The First Shop to Shutter at the New Essex Market — and More Closings | Eater NY

"A Hell’s Kitchen seafood restaurant opened in 2017 as a pescatarian place with natural wine that was well-received but struggled with multiple chef changes, a summer power outage, expensive equipment failures and a September robbery before ultimately closing." - Eater Staff

NYC Power Outages Have Had ‘Devastating’ Effects on Restaurants | Eater NY

"Phil Johnson told me that seafood destination Gloria was "severely affected" by the outage, with sales down about 50 percent on what is normally the restaurant’s busiest Saturday, a hit he called financially devastating; despite the stress, the mood that night was "communal," and he said he made some new regulars who will surely return." - Stefanie Tuder

The Grub Street Food Agenda for April

"A recently launched lunch service from the pescetarian team offers two standout $14 fish sandwiches: a messy, satisfying take on the classic with a thick, crispy hake fillet, bright chili yogurt and luxurious trout roe, and a heftier confit mackerel salad sandwich that reads like a longshoreman’s lunch. The midday menu also leans playful and seasonal with items such as stracciatella tucked under fava and mint leaves, and a recommended puddin' dessert priced at $8." - Chris Crowley

Fabulous atmosphere - outdoor patio. Pet friendly. Food is very good but nothing stands out as unique. A good variety. Service is adequate, friendly. Good prices. Easy location with good parking. We ate before 5 in September so there wasn't a wait.

Gloria's Corner Cafe is truly a gem. Staff, atmosphere and food were all wonderful. Very dog friendly. Food portions are very generous and the food is wholesome & filling... even the salads. For smoothies, I highly recommend the Tango-Mango (I got mine without banana), was so good my husband kept taking my drink on our drive home. Thank you! We will be back when in town again. 😍

Ate breakfast here and it was delicious. During breakfast we ordered picnic box lunches to take with us hiking. It was great. Good was fresh and fast, everyone enjoyed it. Piece of fruit in lunch box was really good. Soup was really flavorful and great.

Our 2nd time in Moab and 2nd time eating at Gloria's. Good breakfast spot! Service is great! Our server Chris is very attentive and polite. Food is really good. A big selection of juices... Coffee is really, really good. Very hot the way I like it.

My wife and I had breakfast at GLORIA'S at 7:30am on a Sunday. The dining room was quaint, quiet, and clean. We were sat immediately and ordered black coffee, a Morning Glory smoothie, a veggie omelette with potatoes and sourdough toast, and a bowl of oatmeal with banana, cinnamon, brown sugar and blueberries. The food was decent & reasonably priced. We spent $57.25 including tip.

Great customer service and ambiance was pleasant and quiet. We enjoyed the cauliflower tacos and the turkey, bacon and avocado wrap. The tacos should have had the sauce in the side instead of on it as that made the tacos fall apart, but they were so good. Definitely recommended.

Google
In Moab for a couple of days and walked along Main Street looking for a spot to grab dinner. We chose this place, partly because of the outdoor seating with misters — a nice perk on a warm evening. Our server got us settled in quickly and took our drink orders. We ended up with a mix of entrées: a burger, a salad, and tacos. The food was decent but not particularly memorable. The Walnut Cranberry Goat Cheese Salad was fresh, but it had very little cheese. The shrimp tacos were fine, though the side of guacamole was bland. Service was efficient but not especially warm or friendly. Overall, it was an okay meal — nothing bad, but nothing that would draw us back again.

We had a party of 20, we got sat down within less than 10 minutes. Our host was AMAZING!! So attentive & was the sweetest! Our food was out quickly. Food was great, service was perfect and the atmosphere was 10/10!! Thank you to our server, host & kitchen staff! Made the our vacation experience amazing.

