21 Must-Try Pizza Places in Montreal

"The premises are relatively unglamorous, but many a West Islander swears by this half-century-old Pointe-Claire stalwart. It’s thoroughly Montreal-style, with family-pleasing pizzas coming heavily loaded with toppings, including its famous deluxe — all-dressed plus bacon and onions." - Joel Balsam, Valerie Silva, Eater Staff

Walking around Pointe-Claire Village, can make a girl real hungry. Gigi Pizzaria has been on my "Need to Try" list for a few months. It was recommended by a few friends. I haven't gone earlier because parking can be a little tough. We were greeted by a very friendly lady and seated immediately. For a Wednesday lunch it was quite busy. We were lucky there was a booth still available. The menu is not extensive, but there are more that enough selections. Ranging from a small selection of spaghetti lasagna to a large selection of subs and pizzas. We had pizza. A 10" 'Deluxe' to be exact. It was loaded with cheese, mushrooms, green peppers, pepperoni, bacon, and onions. Holy moly. The sauce was light so the flavors of the toppings was able to stand out. Only downside was that it was a bit wet under the crust which was a bit underdone. I didn't say anything because it was ok. I'm just very picky. My friend had a single topping pizza, 1/2 pepperoni and 1/2 capicollo, and nit was dry and perfectly cooked. Sometimes, when there are too many toppings the tendency is to stay a little wet on the bottom. It takes a long time for the mushrooms and peppers to dry out. When I go back? Absolutely.

Google
Charming old school restaurant. Excellent service. Great pizza toppings. Nice cheese. The poutine sauce is very good. Shredded cheese is used. Solid poutine. Steady stream of pizza picking up take out. The restaurant is small but does get very busy. Popular destination.

Google
Beyond expectations, loved the food! I put 2 stars for ambiance because it's a small, local restaurant, order and leave, so no ambiance there. The rest is 5 stars, we appreciated the place, staff and food. My friend comes from far in Laval just for their food, especially for Superbowl. Pizza is really good, quality of ingredients and they are good slices. The submarines have a lot of meat and are really big portions. We're not talking about a fast food restaurant size, we are elsewhere at Gigi's... loved it!

Judy Hung

Google
Cash only; it’s good they informed us that before we ordered. We ordered a cheese pizza and an all dressed submarine, both were delicious. The pizza dough was nice and chewy, generous cheese with nice tomato sauce. We were there on a Sunday at 12:30pm, not much wait time. Nice pleasant dining experience.

Google
It's the second time I had a Gigi's pizza, and it's also the second time I threw half of it away. It was a 14 inch pizza that cost $39. It had lots of ingredients, but there was little flavour in the sauce and the pepperoni was like tasteless rubber. Just piling on ingredients does not make a pizza good. Some people may like that and will use that as a basis for a good review, but it's not for me. I've had pizzas with fewer ingredients that taste much better and makes for an overall better pizza. Sorry, but that is the truth of the matter for me.

Must come to GI GI's if you're in the area the price is really affordable and the food has a confort homie taste and the vibe of the restaurant has a homie feel to it 🥰 PS: they only accept cash, bring cash in advance if you want to save on ATM fees cheers 🤝 Update: Still the same homie, warm feeling of the restaurant and quality and taste of food did not changed at all ❤️ and they finally accept cards as payments yahouuuuuu 😃

Upgrades needed, outdated decor. Portion size was generou. Noted a lot of salad on the subs. Missing a salad dressing to top off the subs.

Google
This is a small privately owned pizza shop serving up Montreal style pizza. The service is great and the server(s) are very polite and friendly. We had a medium Deluxe which is an all dressed pizza with bacon and onions. The crust is airy with crisp edges. Really good. Been coming here for years and definitely recommend this pizzeria They now take cards..

Yelp
They offer great variety of Italian pizza, pasta and lasagna. Their pizza is very special since they are creative with toppings and they add extra cheese. We ordered a medium Special Gigi pizza, a small Deluxe pizza and French Fries for the three of us. Gigi Special pizza is topped with steak and Deluxe is topped with bacon and onions. What we ordered was way more than enough and we had so much leftovers to bring home since you start feeling full after the first slice. Both of our choices were equally delicious, but my favorite was Special Gigi Pizza.

Yelp
I travel from St-Laurent to pointe Claire in order to get my fix of the best Pizza and Subs on the Island of Montreal! Love Love GIGI's, super nice staff and vintage Diner
google avatar

Jill M.

