The Best Restaurants to Know in the Florida Keys

"On Mile Marker 107, just an hour from the Miami airport (for those flying in and heading straight south), Gilbert’s Resort Tiki Bar is beloved for casual dining and has been serving locals and tourists alike for over 100 years. Grab a cold drink, a traditional fish sandwich, and something from the raw bar, and watch the boats go by. Happy hour drink specials are available Monday through Friday between 4 and 7 p.m., so a weekday visit can be timed perfectly with an epic Keys sunset over the ocean." - Allison Ramirez

I arrived on Friday afternoon around 6:00 PM and had a great experience from the start. Dinner was excellent, followed by a few drinks, then I spent the rest of the evening relaxing on the dock connected directly to my room until about midnight. The room itself was very nice and extremely clean. It was incredibly peaceful and quiet, exactly what I was looking for. The atmosphere was calm, the setting was beautiful, and it was a perfect place to unwind. I would definitely recommend staying here if you’re looking to get away and relax.

We stopped here on our way to Key West for 3 nights. If you arrive during night time, wait until the next day everything it will be awesome. Don’t expect to have a huge room, we have a 2 queens beds, perfect for a couple. I don’t think 4 people will fit comfortably. The bathroom was nice and clean, plenty of towels. Room was also clean and comfortable. We stayed on the second floor with the view to the water, which was awesome. Housekeeping was providing services daily and change the sheets after 2 nights. Big parking lot, and also separate parking for the Tiki Bar. Breakfast is included l, it is a simple breakfast with cereal, bagels, cream cheese, yogurt, juices and real Espresso coffee made by a wonderful breakfast attendant from Rusia. No hot options. The private beach was also beautiful and very quiet and private. You can enjoy a wonderful sunset from the beach, make sure you don’t miss it. The bars have a band singing and the food is also really good for a very good price. All the employees were super nice, we enjoyed the company of the breakfast attendant from Rusia and the guy in charge with the security and parking lot. They have also a heated pool to enjoy the sun. It is also another company where you can rent boats or jet ski. Overall is a nice place to spend a few nights, with everything you need in one place, accommodation-breakfast-pool-beach-beach bar.

You have everything in one place very good restaurant with good food they have also a nice breakfast the breakfast attendant were very professional. The pool was great they have also a nice beach and the cabana were you can relax and watch the sunset. We love this place we will be back!!!!

Came here just for the restaurant and wanted to rave about it. Their mahi sandwich is amazing. Shrimp cocktail was great. Steak quesadilla was def not worth $20 - appetizers were on the pricier end in general. Food was great, service was great with a good view!

Google
Simple room. Good beds. Location is great. Breakfast is terrible. All dry bread and only jam and peunut butter. Coffee machine is room is not great. Resudeu gets in the coffee. As much places here on the keys they charge you an arm and a leg but quality is low. Front door parking included so good as well. Staff is friendly

Google
Great bar and service. Food was good - would come back again. However, please let “Almost There” know that their singer’s apathy didn’t go unnoticed - sorry it’s not “tits out” season, but just walking in circles on stage and not knowing half the words is pretty pathetic. Wouldn’t rebook if I were y’all.

Hi, My family and I stayed at Gilbert’s Resort for 4 days (Rm 110). We often saw a young man walking around the property. After chatting with him, we learned that he, Mr. Rafael Rizo, is a security guard working here. He is very friendly and even gave my family and me hugs. We truly admire his diligence and professionalism. Today, we had a minor conflict with another car in the parking lot. While both sides were arguing, Mr. Rizo suddenly appeared right away. With his fluent Spanish and English, he communicated with both parties, and the other party no longer insisted on escalating the issue. What could have become a significant matter was resolved peacefully. My family and I are very grateful for his sense of responsibility and his ability to handle the situation. We feel very safe staying at this resort and have decided to return on future trips. For such an excellent employee, I not only want to thank him, but also must let his boss know and give him the recognition he deserves. Sincerely, Robert F. Lock and Cindy Wang

Google
This is worse experience ever had, staffs are very rude, I don’t know how people have rated that much but I feel no value to my money. If you want resort like experience then don’t get stuck here. This is motel and they charge too much with no facilities in the room and outside also. They do not have any help in carrying your stuff. No elevators, no microwave in room, no vegetarian foods, no restaurants after 8:00, way small pool, very tiny room. Top of all, worst breakfast ever. I had to just checkout as my kids were not happy at all. During our stay they cutoff water to room completely without any notice and they have no accountability also. They just said there were repair schedule so it has to cutoff but no body bothered about guest problems. Bathroom is stinking all the time, could not sleep, tiny room that you cannot put your stuff in a managed way. Over all, I would not suggest for this one at all.

