The Best Breakfast and Brunch Restaurants in Eugene, Oregon | Eater Portland

"A longtime campus go-to for a family brunch-turned-South Eugene strip mall spot, Glenwood still delivers classic hippy sensibilities with a menu that runs the gamut from breakfast skillets to gluten-free pancakes. Tofu and tempeh are abundant. For something on the gut-busting end of the spectrum check out the Monster burrito that’s stuffed with the works — homefries, bacon, ham, mushrooms, and veggies all included. Those looking for something that feels more “wholesome” should check out the Santa Fe breakfast bowl with rice, beans, and plenty of kale, spinach, and other assorted veg, plus mandatory avocado and salsa. Coffee, beer, wine, mimosas, and even kombucha are available." - Brenna Houck

Glenwood will always be special to me, when I arrived in the states, in Eugene, this was the first place my husband took me and I love the food, the ambiance and the people. We visited again yesterday. Sharing some photos I’ve taken when I visited.

This uniquely eugene restaurant holds so many great memories for me and my family. The kids when they are home want to have breakfast there. My sister and I recall the lean grad school years when we ate potatoes with ketchup and coffee. Mags recalls her noodle dish which the chef promises to prepare for her. Friends from undergrad were surprised that their east coast service dawg was welcome in the booth. The coffee is hot and fresh. The wait staff is fantastic and attentive. The eggs are fresh. The bacon can be done crisply. They have sourdough! And if u feel like a Glenwood homemade supper, this institution sells a very affordable supper for 4 (to go) weekly. U must get your order in early like Monday for a Weds or Thurs pickup...u and yours will not be disappointed.

Google
Great traditional diner with everything you can hope for on the breakfast menu. Looks like a lot on the non-breakfast menu also, but we didn't even get that far. We shared the French toast sampler with over medium eggs and crispy homestyle potatoes. They were perfect! We also shared an order of biscuits and gravy. The waitress pointed out that a side of biscuits was only $2.50 less than the whole order, so we got the whole order and had crispy bacon also. It was a delightful meal and we left with full bellies and some leftovers. It looked like they had some decent options for vegetarians and vegans also.

We love the food and service here . Our go to order is eggs Benedict and waffles.

A gathering of Desolation's Angels met to drink coffee and break fast. Friends and strangers alike sat together discussing, talking, listening, enjoying the Spider on the Wall. A gracious and amenable host. A wonder of a young woman who took care of us. My one complaint, in all my years of feasts and fetes on this Earth never have I had an entire breakfast that was as salty as this one. From the toast, to the potatoes, to the sausage to the conversation. Not really. Salty conversation I mean. The meal, yes. Salty as the Demeter crashed upon the shore. Salty as a desert sky filled with invisible bats. Yet I digress.... A good time was had by one and all.

We loved our visit to The Glenwood! The pancakes and home made potatoes were fantastic. Thank you Mr. Wobbles for making our morning brighter :) The service was fantastic! Next time we’re in Eugene we will be back.

Great food, service is always great! Gets a little loud when it gets busy. Been going for well over a decade!

Yelp
While I still miss their campus location, these folks offer a dependable and solid spot for a great breakfast. My friend and I ate there this morning and she was amazed at the number of options available for breakfast and lunch. I have my favorites - either huevos rancheros or the eggs Benedict with mushrooms. I continue to believe that there are Benedict sauce is the best in town. On a nice sunny day, they also have great outside seating.

