over it, no mattress pad. Scratchy Towels and sheets that appeared rather dated and worse for wear, that should have been replaced 5 years ago. Also, a weird lack of functional furniture / lighting / electrical outlets? Like, we had one bedside table, and we used the dining chair (?) in our room as a table to charge our phones on -- not a huge deal, but just was odd. We joked that you could spend like $50 on this room at Target and literally make it feel $100/night better. The death knell for Gifford tho -- because a lot of this felt very "well, I guess you get what you pay for" and was tolerable for a short stay. Club Purgatory in the basement. We knew when we booked that there was a club in basement and naively assured ourselves that they must've figured out the kinks of managing noise levels for hotel guests, right? After all, it's a pretty basic thing to do sound insulation in a basement, and it just seems like step 1 of "hey, let's put a club under our inn, what's first?" Yeah. No. Literally pounding with sound a few decibels below what it actually was in the club (yeah, we checked it out) until the wee hours of the morning. It was horrible. And what were we to do? Try to get a refund and book somewhere else at midnight? I gotta say, it also upped the sleaze factor of the whole place a dozen notches, too. Not into it. My partner and I woke up exhausted and cranky, and unfortunately it colored our whole ptown experience -- no real desire to return. The following morning in the lobby, every other guest looked like they had been duped and exhausted and kinda held captive too. Avoid. Sorry guys, it sounds like a deal, but trust me, this one is a hard pass.

Monica P.

Yelp
Was warned over the telephone that my room would be rather small and that it was directly over the night club. Also, over the phone I was asked if I wanted a non-smoking room - thank God, as I forgot to mention that I am allergic to tobacco smoke when I made my reservation! Only one night during my week there (Sunday, October 15 through Sunday, October 22) did I hear the club. The room, linens and bathroom were immaculate. Plenty of hot water. Yes, Dial soap was part of the amenities. The staff was GREAT. The continental breakfast was good, and the breakfast area brought out the best in the diners. DEFINITELY will return! FELT LIKE AN HONORED GUEST IN A DEAR FRIEND'S HOME . . .

Yelp
Reviewing: The Lobby Bar and the Basement Dance Club The lobby bar is a nice place to see and be seeing. With ample space and huge balconies, it lets you either sit inside or enjoy the fresh air outside. Music plays in the background with the volume low enough to have a conversation. The lobby area of the Gifford Inn is nice, with a country home feel to it. For the "leather" and ecstasy-dance crazed people, the basement of the Gifford house turns into a club with super loud music. The basement air circulation is so bad that the place feels more like a steam-bath than anything... and with people wearing leather, I feel sorry for them... shrits fly out and a few patrons dance in the boxes wearing short-shorts or underwear. The $20 cover charge to go to the basement is not worth it... unless that is your "scene"... I've never been to the rooms of the Inn but I will assume that, with the big crowd that shows up for the lobby and basement bar on the weekends, it probably gets quite loud and uncomfortable when trying to sleep, specially before 1 am and if having a room facing the front. Some people might like that though.... It is a nice place for an after dinner drink and night cap. A nice site to relax in the lobby bar before heading home...

Joel M.

Yelp
Here's the thing about Gifford House. It's a BnB so not all hotel amenities available. Some rooms do not have AC but at night it is usually cool enough for the window fan they provide. The breakfast is pretty standard continental fare. Bread, rolls, bagels, muffins, fruit, cold cereals, coffee and juice. Piano and porch bars are a lot of fun and make the stay worthwhile. Negative: not much but a steep hill for older or less able patrons may be difficult to walk back from Commercial Street.

laura W.

Yelp
Reviewing: Porchside Lounge I was recommended to this bar after eating at Bayside Betsy's. The bar is close to the center, but in a quieter area... not on the main strip. Drinks are super affordable - $5.50 for a well vodka tonic. The atmosphere of room itself is absolutely gorgeous. The art is exclusively scantily clad men but hey- it's provincetown. There are some arcade games- table top pac man?! YES PLEASE! there's also a pool table. The outside seating area is probably awesome in the summer. The music is fun and upbeat but not too aggressively loud. I did feel slightly too estrogen filled to be there (they don't even have a women's bathroom) but i would definitely go back. head's up: it's CASH ONLY.

