Charming Patio Vibes and Sweet Treats at The Gilbert House First Impressions The Gilbert House caught my eye with its cozy, historic-home vibe. A total beacon for anyone looking for a casual brunch with character. Atmosphere & Vibe The outdoor seating is the real MVP here; relaxed, inviting, and the perfect backdrop for catching up with good friends. Think casual backyard hangout, but with coffee service. What I Tried I went classic with the Two Egg Breakfast (with sausage) and a cinnamon roll, paired with a vanilla latte. The breakfast itself was solid, nothing to write home about, but the cinnamon roll absolutely stole the show - gooey, lightly sweet, and perfectly baked with a hint of cream cheese. A total mic drop moment. Service & Experience Staff was friendly enough. Our server made sure we were taken care of, although after we were done eating and paying, we felt rushed to leave; plenty of open tables and very few customers outside. Pro Tips or Heads-Up If you can, always snag a patio table, it’s where the magic happens, especially before summer hits. And definitely save room (and calories) for the cinnamon roll; it’s worth the trip alone. Final Verdict While the food is good, it’s the charming outdoor ambience and relaxed, friendly vibe that really make The Gilbert House a brunch spot to bookmark. ⸻ #GilbertEats #PatioSeason #BrunchGoals

I had a fantastic breakfast experience! From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel welcome with their friendly smiles and attentive service. The food was delicious, but what really stood out was how smoothly everything ran—even during the morning rush. It's clear that the staff takes pride in their work.

Google
Absolutely one of the best breakfast spots in Gilbert! The food was fresh and full of flavor, especially the blueberry pancakes and cinnamon roll, which were both amazing. Service was fast and friendly, and the cozy farmhouse setting made the whole experience even better. Loved the relaxing vibe on the patio too. Definitely coming back soon!

Google
Food and service were both excellent! Their lattes were delicious and I highly recommend the build your own omelette. Their cinnamon rolls looked amazing too (didn’t order - but almost every table had them so they must be good!)

Google
Great food and great service. I got the banana walnut pancake and my boyfriend got the Buffalo omelet. We were very pleased with the food we got and our waitress was extremely hospitable. outside of the restaurant there is a bookstore and a boutique that you can browse around in while you wait for your table! Great experience, would go back.

Google
I had a business breakfast here today. The rain last night made it cool enough to eat outside at 7:30 this morning. To use my wife’s terminology, it was “quaint, cozy, and cute.” The patio was very clean, and the interior of the restaurant was very clean and had really warm decor. The service was really good. The owner visited with us for a bit, and she was so informative and friendly. The only thing better than the friendliness and customer service was the food. The French toast was divine. The bacon was the really good bacon that you only hear about in movies or see in dreams. I will definitely be back monthly. This is one of my new favorite spots.

Google
Cute little place, kinda gives diner energy but more local. Cinnamon roll was delicious and perfect for sharing!

Google
Met here for a work lunch and the food was amazing! The table next to us ordered a caramel roll and it smelled amazing. So of course we had to order a cinnamon roll for ourselves! The service was fantasic and very accommodating.

Yelp
My husband and I have been going there for many many years and have never had anything but wonderful meals. Susan is incredible and everyone there is wonderful. I can't say enough kind things about this place.

Yelp
A Hidden Gem in Gilbert - Highly Recommend! We had the pleasure of dining at The Gilbert House for lunch on a Sunday around 12:30, and it was packed--always a great sign! The restaurant itself is an actual charming house, which adds to its cozy and inviting atmosphere. The outdoor seating is a fantastic option when the weather in Arizona is nice, making for a perfect dining experience. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful--so kind, attentive, and helpful, especially since it was my first time there. She made a great recommendation, and I went with the Southwest Organic Chicken Breast Sandwich with fries and a refreshing tea--it was delicious! Others in our group ordered the cheeseburger, green chili omelet, and BLT, and everyone was more than happy with their meals. Even though they close at 2:00, we ended up staying a little past that time, and the staff remained so friendly and accommodating. That kind of service makes a place even more special! If you're looking for a quaint, welcoming spot with great food and service, I highly recommend The Gilbert House. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Food- not a fan. Got my eggs wrong and my biscuits were drier than the Sahara desert. Pancakes were mediocre. Sausage was microwave. Water was good and tasted purified. Service- awesome!! Ambience- cute but very loud and echoed.
google avatar

