A Truly Unforgettable Anniversary Celebration at Gino's Surf! We recently celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary at Gino's Surf, and I can’t say enough great things about our experience. The outside has a beautiful view of Lake St. Clair. From start to finish, the staff went above and beyond to make our special day truly memorable. They were incredibly accommodating and helped us every step of the way with the setup—especially with the gazebo, which looked absolutely beautiful. Their team made sure everything ran smoothly, and their support gave us the freedom to enjoy the day without stress. A huge shoutout to Jessica, the event coordinator, who is hands down the best I’ve ever worked with. Her attention to detail, professionalism, and genuine kindness made planning effortless and enjoyable. The buffet was outstanding—not only was the presentation top-notch, but the food was absolutely delicious. Our guests are still talking about it! The servers were friendly, attentive, and really helped create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. If you’re looking for the perfect waterfront venue for a wedding, anniversary, or any special event, I would 100% recommend Gino's Surf. They truly made our 20th anniversary unforgettable.

We had a party of 4 on a Friday at 5:00pm, so the restaurant was not yet filling up with the Friday night crowd. We were seated promptly with a nice view of the lake. It took a while to get drinks and appetizer but they came eventually. 3 of us ordered the Lake Perch with the 4th ordering the Cobb Salad. It took a while to be served the main course and from there the dining experience went down hill. One of the perch platters appeared undercooked and had to be sent back. The other two kept our plates. My first bite of the perch left me wondering if it was pre-cooked and simply warmed or if it was just sitting too long before being served. The string beans were rather strewn across the plates and they, along with the mashed potatoes were all warm, not hot. It took a long time for the plate that was sent back to the kitchen to return to the table and we had to inquire after its status, leaving the diner sitting there a while to watch us eat. The wait staff seemed mostly disinterested in us, giving the impression that they saw their jobs as simply dropping off food when it was required of them. When the bill came it was a significant amount, but there was no pleasantries such as "I hope you enjoyed your meal". Instead, they hand you the electironic bill and wait and watch for you to fill-in the tip amount. The options were 20%, 25%, or 30%. I filled in 20% but honestly, would have done 15%. When I handed the device back, again, there was no "Thank you so much", "I hope you enjoyed your dinner", "Please come back", etc. Well, we won't be coming back. It was a large bill, the food was mediocre, and the service was mostly inattentive and disinterested. It's a pity, because the facility and the venue itself are beautiful. Finally, we left by 7:00pm which was a good thing because the band started playing very loud music which would prevent any hope of carrying on a pleasant conversation with your dining partners.

Sad to do this, but it has to be done. I will be surprised if this joint lasts longer than couple seasons if they don’t make any changes to better their service and quality of food! My chicken was a “Subway” grade chicken breast with fake grilled marks. Salad was tiny . Wait for food was over an hour. I had to grab my own drink because it took our server 20 minutes to completely ignore us, and even when i brought my own drink, she still never brought the one i originally ordered. Food is way overpriced. My salad was $25 with the added 2.98oz of fake meat chicken. Not going back until I hear better experiences.

Great food, the waitress was super friendly and asked if we needed anything. The manager was very nice and explained to us why we could not use the fire pit. Staff was very nice and we didn't wait long. My sister and I ordered the brussel sprouts, shrimp and pizza. The food was excellent and I will definitely come back again. Thanks for showing us there are places that are super friendly and your staff actually want to be there. Thanks again.

The atmosphere is the reason we wanted to stop in here. The service was not good from the beginning. After our table was ready we were told they would bring us silverware, but we sat with our salad in our face still waiting for utensils. The lemons on the salad were mushy and old. We had to ask about our calamari, because it was taking a long time. We think they need to learn what flash fried is because it was over cooked and not garnished well. Our main dish was the seafood linguini, which the 2 of us were sharing… the menu described it as being in white clam sauce, but when it arrived it was in a soup not white or creamy. The food didn’t have a great taste to it and the shrimp tails were not removed. Our server Alexa didn’t smile nor was very friendly. We did give her a good tip anyway but please know you need to work harder for your tips. The manager Tony did comp our bill 50% and was very apologetic due to several people calling in on a Saturday. Thank you Tony for the hospitality!! Pictured is our appetizer, and our main course before and after. Needless to say, we were not able to eat all of our food because it just didn’t taste well.

