Gluten Free Specialties

I'm from Pittsburgh and packzi are all the rage this time of year, but I have celiac, and none of the gluten-free bakeries around here make gluten-free packzi. I came across Gluten Free Specialties on Facebook and ordered some of the raspberry filled and the custard filled. They arrived promptly - even after a crippling snowstorm. And they are absolutely delicious. One of the best pastries I've ever had, and I haven't even tried the custard ones yet! These packzi are definitely going to become an annual tradition for me!

The Pączkis were so good! I had been wanting to stop by and try this place since moving to the area, and they blew it out of the water. Being able to enjoy gluten free goodies always makes my day, especially since I moved from an area where it was harder to find.

I received my gluten free paczki today for Fat Tuesday and it was great! I ordered the raspberry with chocolate frosting & it was soft, not too rich, and I appreciated the frosting bring in a separate container.

Gluten-free options are fantastic. Everything from baked goods to soups to dinner dishes is delicious.

Stopped by to try the new cafe and the food was absolutely AMAZING. I got the Italian sub and fries and will definitely be coming back! The service was awesome too, everyone is so nice there :) A win for us gf people for sure!!!

Cookies and cream cupcakes and blueberry muffins were AMAZING. No way to tell that the cupcakes were both gluten and dairy free. Service was amazing in answering questions. The vanilla extract that they use also doesn’t contain any alcohol, which is awesome for folks who abstain from alcohol consumption. 5/5 for sure. No pictures because they were devoured 😂 Much love to this place! ❤️

The cafe is fantastic! The baked goods are delicious. I'm a single mom of three kids with celiac disease. It was so nice to dine out and not worry about cross contamination. We had cheeseburgers, chicken tenders, fries, a sub sandwich & bubble teas. Everything was made fresh and tasted incredible. Keep in mind that the cafe is only open on weekdays, but I think they plan to change that soon. If you or your family has celiac you must check it out. We will definitely be regular customers!

A celiac or gluten allergy dream come true! This place is dedicated to making delicious food and baked goods that are safe for everyone. Many of their items are dairy free too. Most items are made fresh and then frozen so you can defrost and eat when your ready. But sometimes you can catch items fresh out of the oven! When you remove gluten from your life and it's Fat Tuesday you enviously watch the others munching on those delicious looking paczki. You longingly think, wish I could have a bite! Well I have found the answer to your Fat Tuesday prayers....gluten free paczki! And they are so good you'll not be disappointed. They come in a variety of flavors (chocolate with custard is my fav) and you can preorder them in batches. They even ship them! I am also a fan of their brioche buns, they are flaky and yummy. Maybe you'll enjoy their homemade lasagna, mozzarella sticks, pizza, cookies, or bread. So much to choose from and all delicious and gluten free!

Love being local to this location! Super helpful when looking to get specific gluten free products baked goods. Their products are delicious and the donuts are the best. They are always open about their products and ingredients, and supply donuts to many cider mills locally. The manager is super nice and friendly too. Love supporting local!

I could barely give this GF bakery a 1 rating! Not only do they price gouge but the food is so terrible and bland you can't even eat it. The rolls I bought for Thanksgiving we're terrible,,, like eating sawdust!!!

Love, love, LOVE the cheese sticks! Everything we have ever picked up here has been delicious though. And it's the real deal - 100% Gluten Free! The Celiac in our family reacts to even trace amounts and has never had an issue here. The store is hidden in kind of a tricky location, but if you are Celiac or have gluten issues, it's well worth the drive.

For someone who is allergic to Gluten and now unfortunately dairy as well, this place was a God send for me!! So far everything I've tried here is delicious and I don't even miss the gluten! Things I've tried: *Donuts: cake like but good *Samosas: pretty good (dough is a little on the sweet side for me) *Ponchki(forgot spelling) best pastry I've had yet!! *Boston Creme Cupcake: it's dairy free as well and the chocolate glaze and custard are all on point!! *Brownie Sandwich: tastes like a whoopie pie, very light and airy and not too sweet! *Apple Cinnamon Coffee Cake: it's like an apple pie in cake form and it is perfection!! My hubby who's not GF/DF gobbled this down it was so delicious!!! Whether you have allergies or not, this is definitely an awesome bakery that will not disappoint!! And they're all also super nice and polite!! Try them out!

Come here for desserts and breads. Best gluten-free baked goods. The cinnamon sugar donuts are lighter and better than a lot of "normal" donuts I've have. Small place with great treats.

I try to be gluten free (just preference, no allergy) and my husband is a full-blown wheat head. Every paczki day I place a pre-order with Celiac Specialities because they make THE BEST paczki anywhere. I say this after trying 5-10 other local places for work and they are either dry, soggy, or just weirdly sweet. Celiac Specialties are well balanced, the pastry is fresh and tasty. I love the chocolate with raspberry filling or cream filling as well as powdered. They literally sell out on the day of and this year we were able to preorder on FB and pick-up which was awesome. The staff was really friendly and the prices are fair for GF. I love that this place exists and has such great products for GF and non-GF customers!

Mom got me a Chocolate Bumpy Cake for my B-Day and I less then impressed. It was wayyyy to sweet for me and the cake kind of fell apart. The cake turned into a pile chocolate crumbs when you tried to cut off a slice, weird texture. The fresh gluten free noodles weren't bad, I might be willing to try something else.

