On the Grid : Go Fish

"There is no competition for Go Fish anywhere else in the city - it is completely unique. Located on Fisherman’s Wharf, just off of Granville Island, they walk all of their seafood fresh and direct from the fisherman a few steps away - their menu is absolutely ocean to mouth. Though this small and hidden stand is an anomaly - their legendary popularity is completely based on word-of-mouth - they are pioneers of a number of trends, their stand is a shipping container, they were at the forefront of Oceanwise, and are arguably responsible for perfecting tempura batter. The fish and chips are incomparable, but the tuna burger with wasabi aioli and ponzu is incredible. Best part is your meal is served by a bunch of hooligans." - Arithmetic Creative

I have been here many times before, but just haven't been for a while. The prices have gone up since, but still rather reasonable for what you get. Food have always been good when I come and of course, this time is no different. 1 piece cod & fries ($15) 1 piece halibut & fries ($20) Drinks are canned. A great place to go on a sunny day and to look out at the water. Or a stop to make when you walk along the trail.

Authentic fish and chips! Absolutely local foods. Must try in Granville Island. French fries were delicious as well. Friendly service. Reasonable prices. Definitely will come back again.

Google
This fish and chips spot really hit the spot. The fish was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The fries were thick and tasty—yeah, they can be a bit greasy, but that’s kind of the point, right? Either way, they were delicious. The coleslaw was fresh and crunchy, a nice balance to the fried goodness. The outdoor setup was also a plus, especially on a sunny day. A great casual lunch option if you’re in the area.

Google
Just honest fish and chips with hearty bites. Not trying to be something else or more than what it is. Hard to find these in vancouver these days. Reasonable price especially for a restaurant so close to water

Google
A great, hidden gem right by the docks. The salmon tacone was amazing and had so much flavor! The coleslaw that was served with it was the BEST slaw I've ever had! I highly recommend and will be coming back to enjoy more of their delicious, fresh food!

We came 30 min before closing. There were not many ppl hence no line. We ordered salmon and chips, halibut and chips, and a char grilled tuna salad. The shop was closing and the chef offered us a cup of green curry soup with fish on the house. They were all so good and fresh. The staff was friendly and patient. The night views of the city skyline were amazing. We enjoyed our first visit.

Google
Solid meal, but portion is shrinking. I remember a big piece of tuna in their sandwiches. It now has turned into tiny bits of tuna that you can barely taste

Google
Lots of seating space. Perfect for a sunny day. Fish n chips. Place your order and take a stroll down the dock while it gets prepared. Food was delicious and cooked with heart.

Yelp
We were moored on fishermans wharf and walked by the good smells of this place for a few days before stopping in. We visited at 2pm on a sunny saturday. Was $22 cad for two pieces of cod and chips. My spouse and i shared the order and it was plenty. The pieces of fish were large and the fish was extremely fresh tasting, still slightly sweet. Batter was awesome, cooked hot and fast. The first few bites while it was still burning hot were as good as the best tasting fried fish ive ever had. Very Good! We werent as excited about the chips. I asked at the counter as i was leaving, the cod is flash frozen on the boat (as good as it gets) and they fry in canola oil. This is not healthy food but is really well done and extremely tasty.

Yelp
A summer time classic in Vancouver. It is definitely worth a try if you haven't been. Located right by the water, you're blessed with a view while enjoying your meal. The fish is super fresh and it is good quality fish n chips. The coleslaw is also surprisingly delicious. When we went, they did last call around 6:30pm. So if you're planning to go, arrive a half hour before closing time.

Yelp
This was so good. It is a stand on the trail by the water. I had the fish and chips, my friend had the tacos. All the food was outstanding. I watched a guy peeling and slicing potatoes for the fries! The food was cooks as ordered, so it is not immediate but it is quick and fresh. The outside tables are nice, and surprisingly the birds did not try and steal it. I should have reviewed the menu in more detail before I ordered, there are many things on there including some good looking soup that I missed out on. This place is 3000 miles from my home but I am already thinking of going back.