Yelp
We walk in and this place is tight. We see an abundance of tables for two. There are a couple of larger tables towards the back of the room. I'm not sure I understand the motif here as it is obvious that everything there seemed to be a distressed theme and run down, intentionally. The place looked clean enough, just not sure I understand the style of making your place look tired and exhausted, but it is intentional, nobody can possibly do that bad of a paint job on accident, holy cow LOL! Apparently though, this place is supposed to be a hopping location. Several Yelpers I know have given it high marks, so we get a table for four and try it out. This is a small location and driving up, I couldn't even see the small sign out front, it was covered with tree branches. Entering the restaurant we find ourselves standing in a small narrow hallway by a register. As luck would have it, a table for four was available, so we were led down a very narrow path between tables and seated at the back. The tables were an interesting shape but were very roomy and comfortable. Service was very nice. They were courteous and informative and willing to chat about the menu items. The menu itself was surprisingly full with a wide range of options. I opted for the Doña Ana chicken sandwich. It was crisp, hot and delicious. There was a surprise from a little spice heat, not sure if that was the aioli, but overall this sandwich was worth it. The veggies were crisp fresh and cool while the meat was a moist crispy chicken that was hot, the cheese was melted nicely. The ciabatta bun was also well done in that it held together very well and tasted fresh. I had a side of fries and they were the variety that is very crispy and has that baked appearance, not oily in the slightest. The London Fog Tea was far superior to the house coffee (I had a cup of coffee before I found the London Fog). I was very satisfied with the quality and taste of this meal, I'm willing to go back and try some other items. I just don't understand the Stressed Look fashion being desirable these days, the curse of being a Boomer I suppose. I'll be back to try more things though, the food here really is tasty.

Yelp
Awful food (Meh). Horrible service. (Waiter ignored us) Dirty (Not sanitary). Do they just not care at all? (We tried this because it is supposed to be a local favorite. Eew...we won't be back.)

Yelp
I was in the area and between appointments so I decided to stop and try lunch at Glenwood. The interior is styled like a cozy diner and a lot of seniors like me were there. I have been wanting a patty melt for a while so I ordered my patty melt medium rare and a side salad with blue cheese dressing in place of fries. My server took my order and someone else delivered my food. I just had ice water with my meal, but no one ever came around to refill my glass. The side salad was surprisingly good as it had garbanzos and beets on a fresh bed of mixed greens I was very disappointed in the patty melt as the tasty marble rye bread was very greasy and the preformed patty was very dry. The red onions were cut pretty thick and were barely sautéed. I could not tell if there had been a slice of cheese in the sandwich or if it was just some type of cheese sauce. The breakfast menu may be my choice the next time I am in the area.

Yelp
Solid delicious breakfast food and stellar service. Nostalgic vibe delivers on convenience and value. Will visit again, now a planned stop whenever we make the Seattle to Cali trek.

Yelp
We recently dined at the Glenwood I had the Ruben sandwich it was ok I probably would not order it again, not a lot of meat and just didn't feel like I was eating a traditional Ruben had it with side of their tomato cheddar soup it had good flavor need some cream it was pretty thick . My husband had the Montana omelette he really liked it said it was very good that is what he usually gets and he is never disappointed. My daughter orders a bacon cheese egg white omelette with peppers and extra bacon on side she also really enjoyed it. Of course the raspberry jam was delicious like always :) I have had really good meals here in the past just the Reuben not for me. we will Be back, The service was great and they were very friendly . I always enjoy the atmosphere due to it being small and it is definitely a great Eugene restaurant to come and try. :)

Yelp
The Glenwood has improved over the past few years, IMHO. Food and service is great and you get that homemade, friendly vibe there. Be it breakfast or lunch, you really can't go wrong and over the last year, can't say I have had anything bad from the food to service. Worth the stop when in the area.

Yelp
I've always loved the Glenwood. Hands down the best breakfast place in town. Great local (strong) coffee. Simple orgasmic bread from Great Harvest. My go to for years has been the Durango Scramble (add avocado). Delightful and overly filling. Their fresh fruit side is actually fresh! When other restaurants offer canned or a pittance of portion... Glewood rolls in with the real deal and generous portions. Nice! I've never ordered a breakfast sandwich and been happy (except for the emergency McDonalds sausage biscuit... I know what I'm getting) but, the last two visits to the Glenwood... I wasn't really hungry.. so, I assumed I'd get this small toasted sandwich. WRONG! It was the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had! So, I had it again. Hearty... eggs cooked perfectly and they have the best bacon! I ask for double-bacon rather than the ham and bacon that comes on the Durango... because I'm not a ham girl... even though I love to "ham it up"! Just go! You're welcome! Pro tip: home fries are cubed and fried potatoes w extras. A must have!

