Google
I really love their Italian food, but one dish people don’t try is their stakes. I have to say that it was grilled to perfection and definitely can be compared to any fine steak house establishment out there… maybe even better. It’s a must to try dish!!! Updated: Even getting better…

Google
Definitely my go to spot for comfort food in the area. I made it a point to try something different every time I come in and haven't been disappointed yet. It's hard to pick between the carbonara and gnocchi in vodka sauce. Everything is always fresh and cooked perfectly. Top notch service to boot! Keep up the great work.

I was in Haymarket for my wife's surgery at UVA Health, and I decided to stop into Giuseppe's for lunch on a whim... very glad I did. The atmosphere of the place is cozy, the calzone was great, and my server Isaac was prompt and non-intrusive. Definitely a place I will go back to with family and friends.

Google
Giuseppe's is always buzzing with locals which is a great sign. The food is great and it's affordable. I especially like their pizza and fun cocktails. It's a great Haymarket staple.

Google
The food wasn't too expensive which was nice, and the restaurant was clean with a calm environment. The white pizza appetizer was alright, no nonsense, and was the best part of our meal. The bead sticks were plain, soft, and without olive oil or the sauce to dip it in, we would have left more of it uneaten. The pasta was fine, cooked well but not very flavorful. The sausage and chicken were cooked well, but again not too flavorful. The marinara sauce was thin and zesty... it left us wanting.

Google
Excellent service and friendly staff. My favorite dish here was the beef lasagna!!! I didn't care for the pepperoni & cheese pizza and found the sauce salty for my taste. The complementary bread could be better; it was dry and hard. The manager was very nice and open to feedback. Go for what they recommend and not the basic stuff like pizza. We will certainly return to try different dishes!

Google
The pizza was perfect! Great taste and texture! The minestrone soup was very salty and looked like there was very little care put into it. The calamari wasn't very good at all and the presentation was worse. The staff was kind and pleasant, however the wait times were unnecessary long for only 4 people in the restaurant. If you plan on going here, I would stick with the pizza

Google
Giuseppe’s has the best food in haymarket. You really have to earn that from me too. First off Isaac was a great server. He took great care of my mom daughter and I. My small family ate with appetizers, entrees, sodas (the sweet tea is A1) AND dessert. I’ve had lots of other places here locally and price, quality, and quantity was perfect. I’d highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a quick bite or a beautiful place for a nice family outing. Ps the cannoli’s are huge, rattlesnake pasta was great, cheese fries were on point, and overall I’ll 100% be coming back on a date night with wifey.

Yelp
I got a bruschetta ($12) and the fettuccine adriatico($20). Food came out in a decent time. 10 minutes for the appetizer and about another 15 mins for the entree. The pasta was cooked very well and the sauce was a great combination of Alfredo and tomato based sauce. I was very happy with the food! Staff were friendly and this restaurant had a nice local feel to it. Definitely would come back again! Food(50%): 7.8 Staff/service(25%): 7.5 Value(25%): 7.5 Overall: 7.6/10

Yelp
Ordered from this place via UberEats. Food was decent. Not the best I've ever had, but far from the worst. The food was good! I enjoyed it. But, I will say that you could tell it had been par-cooked and re-made / frozen, or just straight microwave reheated. One of the shells had hard spots on one side, indicating it was undercooked / overcooked, and there were spots that were significantly more hot than other spots. The bread was cold, despite being wrapped in foil - not sure if it was intended to be served hot, or if the foil was just for covering. The entire meal was off-put by the added bonus of the restaurant also not including any plastic-ware or napkins with the meal.

Yelp
Buffalo pizza was good but the service was slow. No one asked to refill our drinks. Still waiting on our check. I could walk out and no one would notice, but I'm too honest. We were part of a group upstairs but one server taking orders. I can't blame the server, this place needs more help.

Krystal S.

