"As its name suggests, gin is the spirit of choice at this cocktail bar, which is inspired in every way by all things "across the pond." Mixologists and servers in button-down Oxford shirts prepare and deliver—what else?—gin and tonics in a setting that's all pinstripes and British kitsch. Live music rounds out the scene; check the bar's Facebook page for the current lineup."

"Mexico City is going through something of a gin renaissance and this airy, garden oasis of a bar in the heart of Colonia Roma seems to be at the epicenter of the trend. They craft various delicious botanical concoctions around the main ingredient—among them, the Velloncino de Oro, a rosemary infused gin cocktail, and the Mexican Pimms, made with fresh fruit and home-made ginger ale. It's been such a hit in the Roma that they've also just opened up in Polanco."

Really Nice Vibe and Great cocktails. Food is really tasty. Our waiter took time to understand each of our preferences for cocktails. Definitely worth a visit. English Menus were a plus.

Incredibly beautiful interior. The service was wonderful, ordered a mezcal margarita and he let us smell each option. The fried shrimp was great to snack on. Highly recommend!!

came here on a Wednesday night so it wasn't too crowded. atmosphere is great with a live DJ. not too loud so you can still hold conversation. Our server Abi was very kind and attentive - great service and drinks.

Tomas delivered wonderful service. The atmosphere is so fun and enjoyable. As an eternal Spanish student, Tomas was patient with me even though I messed up some grammar! Such a welcome place with an awesome vibe!

Just landed in Mexico. Friends gathered together here. It was fun for tourists like us to have drinks here. The skulls’ wall was impressive. Our waiter is the best! I saw he used his true passion to serve each table with authentic smile. The only thing I was not satisfied is I wish there was a dance pool. The music here is good for dancing. Established in 2014, Gin Gin has expanded to multiple locations, including Condesa, Cibeles, Polanco, and Álvaro Obregón. Gin Gin stands out as a premier destination in Mexico City for gin enthusiasts and those seeking a lively bar experience. While the majority of feedback is positive, experiences can vary, and it’s advisable to consider recent reviews or visit personally to form your own impression.

Yelp
Gin Gin was a great find. As you would expect by the name they have an extensive gin collection. All the drinks we had were perfectly crafted. The fruits and tonic were of great quality and accompanied the chosen gins very well. This is more of a costly place but one of those that you get what you pay for.. thought it was very well worth it. The croquettes were amazing. They would hold their own to any in Spain. If you like craft cocktails done on a higher level this is a stop for you.

Yelp
5 star! Great food, great ambiance, great service, great cocktails! A must dine in Mexico City!

Yelp
There's lots of locations nearby so make sure you pick the right one. This location had a sort of edm vibe and the waiter was super attentive!! He recommended drinks and also offered to make one to my linking. Didn't order food since we just came here for drinks. No waiting time to be seated! Loved this place. A little on the higher side as far as price

Yelp
If you like Gin cocktails, you cannot miss Gin Gin in la Roma. We went on a Friday night and it was not too full, we were able to get a table for five people right away. The server was very useful helping us find Gin cocktails to suit our taste and they did not disappoint. There was a DJ playing some old reggeaton and , although there was no oficial dance floor, we were all dancing and singing around our table. Music was loud, so it was more of a party/ dancing night than talking to friends. It is rather upscale and the prices on the higher end of the spectrum so make sure to be prepared to spend higher prices than your average Mexican bar..

Yelp
Very cute outdoor lit patio with heaters and great upscale atmosphere. I had the negroni (one of my favorite drinks!) but it was a bit underwhelming with the flavor and watery ice- for the price especially I was hoping for something more of a stand out. The inside was very loud and wild, while the outside was cozy and welcoming. There are so many places to get a great drink in CDMX, so I'm not sure this makes the top of my list here.

Yelp
Came for drinks but had more drinks and agua chile. The ambiance is hip and chill with a wall of skulls and red lights. The waiter is attentive and knowledgeable about the drinks and Mezcals. We had a great time here in Mexico City.

Yelp
Love me a delicious gin bar!! This place is a great spot for a drink before or after dinner! They have great cocktails!

Yelp
This is a hard review to write because so many things were good but so many things were not so good. We came in with the plan to eat dinner and have drinks but after a disappointing plate of aguachile we decided to just have two appetizers. The aguachile was lacking in flavor and the shrimp were completely raw. the potatoes on the other hand were perfect. The service here is impeccable and you're constantly checked on/helped. Can't say anything but great things about their staff. I do highly recommend getting cocktails here. They are very very good. As for pricing you can expect upscale prices and can pay card or cash. Oh also random PSA but at some point during dinner they dim all the lights and all you have is a candle. It's very intimate but also hard to see

Yelp
We ABSOLUTELY LOVED our cocktails here. Even my friend who doesn't love Gin liked hers. The vibe was good with a DJ playing good music and attentive servers. We didn't the any food here, but we had a good time for drinks.