Yelp
Gloria's is on Moab's main drag and offers wonderful outdoor seating. I cruised through on a Sunday afternoon on my way to Colorado to visit my grandson and stopped in. I wasn't terribly hungry but I needed to stop and I needed something. I ordered a Green Power smoothie to go, and on the way to my destination I kept catching the most amazing layered flavors. I was only going to spend a week in Colorado but 'life is what happens when you're busy making other plans' as John Lennon once said. I received news of a death in the family and wound up spending two weeks more on the road than planned. The entire time my mind kept returning to that smoothie. There was something about the flavor that kept me wanting more. So, when it was finally time to return home, I contrived to drive through Moab again and I stopped at Gloria's for another go at that smoothie. I can confirm that on my second taste, it did not disappoint. I have another trip coming up and I'll be getting my Green Power again! And since they do so well with smoothies, it's definitely time to try out the rest of the menu!

Yelp
I'm so glad we happened on this place, as Moab seems to be filled with regular bars and burgers joints. This restaurant/bar offers some healthier options which is helpful when you're traveling and subsisting on not great food. And it's walkable distance to dessert and shops. Their varied menu has burgers, sandwiches, salads, smoothies, etc. I enjoyed the grain bowl with quinoa, shredded carrots, cherry tomatoes, avocados, sweet potatoes (somewhat bland), BBQ tofu (sauce wasn't too heavy but probably should have been cooked down more to integrate) ($17). We also liked the trout with mashed potatoes and veggies (zucchini, peppers) ($32). Service was fine as well. There's indoor and outdoor seating. They also had live music. Street parking but we had no issues finding nearby.

Yelp
After doing several hikes and exploring Arches National Park, we felt like eating something light. We both got wraps (plus one smoothie) and the food was filling. The wraps were nice and full of food, and the flavors were pretty good. We opted for outside seating (seems like a must when in Moab) and got good seats to a car show along Main Street! The service was good and the outdoor seating area was nice. I do think the smoothie could have had a bit more flavor, but overall, this was a good experience!

Yelp
Came here after a hike in a beautiful sunny day for some smoothies! I got it to-go and service was pretty quick. I got the orange twist smoothie which was super refreshing and fresh!! They use juices as part of their smoothies, and the juice tasted like it was freshly squeezed. Highly recommend and will be back to try other smoothies! Food looked good too, but will have to come back to try that.

Yelp
The family decided to eat their left over from lunch for dinner, but I had no left over. For dinner, I was in the mood for pasta. My two daughters were in the mood for smoothies for refreshment. Gloria's fitted our need by serving spaghetti and meatball as well as smoothies. The spaghetti and meatball tasted pretty good and there were plenty of meatballs. The garlic breads were tasty as well. The daughters got a Pina colada and Green Power smoothie. They said the smoothies were delicious and refreshing. Employees were friendly. We didn't have to wait too long for our to go order. We were satisfied with Gloria's.

Yelp
Gloria's has a pleasant vibe with both indoor and outdoor seating. We went for brunch and were impressed by the excellent selection of smoothies and juices, the Green Goddess was especially amazing. The avocado toast was decent, and the burrito was delicious with a decent portion size. Their drink menu looks promising, and this spot is definitely worth a visit. We'll be back for more!

Yelp
There's very little I love more in life than a nice patio at a restaurant. Gloria's has that! There's also a lot of seating indoors, but outside on a cool morning is where it's at! Food is good, service is friendly and the ambience is just terrific.

Yelp
Tried this place after a morning of hiking in Moab and it was the perfect place! We were able to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather on their patio, which also had a lot of cute dogs walking by, so I loved it! The waitress was very nice, had good recommendations and got us our food quickly. I ordered a tuna wrap and a strawberry lavender kombucha. Both were amazing! My cousin also got a wrap, which she also liked. A good place with healthy options to fill you up and keep you hiking!

Yelp
I loved this place. It's the perfect spot for a nice light lunch after a hike. Everything here is super high quality and freshly made. The wraps are very good. Everything we had was great.

Yelp
We came here for breakfast one morning and definitely recommend! It wasn't busy so we were seated immediately. Our waitress, Cassie, was great and super sweet with our 1 year old. Food was brought out quick and everything was delicious!