A great find in the Detroit metro! I have multiple food allergies and I'm celiac but also allergic to dairy and egg and there no egg options are amazing. If you have food allergies you can call ahead and the baker will work with you if you are purchasing a bulk order. I am not vegan but I am allergic to all forms of dairy and egg so to find a bakery that will work with me is wonderful. I'm fairly new to the Detroit metro.

Was excited about trying this place out and made the half hour trek to see how it was for myself. The pics from Yelp made it look so appealing. The ordered a loaf of their white bread, a turkey sandwich on their brioche bun and the custard dessert. The custard dessert was frozen and we thawed it out to eat it. The cake for the custard was a bit too hard and chewy for me. The Christine chocolate on top got stuck on the lid and came off with the kid when removed. I ended up just eating the custard out of after removing the top after a couple of bites. Was below average to me. Perhaps it would have been better freshly made? The sandwich wasn't bad for being on a gf brioche bun and their white bread isn't too bad for me what it is, not that such a statement is much of a compliment. I guess if one must eat gf this bakery is good in a pinch, but gf has much to go before I would be impressed by it.

This place is a life saver. I was diagnosed with celiacs a year ago at 25 and I am a very picky eater. This place offers all the entrees and desserts I thought I could never have again, and they taste delicious! I shared some with my family when they visited from out of state and they were surprised when I told them it was all gluten free, everything was a big hit! My FAVORITE are the cinnamon rolls, mozzarella sticks, and corn bread! I even sent my mom back to NJ with some hamburger buns because she wouldn't stop raving about them and she can eat gluten!

Stopped in to pick up some bread for my friend Santa who has Gluten intolerance. Had a wonderful time in the store. Met Priscilla and told her I was picking up a few things to take to Santa Russ. She was very helpful and set me up with what my friend normally gets. Even got a couple of things to try myself. Location was a bit hard to find. It's located on the Far East side of the building. Once you know where it is, it's easy to find

Came here for the first time today after hearing about it online. The donuts were the best gf donuts I've ever had! The owner, Priscilla, so so sweet and super informative. So excited to learn about this bakery. Can't wait to try their other food items!

This place is way over priced for cakes that look and taste like I could make at home and do a mich better job. I was hoping they would have something better than just plain cakes especially for the price

TREMENDOUS! You won't know you're eating gluten & dairy-free confections, just GREAT stuff!! Next time we're back in this area, we're bringing a cooler to bring more desserts & donuts home with us. (I'll update the review after we try out the shipping & hop on Facebook in a few weeks) Even if you don't require allergen-free food, it's worth the drive to come out try his bakery. Priscilla couldn't be nicer & the sweets more fabulous

If you're looking for a quick gluten- free staple in the area that you know you can count on for safety, this is it. It's a hole in the wall stop but offers better than average offerings in terms of taste, quality, and assortment (although admittedly scant). All are frozen. Not the best gluten free cupcakes I've had, but far from the worst. I give this five stars on a availability alone. Fantastic, and I mean FANTASTIC gf donuts!!!! When you have a craving for s treat and don't want to feel like some rejected outsider, give Celiac Specialties a shot- you will not be disappointed. I have yet to be in there when someone from 2+ hrs away is stopping in to "stock up". It's hard to find safe places for a celiac to eat....even in a metro area. So thrilled to have this as an option for a quick stop

This bakery is the absolute best!! The owner gives new meaning to "above and beyond" when it comes to customer service. Everything is delicious!

Amazing, just amazing !!!! A friend has allergies and a gluten intolerance this is where she shops and I'm now gluten free because her and this place. I've tried everything and it's all great, from the bread to the deserts. Their products are better then the things I've found at health food stores although they do supply some local stores. I'm glad we have this store in our area. I hope this place becomes nothing but bigger and better. Great Job !!!!!

So so SO wonderful! Finding places like this is a GOLD MINE! The gentleman at the counter was so wonderful, and helpful! They had samples so that you could pick and choose what to buy. I walked out with a big bag of treats that i didn't have to stress about eating. It was such a pleasant experience! I will definitely be frequently visiting to refill my tummy!

Great variety and delicious food! The bumpy cake is to die for! My aunt went this morning to pick up a cake today for an end of chemo party for my parents. When the owner heard what it was for she asked if we would like something written on it and then said she was donating it!!!!! Wow! Couldn't believe it. What a kind gesture!!

This place is great! My wife is allergic to dairy and can't have gluten, and this place accommodates both of those! The donuts here are amazing as is the "chocolate paradise cake". I can't remember the owner's name but she is ALWAYS very pleasant and ALWAYS offers fresh items when they are making something fresh in the back. Would recommend to anyone looking to satisfy a sweet tooth. They also sell gluten free breads and such.

We've ordered cupcakes from Celiac Specialties several times now and have never been disappointed! They were beautiful, and scrumptious! They are my go-to for cupcakes now for every event so that all can partake! Their location is convenient, too!

We buy the powdered gf, dairy free donut holes at a local store. OMG, they are so good. My son, who can eat gluten (ie Dunkin Donuts) goes crazy for these donuts. I have no idea how they make them so yummy and dairy free.

Gluten-free, dairy free friendly, and still tasty! They have any allergens clearly marked and make all their food and desserts from scratch.

This business has come a long way since they opened. The quality and texture of their items has significantly improved. This is a gluten free person's heaven. I can't remember the last time I had access to soft sugar cookies, donuts, and carrot cake. Those are just a few of their many offerings. They are also one of the only stores in Michigan that carry the gluten/soy free eggrolls--which are amazing. I feel that their non-branded pastas are a little overpriced, but you can't go wrong with their in house items.
