Review Absolutely outstanding. I was welcomed with sincere friendliness, clear explanations, and real care. The fish was exceptionally fresh, regional, and incredibly delicate in flavour — easily among the finest I have ever tasted. The ingredients were balanced with genuine craftsmanship, making the bowl both light and deeply satisfying. Price and quality are perfectly aligned, and the whole experience felt personal rather than transactional. I am truly impressed and will remember this meal for a lifetime. Best Pokebowl in town. Fully recommended without hesitation.

On a tour from San Francisco (shout-out Dylan's Tours!), we had an hour and a half for lunch in Sausalito. We walked over to grab Poke from Gilligans and were NOT disappointed! Got the Spicy Ahi on brown rice, and it was amazing. Rice was tender, fish was fresh, not too spicy. Grabbed drinks from the attached store and walked over to a local park (suggested to us at Gilligans) and had a beautiful lunch. Do not sleep on this spot!

I have been going here almost 2 years. I travel from Sonoma county. Lately quality is in decline. My last visit, I noted fish was overly salty. REALLY SALTY. Not sure why. Noted wasabi poke now has mayo. Lots of mayo. Not good. This will be my last visit. Fish is not good

Simple location, inside a convenience store. Found the location on Google Maps and took a little bit to find the actual location but it has a nice and simple set-up. Options are few but the staff was friendly, the service quick and the food delicious.

Decent poke, subpar rice. 2 ingredients to this menu item. Poke and rice. The poke is okay. I got the shoyu tuna with white rice. The tuna was good, but I didn't think it had enough flavor to it. The rice was dry and hard and did not pair well with the fish. Portion is not very big, but it's only $14

Tucked in the back of a bodega sits this new little poke stand that’s delicious. Owner came from Oahu and you can taste it in his food! Best value and meal you could get in Sausalito that frees you up to go sit by the water with it and look at the boats. Especially loved the creamy, spicy yellowfin. 5 stars!!!!

Incredible poke and the nicest guys behind the counter! Got the spicy ahi and limu ahi over warm brown rice, topped with a side of seaweed salad. Perfection. Have also had the fish salad/spread and it’s equally amazing. Don’t miss Gilligan’s!

If you're in the area, make a stop here. You absolutely will not regret it! My wife and I were staying on a houseboat in Sausalito and stopped here for something for dinner. Since we were having a small charcuterie for dinner, we got some smoked fish dip. It was FABULOUS! I can't wait to be back in the area. I want more dip!

This poke shop was a fun little hideaway in the back of a convenience store to visit when we were in the area. I was craving poke and brought my boyfriend here to try. The place was empty so it was extremely easy to get our order in. They had three different types available but we ordered a poke bowl with the spicy tuna. Service was quick and incredibly efficient. As for the poke itself, the overall flavor we agreed on was severely lacking. The fish itself tasted incredibly fresh and had a great mouth feel. I felt it needed more salt, soy, or just overall spice because it didn't taste like much even though it was supposed to be spicy. Only ended up here because I had a craving for poke and it was the nearest place that offered poke in the area. Probably would return to try the other flavors and hope they have more flavor

Confused that I was walking into a random market at first but then I saw the beautiful Poke shop in the back! Super empty when I walked in around 11:11 AM. The sweet boy helped me out and catered to my 2 oz of each poke type request to which I had with brown rice, seaweed salad and some spicy garlic edamame. I would definitely say go for shoyu!! I believe shoyu is the one that has the sauce on the side - the other 2 poke flavors were okay..

Gilligan's Poke is one of the few Bay Area poke shops that's owned and operated by people from Hawaii. I suppose that doesn't guarantee that the poke will be good but as a Hawaii person recently transplanted to Northern California (and who has mostly been afraid to eat "poke" here) I thought I'd open my mind for once and give this spot a shot. It did not disappoint. Gilligan's is tucked into the back of a very average convenience store in a cute residential neighborhood a couple of miles north of the touristy part of Sausalito. They have a few other items in the fridge for sale but mostly just sell three kinds of poke by the pound or in a bowl. I got a bowl with the spicy ahi and a bit of the shoyu limu ahi. The fish was really fresh, high quality, with a perfect texture and not a single string. Seasonings were tasty but not overpowering. I am a spicy ahi guy and enjoyed theirs but I loved the shoyu limu even more. So ono! This will sound petty but the one part of my poke bowl that I didn't enjoy was the rice which was dry and maybe a bit undercooked. Sad face. Next time, I'll plan better, bring a cold pack, stick to the fish, and cook rice at home!

