Everything was so delicious. The gnarly fries were loaded and the flavor was incredible. The fries were nice and crispy and packed with flavor. The buddy sticks are also a must buy! They are really flavorful and the ranch was great too. The chicken sandwiches are top notch. Everything was great! I can't recommend this place enough. The atmosphere was also really cool. They were playing a black and white film on the wall, and had pretty plants and decor throughout. This is an awesome place to check out in Portland!

The burgers were delicious, and we would love to try more of them. The fries were especially unique and delicious with the crispy and curly texture and decadent toppings. Two burgers + a loaded fry was a little too much food for two of us, but it was worth it. The setting on the patio out behind the bar with our dog was nice and relaxed. Parking was a little tricky, but it wasn't too bad.

AMAZING FOOD! I’ve had two of their burgers and they are absolutely fantastic. The bun is fresh from a local bakery and the patty is well seasoned and flavorful. Chris and JAC are hard working and so easy to talk to. If you live further out in Portland, this spot is definitely worth the drive.

Customer service was 6/10 Location was a but hard to find Price was a little to high. I paid 34$ for one meal two sides and 1 shake. The cheese stick was 4/10 for me no flower very creamy The burger was 7/10 but too much barbecue sauce The fries was 8/10 well made The shake was my favorite out of all I give it 10/10. The food took 13 min to get ready. The portion was good. Overall all it was okay.

We drove by and noticed this food cart and decided to stop and get one last burger for the day. We didn't know what to expect, except that it's a take on the McRib burger. At first glance, the burger looks pretty simple, but after taking a bite of it, the flavors were in full effect. The burger is pretty tasty and very easy to finish. At the end, we found out that it's actually a vegan burger to our surprise. It's a pretty solid burger and a great burger for being vegan.

Located inside the Swan Dive venue, the menu is entirely vegan. Lots of seating, restrooms, and quick service. Both patty melt and SID burger were delicious but the fries were some of the best I've ever had!

GNARLYS is the BEST vegan burger and brunch in Portland. Period. Their fries are amazing, the burger patties wow even my non vegan partner, and their sauces are incredible. The ranch is sooo good. Today we tried their brunch for the first time and got the biscuits and gravy (the best vegan version I’ve had at a restaurant) and the french toast, and WOW. It’s easily the best vegan brunch in Portland. If you’re on the fence about giving it a try—don’t be. It’s simply the best.

The search for the best Vegan burger is over! I always have the Dang cheese burger with an extra patty and Bakon. I get a couple extra Dang sauces for the best french fries I've ever had. The Dang sauce is by far the best vegan version of Thousand Island I've ever had. You have to try the vegan Ranch also. I cut my burger in half and put Dang sauce on the burger. I also eat all the thin fries first and leave the thick ones to reheat them in the air fryer later with my extra Dang sauce to go. Gnarlys is by far my favorite place. Just tell the cook and bartenders you read this review and say "REX's review is why I'm here". All I ask is that you also leave a great review for GNARLYS also. Just wait until you see how cool this place is. There's a huge patio in the back with a firepit. The staff are all solid and genuine people too. GNARLYS is my favorite restaurant by far. I could have just kept GNARLYS my lil secret but the word is out because I can't keep such a great place to myself... and you shouldn't either. Guy Fieri needs to visit this place. It's that good. 🍔🍟🥤

Ordered a Loman and fries. Tasty sandwich for sure, and I knew it'd be simple based on the condiments, but I think the chicken patty needs some pepper or some seasoning because it was a bit bland. Next time I'd recommend getting one of their side sauces, both for the sandwich and to dip their OUTSTANDING fries (not that they need them). I even devoured some leftover fries cold and they still slapped. The bar (Swan Dive) this food window is in seems cool. Music was bumping and it was fairly busy on a Saturday night. If I were in the right mood I'd seem myself having fun there.