Yelp
Our work team was taken to Gloria's recently, with the general consensus that it was a great place. Maybe it is? But I ordered the 23.00 Wild Thing burger that has Wagyu beef, elk, bison and wild boar meat. It tasted exactly like the $5 flavorless hamburger from the hospital cafeteria. And that is not an exaggeration! Zero flavor! Got one tiny slice of tomato. And the fries were cold. Service was fine. I will not eat there again - SO thankful I didn't pay for that!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing piña colada smoothie. Had little coconut chunks. So good. Service was extremely nice and helpful. Burger was standard but fries were nice. Sat outside near the heater and people watched.
google avatar

Suezie S.

Yelp
The potatoes are so greasy and flavorless. No signs of any rosemary either. The food is very bland and their menu is small. Definitely wouldn't come back. The service was great.

Yelp
Excellent dinner for our first visit. My wife had a smoothie and a salad. She always eats healthy. I had the meatballs and spaghetti. Very large and very good portion. Service was fast and efficient. We sat on the deck and enjoyed the ambiance. Recommend.

Anumeha T.

Yelp
They charged us a gratuity (tip) on a take out order. Such a rip off. Ridiculous system when you are giving tip without getting any service! You have got to be kidding! Definitely would spread a word among the friends not to eat here just for this reason. Do not go here. They are looters!
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped early for breakfast before heading to Canyonlands National Park. I got their avocado toast on fresh sourdough bread and my husband got the açaí bowl. Hit the spot and it was large enough to share. Great and fast service

Yelp
Pretty much the only healthy spot I could find in Moab. If you have realistic expectations, you'll be happy. We har the golden and red beet salad. Caramelized bacon was legit and spicy and I added 6oz steak which was the best part. Loved their golden beets. The server was cool and gave us vanilla frozen yogurt as a dessert when I hinted that I was craving frozen yogurt. It's not on the menu and they use it only for their health smoothies! It was so refreshing on a hot day. Patio had cooling mist sprayers and fans to keep us cool. We ate around 7pm and it was 100f that day, so I'm not sure if it would have been temperate had we eaten earlier. Prosecco was nice but their mixed drink with elderflower and champagne tasted artificial and might be better served for inmates in Guantanamo Bay during an interrogation!

Yelp
Disappointed by the lack of plant-based options. At a time when we know the enormous toll animal agriculture takes on our planet--driving climate change, deforestation, water pollution, and immense animal suffering--it's disheartening to see restaurants continuing to ignore more sustainable and ethical choices. Offering even one plant-based option would be a small but meaningful step forward. I hope this business reconsiders its role in creating a more compassionate and environmentally responsible future.

Yelp
Gloria's Corner Cafe offers a bright, welcoming spot in Moab with a charming exterior, particularly lovely patio, and a menu that satisfies both healthy‑eaters and comfort‑food fans. The food is fresh, portions are generous, and while service leans friendly and attentive, waits can stretch during peak times. All told, it hits the sweet spot between atmosphere, taste, and Moab‑style casual.

C G.

Yelp
Spent four nights in Moab. We ended up eating here twice because the food was so good. My husband had the steak salad. It had plenty of steak cooked to perfection. They didn't skimp on anything. I had the roasted beet salad. It had plenty of bacon, beets and more. It had a nice kick to it with the spicy seasoning. Both a hearty dinner meal. The next time I tried the apple and walnut salad and added chicken. A full breast and lots of walnuts which other restaurants don't give me enough. My husband couldn't venture a different meal, he ordered the steak salad again. Perfect meals after long days in the hot sun exploring national parks.

Yelp
Really nice restaurant. Great breakfast, huge variety of smoothies, mocktails and cocktails. Service was excellent. Family friendly and conveniently located. We will return.

Yelp
We stopped in here while on a road trip for a quick meal. They got my entire order wrong and the staff acted like I was in the wrong for being upset. They didn't remove the tails from the shrimp in the alfredo my daughter ordered, so she had to dig them out and remove the tails, which is messy. It wasn't cheap and you'd think for the price they'd remove the tails. The menu was pretty small, other than smoothies. The smoothie menu is extensive, so it seems it's more a smoothie bar than anything else. The staff was indifferent, if not downright rude. I wouldn't stop here again if ever in Moab again.
google avatar