Yelp
My family and I have dined here on a few occasions because of the great atmosphere and quality of food, but were recently blown away by the hospitality & kindness shown using this venue for my sister's surprise engagement. From the courteousness and generosity of the owner, Sal, prior to the event to the excellent customer service and attentiveness shown for our large party by the manager & wait staff, this restaurant has customers in us for a lifetime! It was so refreshing to see how much they prioritized making sure we had a fantastic experience. Thank you for a delicious meal and a core memory we will get to cherish forever in our family!

Yelp
I really hate writing this review, however, this has to be said! We were a group of 12 people who have been going here for many years. All but one couple ordered entrees. After about 20 minutes we asked for bread and were told we would only be given 5 pieces and would have to pay for 5 more. It was not a joke!! The meals came and at best were lukewarm, red sauce was very thick and chicken tough. The food looked like it was thrown on the plate. Most of us left a lot on plate or took home to heat. All I can imagine is it is under new management. Won't be going back.

Yelp
I grew up going to Joes in high school. It was one of my family's favorites. So, when we came to town and found out there's a (not so) new location we couldn't wait to go. My new change is that I am now gluten free. So I was nervous to go. However I was offered a GF penne and I was able to eat the bolognese I enjoyed throughout my young adult life. I ordered a kids portion and still was not able to finish it. The rest of my group brought more than 1/2 of their plates home too. I am not a portion's equal quality person, but you will definitely not leave hungry. Our waiter was very nice. However, the team was running pretty hard with carry out orders and dine in guests. Ultimately, our order arrived accurate and piping hot. 30 yrs and many changes to the Haymarket area later, Joe's team still provided a taste of home.

Yelp
We were visiting and "babysitting" our grandchildren and they wanted Italian. Their parents recommended this place. Very good food and service. Also we thought it was a good value. Recommended!

Yelp
Good food, reasonable prices, good portion sizes. We had some pasta dishes and some combo dishes. Everything was well cooked and very hot from the kitchen. The parking lot is large, with a couple of accessible parking spaces for wheelchair access. They have a nice wheelchair ramp to get to the front porch with plenty of outdoor seating and the inside, which is a very large room with tables, easy to navigate a wheelchair in. Would definitely visit again.

Yelp
Close to home and always fun. The food is not always on point, but when it is....its good! Service is sometimes slow, but they make up for it with their kindness. Ambience is good. Sometimes they even have live music.

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended to me because a friend had a rehearsal dinner here about five years ago. I went to dinner with that friend and sadly the food quality and service was downhill. Food: The Mozzarella Squares, best food item we had. They were very crispy and cheesy. The cheese tortellini with alfredo sauce sadly tasted like hospital food. The two other entrees ordered were fettuccini alfredo with chicken and the Giuseppe's Mediterranean and were also not impressive. I do not like to waste food, but none of us could finish our entrees. I ordered a Tiramisu to go. I wish they would have warned me it was frozen to the core. I could not even stick a spoon in it after a 45 minute ride home. Very disappointing. Service: Our server, Abby, was very friendly and had good intentions. However, she had tables spread out across the entire dining room, so she did a lot of running around. We were left for long periods of time with no interaction. Ambiance: The restaurant did not match the concept or vibe of the website. The website gave me "family/homemade Italian food/cozy", the restaurant was very outdated and had no ambiance whatsoever. Sadly, I will not be returning to this restaurant.

Yelp
Disappointing. Was just there not even 10 minutes ago. Walked in and no one at the front desk. Waited a few minutes and another couple comes in behind us. Someone from the dinning room, who works there seats them and doesn't even acknowledge us. We waited a few more minutes and nothing. So we left. Things to improve on....greeting customers and seating them so they can have a pleasurable meal instead of leaving a poor review.

Yelp
Ate here on Valentine's Day 2025. Shown to our table immediately after checking in for our reservation. Waitstaff all in white shirt, black pants - very professional looking. Everyone we spoke with was friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. Served piping hot and with little wait. Very enjoyable meal - look forward to returning soon and often.

Yelp
The Food was good. I Enjoyed Karaoke with great sevrvice . People there welcomed US@ made us feel at home. The sound system was good compared to others. I will go back.

