I recently visited Giotto Pizzeria in Florence and was quite disappointed with my experience. Although Google Maps indicated that they closed at 23.00 pm, when we arrived at 10:15 pm, a young Tamil man (I believe) informed us that they were already closed. A few minutes later, a female staff member came and said they would close in 10 minutes and that we could order if we wanted to eat within five minutes. This was Not true because fifteen minutes later, two more girls arrived and sat down. The young Tamil man began to wander around the restaurant, humming tunelessly and making strange, almost dance-like gestures with his fingers. It was quite distracting and frankly, a bit unnerving.
The pizzas were nothing special. The mushrooms on one of them were quite slimy, and overall, I felt that we paid too much for what we got. The glass of wine we ordered was disappointingly small.
The pizzeria was quite busy, and the kitchen was directly opposite us, where they were mopping the floor. The strong smell of the cleaning product was unpleasant and detracted from our dining experience.
Based on this experience, I would not recommend Giotto Pizzeria to others.