The spicy ahi here tasted a little fishy, likely because we visited towards the end of the day. At 4 pm they were completely sold out of the shoyu and limu poke, so we settled for the remaining spicy ahi. Make sure to come early for the best selection!

Poke was good, but not amazing. For arriving there at lunch time it was surprising how little they had left, they even ran out of white rice so we had to do half white half brown. Two bowls is gonna cost $30. I miss that Hawaii Foodland Poke so much...

A hidden gem for sure! Did not expect to find such delicious and fresh poke walking in downtown Sausalito. It's located right towards the back of Sausalito Market and I highly recommend everyone try it out. The tuna is thick and soft and tossed in delicious marinades, my favorites being shoyu and spicy ahi. the server (which I'm guessing is Gilligan) is great and allowed us to sample the different flavors before choosing one! For just $14 a bowl, this was definitely worth it! Wish the portion was larger though because I wasn't completely full after finishing my bowl. Loved the fisherman themed decor at the poke ordering station!The rest of the market had a wide variety of snacks and drinks to take with you on the go. the poke fish is delicious, especially the spicy fish. And the smoked fish dip are excellent, with crackers bought on site. to recommend!

My wife heard of this place and really wanted to try and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality. Very delicious tuna, tasting fresh, sauce was well made, and rice is nice and warm. It's a small but mighty shop. Great for lunch or if you're passing through the area. The server was also very friendly!

I've been on the hunt for authentic Hawaiian Poke in the Bay Area. And this comes as close to it! I got the Lumi and Spicy Ahi Bowl. It was flavorful without overpowering the freshness of the Ahi! The Spicy Ahi is mild... The service was quick and easy! The spot is in the back of a convenience store. Everyone was super friendly! Very chill and happy vibes all around. I'll definitely make the drive from the East Bay to satisfy the craving!

We stopped by Gilligan's on our way up North as we were passing through Sausalito. Tucked away in the back of a market was Gilligan's and we were treated with such great energy and service. For about $15 you get your choice of white or brown rice and then poke. I'm not sure if the flavors of like rotate, but the day we went there was Shoyu Ahi, Spicy Ahi and Limu Ahi. The price was pretty steep in my option, considering the depth of the bowl for wa a half the size compared to what you'd get at another Poke shop. We got the Spicy Ahi and Limu Ahi and I would say quality wise, the ahi was very fresh and melt in your mouth. However, I wish that there was more oomph in flavor. Overall, I'm giving Gilligan's 4 stars because of the great service and freshness of ahi!

The fish was definitely up there. it wasn't like it was sitting there for a while. I'm not sure we can truly compare the taste to the authentic poke of Hawaii. I mean, if you really have to have poke in Marin and there is no other spot, then this would do, I guess. Service was ok, it as simple as what's your order, only 3 to choose from, rice or no rice and then take your order and pay at the exit. Take out only so there is no ambiance. Went to the park across and sat there, enjoyed the sun, and ate my poke. Bowl was $15 for reference

In December Gilligan's poke bowls were running $12 a pop. By February the price had jumped to $13. Now it's May and they're $14 apiece. I understand that everything is going up in price but Gilligan's is outpacing the actual inflation rate by a fairly significant amount. That said, it's still likely one of the lower priced lunchtime take-out (only) options in Sausalito. Gilligan's features 3 versions of poke atop your choice of hot white or brown rice with a sprinkle of Furikake if desired. It's quick, simple, very fresh, and filling and I'm certain I'll return. That said though, I'll not opt for the Ahi Limu Poke as it did little to thrill me. I'd planned to consume my poke bowl later but I noticed that the rice atop which the poke was placed was hot when I got it. Concerned that the poke would inadvertently cook if I didn't consume it soon, I found a nearby bench and started eating, plans be damned. Marin isn't a hotbed of poke bowl joints so it could be said that Gilligan's is filling a void. The bowls are nothing like my favorite poke bowl place in SoCal where fish and rice are a backdrop to all the other add-ons, but if you're happy with a more spartan (and still very fresh) poke bowl, you'll likely be satisfied with what Gillian's offers.