Teddy B.

Yelp
Stayed here last weekend and have stayed here in the past my issues is this time the mattress was so dam hard, could sleep all weekend and they dont have do not disturb signs for the rooms, so you get knocks every day

T L.

Yelp
Staying there right now and it's great. My room is huge for Provincetown. The shower could actually fit two people! It would be a tight squeeze, but it's much bigger than the usual Ptown shower where you're knocking your elbows on the walls. It's very clean and the staff have all been helpful and kind. My room faces Carver and overlooks the west end with four big windows. I should warn you that if you're walking from the ferry, it's up a hill whether you walk via Bradford or Carver, and that hill can feel like a mountain if you're already exhausted and lugging a suitcase. Then there are about a dozen steps to get to the lobby, and the first floor ceiling is incredibly high (they don't build 'em like that anymore) so there are a lot of stairs. It all makes for a great view, but people with limited mobility probably shouldn't try it. For just exploring the town, though, the location is perfect. There is breakfast, but I didn't try it. (Another great thing about Gifford House is that it's less than a 5-minute walk to Liz's Cafe which has amazing breakfast.) As other reviewers have said, don't expect luxury--you don't get luxury in Provincetown at this price point. I've stayed in a lot of B&Bs around town and I'd definitely stay there again.

Mitch J.

Yelp
If you are looking for a charming, quiet and elegant guesthouse, DON'T stay at the Gifford House in Provincetown. By our own admission we should have done better homework, but this still does not excuse the substandard conditions and service in this place. From the moment we arrived the staff acted as if we were a nuisance. We've stayed at several guesthouses and have always been met with a "we're glad you are here" or "where are you visiting from?" The staff seemed to change daily so we never really knew who was in charge. When we got to the room--scary. The bedroom set looked like it was purchased at a yard sale or was donated by someone's grandmother who passed away in the early 70's. The bedding was simply horrific. The CDC should confiscate the bedspread to prevent the possible spread of bio hazard disease. If you want an iron or blow dryer, you have to go to the front desk and check them out. When you pay $300.00 per night you should get some modern amenities! When would you ever think an iron is a modern amenity. The towels were were small, but not as small as the tiny bar of soap they rationed. The cleaning service involved making the bed and dropping off towels. We paid extra to get air conditioning and cable TV in our room. The AC unit died three nights into our stay. It started making sounds like it was dying a painful death. RIP little AC unit. When the guy came to look at it he plopped on the bed, bent over to play with the switches, shrugged and said he "thinks it's okay for now" It wasn't. There are plenty of nice places to stay in Ptown and I hope you don't make the mistake we did by staying at the Gifford House. I can't wait to get home to sleep in my own bed with real sheets and iron a shirt without having to sign for it.

Alex R.

Yelp
The Porch Bar at the Gifford House is NOT the place to go if you're looking to possibly kiss someone of the same gender. I was asked to leave by the staff for doing just that. One would think that at a gay bar in Provincetown of all places, it wouldn't be an issue. The manager, Greg, explained to me that kissing dis not maintain the level of appropriateness he wishes to maintain for his gay bar in Provincetown. So if you go, you can have a drink, hear a song, but be sure not to gay kiss anyone. You will be thrown out.

Leo V.

Yelp
This place is a complete dump if you're there for a room. The beds are horrendous! you feel the springs, the beds are loud, takes 15 mins to get hot water out of the shower, the AC didn't work. Live entertainment keeps you up at night. The only plus is that they have bars inside so you don't have to go far for drinks. I won't be staying at this place again.

michael k.

Yelp
Nicely decorated, reasonable lodging. Helpful staff. Fun place to stay! Porch bar is a great place to hang and have a drink with friends. Owner Jim and Manager Harvey are the most amazing hosts. Very attentive to our needs and truly seem to enjoy what they do.

Gisele U.

