Google
I have only good things to say about this spot — DELICIOUS food, super friendly staff, great drinks, and the best atmosphere (especially for a date night). I will definitely be coming back soon. We came here to celebrate my birthday and they made me feel so special. Added to my list of favorite Austin spots!!!

Sara H.

Google
the food here is so amazing!! we’re from out of town and we came here twice in four days because it’s just that good. their spaghetti alla scampi is the best dish in my opinion, the sauce is so rich and flavorful. it was slightly different each time i had it, which i don’t even mind because you can tell it’s being made from scratch that way and not just out of a tub from sysco. the atmosphere is very nice too. small and fancy but not so fancy that you feel uncomfortable, it’s very warm and inviting. you may feel a bit awkward at times because it is quite a small place so sometimes you’re close to other tables but the food makes you not care anymore! the servers are also very sweet and there’s a man that i think is a manager or owner he’s nice as well. overall i absolutely love this place and i’ll be coming to eat everytime im in austin!!

Shaina R.

Google
We really enjoyed this delicious little Italian place! We had the Vitello Parmigiano and Gnocchi di Pesce and both were amazing. The atmosphere was cute and cozy and we had the most friendly, helpful server (wish I could remember her name). We did not have a reservation but were able to be seated pretty quickly for a Friday night. I’d love to go back!

Jose O.

Google
If I could describe it with one or 2 words it would be intimate and authentic. The food is delicious, and the portions are generous. The atmosphere and environment is great, low lighting and perfect for a date. The service is great and I love how Dennis is very attentive and always holds great conversation. I will be coming here very often as I found the closest and most authentic Italian food. They live up to the name specially after new management. My favorite plate so far is the chicken piccata! MUST TRY! Also, if you get to sit at the bar, Cindy makes the best drinks and she’ll take care of you.

Google
Nice quiet place the food was very good. Italian done well. Service could be improved a lot considering the place was not busy.

Katrina B.

Google
After traveling all day we stumbled upon this gem. We were hungry for real food, not drive thru. It was 15 minutes until it closed and the staff welcomed us warmly. The feeling we got when we opened the door was like walking into mom’s house when dinner was ready. The food was flavorful and exactly what we were looking for. This restaurant was very clean and elegantly decorated. Thank you to the staff for making our long day end peacefully and filling our bellies!! We will come back when we are in the neighborhood again.

Matthew W.

Google
If you live in Mueller/Windsor park this is the perfect date night spot if you’re still looking to treat your lady to somewhere nice but not having to drive the distance to downtown. Ive driven past the storefront a million times before and I wish I went sooner. The food was amazing, genuinely the best Italian food Ive had.

PartiesByMarie

Google
Food, service, & atmosphere all get 5 stars!! I got one of the specials of the day (braised beef ravioli) w the best Alfredo sauce I’ve ever had. Drinks were fantastic too!

Katelyn A.

Yelp
A very fun and inviting atmosphere that is complemented by the service and food. We came for a quick and easy dinner and received exactly that!

Yelp
There's nothing not amazing about this place. The vibes - the food - the service. All of it is divine. Great place for a date night. If I can give you any advice - it would be to get the Chicken Alfredo. LITERALLY the BEST Chicken Alfredo in the world. You think, "how good can Chicken Alfredo really be?" Well, if you give this place a try, you'll find out. SO GOOD. P.S. - I cannot tell you how many brownie points I got with my wife for bringing her here. Men... I promise you will not regret picking this place for your next date.

Yelp
I hope no one else discovers this place. One a Friday night, walked in at 7:30 looking for a nice quiet place to connect with my husband after a long week. We got seated immediately and had a wonderful evening. I'm so weary of the Austin "must have a reservation" vibe to go anywhere on the weekends. The "it" places are noisy and overpriced. It's so refreshing to go to Gino's. Is it a throwback to a forgotten time? Absolutely. Am I there to be seen? Nope. Is it kinda weird with The Mary Tyler Moore show playing along side women's soccer at the bar? Yep. All in all, a hidden gem that I hope no one else discovers.

Yelp
Nice place, really nice people. Well made cocktails. Nice wine selection. Generous apps. That bread is really all you need. Got the special - mushroom ravioli and sausage in Alfredo sauce. Pretty tasty. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals.