Yelp
Great food, kind and polite staff, tropical vibe, and.... Boobies! $1 donated to breast cancer for each Boobie!

Yelp
Came to Gilbert's to see a buddy of mine he's band play (Juanabe - they're a good 80's band in South Fl). Anyway, cool place in Key Largo. Food is good, cold beer and special cocktails. Right off the highway on the way to the Florida Keys and on the water. About 40 min. South of Miami (nice drive!). Definitely worth visiting! Great place to spend the afternoon while sipping on some beers/cocktails and taking in some Live Music. Beachy, island vibe. We'll be back!
google avatar

Ed W.

Yelp
Gilberts is always a great option when in key largo. This place has good food options and live music on weekends. The easy going vibe is the best. Just by coming here you feel like you are on vacation in some island. Try the oysters, conch chowder and fried hog fish. All really good. Their drinks are good as well. Rum runners, bloody mary, and a few others. Just stop by any day for a good time.

Yelp
Gilbert's is one of my favorite places in the keys. I absolutely love how you can enjoy being in the water and eat or drink on the sand. The relaxing vibe here makes you think like you're in a different country. This time I had dinner here. I tried the lobster bisque, fish tacos with the spicy margarita. Everything was delicious. The lobster bisque was creamy and the fish tacos were very tasty. The service was great. There was also live music, which made it more enjoyable. My favorite part about being here is that you can also catch the most beautiful sunset. It was stunning. I would definitely continue to come here to enjoy the water, food and drinks.

Yelp
Great vibes! Amazing drinks and staff is super friendly and welcoming. Food is always fresh and prices are unbeatable.

Yelp
Nice for tow dip in the sand while eating or drinking in the sprawling restaurant area. The drinks are average. The espresso martini is awful. Nice break between the

Yelp
Came to see one of our favorite local bands this Sunday and had a better experience here than last time. The fish dip and coconut shrimp were both good but unfortunately the mahi was flavorless. Overall this is a good spot to pass by and have drinks and enjoy the Keyes vibe. The service still needs improvement, but overall this is a nice spot to chill.

Yelp
When we first came in the receptionist, Yoli was super nice and very helpful. We sat at the cabana. Igor was our server. He was so helpful so nice making sure that we had water. We never ran out of drinks. He was always there to refill our drinks. He made sure that the cabana was stocked with towels for us. He was so nice. This is definitely a place to come and get away and relax. We definitely enjoyed our girls trip to Gilberts a must Place to come. Make sure you have Igor as your server he was fantastic!

Yelp
Wow! Amazing to sit on the beach on a Saturday day afternoon enjoying great food in an incredible atmosphere. Our food was 5 stars and so was the service. We had mahi mahi, clam chowder and a casar salad. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Having driven to Keys for 25 yrs, can't say why, but we've never stopped at Gilbert's. Our loss and we won't make that mistake again! Great place! I'd say a full service Keys experience. Boats, docking easy, lots of fun table options, great food choices, great food! I can see us just going there for a Few days getaway! Fun!
google avatar

Nina U.

Yelp
Gilbert's was so much fun. I'm so happy that we decided to sit under the canopy and not close to the water because there was a band that put on a show and it was super cool under the canopy. We originally went to have drinks and to people watch and I loved it. Parking can be limited and you will be notified by a parking attendant on duty. There is parking along the road leading up to the restaurant. Be aware that there is a long walk and signs alerting you of crocodile crossing. Whew! We had buffalo wings with ranch dipping sauce and they were tasty. We had a few boobies for drinks and they were also good! The servers were nice and the ambiance is beautiful as it is a waterfront and water sports are taking place. Definitely added to the list of must stops when we're in the Keys!
google avatar

Yelp
My family and I love coming to Gilbert's at any time! Great spot to stop in early to start your key's adventure with some lunch or end your key's adventure on your way back to the main land with dinner and live music or magic show or even for an evening night cap. They have available rooms to stay and the night and enjoy the sunset and sunrise . The service here has been excellent for all the times we've dined in. I have not stayed at this resort but hopefully one day I shall. The food here is always good and the boobies will get you on a nice tipsy tip. Seafood here is fresh and served quickly.