Ilona S.

Yelp
An Eugene classic, and open for breakfast and lunch. Their menu is extensive and they are always willing to make things vegetarian or vegan for my friend. So she had a tofu scramble (instead of egg scramble) without cheese. I had the chicken and waffle. Good chicken, two royal pieces of tender, well seasoned and crispy but not greasy chicken. The waffle was a bit thin and could have been a bit more crispy to support the chicken, but tasted good. The place was deservedly packed for lunch but service was efficient and friendly. Parking is always an issue in the area.

Yelp
The food is absolutely amazing. Took my adult daughter for brunch for her birthday it was absolutely amazing the service was just as amazing the waiter so nice brought a blueberry muffin out with a candle for my daughter. The pancakes are probably the best I've had in a restaurant they had a vanilla flavor so good & the eggs Benedict was perfect! I highly recommend

Yelp
I love Glenwood. It's such a cute brunch/lunch spot. I come here all the time. It gets busy on the weekends so they do have a waitlist. The interior is super cozy and rustic. The menu is huge and everything is delicious. It's great if you want a hearty meal. I love the blt sandwich and their sweet potato fries. Service is great, all the employees are very friendly and accommodating.

Clarence D.

Yelp
Enjoyed Eggs Benedict with ham & potatoes. The hollandaise sauce was ample and yummy! My wife throughly enjoyed her loaded oats with fruit. Fast service today, had our meal in 15 minutes.

Yelp
Very impressed with the dinner takeout. Had the pulled pork and it was fantastic. Hand delivered to the car with smiles. A good portion, with lots of flavor. One small suggestion do a spilt take out. 1/2 green and 1/2 red. I will be back even if I live on the north side of town. Thank you for the nice dinner.

Colette S.

Yelp
Their takeaway family meals are a STEAL!! We also went for breakfast once, it's a typical ihop style old fashioned diner.

Myra H.

Yelp
We tried this joint for lunch and were not particularly impressed. The "special" soup of the day was something called Tomato Cheese. It was like a salty, heavy pasta sauce in a cup. Not like any tomato soup I have had and not tasty. The chicken salad sandwich was quite bleak, alone on a large plate. It featured dry, thin raisin bread, a single leaf of lettuce and some unremarkable chopped chicken and onion with turmeric sauce. $13. The spaghetti was a big plate of noodles with some unremarkable tomato sauce. Rolls turned to concrete when they cooled. Salad was ok. $15. Service was average. Ambiance was lacking. Not planning to rush back any time soon.

Yelp
HO-HUM Service was spotty, food was just okay. A little noisy inside. Just not worth going back. There was nothing wrong with my food, just kinda' skimpy portions and everything needed seasoning. My friend had fish & chips that were over cooked and served with really ordinary fries. The server had no idea what Malt Vinegar was and had to go ask but finally found some.

Yelp
This place been around for ever. It's ok decent for kids or when you don't really care about quality. We ordered over medium egg. Got an easy egg. Ordered avocado toast and it came "build your own " style. Kids pancakes tasted like rubber. So. There you have it.

william v.

Yelp
Hadn't tried this place for two years and won't be back for at least another two. The wait was extra long with no one stopping by and giving us status. When food finally came after 35 minutes ( note we ordered at 1 pm so not the busiest time) the burger was a hockey puck, dry and way overcooked. Maybe breakfast items are OK. But they're oh for two.
google avatar

Ari S.

Yelp
Love this Eugene staple! Been visiting this place since I was a kid. Every time we make it back to Eugene there is a meal at Glenwood no matter what!