Yelp
We came in at 6 PM on a Saturday night and there was plenty of seating still available. There was plenty of parking available in the parking lot when we went. The interior is decorated as an old school Italian family run restaurant. Our server was very friendly and gave us great wine recommendations and even brought us some tasters. She came out with complementary garlic bread. One was nicely toasted, but the other was not toasted. I ordered ravioli, which was delicious, but had too much cheese on top for my liking. Their portion sizes are large, and I left feeling full.
google avatar

Joanna H.

Yelp
If I could give 6 stars to Gino's I would. We were staying at The Residence Inn of University Area, where we've stayed a few times, however we just found this fabulous wine bar/restaurant that is 2 doors down on the backside. We arrived 30 minutes before they were set to close with the intention to have a quick glass of wine. Walked in to a quaint environment that will take you to New York neighborhood restaurant. The aroma of Italian food made me almost feel hungry though we just stuffed ourselves at dinner right before. They have a nice selection of wines by the glass or bottle and various cocktails. The bartender was wonderful! We ended up getting the lemon cake for dessert and Wowzer, it was fantastic! I will be coming back every Austin visit!

Yelp
If you are looking for traditional Italian food then look no further. This place is a hidden gem in my book now! I enjoy Italian food and I have found that many places don't deliver on some of the more basic items this jersey boy grew up on. Austin I love you but it takes me back to have Veal Parm or a nice Spaghetti and Meatballs or Lasagne dish. This isn't a chain either like Boca do Beppo or Olive Garden. When I sat to eat here I saw one of the owners working. The place is quaint yet there were enough tables when I ate here although to be fair it was Super Bowl day so it was a bit slow. The drinks are great, the bread is great, the mains were amazing, and of course the wine was delicious. You have to try this place and it will be on my rotation from now on. The one item to look for though is parking - it has a weird one way are so you may find yourself circling to park and walking up. Enjoy!

Rachel D.

Yelp
Eggplant parmigiana went to the top of my husband list of the best. The filet mignon and ravioli special was so good. We sampled two Montepulcianos. Both good.
google avatar

Alba O.

Yelp
I enjoyed my dining experience at Gino's. The food was cooked well. Pasta was al dente and the sauces were delicious. I got the seafood linguine and gnocchi. The gnocchi dish is a cheese lovers dream. I will definitely go again.
google avatar

Yelp
This was my second time reserving a table at Gino's for a friends birthday. We were so impressed last year that we agreed to celebrate all her birthdays here. I had the pleasure of bringing my boyfriend this time and another mutual friend of the birthday girl. I spoke about the escargot for a year and finally had it for the second time tonight- delicious!! We tried the fried ravioli this time and it was great. The lasagna is my go to and it did not disappoint. I'm laying in bed with a good baby now. Definitely worth checking out. Our waitresses name was Taylor and she was absolutely lovely- very patient, kind and friendly.

Mo H.

Yelp
The food was so good and flavorful. Very nice family owned restaurant with great service. I'd highly highly recommend and will come again. Ps the bread is so good it's dangerous..
google avatar

Bre H.

Yelp
Stumbled across this place on a Saturday night needing dinner, we drove up south austin and it was well worth it. It was super intimate, felt like I was back in a small Venice, Italy restaurant without a huge crowd, 1:1 service, and intimate atmosphere. Staff was so helpful and fast even thought they are short staffed, the food was incredible. The table bread is crack and the best I've ever had anywhere, this is in the top 3 of my favorite Italian places in ATX and I've been searching for that for 8 years... Anyone who says it isn't good... doesn't get it. It truly is a hidden gem you need to seek out, because without a little searching I didn't even know it didn't exist but I'm glad it does.
google avatar

Rodolfo G.

Yelp
It is a pretty good restaurant. Although the place is nothing special. The service was good and the food was better than expected. Good pasta with handmade sauces. The Carbonara and Bolognese were very good.
google avatar

Virginia B.

Yelp
Veal was tough and not tasty Pork chop could not be cut so tough & hard. Overcooked. Spaghetti not seasoned. Meals totally disappointing. Service was very pleasant and helpful. Not recommended.
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
Good food, great service, very nice atmosphere. The veal picata was very good and their wine selection is good.