Yelp
I hadn't been here in a very long time and decided to grab a pizza last night. It's still as delicious as I remember and remains one of my favorite pizzas.

Vito G.

Yelp
Excellent food Great staff and amazing eye candy as well! Seats are quite tight though, not meant for bigger people...
google avatar

Brandon W.

Yelp
Some of the best pizza you can get. Thick crust with TONS of toppings and cheese. Incredible.

Linda G.

Yelp
Looked forward to a Gigi pizza so we treated our selves to a pepperoni and cheese. Very disappointed. The quality has really gone down since the last time we were there. Tasted like pizza from the fridge the next day. Cold and no sauce, dry. Will really have to think twice the next time
google avatar

Gordon W.

Yelp
I got the 14 inch steak and pepperoni sub. It is really painful to describe my disappointment. The single layer of thin steak was burnt and only covered half of the bread. There was plenty of pepperoni to make up for the lack of steak but it was the tasteless rubbery greasy type. They used to have excellent pepperoni. What have they done to their product? They used to be the best but now I will never eat there again.

Yelp
This place has been on my bookmarked list for a while now and I finally got the chance today to cross it off. The restaurant is small and dated, with what must be the smallest bathroom I have ever seen, that being said, everything was very clean. I tried the mushroom pizza, I should mention that they are very generous with their toppings, so when I asked for extra sauce on the pizza, I got more than I bargained for. The pizza crust is thick, so it holds up all those toppings very well. The sauce is slightly sweet and the thick crust still has a light and chewy consistency and made for a great pizza. Will definitely be back. This pizzeria is located in Pointe-Claire village so on a beautiful day like today, get it to go and eat on one of the picnic tables along the water, the staff was great and made sure to give us utensils and plates (sturdy ones not the flimsy paper plates) for our impromptu picnic.
google avatar

Rabih C.

Yelp
Very straight forward. Not expensive. Real nice people. Clean. They have good variety and exactly the right sizes
google avatar

Kristina G.

Yelp
Pizza is good, left me full after 2 slices. Very generous with toppings and I love the crust because it was on the thicker side. This place is great to take out a box of pizza for a night in. Nothing authentic or different but definitely carb satisfying! However, 40$ for an all dressed xl pizza? Hm... Environment is cute considering the look is to imitate a down to earth pizzeria of you want to keep it casual.

Shawn G.

Yelp
Pizza was way overpriced and wow, disgusting, dough was tasteless cheese was garbage, it's sad that there's simply no place on the West Island that knows how to make a good pizza!
google avatar

Risa D.

Yelp
We love Gigi's delivery in the West Island, it's one of our favourites for when we want delicious piles of cosy, quality pizza brought to the doorway in a reasonable amount of time by friendly people. The quality of the ingredients is good, cheese tastes like cheese and not oil, you know what I mean? It's hot, we like the taste of the crust, it's comfort food the way only a small Quebec pizzaria can do it, where the all dressed is just pepperoni and mushrooms and peppers. Ahhh, perfection.
google avatar

Melanie R.

Yelp
Really good thick crust Montreal style pizza. We had the Super All Dressed..so the norm plus bacon and green olive. Really perfectly done bacon on this pizza..a feat in itself and rare in these parts. 36$ for a large pizza. .steep but wth. I could only eat two slices and no outside crust. So many leftover..my boyfriend will spend his tomorrow very happy. No cards, cash only and no bank machine close by so bring money. Also..no alcohol.
google avatar

Yelp
Great pizza, though I concede, perhaps not to everyone's taste. The secret lies in their sauce-- they definitely use "sweet" spices to liven things up, like allspice, nutmeg, and cinnamon (I'm guessing). At times, depending on what you order, those spices can be a bit overpowering. For example, they use the same sauce in their pasta dishes, and both my husband and I weren't big fans. We usually stick with the pizza, and our favourite is the all-dressed, where there are many other topping flavours to blend nicely with that spiced sauce. The soft, medium-thick crust is great, and toppings are always generous. The pizza isn't cheap, but what you are paying for is quality and flavour. Now, I just wish Gigi's would deliver!

Derrick H.

Yelp
Best pizza in North America! Always stop in when I'm visiting Montreal. They use high quality pepperoni and cheese. I wish they still delivered like back on the day
google avatar

Easy E.

Yelp
Are you f*cking kidding me?!? $75 + tax for 2 large pepperoni & mushroom, and 1 small plain?!? All exceptionally mediocre and only cash accepted?? you assholes should be investigated for fraud.