Yelp
Nice place to stop when you're on a boat or by car. Awesome live bands over the weekend but it does pack up the place. Had to stop here several times due to bad weather and I haven't been disappointed in food or drinks. Will keep coming back.

Yelp
Such a great location right on the gulf/bay side of Key Largo...but it just did not impress. We stopped here for lunch on a drive down the keys based on a recommendation from a friend. The place is huge, but it was really empty on a Thursday afternoon in October. I could see it being a really fun party place on weekends and holidays, with tons of seating under the tiki hut and also on the beach area. We got a great seat right by the water and waited longer than we should have for a server who seemed really annoyed to be at work that day. Their famous drink is a "Boobie" and that's a fun little schtick, though we went with regular daiquiris. Our frozen drinks were very tasty...and we also got some fried shrimp baskets which were just OK. Nothing special. But the reason for the low star rating is really due to the bathroom situation, which my friend described as going into the depths of hell when entering the women's room. And honestly, she is right. The space is big but so poorly lit. It was honestly pitch black in some of the stalls which is just not cool. And none, not a single one, of four sinks worked, nor did any of the hand dryers. It was bizarre. Avoid the women's room at all costs!

Yelp
Decent Stay, But Not Worth the Price I recently stayed at Gilbert's Resort, and while it had some positives, it didn't quite meet expectations for the price. The view was nice but not quite, and while the resort offers rental kayaks, I think it really wasn't worth it. Since most places offer the Kayaks for free no reservations needed The restaurant was a highlight the food was good, but the live music was extremely loud, even when sitting farther back. The private beach was disappointing nothing like the photos online. The room had a few issues, including a toilet that struggled to flush and some visible wear and tear. The free breakfast was underwhelming most places at this price point offer a full spread with waffles, sausage, eggs, and bacon, but here, it was pretty minimal. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience, but for the price, I'd expected more. Would probably look elsewhere next time.

Yelp
Hello everyone! Well Gilbert's is pretty much an institution in Key Largo , FL as it has been around since as far back as I can remember really. Interesting thing about Gilbert's is it is located on the bay side of the keys right next to a few lodges / hotels that are located in the immediate vicinity. Lots of busy traffic frequent Gilbert's and Blackwater Siren which is right across the way but that is another review. We visited on the tail end of Labor Day weekend so as you can imagine everything was hopping and the music was cranking. Great atmosphere as everyone was having a good time and the service and the food were very good as well. Full bar as can be expected so the libations and malt beverages were flowing. Lord knows our group performed our one taste tests of local Florida Keys beers which were on draft. Highly suggest you check them out as well. Considering there were quite a bit of people, did not feel crowded at all as Gilbert's has plenty of room for people to spread out. They have various straw hits with tables and some dining areas next to their make shift beach for people to sit and eat. Overall it was a great lazy afternoon at Gilbert's and our server was awesome as well. We had the usual conch fritters, smoked fish dip, burgers and Mahi sandwiches, all of which were very good, fresh and not greasy at all. Parking was not a problem at all which was surprising, but it has been in the past so keep that in mind. Overall, we had a great time and the food was very good as mentioned before. Check them out on your way down to the Florida Keys as I don't think you will be disappointed but you may want to try them out on a slower non holiday weekend if you want to avoid large crowds. Enjoy and Bon Appétit m'es amis!