We recently had vegetarian nephews visit us from out of town. We wanted to find something yummy that they would enjoy. After reading Gnarly's we gave it a try. We thought we were going to a burger restaurant, but what we didn't know was that you have to enter through the bar, Swan Dive. Not knowing what the situation was for Gnarly's, we walked in and stood there wondering if we were to be seated or how they do it there. The bartender immediately jumped on us (in a not-so-friendly manner) about showing our ID. One nephew is 19, but we didn't intend to order alcohol. Finally he told us we could go in the other room but our nephew was NOT to go into the bar area. Ok, Ok! All we wanted were burgers! Our nephew was even afraid to use the restroom in case he wasn't supposed to be there. We assured him it was fine. The bartender acted like we were a big imposition that interrupted him chatting with some people sitting at the bar. So we sat down in a dim room with little signs on the table with QR codes with the menu, and you order like that. Yay. That kind of place. The music was very loud and they had a foreign film on 2 big screens with the sound off but subtitles. Cool...I guess? Our son & his wife joined us so we had 6 people trying to have conversation. We also had to pull tables together to accommodate all of us. But at least we didn't get barked at. Ok so I'm sure you want to hear about the food. If you can overlook the hostile bartender and ambiance (unless you like that kind of atmosphere-hey who am I to judge), the burgers were actually the best plant based burger I've ever had. We all ended up with the well-named Dang Burgers. Even a meat lover would love them. You couldn't tell the cheese was vegan (I totally disagree with the reviewer who complained about the cheese putting them off). These are no Impossible or Beyond Burger vegetarian burgers. I'm not sure what they make them out of but wow! They don't have tomatoes available so that was my only unfulfilled desire. The fries were beautifully seasoned, crunchy on the outside and soft & pillowy on the inside. All their burgers and sandwiches come with them unless you order ala carte, which I did. My husband had plenty of fries to share with me. In fact we didn't even eat all of those. We only saw the person in the back when he brought our food to our table. We had to ask for ketchup, so I guess he came to our table twice. That was the extent of the service. I might be persuaded to come back. But only for the burgers. If you live in SE PDX, get takeout maybe? I struggled with how many stars to give Gnarly's. One for service/staff, 2 for ambiance, and 5 for the food.

WOW. Very impressed, excellent burger and fries! Ordered the Dang burger - Tasted very fresh and had good flavor. I'm not even vegetarian or vegan and I thought it was good!!Definitely will be coming back, and bringing my vegan & vegetarian friends . Good service and vibe, beautiful plants too! (Sorry no pics bc ate and then realized I hadn't taken any lol)

Gnarly's does it again!!! My kids needed fuel after a long morning at the Arcade nearby and Gnarly's delivered in every way. I'm NOT a fan of BBQ but the Gorilla Fries were absolutely delicious. I don't eat like this often but if I do it's GOT to be Gnarly's. I have found MOST vegan "junk food/comfort food" to leave me with a seriously upset stomach. And I've NEVER had that issue with Gnarly's. Not laden in grease and clearly whatever patty they use IS NOT Beyond because that's the worst on my tummy lol I usually order ahead and it's perfect to have your food ready!! I definitely LOVE Gnarly's!

The reviews were super promising so I was so excited to try this place. I'm vegan, so I decided to come here with my wife. It is a 100% vegan menu, so that part is great. I got the Buff Boi & fries, and added cheese to the burger, but I genuinely didn't enjoy it. The taste of the cheese threw the whole burger off, and the rest of it wasn't very good anyway. The fries weren't great. We got a side of Buddy's Stix and the cheese used in those wasn't very good either. Again, we came because the reviews were great, and maybe we came on an off day, but I really wasn't happy. My wife didn't like her meal much either. The women's bathroom was covered in cobwebs, and the restaurant itself was pretty beat up. Very nice employees though.

This was on my list of places I wanted to try sometime and finally made a delivery order. We were so excited because we like making the vegan choice and we like it still being delicious. My partner actually forgot that it was vegan because it was so decadent and fully loaded. The prices were fine with me and the food all arrived in great shape. Chicken sandwich on Texas toast, awesome fries with all the toppings - what's not to like?

As a vegan I generally don't always order burgers as it's offered everywhere but I'll say I'm SOOOO happy I ordered from here. Casual food truck and it hit the spot. I got the sallyweaver, messy but the taste was on par of you like a bbq burger. The ultimate was the in house made ranch with the fries! I couldn't get enough and I wish I had gotten loaded fries. I will definitely be back. I was also happy they had gluten free buns and fries.

This is going to be non-burger review.. I was excited to check out Gnarlys when they announced they were going to try their hand at brunch. The items included biscuits and gravy which always has me piqued - this is an item that should be naturally vegan in my opinion! We got coffees, the cinnamon roll which is the best I've ever eaten, benny & potatoes and biscuits & gravy. The benny as per the husband was in the top five he has had - this is high praise since he is not vegan! The fact that this measured up to all the conventional egg benedicts he has had should give you an idea about how good this was! The biscuits and gravy was finger licking delicious (picture of empty bowl attached). The cinnamon roll has since given me a cinnamon roll obsession that I know won't be fulfilled by subpar rolls elsewhere! Having had this brunch which was their first attempt at it, I am so excited to try out everything they make! I've always maintained that vegan cooks are some of the most talented in the field - and this place is proof!

