Naperville’s Go Brewing Nonalcoholic Beer Taproom Is Changing the Way Customers Think About Nonalcoholic Beer | Eater Chicago
Born out of a personal challenge during COVID, the founder — whose father died from complications of alcoholism in 2006 and whose brother also struggled — and his wife abstained from drinking for 75 days, a period that led to a business idea. As the founder recalls, “I did not think I was going to make it,” Chura says. “In the first few days, I was trying to exercise and I’d run past bars and I’ve never felt more of a craving. Then I came home and I had a nonalcoholic beer and that craving dissipated significantly. I made it through the night, and the next day I did the same thing.” He found a shuttered cidery location and recruited a head brewer, James Bigler (formerly of Alter Brewing), who answered a Facebook job post and remembered the interview question: “Joe asked ‘Do you think you can make the best nonalcoholic beer?’ and I said ‘Yes,’” Bigler says. “I know that he’s going to do the absolute best when it comes to running the business and doing the marketing and he puts the rest of the production in my hands.” The operation began in a garage while the taproom was built out and opened at its Naperville address in 2023; it is now one of the only nonalcoholic taprooms in the country and distributes to about 20 states both direct-to-consumer and through major retailers including Costco and Jewel-Osco. After selling out during Dry January last year, the company stocked up this year and formed a joint venture with Lombard’s Noon Whistle Brewing to ramp production — a timely move, as Chura notes, “The craft beer industry is declining a bit, unfortunately, so a lot of these breweries now have more capacity than they know what to do with, so it was great timing in terms of being able to help them and help us at the same time.” Growth is rapid enough that that deal may only cover needs through the end of 2025; the company is expanding distribution to California and Texas and exploring hop water, THC-infused drinks (based on consumer feedback), and more gluten-free options. The brand launched with five beers and now regularly stocks about a dozen plus hop water, and has committed to releasing a new variety every month; its Beer of the Month club receives early test batches (January’s was a banana pancake stout). As Bigler explains, “The nonalcoholic consumer is still very much aware of the current craft beer trends and they want to see those things,” he says. “They want to try out everything, so I’m looking at what small brewers are doing to get ideas.” The taproom doubles as a community hub — hosting live music, improv theater and wellness classes such as breathwork, tai chi, and barre — and also offers a small selection of alcoholic beers from other local breweries, including Hop Butcher for the World and Revolution Brewing, because, as Chura puts it, “Nonalcoholic beverages still represent a very small fraction of drinking and we often find people in friend groups where you have a sober friend and a friend who likes to drink and we wanted to be inclusive to everyone.” The founders highlight health-conscious transparency (calorie counts are posted), and reacted to a recent U.S. Surgeon General announcement about alcohol and cancer risk with bemused confirmation — Chura says he “woke up to 50 texts with the general message of ‘turns out you weren’t a complete idiot.’” Bigler sums up the personal impact: “A lot of us have a problem with alcohol and it’s hard to have one or two drinks and then stop,” Bigler says. “This kind of breaks the cycle and keeps us from going down the hole of not living the life you want to live. I don’t even have to go to a party empty-handed.” - Sam Nelson
Made the switch this year to N/A beer, and Go Brewing has been the best I’ve found!
Pumpkin Beer season has always been my favorite, and not many brick and mortar places are offering an N/A pumpkin brew.
Go Brewing was offering their pumpkin online. I ordered 2 six-packs. I wish I had ordered a case.
Great pumpkin flavor. Wonderful smells. Fantastic!
Shipped fast and conveniently.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Also impressed with their other styles as well that I’ve found at Kroger.

Great Vibe, Decent NA Options
I don’t drink alcohol, so I was really excited to try the non-alcoholic brews at Go Brewing. While the selection was impressive, the flavor didn’t quite hit the mark for me—something felt a bit missing. That said, the vibe of the place more than made up for it! The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the seating setup is awesome—perfect for hanging out with friends or just chilling solo. I appreciate what Go Brewing is doing for the non-alcoholic scene and hope the flavors keep evolving. Would definitely come back for the experience!