Yelp
Waterfront dining at Key Largo sounds like a nice day am I right? Well... Gilbert's Resort Tiki Bar is mediocre at best. This is actually my second time visiting but I'm solely basing this review on my second visit. You might be wondering... if it's mediocre why go again? My mom insisted that she wanted to visit so we did on Father's Day. The Tiki Bar is pretty crowded but don't be fooled by the amount of people. When you arrive, you can seat yourself which can be a bit difficult considering it's full - as mentioned above. Once seated, the server attended us right away... can't complain. We ordered drinks to start: Russian Raspberry Mojito, a Modelo and a specialty frozen drink called "Pain in the Ass". My mom, whom ordered the Raspberry Mojito, was sooo dissatisfied with her drink she returned it (ironic, that this drink is considered a "staff favorite"). My dad who was looking to refresh himself with an ice cold beer was disappointed after taking a sip of his room temperature Modelo. I, on the other hand, can't complain about my drink because it was actually pretty delicious. My parents weren't too hungry and we decided to order the Guacamole, Chips and Salsa appetizer. I never thought that guac and chips could be so distasteful. The guacamole had absolutely no flavor. The chips might have been stored somewhere for a prolonged period of time because they tasted VERY stale. The only thing that saved this plate was the salsa. With this being said, we could only imagine that the rest of the food would be unpleasant as well and decided we'd opt to eat somewhere else instead. Aside from the food, it's a cool environment. There was a band playing when we arrived. A "beach" area for visitors to enjoy a dip in the water. I'd say the setting helps the overall rating of the restaurant. I would probably NOT visit a THIRD time, I've had enough. P.S. perhaps take some mosquito repellent. My dad wasn't having it with the mosquitos.

Yelp
This is a dope spot right off the highway! As we were leaving the keys we needed one more stop to get some sun and water and this was the perfect place. The ambience was beautiful and the vibe was energetic and fun!

Yelp
The Florida Keys is synonym with "laid back" and "relaxing". Even though it is only minutes away from Miami, when you get there, you might as well be a thousand miles away in a secluded part of the world. This us where time stops and the breeze sweeps your worries away. There are many places along the keys that you can stop and enjoy this tranquility, from Key West to Key Largo, and every now and then you come across a place you had never been before, which is what happened on Saturday. On Saturday, for the first time, I went to Gilbert's Resort. For some reason I had never ventured there before. Maybe I was always too eager to get to Isla Morada and the Tiki Bar. But now I know I don't have to go that far. Gilbert's has Tiki bars, cold drinks, good food and friendly service. And when there is a live band playing, there simply is no reason to go elsewhere. On Saturday, the band Exit Left was playing, and they are my favorite local band. I try to follow them wherever they go. I hear that the parking can be limited, and when it gets full, there are police officers who tell you to turn around, but I was there early enough to not face that situation. I considered staying over night in one of their rooms, but the price was higher than I would want to pay, especially given that I live 30 minutes away. But overall, if you are looking for a relaxed atmosphere with the mix of sand and sun, you don't need to go further south thanGilbert's.

Yelp
This resort has the largest tiki bar I think I have ever been to. This review is 100% about the Tiki Bar. I have not stayed at the resort. It has a private beach and a small pool next to the bar. They have live music, boat docks and jet ski/kayak rentals. There's covered and uncovered seating, food, and a lot of libations to choose from. The parking lot can be a challenge and if fills up QUICKLY! So, get there when they open.
google avatar

Caroline S.

Yelp
Fun place to visit when entering the Florida Keys. You can come by boat and they have a marine gas station which can be convenient. There's always live music and the small beach is great for kids to play.
google avatar

Gretzky F.

Yelp
Well this place has an amazing atmosphere. You can come with people of any age and they will like it. Plenty of tables thus some days is hard to find seating. Come and enjoy some drinks and delicious seafood
google avatar

Robert R.

Yelp
The location is great. Subset view is very nice. But the food at the restaurant? Terrible. The Tuna appetizer? Terrible. The lobster bisque? Super salty. The conch ceviche? Chewy and tough. Just not good. If not for the location from Miami homestead and the views, I'd give it 1 star rating. They need to improve the quality of their food.

