The 22 Best Restaurants In The Hudson Valley - Hudson Valley - The Infatuation

"Gigi is all about Mediterranean dishes made with as many locally-produced items as possible. The Skizza flatbread pizzas are a favorite, especially the garden option with peppers, zucchini, and pesto that really showcases nearby farms. The sit-down restaurant has a ton of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free dishes, and the sunny sidewalk patio makes for a great lunch or dinner stop in town." - anne cruz, clare lagomarsino, keith hernandez, chanize thorpe

I enjoyed my meal. In particular the flatbread. The salad was good, but the vegetables were a bit dry. The outside seating area is very nice. Inside out can get dark and when I asked to be sat somewhere bright, they refused to stay me at a larger table even though they were completely empty and by the time I left nobody had sat in them. Other than that the staff was attentive, though not particularly friendly. Most of them didn't even respond to greetings, and again, it was a slow time of day.

Google
Friendly host welcomed us into the restaurant and then it went down from there. We sat towards the back of the restaurant and it was nice and quiet. The waitress was quick to take our order and once it was served, we were forgotten. They offered to fill our water when we asked for the check. The Il Guardino flatbread pizza was not flavorful at all. My husband loved his Gigi Burger. All in all for the menu prices and service, I’d fine another place to dine.

Google
The Bianca Skizza is my favorite, such incredible flavor, and love the fact that gluten free is an option. Very cool vibe to the restaurant, great music. The manager Jean Luc is a sweetheart. Service was great, everyone is super friendly and genuine. Kelly can whip up an amazing cocktail, she never disappoints everytime I come.

We have been dining at Gigi Trattoria for 10 years whenever we are in the Catskills. It used to be just my partner and I but our kids now enjoy it too. Great food, super friendly staff, lovely ambiance. Looking forward to our next visit!

Google
Excellent space to sit and relax. Atmosphere was beautiful, food was excellent. Service could have been faster. We ate lunch here and choose 3 appetizers, and two desserts. Everything was excellently prepared and very tasty.

Google
Meatballs were spot on - be sure to get some extra bread to sop up the sauce! Burrata is delicious and tagliatelle was perfect texture. Very cute place and tasty Spanish wine. Definitely recommend the Bianca pizza, super thin but not overdone, the pears were perfectly sliced nice and thin and not a dry spot on the pizza.

My wife likes this place for there skizzas I also think they are very good as well, upon this visit we ordered calamari artichoke and empanadas, the calamari was very greasy that I could not eat any more then one piece, the artichoke is good but when I went to try my empanada it had a hair on it so I did not get to try it, the Mgr came up to me and apologize and took it off the check which was good , then came the gigi burger was ok meat was dry bun was slightly stale and the burger was flavorless. I was looking for a juicy burger my wife had the Bianca and she loved it I had a slice as well and have to say it was very good as well had good flavor to it and was fresh 😀, overall the food was ok but I've had better cheaper burgers elsewhere.

Google
The food is very good, as was my drink, but our experience here was honestly very unpleasant. I felt uncomfortable with being shafted into a corner and ignored for twenty minutes. We were not given menus or water for that long after being seated, after being treated rudely to start with, to the point that we were actively discussing what other restaurant to leave and have dinner at when we were finally served. Our waiter was not the issue; I think he believed the manager had taken our order when in fact we were never given a menu. All in all, the great food is not enough to ever make me want to return after being quite obviously passed over for wealthier patrons.

Yelp
Enjoyed our meal, there were 8 of us with smallish kids so it could have been difficult for the server but she was amazing. Calamari was delicious - kids cheese Skizza's were very big and we ordered 3 but 2 would've been plenty - we took the extras home. The veggie pizza was very good. The fried oysters had a little too much topping and the spiciness overwhelmed the delicate taste of the oysters - the aioli and slaw could have been on the side . The bacon burger was perfectly prepared. The winner was the Tagliatelle Bolognese - our server recommended it and it was fantastic!

