Glovers Alley

"Set in a prime spot on the second floor of The Fitzwilliam Hotel, overlooking St Stephen’s Green, is this chic, elegant restaurant with subtle 1930s overtones. Pink and green hues and pretty flower arrangements bring a certain softness to the surroundings; in contrast, Andy McFadden’s cooking is characterised by boldness – both in its flavours and textures – and his experience shines through in creative, modern dishes which are skilfully prepared and artfully presented." - Michelin Inspector

Hopefully the photos gives you an idea on how amazing and delicious the food is. We had the seafood tasting menu and every single dish was sublime. The staff was very friendly and attentive and very detail oriented. Definitely recommend this place for a special occasion

Had a lovely evening at Glovers Alley. Food was exceptional staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the food. The woman sat next to us was very rude and obnoxious and couldn’t help but over hear some of her comments to one of the gentle men. Although she was very annoying he handled the situation with a lot of professionalism. Overall had a wonderful time.

I don’t usually leave reviews but felt it was important here to let the team know at Glovers Alley how good a job they did. From the moment we walked in we were taken care of in the fantastic setting of the restaurant. We had a 3 course lunch and it was exceptional. Can’t fault any of it. Head chef Andy came out and chatted to us for 20 mins which topped off our day and really made the experience. You wouldn’t get that in other restaurants of this caliber. Can’t wait to go back.

Thank you to the staff for a wonderful evening! I had to convince my husband to go to this restaurant because he didn’t like the look online of the interior. But in fact it was warm, cozy and full of mirrors. The colors of green, gold and pink really worked. The food! We did the tasting menu and the staff really took care us and my gluten intolerance. We matched a few wines which were fresh and unique (brilliantly chosen). My husband had dirty martinis which were perfect! We loved each and every course. Really felt the flow of the meal. Normally you like one more than another but we loved them all! At the end of the meal the staff shared a taste of the truffle honey, which was AMAZING! 100% would recommend

Great experience! Food was absolutely amazing and the staff as well. The wine recommendations were really on point and matched perfectly with the dishes I ordered. Would very much come back again!

Google
Overall a solid food experience with each dish having great flavours and impeccable presentation. You can see the work that has gone into each dish. The service was good, but for this level of restaurant, everyone seemed to be in a rush around the room. There was a lot of waiting with dirty plates in front of us, no offer of more bread, we wanted a red with our beef, but by the time someone asked, we had almost finished it. We had as good experiences at other restaurants, at a fraction of the price.

This review is for a visit on 5/1/24 Had an amazing lunch here earlier this year. The beet tartare was unique and better than most beef versions I’ve had. The John Dory was one of the best fish dishes I’ve ever had, cooked perfectly. Top class service and a scenic location overlooking the park. I can’t wait to visit here again!

Google
Exceptional experience. It deserves its Michelin star. The food and journey from start to finish was outstanding, pleasantly surprising in textures and taste. Plenty of Surprises along the way. The only fault was in the final meal for me. I got the tasting menu, pescatarian style and the last dish was quite bland. The sauces were exceptional but the fish was not as good. But my date got the meat brisket and Said it was some of the best mouthfuls of food he’s ever had. Ever. Could not recommend this place more highly for a special occasion! Get a decaf coffee at the end also for a lovely surprise.

Yelp
The details! I decided to indulge in fine dining during my Dublin visit, and was NOT disappointed. I made a very last minute decision to make a reservation at 12am the same day, and I'm glad I did. To start, Glover's Alley is absolutely beautiful. The details in decor are not something to skip over. I arrived a bit early for my 12:30 reservation, and they were not open yet- but I sat in the little seating area outside the restaurant. Even that area was beautiful. I was greeted by the individual who ended up being the sommelier. He was so knowledgeable, and even gave me recommendations for similar wines I could find in the states. I opted for the lunch tasting with wine paring, and it was worth it. Each course wad equal parts unique, with depth in the flavor profile, and stunning. There was only one combination I did not like, but I ate it nonetheless because the fish was so fresh and I would never think to mix those flavors together. I'll also say that I came here alone, and as a black woman doing a bit of solo travel, I felt very welcomed here. An absolute must try if you're in the area. Well deserved Michelin star restaurant!

