Great place lots of fun. I really enjoyed my time there and even though it's a smaller venue it felt more personal and one got to be a lot closer to the band playing. Most definitely a Young Person's environment but still had a blast!

Google
I plan Prom at the high school where I work and I've done this for many, MANY years. =) After Covid we had over 700 students want to come to our event. 2 days before our event, the venue we were supposed to be using, told us we could not come there with that number of guests. I was panicked. The team at GLC Live SAVED ME! They were amazing! We were able to switch our venue to them and we had an amazing night! We will continue to use this venue as long as they'll have us. The staff is extremely accommodating and friendly. They are easy to plan with and offer a lot of great suggestions. The night of our event the entire staff took care of issues before they were even brought to my attention. They helped with security, parking, caterers, music, decorations ... everything! We love GLC Live at 20 Monroe and would recommend them to anyone.

Google
For such a big venue, the stage is very visible from many places. Live streams of the stage are displayed above the bar areas so you never miss out on the action. A wonderfully modern venue with plenty of free city parking within walking distance

I've been here several times for concerts and love it. Bar staff are always extremely nice. When my ticket from my phone wasn't working at the last concert i went to, the woman scanning tickets immediately went to fix it. Security staff was very on top of it but didn't ruin the vibe (heavy rock concert).

Google
Great venue! Easily accessible. The staff were all very pleasant. The community it is in is great. I will definitely see another concert here!!

Saw Tyler Hubbard at GLC Live at 20 Monroe. What an amazing concert! This guy is the leader in country music for sure. I am not sure you can call it country anymore. It's more like Southern Rock, but man it'll get you singing and tapping your toes and you'll be in a better mood instantly! Check out Tyler Hubbard when you get a moment, his music will lift your spirits and your day.

We love hosting events at 20 Monroe Live in Grand Rapids, MI! It’s such a fun and unique venue but has so much built in that it’s great for events that are heavy on performances! It’s in a great spot downtown that’s centrally located and easily accessible!

Wow! I am blown away by the team that suppprted the creation of our event this year! This is a great venue to host a private event in Grand Rapids. Parking was easy, the lobby made for a great space for check ins and the bar was on point! The sound team was incredible to work alongside and ensured we understood the process every step of the way. We especially appreciated the support, guidance and communicatipm with Lindsay, who is a total all star!!!!! Thank you to ALL and see you next year!

Yelp
I've been to multiple shows here and the experience is pretty consistent. I prefer it for concerts over a lot of other venues in the area. The lines move quickly, there's plenty of bar space to keep lines down and I don't typically have to wait long for bathrooms. The stage and sound are good and it's a pretty intimate venue for performers. There are venues that I specifically avoid but 20 Monroe is not one of them. Despite the ownership changes they continue to book solid acts and be a fun venue.

Phil S.

Yelp
First off these guys here did a phenomenal job with crowd control and getting everyone in and out of the cold in a very timely manner , the line was wrapped around the block and it wasike it took no time at all to get in , the merch lineoved extremely fast forcas long as it was and the food and beverage lines almost no wait .....KUDOS to all the workers present for tonights Wallows show .....the venue was awesome the sound was superb and my son and I really enjoyed this show I couldn't get over how good they sounded and the sound crew was money today ....the crew here should be proud today ....if you ever get a chance to see a show here check it out seems like all seats in this venue are good we sat in 204 row E

Yelp
Ownership of this venue has changed, but it's still a good place for a show. I've been to several concerts since they first opened and the experience is decent. The lines tend to move pretty quickly, both to get through security and into the building as well as at any of the bars inside. I like that the stage is elevated enough to be able to see even from the back. There's an upper mezzanine with seats, as well as a VIP lounge area that includes a private bathroom, bar, and balcony, but the balcony is right next to the smoking balcony on the second level which wouldn't be my preference. Security is ever-present at this venue which I don't mind as they were respectful and not in your face. If you're having a good time but being safe, you're going to be just fine. The bathrooms are upstairs, which I still think is the worst, but they are spacious and I never had to stand in line for the restroom. They were pretty clean as well. I love that they serve snacks! They have bottomless popcorn, soft pretzels, candy, etc. They also have some N/A drink options. Overall I like this venue and look forward to seeing at least a couple shows here each year.

