A New Parisian-Inspired Wine Bar and Dining Room Has Opened in Walthamstow | Eater London

"A new venue on Hoe Street (on the border of Leyton and Walthamstow) opened by the team behind a Clapton wine spot, notable for a large central table intended to anchor a communal drinking and dining experience. The space currently emphasizes natural wine service and plans to begin offering food in due course, following the local trend for central-table micro-restaurants." - Andrew Leitch

I've been in several times and the man who works here (glasses, beard) never fails to be spectacularly rude. He's got a Basil Fawlty level of contempt for the customers. Ask him a question and he'll either roll his eyes, or give a monosyllabic answer. Say "hello" to him and he'll ignore you. It's like he'd rather you shopped elsewhere, which is, funnily enough, what I'm going to do from now on. Shame, because the selection of wines is interesting, but at these prices you don't expect to be sneered at.

Amazing venue, the selection is extensive and the staff are super friendly. I have no complaints and would definitely recommend coming along.

Gnarly Wines is an absolute gem. Fantastic knowledge & exquisite beer, wine & spirits across a range of budgets. The garden bar at the back is perfect for a snack, a by the glass offering and some serenity. You can even order in Yard Sale pizzas. Scott and the team are always super friendly and really take time with you to ensure you get that great drop. Can't recommend this place enough.

I went today to buy a bottle of wine as a present. I asked for the wine the man working there was rude and made me feel unwelcome. He made a judgement and told me the wine was expensive. I asked how much and said yes I wanted that wine he seemed surprised I wanted a wine at that price. Not a good experience.

Gnarly Vines has got a wide selection of organic and boutique wines which are accessible through online ordering and free London delivery. I've used them several times to pick up a new bottle or two and have benefitted from their great customer service, which is responsive and helpful. Suspect Gnarly Vines will be my go-to wine merchants in London for years to come, such is their selection and helpfulness.

If you are looking for some natural wines to try out, producers you never heard about and everything natural related this is one of the places in London with the best offer in my opinion. Western and Eastern Europe wine countries and some of the New world producers have been mapped out by the guys at Gnarly Vines. The selection offered is great! You can order online or visit the shop. They serve food!

A new and welcome addition to our local shops, Gnarly Vines is a great place to find good wine, helped by knowledgeable staff. Added bonuses include Today bread (if we go on a Saturday), some really good cheese and the best craft beer selection in the area. It's 'you get what you pay for' in as much as it can be a bit pricey but the wines we have purchased have been excellent and I can rely on them for a great choice of beer. Plus there is that nice feeling of supporting a local business. Highly recommend.

There are wines there that are outside the budget of most of the area. That cannot be denied. But the big positive to me is when I have said my meagre budget to the assistant I've never got judgement or a lesser service. They were always really helpful. I'm born and bred Waltham Forest and have occasionally gone in dressed in just my tracksuit and never been greeted with anything less than a smile. To me that is worth a lot because I have gone into some of these new hipster places in Walthamstow and been treated really oddly as if I don't belong there. The wines are good. I couldn't afford to shop there on the reg but on special occasions over the years I've bought an orange flavoured wine, Marlbec, sweet Rose wines etc. They've always gone down well.