Yelp
The Glenwood is definitely back in action. Their entire extensive menu of breakfasts, sandwiches, burgers, dinner entrees, and more is now conveniently available via convenient online ordering. One evening we ordered the huevos rancheros ($9), the sesame ginger chicken salad ($11), and a tempeh peanut-sauce stir fry ($14). Each came with a soup/side as well (tomato bisque & clam chowder). Overall I was super impressed with everything. Sometimes to-go food doesn't translate well, but over here presentation and quality was not lacking. Everything looked and tasted great. My favorite was the stir-fry. It was a generous amount of tempeh and veggies with just the right amount of peanut sauce + rice. I added a bit of sriracha which took it over the top. It tasted even better out of the fridge the next day. Both soups were great as well. I would order any of those items again. They are doing another cool thing. On weekdays you can order a family dinner (meant for 4 people) for $18. And on the weekend they have family breakfasts. The choices rotate every day, and there are usually veggie-friendly versions too. Check the website to see the latest options, they are good about updating it. Today's breakfast option is a Strawberry Brioche French Toast Bake. How amazing does that sound??? So whether you want a brunch-to-go, breakfast-for-dinner, a juicy burger, or a million other things -- definitely check out Glenwood.

Yelp
Edson is awesome, and I'm happy he's still here! Glenwood serves great food at decent prices, and it's worth making the trip to their Willamette location now the the campus location is at least for now gone. I'm personally a fan of their salmon Benedict, but I'd doubt you'd be disappointed in any breakfast item they offer! While there's a decently large parking lot, you can always park on the side streets off Willamette as well. Walking a half block isn't a big deal.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
Really nice spot for brunch at completely reasonable prices! My group collectively tried the waffles, French toast, eggs, bacon, and sausage and it was all great! Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Awesome service and excellent food. One of the best breakfasts we have had. Ambiance is nice.

Yelp
I was thinking to myself today, "Dang, it's been a while since I've had a burger." In the past, I usually had to go with whatever vegetarian burger is on the menu. Typically, this meant some kind of black bean or quinoa idea of a burger patty. Now with the Impossible Burger, that itch for a satisfying, juicy, and savory burger is finally being scratched. Today, my husband and I ordered two burgers from Glenwood. He got the crooked river burger with fries. I tried the santiam burger. I subbed for the Impossible Burger patty for $1. I, also, subbed for truffle fries for an additional $1. The ordering online process what very easy. They have a seperate entrance for pick up orders from the outdoor dining entrance. (I wasn't paying attention and went through the wrong door. Don't do that. I mean, it's fine if you happen to. They aren't going to yell at you or anything. Just make it easier on them and read their directions, which I did not.) Both burgers were good. My truffle fries, however, were not as truffly as I was hoping my truffle fries would be. Overall, good experience. I do think I prefer their breakfast menu though.

Yelp
Man this was a great place to have breakfast. They just opened back up from fire. We,(wife and daughter and I) were greeted at the door by Dorian. Let me start by saying..Dorian was prompt and laid back but would not let my wife and daughters coffee go empty. We then were blessed to meet Edson. He was also so attentive to our needs and upbeat. Don't wanna drag this review on..but if you are in Eugene stop here. You will not be disappointed. The food and service was perfect. Edson makes his own version of a habanero sauce. This is freaking awesome, hot as hell, but awesome. I had to buy some. Photos are what we ordered.

Yelp
After a series of very disappointing experiences returning to my favorite restaurants post-pandemic; I was initially scared to return to the Glenwood-- which has been my favorite breakfast spot since I moved here 7 years ago! However, somehow I think it's improved. The food always comes out lightning fast fast (when it isn't busy, within ten minutes of me ordering and somehow hot); I'm a Chef by trade and am constantly in awe, seriously what super powered line-cooks do y'all have back there? The servers are also as friendly as ever! I've seen a lot of new faces and they all seem to have been trained well, are all so nice, and keep their cool in a busy atmosphere: the wait can be pretty long sometimes, but I promise you it's worth it. Don't hesitate to try!
google avatar

Lesli T.