Yelp
My friend recommended this place and it did not disappoint. Compared to the prices on Granville Island, the fish and chips here are such a steal. The service was quick and friendly. The till had everything that you would need and more to eat anything on the menu. There's no indoor space to eat but nice to eat by the water when it's sunny out. I'm not the biggest fan of fries but they were very light and airy so I ended up finishing my whole portion. The batter on the fish is also airy and crispy. The fish was perfectly cooked. The slaw sauce is untraditional but still good. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I love fish n chips so I was really excited to try this spot! It's super cute and quaint, a bit tucked away along the seawall. Service is friendly and atmosphere is chill. I loved sitting by the water and enjoying the scenic views of false creek and Granville island. My friend and I both got the 1 piece cod + chips. Very well priced ($15.75) considering the portion size. I ate my entire plate and felt full and content. I do wish it came with a bit more coleslaw, but overall a solid 9/10 meal.

Yelp
Char-Grilled Wild Pacific Salmon Sandwich Oooo very delicious! There was a subtle smokey flavour that I liked about this. I liked how the salmon wasn't dry at all and the flavouring was nice too. My favourite part was kind of the bun though haha, I loved the texture and flavour of it and the way it was grilled made it even better. This also somehow didn't feel oily but I think sauce wise I might have enjoyed it if it had more sauce. I also wouldn't mind if they put some more of those pickles cucumbers on it Not relevant at all but I have no idea why I thought it was be like sashimi lmao! Anyways, the day I went their card machine broke down and it was cash only Make sure you carry cash just in case! I heard from others that there's usually a long line but maybe because it was cash only, there was no line when I went.

Yelp
Fish and chips spot on Fisherman's Wharf. Order the halibut! We got 2 pieces of halibut with 1 order of chips ($28) and a Coke zero. The order comes with a little serving of coleslaw and a small container of tartar sauce. If you want more tartar sauce, you have to purchase more for $1. There's a small parking area if you're driving. We walked over from Kitsalano/4th street area and then continued on to Granville Island after eating. Definitely recommend this shop! Just FYI, the Tap&Barrel Bridges also has fish and chips, and the halibut will cost about $33-34.

Yelp
I had to ask a local for the "fish place" location and he was impressed that I knew about it. He showed me and I was on my way like a shot. There were many choices but I stayed the course and had their popular fish and chips. I chose the cod, it was not greasy but meaty and the crispy batter took to the malt vinegar well. The chips were very tasty and plentiful. This is a fish shack on the far side of a parking lot with a patio. There are 5-6 people inside the kitchen and they love to banter with each other. It is a great vibe. My wife had the grilled salmon sandwich and loved it.

Yelp
Very very comparable to the famous one in Las Vegas owned by the Chef Gordon Ramsay. The breading here isn't as crispy but honestly the fish here is much much much better. There is outdoor seating and plenty of parking. Service was pretty fast and you get a view of the entire boating dock and Granville island.

Yelp
Very good fish with lots of chips! It's worth the wait. If you need to save money, order the 2 piece Cod and share. Plenty of fish and fries for 2 people. Great scenic spot too.

Yelp
Such a hidden gem in my opinion! First time at Granville Island and wanted some nice fish at a reasonable price. Prices at the market were kinda steep so I found this place online. About a 10 min walk from the main market, it's a little shack serving delicious fish and chips beside the docks. I got a piece of cod which came with beautifully thick cut fries, coleslaw, and tartar sauce. All for under $16! What a deal!! I liked how the fries weren't seasoned because they had an array of sauces to dip them in (ketchup, hot sauce, vinegar). Plus the fish was flakey and kind of firm. Simple but so delicious! Service was friendly and efficient, presentation was also super cute. The only downside is no indoor seating ! They'd probably benefit from a canopy and a bunch of heaters but I'd still come back for this dish!

Yelp
a friend said this was "the best fish and chips" in Vancouver so of course I had to go!! Its a small hut, literally, with a walk up to order, and then a window on the side where you pick up the food and can see the team hard at work. it seems like a really fun, family-run kinda place. we got there at peak lunch time on a Saturday and the line was pretty crazy. we were lucky enough to grab a seat. there are very few tables and a few high top chairs. we got the cod fish and chips, salmon fish and chips, and the fish of the day - salmon plate. i personally preferred the salmon fish and chips over the cod. everything was fresh and piping hot. the king salmon had more of a white flesh than the typical orange, the owner assured a patron that it was the best and it sure tasted like it! parking was pretty easy, but I could see it being difficult during busy times.

