The Manor House was just beautiful and so cozy and welcoming, everywhere from the lobby, dining area, and pub to our charming room. Incredible delicious dinner and breakfast with great service. The people working in the office where you check in and out were so pleasant and helpful with everything, and the adjacent gift shop is delightful! Every detail and need we might have as guests had been anticipated and already taken care of, and everyone who worked there was so sweet and cheerful. We felt such a sense of peace and relaxation during our stay, and it was a great romantic getaway for us. Best of all, my husband absolutely loved our time there and said it was my best Valentine surprise ever!

This was our first stay at Glen Laurel and we will definitely be back. The Muir was a perfectly cozy cottage and the food was absolutely top notch. Thank you for a fantastic stay. As this was our first time I sent a plethora of emails to the staff prior to our arrival, their response was always prompt, helpful and very polite. Kudos to Brenna and Amanda!

UPDATE: The owner immediately reached out upon reading that there was a pricing discrepancy and fixed everything. We stayed at the charming MacKay cottage. You walk in to Celtic music playing and themed surroundings. It was so relaxing to sit by the fire and watch the snow fall. The hot tub was also divine. They check it daily, which made me feel more comfortable about using it. It has awesome massaging jets and nice mood lighting. They do a great job at making it an experience. From the rose ice cube in my Drambuie during pub social to the chef talking with us at the end of our fine dining meal, you feel immersed and like a VIP. There were people there that were regulars (one couple was there for the 7th time!) as well as newcomers, like us. It's a very intimate setting, so you get excellent service from all staff. I highly recommend staying there, and look forward to exploring more of the grounds at our next visit! We had a pleasant stay but had a misleading package deal. When we went to check out, there was an additional $300 charge that wasn't a part of our original invoice. Had I known about this additional charge, we would have planned differently. I was very disappointed about it, because I did enjoy my stay.

We go to the Glenlaurel periodically either by ourselves or with friends. Like our past experiences, our December stay was very enjoyable. The accommodations were clean, comfortable and have that Scottish charm. The food was excellent, and all of the staff from the front desk to the wait staff to housekeeping were invariably pleasant and helpful. We would recommend the Glenlaurel to anyone looking for a quiet getaway. We will definitely be back!

Google
A beautiful place for a lovely getaway. We enjoyed the hiking trails and sitting by the fire pit to watch the sunset. Our room was very nice with our own private balcony. The 6 course dinner was amazing, with soft music playing in the background. The chef came out to chat with us at the end of our meal. She was interested in how we liked the food and what we were celebrating. A nice personal touch. Breakfast was great as well. We will definitely be coming back.

Hidden gem!!! My husband and I have visited Glen Laurel for many years, but since recently moving out-of-state, haven’t been back since 2018. We really enjoyed our latest trip along with the new updates. The MacLeod Cottage is set along the Highland Scott walking trail and private gorge on the estate. It’s one of our favorites. Nestled among the Hemlock’s you can enjoy an evening in the jacuzzi while star gazing. It’s a quiet, romantic, peaceful retreat when you want it, yet you may also enjoy fine dining, traditional Scottish golf, pickleball, spa services and a very accommodating staff. We were pleasantly surprised with the private dining experience at the lodge on our first night. The package we purchased included two dinners and a picnic lunch that we took with us during our day trip to the Hocking Hills parks. Breakfast is included and the scones are delicious. HIGHLY recommend!

It is simply magical. A Scottish resort in the middle of Ohio and Hocking Hills? Yes. Our second thanksgiving weekend and will continue to be an annual event. ||A cozy Croft with fireplace, private deck with hot tub, spacious and well appointed. Three course breakfast each morning is delicious. Complete with visit by the inn keeper. ||There is hiking and golf. Happy hour each evening in the pub. Fabulous drinks and you should enjoy the scotches they offer. ||Our favorite is antique shopping in nearby Logan and Lancaster. Plenty of food and drink choices. ||Visit the glass blowing gallery down the road. ||So much to do and simply relaxing is available as well. ||Highly recommend.

What a wonderful getaway in the heart of Hocking Hills. Everyone on staff took very good care of us. The room and buildings are meticulously maintained. Food and drinks did not disappoint. This was our second visit, and we are already planning on a return this summer.

Yelp
Came here over Thanksgiving and really enjoyed the seven course dinner. It's taken me a long time to write this review but thought I would let others know that this really is a special place for a different kind of Thanksgiving. We all really enjoyed ourselves. Nice decor, very friendly people. Met lots of "regulars" before dinner. Try Glenlaurel out. I'm sure you'll like it.

Yelp
This destination is incredible! We stayed in the Douglas Suite. The balcony, in-room jacuzzi and all other accommodations were incredible. For food, the six course dinner on Friday and the seven course dinner on Saturday were unbelievably good. We attended the social hour before both dinners and enjoyed the bagpipes on Saturday. The food and service rivals that of any Michelin starred restaurant we've visited. Each course was amazing, well thought out and elegantly plated. Chef Jean Michael and Chef Hannah did a great job in flavor, seasoning and course progression. My husband has a shellfish allergy and their ability to change the menu for him and make sure he was safe was a big plus. We golfed at the Scottish links (it was a rainy day but still fun!) and enjoyed the experience. We hope to hike the trails and see the gorge next time. Complimentary breakfast was yummy as well! We have already told many friends and family about this hidden gem in Hocking Hills. This was the perfect and romantic anniversary weekend for us. We cannot wait to return!

Yelp
We stayed here for the first time this weekend. We are already planning our next trip. It's only about an hour from Columbus but you feel as if you are in another world. The accommodations are immaculate and timeless. The restaurant transports you to Scotland. The Glenlaurel is my new favorite quick get away place.

Yelp
At first glance the pricing at this inn seemed a little excessive but having just completed our stay I can honestly say it was worth every cent. The room was somewhat small but was clean and had two windows and a balcony facing the woods with great views. I highly recommend scheduling the six course dinner. It set us back $180 (tip included) but every course was amazing. The view from the dining venue was enhanced by two deer grazing 50 feet away. Social hour before dinner was on a beautiful deck with a large selection of spirits. After dinner back to our private balcony for a bottle of wine and star gazing spotting several meteors. Even had complimentary battery charger for our EV. Every associate of the inn was friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Gorgeous, outdoors, incredible work or personal venue with impeccable menu that is simply sublime. Greatest work retreat I've ever been too.