Justice N.

Yelp
The great things is they have convenient affordable parking and clean bathrooms. The staff who pointed out our seats were very friendly. The acoustics were spot on. The bar selection kind of sucked that night. I was told they normally have a full bar but they were just running premixed margaritas and less than great beer. The concert was awesome.

Kerry F.

Yelp
We have been to a few events here and they are fine. It's a relatively small venue which I appreciate. Even if you were seated in the upper mezzanine, you still have a relatively good view of the stage. What I don't appreciate is that they seem to nickel and dime you for everything here. Want to use the fast lane to get in early? that's an extra fee. Want to have access to the lounge? That's an extra fee. Want to use the special bathroom sorry that's an extra fee. Concessions are also absurdly expensive. At our last event, my husband got one beer that came with a shot of bottom shelf whiskey and it was $19. Also there seemed to be some staffing issues. It was supposed to start at 8 o'clock with the doors opening at 7:30 however we got there. We were told that the performer had pushed the start to 9 o'clock. However, once we were seated, it was clear the things were not running smoothly after the opening act introduced our performer, there was an uncomfortable pause before he ran out and said "sorry about that they literally just knocked on my door and told me I was up" there was no stage lighting, save for one tracking spotlight that nobody seemed to be manning because it did not follow our performer. Fortunately, he was a comedian and handled it all with humor. Between the horrible stage lighting, and no one manning the tracking spotlight it just seemed incredibly amateurish. I have been to high school performances that had a better stage crew. The biggest turn off for me, though was at the end of the night as we were filing out the staff was very rudely, directing people, almost aggressively herding everybody to get out of the building. Even those of us waiting for people that were using the restroom were told we had to wait for them outside. It was incredibly rude with no reason for need for the abrupt exit. For what we paid to attend this I do not at all feel like we got our moneys worth, but in the world of venues, you don't have a lot of choices. Overall, I give this venue a 2 1/2 stars but I'll round it up to three because they do get some fairly decent acts.

Erik R.

Yelp
The venue is very intimate and allows you to feel like part of the show. There are many beverage and food counters. Beer was pricey at 12.50 a can for Stella and cash is not accepted, however the service was fast and polite.

Sarah S.

Yelp
Went to a concert for the first time to see the Black Pumas. It's a great intimate venue. Similar to HOuse of Blues with the main floor being a standing room only section and seats in the upper level perimeter. We actually had seats and even though they were in the upper row, it was still a great view of the stage. Look forward to seeing more concerts.

Chrissy C.

Yelp
I saw The Front Bottoms here because they are worth flying from San Diego, CA for. This venue is newer and you can feel it. It's beautiful and has great sound quality. I did the VIP package and was blown away by our seats and the swanky lounge. Mariah, the sales coordinator, was amazingly helpful leading up to the show and the night of the show! She is so personable and attentive. I wish I lived closer because this is a wonderful venue.

Danielle F.

Yelp
Been here 3 times. Sound is good, venue is very smoothly run, quick to get inside with lots of security and efficient lines for entry drinks etc. It's mostly a large black box standing medium size venue. There is a balcony with a few rows of seating, which are built in, I haven't been up there. The drinks are really expensive. I also feel like the stage is not particularly high so it can be harder to see if you're shorter on the floor, but overall one of the best concert venues in Grand Rapids.

Tiffany W.