Yelp
Super fresh tasting green juice! I can't comment on the food because I came here strictly for something to drink, but their juices are very tasty. They have a walk up counter where you can order their juices and smoothies, and a separate dining area for those who are coming to eat there. I stopped by in the early evening to grab a juice after hiking all day in nearby Arches National Park. I was able to find a parking spot right inside, but didn't see a dedicated parking lot (I think it's street parking only). The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Prices are on the higher side for their juices but they do use quality ingredients and it is in a touristy place. I ordered their Green Goddess juice which comes in a 16 ounce size only. The juice felt so refreshing to sip on after a long day of hiking and exploring. It tasted fresh and it wasn't too sweet but still very enjoyable. This spot is also vegan friendly and seems to be extremely popular with the vegan crowd. I wouldn't mind coming back one day for another drink and possibly a meal while in Moab.

Evan M.

Yelp
Smoothies were good, however, the star of the show had to be the chicken Caesar wrap. Chicken Caesar wrap tasted excellent, and the fries did as well. They must try wrap spot for lunch!

Jenna E.

Yelp
Lox bagel needs more onion and capers and tomatoes for the price. Asked for over easy and got over medium (yes there's a difference) potatoes bland. Classic biscuits and gravy. Nothing special but easy and simple. Also pricy. Service was okay, ambiance was cute but the inside smelt funny so we stuck to sitting outside.
google avatar

H. P.

Yelp
I've only been here once, and ordered the beet salad with chicken. While the salad was tasty, I think expected a beet salad be made up primarily of beets. Instead, I think it was primarily made up of spinach (which I'm not ordinarily opposed to as I actually enjoy greens, salads, etc.), and was not quite was I was expecting. Also, adding the chicken was an additional $7, and I'd say the portion I received was less than half a chicken breast -- which I do not feel is worth the price. So, overall, I just felt my experience here was so-so.

John S.

Yelp
Great food, great service, would recommend. Breakfast tacos were awesome. Dianne was a sweet heart.
google avatar

Olivia W.

Yelp
If you stop here PLEASE order the watermelon blast smoothie. You will not be disappointed in the slightest. The service was okay, but we cannot complain because the food was delivered super speedy! The ambiance of this restaurant was amazing! They had sprinklers going which allowed us to cool off and it emitted more of a small town vibe. As for the food, the fries were excellent! They even have truffle fries. I got the Hummus wrap which was delicious, but definitely needed more hummus. My boyfriend got the bistro burger which was massive and juicy, but he said it was yummy!

Michele G.

Yelp
Enjoyed sitting on the outside patio. The Kentucky Mule was good- made with makers mark. We split a Thai salad that was delicious and plenty for 2. The only disappointment was that I specifically searched on yelp for an açaí bowl & Glorias came up 1st but they don't offer açaí bowls. This could be a Yelp problem. Just don't go there expecting açaí. Otherwise their food was delicious!

M Y.

Yelp
Here for breakfast, and offers indoor and outdoor seating. The dishes use good ingredients and the service is good.

Yelp
Gloria's is a great place to stop for breakfast! Everyone in slayed their meals and left pleased. I had the Coconut French Toast and was happy with the taste, texture and portions. I enjoy their wrap around patio and overall vibe. The service was good. Will return on our next visit!

Yelp
If you're looking for a healthier option on Main Street Moab - this is your stop. Food and service were high quality. The Mediterranean Pasta was one of the best meals I had during my week stay. No joke I wanted to lick the bowl. Waitstaff was over the top friendly. Patio has nice water misters if you're looking to cool off. Grabbed an ice mocha on my way out - it was perfect. Enjoy!

Yelp
I had a delicious beet salad, something often order but this was a step above. Fresh spinach, yummy bacon and a salad dressing that tasted yummy. And then an excellent latte to end with.

Jahnavi B.

Yelp
Had a great dinner on the outdoor patio at Gloria's. The shrimp dinner special was perfectly grilled with loads of healthy vegetables. My sis ordered the Lemon Verbena cocktail and it was super surprising. Appreciated the friendly attentiveness of our server, Chelsea.