Yelp
Went to Gig's a few years ago. Food was terrific and service was good. This time we went. There were a few folks outside. We were the only table inside. Ordered the French Onion soup. It was DELICIOUS. And then...wait for it: We waited over 35 minutes for the burger and porchetta sandwich. Folks outside were served, pizza, sandwiches, etc. I can understand that the 1/2lb burger would take time. Server never came by. I drank my wife's water, cause mine was finished and she was drinking tea. Never asked how we were, needed anything, even more H2O Thirty five minutes; I then saw someone photographing food including a burger. THAT WAS MY BURGER. It was being photographed. Meanwhile we were waiting. When they brought it, it was cold. I refused to accept it. Server was aghast. I stated why. I spoke softly but with NY emphasis. I said I was done because the experience was just unacceptable. We walked out. Owner came out. She apologized. OK. But not taking the cold photo'd burger. Plus, fries were not Tuscan as per menu. Don't frequent. There are better places around. If I could give zero, would do. Pictures may look good but the "service?" And practice of delaying your food to photo for advertising.... hai proprio ragione, stai scherzando. Basta così!

Yelp
Really used to love this place. It was our number 1 spot to eat at for 25 years everytime we came to Rhinebeck which is 2-3 times a year. It's just sadly gone downhill after all these years. The service is awful...no joke the last time we went I had some man who was clearing my plates CURSE at me for getting in his way while trying to go to the restroom. Mind you, it's a small narrow hallway that leads to the kitchen & bathroom & he had nothing in his hands & no one did anything!! I tried to tell a manager & apparently they couldn't even make time to listen to me even though there were only 2 tables in the restaurant. We always order the Skizza that's the only thing that's good but it forever comes out cold. The steak frites is always cooked wrong but I keep trying because it's my favorite dish. Their fries with fried rosemary are the best thing here with the aioli dipping sauce. The other dish that's great is the spicy rigatoni. You can't go wrong with that dish. So we decided to try new restaurants this time & will only come here for some Skizzas & beer.

Yelp
It's a great spot near our hotel. We loved Tim he was helpful w suggestions. The place has great indoor and outdoor space. We loved the chandelier above the bar area. We started a Caesar Salad good taste lots of crunch. We also had the burrata it was gooey on the inside w pops of pomegranate seed pop of color and taste. We enjoy the hummus underneath the cheese. Felt the cheese could use a bit more salt at the table to add another pop of flavor. We then shared the blanco pizza it was a thin crusted crunchy crust with fig jam and cheese. Could've used more fig flavor but it was good overall. We also had some broccoli rabe it was bitter a bit more than I like and a lot of liquid to spill on my shirt. The ice teas was way better than rhinebeck water that's for sure. Overall a good experience w friends.

Yelp
We haven't been to Gigi's in a long time and I doubt we'll be back anytime soon. Our server was very nice & accommodating as well as the additional staff that kept our water filled. The Rustica skizza was OK but it wasn't hot, not even warm-it was odd. It appears to have sat for awhile before it was served. Our son had a bowl of penne pasta with red sauce, basic but it worked. For families, please note that they don't have a child's menu and the only smaller portion meals that they offer is penne pasta with butter or red sauce. Overall, the meal and service was OK, not great but not terrible. The most ridiculous part of the entire meal came when we paid the bill and realized we were charged $2.00 for roughly 1tbsp of Parmesan cheese for our sons pasta. I could understand if we requested a meatball of course to be charged but grated cheese for pasta, absolutely ridiculous!

Yelp
Things really haven't changed since my last visit many years ago. This was probably the most helpful, polite and happy staff I have witnessed ever. The food was good and I felt like the value for my dollar was really good. Interior was clean and welcoming Thank you Gigi!

Yelp
We stopped in for some tea and lunch. The service was efficient and the food was fresh. We both enjoyed our meals. The restaurant has a nice setup. My friend got a burger and tea. For both of us the bill was a little high but the food was excellent.

Yelp
We stopped here for lunch on a beautiful fall weekend. They were busy, but we were seated right away on their large patio that had both covered and sunny tables. We had the -Barbina Salad (Mesclun, Roasted Golden Beets, Apples, Toasted Walnuts, Goat Cheese, Gigi Sherry Shallot Vinaigrette) -Bianca pizza (Goat Cheese, Rosemary Fig Jam, Pear, Arugula, Truffle Oil) Our food arrived quickly and everything was delicious. -Dip Trio with Dolmas (Hummus, Baba Ghanoush, & Roasted Red Pepper Y Hummus; Grilled Sweet Potato Flatbread)

Yelp
If you have a service animal, this is not the place for you. My friend was refused service inside and repeatedly told that dogs are not allowed near food, even though service animals are protected by law. The staff was unfriendly and dismissive, with an attitude that made the experience unpleasant. I would recommend avoiding GiGi--it's simply not worth your time or energy.