Yelp
20 Monroe is the newest concert venue in Grand Rapids supported by LiveNation. It is a great alternative for popular acts that can't quite fill an arena nor want to play at a place like Van Andel Arena or want to step it up a notch from The Intersection. My first time here was for the Hanson show. Yes, I know. They are my guilty pleasure and the 13-year-old inside of me can now die happy! We arrived just after open doors time and the line was wrapped all the way around the whole building and then some. I am glad I was able to get in with VIP access and skip waiting in line. The VIP access also gave us the ability to go into The Vanguard room which is a nice musically themed room with private bathroom, private bar, some lounge seating and a balcony outside. The only thing that was a bit odd compared to other venue is that when you walk upstairs for the mezzanine seating area the lady monitoring the area had to check your ticket every time you walked by her. I was confused at first and only thought she was there if you needed assistance with your seat and didn't realize there was a line, so I tried to walk by and was hold otherwise. Anyway, just never really experienced that before so it threw me a bit off. Other than that sitting upstairs was awesome. I am kind of beyond the days of standing on the floor next to everyone sweaty and trying to see. The seats upstairs are a good size and comfortable. The sound and lighting were great! Hanson rocked it!

Yelp
My experience here, TRULY, gets better and better EVERY time I come! I visited over the weekend for the "monster's ball" event for Halloween and had such a blast! This event definitely exceeded my expectations.. since there was SO much going on I'm just going to list it all off.. 1. Circus performers and a man literally dancing in a costume on stilts as soon as you walk in (I would break my neck.. I commend you sir") 2. VIP room on the top floor of the event with its own bar, music, and balcony 3. Serve yourself pizza buffet with different options that you didn't have to wait in line for! (a little dangerous but every man for himself! haha) 4. Décor and performers on stage the entire time complete with a dj.(I really liked this because if this event was out of your comfort zone, you still had something to watch if you didn't wanna mingle) 5. Awesome people in some of the coolest costumes I have seen dancing the night away! (Two friends dressed up one in all silver one in all gold and had signs on them that said "Au" & "Ag" shout out to you ladies! Clever!) 6. Access to the bob from the second floor This event showed the full potential of 20 Monroe Live, they pulled all the stops and even with the space being at capacity, it didn't feel cramped! My new favorite venue in grand rapids, hands down! :)

Yelp
I love this place. I really do. And I'm probably a little more qualified than most to review it. See, we've now attended 6 shows at 20 Monroe and have tickets for 3 more. First, the sound. Oh the sound. It is definitely the best place to see a show in GR if you like to hear your music. The house lights are pretty rad too. It's pretty incredible to see a local band play with a national act level light show. We've now had tickets in all parts of the venue. I've found that I prefer the lower mezz for seats. The floor has been interesting. We were up front for a show, which was awesome, but another show we found ourselves in the back and the stage seemed like it was low. It was hard to see. A couple of nights ago, however, we went again and watched the last couple of songs from the back and could see perfectly well. Did they raise the stage? I knocked a star off for this combined with what I will agree are insane drink prices. $20 for a 24oz beer is beyond the pale in my opinion. The upside to the insane drink prices is that there aren't a lot of people getting out of control drunk, so maybe it's a good thing? Overall though, I am so grateful that a venue drawing national acts has come to GR. My wallet isn't glad, but we've already had an incredible time this year and I look forward to many more shows.

Rick S.

Yelp
Not a bad place for a show....ticket prices can be outrageous though....$120 for Ted Nugent? Really? My girl and I seen Anthrax with Killswitch Engage here....supposedly the first metal concert for the arena. Seating was great...food was ok....burrito in a bag? We even had the chance to meet Anthrax after the show which was kick ass and sponsored by FYE music chain in Grand Rapids! But sound system, view of show and the concert acts and friendly staff is what will bring us back again!!

Beth C.