Yelp
We stayed in the Elliot and went to social hour along with the 6 course meal the first night. Everything was absolutely perfect!! Wonderful getaway for our Anniversary

Yelp
A Christmas tradition to visit Glenlaurel for their Dickens Dinner in December. Always a magical experience. The winding, forested drive to the manor house is breathtaking in the snow. Luxurious lodgings with premium bedding, toiletries, robes, the full 5 star treatment. Attentive yet unobtrusive staff excel at making you feel like a welcomed family guest. The seven course dinner defies words. Tastes, presentation, service are all magnificent! A special experience that sets the wonder of the holidays each year!

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here for the first time New Years and left on the 3rd. We went for our 33rd Anniversary and I am so glad we did. Everyone there made our stay so nice, they make you feel like you are home. The breakfast is a three course breakfast and it is so good, then you have your six or seven course dinner that is phenomenal. The hot tub was great and the Gordon was wonderful. Usually I don't leave reviews but I had to leave one for Glenlaurel because this was a great place to getaway for a couple of days. We will be going back again.

Yelp
How do I do justice with a review of Glenlaurel?? I have been coming to Glenlaurel for over 17 years and have watched it lovingly grow. After traveling across the globe, it is easily in my top three choices of favorite escapes. You may be asking yourself why in a small town outside of Columbus, Ohio would be such a favorite when the world has so many unique places to offer. Let me try to tell you why. Glenlaurel (Adults only) is nestled close to many hiking trails in the Hocking Hills area of Ohio. If you are the outdoorsy type you will love walking the caves and trails close by (and a few trails on property). There are so many things to do that I cannot even mention them all but zip lining, antiquing, hiking, swimming are among the many things that could occupy your day OR you could sit in luxurious appointed cottage or crofter that you have been appointed at Glenlaurel. Glenlaurel is a Scottish Inn and set of cottages with the theme of Scotland around every corner. Each cottage bears the name of a Scottish Clan. When you arrive to your croft you will enter with Scottish music welcoming you to your home away from home. Each croft has a fireplace and hot tub. All hot tubs are surrounded by privacy fences and the place is so quiet it is a true joy just to sit and relax while enjoying nature. The crofts all have individual personalities and decor. I have stayed in almost all of them and while the MacKay is my favorite there is not one I do not enjoy. The Inn leaves shortbread cookies, teas, coffee and written notes to welcome you. The beds are comfortable and the cottages are impeccably clean! Many times, we never leave the cabin we just read a book and relax. However when you have to leave to eat, you need not go further than the inn for INCREDIBLE meals. I am not sure if they still use students who are training in the local culinary school but the food is top-notch. It can be a little intimidating if you have never eaten here so I am going to explain how it works. Breakfast: You walk into the main lodge and seat yourself. There is a main table that anyone can sit at for breakfast in front of a fireplace and several other small tables inside that overlook the woods. The breakfast is seat yourself. Each time you eat breakfast at Glenlaurel they have freshly made scones (today was Heath) they are serve yourself. Your server will come to your table with fresh coffee and homemade porridge. It is ridiculously delicious served with cream and brown sugar. At that point your server will tell you the chef's menu for the day (usually you will have two choices). Today's choice was Eggs Benedict and stuffed french toast. If you are not a coffee drinker (who are you??) the inn offers a wide variety of teas. If you are a guest of the inn, you can leave after you eat (make sure you leave a tip either at table or upon check-out). If you are not a guest, they will bring you a check. Dinner: Dinner tends to be a moe formal affair. Jeans are worn to dinner by some but most tend to wear dress pants and dresses/slacks for the ladies. Saturday evening is the most formal of the dinners in my opinion. The dinners will blow your mind! When you walk in, the Laird will welcome you to dinner (he will most likely be in a kilt and you may see other diners in kilts as well). He will let you know what dining room you are seated in for the evening. Your table will be marked with your name and a Scottish quote that also bears the evening's set dinner menu. (If you have any food allergies let them know in advance and they will prepare a special menu for you- (Mine is to shellfish and they make lovely accommodations). Social hour begins at 6 in the Loch Ness Pub. Once the Laird welcomes you and tells you your table, you turn left and go downstairs to attend the social hour which consists of cheese, crackers, biscuits and a full bar (drinks are not included). The social hour is not mandatory but it is fun. At 7 you will be called to dinner by bagpipes and the Laird will come to retrieve you for dinner. Once you are seated, the Laird will read you a small bit of poetry and then the evening of delicacies begin. Last night's menu consisted of 7 courses with each being better than the last. Here is last night's menu: -Wild Mushroom Tartlet -Sacchettini of Six Cheese tossed in Roasted Red Pepper Creama & Parmesan -Bisque of Sweet Potato & Butternut Squash with Cinnamon Creme Fraiche -Seasonal Greens topped with Peppered Strawberries Honey Chèvre & Sweet Onion Poppy Seed Vinaigrette -Sorbet of Wild Raspberry ( Pallet Cleanser) - Rack of Clover Fed New Zealand Lamb I could go on and on but you really need to discover it for yourself... truly a luxurious and incredible place to get away. I should add there is very little wifi, cell service or and no cable. This is what makes this place so special it is truly a place to disconnect and reconnect.

Yelp
Every year we travel south to beautiful Hocking Hills to visit Glen Laurel Scottish Inn for the Dickens Christmas Dinner December Sundays before Christmas they offer a French Chef curated six course meal with each dish matched to a passage of the classics A Christmas Carol read aloud before the course is served. Oysters with Gouda, Octopus Ceviche over winter greens, Roasted Poblano soup, Duck breast with Wild Rice Risotto, all out of this world flavors and decadence. The In. Itself is cozy and beautiful. A perfect getaway from the homiday rush. Have wine by your private fireplace, hike the beautiful Gorge Trail, enjoy time at the pub hour preceding dinner. An experience you will want to repeat year after year.

Yelp
Our first stay here and it didn't disappoint. If you're looking for a nice, quiet, relaxing place in the midst of nature, this is the place for you. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We loved all the small attention to detail, including a card under the bed with our names from housekeeping assuring us that they had already checked for the Boogeyman under our bed and we were good to go lol. We stayed in the MacDougal croft. It was very clean and surprisingly roomy. Our favorite part was the screened in back porch and the private area for the hot tub. The food? Amazing! There wasn't a single thing we ate that was not deliciously prepared. I love the dress code. Who doesn't like getting dressed up and fancy? My only criticism would be, there were a few things on the property that look like they could be refreshed. We did play the golf and felt the fee to play could be a little less. But we also played bocce ball and that was complimentary and surprisingly fun. The Camusfearna Gorge trail is beautiful. Well worth the hike and nice that you don't have to drive anywhere to enjoy it. We will definitely be back and hopefully a little longer!

