Here Are the Next Great Food Capitals of the World — and Why You Should Visit Now

"Run by chef Rosie Healy, who trained under Ottolenghi, this restaurant brings confident Mediterranean flavors to a once-derided Glasgow dining scene and exemplifies the city’s recent culinary diversity." - Laura Itzkowitz

3 Best Day Trips From Edinburgh | Condé Nast Traveler

"Rosie Healy, a Yotam Ottolenghi alum, is behind Alchemilla, a bright, cheerful restaurant in the buzzing neighborhood of Finnieston. You’ll see Ottolenghi influences on the menu, sure, but Healy has developed a charisma of her own. Her modest Mediterranean shared plates pull from the season’s best crops, and the menu is forever changing because of it. The result are dishes that highlight the true flavors of their components: shaved kohlrabi with fennel and herbs; cauliflower, tahini yogurt, and pomegranates; salted onglet with pickled mussels; and hazelnut meringue atop lemon curd." - Danielle Bernabe

A definite 5! Food was delicious - fresh med ingredient was key, though the day’s special sardine clearly has to be sourced from locally. Wine selection wasn’t vast but super on point. Staff are welcoming, making you feel home and know their sources!

Really great food, some unusual combinations that we have not had before that really worked. Service was attentive and some good wine choices, a relaxed atmosphere and busy enough for a Tuesday night to give a lovely atmosphere….. this was recommended by where we were staying and they were correct a great find.

Guys the food was really good but what really got me was the fact that they kept moving the board with the specials around. Like when we got there it was sitting on our table and then they moved it to the back area and then moved it to like three more places before settling on a resting spot right next to the iPad where actually no one could read it. I would love to know the thought process behind this placement and why they won’t just hang it on the wall. I guess the wall was taken up by abstract art made by an artist who probably describes themself as ‘free spirited.’ Anyways I wish I got to look at the specials but instead we stuck to the regular menu like regular people. The lamb and the panna cotta were delicious

Insanely good food all round. Highlights were: the homemade ginger beer, perfectly zingy without blowing your head off; the focaccia which was super fluffy with a great crispy edge; and then the squid tonnarelli pasta… this was life-changingly good. Perfectly emulsified sauce, with chilli and parsley, with thick rings and slices of squid throughout, all to be mopped up with some focaccia. We were blown away - can’t wait to go back.

I am very picky with reviews. I will only do it when the place has either been utterly brilliant or totally absymal. Gloriosa is the former. So chilled and such a lovely, spacious interior with cool music playing. Beautiful high celings and big windows. And the staff, every one of them, were accomodating, kind, and they actually smile (not enough smiling going in these days). The waitress wasnt a robot all dolled up with fake makeup and eyelashes. She was just a nice, normal woman who listened and wanted the best for her guests. Food was 10/10. It didnt stand out as anything more than what it should be after everything that came before. Exactly what I expected from such a wonderful place and experience. I will definitely be back. Thank you. Oh - almost forgot because even if it was overly expensive, it wouldn't really have mattered but really decent prices too!

I dined solo so I could only order so much but everything was so delicious and I love the space, open and bright during the day. The focaccia and pasta blew my mind. So tasty!

Very disappointing. I was quite looking forward to try out this restaurant but it turns out to be not good. The food are just way too SALTY and it burns my throat. The salads are careless( even with water in the dishes) and the pasta is way too raw(the dill wasn’t used properly in that dish). The cream of the dessert tastes cheap and rough. These dishes look quite decent in my camera but taste really bad.

Gloriosa is a culinary delight of simple goodness. Honest , fresh and healthy food. The focaccia is to die for. I couldn't fault any dish in any way. Presentation, taste and portions 100 percent satisfaction.