Yelp
If you were thinking about coming here pls reconsider & save your time and money! Sooooo disappointing... from the atmosphere to the food this place makes Olive Garden look like a five star restaurant. We left after tasting the apps and I couldn't even finish the leftovers when I got home it was genuinely disgusting (and I will eat almost anything, im like a garbage disposal). Almost funny how bad it was. 1 star because server was nice, bread & mozzarella sticks were ok. To say Mediocre would an understatement. Edit: In response to the reply it was the calamari. Everything about it was downright terrible. Furthermore "ok" wasn't a compliment... to me it was edible but not quite enjoyable
google avatar

Allison B.

Yelp
This place makes me happy. Gluten free options abound. Will be back! Cocktails are tasty too

Geoffrey H.

Yelp
Had a wonderful meal. Veal marsala was excellent and the mushroom risotto was the perfect complement. My friend had the veal parmigiana and spaghetti which was very good but after tasting my order she regretted not ordering her own. We ordered the tiramisu to go but unfortunately it did not make it out the door--delicious. Thank you Yelp! for helping me find this charming independent restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic cocktails and food in a low key setting. Great place for a casual night out
google avatar

Kara C.

Yelp
Food was so bad. Bread was cold and dry and had definitely been recently thawed. Caesar salad tasted strange (fishy?), croutons were hard and dry, fried raviolis were dry but the sauce was good. Sausage ravioli was strange filling was very wet and I couldn't place what it was concerned it was pork and undercooked, pasta was hard. Overall the experience was poor. Glasses were dirty. Incredibly over priced. The atmosphere was cozy, but more attention needs to be given to the flavor of the food. Service was decent. Surprised the place has as high of ratings as it does. Maybe we caught them on an off day, but we were very disappointed. We paid so much and could have gone to Mandolas for half the price and twice the flavor.

John T.

Yelp
Service and ambiance were fine. Food was also good. If you are in the area it is a place to try, but nothing to travel for

Krystal H.

Yelp
We stayed at the hotel nearby and walked to the restaurant, but we all agreed that even if. We stay across town, we will be back. The food was great. The service was spectacular.
google avatar

Katherine A.

Yelp
I recommend the chicken piccata and a glass of Prosecco. The service is always great and never a wait. It's always a great place for a special occasion . The place has an intimate feel but would really work well with family dinner night.

Michael S.

Yelp
Great local restaurant. I've never been disappointed coming here! Ambiance is intimate and great for dates! The food and drinks are reasonably priced and delicious. Service is impeccable.

Bianca E.

Yelp
The food was authentic, delicious! Great atmosphere. Private and quiet The service was great. Really attentive.

Yelp
I grew in NJ and I've had a lot of Italian food between there and NYC. I gotta say, a lot of the review last here having me thinking people haven't eaten good Italian food. If this pasta is made in house, they need to stop cooking it likes it's dry. The squid ink pasta I had fell apart when I tried twirl around a fork. Miraculously the scallops in it were the driest, blandest scallops I've ever had while swimming in a bath of the sauce. I can't emphasize how awful this food is, especially considering the audacity they have to charge. Patrizi's serves at a food truck and puts this place to shame in terms of food quality and flavor. The ONLY good dish was the escargot, which, really, you can't mess up as it's just a vessel for garlic and butter. The service was okay but whoever is staffing hurts them. They had one bartender who was taking every table and making all of the drinks? Why would that ever be accountable? I've never seen a restaurant not at least have one person on the floor if they have a full service bar. Poor management. As for the decor, place looks like a dreary, bleak restaurant that hasn't had a face lift since 1990. Spending close to 250 for three people you expect the food, service and and ambiance to at least be decent but it's three strikes here. Highly recommend you pass and head to Il Brutto or Patrizi's for a less embarrassing representation of pasta dishes.

Mary D.

Yelp
Yelp took Reservations for Christmas Day and they were CLOSED!!! Communicate with each other!!!

Yelp
What a gem to find! Although it was empty when I arrived (6pm), this place was absolutely amazing. Ordered the Gnocchi di Pesce. Good, soft, pillowy, tender, melt in your mouth Gnocchi is not easy to find but Gino's has it! Definitely will come back when I am in this part of Austin and would recommend to everyone.! It's a dinner place, check their hours before going.