Jean-Pierre G.

Yelp
No sauce in the pizza, I asked for more they gave it to me but it was cold. The taste is good, I was expecting To be more important as a customer.

Maureen T.

Yelp
My place for great pizza! Pizza is always delicious & hot, through and through. We use to go to another Pizza place that would cook it on a conveyor. The first bite was hot, the rest of it would be luke-warm and liquidy. That is why Gigi's is now our place for pizza!

Barbara A.

Yelp
Wow, had a great experience, along with a great Gigi special pizza with steak/ all dressed. Went to the back entrance, it was delivered to my car window...such a happy camper right now. Fantastic pizza, just like I remembered before Covid.
google avatar

Richard M.

Yelp
I grew up in the Pointe-Claire village and even after moving in the Laurentides, I still go to GIGI Pizza, its the best damn pizza in Montreal. I also remember when I was a little kid seeing Patrick Roy, Guy Carbonneau and Kirk Muller go eat there. I guess they knew aswell where to get their pizza :).
google avatar

Todd R.

Yelp
Good pizza, nice and heavy, good salty cheese and plenty of it. The salads are a little weak. Just iceberg, nothing super special but hey, it's a pizza place, right? Love the pizza for sure!
google avatar

Ikang P.

Yelp
Finally found a good pizza in West island. I ordered Hawaiian pizza with extra bacon. The first time I went there, I was blown away. Crust was amazing, cheese was melted really good (freshly baked). The second time, it wasn't that great. I had Hawaiian with extra bacon and pinapples. It's like the pizza was preheated, bacon was a bit burn, cheese wasn't the same. A bit disappointed. But I'll come back again, maybe I'll get the pizza that I had the first time.
google avatar

Val H.

Yelp
This is the best thick-crust pizza you'll ever eat. Where all restaurants have now gone towards thin-crust pizzas (which are great, or even better than thick-crust), Gigi's has kept their tried-and-true thick-crust pizza the same as it always has been, and it's perfection. I've been eating Gigi's pizza for over 20 years and it hasn't changed a bit. They don't appear to offer delivery anymore so get your butt into your car and go pick it up. It's worth it. Dining inside the restaurant will bring you back in time, as it hasn't been updated, probably ever. The booths are minuscule and the ambiance takes away from the "experience" in my opinion, so I would opt for Take Out. Go for the All Dressed or add some Bacon to your favourite pizza. Mmmm.
google avatar

Eliana M.

Yelp
I shed a single tear when I think about the state of pizza in the West Island. I mean, it's like a desert. There's nothing good. The chains are terrible and everything else is just weak. Gigi's is the best you're going to find. It's pretty good, if a bit heavy. It's overpriced, so you probably want to go eat there instead of ordering in. At least then the pizza is fresh out of the oven, and you're in the lovely Pointe Claire Village, so you can stroll around after you eat.
google avatar

Kirk V.

Yelp
Some places you just want to keep secret That's just wrong What can I say, been there about 6 times Pizzas, subs, poutine its all GREAT! It's a small restaurant in the village some parking in the back Cash only
google avatar

Steve C.

Yelp
And I live in Toronto, albeit I'm an ex-pat Mtl West Islander. It's the best place for traditional Montreal-style pizza and the only restaurant in Montreal that is programed into my cell phone. Yes, there is a Montreal-style pizza. I get the All-Dressed pizza which is a continuous overlapped layer of pepperoni, layers or mushrooms and a good helping of green peppers per slice. All of this deliciousness is BELOW a thick layer of nicely browned cheese. The result is juicy, cheesy pizza goodness. The pizza is pricey but when you dig in you'll know why. Service both take out and eat in is efficient. Atmosphere is typical of a small, indy pizzeria - you go for the pizza not for the atmosphere or decor
google avatar

Fíona M.

Yelp
Not my kind of pizza. I prefer authentic Italian style with a thin crispy base although I do enjoy American style from time to time. The pizza here however is very stodgy, too heavy on the stomach. Toppings are under the cheese which I also don't favour. The place itself is quite small and cramped to the point of uncomfortable. Pricey enough. Service is basic. Disappointing :(
google avatar

Asad Q.

Yelp
Come on people. This is sooooo not a thin crust place. Let's have reasonable expectations shall we. If you like thick-crust pizza it's pretty good. We had 1/2 Hawaiian / 1/2 deluxe (meat lover's). A 6-slice medium was plenty for three relatively hungry people. Enjoyed it!
google avatar

Liquid R.