Yelp
The menu nomenclature here is a little confusing, so let me break it down for you. "A la carte menu" means three-course meal, "Surprise menu" means four-course meal, and "Tasting menu" means five course meal. I don't know why Glover's Alley doesn't just simply label their menus by the number of courses. We chose the "Surprise menu" or four-course meal for €125. I think each dish was pretty good in taste and pretty to look at in presentation. There were different flavor combinations and textures, and it was evident that multiple cooking techniques were used. Usually with a €125 menu and only four courses, I expect somewhat larger portions for each course or one or two added intermezzo snacks between courses from the chef. Neither happened. I left feeling hungry (1 star off). The bread service was also disappointing (1 star off). The Parmesan bread roll was probably the best of all the options. The Guinness bread did not have any Guinness taste, so it was more like a regular wheat bread. The mini-baguette was cute, but so-so in taste. There was a fourth bread choice, a raisin bread, that looked...anemic...so I never tried it. I did like the butter -- it must have been the Irish cream that churned into such good butter! It's a little sad that the most memorable part of dinner for me was the butter.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants anywhere. I had a great experience a few years ago and finally had a chance to come back with a friend, it was as good or even better than I remembered. I went with the tasting menu, every dish was wonderful, complex and excellent flavor and beautiful presentation. Among the highlights for me was a beetroot dish with hazelnuts that was an incredible combination of flavors and a beef dish with foie gras, though everything was great. The two amuse bouche actually may have been my favorites. We also went with the wine pairing and I was impressed with the creativity, multiple wines from less common areas, including an orange wine. Great experience.

Yelp
Next level is correct. The lamb is unbeatable, and the hospitality is amazing. We were the first seating of the day, had the place to ourselves for lunch for a while. Highlights: the lamb was fantastic, the fish was great but it's hard to compare. The mayan gold potato was fun, and the black garlic bread was food for the soul. Skip the soufflé, and the scallops with foie gras was more like astronaut ice cream than we cared for. Bonus: gorgeous bathroom and a mirror-selfie-worthy ceiling!

Yelp
This Michelin star restaurant in the center of Dublin, housed in the Fitzwilliam Hotel, is quite lovely. The space is modern and beautifully decorated. The tables are nice spaced and smartly arranged. We started with the king prawns and scallop ceviche. Both were tasty and well balanced. The scallop was the star. The fish entrees were also cooked to perfection and stunning in presentation. The halibut was the star in my opinion. The bread selection is nice but not a wow. The French baguette and brown bread were mediocre. The truffle Parmesan roll was fantastic. They do a granita over yogurt as a palate cleanser which was unexpected and stunning. Desserts are works of art. The Ile Flottante was fluffy and delicious. The cheese course also did not disappoint. Service is attentive but not overbearing. Overall, the dining experience here is very nice. It doesn't have the pomp and circumstance of many Michelin star restaurants but the food and ambience surely match up to most fine dining experiences we have had. Would recommend and would return when in town.

Yelp
Just an amazing experience: Great service, great wine, beautiful design/decoration, and most importantly: Fantastic food. I got their Glover's Alley special prix fixe, not the daily prix fixe but their "best of the best" - and it was truly spectacular. I loved everything, but my favorite dish by far is actually available a la carte, their "Skeaghanore Duck, Carot, Date, Endive". The duck was cooked perfectly, and the Foie Gras was just pure heaven, maybe the best I've ever had, combined with the sauce every single bite of that dish was earth shattering. In addition to my carnivorous delights, my wife got the vegetarian prix fixe, and she also completely loved everything she ate. They did a really good job of both having several vegetarian dishes that stand on their own, and adjusting some of their popular dishes to vegetarian versions that were arguably better than the original dish! We did not do the wine pairing as we typically prefer to order a cocktail and champagne and then do 1 or 2 more glasses along the way. The sommelier helped us pick all of our glasses and we loved every single thing we had, all the way to a desert wine that was fabulous. The champagne they recommend at the start is absolutely worth getting as well. If you're in Dublin, this is a must-eat restaurant.

Yelp
The atmosphere, cleanliness, food quality, and food presentation was amazing. Staff service was a -1 for us, probably just an off night. Would go back for another go. Definitely get the scallops if they are still on the menu!

Yelp
Next level food. Outstanding service and hospitality. Huge thank you to Chef Andy for taking the time to introduce my son to his team and tour his impeccable kitchen. The highlight of our trip. Unforgettable.

Yelp
During our stay in Dublin we made it a point to sample the fine dining scene. Glover's Alley was our first stop on this food tour. I did the pick three a la carte, and my friend did the chef's surprise! I think doing the surprise menu is definitely the way to go. My friend got to sample several different things that were similar to the meals on the menu but slightly tweaked. Highly recommend the fish courses and the suckling pig! Those course were the highlight of our visit. Another plus for Glover's Alley is that they were very accommodating of allergies and had great substitutions for everything! Sadly while there were some amazing dishes, overall our visit was not that memorable compared to other Michelin star restaurants we visited in Dublin. Overall Glover's Alley was good. The courses left me satisfied, the drinks were delicious, the staff was extremely kind and attentive.

Yelp
I am not a fine dining connoisseur but I did make a visit here to celebrate my anniversary and it was an unforgettable experience. We arrived around 7:15PM local time and it was still a bit empty at the time which was nice to get a few pics in early on. Service was phenomenal - they really made you feel like you were someone important. We ordered a 7-course with wine pairing and was really all that we needed - we were extremely full and and struggled to finish our plates near the end but we did it. You can tell each dish really mattered and had so much flavor in every bite. Wine also seemed like it was thoughtfully chosen - my favorite was the wine paired with the tiramisu dessert. My favorite part was when one of our main courses followed with a fresh truffle grated in front of us. I still won't forget that smell. My boyfriend is not the biggest French-food fan but absolutely loved his time here and couldn't stop raving about it afterwards.

