Yelp
In Coconut Grove in the vacant lot at the corner of Grand and Melinda street on Saturdays between 10 and 3 Glaser Farms holds a vegan farmer's market.
They have a broad assortment of organic dried beans, lentils, rice, grains, (popcorn!) fruits and vegetables. They carry organic powdered dulse, maca, various whole sugars, nutritional yeast, shredded unsweetened coconut, raw nut butters, cold pressed oils, and other crucial raw materials for vegan cooking. They also carry organic locally grown fresh greens almost year round (the spinach and baby greens are a staple in my home) as well as local organic avocado, mango, mamey (3 varieties!), bananas, monstera, strawberries, and other exotic tropical fruits as they come into season.
They do buy in conventional (as opposed to organic) veggies and fruits to round out the merchandise.
They also carry broad assortments of vegan (and gluten-free!) prepared raw vegan gluten-free salad wraps, pies, beverages and (my favorite) macadamia and cashew nut milk ice creams. If you like food (meat eater or not) and want a decadent healthy lunch, visit the farmer's market, have lunch, and bring home some goodies for dinner.
There is street parking and a lot by the CVS but you have to patronize one of the businesses in that lot before parking there. The market is very popular and will be crowded even if you get there early. Expect a wait to pay and pick up food items. The lot can be difficult to navigate with narrow aisles and uneven terrain when it's crowded (which is usually) so watch your step! There are no carts so be prepared to heft a basket - in my case it gets heavy fast. They accept cash and credit. Bags are supplied but bringing your own is appreciated. The staff are friendly but incredibly busy. Still, they'll find time to hack off the top of a Thai coconut for you and hand it to you with a straw. Many of the staff are also vegan and will readily offer restaurant and book recommendations.
