My boyfriend and I were feeling like eating a gyro last night (honestly, we pretty much always are), so we tried out Glory Bound.
I've read that this is the relocated version of the restaurant -- it's on the strip, walkable from UA's campus. Parking is not amazing, but that seems to be the case almost everywhere in town. The restaurant is kind of tiny, with decor I'd describe as somewhat upscale bar furniture with a dash of hipster wall art. It was clean and pleasant. While the hostess was a little gruff, our waitress was very pleasant and accommodated the customization of my gyro very happily. She put us right at ease.
My boyfriend had the classic gyro (lamb and beef), and I had the chicken gyro, subbing out honey mustard with tzatziki and without onions. When it arrived, they called it a classic gyro with chicken, which may be how I order it in the future to avoid confusing instructions!
The gyros were pretty tasty. Fresh and light toppings in a fluffy and warm pita; they also struck the perfect balance with the tzatziki sauce. Not enough to make it soggy, just enough to have a little in every bite. The meat portions were generous and flavorful in both.
The fries were a bit of a disappointment. They're potato wedges, and as is the case with most potato wedges, they weren't crispy enough. However, the flavor was good. They also have a mixed drink menu with some unique creations that look and sound pretty tasty.
So far, we've tried Hooligan's on Hargrove and Glory Bound for gyros. Hooligan's has better fries and is more convenient for us; however, Glory Bound edges them out slightly for gyros. Not sure who we'll visit more, but I can confidently say I'd return to Glory Bound.