Seriously the best vegan burger and fries I've ever had, and I've had a LOT of vegan burgers! I was debating over whether to even come here because it was a nasty rainy day and there's not really a covered area to eat. I'm sure you're supposed to grab food and take it to a local brewery, but it was Tuesday and a lot of the breweries were closed. Well, I'm so glad I went out of my way to try Gnarly's! The plain "Dang" burger was AMAZING! Everything from the bun, pickles, special sauce, to the crispy salty patty was perfect. The fries are super unique: they're an interesting cross between steak fries and curly fries and were seasoned so well with lots of black pepper. I placed an order online on their website. The process was really convenient, and it was ready exactly on time! The prices seem to be about on par for Portland. The burger was $11 and a large fry was $6. In hindsight a small fry would've been a large enough portion :) Another note is that the shakes are specials so they don't have them every day. Gnarly's is a must try while in Portland! Just scope out a nearby brewery where you can enjoy your meal if it's not a nice day out -- or get delivery!

Big fan, lives up to the hype. Best burger's I've had, and super unique fries: Peppered curly, wedge fries married. Perfectly fluffy, strong potato flavor, and you can get them loaded if you want extra happiness. Always very fresh! Good service, and the vibe is cool.. only con is the parking at this location on Grand, inside Swan Dive, is a little limited and tricky. Parallel parking on a busy road. But the minor efforts will be rewarded by if not THE, one of the most delicious burgers you've had. Hope they can lock down a brick and mortar location some day.

I've been here at least 4 times since I found this place! If you're craving what you would have at like that secret place only locals know about that's a hole in the wall burger dive who has the best burger in town, this is it. And for my SoCal people, think In-N-Out meets Big Boy Burgers. You pick your burger, your fries and a shake if you're feeling fancy--day made. Come here after a hot tub soak for a special treat. The owners are super rad and they do a lot of things in service to our houseless neighbors. Just good people and amazi burgers.

100% vegan and soooo good. Vegan burgers don't get much better, really. Gnarly's is taking burgers and fries to the next level with excellently executed vegan versions of patties, cheese, bacon, ranch, etc. You might be tempted to skip the fries, thinking you've had loaded fries before and get the idea. You've had In-N-Out special sauce. But don't skip it. These fries are full, thick-cut circles of potato, perfectly fried. The sauce is so delicious. I don't know how they do it. Highly, highly recommend.

Food was awesome! The purple color truck was easy to spot and a lot of parking on street Parking when we went. We got 2 burgers, loaded fries and 2 milkshakes. This was a lot. We finished the burgers, and barely could eat the loaded fries and drink milkshake but it was all very good. There was no one before us, it took about 15 minutes to get our order ready. We didn't want to eat the food by the food truck on that street so went to a park nearby.

Best vegan burgers anywhere. Period. Cannot recommend enough to anyone regardless of diet.

Worth the drive out to the Core food pod in Lents. There is a parking lot so you can keep an eye on your car. Clean bathrooms, indoor dining hall for when the weather is typical. This might be one of the best vegetarian burgers I've had so far. And I try them all, so that's a considered opinion. Great mouth feel, excellent flavor. The sauce in particular stands out - a little sweet, a little tang, just right. I love a sesame seed bun - this one hangs in there barely long enough then the insides start getting on your hands. Just like it's supposed to be! The "fries" aren't typical shoes strings, but they aren't wedges either. Kinda thick spiral cuts, seasoned just right. You can get them loaded with all kinds of stuff, but I had them plain this time. Loved them. Lots of other choices. Vegan, so you can rest easy. See ya there.

Came here for the thundergun on a Friday afternoon, and there was no line, which was awesome. The woman working the register was friendly and talkative, and the vibe was cool. We were able to sit outside in the shade, which was a perk, and it seemed like there was a good amount of seating. Our "burger" came out quickly, which was nice. The burger itself, tbh, I was hoping for more. I didn't realize it was a vegan burger, the non-meat patty was actually pretty flavorful and juicy, and after finding out it was vegan, i was pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately, there was just waaaay to much sauce. I'm of the mindset that mayo shouldn't be used unless absolutely necessary, and they not only used it, but the sauce appeared to be a 60/40 mix of Mayo to BBQ sauce. It was so overwhelming that it completely killed any flavor the onions or pickles would have provided, and I was only able to taste the patty after cleaning off the sauce. I really think a BBQ sauce alone would have provided much better flavor and complimented the rest of the toppings better. I don't feel right giving them three stars for a burger week burger, but I can't give the full five.