Went to Gino’s Surf for a birthday lunch/brunch. I was hesitant because of some of the reviews but wanted water view not canal. Our experience was amazing! We were seated quickly on the patio and our waitress Alana was great throughout the meal, our food and drinks came quickly and all 4 meals were delicious. Had the homemade corn beef hash, husband had potato latke Benedict which he said was amazing, Italian panini with crispy fries and a fried chicken sandwich everyone loved their meals, Bloody Mary needed a bit more kick but was decent, Cole slaw was a bit bland but all 4 of us loved our meals and had a great time, view is wonderful .

Our first time, Friendly staff our waitress was excellent had a couple things come out wrong and she was on top of it got it corrected and the manager checked on us as well, absolutely no complaints with the staff! The food was good, my rib eye was more med well, but was still good, 20 oz so had left overs for lunch, lol. The restaurant was clean, has a bar area, and a eating area, wanted a window view but other parties were reserved, you can make reservations, they have a patio area, was too cold the day we went so we will be back to try the patio and pizza. Menu has a variety to select from.

As a local, I was so excited to see Gino’s open up again last year! The ambience is fun with their live music and DJ’s and they have plenty of outside seating that gives you beautiful lake views! I have been many times for the pizza which is delicious and they make the dough in-house. The Bianca Pizza and the veggie pizza are my favorite!

This place really has a lot going for it, and I want to see it succeed. The space is beautiful--modern, clean, and definitely gives off that "new and fresh" vibe. The food was good. A little pricey, but tasty. I had something off the main menu and enjoyed it, and everyone else at our table got pizza and couldn't stop talking about how good it was. I'd honestly go back just to try it for myself next time. Now, the service... that's where things fell flat. When we walked in, every table already had full glasses of water sitting out. I didn't love that. Personally, I'd rather have my drink poured at the table. It just feels more sanitary and intentional. We had a reservation for 10 people, and they sat us at two square tables pushed together, which basically meant the people at the corners had no space to eat. When we asked if we could have another table added, they said they were too busy and might not be able to do it. Honestly, if we reserved for 10, it shouldn't feel like we're being crammed in. To their credit, they did end up accommodating us, and our server was nice and friendly once we were settled in. Like I said, this place has tons of potential. The location, the food, the atmosphere--it's all there. I'm really hoping my next visit is a 5-star experience, because I'll definitely give it another shot. Just hoping for a smoother, more thoughtful service experience next time.

Took my wife and mother for an early mothers day dinner today approx. 4:30 this afternoon, dining room was completly empty, bar 1/2 full, less tha 5 tables outside, our table we were sat at was never clared , had to ask to get it wiped down, drink were served on a dirty table, our server had a crappy attitude came back asked are you ready to order ? never given menus, food runner brings out food NO silverware, asked for water she brought only 1 glass, ordered medium rare tenderlion was well done as in cooked shoe leather.... do you think were coming Back...... crappy food , Shi__ty service. Good luck !

Heard this place opened up this summer and had the chance to finally check it out! Was greeted with friendly faces had a beautiful bar to hangout at if you'd like. We chose to hangout on the patio where it looks like they have plenty of space and even area for live music. Service was great during lunch and everything the came out tasted great. This is going to be to be a new favorite spot nearby!

Went here to meet up with some new friends. Surprised they had a good amount of vegetarian options. Could have a bit more for us but the vibe here was good. Great patio and nice music playing inside. The service bit slow and took a moment for the food. Would not mind retuning her for a few drinks and nice view of the water.