Yelp
3 stars because it was a cute place and our waitress was super nice. Pancakes are good , coffee cold and English muffin was more like a coaster. I have no clue what was done to the English muffins but a basic knife wouldn't cut them, and they were stronger than jerky so my teeth couldn't even rip them apart. Literally hard as a chewy rock. Weird . Maybe they were old ? Or got nuked in a microwave, which would be super gross and disappointing because microwaves change the composition of food to literal poison. Don't think we will be back . But our waitress was awesome

Yelp
We went on a Tuesday morning about 10:30. They had customers but not even close to full. It took about 5 minutes before a waitress showed up and brought us water. We were hoping she'd take our order then, but she did not. After about 10 minutes she came and took our order. We ordered a cinnamon roll for the table and asked for it to be delivered first. After waiting another 15 minutes she delivered our food and then the cinnamon roll. I ordered the tuna melt which was not good as it tasted either old or they use an inferior type of tuna. My husband ordered the blueberry pancakes and they were flavorless and small for the price. Our grandson ordered the corn beef hash and the serving did not come close to filling him up. The corn beef was dry and again flavorless. The little house is charming and it is disappointing nothing else was. Needless to say, we will not go back.

Yelp
Pleasant and unique place for breakfast! The buffalo omelet was tasty, food was served quickly, and server Julia was friendly. The cinnamon roll was above average with a nice cream cheese icing. The buffalo omelet had buffalo and a bunch of veggies in it. Hash browns were cooked well. Sat on the outside patio in the shade and it was still nice at 9am in the morning in late July. Will go again!

Yelp
This past weekend, my husband and I were wanting to get some breakfast inside of cooking at home. We've always driven past The Gilbert House, and decided to come by. I don't know what we expected for a Saturday morning, but it was busy! There is plenty of parking throughout the lot and various other buildings and stores. We got our name put in and was told it would be 30 minutes, so we walked around. We came back 20 minutes later, and some time had passed - it seems they had given our table away when they called my husband's name. They were able to get us seated immediately, and offered to get a high chair for my toddler. We had a very nice server - she was very bubbly and sweet. We decided to sit outside, and it was pretty windy out. They had a basket of blankets in the front for anyone who was cold - that was very nice! We opted out since we were already wearing our own sweaters. As for the food - it was good! Sometimes, simplicity is key, and that is what we wanted. -Homemade cinnamon roll -Blueberry pancakes -Green chili omelet -House made corned beef hash I would absolutely recommend the green chili with chorizo. I didn't order with any meat, but I think it would have rounded out the flavors nicely! You must order the cinnamon roll - it was so tender and sweet. It was great with my house coffee. I would love to come here again when the weather warms up. It was charming and I can see why it is so popular!

Yelp
We've been wanting to try out this place for a long time, and it definitely lived up to our expectations! Not only was the food fantastic, but all of the little shops are super interesting, like the "literal bookshop" and nearby small wedding venue.

Yelp
The Gilbert house was definitely a place we will be going back to. It has a family vibe atmosphere which is always welcoming and Cole their hostess is a very respectful young man who will make your wait very pleasant. The food was amazing and very fresh our server I think her name was Stephanie lets us know about her favorite dishes and they didn't disappoint. It was very packed but I see why it is. If your looking for a breakfast/brunch for the family this is a hidden gem in a small house

Yelp
I'm hesitant to give this place such a raving review because I don't want it to lose its intimate charm, but I have no other choice! The outdoor seating is perfect when the weather is fitting and the indoor seating is cozy. Each time we go, we tend to make friends with someone sitting near us; just as a small-town business should be. The food is incredibly fresh and today's plate was no different. The chef made their quiche in scramble form since I'm not able to do dairy and the tastes blew me away! Hot chocolate was delicious (yes, even my oat milk version). If you have a sweet tooth, I definitely recommend starting with the homemade cinnamon roll, you will never go wrong. I simply can't say enough positives about this place. Just don't share it with too many people ;-)

Yelp
All the food was great the bakery items are what's famous I think- the muffin served with the seasonal quiche was amazing! The service was friendly but kinda slow. Great casual brunch place! Def will go again - kid friendly indoor and outdoor seating.