Araceli G.

Yelp
Truly enjoyed the food and service. Great customer service. Will definitely come back.

Yelp
Got the Amante della Carne which has Italian Sausage. Now I'm not sure if all Italian sausage is supposed to pack some heat, but that was definitely unexpectedly spicy. So just something to keep in mind for any of their sausage dishes. I could barely eat half of it because of the spice level. Also, their menu said there's gluten free pasta available (which is part of why I selected this restaurant) but when I picked up and went to pay there was a charge for that. I don't mind that in general but would have been nice to know in advance of ordering. My husband got the Bucatini Arabatia (sp?) and liked it a lot. Appreciated that they were not skimpy with the portions especially the sausage. Hence my 4 star rating instead of 3. For Italian in East Austin I prefer Il Brutto. But may give Gino's another try DTR.

Elena P.

Yelp
This is a go-to every time I'm in Austin!! The food and service is always amazing. Love this family owned restaurant, they make my visits so personable!

Jon Erik G.

Yelp
It was such a cute ma and pa restaurant. Great example of "don't judge a book by its cover". The food was amazing and the owners were amazingly sweet and accommodating for a birthday celebration.
google avatar

Tracy T.

Yelp
Really disappointed! Ordered through Uber Eats as we were visiting Austin and didn't have a car. The food came quickly and was warm but that was the best part. We ordered the Salmon Griliata which was fine, but nothing exciting. We also ordered the Melanzane Parmigiano (eggplant parmigiana) and it was totally bland. Not enough sauce on the pasta, no flavor, soggy breading on the eggplant. It was probably a 3 star meal, but because of the price ($30+ per meal) it's a 2 star experience. Meh.
google avatar

Heather T.

Yelp
I had high hopes for this one but it was a bust. The garlic bread is delicious and they have a decent showing of Italian wines on the wine list. It was also relatively easy to get a reservation, even on a Friday night. The restaurant is quaint and cozy and the staff is friendly. We had issues with the TV at the bar showing very gruesome, bloody movies while we dined, which ruined the date night Italian bistro vibe. The food was hit and miss. My partner got the squid ink pasta in red sauce. The pasta itself was good but the seafood it came with seemed old or overcooked. The portions were generous, though. The gorgonzola steak risotto was ok. The steak was tough and needed to served with a steak knife. The risotto itself was good but needed a touch more gorgonzola. The real issue with the food is we think it caused us to be sick later in the evening, though not 100%. The service was pretty good, but the waiter seemed a tad nervous and forgot to bring drinks that were ordered (but weren't charged for). I don't know if we will be visiting again but it would be good in a pinch for non-seafood options or a quiet date night.
google avatar

C W.

Yelp
Unreal. I would have gotten better food at Olive Garden. Instead, I paid over $00 for a chicken parm, chicken picatta and an appetizer all of which were completely unimpressive. I lived in Italy, NYC and Boston so I know Italian food. Austin has a dearth of Italian restaurants. This was truly pathetic. What a ripoff.
google avatar

Luiza H.

Yelp
I really wanted to give a good review but too many things went wrong. We had a reservation at 8. Ended up getting there a bit earlier and the guy that received us was not friendly at all. He just said: well, seems like we are all full. That's when I asked about bar sitting (they had like 6 spaces available). Up to this point.. No big deal! We started with drinks, which I must say.. where good! But that's pretty much the only good part of the night. The service was not consistent and it took a while to get our orders in. My risotto was not really a risotto. It was made with regular rice and really bland. At least the salmon and asparagus were good. Husband had the fettuccine with 3 types of meat and his meal was better than mine (once he added salt). If it wasn't for my bland risotto and the service, I would say it was worth giving it a second chance but honestly.. there are better places in Austin!