Great, new stylish restaurant awesome location, great view of the water. Everything went well. Food was really good but on the expensive side. The biggest thing they have ads running on a few TVs with specials and pictures of food and drinks and there's one that says home team game day specials so we're there for the third game of the Tigers wildcard game but of course the game day specials weren't for baseball just for football which I thought was BS if you're advertising specials for the home team then my thinking is it should be football baseball hockey. Whatever home team is playing. but of course they're too cheap to do that. Got to nickel and dime you for everything they can get

This place has been a part of my childhood, so when I saw it reopened, I had to go back. My husband and I had an amazing lunch, Chicken and Spinach Gratin was cheesy and fresh, the New England Clam Chowder was the best I've ever had, and the Gino's Burger was huge and made from prime rib and brisket. The Fish and Chips were crispy and fresh, finally, a decent version! The lakeside view was as beautiful as I remembered. Great service

Well, good view outside for sure. Vast outdoor area that can accommodate large private parties. Bar outside. Staff great. Ladies were young and cheerful and helpful. Food good. Nachos looked amazing. Filet Mignon hit the spot. Crème Brulee was delicious.

I love coming to this place as a bar. Great ambiance, I love that it's on the water and they have so much outdoor seating. The security guy was pretty rude though when I came for an event. It is super underwhelming as a restaurant. The food is way too expensive and it's not very good. The chicken spinach dip or whatever was super watery. The calamari tasted like something they just took out of the freezer. The salads were dry and limp. The best thing was probably the pizza. The bartender also messed up our drinks and didn't know how to make a mojito. I want this place to succeed because I'm so happy they reopened it, but they need to fix some things.

8/25 Soft opening this weekend, grand opening on Sept. 20th. They're still working out the bugs in service as expected with any new restaurant with a soft opening. Very nice renovation, beautiful large patio with plenty of seating overlooking the lake. Comfortable patio couches lining the lake front edge of patio and an outdoor bar on the side. Indoor is spacious with again plenty of high top, standard tables, booths, large wrap around bar in the center. TV's lined up next to each other on the top of the walls, great for sports watching crowds. This is a very nice place for drinks and food with a beautiful view.

If I could leave a negative review I would. My family and I wanted to get a bite to eat after we got back from a long trip back from up north. It was the only place that was open and it looked okay. We go in and the rude "security" guard didn't even look at us, and demanded for our IDs. I had 2 children with me and I was confused. I thought this was a restaurant, not a club. I even called in advanced to see if the kitchen was open. Waste of time. And to the "security guard" at the door, you aren't important. You work at a restaurant. Thanks.

Been wanting to try this place as it renovated and on the water. I stopped in for some drinks and food on a Saturday afternoon. It has a nice bar area and is quite big inside, has an outstanding patio on lake with an outdoor bar. Summer will be nice there on that patio. They also have bands in and on this day they had Glen Brooke singing! My food was amazing and worth the cost as it was a little pricy. They had some good beers on tap as well, I had Alaskan amber which I love. It was a good time and I will come back. The servers were very good as well very personable.

We made a reservation for a table for 10- for my birthday on Saturday for a 7pm dinner party. The service was slow, table never got cleared, we constantly had to ask for refills on sodas , or drinks. When it's a Saturday night and you have a table full of people that have every intention to drink , dance and have a good time- you'll think the service would be on their game. Food was mediocre- typical bar food and a bit Over priced. It's a beautiful bar- patio /outside area could be such a beautiful highlight to a great summer night - just hopeful the service gets better.

Beautiful place to eat ... if the food were much better. Don't know who is in the kitchen but Alfredo Sauce is not freaking red. Good God. This is Cooking 101.

Stopped by there a few days ago. Used to go there years ago. It was around 4:19pm and they opened at 4. Sat at the bar. Waited about 10 minutes to get a menu. While we were looking we filled out keno slips but was told the don't have any money yet?? Waited another 10 minutes for her to come back. We just left.

I heard this place is awful! My Sister went on 7/15/25. They wanted to treat their guests from Sweden a really nice time to a water front establishment. They made reservations for a water view table. They were seated in a hot corner with very little visibility. They delivered their martini drinks in plastic glasses! Waited 45 minutes for appetizers. Food was not good . What an embarrassing nightmare! P.S.The tables with the view of water that they said were reserved were never seated the entire time they were there!

