What happened to Gina's??
I know I've been off island for 6, 7 years, but there have definitely been changes here. First off: Gina (if that lady who was always out front of here) is gone? And the other Korean man (son? Husband?)
Replaced by a very young man, young woman, and other people I do not recognize.
Second: I should've been suspicious when I walked in around 2 pm and it was dead.
I ordered a combo meat jun and chicken plate. $20. Oof. A few dollars more than Pearls, but it was close to home, so convenience fee.
The food literally took less than 5 minutes, and I already knew something was up. Also, you could tell upon opening the plate: the meat jun was so so dry and rubbery, made worse as it was pre-cut. Def sitting under a heat lamp as I ate one.
The bbq chicken, while better, was also dry, old.
The only saving grace was the banchan, probably the only fresh thing.
The combo also came with 2 random spring rolls which were so rubbery and cold that it buckled under when I bit jt and took multiple sawing attempts by my teeth to get through... Good thing I have a good set of teeth. Again, you could tell it was pre-cooked and just chilling under a lamp, waiting to find a home in someone, anyone's plate.
The place also had no place to sit and eat, as boxes filled the tables and lined the windows. I think Gina's was always like this but not as bad?
All in all: the girl working the front was nice enough, but For the amount you pay and for what you get, go somewhere else. I do hope they shape up soon like they were in their prime. They def have the notoriety as a good mom and pop place to stay open. A shame, really.