Yelp
We came here for our anniversary lunch because hubby has never been. Because I have to go back to work after this lunch, we did not have any drinks. We ordered the calamari ($17) which was good. Not a huge serving but enough. My hubby ordered the Gigi burger ($22) which was really good. The burger was huge/flavorful and the fries were good too. I ordered the Verdure sandwich ($16) and what a disappointment it was! It had hardly any vegetables and was so thin and pathetic. The little salad that came with it was lightly dressed which I like - but just lettuce. The waitstaff was attentive and very nice.

Yelp
Gigi is one of our fav in Rhinebeck. Great food and friendly service. We've always sat outside because of kids, but this time as it was quite cold outside, we sat inside for the first time. I was surprised to see how many seating are available inside as from the outside the restaurant didn't seem to be that big. They have a good size room all the way in the back to accommodate extra seating or large parties. Their Tuscan fries are sooo good (crispy, fried with various herbs such as rosemary and sage) and my little guy enjoyed the mussels as his main meal. They don't have a children's menu, but can accommodate penne with butter or speghetti sauce if requested. Their flatbread/pizza are also very good for children. The dishes are not cheap ($26-35) so just be aware to spend a good penny... But that seems to be the trend in most places now. P.S. they don't charge a uplift fee for using a credit card which is good.

Bob R.

Yelp
Probably worst restaurant experience in years. We had a room in the back, with eight people and a birthday. Started by standing at the bar for a quick drink while waiting for the table...literally stood there for over 10 minutes and bartender never even looked up or acknowledged us. So we just went to the table. We let them know it was a birthday celebration. They didnt care or acknowledge this...ever. One entree came out with the soup and salads. This was eaten and completed by the time the salads were finished, so they had to sit there throughout the entire rest of the meal with nothing. Waiter even wondered "Where is your entree?". "Oh, well he ate that already." French Onion soup was a disaster...I kid you not, there was a couple spoon fulls of soup under a pound of disgusting melted cheese. When the cheese on the top was removed. there was little soup underneath. Waiter didnt care at all. The calamari was uninspiring and blah...the french fries, which used to be amazing, were now Burger King quality. Food has taken a dive, service was obviously lacking, and what was hoped to be a great birthday celebration dinner was a disaster and a hot mess. Go spend your money elsewhere, this is definitely not worth it in any way.

Yelp
Finally made it to Gigi and we were very pleased. Service was good, not over the top friendly, but efficient. We tried a variety of menu items, and everyone was pleased with their choices. The artichoke appetizer had great flavor, the calamari was tasty (but I will say the portion was very small considering the price), and the Sicilian cauliflower was a hit. If you don't like thin-crust pizza, then the "skizza" isn't for you. VERY thin, but very flavorful. The space is very nice, with a small dining room up front near the bar and then tables in a back room. Glad we finally made it!

Michael K.

Yelp
The food and service is consistently very good. The experienced wait staff is skilled and friendly. As a local ,I dine here at least once per quarter for many years. I ve had only positive experiences.

Yelp
We had a great visit at this quaint little Italianish restaurant. It punched above it's weight. We enjoyed the casual vibe. The staff were lovely. Our waiter was a charming Argentinian who gave great advice and paced our meal perfectlyl. Cocktails were excellent- my wife was particularly happy with her cosmopolitan. The single thing that I didn't like was my wine by the glass. I forget which it was, but it was the most expensive red on the list and underperformed. We shared a terrific salad special that was a nice mix of flavors and textures. It included kabocha squash, that I had for the first time and likes. My wife ordered tagliatelle bolognese. She thought it was a top 10 pasta dish (taking our recent trip to Sicily into account). I tried the porchettini, which was a pork roulade wrapped in bacon and served over mashed potatoes and gravy. It was excellent. We were too full for dessert. Nice range of dishes, excellent service, reasonable prices. Worth a visit!