Yelp
This is our "go-to" place for very consistent, solid American food. There's nothing fancy, gourmet, spicy or outrageously creative here, but what they do is good. And it says a lot to return to a place time-and-time again and have each dish exactly as it was before. They have a lot of egg dishes/omelettes, healthy portions, a wide variety of sandwiches, burgers, salads, and dinner items like different pastas, steaks, chicken dishes. There are also quite a few vegetarian options. They have recently been closed for dinner, so we mainly order from their breakfast and lunch menus. My husband's favourite for breakfast is "The Works" omelette, which is like a Denver omelette with Spanish sauce on top. My favorite is the Alder St. turkey sandwich with rye bread. If you love onion rings, you may want to add those because they're some of the best I've had in Eugene. Their mushroom Swiss burger is also really good. The servers are always sweet and the prices are very reasonable.
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
Love the food here, every time I go it is always so tasty! I personally live their country poach fish or their eggs Benedict! Vanilla lattes are also a hit! The service there has always been consistent and the people are very nice and welcoming. The restaurant itself has a cute atmosphere, a perfect place for brunch or a hangover breakfast:)

Jodi M.

Yelp
Have to try the appetizer with the heirloom tomato, burrata cheese and crab - absolutely delicious. So good I had it two days in a row.

Yelp
Simply good food Food that your grandmother would recognize, served by a kind caring staff.

Yelp
Reopening: A special day today August 20,2020! After a five month period of closer, today was the day shining. March 9th 2020 the Glenwood Restaurant closed its doors. Crazy times! To the family/owners and the family whom work at the Glenwood, thank you for never giving up. Our hearts filled with sadness, out of work, uncertainty when will you re-open. You all know the story of how difficult it was for unemployed to file, owners to qualify for help. The power of faith and the community, they are open today. We have missed you! I have been going to the Glenwood in the mid 70s, when it was in the city of Glenwood. So many beautiful memories, more often I was their twice a day. When they started to open early evenings for desserts, candle light, servers steeped up and played a musical instrument, anyone remember? Jacquy, owner: Thank you. Willamette St location: Your son Edson greeted me at the door. I was second customer to walk in. Day of opening, a badge of honor. The Glenwood is a staple of Eugene, only a few restaurants can hold the honor. Ginger, Marco and yes Edson opened the doors. Ginger, you are a Spirited and beatific women, when you worked the camps location, then to come to the Willamette location, working with Linda, manger at the time. What a power house of hospitality. I was received with the most warm heartfelt family coming together. Hospitality, real gathering of Love as Ginger mentioned. For 18 plus years, I sat at Linda's section. On my day off, I would show up at 6:15 Am, doors do not open until 6:30. Linda had my tomato cheese soup and coffee on the table. Going to miss you Linda. Did I mention Tomato cheese soup, I offered and begged Linda to let me work in the kitchen washing dishes and any chore that needed done (free) Linda knew I was after the recipe of the soup. Not a chance. Faced with the challenge, I brought a home economics teacher and dropped off a pint at a specialty cheese shop, to this day, I cannot come close. Lets say a special thanks to Jacquy, Empty Bowels is a not for profit organization, I have been a part of for 25 years, Jacquy thank you for being a supporter of empty bowels, food for Lane County. The atmosphere has changed, policies and procedures have changed. With booths removed, is has space for a dance floor. I ask you all to be patient, patience will serve you. Look around at the changes. Stained Glass, lighting, air quality, new computer ordering system, we can not go in the back or kitchen area. Edson mentioned all the changes made, and more than the requirements of the state. Always first class! Thank you Edson. OK my order was as usual, Huevos Rancheros, and before, tomato cheese soup. They have not skipped a beet, same over the top delicious. Over the top love and hospitality. Go experience the love. Jacquy thank you and your family and loving regulars who have been part of your dream. Any one whom wants to edit this go for it, this comes from the heart of hearts. a special thanks to Ann and Rich regulars that are in the Pic

Yelp
Good food. Eggs Benedict, Durango Scramble and Pancakes were all hits and the staff were nice and attentive. Shame the location near campus closed, but the original delivers. Classic Eugene spot.