Yelp
There are several locations throughout CDMX, but this location is in popular Roma Norte. A friend and I went here for a drink (we ended up with two drinks!) on a random Wednesday evening around 9 p.m. in July. The space is HUGE with two levels, a long bar, and even a DJ playing tunes. (It's a little louder than other bars, but it's part of the experience.) They have food, but focus on the massive drink menu. They feature gin drinks, but they sell a variety of cocktails made with other liquors. If you like sweeter drinks, the bramble was delicious. I had two. They bring a small, complimentary plate of olives to your table. As you drink, the server checks in one you and you're offered hookah at least once or twice.
google avatar

Yelp
The whole check was over $100 USD. The food was cold and not quality. They do hooka indoor hooka, not advertised. If you dont smoke, just imagine. The drinks were bland. The pizza was like a microwave pizza. Fried food was cold. They charged us $ 10 USD for the starting water. They also charged the IVA, sales tax, separate, aditional to the advertised price which is not typical in the city. You want to waste money come here.

Yelp
I really liked the tropical gin cocktail (though very pricey...at $13, it's the price of a cocktail at some good US cocktail places). However, the drink is really good and I would come back. The Moscow mule was not as outstanding and would not recommend getting your mule fix here. The bartenders make use of some great aromatics and create drinks with great visual presentation as well, for an overall elevated cocktail experience. Would be interested in trying some of their other drinks.

Yelp
This was my second time visiting this location. The first time around we had a great experience so decided to visit again on our trip to Mexico City. We were celebrating a bday, party of 5. Showed up and we were taken to our table right away. After our host finding out we were celebrating a bday, they said they'd bring us shots. Shortly after, they brought out shots, sparklers and small dessert. They proceeded to take our drink orders. Everyone in our party was satisfied with the drinks. All of us ordered different drinks and nothing negative to say. We ordered appetizers with our drinks and had to send them back because they were warm. As if they had been prepared a while ago and had been sitting there. Two people in our party got their food and the reset of us waiting about 20 mins AFTER to finally get ours. When it finally came out, it was incorrect. Had to send it back. Ended up just asking for our check as it had literally been over an hour by now. They brought out the check and come to find out that the celebratory shots were not on the house, nor were they house tequila. No sir. They gave us top shelf shit. Our bill for just the shots was over $200 Fine, not complaining about paying for them but I'm complaining about the fact that they didn't tell us that these were purchased shots as they made it seem like they were on the house as a celebratory shot for the birthday. The manager ended up discounting our food. Grateful for that gesture. Left feeling disappointed as we had high hopes for the night.

Yelp
i would not recommend this place to anyone. I went there hoping to have fun with my friends, the drinks were terrible. one was not edible and was too tart. it was called the gin gin they refused to take it off the table. I spoke to the manager who refused to take it off the bill. He was unapologetic and rude. do NOT go here
google avatar

Yelp
For cocktails only: We wanted to do a little bar hopping before dinner. Gin Gin was after Limonator. My friend wanted to stop by because she saw how "pretty" the drinks were. They were definitely pretty cocktails, very picturesque. But also twice the price of any other bar on that street, and the drinks while good didn't taste like they had any alcohol in it. Just full of sugar. Service started out good but towards the end when we told them we had to go for a dinner reservations and asked for the bill, they seem to ignore us. We asked 5 times and then my husband got frustrated and went to the bar and said give us our check or were walking out. We finally got the check. Not sure what that was about??

Yelp
It was a rainy Sunday night when five American tourists were trying to find a bar, any bar, that was open and had decent drinks for a late dinner. Enter Gin Gin - instantly recognizable for its pulsing music, gothic atmosphere, and sharply dressed ushers. We were quickly shown to a table outside and a waiter in white gestured to the small coat racks to hang our touristy things and the QR codes to access the English/Spanish menu online. It wasn't super crowded, but everyone else was a tourist or ex-pat looking to lounge. Prices certainly reflect this. Their specialty (as the name implies) is gin-based drinks, but perhaps a flag should have been raised when they were out of the gins used in many of their cocktails. Fine. We settled on a few of the cocktails they did have, which were tasty but not very gin-y. The food is mostly tapas/pintxos style bites. While the Papas Fritas and Tacos were good, the food was mostly lukewarm and pretty standard for your neighborhood bar. The kicker is that we all ended up getting food poisoning from here later as well, likely from the tuna in the Toradito de Atun. Hookah in many flavors is offered here, presented in the standard fashion. Everyone gets their own individually wrapped disposable mouthpiece to share in the COVID distribution (jk). The redeeming quality of Gin Gin is that the service is great, with all of the house staff being very friendly and accommodating. They quickly moved two tables together when we arrived to adapt to our larger group, and as soon as there was even a hint of rain we were quickly resettled inside socially distanced from other guests. The music is chest-pounding loud so not much more conversation was had once inside. I won't be returning, but can see this as a decent lounge if you stay away from the food and don't mind paying up.