Go Brewing stands out in a league of their own. A now retired glorified beer snob I quickly became a fanboy of these delightfully crafted NA brews. Disarm Hazy is my absolute favorite of any NA beer out there and Prophets Hazy is an honorable mention. If you’re looking for a standout NA beer, look no further Go Brewing will be your next favorite! Join the beer club and enjoy their whole lineup, they truly do an amazing job at hitting the craft beer taste in a non alcoholic beverage across all flavor profiles!.Give them a try for yourself

I’m SO glad I made it to Go while here on a work trip. I’m a new Go Brewing beer fan, found them at Wegmans in NJ. When I found out I was coming to town I Chicago I knew I had to make the trip out (easy train ride). The beers are incredible, the atmosphere can’t be beat - it’s cozy, beautiful, and you just want to hang inside forever! Also really cool, it’s a hybrid brewery… so they offer alcoholic AND NA options. So it’s great for folks looking to switch it up or for folks who choose to go solely alcoholic or solely NA!

This was my first time trying anything from GO. I bought the Freedom Amber, Prophets Hazy, Burn it down IPA and the Story DIPA. They were all pretty decent NA beers. The Story grew on me after my second one. I’m typically an IPA guy, both West coast and Hazy. The Freedom Amber ale has a very good unique taste. I got a Carmel Cracker Jack taste and i really enjoyed it more than any of the other. I will try other beers they offer in the future.

Every beer that I have purchased has showed up damage free and full of scrumptious flavor. I have not had one yet that I didn’t completely enjoy. I quit drinking almost 3years ago and by having this option to partake in doesn’t even make me miss the other. I figured out that buying a case of this beer and shipping it doesn’t cost much if any more than the domestic. I really enjoy the cans as well. I think the designs fit the taste of can content if that makes sense. Thanks for what you guys do.

Great first experience at Go Brewing! They have a full alcoholic brewery and a non-alcoholic brewery! So nice to be able to have NA options. We went on a Friday night and they had a live musician playing. Great atmosphere. I’m sure we’ll be back soon and eager to try more drinks!

I tasted GO Brewing at a beer festival. I was skeptical because I've always been a regular IPA guy. I have them a taste and was immediately hooked. Never thought NA could taste this good. I immediately joined there beer club and have it delivered every month. Best tasting beers around. Any skeptics give it a try and you will be hooked guaranteed. Cant wait to get to the taproom.

Yelp
When I was shopping in Jewel in Chicago and the O'duals was out of stock so we picked your product; SunBeam Pils.
It was a bit more pricey , but the flavor was delicious. It definitely tasted like a full body brewed beer. Bravo!

Yelp
First time coming here. Originally this was the Two Fools cidery that I used to enjoy coming here too until they closed their doors. I definitely welcome this establishment. Though they don't have hard Cider, they did have a sour that I enjoyed. This place has a great variety of non alcoholic brews which is a growing trend in the market. There's a small food menu as well
The manager (or owner) was really kind enough to take me and some colleagues of a tour of the brewery which was really cool and Intersting! This place also hosts to a variety of events as well. There's always something happening here, would highly recommend coming here.

Yelp
Fantastic NA choices! Same quality brews as other local craft breweries, but without the alcohol! My boyfriend and I each did a flight, and I loved all my choices. I'm not an IPA girl, and the brewmaster helped me select some choices. I won't go into super detail about each one, because they change the brews often. However, I'll mention these in hope they keep these around:
Sunbeam Pilsner: perfect for outdoor ballgames!
Head on Witbier: sip on a summer patio
Grapefruit IPA: tastes just like a grapefruit raddler, I want to drink this all spring and summer!

Yelp
We came here for the first time this afternoon. Cindy was bartending and she was great. We had a frozen pizza and it was actually really good.
Great N/A beer selection.
We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Stopped by Go Brewing after hearing that it was a non alcoholic brewery with all of the beers on draft. How cool is that?! The interior was very stylish and comfortable with traditional bar seats and then more chill sitting areas with couches and bar tables. The outside looked like a nice vibe too for a summer night. They also have a few alcoholic beers/ciders/wines for those who choose to drink alcohol.
I tried two flights and the ones that stood out to me were their Berry Sour, Street Cred Stout, Grapefruit IPA and the Sunshine state tropical IPA.
Definitely recommend for people who are NA beer drinkers, some of the best NA beer I've had!

Yelp
I love the taste of hoppy beer, but I really don't care for alcohol so this place is amazing. In my hunt of NA beer I kept getting pointed to Go Brewing. Even though I live in Florida they have a great website and you can order reasonably priced NA beer and have it shipped to your home. The order shipped for free and arrived via UPS. Today I had to try a beer for lunch so I had the Not Just Another Story Double IPA. Wow, it has all the juicy flavor and a bitter finish just like some of the great double IPA I used to drink. I also have the Burn It Down IPA, Prophets Hazy IPA and Freedom Cali Pale Ale: Crafted without Gluten. Once again packaged nicely, shipped for free with a $40 purchase. Last year I drank hop tea during football games, but this will game changing. Thanks Go Brewing!