Yelp
I dig this venue. It's a really nice size, so you feel like there isn't a bad seat in the house. I am super short, so the person standing in front of me always blocks my view so my friends and I headed to the rear of the venue to dance at last night's Erasure show and have a better view of the band for vertically challenged folks like me. At a lot of venues, security likes to puff their chests out and say no you can't stand there, but that was not an issue whatsoever here. Sounds like most concerts here the floor is general admission standing, which my friend said also is a good fit for this venue because you can go to the side bars and grab a drink and still be able to see and hear the band the whole time. Lots of reviewers criticized the drink costs here. Prices are pretty much exactly the same as DTE, which is where I see most of my concerts so I've gotten accustomed to pre-gaming and only grabbing one drink at the concert itself. Like DTE, it's only a couple bucks extra to get a craft beer as opposed to a Bud Light, so that's always worth the splurge. We did have to laugh at the drink special of the evening, which was named after the band we were seeing but was the antithesis of anything we could imagine Andy and Vince wanting to drink ... A Bud Light and a shot for 15 bucks. No thanks Lines for the bathroom weren't bad, the bathroom was clean and well-stocked. Sound quality was also good, although that may come down to the band itself as opposed to the venue in particular. Erasure has been performing for 32 years, so they've got this stuff on lock. While parking close to the venue is generally expensive and involves fighting traffic in a parking ramp or paid lot, we parked about five or six blocks away and enjoyed the stroll there and had free parking on the street since we arrived after the meters stopped running.

Mike P.

Yelp
The best !!!! place to watch a favourite band. Great site lines, very intimate, clean, great acoustics. Just saw the Cult blow the roof off this place. We will be back.

Craig J.

Yelp
This venue is one of my absolute favorite venues. They constantly have top notch shows in town. I've seen Regina Spektor, Ben Folds, Jimmy Eat World, Colin Hay, and am getting ready to go see Marilyn Manson at this joint. The only thing I wish they would change is to put some restrooms on the first floor.... it's totally weird that the only restrooms are on the second floor... it seems like an afterthought at best. Oh and here's a secret... the Mezzanine is worth every penny.

Marcel G.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I came here for their New Years Eve celebration and paid $60 per ticket. Upon arrival we were greeted with complimentary champagne, which tasted like bottom shelf champagne, but hey it was free. This was just the beginning of the night - Booze - relatively cheap. Which was good, considering the venue is owned by Gilmore which is famous for its club "eve" inside the bob, that charges a heinous price for a shot of liquor diluted in water! Venue - extremely unimpressed with the decorations and the interior of the building itself. For the decorations they didn't really bother to dress the place up for one of the biggest bar nights of the year next to the day before Black Friday. Literally a bag of balloons suspended over your head and some white linen on stage. I figured with how much they're making that night in revenue they could of ran to party city for some more white cloth or something to festive the place up a bit more!? The interior of the venue literally looks like my middle school auditorium laced with canary yellow drapes. For as new as the building is I'm surprised at how dated it already looks.... yikes.. someone needs to fire their interior designer because they're stuck in the early 2000's... it may seem little, but to me that's such a turn off. If I'm paying money to come celebrate I want the place to look a little more upscale... Overall nothing about this event was more exciting than a overcrowded house party with no official dress code. One person is wearing a double breasted suit and bow tie, and someone next to him looks like they crawled out of the clearance section at Kohls... safe to say I'll opt for another venue next year to celebrate.

Kristi S.

Yelp
Last night seeing Daughtry was my first time being in this new venue. Everything from the check-in for VIP to the end (getting help to know which exit took us to food) was easy and staff was exceptional! This is an amazing place to see a show! Mallory on the event staff was super nice and helpful. There are numerous places to purchase beverages (which might seem pricey, but are comparable to any other venue or ball park) and some food options (pizza slices, brats, pretzels, pulled pork). One of my friends started feeling not so good, and a staff member helped her immediately! The security at the front was on top of any disturbance and kind to the rest of us trying to enjoy the show :) I would definitely recommend this venue to ANYONE and will be back in November!!

Seriously D.

Yelp
This is the most expensive place in town. $20 for a large beer is ridiculous. There is no parking close that isn't expensive. The lights are great though! The staff at 20 Monroe is a lot of new to the industry folks and customer service varies greatly from one person to another. So, If you don't mind spending over $100 a person to see a concert, no matter who's playing, then this spot is for you. There are much better venues in Michigan, with much lower costs to attend events. I can't help but feeling ripped off by Live Nation after seeing shows here.

A M.