We really wanted to give Gino's a chance. They put a lot of money into redesigning the place. But that's where it ended. Our service was poor, and the food runners were clueless. The clam chowder was sandy; they did not rinse the clams well. Then, my husband received his meal first and the food server was going to look into our other 3 meals but never returned. The waitress came over and wanted to know how everything was, but we still had not received our meals. When we finally did, my husband was finished eating. The food was just ok, especially for the price. It's expensive and disappointing. Every time we asked for something we either never received it - crackers, serving spoon - or it came way late - bread basket with our late meals. The bread basket was terrible. There's no QC of what is coming out of the kitchen. The manager took 20% off our bill, but that's not going to change things. I'm not looking for that. Train the staff better and demand more from the kitchen.

Real slow. I wouldn't come back again. My seafood pasta dinner was real bland. Hair in it too. More bar type place. Definitely not an upscale dining place

We just left Geno's. We were warm so we sat at the bar inside. Decently busy for a holiday and everything was excellent. Live music outside. Our main bartender was a guy, I believe his name was joe. Everyone was really nice and the manager tony checked on us twice. We will be back.

Good service, bar food, beautiful view, dirty place. Tables not cleaned, dust on the menus, staff not working, dancing in the halls.

I never post reviews, but honestly such a bad experience today (Father's Day). Had reservations at 1 pm and seated right away. Waitress was fine. Ordered drinks and food within 20 minutes of arriving. Didn't get our appetizers for at least 1 hour. Waited 2 full hours for our meals. asked for the manager who RELUCTANTLY came to our table and clearly did not want to hear our complaints. Finally got our food. Burger and sandwich were ok. Three $18-$20 salads that were served were PATHETIC. Literally missing main ingredients. They ended up comping our food bill but had to pay the inflated bar bill which was twice as much as normal because we waited so long for the food. Ruined Father's Day honestly. Never go here on a holiday. they are clearly not prepared for a large crowd.

We popped in Gino's Surf on Valentine's Day with no reservation. Luckily they had a table available. We started with an Old Fashioned and a Cranberry Mule. Both drinks were tasty. We ordered chicken and spinach gratin for an appetizer. It was very creamy and cheesy with chicken and spinach. Delicious! Both of us ordered the salmon which had a Cajun sugar seasoning and came with garlic mashed potato's, green beans and sweet carrots. It was very tasty! The restaurant was lively and had a singer playing the guitar. The bar is very big with plenty of seating and they have tv's all around the perimeter if you want to watch the game. They also have a large outdoor patio for summer time so we will definitely be back!

The 3 stars is for ambiance outside. The food was ok but nothing good. I wouldn't make this a destination for a delicious meal. Service was also ok but nothing good. Sometimes the servers seemed annoyed with requests. It's a good place to stop by for a drink with friends with a lakeview.

Just okay. They couldn't figure out how to put on the nfl games. The food was above average but not worth the cost. The service was okay, but we wanted more. Overall, I would give them another try, but they really need to step up. Great decor and set up. I see potential.

Totally over priced took almost two hours to get food come on up charge 4 bucks for a tall beer total for one person was 70 bucks it's a classless place wearing high q attire for cannabis food was not good at all

Good experience here but service seems to still be working out the kinks. One side of our table kept on getting refills while the other side wasn't even asked if they wanted any. Food was good and came out promptly. There were three tuna tacos and they were good but I did have to ask for salsa. While dining we saw a freighter so this will for sure be a hot spot just for the view.

Great location, beautiful view of the water. Customer service lacks. I've been there twice in the last month and the waitstaff is inadequate. Didn't have a reservation, I asked if we could sit on the couch outside, the hostess wasn't sure. Had to ask someone. They told us yes, but there is no drink service. You have to go to the bar to get your drinks. Silly, there are tables every where. They could have earned a nice tip, they were next to us. My friend ordered a hamburger, $21 no fries just potato chips. He had to go inside twice to ask for his burger. Band was great, but they sure need some instruction on customer service. Previously ate fish & chips, it was over cooked. We were told last night that the kitchen was slammed. Really? Maybe they need better management. 8.21.25

my husband and I recently went there on a Thursday, and we had a very pleasant experience. The weight staff was wonderful, even though there was many waitresses in training, they were super sweet and cordial. Our meal was delicious. drinks were made perfect. The weight staff was wonderful. We can't wait to try another item on the menu. We had fish and chips, and it was delicious. The french fries were to die for. We will be back.and the view on a beautiful day makes it that much better

Was on the Patio trying to order a drink sitting on the couches and the waiter completely ignored our group when I approached him he said I was sitting in a non serve section. WHAT. You have to be at a table to be served. He wasn't very pleasant found out he was the bartender. Friday night there were no tables to sit at. Finally he got us a drink very rude never been treated like this anywhere. Will never be back.