Yelp
Go fish seafood shack in Vancouver. It is close to the Granville island public market (so pretty close to the sea by English bay). I love having fish and chips where I can see the boats and the water and smell that fresh water breeze. I've wanted to try this place out during the summer and glad to have such yummy fish and chips that is hidden but so busy! It's great place to take a break after biking along from the science world trail (I swear it goes by fast when you bike along one minute you are at science world and the next you have reached Granville market, it's a nice bike ride!) The fish and the chips are so crispy! I love how long the fish is and the skin is super fried, so hot! And delicious with that tar tar sauce. I like the presentation of the fish and chips on a bamboo steamer basket, I'd say that's quite Asian but it's quite nice aesthetically and to eat this outside makes it more neat and cool. The fish I got is cod and it comes with coleslaw which is a nice thing on the side (most places now don't provide coleslaw). Then we also got one tacone which has grilled salmon and and the salsa which made it abit spicy and lots of coleslaw again. It's a nice touch this place I see why it's quite popular and busy! Glad to try it out!

Yelp
Came in before opening, and there was already a line of 20 people. We ordered two tacones (tuna and salmon) and fish (2) and chips (salmon) for two people. The tacones were so good, and the fish was absolutely delicious. The sauce complimented the fish, and the fish was cooked and remained soft. My friend usually orders only the fried fish fillet, but since we ordered fries this time, she said the fries were very good. They weren't saturated in oil, and were crispy. The fried fish was also very soft, and the batter wasn't heavy. Overall, with the view and the food, it made for a lovely and quick dining experience.

Yelp
This food stand near Fishermen's Wharf has standard fish and chips with 3 fish options and other seafood creations like sandwiches and "tacones". I had never tried oysters before but was feeling adventurous when I came and ordered the oyster po boy. I obviously wouldn't have known what oysters are supposed to be like, but I thought these were really good, and the sandwich as a whole was awesome. The grilled onions and chipotle sauce were really tasty with the oysters. The side of coleslaw was nice and crisp, and I always love coleslaw so I was happy this was included. The prices have gone up since the most recent menu pictures were uploaded online, but they're still pretty reasonable for the times. My sandwich was $16. There's a small, partially covered seating area to enjoy your food. It was raining while I was there and everyone was packing in to stay dry, but it wasn't unpleasant - it kind of added to the experience. Even in the rain, the setting by the water and fish market is perfect - this is how seafood is meant to be eaten! And although service may not be the most important thing at a counter-service place like this, the person who took my order was pleasant and made me feel welcome even with our short exchange.

Yelp
When I read reviews, I hadn't realized that this is basically a food truck. Not a problem, but I was confused and thought it was a sit down place. The food was good. Not the best fish n chips I have had, but good. I didn't like the batter as much as others I've had. But a solid choice.
google avatar

Kimberly T.

Yelp
F O O D The best fish and chips I've ever had! My sister and I split a 2 piece cod meal and added on 1 halibut to share. The batter was light and flaky and the fish moist. I'm not a fish connoisseur but the cod was light and the halibut meaty, crumbly and firm. The fries were crispy and the cole slaw fresh, although I tend to lean towards a little more Mayo. A definite must if you're in Vancouver. 2 piece fish n chips with cole slaw and fries // $18 +1 halibut add-on // $12 S E R V I C E The service was quick and efficient and food came out hot. L O C A T I O N Located at Fisherman's Wharf with a nice view of some sailboats while eating. It's also a nice bonus that they have a parking lot and don't require that you pay, unlike most of Vancouver.

Yelp
Parking: We had lunch at 2pm on a Thursday and there were plenty of parking right in front of the Go Fish Shack Ambience: outdoor dining good for a quick bit. Service: The service was ok. Order was taken, food was served, nothing special. The staff were just socializing entire time. Food: I ordered the the cod fish & chips which was was just ok. Tacones was definitely something different compared to real Southern California Tacos, and their soup of the day which was curry vegetable that tasted like canned veggies in curry soup Overall: This place was recommended by a fellow yelper but unfortunately was not worth the hype. The menu was out of a few main items we came there for and the substitutions we got did not stand out anymore than a frozen dinner cooked in an air fryer.
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
This is the best fish n chips I've had in my life. I said it! Also really good salmon tacos. They charge for extra tartar sauce here so be prepared. The service is quick and tables open up as soon as you order, so don't panic. Plus side to this place is that it is a few steps away from the Granville island market place. Lots to do within walking distance. More like, lots to EAT!
google avatar

Phil C.

