Dear friends invited us for dinner - and we were looking for a quiet restaurant where we could sit and talk while enjoying the food.
We try to check things out before we went - reviews (the usual mix of amazing and absolutely horrible) and their website. I must say, it always puts me off a bit when restaurants "hide" the prices on the website. Why do so? There should not be a secret - and you sure do not want to "negatively surprise" any patrons realizing that the place is over their budget after having been seated.
We went on a Saturday night - and it was - apart from the over-tired kid on the next table - quiet (as quite empty).
Our waiter was very knowledgeable and very willing to accommodate every of wishes - and we really tested him ;-) For us as Europeans, the service speed was perfect, for Americans unusually slow.
We all found the menu very inspiring - but, and there is always a but, it comes somewhat silly when you strive that you constantly change your menu and still advertise it as "the spring menu" .... at the end of August ;-)
The portions were small, beautifully presented and very tasty - the prices were, as I had already assumed by not being available on the restaurant's website, a bit on the high side.
We loved the food, we loved the place, we loved the waiter - and still, I am not sure if we will return. As from taste and ambience, they sure have exceeded our expectation, I award them four stars (in my rating scheme I normally do only give four stars if I vow to return, five only if I was prepared to make a 30+ min detour to go). If you like to try new restaurants and are not on a budget, I can highly recommend the place.