Yelp
My wife decided to surprise me with a weekend trip here. I knew not where I was going until I turned on the street in the middle of Hocking Hills region and read the quaint little sign, Glenlaurel Inn and cottages. Things I learned once I knew where I am was that it is Scottish themed. She booked it five months out and we could only get a room in the main building that was where the restaurant was. I guess the cottages can fill up fast! Saying that, I loved the room we were in. It wasn't very noisy except for breakfast and dinner which was when we were at the restaurant or sitting on our back porch anyways. Another thing you need to know... and it is all over their website. You can not come to the social hour or dinner in everyday clothes. This is a suit/tie, dressy event that starts on their back patio which is pretty awesome. They make a good manhattan. I will note that there was a couple that simply vanished because they weren't dressed in the appropriate attire. Supposedly from reading a couple negative reviews you aren't kept from having a drink and eating. You just did that somewhere else and not with the main group. So if you are booking a stay here, bring some nice clothes along with your hiking clothes. And don't leave a bad review because you didn't know. It's all over the website. No exceptions. So my stay: this place is quiet, which is me. No children allowed. I have two sons so I'm not one of those anti-population people. And if you have an animal. That's a no-go too. Again on the website. The grounds are very pleasant. We walked back to the cottages and they look very nice. I will come back and stay in those but again, I am 100% happy with my room by the main deck. I'll take a picture of it from our rooms back porch so you have an idea of what I mean. Perfect place to read or write a nice review for Yelp. They have some games spread out throughout the grounds - Bocce ball, some golf holes, horse shoes, and a little polo type area that I don't know anything about. There are two main trails which take you through the forest which weren't too extreme. Easy walk, but there are some roots and pretty steep cliffs in the back trail. If your sure of foot you won't have any offers or need a walking stick. There were places to sit and little things to look at tucked away in different places, e.g trolls, ceramic squirrels, weird Blare Witch things which I admired. It's nature so there are bugs but I'm not getting bit by anything so we are copasetic. The tree bugs just make some noise. Loudest thing here really. The food is exceptional. We are here on a Friday and Saturday. For Friday we chose the filet (steak). There were approximately 6 courses I believe. Unfortunately I did not take any pictures... too much wine and laughs, sorry, but I'll be sure to take some pictures of the rack of lamb they are having tonight. The soup course was the winner for me. It was a bisque and although light, it packed a flavor punch. So in between the dinners they offered breakfast and a picnic lunch to take on a hike. The breakfast was nice with coffee and juice. There were scones, and a choice of either berry filled beignets or egg frittata. Both came with bacon. Very good breakfast that ended with some yogurt parfait. For the picnic basket there was a few sandwich options but we went for the chicken salad on a bed of salad. The chicken salad was really good with a hint of pesto. It came with cookies, apples, chips and a soda. We took it to the front of the property where there is a sunset swing bench and ate there. Serenity. Oh also, the inn keeper, Melissa. She was very warm and welcoming and made it a thing to stop and speak with everyone. She really wanted to know what we thought and you can tell that she cares. And she is lucky enough to have the only permanent residence on the property and I must say I envy her job. But it's the little things like seeing her walk around that sends an establishment from four stars to five for me. So what do I think overall. The room was comfortable. The setting is outstanding. It's quiet. They have great food and drinks. So come here. Relax. Don't worry that you have spotty cell coverage and no cable tv. That shouldn't be why you come here. Listen to the tree bugs. Take a walk. Sip some wine and eat a good meal. Sit in the jacuzzi bath. Hear the wind.

Neil R.

Yelp
No complaints about the room, but we came for the food. Dinner our first night was cancelled hours before, and Dinner the second night was cancelled in lieu of a hot boxed meal to eat in our room. The quality was so far from the expectations our past visits set it was extremely dissapointing. (This was our third year) They are better off coming out and announcing that dinner service is cancelled until further notice due to covid. Bring back Chef JM and the rest of your senior staff.

Yelp
This year, it was my turn to plan our anniversary trip, since X planned our first anniversary. I did some research, which led me to Glenlaurel: A Scottish Inn & Cottage. They offer a variety of accommodations - two houses (Carriage House and Manor House) with guest rooms and suites, several crofts (a smaller version of a cottage), and six cottages. We opted to stay in their Manor House, in the MacGregor Room. When we arrived to our room, the fireplace was on and soft Scottish music was playing. The room was so cute and homey. The MacGregor Room features an in-room whirlpool tub for two, a gas log fireplace, and private balcony. Each room also comes with a coffee machine, a fridge, microwave, cutlery, bottles of water, and Scottish shortbread. And lastly, each room also comes with L'Occitane bath products. Anyone who knows me knows I'm an exclusive L'Occitane user! Each morning, a three course breakfast is served, and is included with your room price. You start off with a freshly baked scone, Scottish-style porridge, and the Chef's entrée. For dinner, you can take part in their 5 course (6 courses for Saturdays) dinner. We opted to do both nights in the dining room and we were truly treated to two amazing meals. Glenlaurel is the spot to go to for your anniversary. Join their Anniversary Club and receive 5% off on your first stay for one night. They also give you a handcrafted keepsake plate with Glenlaurel's design for the year. Look at this cute Scottie dog plate we received!

Rachel A.

Yelp
Just completed our third visit and the fourth is already booked. This place is highly addicting; the staff are second to none and the resident chef, JM, produces some of the most exquisite food around. The crofts and cottages are wonderful and each comes with its own private hottub in enclosed private decks. Each night between 6 and 7, social hour at the Pub is pleasure to behold, and open to residents even if they're not partaking in the delicious 6 course (7 on a Saturday) extravaganza. The best thing about this place are the restrictions: no kids, no pets and no smoking. That makes walking around the place entirely pleasurable. Even the housekeeping staff puts on a huge amount of effort to ensure your stay here goes as smooth as possible. This place is not cheap however, but it is worth it.

Josh F.

Yelp
The second we arrived at the Glen Laurel, we felt as if we were transported to Scotland. It's the perfect getaway to escape the dreary winter weather, with enough amenities to keep you warm all winter long. We especially enjoyed the dining room and the cozy whirlpool tub. Tristan was an especially good chef who came out to greet us after a romantic dinner. If your looking for a cozy and romantic winter weekend getaway, than the Glen Laurel had everything you desire.

Beth E.

