Gillman's Classic Drive-In

We are from Oregon,here visiting family. The burgers were delicious,fries hot and good sized. I am a picky hamburger and fry person,was definitely delicious! Friendly service. Thank you!

Double Ranch Cheese Burger was a delicious, hefty classic burger. Washed it down with a vanilla float that was just the right mix of soft serve/soda. Tasty solid food although the turnaround was a bit long (15 minutes). Couple of tables with umbrellas out front for dining.

This is my first time eating here at Gillman's. I ordered a double fat boy w/cheese, (no relish, no onions) with a side of garlic fries and a pineapple shake. The attitude and friendliness of the staff, show you their appreciation for your business. The down to earth, chill atmosphere is a nice place to sit down and enjoy a meal. The food. . .let me tell you about the food music I could taste. From the fresh grilled london broil beef patties to the lightly sweet cool crunch of the lettuce and tomato. Garlic fries had just the right amount of diced garlic and melted cheese to not overpower any other item that it is ordered with. Everything was perfectly cooked to order with an intent to satisfy the most famished of customers. Truly great food with reasonable prices! Go and try for yourself when you're in Oakdale!

I normally love this place but they have changed their milkshake cups since I was last there. I thought they gave me wronge size since I asked for their large and it looked small. But my daughter irdered the smaller size and cup was smaller then mine. Took it home and placed on food scale and it was less then the advertised weight of a large. Was much as I loved their shakes I will not order a shake again. But their burgers at least last time I was there were good. Shakes are good they should say xs and small and change ounces from their sign. But makes it super expensive for tiny shake.

Wow! Amazing meat flavor with a different twist, Mustard relish! Who knew that would be so tasty. This place is a classic for over 50 years!

This place has great food. Always freshly made. The burger was really flavorful and delicious. Support this local drive-in rather than the Oakdale Sno-white drive in.

Food is great. The staff works hard and is very friendly. My wife and I love to catch a quick lunch date here without the kids. When it's sunny and you can sit outside you're transported to a simpler time. Great company, a super solid burger, onion rings or fries (definitely onion rings), and a chocolate malt. Love this little place.

Just wanted to drop a little love for the Gillman ladies! This was dinner for the electric linemen that were cleaning up the messes that mother (who's off her meds) nature decided to toss around California this morning/today (when it was written and I forgot to hit post hahah) 1/10/23. They close earlier than what I needed dinner ready for but the nice ladies stayed late to give my guys a meal made with love Since they're away from their families for you and yours getting the power back on we appreciate you more than you know. . I was so busy at work today that my BLT (by far my favorite ever from anywhere) didn't get eaten. Until I got home that is! It was delicious even though it was cold. Ohhh and this was 5 hours after picking it up. Popped it the fridge and enjoyed it after work having a beer after work! Time off well spent. This was my first time here. I initially saw the menu and I am not gonna lie....I said "whew, it's a little spendy." BUTTTTTTTT.... I ordered all of the things...it ended up being $40 exactly for 2 of us. I got the Mushroom Swiss Burger, double bacon cheeseburger, fries (there is only one size), cheese sticks, and a large soda (to share- diet of course because it cancels the calories, right?). Anyhow the lady hands us this bag and makes sure to tell us NOT to tilt or place the bag in any other way that how she handed it to us or "else you will have a mess and it won't be my fault." We walked away puzzled but humored nonetheless. Let me tell you.... THIS BURGER WAS HUGEEEEEEE! it ended up being 3 meals for me. SOOOOOO worth the $14! I happily ate my words & this amazing burger. We will be back! Next time we will order a shake (or two?). The ambiance....well...there is a patio area with tables. It was raining so we chose to get our food and go. Soooo if you are in the area & they are open....go check them out.

Classic local burger joint. Good selection of burgers and other must haves like hot dogs and corn dogs. I had the Western ranch 1/3 lb burger. It was cooked well and tasted great.

Friendly service with a smile and superb icecream and shakes! The chocolate dipped soft serve icecream were humangous and the salted caramel shake was delicious. It took a bit to get it as they hand crafted everything but it sooooo worth the wait! Definitely stopping here for lunch next time we are passing through.

This place is theBOMB! The lady who took our order greeted us with a cheerful smile(not the usual these days). Food portions were huge & prices way below what they should have been for how good it all was. Hubby had the mushroom burger & couldn't even finish it! Fries & onion rings were crisp & seasoned perfectly. Everything was cooked to order so expect a bit of a wait but totally worth it! Kids all had shakes & they are definitely handmade! Only downside is they aren't open on Saturday & Sunday so we won't be able to stop on our way back.

