It actually bothers me that I took this long to write this review. This place is amazing! They are incredible committee partners and they support the Asheville Music School.
Their events are varied. I've performed there for the "Plays Well With Others" Literary series, and my son's band has performed there for the Asheville Music School. But more than that, they make incredible ginger beer. I thought I was not a fan of ginger beer, but oh wow! These people are Masters at creating a beverage that is refreshingly light but with a really intense flavor profile (or maybe not so intense flavors depending on how you decide to order). From chocolate orange to their classics like hibiscus lavender or agave lime, these folks make beautiful ginger beer, and the ABV is lovely (it is not too heavy and it’s not too light) and you just have a really beautiful experience and… I know this sounds silly, and I never thought I would be this attracted to a ginger beer place, because normally I'm a big red wine fan, but I find myself not only frequenting this location, but bringing in growlers to take home.
Not only has this place entered my rotation for hanging out, (because of their events and all the things that we do for the community) but I will grab a growler and fill it up and then I’m super excited when I get home that I have a growler of Ginger’s revenge on a summer day, or one with wintry flavors on a winter day by the fire. When I pour this at a party, people are also very excited. I’m glad they’re bottling some of their bestselling flavors and that’s nice, but when you go to the actual site, you are treated to some really exquisite flavors (did I mention the chocolate orange?!) What fun!
As usual, I will give some pros and cons and some tips.
Pros:
1. They have two locations. This review is for the Riverside location, which is sort of in the River Arts District, but not quite, it’s on Riverside Drive and it is next to Revolve Studio, French Broad chocolates and so many other wonderful things in that area. Grab a Ginger's Revenge before a concert or art opening at Revolve
2. Family-friendly What a fun place to go to with the family. Does that sound counterintuitive? Going to a bar with your family? But it’s not. I’ve been going to Ginger's Revenge since my son was little. There are usually great food trucks outside and they also serve non alcoholic drinks and have a few board games on the tables plus some local snacks for purchase. Local chips anyone? So I have my ginger beer. He has his kombucha, and there are chips and local snacks; seriously it’s family-friendly.
Tips!
In the summer (and often in other seasons) they have slushies!!!
Grab a growler to go and enjoy at home. The local seasonal flavors sell out quickly!