Yelp
My husband surprised me with a stay for our anniversary on a Sunday night. We have stayed at numerous 5 star resorts, so when I saw the price of the rooms, I had high expectations. Check in was easy, and we were given directions to our cottage. The cottage was very cute, with plenty of room, a see thru fireplace and a hot tub outside. The room was clean and we loved the Scottish music playing. We went over to the main lodge for drinks a little after 6. Prices were reasonable at $10 for a martini, although neither of us was fond of the way they were prepared. It's not really a social gathering as I expected, but there is interaction with the owners. At 7:00 they call everyone to be seated at the table where there name is displayed. We were seated at a table right outside the kitchen door, so that was not enjoyable. There was no music playing, and when I asked, the server tried, but couldn't get it to work. Everyone was talking in whispers and overall it felt uncomfortable. Dinner was extremely good. We started with an appetizer, then soup, a salad and then duck for the entree. A nice dessert followed, along with a visit from the chef. The next morning we had breakfast, where again the food was great. The grounds are beautiful, with nice hiking trails in the woods. We would have liked to play a round of Scottish golf, but weather wasn't great for us. Now, the biggest downside for me....the staff. The staff clearly hasn't been trained for an establishment of this type. When you pay big prices you expect top notch treatment. The staff here is of the caliber of a fast food chain. I wanted to LOVE it here, but I only just like it.

Yelp
We chose to have a very low key babymoon & really wanted to hike and enjoy nature during the springtime. We went with Glenlaurel for lodging as it was a convenient spot between hocking hills & Logan (for dinning, golfing etc). I also liked that they had spa services available. Please note, we did not join any of the social hours or make dinner reservations. PROS: -Enchanted place with a cute Scottish theme. Very easy trails on property for nature walks etc. -Breakfast is included in your reservation. It was excellent. They had a set menu each morning. -Landscape & property is well managed -Rooms very clean CONS: -Due to rain/they were waiting for the ground to dry, Scottish golf course wasn't open on the property. Definitely a bummer considering it's unique & something worth trying! -Spa services weren't worth the value. The company & massage therapist that worked on me was excellent but all services were done in your room & it just wasn't a 5 star experience I was expecting. The products used for my facial could have been purchased from a local drug store/amazon. The massage was fantastic & exactly what I wanted, however!! -The Scottish music that plays on the grounds/on the outside patio can be over powering. Helpful hints: -Remember your gratuity for breakfast & housekeeping is included on your final bill. -You can bring your own beer/alcohol & drink it in your room.

BJ M.

Yelp
This inn is overpriced . During the pandemic there were no printed notices in the rooms about the covid measures.Unless there are written notices for the customers then how will they know if the CDC measures are heeded. There are some wonderful inns near in Tennessee that are half the price with superior accommodation and amazing food

Kathy K.

Yelp
This was our second stay here. We stayed in the MacIntosh cottage and loved it! Being here in December, we really enjoyed both fireplaces. Sitting in the private hot tub after hiking in the hills felt fabulous! Afternoon naps on the very comfortable king bed was heavenly. The crown jewel of Glen Laurel is the very talented and entertaining French chef, Jean Michael. Having now visited in both the summer and winter months, I can safely say that a visit here is very enjoyable in both seasons. We look forward to our next getaway!

Yelp
It is hard to believe that another world is tucked away in the Hocking Hills, but it is the truth. The Glen Laurel is the favorite getaway for my wife and I these past 10 years. After several stays, countless dinners, and priceless memories, the Glen Laurel remains a treasured part of our life away from it all. It is the attention to detail and dedication to seclusion that creates the Glen Laurel's charm. It is evident from the moment that you enter the grounds that the estate is committed to transporting you. While the staff has turned over a number of times in the past decade, including chefs, servers, managers and innkeepers, the atmosphere has always remained consistent. There is a special charm on the grounds that can only be attributed to the architecture, employees, and natural surrounds. After spending nearly 40 nights on the property and dining close to 20 times (maybe more?), we consider our experiences at the Glen Laurel as one large part of our lives. I would urge any reader to consider the Glen Laurel as a retreat to frequent in order to build memories, not just a one off to see if the food is up to snuff or if the lodgings are appealing. The Glen Laurel is meant to be a place of escape - enjoy it as such!

Brian B.

Yelp
We reserve two nights for our 20th wedding anniversary. Upon check-in, it is obvious this place has a strong attention to detail. From the personalized cards/notes in our room to the kind words from one of the owners to the chat with the master chef, we felt personally welcome. Our first evening we took advantage of a couples massage and then went to the social hour. Following that, we attended a six course dinner. Everything was perfect. Next morning we treated ourselves to their breakfast. There was so much food. It was good to hike on the ground to see the gorge and enjoy the peace and beauty. The grounds were peacefully awesome from the manor house to the village of cottages in the woods. We would recommend this place as a weekend getaway to relax.

Yelp
Shady. Shifty. Disappointing. (Stink, stank, stunk). IF you're looking for a getaway in Hocking Hills that sits on a large parcel of private land, complete with a river, gorges and waterfalls, this checks the box. IF you're thinking that $400 a night (which is what we paid for the premium cottage lodging) will include much else from how they describe this place, however, you're going to be left feeling a bit hollow. The service is anything but premium. We stayed for 3 nights and couldn't once get ahold of the front desk (if you check in past 6:30pm, they've left for the day). Our in-room amenities - those "l'occitane soaps" - were never replenished or replaced, so we had to ration the travel size containers. You'll have to pay a deposit (one full night) to book the room, but only a day or two before your arrival is when they'll reach out to inform you of the discrepancies between their description and reality... should you wish to cancel, you're still on the hook for that first night. What discrepancies are there, you might ask? Well, from our experience... 1. THERE IS NO DINING ON SUNDAY OR MONDAY. That's right: despite what the website says, there's actually no dinner service for two days of the week. You can get Jimbos or "Hungry Buffalo" if you drive ~20 min into town for local options, but the chef takes those days off, and the resort doesn't have a stand in. 2. IT'S NOT A KING SIZE BED, IT'S TWO TWIN BEDS SHOVED TOGETHER. Boy oh boy were we ever surprised to discover, on our first night, that there was a deep channel running down the middle of our "king" mattress. Turns out, they just shoved two twin mattresses together, which would slowly move farther and farther apart throughout the night. I'm sure some couples might love the idea of sleeping in separate beds, but this was definitely not what we had in mind for a romantic getaway. 3. IF YOUR HOT TUB OR ANYTHING ELSE IS BROKEN... OH WELL! We travelled here for a 40th birthday, and booked the room months in advance. They told us ~literally~ a day before we left that the hot tub didn't work because it was leaking, and they didn't have any other room options. They also said they'd hate for us to cancel the reservation, but if we did, they'd have to charge for a full night stay anyways. 4. ALL THE COMMENTS ABOUT FIRST CLASS SERVICE ARE...HUH??! We both worked in the service industry years ago and have never forgotten the importance of treating people with respect and empathy. And, since then, we've been fortunate enough to travel extensively and experience truly top-notch accommodations. Point being, we understand what it takes to do this job, but we also know where the bar is set. Glenlaurel misses that bar by a significant and underwhelming amount. For such a relatively small guest count, there was nothing at all that felt like it had been personalized or that staff had done anything more than what would be expected from a much larger (and less expensive) lodging; I've stayed in airport Marriotts that did more for the guest experience than this. It's plausible that, at some point earlier in its brief history, Glenlaurel delivered on the promises its website still makes. Today, however, don't believe a word of it before booking. The pictures are misleading at best (the links...HA!!! You'll just have to see for yourself), and completely false at worse (what they show as "Private Hiking Trails and Gorge" is actually a picture of Ash Cave, which is neither private nor part of the Glenlaurel estate). Lots of potential at this place, but you'll be disappointed if you believe they can deliver on even a fraction of what they claim to offer.