Yelp
I enjoyed the piano bar. The music was fun on a Friday night last week. The piano man was fun and he had some really good songs everyone could sing to. He got everyone in the bar to sing. You don't feel like you are in a bar here. It has a living room with some couches and some seating with wooden tables. There is a bar area if you want to sit there and there is a large outside porch. There is also a pool table and a few video games. Pac Man.....:)

Danforth N.

Yelp
Very pleased. A great value. Close to everything and utterly charming. Please note that there is no shampoo provided, bring your own hair stuff. The mattresses are also a bit uncomfortable. But overall they are incredibly accommodating, friendly, and it's been a wonderful stay.

Jim S.

Yelp
I have been going to Provincetown since 1974 -- Labor Day Weekend. A friend of mine told me about this incredible place on Cape Cod, and I didn't believe it -- until we arrived. Yes, I'm an older gay guy -- kinda invisible to lots of the newbies and youngees. But that's fine, because I've been-there, done that. The 70s in Provincetown was unbelievable. It still is today, of course. In the 1980s, I lived in P-Town for a year in a one-room apartment in the center of town, and absorbed all-things-possible. It was wild. I'm glad I did it (and survived). I kept visiting many times, then in the 1990s lived in Provincetown for two more years. Plus, visiting Gifford House Inn whenever I could. I have three "favorite" guest houses or places in town nowadays -- Gifford House being one of them. Every year, I try to spend a little time at each. Early May, the Gifford House Inn is a great place to be "at home," for a night or two. June it's fantastic for a longer stay -- it's affordable for several days at the off-season rate before the crowds arrive, and the central location allows you to do whatever you want to do in Provincetown as a gay dude -- the A-House and Boatslip are within 3-5 minutes of a casual walk. You're downtown, so you can do all those things. Herring Cove and gay beaches and amazing sunsets are 45 minutes away in a pleasant, slow walk. And if you want it, the basement club -- Club Purgatory -- has lots of interesting moments. The staff members at the whole place from the guest house to the bars are friendly and fun. The continental breakfast is decent, with great coffee all day long. You can come and go easily, and there are a variety of rooms from which to choose -- and varied prices too. There's a special "aroma" to the place that reminds you of living/staying in an old building with lots of history, and an "ambience" to the place that cannot be experienced elsewhere where I've stayed in many-a-city, including a dozen or more places in P-Town. Is it worth the money? Yes. Is it worth at least one of your visits? Definitely. Are there "better" places, depending on your definition of that word? -- certainly. There's no "luxury" here, in the conventional sense. You get a couple of bars of soap, some paper in the bathroom, a plastic cup or two, perhaps a small TV and some AC, a refrigerator if you select that kind of room, and a private bath/shower, maybe tub; but with the free parking, location, friendliness, price-point, you really can't do better. And do you really, really need that designer shampoo they'll give you in a more costly place, or fancy towels (here you get enough that do the job) or the indoor gym or outside pool? (Boatslip lets you use their pool all afternoon, even if you don't buy a drink.) And if you spend too much time in your "luxury classy room" at a high-priced place, you're missing the Provincetown experience! Go. Come. Enjoy.

Yelp
Worst accommodations I've ever had -- I'd rather sleep in a tent. If there were no nightclub below, it would be a middling hotel. With the club there, it's absolutely dreadful -- all night long there's thumping bass coming up to your bedroom. I managed to sleep some with earplugs, my boyfriend barely slept until the club closed well after midnight. We were both pretty miserable in the morning and my boyfriend asked for us to go home a day early as a result. Don't get a room here. It's not worth it, spend some more and get a room anywhere else. Sleep on the beach if you have to, you'll feel better for it in the morning.