Yelp
Honestly, this venue is just what Grand Rapids has needed in terms of entertainment. I've often found myself disappointed with only a few relevant big names coming through the Van Andel every year and only a few more moderately successful/better known artists coming through the Intersection. As a mid-sized venue, it brings in the best range of national artists across all genres that can be found in GR. I can't speak for the quality of the bar and drinks, but it's still new and clean inside because it's such a new venue. I didn't interact with the staff too much so I can't speak for them, but I really appreciate the entertainment this place has been bringing in.

Abbi R.

Yelp
Love this place! I first came here the first week they opened and saw Shinedown. I was there again last summer to see Tesla, and then again last night to see the Blugrass Bands. They have made some major improvements in the time they have been open. They get everyone in the door quickly and the staff is very polite and professional. Nice, clean place with comfortable seats! Drinks are a bit costly, but you expect that at a venue like this. I will be back! Bring some big names! The Bluegrass bands were not all that great, but some great shows coming!

Weston P.

Yelp
I do not quite understand the negative reviews here, so here is my objective opinion. Venue - I have heard it is modeled after a House of Blues, so it is designed for convenient access to bars and minimally obstructed viewership. The overall design is wonderful and their lighting and audio are also great. Security - Yeah, it exists. No, you cannot bring pocket knives or anything that could realistically be used as a weapon. Pat-downs, yes they perform them, get over it. It's a music venue that offers space for 2,600 people, so I am not turned off even the least bit by their level of security. Also, they have been very professional each time I have been to a show. Oh, and if you can't maintain yourself while drinking in the venue, there is a likely chance of being removed. In my mind, the security does a great job of what they are there to do, mitigate risk. Bars -There are multiple bars and they are always easy to access. The larger shows will obviously have more bar traffic, but each time I've gone, the wait has been less than expected. I will warn you however, the drinks are pricey. Seating - There is plenty of multi-level mezzanine seating and a standing bar area on the upper floor. There is also a ton of GA space on the main floor. Extra Perks - It is connected to the B.O.B. so you can cross over when your show at 20 Monroe is over, and you do not have to pay a cover to enter the B.O.B. Greatest venue, no. Great venue, yes.

Adam G.

Yelp
I revisited the venue and had a better experience. The Violet Femmes was a great show. The mezzanine were much better than the seats on the floor, however there were no floor seats at this show. The sounds was great from where I was seated. My only complaint was the drink prices. Just outrageous. $11 for a Founders beer, when I can get the same one for less $5 just up the road at Founders itself. After that I decided for a mixed drink. It had to have been the worst Manhattan I have ever had and the one I paid most for, $16, it was watery and bland. I'll go back, but I will be sure to get drinks before or after the show next time.

Breanna H.

Yelp
My partner and I planned a mini-vacation and drove from Ann Arbor and got a hotel room in Grand Rapids just to see one of our favorite bands play at this venue. As we finish getting our wristbands outside and try to enter the venue, a security guard randomly pulls my partner out of line and harasses him about being drunk and kept asking "are you okay?", but NOT in a nice way. The irony is that due to a medicinal condition, my partner cannot drink alcohol and we were both completely sober. Later when my partner got overheated (which can trigger his med condition) and took a break near the door, the same security guard tried to give him a hard time. The security guards were watching and even following us all night and neither of us had a drop to drink nor disturbed anything or anyone. Aside from the bullheaded security bros, this venue was great. The sounds, seating, and decor of the venue were fantastic and I would *maybe* make the drive back to see another show here but I do fear that it may not be worth the drive if we're threatened to be denied access by security again. TL;DR - Venue is great, but security guards are such bullies that it almost completely ruins the venue for me. Would not recommend driving to a show here from out of town as you may be denied entry based on the mood of security - even if you've done nothing wrong.

Kate R.