So so good! I'm loving the customizable Humdinger! I like the fries, but could be crispier! The Earl always orders something different and he is impartial. I'd recommend this place because it's not only nostalgic, but serves great burgers that are better than Sno-White!!! Plus, great shakes!!!

I love this place, the ranch western bacon cheeseburger is the best, And the ranch bacon fries, and great ladies who work there. Gillman's is classic hometown burger joint. They cook fresh to order so expect delicious food, but the wait is worth it.

This is my family's go to for burgers. They are the sweetest people and we have always loved our food. Their shakes are delicious. Be prepared to wait about 10-15 minutes, sometimes longer if it's lunch during the school day because they are making it to order, it's not McDonald's. If you don't want to wait then you can call it in.

The Fat boy burger was very good like a classic burger should be like before McDonald's, Burger King, n carls Jr. Garlic fries was smothered in garlic. Omg I needed the garlic intake today. Outstanding. Next time I must try one of the shakes . Friendly lady at the window. Now food coma all the way home.

My name is Ethan I give this place 5 stars. We stopped for lunch on our way to Yosemite and the service here was so friendly onion rings were out of this world and the burgers were amazing. The employees thanked us multiple times for coming and we made sure to leave them a very nice tip.

I had a great experience here due to the fact that they had amazingly friendly customer service. The food was okay. But the milkshakes for sure sent my tastebuds in a frenzy. Definitely will be back for their milkshakes!

BURIED TREASURE - I was surprised by the absence of any line. Everything is made fresh (and surprisingly clean and healthy, for a burger joint), prices are low, and the staff are small-town friendly. One of the best lunches I've had this summer!

Great place for a delicious, juicy burger and some yummy fries. It could probably be classified as a dive, but don't let that stop you from enjoying some good food. I'm looking forward to eating there again soon

This has been the go to place for high school students here in oakdale for generations. I can totally understand stand why, the food is simply amazing. The owners do so much to give back to our community as well. I can remember many times that fundraiser need to take place for funeral or a sick child & they always open their parking lot for car washes. We right now have a teenager who is fighting a rare form of leukemia.The owner open up on her day off , just to make the favorite meal for that individual. If that does not speak volumes about the owners character, I don't know what will.

Classic hamburger and great onion rings. I haven't been able to get passed the staples. They are so delicious Just be sure they are open before you go. Free shakes for veterans you gotta love that. But like I said be sure they are open before going.

Had a Fatboy w/ Cheese after getting my haircut at Norm's. Wonderful classic style burger joint. No complaints. They do accept credit cards.

If you want a good burger with some great tots and an amazing shake! Come here. The food is great! The lady's who work here are so friendly! I crave the burger from there sometime. And the shakes... sooooo creamy. Hands down, best burger place in Oakdale! If you drive past it. Stop in and have some tots or onion rings or even a Far boy you won't leave here hungry.

Oh yeah! Has to be the best burger in town. If not someone please tell me where in Oakdale is better. Called in they said 15 minutes took 20 but that extra 5 is worth it. This hands down is the best spot.

I've eaten here before not a lot coming back from am errand thought I'll get my fried burrito and a fry...during school lunch ok she kinda didn't want too take my order I told her I just want a burrito and sm fry... ok I get there she's kind of rude asked if I had a order said yes told her what it was few min later she calls me head back to work start to eat my fries cold and over salted...really won't go back fries are everything

We normally go to another Oakdale drive through for burgers but they don't have the same family charm as Gillman's. Nor the tasty shakes and burgers. I thought that I had written a review for this place some time ago and upon reviewing my photos I was surprised to find that I never did. Because this place deserves it. It's off of the beaten path a bit but not lost to history. The folks who served us were as proud of their establishment as anyone can be and it showed in the quality of the food. Anyone who has had a really well prepared, old fashioned hamburger or cheeseburger will easily recognize the quality here and return for more every time. I'm only sorry that I don't live closer as I'd really rather frequent these folks than any place locally. The shakes are delicious. We had a huge strawberry shake and it was thick with fruit. Finally I would recommend this place simply because it's a family run joint and as such the people who run it make you feel at home. If something's not right they'll do what they can-within reason-to fix it. I remember they said something about a family disagreement over whether the place would remain standing but it seems that the place is still open since our visit. So please go check them out so that they live to see another day.....the alternatives in Oakdale are middling......