Yelp
Go Brewing is an amazing company. Great mission and fantastic beer. I had a chance to check out a few things behind the scenes and the quality-control that goes behind their products is 2nd to none. All their products are great but right now I'm loving the Sunbeam Pils, Burn It Down IPA, and the Low-Alcohol Marzen on draft. Can't wait to try the new offerings on-tap. I also love how all their events are centered around growing as a person and improving yourself.
Shout out to Bruce and the team for putting together such an amazing atmosphere. I'm a fan for life.

Yelp
Sorry for all my typos in the first review. Gotta love swipe to text! Ugh. Anyway, seriously check this place out! I love that I can get the great flavor of a craft brew, but not the alcohol. The team is fantastic and will explain everything to you. They are always hosting events and are so welcoming!

Yelp
Go Brewing is the first of its kind- a low/non-alcohol brewery with a great-looking taproom. This is the perfect place to come with friends and family and enjoy a fresh no/low alcohol craft beer. My favorite is the Burn It Down IPA, there are many to choose from, even "full-strength" guest taps.
The sound and the lighting really put the performer everywhere- even the bathrooms :) and the outdoor patio is a great place to enjoy live music by the fire.
Sundays the place is packed with people doing yoga or people learning breathing techniques to improve their mental/physical fitness. And some days there are just as many bikes as cars! It's become a destination for many cycling and running clubs. They inspire me to be more active and health-conscious. And it's been fun meeting new friends through Go Brewing.
This is a place where people hang out with friends and family that isn't centered around alcohol. And I think that's pretty cool.

Yelp
I stopped by to check this place out. The atmosphere was great and it was very inviting. I'm a craft beer IPA drinker. Their craft beers were surprisingly hoppy and good.
This is a great place for a local band.
It's a place you can hang out with friends and enjoy eachother's company without the mess and worries of a typical bar. Greatjob Go Brewing!
I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Atmosphere and facility is tasteful and clean like a wine bar; not at all like a brewery. I get this place just opened but beer drinkers be forewarned. It's $15 dollars for three 4 oz pours/flight of 3 small tasters of 0.5 abv drinks. It tastes like bad beer flavored water. Pricing is *ridiculously* high.
Pricey $$$$.

Yelp
This is a great place. If you love craft beer without the alcohol, this is the place . Cindy is a terrific bartender. The beers are really great. Their stout rocks .pizza is good . I highly recommend this place .

Yelp
GO Brewing really emphasizes flavors in their non alcoholic beers. They offer tastes before you decide to try a full size. They have a nice little seating area and more space outside when the weather allows. The staff is friendly and the owner is very accommodating. I volunteer for an organization that has held there events there in the past 6 months. Two, featuring karaoke with a live band. It's fun, it's beer drinking and you don't have to worry about who's driving you home because it's non alcoholic. I'd say give it a try.

Yelp
If you are looking for a great place to go and have a NA beer look no further. Go Brewing has great beer and is a great place to hang out. Meet Joe and me made us feel very welcome.

Yelp
This place is a gem. The drinks are delicious and the venue is comfortable. Our work team enjoyed the change to an NA bar for a happy hour and I was comfortable they would be safely driving home. But seriously, the drinks were the star!

Yelp
I love this place! The vibe is great, fun atmosphere, and the best alcohol free brews on tap. So many fun events and a great community of people. I've been twice in one week and I can't wait to go back. The Burn It Down IPA was my favorite beer. Fun to see the taproom too! It can be a little tricky to find in the dark, so hopefully better signage is coming soon.

Yelp
I was here opening weekend and it was a pretty enjoyable night out. The live band was awesome and I had the 99 PROBLEMS SAISON as well as the BURN IT DOWN IPA which were both good. Would definitely come back here again!

Yelp
Amazing local NA/LA brewery with a lot styles on tap! I personally love the low abv Saison the most. Great sound system for the bands they have play there, and a really nice outdoor area.

Yelp
A very friendly and helpful staff. They suggested the perfect beers based on my taste preference. You can't go wrong with the IPA! Atmosphere is very laid back and chill while the live music was an unexpected bonus.