Yelp
Went to the Keys with a few friends and we decided to go to Gilbert's/Tiki Bar. First time at Gilbert's restaurant. The scenery is nice. They have lots of tables under the tiki bar and several tables on the beach. We decided to sit on the sand by the water. Below are the reasons why I rated this restaurant a two star: Parking: Parking can be challenging since it is a restaurant and motel. If you don't get there early, you won't find a spot. Service: There were serval waiters that were ser of tables around us so I thought they would come to attend us, but nothing. We had to flag a waitress to provide us menus. Then our waitress came back and took our order. Food: I ordered the key largo fish sandwich and it was a fish in two buns. The lettuce and tomato were under the bun. And the condiments were on the side. It didn't have any flavor. I wasn't impressed. My friend ordered fish tacos and those looked really good and he said it was good but it is missing more of a side because it came with minimal chips. My other friend ordered the fish basket and he thought it was okay. Scenery/atmosphere: Although the restaurant is near a motel. The scenery was nice. You don't see the restaurant until you actually get there. We did enjoy a few dolphin sighting from our table so that was nice. I would go back now that I know what to expect, but not right away. They do appear understaffed.
google avatar

Rebecca A.

Yelp
Not a big fan of drinks that are super sweet. Both drinks were extremely sweet and strong in artificial flavor. The view is beautiful!
google avatar

Leslie S.

Yelp
I absolutely love this resort, it's worth paying a little extra to have a room on the ground level with a private deck. Beware of mosquitos, we are Floridians so we brought thermacells with us, so we could enjoy the deck without getting eaten up. The restaurant had live music all weekend, all seating is outdoors. We didn't partake because it was too many people for my taste during a pandemic, but we could hear the great music from our room deck. They didn't have complimentary breakfast because of the COVID-19, but they provided OJ and little muffins. Can't wait to return and properly party once the pandemic is under control.
google avatar

Martin Z.

Yelp
Average place for fried food and drinks to enjoy. Live music on random days. Pina coladas and beers on tap.
google avatar

Adelaine B.

Yelp
Lugar espectacular para pasar una tarde con buenas amistades o en familia. Comida rica y excelentes tragos!
google avatar

Steven H.

Yelp
Gilbert's is a go to place. But, know that nothing is getting cheaper. I'm always surprised at bills nowadays. 2 drinks and 2 appetizers cost almost $80 with the tip. Ouch#$@!! Surely there's a better deal in Key Largo, but I don't know where that is. Definitely not The Big Chill. Regardless we'll be back and still complain afterwards about the bill
google avatar

Luz M.

Yelp
Ambiance is definitely worth the drive from Sunrise, Fl. I've been coming to Gilbert's for a couple of years now, it's a nice spot for live rock n roll and amazing magic shows (check the schedule for the magic shows). The servers are always welcoming and eager to serve. The one time I did have a server that was bothered when asked for something the Manager handled the matter perfectly. The food is fresh and tasty the drinks are well made, there are options for not so sweet mixed drinks that I appreciate. Gilbert's will always be a fun spot to meet with friends day or night. The sunsets are beautiful and the option to ride your water toys is also a plus. There is an hotel for your stay if you want to make it weekend thing. Sorry for the bad pics on this review
google avatar

Yelp
Da Bomb. Period. I live in miami, and a quick ride down, it's the first tiki bar in the keys. Feet in the sand, coronas on ice. Plastic plates and utensils, so don't go crazy. Sokay by me.... Fresh stone crabs in season.... Maybe I should rate this joint really badly do you all do not go there -- then the secret would be out......

Yelp
Mini One Stop 24hr.Vacation Desperate to get out of Miami? At least for one night! Go to Gilbert's in Key Largo-- Everything you need, in one tiny Place... giant Tiki house with three large bars, great mojitos, wraparound views of bay, with motorboats zooming around. A criticism, the calamari is over breaded and so are the onion rings. Note to Chef, easy to fix, do it.... swimming pool and mini beach, lovely. Rock band and magician every Saturday and most weeknights. The rooms are modest and restored, cool glass shower. The water is over softened and so are the towels. So it feels like you can't get the soap off and then it feels like you can't get the water off. Easy to correct. Do it. Minor setbacks to an otherwise lovely day and night. Free breakfast the next morning!

Marcia H.

Yelp
So we have been coming to Gilbert's Tiki Bar for over 25 years... We love the atmosphere , food and enjoy the live bands they have. Yesterday we drove down from Broward County with friends in from Dallas. We ordered fish dip which was good. My husband had mahi sandwich which was good. But myself and our two guest had mahi lightly battered basket with sweet potato fries. The mahi was so thinly cut that there was more batter than fish. Then it was over cook and very dry. I was so upset because we had our friends that really wanted a good Mahi meal.. I'm not sure if this is the quality of food they are putting out or we just had a bad meal. Either way not sure we will be returning any time soon.