Yelp
8 of us were looking for a dinner place the Friday of Memorial Day weekend and in walking around town found this restaurant was different from most others as there were lots of tables available and no waiting to be seated, so we sat down and ordered. The food, from burgers to wraps and burgers, were all good and at fair prices. The service was also good and there was no problem with getting four separate bills for the table, one for each couple. The ambiance was unique in the sense that they had large images of food and drinks available. After eating there we couldn't understand why this restaurant was way less crowded than nearby restaurants and would definitely recommend it if you're in Moab.

Yelp
excellent service , fabulous homemade, fresh salsa, delicious, clean, simple healthy food, great light kombucha not too sweet not too sour, nice selection of smoothies and juices, the most perfect, deepest , darkest espresso and lunchbox options for hikes and travel . definitely coming back.

Yelp
Comes up as one of the best brunch spots in town on multiple. The atmosphere was great, with live music. Then the menus... no breakfast. No brunch. Nope they stop serving that at 11:30am, we were 30 minutes late. What is this McDonald's? Huge bummer. We ordered lunch, here's the break down: Shrimp tacos: shrimp were cold flavorless tiny shrimp, the tortillas were cold and split apart. The mango salsa was 2/5, guac 4/5 but it was old. Oh and lettuce was old and wilted. Chicken nachos: 3/5 bland, bits of cheese were hard from the microwave? (we ordered no onions due to allergies and they came with onions. They redid them but used onion powder on the seasoning. They were great for at least trying though and re-did them). Chicken tenders and fries: 2/5 the fries were good, the "tenders" were pretty bad. They were not actual chicken tenders, it was the processed goo they use in cheap chicken nuggets. Disappointing for a "health conscious" place. Smoothies: for $12 they were ok 3/5, nothing to write home about. 1 star for the nice ambiance and the waitress was nice (she ditched us for 30 ish minutes)Food-wise it was a big let down, most of the food ordered was not eaten, do not recommend.

Yelp
Breakfast was so good and clean! We stopped here after packing up our campsite. We ordered the cinnamon french toast and the coconut french toast with coffee and a glass of their fresh squeezed OJ. It was quiet and the patio was cool to sit on early in the morning.

Yelp
First night in Moab ~ this was a great ending to our day. The Beet salad was a winner for me with red and golden beets and cilantro lime vinaigrette. Their Jolly Green Giant smoothie was thee best smoothie I've had. It was creamy without any the feeling of ground up ice or grittiness. My husband loved their quinoa bowl. This one is a must do on my list.

Yelp
If you are in MOAB, UT this is a must try! Moab Mind Fuel is very refreshing! Great customer service!

Yelp
We stayed at the Best Western for two days, one of which we had to have our truck worked on... but that another story. We found ourselves walking around town for a day and tried Gloria's. First day, we all got burgers and kids go smoothies... Adults got margaritas, after the truck issues - they were needed. No one was disappointed! Fries are delish, burgers are pretty big (we split). Smoothies hit the spot! Second day, everyone got wraps. Both days, we ate on the patio. Tables were clean, misters were on to help with the heat and service both days was great. We again stopped on the way out for French fries and smoothies to go. We had burgers at another restaurant in town (which will remain un-named) they weren't nearly as good. Go enjoy!
google avatar

Yelp
Got takeout while in town on a road trip. Food was fresh and tasty, was ready extremely fast. Appreciate them being open on a holiday, needed a quick option while traveling.
google avatar

Mario E.

Yelp
This place probably stands out as you're driving through the town, so indeed we had to stop. We were seated immediately and were able to sit outside. The staff were very friendly, and the food was prepared quickly. If you're looking for something quick, tasty and basic this would be the place. I ordered a wrap with French fries. It had no presentation, literally a white plate with a wrap cut in half and a hand full of fries thrown on the plate, no garnish or anything extra. I felt like i was having a kids plate but don't let that fool you, the turkey bacon cheese tomato ham wrap with cilantro sauce was so good! I did have a Malbec wine...poured into a regular short glass rather than a wine glass which was odd but it is what it is...still tasted the same. lol check them out def got busier as we were dining.