Yelp
This review is only about service and how horrible it was. No bread service. When entree was brought by food runner our app plates were still in front of us. Never asked how anything was. Never refilled water glasses once. Never asked if we wanted another round of drinks. Someone accidentally spilt a glass at the table and I watched him look at the table and look away without offering to help the situation. Food was good. Shame the FOH ruined it.
google avatar

Rachael W.

Yelp
Very cute place. Stopped in for Sunday brunch. Had the steak and eggs off of the brunch menu and a pizza. They had a special cocktail of a frozen cosmo and that was good too! Would definitely go back next time we're in the area.

Yelp
I really want to like this place, but I'm 0-2 so far. My first visit was okay. I thought the food was a little pricy and under seasoned. I ordered takeout today and paid $12 for minestrone that tasted like it came out of a can. The skizza was good and a nice portion. Hit or miss.

Per P.

Yelp
Had the best lunch here! Great food! Great service! Coming back soon and would recommed to anyone!

Yelp
3.5 This Italian restaurant is on their main road, Montgomery St., across street from Tarrapin and next to the book store. Really good restaurant, both food and service. The atmosphere is good too. A little less formal than Terrapin across the street. Both are good and would return. My mussels have not a single sand. Got to watch the Wimbledon women doubles final which was really awesome.
google avatar

Yelp
Gigi was excellent! I saw a negative review about the pizza (Skizza). Don't believe it. The Skizza is exceptionally well made. The crust is paper thin and the toppings are all high quality right down to the sauce and cheese. My son had the basic margarita and I was fortunate to have a slice in exchange for a bit of my fabulous Tagliatelle Bolognese, which was rich and beautiful with fresh pasta and a scoop of ricotta to top it off. My wife had black bass, cooked to perfection with small deliciously seasoned potatoes. We were all extremely happy with both the meal and the service, which was prompt, well timed and paced - giving us just enough attention without totally overdoing it. I'd go back in a hot second.
google avatar

Omar R.

Yelp
What a disappointment!!!! Frozen margarita was served half a glass ( as you can see in the pic). Margarita Pizza was super thin. I felt I was eating a "export soda cracker with cheese. I also order Cesar salad and the dressing did not taste like Cesar dressing. Dressing was not well balanced and had a very strong vinegar taste. I told the server about this things and all he said was "I sorry". Never a manager came to check on us.
google avatar

Heather O.

Yelp
They accepted unscheduled walk-ins immediately and inside. Ambiance and staff are chill and inviting. Their seasonal menu was on point- please try the cantaloupe gazpacho! The skizza is always on Point and European style fresh pizza. By the way- never walk away from dessert. You get one shot at life: kiss that person you fancy, make sure you travel, and dessert is part of your life, friends.
google avatar

Bella L.

Yelp
The food was good so no complaints there. Now the service however, exceptionally poor. Now I know what its like to be a fed up server, but this guy just seemed to hate that we even existed and were at the restaurant. The only time we saw him was when he took our order, and the last five seconds when he asked if we wanted the check. I get it we all have bad days, but i think our server E. could make more money if he put the effort in.

D P.

Yelp
We came here on Friday night and sat outside which was great. They have an excellent outdoor front patio that was lively and spacious. The food was very good, we always love eating here. The hanger steak is pretty incredible paired with their equally great Tuscan rosemary fries. My only complaint is always the same...their drinks. Their cocktails are amateurish. With all the good restaurants and bars close by, they need to step up their bartender game. I ordered an Old Fashioned. Although it was served with a large singular ice cube (only after I requested it), the cocktail itself was not what I expect when I order a cocktail. Good food needs a good bartender, find a mixologist!
google avatar

Lee D.

Yelp
Starting with Bruce, the manager, who accommodated an early arrival for our reservation on a busy weekend lunchtime, then our server Phil, who was also very personable and fast, our drinks were very nicely done, and the food was terrific. The Carchiofi appetizer was splendid, and my sister's lobster ravioli was delicious, with a generous amount of fresh lobster meat in the dish as well as a delectably creamy sauce. My Penne Arabiata was very good, with fresh basil sprinkled on top. Phill looked after all our special requests (extra cornichons, etc.). Prices very reasonable, I'm a great location, calm, tastefully decorated ambience, convenient parking.

