Yelp
Super friendly, laid back sports bar with one of the better happy hour deals. The original plan was to go to happy hour at Picaro, but I got the hours wrong and we didn't want to wait so Rudi's it was. This is not the type of place that I would ever step foot in of my own accord, so I was definitely skeptical of what was in store. The bartender came over quickly with menus and confirmed the happy hour deals, then proceeded to check IDs. When it took us a while to decide on something to drink, she offered to let us sample some options. I decided to go with a sample of some amber ale and some fruited sour, not entirely sure which ones because I didn't see a photo of the happy hour menu on Yelp, but they were both solid choices. I was eyeing a canned cherry sour but was on the fence because I don't tend to like sour ales or goses, however the bartender sold me on it and it turned out to be a great choice. If you like straight up lemon juice like me, get this.
We also ordered the mozzarella sticks which were alright. They come with either ranch or marinara sauce. I wish they had at least one lighter food option on the happy hour menu because I really wasn't feeling anything greasy, but this is a sports bar so I can't complain. Wines are not included in the happy hour deal just for the record. I see multiple previous reviews making a big deal out of the service charge, maybe I'd be saying some things too if I didn't show up for happy hour but given the circumstances I wasn't upset.
I have seen bigger crowds at this spot for live music and open mic nights, but during happy hour it is much quieter. I'm not sure if it was the amber ale, the fruited sour, the cherry sour, or all three together, but I definitely left slightly buzzed. If you're looking for the alcohol effect, you'll get there fast at this spot.