Yelp
What a great experience! We decided to splurge on one nice meal during our vacation in Ireland, and we figured a Michelin-starred restaurant would be a nice treat during our honeymoon. I opted for the chef's surprise tasting (7 courses), while my husband did the full tasting. Everything was delicious, and we both left very well-fed. The ambiance reminds me of something out of the Great Gatsby, and I've never been waited on by so many people all at once before until we went to Glover's Alley. The staff is so attentive, welcoming, and friendly.

Yelp
Spectacular multi course meal with divine service. When we arrived they asked about allergies and dining restrictions. They were very happy and easily accommodated a pescatarian diet. The meal started with two snacks that were innovative and tasty. The fish and veggies throughout the meal were cooked to perfection. The warm bread assortment was spectacular on its own but so appreciated to get every drop of the amazing sauces. The dessert, which is typically not a highlight for me, was amazing and a perfect end to a top notch meal.

Yelp
The food was fine for me but my husband who's is Vegan got short shrift on the tasting menu which was quite expensive. He was literally served the same melange of veggies and a crisp on top three times. No effort was made to create a vegan dish that was substantial enough to pair with the wines that were on the paired tasting menu. Service was spotty and we waited 45 min for dessert and our check which was quite high for the really paltry dishes in the vEgan tasting. So if you're vegan and even if you're not this place does not live up to the hype. It was our Anniversary and no special dessert was offered. That's unusual for a fine dining experience. I will say the Somelier Stefano was great and took lots of time with explaining the wines we drank.

Yelp
This is a great place to have dinner if you want it to be special! Service, food are top notch. The portions are small but delicious...and the main course was a surprise when the portion was generous. It's a little pricey but again make the occasion special!

Yelp
We ate in a number of Michelin one star restaurants in Ireland and this by far was the best of them. In fact, it was the best meal we had in our weeklong romp around Dublin and the Sunny southeast. Everything from the beautiful, creamy and imaginative chicken liver macaroons to the fabulous , thinly sliced beet tartar that enveloped a delightful package of savory goodness underneath. I'll have to say that the presentation of the food took a very unusual direction - in a very delightful and creative way that still made everything look so appetizing that you would love to sink your fork into it as quickly as possible after marveling at it. The service was impeccably timed and highly attentive, with very attractive waiters descending upon your table to explain the next delectable dish that emerged from the busy kitchen. Loved this restaurant to bits - we took the seven course Glovers Classics and wish that we had a printed, more permanent reminder of the specific dishes we ate because every surprise dish that came before us reinforced more and more why this restaurant rightfully deserves its star.

Yelp
We would rate this a 7.5 out of 10 it is a beautiful restaurant serving a nice tasting menu. The standout dishes that we had were the pigeon with the supplement of foisgras, there was a extra supplement that we added which was a cheese with micro green dish that was very good. They did not provide any petty fours The rest of the dishes were beautifully arranged but taste was just average/good night spectacular

Yelp
We were not able to get to our reservation because of Uber and taxis were not available-3 Uber drivers canceled- it was raining and I have some mobility issues. We called to let them know we running late and may have to cancel. We got a message saying to send email so we did immediately. They answered an hour and 45 minutes later saying to come anyway even though the policy says 10 minutes hold time. We canceled and they charges us $180 Euro, 90 per person as a penalty. Beware of this policy and the lack of understanding on the owners and management of this restaurant about cancellation.

Yelp
This is fast becoming one of my favourite places in Dublin. The food is always spectacular and the staff are always welcoming, personable and friendly. We were there last night and had the St Patrick's Day tasting menu. Now I'm not a fan of prawns...it's the texture. So I asked it there was a possibility of changing out the first course. The waiter brought the menu and advised I could choose any of the à la carte starters. So I had the beef tartare, while my partner had the prawns. Now I have never had tartare and had always wanted to try. I have to say that I will definitely be getting it in future. I cannot believe that I was so concerned about it. So fresh and beautiful. Then we had scallops and crubeen; which was a revelation. The number of seaweeds used gave such variety of tastes and textures. Next we had lamb done three ways, shoulder braised, a stew and loin. Then we had a blue cheese Waldorf salad and to finish was rhubarb. We chose the wine paring and the choice of wines we stunning. If you have the chance to go I would recommend to try this gem in the heart of Dublin.

Yelp
Excellent meal despite having high expectations. Fine dining. 11 people in our party. Everyone delighted with their choices. Venison and Pork belly excellent. Desserts were superb too. Tried them all between the group. Great service & pleasant ambiance. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Far and away a top dining experience. Every course was delicious and perfectly prepared. The wine list was meticulous. The staff was attentive and forthright. We asked for a slight change in the courses and they gladly accommodated our party. I cannot give Glover's Alley a high enough review.