Yelp
My girlfriend and I were heavily craving some good Italian food earlier tonight and saw Gino's on Yelp with 4.5 stars and figured why not give it a try? Since we were last minute with these plans, figured I'd call up and see if they could squeeze us in. The person who answered the phone said there's no need for a reservation. I thought that was a bit odd for it being a Sunday and a weekend where families are in town moving there kids into college but I figured we'd just swing by. Walking in at 7:30 p.m. we immediately noticed not a SINGLE other restaurant guest in attendance as we were walked to our seat by the ONLY staff member in the restaurant's front of house. No host. No bartender. No manager. This poor waitress was responsible for it all. As we sat down I noticed how oddly decorated the restaurant was. Old white table cloths, red curtain-like dated seat coverings and even noticed the one large table in the center of the room was a folding table disguised as a regular table. As we looked over the menu, we couldn't help but overhear the Latin music blasting from the kitchen and interfering with the Italian music in the dining room. So bizarre and chaotic. Garlic bread was served about 5 minutes after being seated and immediately I could tell it was bread that was frozen. (I have family send bagels from the northeast all the time and it was the same consistency and texture). Upon attempting to eat the bread we noticed all of our silverware was dirty with old food contents dried up on them. We had to take silverware from the table next to us. One of us ordered a Fettuccine Alfredo and one of us ordered a fettuccine with cream and brandy sauce that included sausage and meatballs. After the food arrived and we had taken a few bites, my girlfriend said "there's no way this dish is worth paying for" and I said I couldn't tell that my dish was any different than hers if it weren't for the meatballs. The Alfredo had no flavor, pasta seemed undercooked, and chicken meat was very fatty. My dish tasted like an Alfredo. It was bland, pasta undercooked, and meatballs were some of the worst I've had. No garlic, not enough breadcrumbs, no cheese, no parsley.. nothing. Seemed like just meat rolled into a ball and fried. Needless to say we didn't order dessert and got out of there as soon as possible. This restaurant is barely worth the one star and we had the conversation how we could've went to the Cheesecake Factory and gotten better Italian. Just wild.

Yelp
Locally owned, fresh pasta daily, and the best service! My family adores this place and they pay so much special attention to you. You will leave a member of the Gino's family. You will always get VIP service whether it is your first or 30th visit. When I call to make a reservation, they remember my name on caller ID. When I flew from out of state to see my mom, she took me here, and I felt like a member of the Gino's family. This photo is of my family, Gino and his wife. Such an amazing dinner!

Yelp
Very large portions. Rich food. Tasty!! Good service. Fun place. Haven't been there in awhile though. I'm on a sodium restricted diet. Can't remember the pricing. Gino is very nice!

Aforarielle7 ..

Yelp
This was literally the worst place I have ever eaten. Every single thing from the appetizers to the pasta lacked flavor. We had a very large party, and only 3 out of 10 people liked their dish. The carbonara was awful, and tasted sour. Very unpleasant. The chicken Parmesan was EXTREMELY over cooked. It was like trying to chew through leather, and also lacked any type of seasoning. This was our first time here, the yelp pictures and reviews made everything look and sound amazing. Very unfortunate for us, must have been an extremely off night.

Paul A.

Yelp
We wanted to like it! We went early on a Sunday evening and were the only ones there. Service was fine, though not particularly warm. Ambiance: cozy, not pretentious, felt mom-and-pop, which is what we wanted. It was my birthday and we brought a bottle of Barolo for which the corking fee was $35; seemed steep. Calamari: okay. Caesar salad wasn't made tableside--okay, but the romaine was decidedly not crisp, somewhat soggy. I had the dish with fettuccine, mushrooms, and sausage. Large portion, quality pretty good. My wife had the gnocchi dish with mixed seafood, which could have been good but all the seafood was overdone, especially the salmon and scallops. The shrimp weren't rubbery yet but close. Gnocchi pretty good. We discussed whether we'd return and if so we'd probably get something tomato based, a bolognese dish, meatballs, lasagne, but the motivation is not high. Could have easily been four stars at least if the seafood hadn't been so overcooked and the salad had been better. A good Caesar is a cinch. We told the waiter about our food and he said, "good to know." Need to tighten up on quality control. 95% of my Yelp restaurant reviews are positive but this was disappointing.

Yelp
I love this place! The ambiance is wonderful for lunch or dinner! The menu is extensive but not overwhelming; only exceeded by the quality of the food! Service and staff are to be admired! I recommend this restaurant without reservation!