Miguel P.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. It's a small quaint little restaurant with very good service and exceptionally good food. We came in for breakfast and had the buffalo scramble. Absolutely delicious! I can't wait to comeback and try the buffalo burger they have. Might I also add that they make a mean Bloody Mary. The people next to me had the country fried steak and while I didn't try it, it looked so freaking good I may try that next time I come for breakfast.

Yelp
This place is the definition of the word cost. It's literally a house and the smallest restaurant I've ever been to. I heard the Green Chili Omelet was good and it was.

Yelp
Our new favorite discovery in the area! This charming restaurant is part of the original village of Gilbert, surrounded by five other original homesteads. We came for breakfast on the weekend and everything was fabulous. The pancakes are delicious. The coffee was exceptional... and the green chile omelet is the best egg dish I've had in years. The service was friendly and outstanding - felt like everyone here knows each other and they treat all visitors like extended family. It is not only charming, but upbeat. LOVE this place and if there's a wait to get a table - it's worth the wait!

Yelp
Accidentally found this place leaving a meeting the other day. It was a little area that is really nice. Cute has a bunch of little restaurants and businesses right off of Gilbert Road. The place it not very big inside but they have a nice amount of outdoor seating. The staff was really friendly and helpful. it was very peaceful and relaxing. I sat outside And read and had coffee and breakfast. They do not have flavored creams for the coffees, but they do have flavored syrups. The server told me that the pancakes were very popular and very good so that's what I ordered and I was not disappointed at all. They were extremely good and I was very happy with them. This is a place I definitely would recommend the near Gilbert downtown area. I will absolutely will try this place again because they did have a couple of different things on the menu that I would like to try and as I said the atmosphere was very nice. Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Atmosphere 5/5 Parking 5/5 Location 5/5 Return Factor 5/5

Yelp
I recently went to Gilbert House for breakfast with the family. The food was solid and didn't disappoint. The real differentiator was the vibe of the place. The layout was beautiful giving off a feeling of eating at home. The space was comfortable and clean. The structure was felt like a small home (in a great way). The staff were friendly and conversational. They very helpful and attentive. I would gladly dine there again.

Yelp
Have been wanting to get to the east side for some time and decided to make a trip to The Gilbert House and I am glad I did. Got there on a Saturday morning about 8:45 and was seated inside by 9. The staff were attentive, the food was good, and the coffee was strong, just what I needed. Ordered the Spicy Chorizo omelette and a banana walnut pancake. The food was delicious and the coffee never stopped. The atmosphere was great. There are several shops in the village and it was nice to see the sense of community, they had a kids yoga class going on under the pavilion. If you get to Gilbert, it's a good place to eat.

Yelp
Great find that we found, small place with indoor and outdoor seating. the food was delicious. Had chicken fried steak. Some of the better chicken fried steak we've had I must say, the cinnamon roll was soft throughout an absolutely delicious.. We will be back

Yelp
Lovely brunch spot in town. After years of wanting to try it out we finally made it. We did come early so there was only a short wait. It is a small space though so I would be prepared to wait at least a bit. Inside and 9utdoor seating available. Nor an overly large menue. Mainly egg dishes and pancakes. They do have an uncharge on eggs right now and non dairy milk. For drinks they have tons of flavor options and a variety of coffees. We had a machine with brown sugar flavoring, chai, and regular coffee. For food we tried french toast, corn hash, eggs and meat, and the gluten free short stack. They did give us bacon when we asked for sausage and service was just okay. Thr food was quite delicous and very impressed with the gluten free short stack.

Yelp
Mother's Day brunch buffet was fabulous!! All their yummy specialties.. frosted cinnamon rolls my favorite too!! Looking forward to the Memorial Day BBQ!

Yelp
Gilbert House - Never Again! I can't post my review without a star, unfortunately there's no option for a negative star so I'll just make one: -0 * What a disaster. We expected a local gem -- instead, we got canned food on plates. Honestly, it's an insult to Gilbert's locals and visitors in a state known for amazing food and strong support for local businesses. When we arrived, we told the lady at the front we had reservations. She asked if we booked online, and when we said yes, her response was, "Oh, we don't actually have that or use it." Seriously? Then why even offer it? The biscuits and gravy looked and tasted like Pillsbury biscuit dough drowned in Pioneer/McCormick packet gravy. The corned beef hash? Awful. Looked like Libby's corned beef dumped on Great Value frozen hash browns. Even the grilled tuna sandwich at the next table looked sad and unappetizing. Nothing coming out of that kitchen showed any real cooking -- just reheated, pre-made junk. $94.87 for four people, and not a single dish worth finishing. Save your money and go anywhere else.

