4 Best Day Trips from Rome

"Tucked away on a quiet street in the center of town, this intimate restaurant has a quintessential Old World vibe. Inside, there are brick arches and decor that references the town's ancient history, but the terrace is the place to be on a warm evening. As you'd expect in a beach town, seafood is the star of the menu here. (Even restaurant critic Ruth Reichl can't resist Sperlonga's seafood.) The dishes are fairly traditional, featuring classics like spaghetti alle vongole, risotto alla pescatora, and the catch of the day. For the best meal, ask the waiter what's fresh and trust their recommendation." - Laura Itzkowitz, Arlene Gibbs

The food here was incredible! i went with my mom and we were sat a table on the stairs and totally away from the beautiful garden which honestly i think they might better off just getting rid of. We shouldn’t have taken the table in the first place but we didn’t have a reservation so it was our fault for sure! i did find that our seating was maybe forgotten about a little bit? so we waited a long time even to just order. The food was delicious and i highly, highly recommend eating here but definitely try to make a reservation!!

Incredibly overrated and mid grade food. Terrible service. I have been to many places in Sperlonga and after finding this on a recommended list we attempted to make a reservation. The staff was slow, unprofessional and incredibly unfriendly. The pasta was bland and flavorless. They try to be overly creative with their food menu and it ends up tasting worse than just a basic meal. Overpriced food. Only good thing was the olive oil. You would save money and your happiness by eating just about anywhere else. Weird vibe. So Mid.

A wonderful place, very elegant and romantic. The quality of their dishes is undeniable. The courtesy of the staff is exceptional. The restaurant impresses with its cozy atmosphere, the evening was accompanied by playing the violin. I recommend this place to those who want to spend a pleasant evening in a relaxed atmosphere.

We made a reservation for a group of 7 people, looking forward to a nice evening together. When we arrived, we were denied entry solely because some of us were wearing bathing suits. That said, everyone was wearing button-up shirts and appeared presentable. There was no mention of a strict dress code when we booked, and we were treated with little courtesy or understanding despite our efforts to be respectful in appearance. For a restaurant near the beach, this kind of rude attitude felt unreasonable and unwelcoming. We were genuinely disappointed with how we were handled and will not be coming back. If you are a tourist you will not be welcomed here.

Amazing atmosphere, delicious food, great service. Shared 3 plates, and all 3 were perfect After spending 8 days in Italy, and having some of the best meals I've ever had in my life, this restaurant stands out as the best I've been to. In a pedestrian area, it can take a bit to find, but it is so worth it.

I really wanted to love this place but unfortunately the food was very average for the high price and the service was even worse. Our waiter was just rude and seemed annoyed at all times

Google
Great recommendation. The food was so well presented and cooked to perfection. i had the fish balls starter with the seasonal cooked vegetables . My partner had the best ever - spaghetti ( cooked to absolute perfection) with pumpkin flowers and anchovies ( taste explosion). Their beautiful olive bread 😍. Excellent prosecco . We ate light as had a late lunch but next time we will order more as their fish selection looked amazing. Beautiful part of the old town of Sperlonga.

The fish was extreme salty and the meat was cold. Additionally the service felt off while it was charged with 10% on the bill. Frankly, the worst experience in a long time.

Yelp
Delicious handmade noodles. I loved the "Gli Archi" Pasta and my vegetarian wife loved the pasta with vegetables.

Yelp
Considering how quaint Sperlonga is, the amount of well rated restaurants to choose from is limited. When choosing Gli Archi, we threw caution to the wind and it was the best decision we made. This restaurant was the best meal I had eaten in Italy. The fillet was to die for, along with the red wine and wonderful appetizer of ham and mozzarella. Even putting the meal aside, the atmosphere was so relaxing and the staff was immaculate. Despite my lack of Italian fluency, the staff was remarkably on top of our food, so kind and professional. Great outdoor seating and a great playlist to accompany it. Thank you Gli Archi
