Didn't know that this place existed, but it's right on the stretch of Brand by The Famous Bar and Buffalo Wild Wings. Parking isn't great but there's plenty of metered parking around as well as the 90 minute free parking structure about a block or so away over by the King Taco's.
Came here for happy hour, and ordered a few red ales, as well as the fried pickles, a brisket slider, a pulled pork slider, a fried chicken slider, and 4 smoky wings.
The waiter was great: friendly, personable, and eager to chat and make a good impression, which was appreciated. I like to try a bit of everything and also to get an idea of what might be the featured/special, which I would suppose at this place would be the bbq/brisket. Shortly after I ordered the brisket slider, I was apologetically informed that unfortunately, they were out of brisket, and we confusedly glanced at our watches as it was only 5:45 p.m., not even close to the end of the day. Some moments later the same waiter came out and said alas, though out of brisket, there would be enough for my slider, which I understood I should have been happy about, but I just imagined that it was just the old bits of brisket slopped together for a slider, and I was not mistaken.
First food up was the fried pickles. I had had some in Canada and really enjoyed them and rarely see them on menus in the US so was excited to dry. Not only were the pickles way too sour and salty, but the seasoning was excessive on the breading and the overall effect was just overwhelmingly, wincingly, inedibly salty. It tasted like super sour pickles wrapped up in overly season Bbq chips, then deep fried with again way too much seasoning. We each tried one before pushing it away.
The beef brisket was some mashed up old brisket and was dry and pretty flavorless.
The chicken slider had too little chicken to its breading, and the breading seemed to have been in day old bottom-of-the-pan oil, too brown, too crispy, and vaguely burned tasting.
The pulled pork slider was the best thing I ate, but it had the least amount of meat/protein, and a lot of slaw. It was good! but it was a good "sum of its parts", and I don't couldn't tell whether the pork itself was flavorful, but I enjoyed the different textures and flavors of it.
I wasn't able to eat the smoky wings until the next day but they were a bit spicy for my liking. To be fair, I'm more of a fan of average joe buffalo flavor for wings, so this might be more specific to my own tastes than general to the public.
I probably would not return.