Yelp
Surprised my husband with a getaway trip to Hocking Hills for his birthday. I wanted it to be special and choosing to stay at Glenlaurel was definitely the best choice!! We stayed in the MacDougal Croft and it was absolutely perfect. We enjoyed the hiking trails they have. The best part of the stay was the Social Hour in the Pub followed by a Six-Course Dinner. Every single course was delicious and we loved meeting the Chef! It was a peaceful and relaxing stay. We enjoyed the hot tub after dinner and listening to the rain storm in the screened porch. Really enjoyed the Scottish music they had playing in our cabin when we first walked in and the cute lanterns to walk around the grounds at dark! Only issue was with breakfast. This was our first time staying here so it would have been nice to be told when we sat down to get our own scones. Which I guess is a signal for them to give your porridge followed by asking you what you want for breakfast. Our server seemed annoyed when asked why we hadn't gotten a scone yet & I said we didn't know how it worked since it was our first stay. We ordered Bloody Mary's and it took 25 minutes to get it and by the time it came out it was warm with no ice. She kept saying it would be on its way but 25 minutes later drinks came and looked like it was sitting out for a while before given to us. I was looking forward to breakfast but would skip it next time or do the breakfast in our room for the extra fee. The ladies who check you in and out could be a tad bit nicer!! Especially for what you pay to stay here. We will definitely be back! Such a beautiful place!

Yelp
Stayed here for our anniversary. Absolutely magical! It was so cool spending the days with outdoor adventures in hocking hills and then spending the evenings in this romantic getaway. Hiking boots and shorts by day, suit and tie by night. Loved our cabin and the 6 course dinner was flawlessly exquisite! Live bagpipe music, flowers and chocolates, lots of thoughtful touches. Beautiful, clean, well-maintained cabins with lovely Scottish charm. A must-experience trip, cannot recommend highly enough!

Yelp
Debbie, your solution is to offer a free meal in the dining room of JM and offer no refund of the Valentine's meal that was ruined because of his heartlessness? I would never set foot in a dining room under the care of JM and I will certainly make that known to other prospective patrons. Truly sad that you would sacrifice two loyal patrons over a heartless chef. I Wonder why the guy in this picture was allowed to wear jeans in the dining room? Not to mention that I fell and injured myself on your property!!!!

Yelp
I wrote a review explaining that the bed was 2 twin beds pushed together with a king sheet over it, and that the hot tub was broken-- among other things. they responded & said that had WE told THEM about our issues they would have fixed them-- in reality THEIR staff is who told US that the hot tub was broken & they did not offer to compensate us for that. i don't understand how they would have resolved the bed issue if we brought it to their attention. They have to be aware it is two twin beds on a king frame. I doubt they would have replaced the bed during our two night stay. they also responded to our review and said for us to contact them to be compensated for our issues. since then we have called twice and left messages but they never responded.

Yelp
When we're looking for somewhere to just get away from it all for a few days, Glenlaurel is definitely my first choice. A Scottish-themed bed and breakfast well located in the Hocking Hills, Glenlaurel is just a wonderful place to escape, and the experience is geared toward a romantic retreat for couples. As a part of this atmosphere though, children under 16 and pets are not allowed. If you're looking for a place for the whole family to stay in the Hills, look elsewhere. But if you're looking for a place to get AWAY from the kids (your own or just kids in general), this is definitely the place. The lodgings are great - from the smaller, less expensive rooms and suites, to the cozy crofts, to the larger cottages, each has it's own slightly different theme (all named after a Scottish family line). When first entering your room, you'll find things have been prepared for your check-in, including leaving a CD player on loop with some great relaxing celtic music to set the mood right away. Dinners at Glenlaurel are expensive, but lavish. 5 course meals most nights, with 7 course meals on Saturdays. Given the small staff, the menu is mostly set, but vegetarian options are available, and a chicken dish alternative is usually offered as well. The breakfasts aren't quite as lavish, but are still well prepared and very good. If you want to get out, but don't want to drive off the grounds, Glenlaurel has it's own trail through the hills, the Camusfearna Gorge. A short but scenic trail which includes a couple well-placed benches to stop and rest out in the woods. And if you DO want to drive, Glenlaurel is close by all the more popular trails in the area, including Old Mans Cave, Cedar Falls, Ash Cave, etc.

Yelp
Just completed a 2 night stay in the Mactavish cottage. Beautiful cottage with lots of extra touches (personalized notes, etc). The 7 course lamb dinner was fantastic and we really enjoyed the social hour in the Lock Ness Pub.

Yelp
Our first stay at Glenlaurel and may return. We loved the quiet, peaceful atmosphere and grounds. We called for a late check in on Friday and everything was perfect upon our arrival (including the soft music playing). We ate the 7 course dinner Saturday evening and it was very good, a nice variety of flavors (favorite part was the creme brûlée). The pub social hour was nice, but $10 for a drink seemed a bit steep. Sunday morning breakfast was fantastic! First time trying gooseberries!! We walked the grounds, down to the gorge and it was a great hike. Housekeeping did a nice job, but didn't empty our full garbage can at all. Overall, we really enjoyed our stayed, but it is a bit pricey. Next trip we would like to try the cottages or croft.

Yelp
We've been staying at Glenlaurel for over 15 years. Up until 2-3 years ago I would've given 5 out of 5 stars. Ever since their office manager Sharon has retired it has spiraled downhill. The office staff is 100% incompetent. They cannot get anything right. We even reached out to the innkeeper twice and he/she has never responded. The staff is rude, blame others when things fall they the cracks, never respond etc. It breaks our hearts but until there is new ownership we will not return.