Yelp
Slow service even on a Monday night where we were 1 of 5 people at the bar. Cool atmosphere with skulls everywhere. Spanish octopus - this was not cooked all the way. New York pizza - this was okay nothing special. Definitely a place to get drinks and smoke hookah. I would recommend getting food elsewhere.

Yelp
Came here for my friends bachelorette party and we had a such a great time. They gave us a table right in the middle of the bar and the DJ was playing really good music. Service was good and I loved the drinks I ordered. One of the highlights of our trip.
google avatar

Nicole T.

Yelp
Absolutely LOVED Gin Gin. My sister and I only came for drinks to end the night, and I'm glad we did! The service was fast and friendly, the drinks were delicious! We had no ideas they had hookah, and ordered one to share. The ambiance was very cool and dark and seemed like a great date spot. We really enjoyed the dj, which made the experience even better! Next time we are in CDMX, we will definitely be back! This was our favorite place hands down!
google avatar

Raji B.

Yelp
If you're a Gin aficionado, this is the spot for you in Mexico City. If you go, definitely have the cucumber martini. Seating can be slightly limited, so definitely get there early on, if at all possible. The music was fine, and service was a bit on the slower side but it's likely because of how busy it gets.
google avatar

Stefanie C.

Yelp
Oh dear. So, my partner actually enjoyed Gin Gin the first time he went and said CDMX has multiple locations because it's a sign the business is doing well. It's definitely not the vibe I expected. I was hoping for a gin bar, not a nightclub. We were seated in a side room and felt like the servers hovered around our table for conversation the whole time we were there. The music was too loud, and it was too dark to look at the extensive menu. I ordered some sort of martini, while my partner got a (non-alcoholic) ginger soda. The drinks themselves were subpar and certainly not strong, as I've found is the case throughout CDMX. Service was great but unimpressed with everything that actually makes Gin Gin a bar, including drinks and ambiance.
google avatar

Andrew M.

Yelp
This is a bar to go to for drinks and ambiance. We did not eat, but had many fabulous cocktails into the night as the incredible music kept pulsating and getting louder as the night progressed. The service was friendly and wonderful. Felt like I was in New York or London.
google avatar

Jazmine M.

Yelp
The ambiance is the best quality of this place. Drinks were wonderful. Music was great. Prices are way above the other local bars/ restaurants. With only two tables in the restaurant full on a Sunday evening. We kept waiting for our waiter to return so we could order another drink. Because we waited and waited we decided to get the check after our first drink. Also, while we waited for our change, another server came to our table with menus. Confused as she went to the wrong table. Additionally inside the restaurant children came up to us INSIDE trying to ask for money. For restaurant service and for them having security I wish that did not happen inside. I have no issues with it happeneing in local shops. But you are paying a high cost. I believe street vendors have better service. I hope this restaurant can improve because it's beautiful inside.

Andrea A.

Yelp
Placed a card on file to order drinks the tab was paid with a separate card attempted to charge my husband's card almost 50,000 pesos equivalent to 2,200 dollars.

Rick Z.

Yelp
Charged me $27770 for a $2700 diner for two, mistake? I don't think so, every time I come here, something happens, it's just hard to believe this was a "mistake"
google avatar

Regina L.

Yelp
It's never a good thing when restaurants usher you inside. We were very hungry, everything else was full, we had no service and couldn't read reviews, and we were shuffled in before we had a chance to find another place. They nicely offered us tequila off menu, which ended up being a way to charge us $20 USD per shot. It was by far the most expensive meal we had here, and the food was heavy and fried. Skip it.
google avatar

Levi G.

Yelp
All looks no substance. Drinks are overpriced (250-400MXN) and watered down. I think the music is turned up and the staff dressed all classy to draw in a certain upscale, gringo crowd that is easily fooled. Would've been three stars but our server yelled at me when I asked whether my and my partner's drinks could be paid for separate from our group. In my two weeks visiting Mexico, Gin Gin was the low point. Avoid.
google avatar

Edward W.