Very fresh fish! This place is located in the back of the supermarket. It offers tuna poke with 3 types of flavors. I got a bowl with white rice and 2 mixed flavors. The tuna tasted super fresh and the sauces were well seasoned. The rice was served hot but not the best Japanese rice quality I've had. For the portion, the bowl is on the pricey side. It would've been a 5/5 if the rice quality is better. I got the bowl and had it in the nearby park. It's a great picnic food!

I come here often as I live down the street, the pokes great, but was just served undercook rice... hard and unedible

Food 8/10 Super super fresh tuna!! Really liked how much they packed into one bowl of poke at a super reasonable price. I got the regular and the spicy tuna, I liked the spicy tuna more as it had more flavor and seasoning. The seaweed salad was also quite solid. Atmosphere 7/10 Located within a grocery store, there's not much atmosphere to comment on except that the poke looked really fresh in front of me. We sat by the water but a wasp kept on terrorizing us but that's not relevant to the restaurant lmao. Did not obtain pictures of this wasp. Service 8/10 They let my friend try the poke but not me :( but also I was already very set on which flavor to get so that's that.

If you want to have a real poke bowl, please try to make it to Sausalito. The Gillian's poke bowl is so simple but very authentic. Great value, tasty, fresh! Chef Zane is just amazing guy from Hawaii, he is so devoted to his beloved dishes! I can't help recommending to everyone.

Unassuming poke offering. Staff was very friendly. Limu ahi was fresh and tasty. They really let the fish speak for itself! Needed a pinch of Hawaiian salt, but overall solid.

Fresh poke in the back of a bodega. The poke employees were super friendly so the ambiance was great! It was 2pm so they were almost out of Poke as they only had mainly spicy ahi and a bit of limu ahi left. Both tasted really fresh and the warm rice was the cherry on top. I feel like the $14 poke is priced more than reasonable considering we're in the Bay Area and it tastes authentic. It's pretty hard to find authentic poke up here in the Bay, the only other place I can think of is down in San Jose so finding this place was a gem. The portion sizes are perfect - my boyfriend and I were extremely hungry too since we had just ended a hike. Will definitely come back when we're back in the area, and will need to try the shoyu!

Super good! I really loved how fresh the Poke was and it was a great proportion. The selection is a bit small because it's a very small shop inside a convenient store, but my recommendation is the Spicy Ahi.

Probably the most authentic Hawaiian poke I've had around the Bay Area. Located in the back of a grocery store, they typically have the same three options of tuna every day--Shoyu, Spicy, and Limu. When we went later in the afternoon, they ran out of Limu, but I was happy to try the other two regardless. You can order poke by the pound or in a rice bowl. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and happy to answer any questions. It is a great hidden gem for sure!

Gillians is a quaint little corner store poke shop nestled in the back of a Sausalito market. You'll be in luck if you gander over and give the stuff a try. You might worry about the freshness of the fish being served, but worry not; I've never had any concern whatsoever regarding the freshness or quality of the ingredients in my 5 visits over the last 6 months. The rice comes out piping hot, and the poke so beautifully fresh and chilled. Throw some furikake seasoning on that combo and you've got yourself one mean poke bowl. Plus - they've got some serious street cred. Check out all the die-hard poke fans from places like Hawaii in here talking this place up. That's how you know Gillians is the real deal. Each and every one of the employees I've interacted with have been perfectly conversational and engaging - it seems like they actually enjoy working there, and care about the food they serve. Make sure you get there before 2pm if you want the whole array of poke options - shoyu, spicy ahi, and limu. BONUS TIP: You can order half-half of 2 types. My personal favorite is half spicy ahi, and half shoyu. Then, I'll grab a soy sauce packet by the register with a huge smile on my face and be on my way!

Gilligan's Poke shop is a gem, located in the back of the Sausalito Market on Pine & Caledonia. Great atmosphere! Great Hawaiian style poke! And great staff! We grabbed enough for the family and walked down to a park on the water for a picnic! Highly recommend!