Yelp
We had a great time with family at Gino's restaurant Saturday night! We had reservations to accommodate our large group!! The service was awesome and "Ping", the door hostess, took great care of us. Our waiter was awesome too, and took great care of us, checking on our table frequently. They have a full bar and great wine list! Our table consumed several bottles of delicious red wine! The bread is delicious and all the appetizers were on point. Calamari was very good as well as the bruschetta and burrata. The Caesar salad was fresh and delicious. My husband ordered a filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly accompanied by delicious grilled asparagus. I had the Tagliaelle Bolognese and it was so delicious. homemade pasta and meat sauce!! We enjoyed our amazing dinner and spent several hours at the restaurant. The ambience was nice and relaxing and they had a gentleman playing and singing Frank Sinatra songs! It was awesome!! Would love to go back on our next trip to Austin!!

Yelp
I went to Gino's on Sunday with friends visiting from China. It is quite the place and I will be back to try the squid ink pasta. The owners are there to explain the menu and their history in the business. My friend was craving salmon and many places were closed in Austin. I had Gino's on my bookmarks so when he yelped salmon, Gino's was # 4 and not an ad. What a culinary experience I had. The risotto was damn good and it had shrimp and scallops. K got the salmon medium rare so I had a bit of the end which was perfect for me. He loved it and the fancy wine that I need to ask Gino about because it was a damn good Pinot. Caparccio di Casa was decadent. I will be back for happy hour and table side caesar salad.
google avatar

Shawn C.

Yelp
I've got gluten sensitivity so that typically makes Italian a non-option to me, so I was excited to find out that Gino's Vino Osteria offers substitutions for their dishes with gluten-free linguine, risotto, and polenta. I wasn't sure what to expect when I entered the restaurant and was delighted to walk in on live music and a vibe that reminded me of the mom and pop Italian restaurants in the NY/NJ area. Service was prompt and friendly and the caesar salad prepared at the table-side, as well as the entree that had gluten-free risotto, was very tasty. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Yelp
We went to Ginos last night in Round Rock. The food was delicious. I had a seared trout dish and it was so phenomenal that I had to call the waiter to say "I am a chef. Please tell the chef that that dish was the most well excused trout dish I've ever ever had. Amazing. No doubt I'll return next week for the same Trout dish. I chose sautéed spinach over pasta. Delicious. Siracusa Pinot Grigio An 8 ounce pan seared crusted Trout with artichokes and mushrooms, topped with a lemon wine sauce. Served with a side of spaghetti marinara. $18.99

Yelp
Wonderful family owned quaint place Homemade pasta Excellent dishes Great service Love this place forever

Yelp
Ginos has ridiculously fabulous crab cakes!! Super meaty, flavorful, and downright Devine. Comes drizzled with a delicious yet subtle basalmic reduction. It's really special. As is the escargot! They're big, buttery, tender, garlicky and goes great with the crostinis. I was literally dunking them in the leftover buttery goodness from the escargot. I enjoyed the creamy surf and turf. The shrimp were huge and plentiful and the mushroom risotto was great. The dish was well presented and packed some great flavor! I loved the artichokes in it. The seafood saltati was excellent. It was big perfectly cooked shrimp, scallops, and salmon in a flavorful but light jalapeño sauce. I really liked the tomato's and garlic in the Saltati. Gino knows what he's doing with his dishes. We also enjoyed the jalapeño pineapple rita. It was poured VERY strong. The drink was delicious and surprisingly not spicy. With only one of these I had a nice little buzz going. We had happy hour pricing and for ALL of this top notch food and drinks it came to only $47!

Linda S.

Yelp
I liked the quaint, intimate atmosphere, but there was a problem with my food. My son tells me never to order steak at an Italian restaurant, but I didn't heed that advice. How can one mess up a filet mignon? Anyway, my filet mignon seemed to be so full of sinew that I could barely slice it. Not good. I eat my steaks medium-medium rare which was fine and not the problem. It cost $48.00! I did like the risotto and asparagus that came with it, though. My adult daughter got the veal marsala - she didn't complain nor rave about it. We ended up with a $194.00 bill for two (includes drinks), which wasn't really worth it - maybe the pasta would have been good.