This place is a staple. The food is affordable and delicious. The amount of flavors available for shakes is a dream come true. Definitely worth stopping by and the service is quick and friendly. Love this place!! (Black Forest shake is the best one in my opinion)

Amazing Burgers for generations! Locally owed and operated, This is an old school burger joint with a walk up window and outside seating. Outstanding service and great old fashion burgers shakes and side. If your tiered of the fast food, fast passed slapped together processed food joints this is the place for you. What a gen in the rough. I have been in Oakdale for years and just kept overlooking this place, mainly because of the lack of a dining facility. I ordered a mushroom swiss burger and seasoned curly fries. I arrived after the rush hour and it was a little bit of a wait but well worth it. Delicious. Had to eat it with a fork and take 1/2 home for dinner. I went back later in the week and ordered a regular cheeseburger and tater tots. People rave about the shakes. Bet they are good too!

THIS IS THE WORST EXPERIENCE IVE EVER HAD AND I WILL NEVER COME BACK. I ordered a burger and waited 30 minutes and the burger was sloppy and soggy and I took one bite and it was gross. So I walked up to window and asked if I can have just a plain cheeseburger. And the lady literally was so rude and said that's how the burger comes and I said okay well I don't like it so can I get something else and she was so rude I told her I wanted a plain burger like 3 times and she was hostile and told me she has a million things to do and she can't remember what I want. So I said it's fine I don't want anything after being yelled at so she took my burger and didn't refund me my money. This was the worst customer service ever. So I literally wasted my time and money, and didn't even get to eat. This place is dishonest and they should have at least given me my money back. I'm disgusted. DONT EAT HERE.

Gilmans is hands down bomb .. so good I recommend this spot for some great grub Bring your friends and family

Truely an American classic. This place should be on all Roadfood lists and such. Always stopped here to and from Yosemite. The only minus is the early closing time, forcing one to drive like the proverbial "Bat out of Hades" from Yosemite to make the closing time. However, many a time we just barely made the closing and they still cooked burgers for us. Burgers, fries and shakes are like the Olde Soda Shoppe ones of lore, with perhaps more care and quality. Also, more consistent that the good place way up the road. Oakdale sure has some quality places for such a rinky-dink town. ( I apologize. ) It seemed that every small town in the countryside had these quaint establishments before the advent of fast food. I hope that this one will outlast all the fast food places.

HAVE AGAIN: Outstanding chocolate milk shake! Many, many years ago, I'd always get the Humdinger Burger. But in recent years, I was lured away by the Ranch Burger with bacon and cheese. So, today Humdinger - lettuce, tomato (a nice thick slice), pickles, onions, ketchup and mustard and NO cheese (it doesn't come with cheese). It was very good - a nice sized, tasty and delicious old-fashioned burger.

We LOVE Gillman's! The best hamburger (Ranch Burger w/cheese & everything) you will ever have. Period. My kids are fourth generation Ranch Burger eaters/lovers. Be sure to try a custom Pepsi. I always just added vanilla, until recently, I tried blackberry--yum! The kids are also happy if I just get them a bag of fries and a rootbeer freeze. We never go to Mickey D's, or any of the other drive thrus in town. We only show our hamburger love to Gillman's Frosties! (FYI--they will soon be accepting debit/credit!!)

First off if your in a rush don't be it's worth the wait. I had the Western Bacon Cheeseburger and it was amazing. Top 5 burger I've ate. Nice country feel eat outside or in your car. HUGE burgers bring your appetite.

Great old school drive in. Still has great burgers and root beer freezes I remember as a kid. It's rare to find old school drive ins with the old school flavor.

I wish that this place was even a shadow of its former self. In years past this place served the 2nd best burger that I had ever eaten. Now I would recommend that you just keep on driving right on by.

The mushroom burger was ok it's served with a fork and knife because the bottom bun disintegrates (not keen on that) The deep fried mushrooms I would not order again. The fries are alright. Waited over 1/2 for our order. Which is why overall I gave this 3 stars. I was hoping the food made up for the wait.... it didn't . Don't know if I'll come back....but don't let this review stop you from trying it at least once. I'm all for "Mom & Pop" places.

Best burgers for the best prices! The slider burgers are amazing. So many different choices on the menu for great items! Absolutely the best burgers in this whole area.

This place is great! I ended up here by chance after going to Snow White Drive In, which was once again closed. That seems to happen every time I go there, although its business hours say it's open. I especially love the seasoned curly fries, definitely much better than the ones from Jack in the Box. I did not try any of the burgers since I am vegetarian, but my burger enthusiast family loved them, they said it was the best burger they've had! I got the grilled cheese and it was delicious. The shakes are a definite 10/10, no matter what you get. Although it looks a little rough on the outside, which may make some people wary, service, people, and food is great. They've got me hooked, customer for life!

What a fun treat! This is truly a classic old fashioned drive thru. The owners were incredibly nice and gave us some extra fries, even though we showed up like 3 min before they closed. What a gem!