Yelp
The food is reasonable for a bar especially a tiki bar. To be honest we came for the band sippin fire we'd love to follow. I had a wedge salad with tuna which was your basic salad the blue cheese was not very good to be honest. It was more like a lot of mayonnaise and a little blue cheese. I did have fish spread smoked which is okay but it was a little bit salty. Overall though it's a great place to visit especially because of the water access and there's so much to do there with the beach and the docks especially if you have a boat. In the beginning the service was really good when there were a few people there but as it got busy of course the service was waning. They also mandated 20% tip for over $100 which I understand they need money but you should judge them on their quality of service.
google avatar

Liliana L.

Yelp
For us Floridians, the Florida Keys represent a gateway to another world, another dimension. A place where you leave all your problems behind, where there is no hurry, where the concept of time is nonexistent. Where during the day, you find the shade of a palm tree by the ocean, sip on your favorite drink and watch the changing of the tides. Where at night, you find a place under a Tiki hut with good food, good drinks and a live band, and you sing along with the band or dance the night away. But of course, you have to drive to the keys and depending on your destination, that can be long drive. And that is the beauty of Gilbert's resort. It is one of the first spots on the road that presents everything you would want without making a drive. There is normally plenty of parking, but on crowded weekends, it can fill up and then you have to think of backup plans, but after that, you are home free. You can follow the music to a Tiki where there is a nice breeze. The food is good and the service is even better. After food, you can take your drink and take a walk by the beach and enjoy the sunset. And another good thing is that if you don'tget enough of Sunland fun, you can get a room there and do it again the next day.

Yelp
We were staying locally and wanted a place we could boat up to, so we thought we'd try the tiki bar across the way. We were not disappointed. The band, who we could hear playing from our spot, was absolutely fabulous. Working the crowd well, playing so many great crowd-rousing songs -- I could have watched them go all night. The drinks were excellent (drinker beware: the bartender, at least on this particular night, is heavy-handed; the "boobie" drinks will catch up to you!). The restaurant itself is large and very spread out, so the servers were plenty busy running from end to end; still, we didn't wait too long for anything. Once it arrived, the food was great. The fish was obviously fresh, not frozen (this is a big one for me, since this is Florida, and fresh fish isn't hard to come by). Everything was seasoned well and I was satisfied. All in all, we would be back. We were happy with everything, and I can't wait to come back for some more boobie drinks on future trips to the Keys.

Yelp
We paid $350 to stay here. this is at least $100 more tHan the average price of the other hotels in the area. anchorage resort right beside them was charging $250. So since we were paying a premium I didn't expect to go to the restaurant and have the bartender cheat us. this review is for the restaurant and for the bartender that pulled a fast one on us. He was working the bar on Thursday jan 2,2025 around 530pm. Short and stocky with a beard. Brown hair or dirty blondish but not black hair. Came to this bar because we are staying here and got a 10 percent off coupon at check in. I ordered a drink from the bar and asked him if I could use the 10percent off with the drink. He tries to dissuade me by saying it only can be used once so it's better to use it on a larger bill. I'm thinking well that's pretty assumptive that you would assume we will be having dinner here. I tell him no it's ok I'll use it on my drink. He says I need to show him the coupon which I didn't have on me but I had my wristband on showing I was indeed staying at the hotel. He makes me go get the coupon so I go back to the room to find it and then give it to him. When I show him the coupon he asks me a second time are you sure you want to use it bec you won't be able to use it again on your larger bill and I assure him yes I want to use it on my cocktail . I give him the coupon and then he rings me up, after I pay I look at the receipt and the menu again and after all that, he deliberately charged me the full price. What is wrong with this dude, we had multiple conversations and the coupon is a promotion from the hotel/restaurant, he was clearly just being a dick. Considering we were staying here, we could have chosen to have lunch/dinner and drinks here many more times but with how this idiot pulled a fast one, I told my husband I rather drive out to the restaurants than spend our money at this restaurant. To the owner, this bartender is doing some shady things. Don't give the coupons out to encourage your guests to eat and drink here if the employees deliberately don't honor it. Never had this happen before At any hotel restaurant. This guy clearly cannot claim ignorance because we literally had two full conversations about me wanting to use this coupon at the front desk person gave me. AND he even made me go back and get the coupon. Very very shady.

