"As the name clearly states, all the dishes (fish and meat) at this restaurant are cooked on the charcoal grill. The menu here includes dry-aged meat options (T-bone, prime rib, bone-in tenderloin etc). Other standout dishes include the Maminha (sirloin trip-tip), the Picanha supra sumo (supra sumo rump cap), the brand’s registered trademark, as well as the slow-cooked Uruguayan lamb shoulder served with its own jus. A number of fish and seafood options are also on display, which vary according to availability on the day. The decor here features exposed stone walls, wooden chairs and leather sofas, all of which combine to add a rustic-elegant touch. Not forgetting the extensive wine cellar in the basement, featuring over 400 labels from different countries." - Michelin Inspector

Giuseppe Grill Leblon

"If you like red meat, especially a good rump cut, then try the Giuseppe Grill picanha supra sumo. The meat comes medium rare, served with house potatoes (thinly sliced and roasted with onions and rosemary) and the flavour is indescribable. Seafood options include Porto cod fillet and grouper as well as other fish, lobsters and slipper lobsters, which you can choose to have cooked on the grill or over hot coals. The ambience is easy and the jazz music excellent." - Michelin Inspector

The food was delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed the drinks, the meal and my dessert. I had the shrimp mini pot which was small but mighty and hearty. The cod croquettes were hot and melted in your mouth. The cheesecake was really the cherry on top. No complaints, highly recommend.

Great food and atmosphere. Wilian was our waiter and he was very kind, helpful and friendly. He helped us choose steaks and made us feel very welcome. I would suggest you guys to treat this guy very well as we would be happy to come again because of him. The food also tasted amazing. Oysters were so fresh and creamy and they had amazing taste. Everything else was full of flavours. 10/10. Thank you!

Once again, it's a top-notch. A must visit for steak lovers in Rio. We started off with the Minipot of Ox meat served with thin crumbled bread and a portion of beef patties. When we informed the pasties were tad bit cold, we were immediately served with a fresh batch of the same, which tasted much better. Both our starters were appetizing and scored high on our taste buds! Then came the show stoppers. Perfectly cooked medium Rib Eye and the Picanha. Served on warm plates (as it should be), they both were amazing. Highly recommended. I tired both (as the portions are generous). The cubed potatoes on the side were good, but the mixed vegetables didn't make it up to the mark. We finished off with the coconut ice cream and Romeo Juliet. While the latter was a tad bit too sweet for me, the coconut ice cream desert was a great and clever artisinal treat. The service was impeccable and attentive. We were served by Paiva, who had food knowledge of the menu and guided us throughout our gastronomical journey. The restaurant appeared very busy for a Monday night, yet no complaint about the service. Reservation is always recommended. It is a must visit (price is words a steep side) if you love meat. Enjoy!!

We came to Guiseppe Grill on Wednesday to celebrate my partner’s birthday, and it turned out to be one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. Our waiter, Wesley, was absolutely fantastic — if I could give him 6 stars, I would. We ordered the rump steak and the tartare. The tartare alone was exceptional, but what really impressed me was when I thought to myself how perfect it would be with some bread… and moments later, Wesley appeared with a basket, almost like he had read my mind. The food was indescribably delicious, every bite better than the last. The staff also went above and beyond to make the evening special by bringing out a birthday plate and singing for my partner. A delicious meal and a little embarrassment for her? The perfect night for me! 😆 Overall, I can’t recommend Wesley and Guiseppe Grill enough.

Google
One of the best meals I’ve ever had. The absolute best steak was their Picanha Supra Sumo with mashed potatoes. The sauce they served on the side with the steak was amazing. We will be going back again this week while we are in town. Such a wonderful dinner!

Google
The meal was great. Price quality is top. The Picanha was masterly cooked and on point. Meat was tender, great place. I reduce one star because of the service. I barely finished and they took the dish and everything from The table. I get that a restaurant can care about rotation but it was borderline rude.

Visited in June 2024. Brazil. Rio de Janeiro. This place had great reviews on Google, and they have a huge menu of grilled meats and seafood, which we love, so we decided to check it out. It has a nice interior, with displays of aged meats and fresh seafood. Food: We tried the traditional Brazilian codfish pastries. The cod inside was juicy with potatoes, and the crust was crispy. They were well-prepared and great for an appetizer. For our main course, we got a huge grilled lobster. It was cooked with a crispy crust, but the inside was a little dry. It was on the edge, but the garlic butter sauce helped. We had veggies and broccoli rice as sides, and the rice was way better. Service: The service was good. Some of the waiters spoke English, which was a huge plus. The appetizers came out really fast, but the main course took a while. Overall, everything was good. Overall: This is a great restaurant with a wide selection of grilled seafood and meats. I recommend it. It’s a good time if you can overlook some minor flaws.

Yelp
I'm an American foodie so that doesn't speak volumes at all lol but the food we had tasted out of this world. I had my birthday dinner here and it was AMAZING!! I had short rib with creamy mash potatoes and my friend had salmon with regular potatoes. Our waiter Bruno was handsome, spoke English and gave beyond great service. This place is so nice and is actually pretty big as they have downstairs too. It seems more like fine dining. EVERYTHING was SPECTACULAR and I had the best Birthday meal a girl could ask for!!!!