Yelp
friendly staff. always reliable. delicious food. it incredible drinks. an actual ma n pa restaurant in eugene that's serves good breakfast lunch and dinner - like they want all their food to be good? weird bc they close so early but i guess that makes it more of a treat. i typically never order breakfast food when out to eat because it doesn't keep well (to take home) and if i'm out at breakfast time it's to keep the buzz going, not to nourish the body. so the first time I went here I just ordered mimosas, and a tunafish sandwich to-go (so I could eat it later in the day when my hangover hit) this was like two years ago... back when that amazing campus patio existed. anyway since then it's been my go-to place. i take my nieces, my fiancé, colleagues and friends. Because I like to offer my food in exchange for a taste of others, i've had just a out everything on the menu. I could start with five completely different things and write an entire essay, but I'm not gonna do that. This place is amazing. The food is fresh and delicious, it's unique. I'm so glad a place like Eugene - that has nowhere really to eat that isn't a chain or a drive-through - has a place like this left. please don't let one of out last affordable local good a.f. restaurant be replaced with an apartment complex no one who actually lives here can afford w/o their parents allowances. omg i want their tuna melt, the glenwood breakfast, fish n chips, and oregon chai right now i'd eat and drink it all

Thomas O.

Yelp
We get their family dinner at least once a month. It is for take out only and they provide 2 options for $19. It is 4 delicious servings, We just had their pulled pork dinner. It came with Cole slaw, potato salad and buns with a BBQ sauce. Very generous portions and delicious. There was enough pull pork for 6 servings. It was perfectly prepared with a nice Smokey flavor.
google avatar

Kyle D.

Yelp
It's an absolutely classic Eugene restaurant. Although the exact opening year escapes me, I can assure you that it has been here as since as far back as my childhood (native Eugenian - 34 years old). There are two Glenwood locations: on campus and Willamette St. They're known for great breakfasts and better hangover food. They're probably best known for their tomato and cheese soup (seriously, give it a shot). Prices range from average to low'ish (at least for the quality of the food). The staff is always upbeat and I've never had bad service. Keep in mind, I ate at the campus location MANY times throughout college, since I lived off Alder. This place is solid 4-5 stars and has massive vintage charm. If you're not from the area, I 100% recommend checking it out (even you, Californians). Just make sure to bring your appetite, because portion sizes run large. Oh, and a quick tip, if you plan to hit them up during breakfast hours, be prepared for a small wait ;).

