Let me start with this comment that will leave many scratching their heads... the much loved garlic knots that so many reviewers have raved about? They are at best mediocre. Either we came on a bad day for them or they are all hype but I get vastly more flavor and enjoyment from Pepperidge Farms garlic bread with cheese then I did from these. Knots of a not well executed bread that are dry and kind if crumbly with olive oil, minced garlic & Parmesan dumped on them.
Now for the positives... everything else... EVERYTHING... was... perfect. I mean PERFECT perfect. The salad was crisp and refreshing. The dressing was either house made or a damn fine, expensive pre-made. The pasta was cooked (here's that word again) perfectly with a little bit of tooth to it yet still tender. The service was warm and welcoming; the kind of friendly you got from your best friend's mom when you came over for dinner. The atmosphere was fantastic! It's a little crowded with the low din of conversation from every table in the place, like a well attended Thanksgiving at Grandmas.
My daughter got spaghetti & meatballs. The girl we can't cajole into eating her whole meal with the promise of a popsicle afterwards demanded more of the most tender and flavorful meatballs ever and slurped down every strand of pasta coated in that bright, fresh, sweet, salty and mildly acidic marinara (I HAD to taste everyone's meal so these opinions are all mine and are 1st hand)
My wife got, as she always does when we go Italian, Fettuccine Alfredo. If some well meaning person replaced the definition of the word Decadent in an online dictionary with a photograph of this sauce I'd be like, "Well yeah, that makes sense". Richer then Jeff Bezos. Smoother then satin sheets. Thick enough to coat the noodles completely from end to end. When sneaking my fork in to try it I barely escaped with my life. Luckily my debt was payed in full (and then some) with a bite of my meal.
I, hands down, won dinner that night. When our server said that the special came from an uncle who was visiting from Italy that caught my attention. House made gnocchi in a cream sauce with pepperoni and a bunch of other stuff. I'm not sure what because as soon as she said house made gnocchi my brain shut down while my mouth blurted out, "Yes please". When my wife asked me how it was, "Rich. Creamy. Lightly salty. Mildly spicy. Savory. Cheesy. Addictive. Effing amazing. " Is what I would have if I'd had the will power to stop eating it, which I did not. When I was told it was a cream sauce with pepperoni I knew they were swinging for the fence, this was either going to be a train wreck or a home run. Ken Griffey Jr. couldn't have done better. This was some mad genius food. I still get emotional thinking about it.
Please be aware, this is a small kitchen. You will not eat for 45-60 minutes after ordering. It's not fancy but you will pay casual fine dining prices. The parking lot is small. The booths are a little tight. It's kind of noisy. And YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED... it's addictive.