Yelp
Service was terrific, staff was friendly and quick. Unfortunately, the food was bad. We got the pizza, the crust and sauce was plain and flavorless, making the pizza taste like acidic tomato and way too much cheese. We also got the mozzarella squares which tasted like they were cooked in old/dirty oil. We couldn't finish them. Overall disappointing, love supporting small businesses but as someone who isn't picky this was just bad. Won't be coming back.

Yelp
Ordered out spaghetti this evening and was not impressed. First of all, $14 for a small portion of arguably the cheapest Italian meal to make was the first thing that comes to mind. Second, the meatballs were simply not good. Bad tasting. This is not the first time we have eaten here, but this was by far the worst meal we have gotten. Just be aware if you're planning to visit. Update: Based on a discussion with the owner, I went back today for some lasagna and was not disappointed. The portion size was good and the flavor was perfect. Definitely better than my last visit. Give it a try when in the area.

Yelp
The food was fine. The hostess was delightful. The waitress and waiter were very inattentive. My friend and I sat in the bar area. The waitress slapped menus on our table and quickly tended to the table of men beside us. She never once checked on us or asked us if we wanted anything else. The waiter did fill up our water when we waved him down. It is the first time ever that I could not leave a tip. The hostess was so sweet that I decided to tip her. I will not return.

Yelp
From the moment you walk in the door, guests are greeted promptly. They have two of the finest, Jarred and Christian. All staff is courteous, professional, and a true delight. Mackenzie is always cheerful in the bar area and extremely accommodating. Giuseppe's has excellent homemade pizza, and the fresh baked desserts are yummy! A great atmosphere! We have eaten in the bar area, formal dining area and Christian and Jarred went above and beyond to set up the T V for us to watch the college football game on the front porch. Fine young men, they could not have been more accommodating. Highly recommend for a date night, family outing, or just gathering with friends.

Edgar G.

Yelp
Came out to dinner with my family. We were seated in the normal dining area at first, waited for 15 min and not a single server came to our table. So we decided to move to the bar area where we were finally helped. Felt unwanted the whole time I was there. Food was on the lower end. I'm a local and had heard good things about this place but most likely will not be returning.

Yelp
I ate here tonight. I had bruschetta and rattlesnake pasta. For dessert a cannoli. Everything from the service to the food was totally awesome. Shout out to Adrian who just started and provided outstanding customer service! Everyone in my party had a great time. Highly recommend all the food I had.

Simone W.

Yelp
Marco is the best Good food The service is fast The ambiance of the lights is good And there are bouncy balls
google avatar

Tony D.

Yelp
Very disappointing meal. Steer clear of the overly chewy, undercooked calamari and tread carefully around the rattlesnake pasta. We still enjoy the pizza at this restaurant, but the other offerings leave something to be desired. Nice outdoor seating options, but the inside remains rather excessively lit. Nice wait staff as well, if a little inexperienced. Drive a little further for a better meal.

Yelp
Came here on Valentine's Day without a reservation. My coworker and I each had two different entrees. I had the Fettuccini Adriatic with shrimp and crab and a rosé sauce. The pasta was made fresh - I could tell by the way it was cut and the bite of the pasta. It was terrific! The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the crab was hidden in the sauce. The rosé which I was expecting be a bit creamier rather than overly tomato-esque was good, but a touch more of cream would make this decadent. Yes, the portion of pasta was smaller, but since it was fresh and therefore more filling than dried pasta, it was fine. I also had the mozzarella appetizer and that too was hand-breaded and the marinara sauce was perfect. Not too much oregano, not too sweet. My colleague had Linguini and clams, and you could tell that pasta was a dried/box pasta. The clams (in shell) were tender, and the sauce was light as it should be. I cannot wait to come back here. The service was phenomenal for being at a bar high top. Not sure why people complain about this place. If you get fresh pasta, your portion is going to be smaller. Just like purchasing fresh pasta at the market - you get 9 ounces instead of 16.

Rayna M.