Yelp
After a hectic half day at work my wife and I start our two hour drive to Glenlaurel, looking forward to a great relaxing weekend for our anniversary. On arrival we realize that we forgot our bag that contained dress pants for dinner. I explained this to the kind lady at the front desk and she said not to worry, she would call the chef. She explained the situation, asked the chef if it would be ok if we wore a dress shirt, dress shoes and jeans to dinner and his response was "Absolutely Not!". The receptionist and I were appalled by his response. Needless to say, I wasn't very happy considering I paid over 300.00 for 2 dinners and an anniversary package that include two roses and two pieces of chocolate. Take a look at how we received the chocolate. They deliver this type of service but worries about jeans in their restaurant... After leaving the office I received a call from the manager. She had spoken to the Chef and their resolution was that we could wear jeans but could not sit with the other guest and that we could only have dinner under these circumstance on Friday night, not Saturday. The chef recommended that we take our time to drive 1.5 hours to get dress pants at Walmart if we would like to dine with them on Saturday evening. This just added more insult, I had never been so chastised in my life or ever felt more punished for not having clothes up to someone else's standards. I also asked if we could have dinner in our room, since Glenlaurel offers it, but was told it was too late, even though dinner wasn't served for 3 hours later.. I would never consider going back to Glenlaurel because some of the staff, especially the chef, seem to think the guest work for them and under their conditions and not the other way around. In all, it was a horrible experience and if you're reading this, consider going elsewhere!!!

Yelp
Our son flew in from Denver and he wanted to enjoy fine dining and lodging with us, his parents. We opted for Glen Laurel. Very, very disappointed. Carpeting dirty and stained in both our crofts. Furniture was worn and very dated. The bathroom was still in the 1970's and unattractive. No fireplace use d/t "management was trying to save money"!! The breakfast and waiting staff were wonderful. Dinner was not, very 'sandy' oysters, and tough meat. Because there was 3 of us, we were not allowed to dine with the other guests!! Only couples were allowed in dining room. We were so disgusted by the time we left, and the less then 20 hour stay cost us $800 for 2 crofts and 2 poor dinners and 2 good breakfasts. We would not recommend this place to anyone. There is so much more I could negate about this place, but I will end it here.

Yelp
The best part about our stay was the location in terms of its' proximity to hiking and nature trails. We stayed in the main house. I liked the theme of the inn but there were many things I did not care for about this place. I thought the breakfast was not very tasty and there was always a wait to sit down (we stayed here pre-Covid). Also, our room ended up being somewhat near the kitchen so the noise of the food prep as well as the room smelling of food, were not appealing. The most off-putting part of our stay was seeing all the somewhat strongly worded/boarding on impolite notices and rules in the room. They are not very welcoming. Despite our following of their housekeeping service rules/policies, our room was not cleaned. When I called the front desk for towels, etc. after returning from a long day of hiking, I was treated as though the issue was my fault which I did not appreciate. The gentleman I spoke with who also finally brought towels to the room made me feel like I was some sort of a problem and his tone was one of disapproval towards me. He was certain that I did not have the housekeeping sign out on time and that is why the room was not cleaned. He was mistaken. I have no plans on returning.

Yelp
(I am a local!!) JM has never served me a single course that I didn't obsess over. I am even having him cater our wedding!! All of the servers are very attentive and professional. Any special accommodations, they make it happen!!!! Definitely recommend for any special occasion :) From my perspective, the FOOD is the main attraction here. The location of Glen is very quiet and rejuvenating. However, if you choose to stay closer to Old Man's Cave, make sure to reserve dinner here!!!! The caves are about a 20 minute drive from here

Yelp
Enchanting. This romantic get away spot is just a wonderful way to reconnect with a loved one. They have wonderful yoga instruction and a chef that cooks both breakfast and a 6 course dinner for you. It is a dry county; but, you can bring your own wine or alcoholic beverages with you. Mainly, it is a wonderful way to get a way and reconnect with nature and your best friend.

Yelp
We recently stayed in a Croft at Glenlaurel. I have been wanting to spend a weekend there for years. It was everything I had hoped for. Beautiful property! Cozy and clean Croft! One of the nicest hikes I have ever been on...absolutely gorgeous! Exceptional staff and delicious food. The only reason I am giving them 4 out of 5 stars is because their communication skills/ability needs a lot of improvement. Both before we arrived and after our visit, we have had nothing but problems communicating with them regarding our stay. This resulted in us receiving dinner on the wrong night. They asked us to save it for the next night, and they would give us a discount on meals. Not a problem since my husband and I both ordered dinner salads. When we arrived back home - we noticed there was no discount applied. Plus we think we may have left our BOSE wireless speaker in the room. I have tried to contact them several times regarding both the discount and if they found our BOSE. No reply. It's been several weeks now. Other than the communication issues (which I am giving them the benefit of the doubt due to the virus shutting everything down for a while and re-training of staff) - I highly recommend Glenlaurel.