Just wanna make it clear: food great, service was an entitlement-laden joke. BS QR code ordering - which would be acceptable if it wasnt expected that you leave the same 15,20,25% tip as you do for ACTUAL service. You bus your own tables...again, fine theoretically, but getting a bit more nebulous what the justification for that tip is, when you don't take my order, you don't bring me my order, AND you don't bus my order. But ALL of this scant service still wouldn't really grind my gears if not for the BS, piss-poor attitude this bartender / service people had. I'm not even going to go into too many details, but they we're friggin ridiculous. Like, pretending not to see you and just keeping their backs to the bar when I go up TO TRY AND ORDER A DRINK, finding it too difficult to grab me ketchup for our table. "At the end of the bar!" NO, it's NOT there, so why don't you do your job and grab it! Again, cool if people want to be lame ass employees, but who TF do these people think they are, exercising their NOT-quiet quitting, doing a bullshit job and asking put out if a customer politely ask where something is or whatever...and then we're just supposed to tip their ass 25% because it's the norm!? Btw, I do not ever have the nerve to actually not tip them - and usually leave the standard 20% - but I'm getting tired of this arrogance and presumptive behavior. People talk about how hard restaurants are and I don't doubt it...that said, I'd be curious how those MFs would last at, i dunno, a warehouse where you're lifting endless 50-75lb boxes with basically no breaks, NO tips, and the most abject disrespect you've ever seen to keep you going. Lose the attitude, as you stand behind that bar getting paid double what I ever got in that warehouse for pouring people drinks and acting like an above-it-all dick. Seriously, I never even leave reviews, but this prick really pissed me off...

I had the pleasure of trying out Gnarly's via Uber Eats when my husband and I were visiting Portland. The food was delicious! Absolutely one of the best burgers I've had. Period. I had the paddy's melt and OMGfry, and my husband has the big salad and fries. My husband and I didn't even get through finishing our burgers yet and agreed that we need to come back the next time we're visiting. Vegan or not, Gnarly's is a must try! If I lived in Portland, I definitely would be going here at least once a week because it's that good. Can't wait to drop by the Swan Dive next time and grab a shake as well :)

They don't explain they are vegan on mobile apps. The potatoes are good but the "burgers" taste rotten. I always wondered why the "beef" tasted off. One star, at least be proud of the food you serve. If they said they were vegan on uber eats I would have known to avoid them.

This burger was absolutely amazing! We truly enjoyed our burgers! The taste was fresh and you can tell that the "meat" was different than most in restaurants. The flavors were rounded out perfectly and the service was cool.

Quality veggie burger and fries. I came here on a rainy day, and the best part was the Breakside beer cart next door - beer, fries, and a dope veggie bacon burger on a rainy day - score. The burger was good but the bun was a bit dry and crumbly. The fries were tasty but I read so much hype about them, that I didn't see the point, and 90% sure they're just store bought and fried. I would eat here again in the area at this pod, but won't make the special trip again, especially for the high price.

This is the best vegan burger I've ever paid for. I didn't even stop eating to take a picture. Got the bbq burg and the jalapeño, both were fantastic. Next time I'll try the fries.

great location! there's a large patio area shared with ecliptic brewing's moon room. the front window person was very nice and also wearing a mask! and i believe the owner is a POC who supports QT peeps, all super awesome pluses. i got the s.i.d. burger and my partner got the dang burger. one of the best vegan burgers we've had! pretty saucy/messy, so next time i'll ask for sauce on the side. we got a large order of fries, and dang you could share it with 3-4 people! but fries were crunchy and soft at the same time. i'm definitely coming back!

... this food is mind blowing. You would never know it was vegan if you weren't told. I, myself, am not strictly vegan but my cousins were which is why we went. We sat outside in a nice shaded area and devoured the food! So good! I will be back again on my way through Portland

Gnarlys (with no apostrophe) is the best burger spot in town. I struggle to decide what to eat when I get there because everything is so dang good! I've been here more than a dozen times and have grown close to the members serving at the cart. They're always sweet to my toddler daughter and are oozing with charm? Grace? Sophistication? I LOVE that Gnarlys always features fun specials and rotates the milkshake flavors. It keeps me coming back for the next fun thing. Speaking of which, Gnarfest was totally rad and we should do it again. Love Ecliptic Brewing Moon Room for you. The ownership is rad, the food is gnarly and delicious, the milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard, and all at an affordable price for the whole family. Keep being awesome!

Dang it we love these burgers and fries, favorite burgers in town I'd say even, but they're schedule is not consistent. Right now their website, yelp, and apple maps all list closing as 7pm, 6:15 and they are closed with no sign or anything anywhere indicating they closed early. This is probably the third time in the last couple months we have hit this wall and it's honestly so disappointing, just let me buy your burgers!!! I'll consider this relationship status as "it's complicated," bc it feels too one sided, like I love Gnarly's more than they love me (aka: their customers) and I think I need a break to let my heart heal.

