"Teppanyaki meets French cuisine at this elegant institution, the lobby of which feels like a museum filled with Art Nouveau pieces by Lalique and Émile Gallé. The first few courses are classic French dishes that have been elevated with Japanese seafood and produce. The main stage goes to tender seared Wagyu beef. Niigata koshihikari rice, considered by many to be the best in the country, ends the teppanyaki portion. The meal concludes in a dessert room with a cart laden with petits fours, caramels, macarons, and more. Ukai-tei is open for lunch, which is a good value. Insider tip: For your own private chef, request a private room when booking."

One of the best Teppanyaki place we ever visited! My dad came back here 3 times! Nearly every visit of Tokyo 🥰 The service was top notched, the food was amazing, the atmosphere was very luxurious and unique. We love the decorations and interior design. The chef was very skilled, we enjoyed every bit of the course. They also accommodated us very well since 2 of our parties do not eat beef so they prepared a very refined seafood centric course for us. They also offered to call us a taxi at the end of the meal. We were very happy although we didn’t take up the offer and decided to walk back to our hotel which was in Ginza anyway. Overall a most excellent experience! Highly recommended!

We had dinner here to celebrate my dad's birthday, and the whole meal was very great. Every course we had was delicious, and it was an amazing experience to watch our chef prepare the main dishes for our dinner right in front of us. Two of those, the fish course and the wagyu course, were my favourites.

Impressive lunch course and services. It was a great experience here. Definitely coming back to this place every time I visit Tokyo from now on. The head chef was super friendly, as well as other staffs in the restaurant. Every dishes tastes amazing. The lunch course costs ~13,000 yen (+4,400 yen if you change to tenderloin). This is more than enough to make someone who eats a lot to become full. (and of course, memorable)

Extraordinary culinary experience with very tasty food and impeccable service. We went for lunch and our party of seven selected the beef and abalone menu. The shrimp, abalone and beef courses stood out!

If you're in Tokyo, Ginza Ukai-Tei is an absolute must-visit! The setting is beautiful, with a modern yet elegant ambiance that perfectly complements its prime location. The food is simply outstanding—especially the steak and lobster, which are cooked to perfection. The assortment of desserts is a delightful way to end your meal, with each one bursting with flavor. If you're visiting during lunch, I highly recommend trying their set menu—it offers incredible value and a great variety of dishes. Our group had an amazing time, and the service was impeccable, with attentive staff ensuring we had everything we needed. We’ll definitely be back the next time we're in town

📍 Ginza Ukai-tei Address: 1F Jiji-tsushin Bldg. 5-15-8 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo 104-0061 Let’s start by talking about what I love about this place- beautiful interior, excellent service and good value for money. Loved the beef curry that was served at the end of the meal (and the cute staff serving it 🤭). The cheesecake and wine pairing were pretty nice as well. Meanwhile I found the seasoning of some of the dishes to be rather excessive, esp the fish which was completely soaked in balsamic vinegar and layers of cheese. I’d prefer it to be cooked in a more minimalist way to bring out its original flavor.

Impeccable service and atmosphere, excellent food. We went for their special course and top up for Kobe beef. It’s very satisfactory dinner. Even the dessert is nice. Great culinary skill and service. Highly recommended.

Yelp
We made a reservation and came by for dinner. The waiting room's decor is pretty. The staff were friendly and efficient. The chef would cook in front of us but each time we would have to wait a bit for the next item to be cooked. The food tasted good. After we were done with the courses, the dessert would be served in a different area. The desserts tasted good. Overall a good experience. The bathroom was clean.

Yelp
Very expensive, very worth it. I got the 19,440 yen (~$175) set course meal. I'm a very picky eater, but they were able to adjust the course menu according to my liking. For example, I don't eat meat so instead of the steak, I got the scallop. Every bite was worth it. They cook most of your food right in front of you on their teppan grill. The two people I've had were friendly and willing to answer any questions about the food. Be ready to spend at least $200/person since you'll probably want a drink with your meal. I've been here twice, and I can't wait to go back again soon!

Yelp
Food was great and presentation was also beautiful - we loved the abalone course the most which was sooo fresh and tasty. The bill came at roughly 300 USD per person which I found a bit pricy for a Michelin 1 star restaurant, but maybe it's normal around Ginza area.

Yelp
As a filthy American and a native New Yorker, I like to eat the best of the best food and love to be in the middle of the action. AMERICA I don't give a fuck if it costs me a ton of cabbage to do what I do. AMERICA I also love meat (nohomo)...Japanese-style teppanyaki rules. The beef tenderloin and beef sirloin were so tender, flavorful and deelish. AMERICA You better pack a wad of cash or have a high credit limit...this is Ginza and this place will cost you an arm and a leg. AMERICA Soooo worth it, though. Yelp
What a meal! It was around $250 a person, which is crazy expensive but for this price, I had the best beef of my life! Reservations are highly recommended... Not because the place is packed, but they will not be as nice if you come in without a reservation. Also, request to sit at the counter. That is the only way to see the full show of the teppan grill. We decided to order a la carte and set menus start around 17,000 yen (around $160 per person). My husband started with the onion soup. I was surprised to find that it was served cold but nonetheless it was creamy and wonderful. We shared the Japanese spiny lobster and the tenderloin and some asparagus. Everything was wonderful and perfectly cooked but I want to give special mention to the beef. It was not from Kobe, as I learned that the best Japanese beef in fact is not from Kobe. It was perfectly marbled, like an example piece of meat. I had it cooked medium rare. It's served with a small side of soy sauce and black pepper. Perfection. The lobster was lovely and the asparagus was a good but very simple. The star of the show here is definitely the beef. For dessert they move you to a different area of the restaurant and serve the most heavenly petit fours. I ordered the cheesecake ice cream and it was light, sweet and refreshing. Needless to say we left very satisfied. I will say portions are not huge, so be prepared to spend a lot with out being stuffed.

Yelp
There is a lot to take in when dining here: it's a bit like Alice in Wonderland as my friend put it (decor and customer wise). It came to us by recommendation of the hotel, although I think I prefer Kawamura for teppanyaki as I prefer a more simple dining experience. It was interesting that everyone else sitting at the bar was from out of town-not sure what that says about the place. We ordered a la carte, which gave us an opportunity to try a little bit of everything. Some of the items weren't available, which actually made it easier to order. Chestnut soup, tenderloin and sirloin were all delicious, and while not necessary, their mustard sauce (for the meat) is heavenly. The scallops were also good, but you'd need a few if you go the fish route. The potato dish was amazing, loved the gruyere on top. The service was great, our chef was polite and answered no less than a hundred questions (that we had).

Yelp
Gorgeous restaurant with great service. Abalone is definitely the best.

Yelp
This place is exquisite--exceeded our expectations in every way. The ambiance, service, and food were outstanding. Truly a spectacular dining experience. My tip for other travelers: take the time to dress up a bit for this elegant restaurant. We went to the restaurant for a late lunch straight from a day of sight seeing at imperial palace. Although the staff was kind and gracious, I felt embarrassed by our attire.

Yelp
The shop to settle. A salesclerk cooks good-quality ingredients deliciously in front of us. The pepper-and-salt beef is good, too, but recommendation is halite steaming of the abalones. The dessert after a meal is delicious and is refined taste. There should be a little more quantity. Is it consideration for a woman customer?