Yelp
The Good: * 20 Monroe Live is conveniently located in the heart of Grand Rapids. * You can access it through the 2nd floor of The BOB. * When the show is over you can drink at The BOB with NO cover charge! Score!! The Bad: * Absolutely no pocket knives! Not even the kind of pocket knife that you only use to open the mail! Beware - you either are advised to throw it away or walk it back to your vehicle. Security is not helpful nor are they friendly. * Now let me tell you about the seating -- if you are in the mezzanine section - be careful! If you had one to many (over priced) cocktails and your walking back to your seat -- you get the feeling that you could possibly fall over the people in front of you. No joke - since the row in front of you is so low. * As you've read in other Yelp reviews - the drinks are super over priced! * If you decide to wait at the 2nd floor entrance in The BOB - (which is better then waiting outside when it's snowing) it becomes super disorganized and super congested! * Ticket prices are just like the drink prices -- super over-priced!! Will I be back: That depends on who 20 Monroe Live can get to perform.

Susan V.

Yelp
20 Monroe live is a cool place to go in Grand Rapids with good acoustics. Go in the VIP line, they take anyone. We got right in with ID and we're not VIP. The security likes to shine flashlights everywhere. Impressive lineup of concerts. Grand Rapids needed 20 Monroe live!

Lindsey L.

Yelp
Won free premium tickets to a concert here last night. We showed up later so we didn't have to wait in line. The premium tickets allow you to enter their Lounge that has a private deck, bar and bathrooms. The service in the lounge was a little off-putting. The bartender hovered and didn't offer any suggestions. The seats were great and I would definitely recommend assigned seats.

Kisa A.

Yelp
Prince tribute band does it right at 20 Monroe live. Cozy venue $$$ drinks but if you drink before the concert it's ok you can see everything good where ever you sit. My advise is to get there early to get a good spot up front !!

Rick H.

Yelp
Great place and proud to have a venue like this in Grand Rapids. Went to the sold out Young The Giant show. Sound quality was great, the venue is spectacular and I spoke to the light manager for the band who said that this was one of the nicer venues he's been to. Things to keep in mind: * you may have to wait outside in line for a bit while they everyone gets through security. * reserved seating is upstairs and the view is great. * plenty of bar locations so getting a drink was quick and easy ($8 for a 16 oz beer, $12 for a 24 oz beer... Goose Island IPA). Not a bad seat in the house. Bottom line: the sound quality and light show were excellent!

Amy N.

Yelp
I went to see Miike Snow on June 23rd 2017. I had seen them earlier in the year in Detroit and they had a rockin' show so when they came to GR absolutely I wanted to see them again! The line outside moved quickly when the doors opened, very impressive! The inside is nice and spacious and I love how it is connected to the BOB! However, I feel the lights, and maybe it was just the show, could have been better. The crowd could have been dimmed more to put more emphasis on the bands lights they had. Overall, I will go back if a band I like comes in town.

Loren G.

Yelp
Great venue for the smaller concerts rolling through town. Standing general admission with seats above. I prefer general admission. Not a bad "seat" in the house. Drinks are pricey which is expected in a smaller venue trying to compete in a major market. The several times I have been here it has always been clean and the staff has been great!

Gerin M.

Yelp
They run you through security and go through your purse. They won't let you bring in a pocketknife, yet have no place for you to store it, and will not let you leave it at the ticket booth. They told me I could throw it away or walk it back to my car, which obviously there is no parking right there and you have to walk in. (What is this: a concert, a courtroom, a matter of national security?!) This is after waiting in line for a long time (explained by the thorough security checks). As if I'm going to walk back to my car, then back to the venue, then wait in that line again, and what--miss the show anyway? The sound sucks. It's either not set up or not run correctly. I have heard this opinion independently from the mouths of several musician friends. A beer there costs $12. TWELVE DOLLARS, that is insane. Including tips, it would cost me about $60 to have four beers! We asked if they had a place for my mother and her husband to sit because they are getting older and certainly not used to being out or awake that late, they said we could pay $40 extra dollars per person to "upgrade" their tickets. If you leave, you cannot get back in. At all. I did leave. I was ticked. Horrible experience. I would give it 2 stars because they do book good bands, but those bands coming to town does me no service, as I sincerely doubt I would ever go there again. You can tell they are just trying to make a ton of money and are not at all concerned with the experience of their customers.

Shawn C.