Gnarly's you nailed it with flavor and figured out some magical vegan hack that makes your burger taste so delicious!! if I didn't know it was a vegan, I would never be able to tell the difference. I had the Dang burger and it was absolutely delicious. Boyfriend had the Thunder gun (aka McRib sandwich) and he liked it. My fav was definitely the burger. We also shared a Gnarlyfry and omg it was massive! Easily could share between 4 people. My bf and I were not prepared for how much food this was. Be warned, prob not the healthiest choice around, but if you're craving something naughty, this a must to appease your appetite.

I have been vegan for over six years, while my wife hasn't eaten animal products in over 12. We have enjoyed vegan cuisine in 49 states (minus Alaska) and all over Europe. With that said, this is the best vegan burger and fries joint thus far. The burgers Pattie's top "beyond" and "impossible." The fries are unmatched (yes even better than the fast food chains we all love.) The ranch, bbq, & 1k sauces are intoxicating. Even the pickles are on another level. This place has taken their time and created masterpieces. There is definitely a bit of LOVE in this food ‍

Holy guacamole! As a California native I have eaten my fair share of animal style fries. The gnarly fries are a million times better. The fries are super flavorful and sauce is awesome. We tried 2 burgers and they were also superb. I can't wait to come back. This will be my new go to burger place.

We came down for my sisters birthday, really unsure on which vegan place to hit up. Really glad we stumbled across Gnarly's. The fries are amazing! Seriously make sure you get one for each person. Burgers were super flavorful and delicious.

Really amazing food- when we visited we both had the patty melt and the sauce/cheese was amazing. My friend also had one of the milkshake and that was great too. There was no coconut-y or odd aftertaste. There's plentiful outdoor seating and it's connected to a beerhouse in case you want booze. Would return again.

Our burgers were so enjoyable! We had the biff and the dang and were just delighted at the textures and flavors! Fries were also great and the small was plenty for the two of us. We love drive-in style burgers and this satisfied the craving 100%. Thanks, Gnarly's! Personally, I also like that the containers were paper, not plastic and there was even a nice shady seating area that I'm guessing gets busy but was very peaceful when we went on a Friday afternoon.

Can I give it ten stars? Great bun holding a patty that may incline you to question if it is actually beef inside of it. Has mastered getting that major franchise "flame broiled" type of flavor. Smoky, savory, char, and toothsome. My meat eating buddy was in wonderful shock. From the time of sub par bean concoctions called burgers to the present we have crossed a threshold wherein meat substitutes can hold their own. The burger being served here is truly delicious and amazing. And the fries are not a second act but a co-star of equal billing. Curled, fluffy, spiced for flavor, and perfect. Probably the best burger fries combo I've ever had and that includes the animal variety I used to eat. This cart needs your business and deserves an award. Very nice and clean cart community.

From crispy onions, lettuce, and vegan cheese, to homemade ranch and bbq sauce. These burgers are sure to fill you up whether you like meat or not. Best loaded fries I've ever had! That's facts!!! Was bummed to hear that the tots were just a special thing but tbh the fries are actually mini wedges and they are PERFECTLY AMBER BROWN CRISPY. Yum.

Split spicy and dang with partner. Oh my f'ing hello so good. Perfect textures and flavors and yes yes yes. Cheaper than other vegan burger places I've been to (11 vs 17) and better. Quick and no line (possibly lucky there). Is what you'd expect for a food cart (limited ambiance).

I saw online they were having a sloppy joe special this weekend so of course I *had* to go try it out. This 100% vegan sloppy joe was SO GOOD! It came with fries - which they were out of - but we got tots instead and they were delicious. If you're looking for really great vegan food, don't miss out on Gnarly's.

First visit,, and we got the brownie shake and Newport Nightmare burger. The burger was delicious, but really, it was the shake's time to shine. It was fight-your-friends-for-it good. I could have ordered 3 of them back to back. I need to try every shake flavor now.

Holy **** ! The Newport Nightmare Burger I got was miles better than most non vegan burgers I've had . I woulda never known it was vegan to be honest. Everything about it was just done correctly . It's a bonus this place has a great fries . Their burgers are definitely top notch

Recently ordered from this place. OH MY GOD!!!! The spiral cut jo Jo's are amazing and the burgers are just as good. Will definitely be going back for more.

BEST vegan burger in the world!!! The loaded gnarly fries are also ridiculously good, don't skip those! This pod is sadly slow, so make it an extra effort to support these guys!