Yelp
Very good and amazingly reasonable prices. I had the Lobster, which was presented live at the table. It was very good, but not the best I've ever had. The cream spinach was very good as well. One of my dining companions said her steak was not as great as expected, but good. Worth the visit

Yelp
This was recommended by my hotel "The fairmont" and it was absolutely amazing! The staff, food, and ambiance was over the top! Oysters were great starters along with the white fish ceviche. My main course was the lobster with mixed veggies and rice all which were very flavorful and i was able to try the steak (i forget which cut) but it was perfect temperature and yummy!

Yelp
The steak and seafood was excellent. The portions also are big. Meat cooked perfectly. Their wine list is also probably the largest in the area.

Collier B.

Yelp
Very good steakhouse. Definitely get their specialty picanha. Deserts are also fantastic.

Yelp
Best meal I had in this city, and there's a lot of good food in town! The steak was the winner along with the house rice. Great wine selection, ambiance and service. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Food was great. Prices aren't too bad if you're comparing to US prices. They do have a cover charge per person though on top of service fees. They also charge you for to-go containers, which I've never experienced before.
google avatar

Yelp
It's the best pure steakhouse we've had in Rio. Simple, high quality cuts cooked perfectly. It was expensive for the area and the reason for taking a star away. While I understand a cover charge, R$25 a person was excessive for the area.

Yelp
Lugar sensacional, com todo tipo de comida. Todas são deliciosas. Ambiente espaçoso, e boa acústica. Tudo que eu provei estava maravilhoso. Preço acima da média.

Yelp
This place is pretty inside with good food and reasonably priced compared to similar restaurants in the U.S. We came here for our last dinner on our two week South America trip since the staff at our hotel recommended it and we were not disappointed! The complimentary starters consisted of various cheese, olive oil and flavorful veggie dips served with bread crackers, bread buns and a generous amount of carrots and cucumbers. It was quite the spread! The hot pot appetizers are tasty but extremely filling even though the portions are small. Sharing one is enough for two people if you're ordering an entrée that also comes with a side. By the time my grouper entrée and side of polenta arrived I was stuffed from the starters and hot pot already. We were originally going to share one hot pot but the only reason we ordered two was because our waiter was pushy about ordering one per person and somehow convinced us to. This is my only complaint about this place. Ideally I would have gotten one of the steaks. I sampled some from my boyfriend since he said it was one of the best steaks he's had at a restaurant. And I definitely have to agree with him on this one! Overall, the food is delicious, the service is attentive, and the menu is in English and they have English speaking staff. This is quite helpful if you don't speak Portuguese! If I'm ever back in Rio I would definitely try to eat here again.

Yelp
My first time in Rio and I wanted a good meal including steak!! Also wanted to try a traditional caipirinha! Was not disappointed, the atmosphere was casual but stylish. Really nice decor and the bar was fully stocked. Even though I speak no Portuguese whatsoever, the staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to welcome me! The caipirinha was amazing and the steak was cooked perfectly as you can see below. No need for fancy sauces or seasoning,, this meat stands on its own and the Giuseppe potatoes were the perfect compliment. Also dessert was amazing with an egg and ice cream mixed treat!

Yelp
This restaurant is totally "hit or miss." You might have a good steak and attentive service. Or, like today, you might get mediocre beef and poor service. Overall, a disappointing experience and poor value for money.

Yelp
High-end steakhouse with a classy atmosphere but still open and casual. We had an early dinner at Giuseppe Grill Leblon, and we had a great time! The pork sausage starter was really good, same for the Porterhouse Steak we shared. Highly recommended!

Yelp
My wife and I thought it was excellent! On par with what we experience in NYC. T-Bone was excellent along with her fish. Ambiance is cool as well. Like all places in Central and South America, if you need something don't wait for the waiter to ask, just grab the first waiter to walk by. It's just how it is! Loved the Caipirinha's as well!! My favorite in Brazil

Yelp
On the positive side, the front of house staff were outstanding and the decor very attractive. Unfortunately most of the dishes our party of six had were disappointing. Appetizers were offered and later charged to the bill of fare without prior indication of cost. The specialty was grilled beef. We each asked for medium to rare and all steaks were served medium to well done. The Cafe de Paris, Oswaldo Aranha, and Gross Sal were extremely dry and with little taste. The grill seafood salad was over seasoned with each item tasting the same. The steak au poivre vert and the picanha were enjoyed. Overall for a restaurant billed for having the best meat in Rio, our experience was a great disappointment.

Yelp
I love this place! They start you off with a bunch of different complimentary starter like chickpeas, dipping sauces, and bread. I highly recommend the fried pastry for appetizers. Only issue was the filet. I don't recommend it as it is not tender as you would expect for filet. But the sirloin steak oddly was more expensive and better. The best part with the chocolate cake with ice cream for dessert!