Yelp
Our party of 4 came in on a Sunday evening with no reservation and were seated right away. Our waiter Andrew was prompt and patient when we asked for more time. Our entrees arrived quickly and were hot. He kept checking on us, bussing little plates and cups as we progressed through the meal. He was quiet, polite and present. You don't see that in many places. We enjoyed the Chicken Parm sandwich, Gniocchi with vodka sauce, Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo and Spaghetti and Meatballs. The most impressive part for me was the pre meal bread. Sounds odd but in a past life I was a baker and the bread tasted real. Crispy outer crust...soft, slightly chewy center...wafting of fresh yeast. Yum. We did not order appetizers or desserts. We would visit again!

Yelp
Excellent food and service!! Every time I have eaten in or received carry out, the food has always been delicious. Also excellent service, the servers are always friendly and welcoming, and the food arrives quickly!! Would definitely recommend!!

Yelp
We are still on our quest to find the best pizza in the Gainesville/Haymarket where our daughter lives. The next contender was Giuseppe's. My wife ended up calling them to place our carry out order not finding a way to do so online. The pizza wasn't ready at the time promised when we arrived but the wait was brief and no big deal. Our two pies were a Giuseppe special and a pepperoni. Prices were typical for NoVA and reasonable. Both pies were made with fresh ingredients and I especially liked the lack of a thin greasy layer I find from other pizzerias. Giuseppe's is in the running for us as our favorite pizza in the Haymarket area.

Yelp
Last night I came here for an anniversary dinner my partner and I were celebrating and wanted to surprise her. Now overall the experience was great and amazing but a lot of things last night were a little upsetting. I had called last Wednesday to ask some questions regarding what they did for anniversaries and to make a reservation. I don't remember the girl I spoke to unfortunately but she took my number down and said a manager will contact me for more info. Two days went by and I called back concerned I didn't get a phone call. Again I don't remember the man I spoke to but I believe he might have been a manager. I was telling him how I called and was expecting a call and that I had asked about anniversaries. Which it didn't seem like that information was written down previously and while I was feeling nervous regarding that, I felt after the call that everything would work out since I asked for a bottle of wine on the table and a slice of cake with anniversary added things, which he said he could accommodate. Now it brings us to last night we got there about 6:25 or so and the host took us to a table. Our reservation was at 6:30. There wasn't a bottle of wine on the table. I was upset but tried to disregard it since it wasn't a huge deal but I was upset considering I mentioned that was something I wanted and it was close to our anniversary. I ended up having to ask our server for a bottle of wine for us. The food was alright, and the drinks were decent. As time went on, again the next thing I was expecting was a slice of cake with something added for an anniversary since it was confirmed twice on the phone by two separate people that it could be done and that wasn't brought out. Now I understand these are little things and they aren't the worst but for an anniversary at a restaurant we had loved when we had our first date years years ago it doesn't seem like the same place compared to the first date. But to finish up, our server Luca was honestly amazing and was the reason why we enjoyed the night so much. She brought out a cake and put some cherries in the form of a heart for us which was so sweet and thoughtful and she's the biggest reason for the 3 stars. She really was the kindest and so easy to talk and joke with and made the night great when I was upset with it all to start. As this was all supposed to be a surprise for my partner. So shoutout to Luca! I just am not sure after this experience that we would be looking to comeback and celebrate future anniversaries considering last night's issues.

Yelp
This was about our fourth trip to Giuseppe's. We generally live their food... great italian comfort food, for sure! A couple negatives from this visit. 1. My daughter's fries were soggy (maybe a by-product of the fact that they are an italian restaurant?!?) 2. My wife's chicken parm sub was cold on the inside when she received it from the kitchen. 3. The restrooms can always be cleaner for me, but I felt their could use some updating as well. Crusty corners, caulking, etc. Also, not a fan of staring at myself in a mirror while standing at the urinal! Other than that, the regular positives that I noticed were... 1. The staff was on it. Got us seated fast, waited on us fast and the food came out fast... and the service was super professional and helpful. 2. Everything looked and smelled very clean... even as I peered into the kitchen on my restroom visit. 3. Decorated very festive and is a nice local hangout for the holidays! 4. For a group of 6, the food wasn't terribly priced. It was in the medium price range. 5. Now to the good food. Their breadsticks are phenomenal! Yum. I ate the fettucini Carbonara and it was amazing. Two others in my party had an alfredo dish and loved it. The sausage and pepper pasta was also enjoyed by one in our party. Well done. All in all, a pretty nice and casual/comfortable place to eat.