Yelp
We made a reservation for 9 ahead of time and were promptly seated upon arrival. The music here was incredibly loud and honestly a bit too much. The drinks were pretty weak and couldn't taste much alcohol. The reason for the 1 star was the brazen attempt to steal our friends credit card. One of the waiters took the credit card and bill from our table and never returned. When we asked them for the bill, they claimed that we never gave them the credit card in the first place. Thankfully they had cameras at the place otherwise the manager wouldn't have believed us. The cameras cover most angles and have infrared so it can see in the dark. Eventually they "found" the card again and comped our drinks but we wasted like 45 mins arguing with them. Overall terrible experience.
google avatar

Joseph T.

Yelp
We walked in without a reservation last Saturday evening (4/22/23) and were able to find seating at the bar. The bartenders were extremely friendly and engaging. We only ordered drinks, but they were made well and tasted great. Hope to go back if we are able to visit again and try their food.
google avatar

Frank C.

Yelp
Typical tourist trap! Avoided! I had two drinks and carpaccio! I paid 900 pesos! The charge me 259 pesos per drink and in the afternoon I was at La Cevichería! And paid 160 pesos for the same drink.
google avatar

Vivian H.

Yelp
Love this Art Deco x jungle safari theme. Hate that they have no smoking signs over but ashtrays on every table and smokers all around me. Most expensive cocktails we had in Mexico City and I think some of the worst.. my friend really didn't like her drink so just ordered a gimlet. The waiter said I dno what that is we don't make that. Ummm what?
google avatar

Michael E.

Yelp
Very cool place with very tasty cocktails and nice food. We came here in the afternoon on a weekday and it was pretty quiet.
google avatar

Brenda O.

Yelp
Came here because the Polanco location had also been impressive and we were in Roma Norte that afternoon. They make great gin cocktails and the sliders and pizza were great. Awesome ambience in CDMX.
google avatar

Andrew D.

Yelp
Gin Gin, well, hmmm it's a cool space, and the cocktails are pretty good. That said, in my one experience there, it's a bit of a shit-show at the Host Stand from around 10pm onward on the weekends. I was seated at a high top table through my reservation around 10. My friend was running late, so I was waiting and had ordered my first cocktail from the head bartender. Much of the staff did not know The Last Word Gin cocktail, but the head bartender of course did. What was odd, is one of the hosts about 5 minutes later, clearly "wired" asked me to move from my table, and had a couple behind him to which the table was reserved for. Explained, that no, this is not how this works since I had a reservation and clearly had made my presence to the last available table known when I was seated by the other host, given menus, and had a nice long talk with the bar staff. This took excessively long to explain. I'll blame it on my broken Spanglish for now, but it's not something I'd expect from a place like this. My friend arrived, on Latin time, 20 minutes later and by that point it was a zoo at the Host stand. It took 10 minutes to make it to the table, and they speak Spanish. We dined on Steak and their Fish of the day and it was good. The space and music were quite nice, but I could not help think that the place was a bit full of itself. If you are familiar with Stanton Social in NYC I'd say this place is an upscale scene like that, which is cool but a tad contrived. I don't know if I'd return, but it is a scene perhaps worth checking out for yourself.
google avatar

Alexander M.

Yelp
3 stars is pretty accurate for this establishment. Service is slow, overpriced drinks, charging for water without notification. I would skip it. On the positive side the place is nicely decorated, cool music, and the drinks are aesthetically pleasant.
google avatar

Shannon T.

Yelp
We had a great time in this club , and special drink name Gin Gin special was amazing , Also music and attention the customer service is number one
google avatar

April A.

Yelp
Fun bar! The drinks were really good, I couldn't read the menu. Note to self Learn Spanish, but it went great anyways just randomly selected drinks and was not disappointed lol, I call that drink roulette. I did also get the beef carpaccio which was really good as well, Alittle salty but I don't mind that. The place is really neat and off a good street with lots of other restaurants/bars.
google avatar

Ted T.

Yelp
I had one martini tonight with an American friend and they charged me $420.00 MX. Total hustle. Two nights earlier I was here with my Mexican friends and I was charged $210 for the same drink.
google avatar

Allie L.