Yelp
Nice steakhouse is Leblon, Rio De Janeiro! Visitied this place few days out of Christmas and had their Picanha Supra Sumo with Guiseppe potatoes as a side. It was great! Portion size is: 300g. They serve you crackers and some butter, dips and small sides before you order your appetizers and main course which you can enjoy while drinking wine from a fairly good selection. The price is very reasonable to the value of the meal and service you get. Total for main course only plus wine was under Reais 150 which is pretty good (c.USD 42).

Yelp
This restaurant is so special. The food is delicious, fantastic, extremely good. The service is even better than the the food. They are attentive to all your needs. Congratulations

Yelp
Very nice wine cellar. Good atmosphere and good food quality. Price a little bit high for Rio

Yelp
Been to this restaurant several times as I travel to Brazil pretty often for work and every time I eat here I leave feeling completely satisfied. The service was great and the food DIVINE. I ordered the Picanha with mashed potatoes and they were both completely 'perfeito'. I ate with a group of 8 and everyone was delighted with their selections. The drinks were delicious, the food was superb and the dessert sublime. Would go back again and again.

Yelp
11.26.15 - Thanksgiving in the US - Staying in Copacabana and the hotel calls in a table of 1 for myself...they were really busy, but had a spot, because concierge gets credit...anyhow, walk in and have a table upstairs, in front of bar... Service - 5 Food - 5+ Alcohol - 5 Overall - 5 They bring bread and this carrot/cucumber sticks arrangement, with multiple spreads, to start off... I ordered the chicken hearts, as only Brazilian restaurants in US have these...These hearts were amazing...I finished the whole plate...for dinner, I have the Picanha Supra Sumo, which I asked and was suggested...the best steak I have ever had, not kidding....It was seared MR perfect. I didn't order any sides, but the maitre'd brought me a Brazilian side dish, which contained something like corn flour and julienned zucchini. I had a few glasses of wine and they opened the bottle for the first glass...a few of the places I ate in Rio did that, so I really appreciate that type of wine service...Brazilian red is fine, but it doesn't quite rise up to California Cabs...For dessert, a young lady suggested that I try this guava? fruit blend/pudding with coconut ice cream...not knowing what to expect, it was very good. This Brazilian meal was completely new to me and it was excellent... Leblon, as I have found, is the high-end area in the beach area, and this restaurant is classic and representative of Leblon...because the USD is so strong in Brazil, I had a 5 star meal for under 100USD. Probability would say that I come back to Rio, and go to Giuseppe, again.

Yelp
Nice meat. May be a little hard to find as the entrance is a bit discreet, even if it is on one of the main streets in Leblon. The space is quite large and pleasant.

Yelp
Tasty food however the appetizer is discreetly charged at R$22 per person. I did not like that.

Yelp
This is one of the best restaurants I have eaten in Rio. This is definitely a fancy high end steakhouse with a very relaxed atmosphere that avoids stuffiness. From entrance to exit, the service is top class and doesn't miss a beat. They also have an English menu and most of their staff can help if you can't speak Portugese. We started with the lobster mini pot as well as the calamari. Both were delicious and seasoned perfectly. The seafood was cooked with perfect technique, no rubbery texture to be found and full of flavor. We then had the porterhouse for 2 split for 3 people....such a massive steak wasn't a problem to share. On the side we got the zuccini farofa and mixed vegetables which were both perfect complements to the meat. The steak was prepared medium rare JUST RIGHT and was soft and buttery. The knife cut through it effortlessly and the steak was overall one of the best I've ever eaten. The wine list was just perfect as well and had a huge selection especially South American wines; we went with the Malbec 13 which was very well priced and a great complement to the meat. The dessert is what put this meal at 5 stars. The romeo and juliet which is guava paste with minas ice cream is sublime. Never have I tasted those flavors and in that combination; blew me away; especially with the warm paste texture and the ice cream mixing in your mouth....unreal. Also had the almond petite gateat with an extra scoop of ice cream...another masterpiece. The gateau has a very strong almond kick to it which mixes in with the ice cream to create its own unique flavor that rises and falls within your mouth. Some of the best dessert I've ever had. This restaurant is better than any of the other steakhouses I've had in town especially Porcao or the churrascarias. Definitely a must visit while in RJ.

Yelp
Ronan was an amazing server. Food was great, just make sure you get your beef cooked to order, ours was a bit rare.

Yelp
The ambience isn´t the best but the food is very good at this grill restaurant. You will find great cuts of meats (even american ones) at this traditional steak place. Be careful, the prices have become outrageous!
google avatar

Yelp
We just finished a delicious meal with friends at Guiseppe Grill. The steak was perfect. The wine list is very good and fairly priced. The service and atmosphere are both excellent.

Yelp
The best ever !! Mini Pots are amazing, Kilo of lobster outstanding !! 2nd time around 2 years later and still at the top of my list as a go to in "Leblon"/ Rio ...

Yelp
This is a trendy, upscale steakhouse for those tired of the all you can eat churrascarias. The sides offered are creative and well made. The cocktail list is inventive, and the extensive wine list is probably one of the best in the city. For dessert, I had the cheese ice cream with warm guava paste. Highly recommend.