Had a large group which we had arranged a month prior with manager. They took a 100$ deposit. Service for some of the tables was fine. The food we were allowed to order from the pre arranged menu was fine. The problem was they didn't apply the deposit to the bill. We were never told it was non refundable. So we brought 35 people and didn't really have a great experience and they kept our 100$ it was pretty slow and it looked as if we could have just walked in.

Great new "old" addition to the area! Loved the new look, menu and vibe!!! Band was great...you could hear them and still talk!!!Hostesses were adorable and accommodating! Server, Connor, was good...a bit hyper...but sweet! We had apps...Brussels, tenderloin tips and mussels. All good...mussels were meh, a bit cold and maybe need some more oomph, garlic, cream, wine? No bread served for broth means your broth isn't good enough to make us want to drink it! Zip sauce was wonderful! Brussels were perfection and great portion. Soooo. My only issue is waaaaay too much action at hostess stand...eating, socializing, etc. when they could be doing more. We sat with empty plates for too long...while were walked past several times. We would've ordered more, but server never came back. Marianna walked by, asked me how everything was, I said ok. She immediately sat down and said, what's up? She took our plates and apologized. Saw her talk to our server. Assumed she was management, found out she was another server!! Wow. That is management behavior!!! Saved the night. Gave her tip and thanked her. We will be back because of her! And the food

Spectacular views from every table and the bar! Nice beer selection. Club keno TVs are all around.

Today was my first time at Gino's Surf . we loved the food, the service and the Ambiance. Very friendly and welcoming staff

Having grown up in HT I love they are reopening, the updates, and excitement around it. I have seen a steady flow of people there everyday. The space- they have a large indoor and outdoor space, and I feel they space the tables out well, so you don't feel you're eating with neighboring tables that may be around you. Staff-staff was polite and attentive without being overly intrusive, but still have some work to do anything bar related. My initial vibe while they are still training, and becoming familiar with what they offer was to stick to the basics. My initial question about wine, exposed my server had no clue when I was asking about a cab sav, I was asking about red wine, not white. I am sure this will change with more training, and a menu offering of wines by the glass. Food- I ordered a small pizza tasted pretty good, I would get it again but opt for different toppings. Additionally, our table ordered fish and chips. Definitely cut fresh fries, maybe slightly over cooked but I like them crispy, they were on the smaller side, but there was plenty of them. I didn't try the fish, but was told it needed some more seasoning in the batter otherwise good. I would say the pricing was fair $53 before tip, sm pizza, fish and chips, tall beer, and rum and coke. The fish came with soup or salad, and a side(which was the fries), but you have to tell them that's what you want despite the menu stating it's fish and chips. It fish with the option of chips. Not a big deal, but I can see that annoying some people if they don't realize it. Portions were very generous. I will be back and look forward to their continued growth.

Our group had a reservation, we got there about 5-10 minutes early, and 30 minutes after the reservation, we left without trying the food at all. The ambiance looks ok but that's it.

We went here at 3:30 on a Saturday afternoon. The atmosphere seemed to be fun and inviting. We ordered a drink before our food and those were simply just ok. Our waitress sucked for sure. She had zero personality and zero interest in waiting on us. Though the food runners were fabulous. Our food was good. The fried chicken sandwich was great but the Ginos cheeseburger was mediocre at best. We waited sooooo long for the waitress to come back that our next drinks came from the outside bar. My husband and I both used the outside restrooms and they were disgusting. The inside restrooms were for sure a lot cleaner. We may try to go back for live music on a weekend but probably will not be back for dinner.