Terese O.

Yelp
Gigi's has been my favorite restaurant in Rhinebeck for many years. I feel they don't skimp on quality of ingredients, and that so is key to great Mediterranean cuisine. It's expensive, but it's so good! While they have a lot of meat /poultry/fish dishes, as a vegetarian I really appreciate the complex flavors and perfect level of doneness of their vegetable dishes. The skizzas have a uniquely thin crispy crust and inventive, delicious combinations of toppings. I love to have pasta and a big salad, or a couple of the generously-sized vegetable sides and a glass of wine. I always leave feeling full and satisfied yet light and alert. I especially love the Sicilian cauliflower and the velvety Tuscan beans with Gran Padano --outstanding comfort food.

Yelp
I am so glad they are able to operate during COVID and while we visit the area. They have decent amount of outdoor seatings and very nice atmosphere to have drink and hang out when it's nice out. The staffs were very friendly and felt safe to eat there, wearing masks, wiping tables frequently, sanitizer etc. We got salad and Skizza and I loved Skizza! It's very similar to pizza but very thin dough and crispy. My Skizza has fig, bacon, caramelized onion and Gorgonzola which was sooooooooo good. We also loved rose sangria :) We definitely recommend this place to anyone to dine in this neighborhood!
google avatar

Lauren D.

Yelp
Ordered the Verdure and the Falanga Dairy Trio at the bar as appetisers while we waited for our table. Our original wait time for the table was an hour, but we only had to eat about 15 minutes. Our appetisers arrived right as we were cleared for the table, so we were able to sit down to a table that already had our food! For dinner, got the bigoli col'anitra. My mother for the chicken and polenta, but my mother got the pollo with polenta. Pollo came but polenta wasn't ready until 10 minutes later, so the polenta was cancelled 30 seconds before it would have been served. Servers were nice about it though. Also, we got 50% off a glass of wine using Yelp. Waitress didn't know anything about it, neither did the manager, who said "I didn't know about this but I will ask our Internet guy!" as he took the 50% off from the wine. Altogether a good experience. Delicious food, accommodating and friendly staff, warm atmosphere. Def would recommend, def would return.

Yelp
34 MILES/56 MINUTES NORTH of my house is GiGi's Hudson Valley (Italian). I visited during PHASE 2 of COVID restrictions in New York State - so I sat outside. Place (inside) looks great and the outside seating was great for a spring day. Enjoyed the Gigi Meatballs (Meiller Farm beef meat balls, arrabiata sauce, fresh ricotta) as an appetizer. Delicious and you could immediately tell the sauce was made in house. For lunch, I had the Rigatoni Buttera (House-made Meiller Farm pork sausage, peas, tomatoes, splash of cream). Everything was great and the pasta was perfectly 'al dente.' I'm definitely coming back. FULL MENU at https://www.gigihudsonvalley.com/uploads/1/1/0/9/110997695/summer_2020_-lunch_dinner_menu.pdf

Yelp
My first time visiting and I was delighted at how great the food and the service was and that we were seated immediately! Other places had a long wait, but they were so accommodating and friendly that it totally put a big smile on my face! Our hummus appetizer was delicious, the skizzas we got were delicious and unique and the drinks were SO fabulous I ended up having 3 (a beautiful purple martini whose name I can't remember at the moment)! Our waiter seemed to disappear for long stretches but the amazing thing was that other staff came by to check on us and get us more drinks, etc. We were there for 2 hours (probably because the waiter forgot us LOL) but the experience was wonderful!

Donna K.

Yelp
I live locally and brought my daughter who was visiting from the city for lunch on a recent afternoon. People were sitting outside, and we decided rather than being crowded inside, especially with the increase in Covid again, we took a table outside where the heaters were and wore our coats. After we ordered, it started to get chilly, and we requested the nearest heater be turned on. A lovely young waiter turned it on for us only to return a few minutes later, obviously embarrassed, and said he had to inform us in order for us to use the heat we had to pay a $10 charge! This is appalling on so many levels. I have never encountered this before. There was no notice of this posted. And did this mean everyone in the immediate area would be paying a $10 charge, or just us and others would be riding on our bill?
google avatar

Richard K.