Yelp
We drove down to the Keys on a Monday to avoid the weekend crowds and it was great! We spent time at the Tiki Bar with 2 other couples. We had the place to ourselves basically. A few people were swimming and kayaking. There were lots of birds to watch. A nice view from the bar table. About 3 cars were in the parking lot. The food was average, we had Clam Chowder, Lobster Bisque, and Peel and Eat Shrimp. They were skimpy on the clams and lobster. The shrimp were bland. Over all, it was relaxing, quiet and we would go back for the peacefulness and view.

Yelp
I love this place! The atmosphere is the best. Live bands are great. Becky is the best bartender. But the food is just ok. And the prices are kinda expensive.

Yelp
I love the atmosphere, seeing the bikes and appreciate the added security measures. I love the wings and the crab & conch fritters. Drinks are ok. This is a cool spot to hang out with friends while having some drinks on your way to the lower keys or on your way back. However, get there early or you will find yourself having to walk. Theres no communication between the front parking and the the parking near the tiki bar. Once the parking is full they'll close it and you'll have to park under the bridge as people leave and space opens up because theres no communication they will still not allow you in so gets there early!

Yelp
Beware if you have an emergency and need to cancel your reservation at this place. We had a one night reservation and had something come up. We called, sent messages and emails 9 days before our reservation to cancel and received no response. Then they tried to charge our credit card. Their policies state that you must cancel 72 hours in advance which we did. It is a 2 star motel, I guess that means bad customer service.

Yelp
Great service by the staff who are all friendly and accommodating and amazing food! The Philly cheesesteak was the main event of our visit. We were seated right by the water and the views were very pleasant and calming.

Yelp

Yelp
I heard that Gilbert's recently had become more "Miamified" and that it was always packed full of people from Miami, thus changing the vibe and feel of the place. Well, I went on a Friday night and it was dead. I wasn't upset about it seeing as we were just stopping in for a couple drinks and appetizers. Service was pretty good. The food..... ok, so we had oysters and stone crab. The oysters were okay, nothing major. Some were small, some were huge. I like them somewhere in between but quality wise they were alright. We got our half pound of stone crab we ordered and we were suprised to see how many we got. We were so happy. Quality wise, probably our least favorite in the keys. And we've had a ton at different spots during stone crab season this year. It's so important how the person preparing them cracks them. Whoever they had back there did not crack them well. We ended up doing the majority of the cracking ourselves. They also seemed a bit over cooked. They had a rubbery texture. My least favorite part was the sauce they gave us..... it was some sort of coconut flavored mayonnaise.. at least that's what it tasted like. When we received the bill, we realized we got so many stone crab because we were charged for a whole pound, not half a pound. Lol, so there went that excitement. I guess during the day and just for drinks would be the way to go here at Gilbert's and I'm sure I would've been more satisfied. But on this night, not so much.

Yelp
This resort was amazing! The staff was super friendly and helpful with any questions or concerns we had. The restaurant here was amazing, the service was quick and attentive, and they had live music every night. As for the pool and private beach, I was very pleased by the cleanliness and comfortability! Not only was the staff friendly, but the guests staying there as well as the locals visiting to fish and eat at the restaurant were so nice as well. I made friends and was able to even fish! The boardwalk and docks alongside the resort are so beautiful and great for boat-watching, fishing, and watching sunrises/sunsets. We were also able to see a crocodile that lives there and some manatees! The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and the showers were amazing! If I return to Key Largo, I will definitely stay here again.

Yelp
I honestly love this place! It's not too far of a drive from miami and it's the perfect mini day get-away. They have tasty cocktails and yummy food. The service is hit or miss. This place is all outdoors. All seating it covered under what looks like a ginormous cheekie - the breeze is always nice. There is also a "beach" there with lots of lay down chairs available. First come first serve.