Yelp
My comments will echo that of a fellow Yelper - I think your opinion of Gigi's will be largely informed by what you think of their sauce; if you like sweet, you may enjoy it (and potentially this place), but if you prefer savory (ie. garlic, herbs, classic Italian seasoning), forget it. For me, the notes of cinnamon/nutmeg/allspice (coupled with plain sugar...?) in the sauce was a complete turnoff, as was the carb-bomb of a crust that will sit in your stomach like a brick. The toppings are fresh enough but in no way innovative or refined - this is very much nondescript/uninspired pizza that will fill you up if you're hungry but hardly wow you as being anything remotely out-of-the-ordinary (barring that polarizing sauce).
google avatar

Defrid T.

Yelp
Was there Sun.Mar18th, Very small place about stalls very narrow (not for big people to sit but the pizza very good the service was excellent! Im a by passer from an hour away and will stop again on the way by or for take-out.
google avatar

Susan K.

Yelp
Somewhere along the line they changed their cheese and it hasn't been the same since. Now it's just average pizza - if that

N O.

Yelp
Old fashioned pizza with thick crust and lots of cheese, reminiscent of New York style. Not too many choices; pepperoni and all-dressed are good but we have had much better vegetarian pizza elsewhere. Friendly staff but beware- they only take cash, which can be a problem if you are feeding a group of 8 people. Not even debit.. conveniently, there is an ATM right by the cashier so you can withdraw money as long as you don't mind the $2.50 service charge. Seriously???
google avatar

Jewel P.

Yelp
This is my absolute favourite pizza ever! With take out you will be amazed when you pick up the box at the weight of it. They do not skimp out on toppings and the thick crust done to perfection every time. Green olives are divine. Will always be a repeat customer.
google avatar

Francine B.

Yelp
If you like an amazing piece of pie.....Pizza wow so worthwhile. Little place nothing fancy but my mouth waters every time Gigi is mentioned. ..Pointe Claire village.
google avatar

Tomy W.

Yelp
Very good pizza ...tried all the pizzas in west island and this one is up there with the best..The only thing they are a bit pricey ...but wtv its good to treat your self :). Try the deluxe all dressed onions and bacon yum yum And dont forget a cold Heineken

Mandy U.

Yelp
You wouldn't expect that this quaint diner hiding in Pointe Claire village would have such phenomenal pizza. The crust wast perfectly crispy and not greasy. The cheese was stringy without being oily and the toppings were fresh and thick cut. All with attention to quality. Will definitely come back for this pizza.

M J.

Yelp
Definitely the best pizza on the West Island. I agree with the others who say that it's overpriced, but compared to what else is available in the area, I am willing to pay extra to get pizza that doesn't taste like cardboard. The pizzas are a bit heavy (lots of cheese), but the crust is the best part -- so good!!

Adolfo N.

Yelp
Good pizza, but a little bit backwards since they don't accept any kind of card at all, you have to use their in-store ATM which charges a $2.50 fee.

Rita B.

Yelp
I was recommended gigi by two peoples I met, well last Saturday my husband and I went as we camed to the front door I notice the glass panels and glass door was dirty ah well I said it could be better inside, well it was not there was flies buzzing over my face flies in the bathroom and when I saw the chef passing the food through the glass door opening , the glass opening door was filthy, the very next day I was out for an appointment and I started to feel sick and had the worse cramps in my stomach I had a bad case of diarrhea and vomiting, now I know where I got this from that restaurant that was unclean, beware peoples , myself and family will never eat there again.

Pascale M.

Yelp
Not the best. Pizza is so so. Not sure what the fuss is all about. The Waitress rudely took away the sugar pack as my son was playing with them. She told us it was not for playing. Come on! He was not opening them, just pretending they were cars! Pizza was so so. There are far better pizza places in Montréal at that price with much better service!

Pan A.

Yelp
pizza is very good. ranks up there with miss Jean Talon or Woodland. as you walk in it looks but more importantly SMELLS like a REAL pizzeria. something which is lacking in the west island. however, I have two small issues. first, it's cash only. I mean...come on! second, the booths are WAY TOO SMALL!! yes I could lose a few pounds but if you're over 6feet tall or a little round in the middle. ..no joke. ..beware! other than that. ..keep it up guys!

Harry W.

Yelp
Mediocre overpriced pizza. Cash only, no delivery. Save your cash and get a PC frozen pizza at Loblaws, it's a notch above this pie and 1/3 the price.
