My husband was craving Chicago deep dish pizza, and Giordano's seemed like the best choice in Orlando. I have been to Giordano's in Chicago and loved the deep dish pizza.
The restaurant is in an unassuming plaza. Honestly, I didn't pay much attention to it before and didn't know they had more locations in Orlando. When we got there, it was packed, but the wait time wasn't too bad. The main dining area is tight, but they also have a more casual section on the side. I preferred the main dining area as it has the décor and feels cozy.
We went there with a mission to try the Chicago Classic Deep Dish. Our waitress mentioned it takes 45 minutes for the deep dish pizza, which I remembered when I went to Giordano's in Chicago. While we waited, we ordered some appetizers, including mozzarella triangles and garlic parmesan fries. Of those two, my favorite was the mozzarella triangles.
Our deep-dish pizza was right on time and worth the wait. The Chicago Classic Deep Dish has pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers, and onions. The crust was crispy, and the filling had the right amount of sauce and cheese. We loved it! We ordered the small size which serves 2-3 people ($27.25). The portion was right and we even took the last piece home.
Other items on their menu include Giordano's "Tavern-Style" Thin Crust, pasta, salads, and sandwiches.
Service was excellent, too; even though it was a busy night, our waitress kept checking on us and updating us on the timing of our deep-dish pizza. Waiting 45 minutes for food sounds like a lot, but it wasn't too bad.