Yelp
We stayed at Glenlaurel Inn this past weekend at the Drummond croft, and we would like to share our experience. On the day of our arrival, we called the management office in order to give notice that we would be arriving for a late check-in. We were instructed to pick up the keys to our croft from the lockbox located outside of the main office. During this phone call, the person with whom we spoke let us know that there would not be a hot tub on the balcony of our croft because the hot tub was not working. This was very disappointing for us considering that the primary reason why we booked this particular croft was because the pictures of it online advertised a beautiful hot tub on the balcony. The person on the phone stated that she would usually rebook the guests for another accommodation with a hot tub, but since everything else had already been booked, there was nothing that she could do. No discount on the room rate was offered to us at that point in time. Furthermore, had we not called in to notify management of our arrival that day, we would have never been told about the lack of a hot tub, and we would have been very disappointed upon arrival to our croft. The following morning, we made reservations for the restaurant at Glenlaurel Inn. We were given the option to choose between chicken or filet mignon (for an additional $10). We chose the filet mignon and requested that the meat be cooked medium rare. When we arrived to dinner that night, we were given a salad to start with followed by a cold soup. The cold soup was an odd mixture of melons that more closely resembled melted frozen yogurt than soup. Following this, we were given our steak, which was served on top of a very plain bed of unseasoned noodles. Unfortunately, the steak was extremely dry, overcooked, and generally flavorless. As we were eating our steak entrée, I decided that I wanted to order a vodka tonic. My boyfriend motioned to our waiter who was talking to other guests at the time to come to our table. The waiter nodded that he would come over. We then waited another 10 minutes as the waiter continued to speak to the other guests. We decided to motion to another waitress who immediately approached our table. She then asked for our waiter to come to our table, at which time he obliged. When I requested my drink, he told us that the dinner service was over and that the bar was closed. Although he was apologetic, we would have been able to order the drink had he been attentive and come over to our table when we had asked. At the conclusion of the dinner, the chef came to the dining room to tell everyone that the dinner service had concluded and that he would light a bonfire outside for the guests. He also told everyone to, "grab a bottle of wine or a glass of whisky and make some friends," but it is unclear how we could have done so considering that the bar was already closed. The entire dinner service began at 7 pm and was over not too long after 8 pm. It all felt very rushed and was quite overpriced for the experience - $45/person for dinner, not including alcohol. It is also worth mentioning that there was no music, not even some white noise, in the dining room. This made for a relatively awkward experience. The few couples seated in the dining room including us were literally whispering to one another so as to not be too loud for the other guests. This is certainly not the feel that a high-priced restaurant should give to its guests. Over the weekend that we were staying there, we went hiking every single day. This was the best experience of the entire trip. There are many trails in Hocking Hills that are absolutely beautiful. The trail near the Glen Laurel estate is rather basic, however, if you drive out to some of the other Hocking Hills trails, you will not be disappointed. Specifically, Conkle's Hollow State Nature Preserve is GORGEOUS. We took Rim trail which leads up the mountain, and it was a fantastic experience. It is a bit of a more challenging trail and one must be careful climbing it, but if you are paying attention and not rushing, the climb is worth the stunning views that you will encounter on top of the mountain. Lastly, as a part of our trip to Glen Laurel, we had requested a couple's massage. Once we arrived, we did not receive any communications nor updates about the status of this request. We went to the management office to inquire about the massage at which time we were told that the masseuse would not feel comfortable giving us a massage due to the coronavirus. While we completely understand his concern and in no way hold this against him, we were disappointed that no one had communicated with us about the fact that there would be no massage. Similar to the hot tub situation, we had to actively inquire about it in order to get a status update. The woman who worked at the management office informed us that we could try to get a massage at the shopping mall, but this is no way equivalent to a private coup

Yelp
Lovely romantic 40th anniversary with a first time stay at Glen Laurel did not disappoint. Exceptionally clean with kitchen equipment and bath supplies for two. Intimate forest setting was a delight for enjoying nature on the patio and from the hot tub under the evening stars and with the morning birds. Staff was pleasant and helpful in answering all our questions prior to arrival. The morning breakfast cuisine was delicious both for take out to back to our cabin, and also when dining in. We were not able to visit the Manor House for evening dining but look forward to that as an additional treat when we return.

Yelp
Let me start by saying, I really, really wanted to love this place...and I did love many things. Unfortunately, the food was not one of them. We went for the Saturday night seven course meal. The inn was a bit difficult to find as it was dark and none of the signs are lit. Glenlaurel is a Scottish style inn and when we pulled in the grounds were lovely and a bagpiper was playing by the entrance. The grounds and inn were lovely. Dinner started fine and the experience as a whole was good. The menu however lacked creativity and was very heavy on cheese. Several of my courses were delivered barely warm. The food was very early 80's hotel banquet fare. It was certainly edible, just not what I was expecting. I think if I were to go again, I would not go on a weekend but rather a weekday. Perhaps nights when the dining rooms aren't filled to capacity, the kitchen feels free to get more creative and not just phone it in.

Yelp
I have to say that after the amount charged for the experience I was left wondering just who considers this a fair value. We have stayed at numerous destinations within a 5 hour drive of Cincinnati and have to say that Glenlaurel is the bottom of our list. We stayed in the Ross which was their newest offering as of our arrival. It is just above the rental office and you hear every coming and going, every conversation, every footstep and door opening. Hardly making for a quiet or romantic getaway. The bathroom is open to the rest of the room with no ceiling, no exhaust fan and, almost unforgivably in my opinion, a sink that is not in front of a mirror. Hardly the mark of professional interior design. We ordered food for two nights and cancelled after the first. The salads were unappetizing, the portions the size of a frozen entree, not a home cooked meal. We did the free breakfast one morning, passed on the 2nd due to it not being up to $300 a night standards but McDonald's was. That should tell you all you need to know. Oh and a note to the cook, you don't serve roast beef with mayonnaise. Last but not least I have no problems with a getaway being no cable, no cell phone, internet etc. That is a charm in and of itself in this day and age. However if you're going to advertise a Blu Ray/DVD collection to an upscale clientele the movies had best be current and not throwbacks from the 80's. Picking between Turner and Hooch and Beetlejuice is worse than having nothing at all. After registering these complaints at checkout we were told the innkeeper would be in contact with us within 24 hours. It's 4 days later and of course, no call. If you have the opportunity to book this during warm weather when the idea is not to be trapped in your room for 48 hours without kids (It was our goal in mid-February.) my outlook might not be as pessimistic. Oh and I've read other reviews on this section, I'm not surprised we were not the only couple to experience the cigarette scented massage staff. Save yourself that expense or be prepared to hold your nose. Right now I'm left with that dreaded feeling of "I wish we had...."

Yelp
The six course meal was portioned ideally. We started with a salmon appetizer embedded within a light pastry. (Sorry, I've forgotten the proper name given on the menu). Next was a salad with berries and walnuts seasoned with a mild balsamic vinegar. We followed this with a lentil and ham soup with diced cubes of carrots, celery, ham, and some type of bean blended into the sauce itself. A portion of handmade peach sorbet cleared the palette for the main course. Some had pork tenderloins, others had chicken. We decided on the nicely cooked rack of lamb. The dessert was a pumpkin "brownie" -- half way between a cake and a pie. Overall, a very enjoyable dinner. The hour of social at the bar before dinner is an option.

Yelp
This was our first time visiting Glenlaurel and it was absolutely perfect. My husband and I are both essential workers and decided to take a much needed break from the stress of this crazy year. We stayed in the Drummond Croft and it was the perfect size and so cozy. We ate breakfast on the screened in porch every morning and enjoyed the hot tub while looking at the stars. The only thing we didn't do was eat at the pub. We are already planning our next trip!

Debbie G.

Yelp
Stayed there for two nights in July. Loved how they had Scottish music playing in our room upon arrival. We were scheduled to have dinner on site our second night, but the establishment cancelled dinner for that night. The internet says there is a pub, but it only open the hour before dinner. When we first arrived they were ten minutes into their dinner time, so the door was locked. It would be nice if that info was added to the site as we had planned on a pub style snack for that night. one of the draws for us to this place was that they have a small links golf course. That too was closed during our stay. no internet, the note in the room says just like in Scotland...for the price I think they should add internet for the guests. breakfast was nice, waitress was extremely nice and helpful. I think they should add Scottish cows and sheep out front.