Yelp
See Beerboy and Jando below for an echo of this review. I think Jando S.nailed the issues. I've heard all about breakfast but we 3 went for dinner on Sunday. Although I did end up paying for my entree and reassuring the waiter that I was not miffed about it- you, gentle reader, should be advised that the previous reviews are correct- there is something off here. Takeaways- the meat and fish are well prepared. Stick with that part of the menu if you aren't here for breakfast. The vegetables are real and the salad dressings are homemade. Service, taken as a whole, is good but not great. NB- Those amused by quirk should pay a visit to the shrine in the Left side bathroom - da-da meets 70's craft. Priceless. Both bathrooms are all gender, & a large changing table with the shrine tipped this review to three stars. Normally, I would not think of two stars unless things had been really wrong, especially a local institution and down home stalwart like this but my hope is that this restaurant is established enough to hear some hard truths. Die hard fans are coming anyway, but you should be prepared. Unlike Vik S, we got no roll, nor did our side salads blow my mind. I got the fennel parm and was underwhelmed by it but impressed that it was house made. I ordered the Spicy black bean stir fry w/ tempeh. The OG ordered Liver. - we both got salad. My co-eater got the Salmon Picata w/ baked potato and soup. - I concur with Vik S that " the salmon piccata was a great dish." as was the Liver. both meals met the Vik S criteria:"It was a good amount of food, everything was seasoned well and cooked right." The liver was reported "VERY GOOD" I don't eat that. If you do, you might like it. The picata had big pieces of mushroom and was nicely flavored. The side veg were a bit over oily/cooked but fine. the potato- fine. Here's the down turn: The wait for food was QUITE a bit longer than we expected. Kitchens have bad days, but it was 6:30 on Sunday and not very busy. I was so cold I ended up under all the coats & noticed the other patrons were also bundled up. Is this normal in Eugene? Our server was nice but I was impressed by the almost palpable hostility of the host. Deadpan, non verbal, through 4 interactions. If human interaction is a social emotional challenge I suggest another line of work, without the public. (And yes, I have worked in many such establishments and am well aware of the scope of humanity involved.) Soup= chicken tortilla? Not in my experience. I expect that to be a clear, light, tangy chicken broth w/ stuff. This was effectively a thin chili. Fine. Not great. Fine. Don't order it if you share my expectations. My spicy black bean tempeh stir fry was not spicy and was full of chicken. I said, no prob, give me a side of tempeh and the co-eater can pick out the chicken. I'm a practical lacto/ ovo pescatarian who will taste almost anything short of actual meat. yes- I feel you purists judging- have fun with that. Flavor wise- the stir fry proved to be the kind of monolithic flavor-scape that has turned many vegetarians back into meat eaters & gave my co-eater PTSD flash back to his youth. I would not advise unless you are still in that day and think this is what vegetarian food is supposed to taste like. The tempeh was delivered as a luke warm, almost raw slab. HUH? At this point, I'm laughing. Unfortunately, my stomach is not. All in all- we agreed it was probably the worst meal we've had in Eugene, which is balanced by the fact that this is Eugene, so the food was actually real and edible for the most part. I will stick to breakfast downtown.

Yelp
Amazing, kind, and well amazing! Talk a friend into going and get sweet and savory items. Good coffee too.

This place always centered me. Life can get pretty crazy sometimes. Life never seemed to be too crazy here. I'd drink an unlimited amount of coffee, eat my breakfast, and talk with my roomie. Glenwood mornings were some of my favorite mornings. To be at Glenwood was to be at peace for a little while. If you don't like coffee, breakfast, your roomie, or peace, you may not enjoy this place as much as I did.

Yelp
Came to the Glenwood on Willamette to have a brunch with my parents. The atmosphere is always cozy and comfortable. We had a party of 6 and we were seated promptly. Service was ok, we felt a bit rushed to order and leave. We did not overstay our welcome and didn't linger any longer than the other diners. Food was good, my omelette came out cold as well as the potatoes. I think it sat in the window for a while as a few of the other dishes in our party were not warm as well. But we ate and enjoyed each others company. We have always loved coming here and the food has never disappointed (other than it being cold food today). The menu is diverse and you get a good portion with anything that you order, and there is something for everyone. Restaurant is clean and the staff are always friendly. This is not a regular place for us but we do come here on a whim every once in a while. Hopefully next time the food is hot or at least warm.

Yelp
Great service and amazing food, plus the best eggs Benedict in Eugene. Feels like an all American diner and tastes like a bed and breakfast.