Ben B.

Yelp
Excellent pizza and service. I was a little nervous after reading these reviews, but ignored them and tried it out. Glad I did! The margarita pizza was excellent- nice chewy crust and great flavor. Reminded me of the pizzerias I used to go to as a kid growing up. I also enjoyed the gyros, but the fries were over cooked and a bit dry. All in all, a solid Italian entry in Haymarket!
google avatar

Robin T.

Yelp
I had the gnocchi ala vodka. It was delish. I also enjoyed a pineapple upside down martini but the best item was the slice of coconut cake I got to take home! It was to die for!

Yelp
Y'all....I have ordered food from here twice now...and let. Me. Tell. You! The two times that I have ordered from here, the food has been so delicious. The first time, I ordered the fettucini adriatico which is seafood based pasta (picture attached). It is was so good! The noodles were semi-thick, but cooked very well. I like well cooked thick noodles because the meal comes with a lot of sauce and who likes dry noodles lol. Additionally, the crabmeat and shrimp went really well with the noodles and sauce. I would definitely get this again. The second time I ordered, I ordered the seafood canelloni (picture attached). Now, I will be transparent with you...I was upset to see three stuffed pieces of pasta with a lot of sauce and I paid $19 for it. HOWEVER....do not get upset just yet. The three pieces are definitely filling as they are stuffed with seafood and the pasta is thick as well. It also comes with a breadstick. I prefer garlic bread of some sort, but it was alright. Oh how the meal was so tasty and the sauce was plentiful. I do wish both dishes were in smaller containers and not so much served in pizza boxes but they may do that to avoid the containers tipping over and the sauce and oil spilling out. Either way, it does not take away from the tastiness of the food! I'll be ordering again from here soon! They even have my name on file lol

J. W. S.

Yelp
Food was good but terribly understaffed and took 3 tries to get the simple iced tea correct. Felt bad for the server as she was very pleasant and trying very hard but she was only one person who had no help.

Alexa L.

Yelp
I wanted to love this place but this first experience was horrible. I'll start off by saying service was GREAT but the food......questionable. It was worse than freezer food. The chicken in all our dishes was rubbery and flavorless. Also, $14 for THIS calamari...also questionable. We truly wanted to like it but for the price, not worth it. Our server did let the manager know how we felt about the food and they took 20% off so that's appreciated but still concerning the quality of food.

Rob K.

Yelp
Very good food . We had great service while we were there . I think the ambiance was ok , slightly outdated but clean .
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
It was not what we expected. The desert was freezing cold and the coffee was not hot either. We thought it would be good but we were not impressed. I don't think we will be eating there anymore.
google avatar

Chris G.

Yelp
The spaghetti my son had was in a nice sauce and a good value. Their pizza is probably about a 4/10 though. Calamari was not spectacular but not terrible. Service was good and very friendly staff who greeted us immediately. Overall value I would say was expensive. $14 pizza was small and not good. For taste and portion the $14 calamari was probably evaluated about $2-$4 too high. I can't tel if this place wants to be an Italian Restaurant with a slight biker bar feel but if that's it they're doing it.
google avatar

Eritrea D.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere! We ate out on the outdoor porch on a rainy day and it was wonderful.
google avatar

Sandy W.

Yelp
I've been going here for 30+ years. ( started at old location in Gainesville). The steak and cheese sub is one of our favourites.
google avatar

Jacob G.