Kimberly B.

Yelp
This review is based on trying both a cinnamon and a caramel roll. I have yet to try a meal at The Gilbert House. The cinnamon roll was pretty good. It was a bit chewy, but the flavor was nice. What really made it enjoyable was the cream cheese icing. The caramel roll, on the other hand, was quite disappointing. It was hard everywhere, but the very center, and was pretty dry. Unlike the cinnamon roll, the caramel drizzle on top was not great either. I called in a phone order for 3 cinnamon rolls and 2 caramel rolls to take home. When I got home, I only had 2 and 2, the cost, approx $32. The staff was very friendly both on the phone and in person. The place is very quaint and I will probably go back to try a meal. My final thoughts: Don't waste your money on the caramel roll.

Yelp
Brunch in a cute old house with wonderful staff...what more could you ask for?! How about the amazingly yummy food?! I highly recommend this place.

Cathy D.

Yelp
Such a great place for breakfast in Gilbert! Everything we ordered was delicious, especially the pancakes and eggs, which were cooked just right. The staff was welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. The setting is warm and charming, with a nice mix of indoor and outdoor seating. Perfect way to start the day!
google avatar

Yelp
Gilbert House is a cute brunch spot with all the charm of being in someone's home. It is cozy and there are lots of little nooks and corners to sit and eat and have a conversation. I got the steak Benedict and it was delicious. Coffee was overflowing like any standard brunch place. I'm not sure how busy it gets on the weekend but I was here on a weekday and it was pretty quiet.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! This place is so great. I loved the atmosphere and the little book store next door.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place. Oh boy! First off who puts a cinnamon roll in the microwave?!?! Second bland food Denny's quality 5 star pricing Third the waitresses was not welcoming or wrong attitude to be serving people food. Fourth the place need a good cleaning the walls were dirty and dust on the ceiling and pictures. Will I return. NO
google avatar

Yelp
Such a great and cozy spot! The food was delightful and the service was warm and kind. My fiancé and I went for brunch and will certainly be back!

Yelp
The food was fine. Decent. Mediocre. The muffin was pretty good as well as the side salad. The crust seemed kinda soggy on the quiche but just not something I'm like rushing to go back for anytime in the near future. You know how there's certain places you just can't stop going because of something they have? This isn't that kinda place for me. And with the prices now a days i need that spark. Everything was just fine here...food, service, ambiance...but not worth 75 dollars for 2.5 people pretty much.
google avatar

Yelp
Very cozy feel and food was made with lots of love. We're from Texas and found this gem! Recommend it! We plan on coming back tomorrow! Thank you for the hospitality and delicious food!

Nichelle M.

Yelp
This was my first visit and it was absolutely amazing. I loved the ambiance and employees were the sweetest!! Olivia was our waitress and my barista and made the best latte. I had the green chile omelette and oh it was wonderful. My friend and I went as a girls day out and this place was an uplift to my heart! The girls there were so kind and attentive! Thanks for this great experience!!! I will be back
google avatar

Yelp
Food was yummy, parking can be tricky. There is a wait always but worth it. Cute place wished the outside seats were a little more comfy. All in all we had a good time. Brunch with my favorite people! I did not care for my maple bacon pancakes they came with a whiskey syrup they had soaked them in. It tasted very odd. So our waitress stated they are backed up and it could take awhile for something new. I ordered the California Benny it was very yummy, and came out really quick. You simply must try the home made cinnamon rolls too! Out of this world.
google avatar

Jana T.

Yelp
Decided to come here after the Gilbert farmers market and was glad we did. This seems to be an old home turned into a restaurant. It's quaint and has a good vibe. I ordered the spicy chorizo omelet and although it wasn't spicy it was so good. You can tell they use fresh ingredients! I was told to get the infamous cinnamon roll too so I'm already planning on coming back soon to try that. If you want a place that isn't your local chain restaurant this is it!!
google avatar

Janae P.

Yelp
Service was AMAZING!! We left out leftovers on the table and she ran out to give it to us. I wish we caught her name because she was amazing! Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Celeste M.

Yelp
Food was average. Service was okay. Servers were nice and polite but very slow despite the place not being busy. They forgot several things from bringing me a menu, filling up my water, and part of my meal. The ambience was cute, small cottage vibes. I also tried their cinnamon rolls and forgot to take a picture, but they were very bland. I wouldn't come back here again.