Yelp
The Glenwood experience is really defined by two, almost semi-contrasting locations. The campus locale gets the popular vote, but not for its student proximity but because the food is consistently on point. This location in South Eugene has a more relaxed, calmer vibe. Yet there is something missing, which ultimately has boiled down to the food and service. dIt is by no means terrible, but something has always been off during my collective experiences here. I like that I can get seating without having to wait it out like its sister spot on Alder, but the service has also been on the slower side. Whether it's asking for water to be filled or waiting for the check, my dining companions and I have had to do our share of flagging down staff for a little attention. But all that would be negated if the food were amazing, which I can't really say it is. I'm such a breakfast fan that I was initially excited to know they serve it all the way till 5pm, only to find it somewhat lackluster. My eggs benedict ($10.50) had a bit too much hollandaise, which is usually not a problem, but it was more watery than I would have liked. The eggs were cooked well, so breaking the yoke helped the sauce out a bit so to speak. I wasn't too impressed with the Breakfast Skillet ($9) or the classic Glenwood with sausage ($10) unfortunately, but it was a decent helping of food. That said, this is a much better locale for families with kids (shout out to the coloring books!) and for patrons who want to take their time. If I'm not mistaken, there is WiFi here, which allows for students or laptop carrying folks to enjoy some time for work and a meal. The outdoor seating is really solid during good weather days and the private lot parking always seems to have available spots. There are mini booths lined up throughout the interior and the bathrooms are clean.

Yelp
There is always and wait and it's worth it, usually. I've been to this establishment many times and there's always a treat to be had. They've got an espresso machine as well as alcohol available. Portions are large and tasty! Adding crapes to the menu is about all I'd change! You pay at the register on your way out the door and you can enjoy their strawberry jam homemade on every table with breakfast!

Yelp
The Glenwood is a local favorite. Very pleasant servers and a diverse menu that is sure to please all. They have beer on tap now which is a nice bonus... we showed up around 11am on a Saturday and it was moderately busy. I highly recommend the mushroom omelette. For some reason I get it every time with potatoes and sourdough. My better half got the Rueben (we will find out how it is shortly). Additionally, I recommend the tomato soup - it is unreal!! It's a blatant mystery how the cheese doesn't melt because it clearly isn't the processed variety. Overall, I would definitely include the Glenwood in your rotation of Eugene breakfast spots. 5/5 for friendly service, great food, and clean dining area. Cheers!

Yelp
We were looking for an early dinner with kids so we heard about Glenwood. Service was good, restaurant was clean, people were very friendly. The waiter gave the kids crayons and paper to keep themselves busy as our food was being prepared. The server even was kind enough to bring another coloring sheet when requested. The kids ordered Mac and cheese, and the portion was generous. Six ounces of their favorite Mac served hot with melted cheddar cheese and one side. Can't go wrong there. One child chose applesauce and the other French fries and were delighted. My hubby and I ordered the grilled tempeh panini served on focaccia with lettuce and tomato and a dinner salad. Sandwich was alright, although a bit bland for my taste. I'd recommend this restaurant, it's family style, welcoming and for the cost, portions are a good size.

Yelp
We came here for lunch. As soon as we arrive we were seated, our drinks were provided almost immediately, and we were able to order food right after. They have a huge menu with many choices. No matter what kind of food you want, they have it! The restaurant is so Eugene. Earthy. When you come in you just feel comfortable. Lots of greenery, wood furniture, shiplap, even nice wait staff. Everyone seemed happy to do their job. We ordered tomato and cheese soup, which was very good. A chef salad that was delicious and filling. It came with a roll, which unfortunately was very tough and crunchy. My husband got the kalamata salmon and really enjoyed all aspects of it. The reason this place is only 4 stars is because of the WAIT TIME. We waited over 30 minutes for our food, never once did we get an offer for a refill on a drink, or asked how everything was. I realize it's a big menu and a smaller place, but we did not like such a long wait for our meal. I hope that normally there isn't such a wait, maybe just a one time thing? I'll go back for sure, just not when I'm on a time limit.

Yelp
All of my friends and family in Eugene love the Glenwood. Whenever I'm in town visiting that insist we go here for breakfast/brunch, which of course is fine with me. There is always a super long wait, so plan to wait 30-45 minutes on a weekend (if you want to read the paper, I strongly suggest bringing your own!) I've never had bad food here. Everything is delicious. But the espresso is definitely hit-or-miss, depending upon who makes it. The Mediterranean omelette is one of my favorites.