First of all, the wine I was served I buy at Meijer all the time. I ended up paying more for one glass than an entire bottle. Quality wine maybe but this? Second, the gratuity was added because of a large group, no problem. But 25%???!!!!!! Seriously? Then they charged sales tax, on the grossly inflated gratuity. THEN... they added an ADDITIONAL TIP of $6 after we left, to my friend's charge that she didn't give. That's shady AF. I have no interest in going back.

Was hoping for a great experience. This place has a lot of potential but it's not there yet! We arrived early for 4pm res for 6. Sat at the bar. Huge bar, only maybe 4 people there, one bartender. Took 10 minutes to be acknowledged, bartender overworked due to needing to fill orders from outside tables being served. All the while, many servers mingling at hostess stand. Party arrived at 4 and we were seated. Took another 10 minutes to be acknowledged at our table. Needed to finally ask for a server. Meals were not impressive. My whitefish was full of bones and could not eat it. Pasta dishes were too spicy with no note of spice in the description. Fries were way overdone/burnt. I was hoping this place would be great and it wasn't. Probably will not return or recommend.

i saw their bad 2.8 rating before i went there, should've avoided. horrible experience, bad food (burned fries, sprouts, chewy steak bites) bad service, kids working at valet are disrespectful, unprofessional and incompetent, waited for 20 minutes to get my vehicle, dirty filthy bathrooms and no one cares

Views are spectacular, the food is really good. Best fish and chips there. Also try the Brussels and the flatbreads. Nice interior

Everything was terrible from beginning to end. Hostesses rude rude rude. Waitstaff and mgmt could not have cared about any of our complaints. Never saw one of the waitstaff smile or engage with the customer. Just extremely bad customer service. Slow drinks and even slower food being brought out. Got up and just walked out. Would reconsider that banquet hall with this kind of service

I don't even know where to begin with this review. We get there around 5:30, told it will be about an hour to get an outdoor table. We're fine with that, get a drink and wait. 6:45 rolls around, we go to check on our table and we're told it'll be a while longer, and they wouldn't give a time. Another hour goes by, it's 7:30 at this point. We finally go back to the hostess and say forget the outdoor table, we'll just sit inside. At this point we feel just lead on for having to wait forever and it seems like we were intentionally not told the time for when we asked. We're finally sat, and the service was extremely slow. After we order, 45 minutes go by without a visit from our waitress, waters are empty, starter salads never came. We're ready to just leave at this point, only when we are getting up ready to leave since we're going on 3 hours of being at this place, does our waitress notice us to ask why we're leaving. She assures us our food is just being plated, 15 minutes go by for "plating" and we get our food. At this point our party of 6 is just seated in silence because we are so done with this dinner from hell. I'd wait 3 hours for a life changing meal, not reheated frozen food. My boyfriend's mashed potatoes are clumpy and hard like they were clearly reheated from frozen. Like he put is fork in it and the whole side of mashed potatoes came off the plate. As soon as we get the chance after we're done eating, we asked for the check, just ready to get the hell out of here. Took 15-20 minutes to get the check. Although our waitress was not paying attention to us, I almost can't even blame her because the staff seems to be stretched thin and this place does not have the service to handle an above average crowd. The best part of my experience here finally happened, leaving, only for the security guard to insist we have to come back and try it again on a slower night. A couple walking out beside us, we don't know them, laughed and said this was the worst service and experience they've ever had. So we weren't the only ones. Never going back. Gino you pissed me tf off. Next punishment I have to give a friend for losing a bet is to come here on a Saturday night.

Nice bar, atmosphere- only end has view of lake. Had good burgers, but thick "fries" were extra & more like sloppy thin wedges. Asparagus tasted odd. We were there at 9 midweek. All 50 (?) tv's- tuned to sports. Since it was late & only 5-6 customers, we asked to have just the one above us at the bar tuned to something else, funny videos, or something visual. Manager said, "No - Only sports."

Service, food, and drinks are spot on. FYI, Sit towards the back/entrance if you want to converse with your party. Will definitely be back.

Four of us had dinner at Gino's on Friday and we had a very good experience. Our waitress, Paris, was perfect... prompt, friendly, and helpful. Based on her recommendations, we ordered fish and chips and the white fish which we really enjoyed. A drink on the patio afterward was a perfect way to end the evening!