Yelp
Beautiful buildings nestled in the hocking hills. Several days prior, we were contacted by phone and given hotel information and our dinner options, including picnic lunches. We came in after check in had closed, but our room decor (macgregor room) was tasteful and well themed, with Scottish music quietly playing and a balcony facing the woods. The shampoo/conditioner set was of good quality, with many thoughtful touches throughout the room (magazines, hair drier, coffeemaker, fridge). The jacuzzi tub was an added bonus, as was the shortbread. There was a binder of activities on property, as well as suggestions for local restaurants. We went into Lancaster for Ale House- highly recommend! Our room was quiet and private, and the inn's breakfast was delicious, especially the scones. The description of the holiday events here sound lovely. Would definitely recommend to others.

Yelp
Arrived 3:10 Sunday, December 30, 2012. Directions & emails great. At check-in informed room, McKenzie, wasn't ready & told to join reception in manor house & we'd be told when room was ready. After an hour (check-in is 3:30) room still not ready. Reception included cookies, cookies, & cordials. Nice but too many sweets. Nuts better addition. After 1 hour 30 minutes told room's ready. Stairs had spills on walls. At room 1st thing noticed could hear everything being said below us. Place was full no place to move. Next darkness of room. Light by closet burned out. Reported it but no one came til next day & told entire light needed replaced & must talk w/ supervisor but lights been breaking recently & all had to be replaced. If they knew this why didn't they replace them all instead of waiting for someone to complain? Never fixed light while there. Had time before dinner & went to sit on couch & found peanuts, popcorn & gooey substance on it. I'd to clean before I'd sit. Told cleaning staff & took stuff away & said nothing. Noticed end table was dirty. It'd greasy film on it. Bed: plastic shower curtain like cover under sheets & sweated all night. Biggest problem w/room: able to hear everyone below. Bathroom nice: had 2 person whirlpool & shower. Whirlpool difficult to get out of but had grab bar. Shower older (like 60s) & needs remodeled. 5 windows looked great but ICE COLD. Even w/ curtains shut you'd feel cold. Had fireplace & kept running for warmth. Bathroom:heater in ceiling-fan noisy as was toilet exhaust fan. Both need replaced. Toilet paper & tissues cheap brand. Can't believe they're using cheap items in place that's supposed to be elegant. Dinner-hors d'oeuvres;cheese, crackers, shrimp, salmon, vegetables, nacho chips, hot & cold ones including beef strips. Leftover sweets available-Guinness cupcake w/Baileys icing yummy & gave recipe nice. Not told wasn't a true dinner. Evening included casino program & had funny money for games. 9:00 cashed for prize tickets. Every couple won prize. Fun. Received bag of fruit & dessert spreads w/ box of crackers. Another couple, won six course dinner on next visit. Had to give to family member cause from out of state. Ended evening, back in room, again hear noise below, couldn't go to bed till quiet. At breakfast. noticed food on wall where sitting, maybe from someone who'd just left. Breakfast good & included waffles w/ham or omelet w/peppers & onions. I asked for eggs. Said no problem & brought 2 eggs w/ham. We're pleased w/food but service lacking. Noticed other couples, came after us, offered coffee & juice quickly, we sat waiting. Took 5 minutes finally come others arriving & getting services. Next morning food still on wall & service still lacking. Breakfast; Scottish Eggs wrapped in sausage-yummy. Oatmeal served w/both breakfasts' was cold. Scone type bread burnt on bottom. Back to room. Asked if wanted room cleaned & said yes. Light above closet out, tried to use flashlight, needed new batteries, they replaced them. Great, able to see in closet. Stayed in room till New Year's Eve event started. Black tie event. Escorted to pub; light appetizers, bagpipes called to dinner. Our table on lower level some upstairs. Every couple sat at own table for 7 course dinner. Everything fantastic. Started w/ pork & quail egg, turtle soup, bass. Next chocolate raspberry sorbet, elk. roasted quail-phenomenal. Last sticky toffee bread. Again, not served well as others. Watched as others asked if wanted a drink. Had to flag down server to ask for drinks & table had no bread. After dinner, celebration of Hogmanay. Nice followed by bon fire & sparklers. Led to manor house by bagpiper & toasted New Year w/champagne. Evening done but again wait till quiet before sleep. Problem w/service many guests there multiple times & staff leaned to them & left newbies out. Wanted to get out of place. Wanted quiet place w/little bit of entertainment for New Year's but didn't want isolated & this happened. Repeaters stayed together while newbies left alone. Cost: 2 night event over $1,200.00. Place not worth money, it was dirty & service lacking. It's on "Select Registry" list & built/opened in 1994 but found nothing "select" about place to make us want to return.

Yelp
My wife surprised me with an anniversary getaway weekend at Glenlaurel. I didn't know where we were going until we got there. It was a Sunday, the grounds looked beautiful even with the after-winter dead trees look. The room was cozy and looked very clean. After a couple of hours settling in, we went for the 6 course dinner which tasted good but nothing outta this world and certainly not worth $165! The second surprise of the night was when we went back to the room after dinner and 10 minutes in my wife rushes to the bathroom. And then again 5 minutes later. She said there was something wrong with the food but I didn't think much of it. By 1am I was the one puking my brains out hugging the toilet. I was ready to leave by morning but my wife convinced me to stay for the time we reserved the room. We went out to eat every time because we refused to consume anything there. I talked to the girl at the front desk about the happening and she was gonna "check it out" and pass it along the inn supervisor. We never heard a word or a call from anyone the whole time we stayed there. To sum up, it's getting 1 star for its questionable food and very poor customer service. Never going back.

Yelp
I called their office to book dinner reservations for my fiancé's 61st birthday and was told they could accommodate us for Saturday evening (January 19, 2019). They took my credit card information to prepay the meal for the reservation and then an hour later called to say they couldn't accommodate us on the date requested and wanted to switch the date to the next evening. I had spent hours researching the different restaurants in the are for this special event and was not pleased that could not accommodate us after they had charged my credit card. I ended up canceling the reservation as the meal/entertainment the following evening was not the same. We were very disappointed by this and they didnt seem to care at all. This is not an establishment that I would attempt to book a reservation at again due to their ability to know if they can accommodate a patron calling for a specific date for their reservation. Very disappointed!! Dianne Cartledge, Michigan

Yelp
I surprised my girlfriend with a weekend away for her birthday. From the moment I called to make reservations, to the awesome 7 course dinner, and the breakfast, everybody was accommodating and professional. We loved all the personal notes found in our roomy, comfortable and beautiful (the view off the patio was fantastic)MacLeod croft as well. Highly recommend, we'll be back!