Yelp
Worst venue I have ever been to for a show! Seating is so tight on the floor, that you can't even shrug without hitting the person next to you. The only bathroom was up a double set of stairs. Bar and Concession staff we're rude/disinterested, and the bar lacked basic liquors/mixers, and prices were very high, even for this type of place ($16 for a very low end half pour of scotch). Will not EVER buy tickets for a show here.

Yelp
Not a bad seat in the house. The staff is wonderful. I've been to a couple of concerts here, and will definitely be going to see more. If someone you want to see is coming here, GO SEE THEM! Robin Trower is my next show. So looking forward to going.

Yelp
So I took my family down to see the pixies at 20 Monroe live not too long ago this wasn't the first time I was at this venue I have many nice things to say about it and a few constructive opinions as well first of all the good stuff What a great new venue Grand Rapids has it's a perfect size to fit between the intersection and the vanAndel and even DeVos Hall. 20 Monroe live has definitely in the past year brought in fabulous concerts for every genre taste, good job to you for that. I'm also happy to see that many concerts have a variety of age appropriate opportunities whether the 21 and up , 16 and up , or all ages. It's nice to have the opportunity to bring the family on occasion to a great concert I've listened to the pixies. Since the 80s and now my 13-year-old and 16-year-old had the opportunity to experience them as well. I also appreciate the fact that my 13- year-old daughter and I were able to to get right up front and I kind of mentioned to the people standing around us that it was her first concert like this and that she was only 13 and that I had a cane due to my handicap and for the most part people were very polite to us not to knock us over. Finally kudos goes to the fact that downtown Grand Rapids lost power A few hours before and were able to get the power returned before the show started and the show went on. Now for my two cents in regards to suggestions I wonder how many other people were like my husband and myself here we spent about $250 for this concert and we decided we wanted to have a few drinks but once we saw The cost of a beer at nine dollars each we said you lose 20 Monroe live we won't drink at all and will buy concert shirts instead maybe you should consider lowering the cost of your drinks just a little and we would've spent more of our money with you. Next probably should do something about your bathroom situation pretty hard to find any downstairs lucky I am handicapped there was a bathroom I was allowed to use. And as far as the night of the pixies concert there were so many people out front and the doors open late and it started raining and you could have possibly brainstormed a way to get these people that paid a lot of money for tickets into the venue a little more quickly so they wouldn't get soaking wet. AnyWay thanks for a great show i'm sure I'll be back.

Yelp
I saw concert here on Thursday night. The show itself was great with lighting and sound quality. However, the event staff I found to be extremely rude and nosy. Constantly barging into the general mission floor looking for people smoking pot. During this search for wrongdoers staff constantly kept trying to assert its dominance over the crowd and kept purposely bumping into me and my friends to trying to intimidate us. By no means was this a relaxing and enjoyable place to see a concert. Not to mention the drinks were nine dollars for a domestic cheap beer and $11 for anything other than that. I would never go see a concert here again for those reasons. The band I've seen multiple different venues and this is by far the worst one.

Yelp
This venue needs to work out the bugs BIG time! Stood out in the cold waiting to get in for over 30 minutes. Tickets said 7:30. Would have thought the doors would open before that and that the show would begin at 7:30. Doors didn't open until after 7:30. After standing out in the cold on the concrete sidewalk when we did get to go in it is a concrete floor you can stand on for the entire show. No thanks! Meanwhile I had tickets with Section row and individual seat numbers. What's that all about? Lousy venue seats and drinks were too expensive to stand on concrete.

Yelp
Simply not impressed. Needs much more seating, less bars (and I love to have some beers!), more ambiance, more than a single entrance (stood in line outside for an hour while the line slowly moved up), and lastly drop the concept of VIP anything....the VIP service would resemble everyday service at most other venues. Felt like this establishment is much more concerned on immediate Return on Investment vs. setting themselves up for long term success. Short-sighted in so many ways.

Yelp
Had a great time at this venue tonight! Staff was friendly. The bouncers were even cool. Thanks Robbie for showing us around!