Yelp
It was lunchtime, and we just walked in. There is a table available outside on the patio, and delightful surroundings. The staff was pleasant and attentive. The menu selection ample, leaning heavily into Italian/Mediterranean. Since it was lunch we just had salads, with an added protein, which were imaginative and delicious. We popped into the interior, which is beautiful, and with the sting menu, a solid option for dinner.
google avatar

Rafael A.

Yelp
If you are not hungry and have a lot of money to waste, this is the place for you. This is not real pizza. The pizza is really a large flour tortilla with pizza ingredients for $18. Three small meatballs for $18 were cold and nothing to rave about. Don't bother eating here. The servers were nice though.
google avatar

Yelp
Lousy food and bad service is the best way to describe this restaurant. We ordered a hamburger and it came out raw. Even after sending it back to be cooked more, it was returned raw again. When we spoke with the manager it was explained to us that we were being picking by refusing to eat it and that if a hamburger is bleeding that does not mean it's under cooked. For most restaurants in America a medium hamburger will not come out raw with blood pooling on a plate and when you ask for it to be cooked, it would would be cooked again correctly. Debating whether a bloody hamburger is under cooked or not with the manager was not our idea of a lunch out. To make it even worse, we were forced to pay for the full hamburger dish even though it wasn't even edible. Needless to say, we won't be eating here again and luckily there are so many great restaurants in Rhinebeck we won't have to.

Radmila C.

Yelp
If you feel like waiting 30 minutes for a Caesar salad made of frozen lettuce and watery dressing and a so called " skizza with fig jam , arugula, goat cheese and balsamic" that is dry , thin crust sprinkled with cheese, no jam, and covered with yesterdays slices of apple and arugula with no balsamic and paying $60 for that joke of a meal, than it's a place for you. Oh, and not even a hint of apology for the long wait and crappy food.

Neema F.

Yelp
Good, Small portion, Great service Nice location. You can make your portions slightly bigger.

Yelp
Think of that one dish that you've had in your entire life that you'd give your right arm for because it made your mouth orgasm in the most unforgettable way! Got that picture painted? Well now imagine being forced to give up your right arm for that same dish, you'd likely give up the arm gladly. LOL! Keep following... Well now imagine being forced to give up your right arm for a boiled hot dog!! Now that you've painted that picture I'll let you savor that WTF moment for a second. Haha! Gigi's is the boiled hot dog at an extravagant price of your right arm! I took my date here for a nice Italian dinner and since I'm not from the area, she is, we had very few options to pick from at this corner location so we chose Gigi. Boy was that a mistake which I hope my review helps others from making and yes shame on me for not checking my beloved Yelp first. My date ordered some Tagliatelle Bolognese that was actually pretty decent which I should have gotten myself. I opted for what I expected would be authentic Italian lasagna but what I got tasted like an American housewife attempted to make lasagna from a cookbook. My lasagna tasted bland and an entire edge was burnt so that section was burnt and tasted like crap! I probably should have bitched but I knew I wasn't going to eat the entire serving so I ate around the burned areas. Normally I wouldn't describe food as crap but when I'm handed a tab for a whopping $90 for two people I shouldn't be served dog poop. Sorry, not sorry! My recommendation, avoid the lasagna. If pricing was inline with food quality I would come back but the prices most certainly don't match the food quality that I was served so I'm not about to do another $90 taste test.