I cannot rave about this place enough. I've now tried all 3 poke varieties and the wakame salad. Everything is fresh and delicious! This is a must stop in Sausalito - I agree with the other reviewer best value meal in town by far! I cannot wait to see how they continue to grow.

We visited Sausalito after a morning hike in the Marin Headlands. We were seeking something fresh for lunch. Gilligans Poke Shop is a hidden gem inside a local market, Sausalito Market. When I was there, they had 3 difficult types of poke. We got the limu ahi and spicy ahi. The portions were great for the price (just $13 but price may change in the future). The fish was fresh. I recommend also grabbing a packet of soy sauce since there isn't so much sodium/salt in the poke.

Fish was fresh and the sauces were very flavorful. However, the portion size was tragically small for the price and was not filling. The cashier was also severely rationing the fish. If you just want an average bowl of poke, you might wanna look somewhere else. Hidden inside of a convenience store so it is quite a hidden spot.

Excellent Fresh Poke ‼ Zane has created a go to place, In my neighborhood I feel lucky that I am so close. Go early because it disappears quickly. The ambiance makes me feel like I am back in the islands.

Epic. The best spot for lunch in Sausalito by far. I'm including every restaurant in town, the poke bowl from Gilligans beats them all. High quality fish, good portion, fair price ($12, just on the edge of affordable and expensive, which is the Goldilocks zone for business). Right now they offer three different types of Poke bowls and all three are great. Perfect rice and perfect flavoring. Just a couple things I hope to see change in the future. #1 I hope they move to a different to-go container without increasing price. I know the paper containers are more expensive and will cut into profit, just not a fan of single use plastics. #2 Avocado addition option for $2 or maybe $3. Avocado Poke bowls are to die for #3 plain and garlic edamame side dish. #4 scoop mac salad side #5 salad green and poke option with less or no rice. Anyways, just a few suggestions. As of right now it's amazing, a couple of added options and it's the perfect lunch stop. Service is great and friendly. The design and update of the market is clean and looks really neat. You can tell the owner takes pride in his poke stand. (There's nothing worse than a dirty poke shop) I never used to go into Sausalito Market but will probably now start shopping there more often. Keep up the good work!

Hands down, best poke I've ever had! You're not gonna get the California style poke that you might be used to, but you honestly don't need it at all! The straightforward rice and tuna only is amazing and you don't need all the extra veggies. Gilligan's is the best!!

This spot is unassuming, but don't let that keep you from stopping in because the poke is delicious, fresh and the service was also great. Will definitely be back here when we're in the area

Just found it today on my lunch break and put down my snacks and ran to order one. Great options and wonderful taste. I'm Hawaiian and because of that I have eaten soooo many types of poke bowls. This is bomb! It's a hidden gem in the back of the liquor store. I'll be returning for sure. Worker was kind and helpful as well.

Love this place! Fresh, high quality tuna served three ways (spicy, shoyu, and limu) and with the right mix of furikake in the rice. Tasty and filling. My husband and I usually share an order with a side of wakame salad. I highly recommend giving them a try! And another try!

Amazing poke! We have been looking for a decent poke spot in the Sonoma area for a while, and although it's a bit of a drive for us, it's WORTH IT! The fish quality was as good as some of the poke I have had in Maui HI, and it's so simple. Rice and fish! Love it. Will be back soon for sure!

Honestly can't say much because I called and they don't have gluten-free alternatives. I'm rating based upon initial reaction and hoping they offer some choices for Gluten-conscious crowd (which is probably half the locals!!!)

Pretty sure I've never had Poke before but somehow when I heard about this place I immediately had a craving ?! Warm brown rice topped with a generous amount of spicy saucy tuna with roe and seaweed it exceeded my expectations or should I say it was all I had hoped for Delicious, affordable and healthy! Save the airfare to the Islands and grab some poke here. SIMPLY PUT: OUTSTANDING!!! Clean flavors. Impeccably fresh tuna. Simple however authentic preparation and absolutely delicious. Brown rice was an unexpected treat. Yah the brown rice! Owner is passionate about what he sells and full of integrity. On our regular rotation for sure.