Yelp
ordered chicken fettuccine alfredo, chicken was bland with absolutely no seasoning. the sauce was also pretty bland and noodles were okay. another person in the party ordered spaghetti and meatballs and the meatballs were bland, sauce was gross. not sure if it was just a 1 off thing but i will not be coming back.
google avatar

N. S.

Yelp
I would recommend and I would return. My three star rating is based off of my experience of the night. This was my very first time at this restaurant. We came with a whole group of friends to celebrate a project that we had completed together. It was a really awesome time to get inside with all of these people. To make matters a little bit more complicated they also had a wedding party or some thing going on upstairs. All right now that I gave the set up here is the review... Service was stupid slow. We actually started making the joke that they had to be growing the wheat in the backyard To make the pasta and bread. We sat there for almost 45 minutes when Bred finally appeared and they decided to take our order. Now that was long enough but we hadn't even had drinks just to get a drink it was a solid 30 minutes between each round. Water was equal these difficult it was as though that they were splitting the molecules in the back. Now that was the bad... Let's get to the good the food was awesome! Not necessarily worth the wait but the food was good. And it's really the reason why I will return. I would recommend coming in on a day that maybe was not so busy.

Robert W.

Yelp
Olive Garden is better.... Chicken Alfredo was bland the chicken was freezer burned. Chicken parm wasn't good at all
google avatar

Bill T.

Yelp
Giuseppe's is my Go-To Italian restaurant in the area. I have been here at least 20 times and I have never had a bad meal or experience. The hostesses/host and wait staff are always friendly and welcoming. Bartenders are awesome! I cant get enough of their Arancini. It's amazing. I've had their veal parm and meatball subs many times, both are fantastic. I've eaten their ribeye a few times, always cooked at the requested temp. Best Gnocchi in VA! My Italian wife is a Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo snob. Giuseppe's hits it outta the park! Now, can we talk about their pizza? Fresh, homemade dough and sauce! Crust is crunchy on the outside, chewy in the middle. My mouth is drooling writing this review. Do yourself a favor and stop in. You wont regret it!
google avatar

Jack E.

Yelp
Best place ever, would recommend and I'd love the cheese pizza. Service is really nice. Ambiance is so silent.

Rick P.

Yelp
Food was greasy and bland. Not impressed. We all tried different dishes and neither couldn't finish their plates. And didn't take the rest home either.
google avatar

Sophie K.

Yelp
No. Just no. I heard so much hype about Giuseppe's Was super underwhelming. The Greek salad was old and the lettuce was brown. The chicken gyro meat tasted boiled. Fries looked like they had been sitting around for a long time and the wings looked as if they were purchased from 7-11. Drove home and there was no blue cheese or ranch for our wings and our buffalo pizza. No dressing Italian dressing for our brown old greek salad either. No just no. Never again.

Alexis H.

Yelp
Excellent food, good service Very nice outdoor seating with lights, outdoor seating is dog friendly
google avatar

Alexandra L.

Yelp
So my last review 10 years ago stated I wouldn't return. My group of friends were planning a trip here and I thought I'd give it another shot. Still 1 star. The service was fine but the food was questionable. The chicken sub and Greek salad were just picked at and weren't high quality. The pasta dishes were not seasoned well and I think people come here since the prices are lower. The ambiance also needs improvement. This just isn't even close to good Italian food - sorry Giuseppe's.
google avatar

Leslie N.

Yelp
Absolutely disgraceful. I would give it zero stars if possible. We waited for 1 hour and 20 minutes to get our main course. Actually, I never received my main course but my husband and son did get theirs. And the food was disgusting ...it was like boiled hospital food. No flavor, overcooked,, no garnish on the plate and just plain ugly. This restaurant should be ashamed and embarrassed to serve food like.
google avatar

Ed B.

Yelp
Went for dinner on a Sunday evening and the place was dead. I had the angle hair pasta with shrimp. The wife had the eggplant parmesan. The pasta was over cooked and it seems like they didn't drain the pasta due to the amount of water sitting in my plate. The eggplant looked like something that was frozen then cooked. Our server was great so we had that going for us. I really want this place to be good, but the few times I've been have been pretty disappointing.

Yelp
Food is delicious and fairly priced!!! Brooke and Kara are angels! I love the atmosphere and how "Cheersy" the feel is