Yelp
Great concert venue for intimate shows. Bathrooms are upstairs though, and troublesome to go up and down often if drinking a lot. We will attend more shows here for sure in the future. Drink prices were higher than normal though hence the 4 stars not 5. I was the DD and paying like $15 for a truly for the girlfriend and a ginger ale for me each time at the bar. Expensive night for a few pops.

Yelp
I have been to two shows at this venue so far. One concert and one comedy show. The tickets and drinks are a little pricey but I feel like that's true about most venues these days. But it's a great size, not too big and not too small. My favorite thing so far is the staff. From bartenders to ushers, etc, everyone has been extremely pleasant, courteous, and helpful. For the comedy show me and my boyfriend attended, we had purchased front row seats but we were all the way on the right of the stage where we were at a really weird angle. We asked one of the security guys if we could switch seats to the balcony area since it looked pretty empty. He radioed his manager who came to gets us and personally escorted us to awesome seats in the balcony area, front row, practically center! How cool is that??!! Thanks 20 Monroe! Keep up the good work!

Yelp
As an avid concert goer, I had one of the best experiences at 20 Monroe Live. From the start, long line moved quick, security was kind, thorough and quick, and as soon as we got in a man told us where everything was. The crowd was big but the air conditioning was felt and so nice during the whole show. Balcony was great, floor space was great, security on the barricade and in the crowd were nice and helped us out. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Was allowed to use VIP lounge for free, along with other parents, during boy band concert I was taking my teen to. Clean venue and helpful, pleasant staff made this a great event.

Yelp
Very disappointed in the employees at 20 Monroe Live! Very rude and inconsiderate! Overly zealous and intense. Good customer service is important!

Yelp
Stay away from 20 Monroe Live. I've been there twice. Both times, there have been terrible crowds. Security kicks out the wrong people when fights break out, and it's all-around a bad environment for a concert just because of the crowds.

Yelp
Great venue, but tonight, we were duped into being trapped. The Old School party featuring the Dan Band was supposedly starting at 8. If they had gone on at 9, that would've been cool. But we found out that they are starting around 10. There is no reentry, so we are stuck here buying bad, overpriced drinks watching music videos. Very sad. And deceptive. Bad move 20.

Yelp
Ok so we drove 2 hours and some change from Detroit to Grand Rapids to go check out Young The Giant at the new 20 Monroe Live venue in Downtown Grand Rapids..... The venue looked sweet from the outside right across from Van Andel Arena.... The line to get into the building was ridiculous seriously I have been to plenty of sold out shows even GNR at Ford Field and it was easier getting in.... Once inside all I can say is puke it looks like a old movie theatre with horrible gold colored cloth hanging on the walls! This venue has no character at all the main level is huge and flat one big box if you are a short person seriously buy a seat you will not be able to see anything!!! The worst is the ground you are standing on your feet and legs are going to kill you by the end of the show the ground is hard ass cement!!! The only good thing is upstairs they have stadium seating seriously that's the only good thing I can say about this money pit of a venue!! Drinks are way overpriced and to upgrade to a seat is ridiculous it was 40.00 per seat to upgrade!!! Maybe I'm just spoiled by all of Detroit awesome venues but seriously this venue 20 Monroe Live is one big cement box with god awful gold curtains hanging on the walls!!! I can not imagine going to a show with a pit and getting hit to that cement floor someone is going to get seriously hurt!!! Venue is a major disappointment wish we could have seen Young The Giant in Detroit at the Fillmore a venue with some character!!

Yelp
Doors open at 7pm for a concert, opening band starts at 8 pm. You better stand in line all day if you want to see the opener!! The line wrapped around the block almost all of the way back to Ottawa st. Stand in line on the hard concrete, then stand inside the venue on the hard concrete. Horrible design, uncomfortable, if you don't have seats don't plan on being able to see anything... Unless you are over six foot tall. The decor gives the vibe of being at a dollar movie theater in the 80's. Gold velour curtains and cheesy art work on the bar fronts. Bathrooms only on the second floor, no paper towel only hands dryers, but not automatic sinks or soap dispensers.
