How to Plan a Ski Trip to Alyeska Resort

"A timber-framed, walkable taproom near the base offering a wide selection of craft beers (plus root beer and kombucha) and a rotating lineup of food trucks—ranging from crepes and ramen to pizza and Mexican—making it a casual après spot for a beer and rotating bites." - Evie Carrick Evie Carrick Evie Carrick is a writer and editor who’s lived in five countries and visited well over 50. Thoroughly enjoyed this quick stop just a couple of miles off the Seward highway in Girdwood. Excellent beer and 2 food trucks when I visited. We got a simple but delicious rice bowl. There was also a pizza truck. Would recommend!

Loved this spot at the base of Alyeska Ski Resort! Jammed with ski bunnies this craft brewery has some great beers on taps for even the most discerning palettes! Lots of places to sit down and enjoy the many beers they have on tap! The place is very clean and they have food trucks outside if you have the munchies (tried HIGH FIVE HAND PIES - it was their first day and it was pretty good!) Staff are friendly and are pretty chill and get their crowd! A popular beer here was their FUNKBERRY PIE! Tried a flight here with the following: NO WOMAN NO CRYO FUNKBERRY PIE DOWN THE CHUTE HIPPY SPEED BALL Each of them were pretty good! On a side note - they have really cool apparel (which is a bit pricey but thats to be expected). The place has plenty of parking and off the Seward Highway (which is pretty breathtaking). All in all and really awesome experience that everyone should experience!

Charming location and patio. Great coffee stout, great food truck option on site with burgers (meat or Beyond), (pizza dough sold out at other Mountain Pie one)

Girdwood Brewing Company was a chill place with local vibes. Surrounded by mountain ranges and convenient to the airport, downtown, resort and river, it’s a place that welcomes both locals and new adventurers. The beer was crisp and cold and the staff were eager to give suggestions. The firepit located around the front and side of the building were inviting, even on a late July evening. Food trucks offered delectable meals or snacks that hit the spot after a long day of exploring this beautiful Alaskan town. The brewery is decorated with skis and natural wood that lends itself to a ski lodge vibe. We truly enjoyed our time there and plan to visit again tomorrow. Cheers to the staff and locals that were generous enough to share this experience with us.

Girdwood Brewing Company, located just five minutes off the Seward Highway and down the road from the base of the Alyeska Ski Resort, is a must-visit for anyone traveling through the area. The brewery boasts a ski lodge atmosphere with a great mountain view, offering a relaxing and scenic spot to enjoy some great beer. Our favorite from their lineup was the Funkberry Pie, a complex and delightful beer crafted with strawberries, raspberries, boysenberries, lactose, and conditioned on vanilla beans and graham crackers. This unique combination was rich and fruity, not only making it a standout on our flight - but a standout beer of the 23 breweries we visited in Alaska. The large taproom provides ample space for large groups, while the outside beer garden, complete with fire pits, offers a stunning view of Mount Alyeska. I think the vibe here is laid-back and welcoming. Andrew said the vibe was "happy ski bums enjoying great beer." I don't think we've ever used that phrase to describe a brewery, but it should translate well enough. With rotating food trucks adding to the experience, Girdwood Brewing Company is definitely worth the stop if you're driving from Anchorage to Seward or Homer. It’s the perfect place to unwind and soak in the spirit of Alaska.