Yelp
Gloria's is one of my favorite spots to eat in Moab. I was actually blown away with how amazing this spot was and I am a bit shocked it wasn't more packed during my trip to Moab. It was so good, that I visited twice during the same visit down to southern Utah. I was needing a place to get some work done but I also wanted something delicious and unique. I didn't just want a mediocre fast food burrito or a side of eggs and bacon. I went on the hunt, and found Gloria's. They seemed to have a diverse menu with lots of yummy options, so I was excited to check it out. I visited Gloria's during the evening and opted to sit outside on their patio. There was nobody else out on their patio when I arrived, which was shocking because this patio is CUTE. It has string lights up above, they have heater towers, and they have an awesome view of Moab Main Street. Another thing that I absolutely loved about Gloria's is that they also offered Wifi! This was great to utilize while I was eating my dinner, as I was able to get work done. I immediately knew I wanted the chicken caesar wrap. It looked absolutely delicious and was practically screaming my name. Basically, it was chicken, romaine lettuce, croutons, shredded parmesan cheese and caesar dressing wrapped in a spinach tortilla. I was a bit unsure how all of this would taste together in a wrap, specifically the crunchy croutons. However, it all paired perfectly together! The entire dish was delicious. With the chicken caesar wrap, I also got a side of fries with ranch, which was a great addition to the dish. They also had a special margarita that was calling my name. It was infused with hibiscus. Sometimes, I like the idea of a margarita more than I like the margarita itself. It wasn't the bartenders fault. I have nobody to blame but myself. But it was a bit sour for my liking and I wasn't the biggest fan, but again, to no fault of anyone else. The chicken caesar wrap ran me about $15 and then the drink was another $10ish. They were both good and I liked that I could order and check out through a QR code on the table. The second time I visited Gloria's, I ordered their strawberry twist. It was absolutely delicious--I am so glad I ordered it. The strawberry twist came with strawberry juice, pineapple sherbet, strawberries and bananas. It was $7 for a 16 ounce drink or $9 for a 24 ounce. The service was a bit rough. Like, the worst I had during my entire visit to Southern Utah. I love the idea of the QR code but it also gets frustrating when you basically get ignored because of this. My first visit was quite a bit worse than my second visit. I was sitting on the patio and had checked out, but was hoping for a box. The server working the outside tables didn't check on me once, and then tried to push me out, by stacking chairs on the table I was sitting at. It was a pretty rough experience. The second time, I think the guy serving me meant well, but I had to find him in the bar after waiting outside for over 20 minutes for my bill (the order wasn't through the QR code). All in all, the food at Gloria's was absolutely incredible but certain people that work there could be quite a bit nicer. I mean, I can handle quite a lot but she was almost physically pushing me away. I love the vibes and the food was delicious. I hope to have a great experience if I return again!

Yelp
The Cuban sandwich was a decent version, a bit too heavy on the sauce and the fries were meh. The Sweet & Salty Beet Salad was just okay. Details matter: they offer Hunt's ketchup over Heinz. Most restaurants do this to trim the bottom line, but there is a taste difference. What took them to a lower level is the low grade French's mustard in PACKETS. Come on Gloria you're not a truck stop! I enjoyed my Kentucky Mule cocktail, the serving cup made a positive difference. Service was good and the manager/owner walked the floor which is always nice to see.

Samantha R.

Yelp
Very cute place with amazing service! Our server was awesome and made great recommendations. It was only their second day of being open for dinner, so menu was a little limited. Overall though, the food was very good and would recommend!

Yelp
We came here for a late lunch around 2:30 and there was plenty of seating. Good menu selection. It was also nice to see a good selection of gluten free and vegan options. We ordered the fish tacos and quinoa bowl. The fish tacos were very good. Good amount of fish, cabbage mix, and avocado. The quinoa bowl was also good but a bit on the spicy side for me. I didn't see anything in the description that would alert me to spicy ingredients. But the creamy almond dressing is a bit spicy. The prices for the entrees were fair but the prices for their smoothies and juices are on the higher side. Despite the high prices I did get the Sweet Green juice cause it sounded good and it did taste fresh. Service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere of restaurant is casual and comfortable. Would recommend especially if are gluten free or vegan.