Christi C.

Yelp
The setting was beautiful. Service was amazing. Our food was also great. I ordered the two eggs dish and it was very good.
google avatar

Yelp
Probably one of the worst dining experiences I've had in awhile. I entered my name on the sign in sheet and waited to the side. I noticed we were skipped by a few people so I asked the waitress if we had to go in or if the sign in sheet was sufficient. She just looked at me and said "sign in Sheet" and walked away. I watched as we were skipped AGAIN and decided if the service was this bad outside before sitting than I'm not wasting my time on seeing how it is inside. I've had their food before and again , was not worth the wait. I did find it funny how I was the only POC there and the only one experiencing this treatment.
google avatar

Steve M.

Yelp
Good food and friendly service. Breakfast and lunch staples made with quality ingredients.

Rosaleen H.

Yelp
We haven't been here in a while but it's always very good. Staff is always friendly as well. I wish it was a larger house so it wasn't always so busy but then I probably wouldn't like it as much!!
google avatar

Amber L.

Yelp
10/10 recommend! This place is small, charming, has great customer service and even better food. My friend and I were looking for places to eat breakfast in downtown Gilbert around 10:30 am.... Every other place had a 45min - 1 hour wait. I looked online, found this place and they only had a 15 min wait. The food was out in 15 minutes, my waitress was very kind and the food was affordable. I would love to post a picture of my food but It looked so good that I ate it before I could take a picture. They also have a full coffee bar and my coffee was delightful.

Dylan K.

Yelp
Went to Gilbert House for Mother's Day brunch. The food was incredible and the entire staff was amazing and friendly. Our wait time was less than 5 min on what was probably their busiest day of the year. Our server, Julia, was the element that really brought the whole experience together. She was warm, kind, and attentive. She absolutely deserves special recognition! Thanks Gilbert house!
google avatar

Nichole C.

Yelp
Stopped in for a late breakfast mid-week and while busy, service was excellent. We each had an omelette and thought the food was very fresh. It's a cute spot, but the old wood floor are a bit noisy and you definitely feel and hear everyone coming and going. I'd like to come back and try the pancakes.
google avatar

Jayme H.

Yelp
Worst experience of my life after waiting 30 minutes for a table we asked for a manager because they had open tables and were not sitting us but were sitting individuals that got here way after us. We were trying to express our frustration and the owner took offense rather than hearing us out they had 4 tables open and multiple people had left because of how horrible the hostess was at seating. Worst experience ever and honestly for food that is sub par. The owner said " I don't need to take business advice from you you can leave"

Patricia B.

Yelp
Service and food are an abomination. I Will never go back! Eggs requested were not prepared properly and when I asked for a correction, the manager (son of the owner) said there was NOTHING WRONG with how MY EGGS WERE PREPARED, AND THAT HE WASN'T GOING TO HAVE THE COOK REDO THEM AGAIN. No wonder this place is always empty.
google avatar

Joel K.

Yelp
What a disappointment! We've eaten here before and enjoyed it - this time was the exact opposite! From the time we sat down and got our food, it was 45 minutes. They also managed to screw up a short track of pancakes! How do you possibly do that?!?!? Forget, no one from management came out to say anything. Suffice it to say, they didn't even earn the 1 star and we won't be back.

Patience H.

Yelp
We had the best experience at The Gilbert House! Thankful for amazing service and a sweet atmosphere! We enjoyed our breakfast on the patio and had such a great time!

Carolyn J.

Yelp
Had the green chili omelet with chorizo and hash browns for breakfast. It was excellent, service was great and were able to eat outside on the porch! Very enjoyable experience!

Charles B.

Yelp
Stop making pancakes. You're not good at it. The worst I've ever had. Ordered a full stack buttermilk pancakes (3 cakes, 6" diameter). The cost averages out to $4 each. I'd rather have tacos... or anything else! What was wrong with the pancakes? RUBBERIZED and some dry edges. Hard time cutting through with a metal fork. Didn't need a steak knife but did deploy the metal butter knife. Just think about it. Anywhere (McDonald's even?) makes better pancakes than you do.

Veronica O.

Yelp
The food is wonderful, the staff is friendly and very accommodating. Apple bread pudding is a must to have.