Yelp
The charm is all in the lobby and not the rooms. The location is great, middle of town, but not on Commercial street. It's up a hill so there's a bit of a climb; the reward is a great view if you have the right room. The view's other cost is direct sunlight at dawn, and no blackout curtains. In the best four person room we had two twin size beds, short and narrow, but with an over-large bathroom. Heat was too hot or cold. On-demand water kept the shower hot, but the sink had low water pressure and tepid heat. One short towel rack for four guests was another disappointment. The tube TV is quaint I suppose, but bulky. Bigger beds, flatter TV and smaller bathroom would be nicer. Staff is nice and polite. The rating is lowered by the cost versus value. This was last updated, barely, in the 70s but the prices are rather higher than the amenities rate.

Yelp
Awful Accommodations! I've stayed here several times before BUT this will be the last time. What a very unpleasant experience, I booked a room with a bay view way back in March instead I got room #11 which faces west so if you looked out through the trees to your far left then you could make out the bay. The room is in a major need of a renovation, when I saw the room I was very disappointed in how disrepair it was in, when I brought this to the attention if the receptionist he claimed this was considered a bay view room and that due to their vacancy he could possibly jump us around from different rooms during our 7 night stay, NEVER AGAIN!!

Yelp
I booked last minute. I saw this place had an available room for 112 a night. It was my fault I didn't read the fine print. There was no AC in this room. I was kind of shocked, but dealt with it. The next morning i went out from 8-230 and when I got back my room had no been cleaned. I was tired and laid down just as room service knocked on the door I tried to get ice from the ice machine, but oh yeah there is no ice machine just a cooler of ice in the main lobby. The room itself was fairly clean, there was no TV but you shouldn't be watching TV on vacation anyway Staff is polite, cleaning staff is slow...very slow. I was on the second floor, not to much noise, but you have to keep the windows open to try and keep the room cool, which makes it tough to get piece and quiet. I loved the price I paid, but overall I'd say find a different place to stay, or at least make sure you can book one of the rooms with an AC

Yelp
I've been to the porch side for drinks over the years and have always found the Gifford inn so charming. We decided to stay last minute and found accommodations at the Gifford inn. The lobby is quaint. The staff were polite and nice and were busy preparing rooms and cleaning. Thank god they cleaned. otherwise this place is really not fit for human habitation. I can not emphasize this enough "This place is really not fit for human habitation" No offense to the staff because they have quite an impossible task. I was expecting a simple room with perhaps no air conditioner which we did have. I'm not sure what the deal is with this place or who the owners are? but really? it is incomprehensible to me how the owner of this establishment could in good conscience not be troubled by the condition of their accommodations. I get it's old but there's no excuse for 40 year old mattresses and comforters. The sight of the comforters literally cause involuntary reaction which words cannot convey. First off, they allow smoking in the rooms which might explain why they refuse to upgrade anything. My husband is a smoker and could not and would not smoke indoors. I concluded we got the worst room in the hotel because of our last minute plans which was somewhat true. I asked to look at other rooms for reference and I saw three additional rooms that were equally disappointing. It was really a pathetic experience. Of course I knew we would be checking out the next day but I can only think of how sad it was 25 years ago when we first came to Provincetown and stayed in a hotel on the outskirts of town in a place I can't remember and having a similarly bad experience. Back then we were on a budget and today that hotel is gone. It doesn't seem right not to provide some basic necessities and to take advantage of guest in this manner. We paid $239.00 for the Friday night. Not to mention this hotel is not in the outskirts of town but is in a prime location, with prime value and two very popular venues for many many years. The owners should really be ashamed.

Yelp
its in the middle of the hive that is PTown, the Gifford House also has a dance club in the basement, it has a bar, and a lobby, It is also located on the corner of Bradford St, and Carver. and its a giant probably wood framed and over 100 year old sorta musty, seaside building..with all that being said; not a very peaceful or quiet place.. nice accommodating staff, the housekeeping seems to do their best with what they have to work with. they have spots where you can leave your car... and just not drive during your stay in town (walk or bike from Gifford House for best results)...smoking is allowed in the rooms, Bradford St is loud....I stayed a night and was satisfied. except for not having coffee available till 8am... :( sad It was cool to be maybe a little less than a football field to Commercial St, an easy 15 min walk to the base of the Pilgrim Monument..I'm glad I was here a little late in the season. Oct in PTown is great...