Yelp
Trendy, hip, and a place to see and be seen. The music playing in the background had me bumpin' my head throughout our time there, and the extensive cocktail menu initially made my eyes open wide with excitement. The vibe was on point for a night out with friends, or an intimate date. The cocktails, however, were not impressive. I got the Little Bastard, which I thought tasted slightly diluted from the amount of ice left in the drink. I also tried my two friends' drinks and had the same impression. This was a bit surprising, considering the price of the drinks were on the expensive side (200 - 250 pesos). I also disliked how many people were smoking inside. I am personally particular about this and probably still would have checked it out had I known, but if you're really anti-smelling-like-smoke-for-the-rest-of-the-night, then beware. Check this place out if you want a unique and hip place to drink, look elsewhere or have a second place as followup if you're craving a strong cocktail.
google avatar

Jess S.

Yelp
We actually went to two of Gin Gins locations while in CDMX. Both had the absolute worst service. The drinks did not make up for it. We had a group of 9 and they were not that busy so we got seated right away. Took over 40 minutes to get some drinks and a few of us didn't get their first drink for an hour. Every time we asked they said "oh we're making it right now." Slow slow slow service. Then took 20 minutes to get the check. Do not waste your time here. Cute decor and some nice music but the service destroys the mood.
google avatar

Fay W.

Yelp
Waited 20 minutes for a menu. Waited another 30 minutes for our drinks. Server then spilled one of our drinks--no prob except he never rang in a new drink and we asked 3 different people to bring the drink that was spilled. Then had to argue to make sure at least the spilled drink was taken off the bill (no other concessions at all).
google avatar

Kyle T.

Yelp
Awful service. Awful drinks. Good decor. Tried to order cocktails. Were told no cocktails were available because "they ran out of lemon juice." Watched the bartenders make cocktails. They have a full bar. Ordered two whiskeys on ice and two tequila shots. Waited for 20 minutes. Should have left. Asked for the check. Waited for 30 minutes. Left money on table based on what drinks should cost per menu. Left. Got chased down the street by awful server and told we dined and dashed. Came back inside to pay what we owed. After 10 minutes of awkwardness, paid 100 extra pesos. Never ever again.

John R.

Yelp
I decided to pop in for a quick drink and what a pleasant surprise! This place is on point! The staff was super friendly, amazing drinks and the DJ was awesome! A nice classy/Casual spot! Stop by if you are in the area. You won't be disappointed! Oh..please be sure to say hi to Dulce and Cesar!
google avatar

Jeremy S.

Yelp
This was the worst service in Mexico City. We sat down and weren't offered menus for over 20 minutes. We finally ordered drinks and food. Drinks came, then a pizza came immediately after (great)...the server spilled a brand new drink when bringing the pizza, never cleaned up the mess and never brought a replacement drink. The pizza was cold and not good. We asked several times for a replacement drink and we're told "yes it's coming". Finally after 90 minutes and other tables being served the same drink we left. No apology and no discount offered. They even tried to charge for the drink they spilled and never served. Do not recommend.

Yelp
This review is for Gin Gin location in Calle Cordoba 107, Roma Norte 06700. Reserved a spot for New Years dinner set meal and drinks. Decided to go here because we ate here the day before. Very disappointed with the service - it took one hour to get our drinks. This was the precursor for the whole night. Extreme amount of waiting and there really was no excuse for that. The price was very high to New Years and understand that it will be crowded but the service was quite awful. The food itself wasn't that great. The salad was plain. The salmon was cold and lacked flavor. The dessert was something that tasted like it was brought at the grocery store. It was not a good experience and left to go elsewhere because the experience was lacking.
google avatar

Fawne S.

Yelp
Maybe the experience is normally good but our new years eve experience was terrible. The food ran out and everything was running late. The food was mediocre at best and over cooked. The manager was angry towards waitstaff and didn't care to make leave anything in good terms.
google avatar

Tauhid P.

Yelp
Visiting from LA thought this place was great! Amazing music, beautiful fun vibe and atmosphere. The service was amazing(including the cocktail making experience and little production) and the staff was very kind and knowledgeable about their spirits and good at helping you choose based upon your taste :) highly recommend for pre dinner drinks or post dinner drinks! Try the Pimms Cup !
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
Ok so the pros. 1. Cocktails are not super strong but they are very good. 2. The vibe is really fun with loud music and lots of people. Feels like a great place to start the night, even though I wouldn't want to spend the entire night here. 3. Really cool decor with skulls and moody lighting! Now the cons: 1. Cocktails could be stronger! 2. No one is standing up / dancing. Everyone is seated and it feels a little stiff / contrived.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and get drinks here! We came due to a recommendation of a friend from Mexico City and it was the best rec ever! This place serves amazing drinks, the service is spot on and the ambiance is so beautiful! We fell in love with the Bloddy Ginny cocktail and came by two days after for round 2! But really whatever we tried, it didn't disappoint!!