Yelp
"Order a skizza." That was the recommendation of the nice guy at Blue Cashew Kitchen store as he wrapped up our purchase and learned we were having dinner at Gigi. (Blue Cashew...a place you should not miss in Rhinebeck. But that's a different review.) SKIZZA: Hubby and I are the type who read restaurant menus in advance of a visit so we already had skizza on our radar. But good to have it reinforced as "don't miss". And the skizza ($14) of the night (topped with spaghetti squash) started out our meal for four. This skinny crusted, chewy pizza was a very good choice and one of the best options of the evening, it really was "all that". WINE: We were delighted to find we had arrived on "Wine Wednesday" and by the bottle purchases were 30% off. We bought a bottle of a French red and were glad for the discount as it seemed to us the wine prices at Gigi were a tad inflated. MAN DOES NOT LIVE BY SKIZZA ALONE: Creative and remarkably broad menu for such a small place. Loved the focus on seasonal produce and local, artisan producers. Dinner choices were the rigatoni pasta dish buttera ($21) for one, gnocchi ($19) for another, North African braised lamb shank for another ($27) and marvelous pumpkin polenta with maple syrup ($8) to round our our four choices. Everyone agreed the food was very good, but perhaps not the "all that" we had been expecting. Well, except for me and that polenta! It was incredible. Seriously. I could eat it three times a day. AMBIANCE: Warm, inviting and perfectly done casual interior. We arrived pretty early for dinner but within 45 minutes the place was filling up and by the time we left, nearly 2 hours later, Gigi was packed. Literally. Inside tables are nearly "cheek to cheek"...north cheek and south cheek. -) Trust us...you will get to know other diners here as they lean over to offer recommendations having "just heard you say". Hubby and I thought that was fun...our friends thought that meant seating was too close for comfort.. SERVICE: Honestly...friendly but very slow and not uber attentive. And one of our meals arrived just barely hot enough. (The lamb.) The guy sitting next to us sent back his lasagne because it arrived too cool to eat...then waited a very long time to have it replaced while his spouse ate her meal while it was hot. BOTTOM LINE: Food, ambiance, the "buzz", all add up to a good reason to go to this very good restaurant if you're visiting Rhinebeck. But don't expect an intimate dining experience or flawless execution of service and kitchen. (For flawless dinner dining at a similar price point, visit Red Devon in Bangall.) We'd go back to Gigi for sure...but for lunch or to sit on the patio in the warm weather months for a happy hour "skizza" but not necessariy for dinner.

Yelp
Gigi's has become our go-to dining establishment within the Rhinebeck/Red Hook area - and by go-to, I mean we eat here 1-2 times per week, sometimes on consecutive days. And we plan to keep coming back! I am not usually a lamb eater but one day I tried the lamb skewers appetizer and fell in love - I order it every single time, and sometimes I order two portions. Between the delicious African spices in the lamb, the tahini dipping sauce, and the goat cheese and kalamata olives in the accompanying greek salad, the flavors tick every box for me and I salivate just thinking about this delicious dish. A must try. I am also a huge fan of the lobster ravioli - the creamy white sauce is amazing, and the raviolis are stuffed with generous portions of lobster meat. The shrimp on top is a bonus. I often order a caesar salad to accompany the ravioli, and it's a perfect pair. Some reviewers have noted the caesar dressing is not traditional - and it's not - but that's what I like about it. As much as I enjoy a creamy or tangy creaser dressing (and I do), what I like about Gigi's dressing is that it is light and airy. The skizzas are absolutely amazing - super thin crust, and often times I order the special skizza of the day because they have such creative toppings. Calamari is easily the best in the area - and frankly the best we have eaten after lots and lots of traveling around the US and Caribbean. There are countless other items on the menu that we have eaten and loved - the seasonal seafood salad app reminds me of the recipe my Sicilian grandma used when she was alive. Burgers are delicious. Fries are crazy good. And if you like to sit at the bar for a drink, I strongly suggest the black cosmo with currant C - it is so good, OMG. Thank you to Laura and the entire Gigi's staff for making us feel welcome and part of the restaurant family. When the entire staff knows what you are going to drink and what you are going eat without having to ask, you know you are home. Can't wait for my next meal...

Yelp
Still love this place but they took away the happy hour and the bartender did not communicate that to us until after we ordered 2 or 3 rounds. We are regulars and our bill was $35 more than expected because the new bartender was being so awkward about the happy hour and we only found out the happy hour specials were over when she told other customers the deal was down (for the season? Not sure) - she had also literally just told someone sitting next to us to enjoy his drink because it was only $5 for happy hour. The new bartender's confusion cost us a lot of money- we would have just ordered one drink and been on our merry way but instead we felt cheated after she told everyone at the bar one thing different about the happy hour instead of being straightforward.

Yelp
This was a huge disappointment ... ordered lunch salad and the portion was for a toddler. Added shrimp to top and it was cold and like rubber. Very overpriced! What a shame it is in a good location and had nice outdoor area but was just horrible. We made the best of it but left hungry after spending way too much money.