Yelp
Recommended by a YouTuber, I thought the fish & chips were quite good. The portions are large (french fries and fish), with the fish having a crispy batter and a flaky interior. I don't like cole slaw, but this vinegar-dressed slaw was good and balanced out the richness of the fries and fish. I tried both the cod and halibut, with both having their advantages. If you like a flakier fish, the cod will be your best bet, while the halibut is more meatier. Service was relatively efficient and since I came on a rainy weekday, there wasn't a line at all. If you don't feel like the Granville Island stuff, try this hidden gem.

Yelp
Very fresh fish and chips. Recommend the short walk if ur visiting granville market whole family enjoyed

Yelp
5 star food, 1 star location, average 3 star. We heard we must try the Fish & Chips here.....so we looked for the place and were shocked at first (you can't go there if you're looking for a fancy place...), but if you want to try incredible Fish & Chips - perhaps one in its kind - in a local typical old wharf, then you better Not to miss the food
google avatar

William H.

Yelp
When visiting Vancouver, don't miss this place, if you like halibut and chips. The tacones are amazing also. The French fries are wonderful also. Sitting outside and enjoy the view of the harbor and boats is a highlight.

June B.

Yelp
The best fish in chips and such a find in granville Island. Could use more outside tables though. Love the food. Great it is but outstanding is better!!!!.

Yelp
Came here after shopping around Granville island and this location definitely does not disappoint. Parking is a little difficult as Granville island is packed with people, both locals and tourists. A short walk to this restaurant would leave them pleasantly surprised. Walking over, I saw a line already starting to form 20 minutes before opening. Seeing this, I already knew that this place was going to be great as the line only got longer the closer it got to opening. I could not be happier that I chose to eat at this location because these were the best fish and chips that I've ever had. The location was outdoors and lively with plenty of others lined up to have some scrumptious fish and chips. Each piece of fish was large, flavorful and perfectly crispy and each chip was flawlessly seasoned with both pairing up for a wonderful combination of flavor with their tartar sauce. The cashier was extremely friendly and they got my order ready quickly. Overall a wonderful experience and would absolutely recommend this location to others. Best fish and chips ever, if you can afford to spend a little more the halibut is extremely flavorful and much better than the cod or salmon.

Yelp
Yum! This seafood shop is a really tasty, casual spot close to Granville Island. There can be a long line, particularly on nice summer days. We ordered the fish sandwich and fish and chips; both were really delicious, particularly the fish and chips. The menu is all seafood so not great for vegetarians or those who don't eat seafood. There is limited outdoor seating, particularly for larger groups. The parking is also relatively limited to a small lot.
google avatar

Yelp
Lunchtime on a Tuesday here was a zoo! Not only was every table and barstool taken on the patio, the two large picnic tables and satellite tables were full too. There were people just hanging out on the dock waiting for their food. Which btw, was 40 minutes! People kept coming up and asking when their order was going to be ready. I even witnessed a couple people asking for a refund. Which brings me to the service: the hangry customers were crowding the pickup area and got yelled at. When I finally got my order and was grabbing my condiments at the counter, some customer wet coughed right into it and then walked away! The girl facilitating the food orders saw this and then went about her business. Another patron behind the dude who phlegm coughed in my food saw it too! We made eye contact and he just gave me an "ew!" look. I know it's not the restaurant's fault, but I think they should have offered to do something about it, especially in this day and age. I shortly debated saying something, but also didn't want to wait another 40 minutes if they even offered to make me another order. Really hope we don't get sick in the next few days. Onto the food: We got the two piece fish and chips with cod (CAD $18), which was cheaper than most other fish and chips and Granville Market. It comes with two decently sized beer battered fish strips and an abundance of fries. Some of the fish (smaller, thinner parts) were dry and tough with thick batter, but the thicker part of the piece was good. Although there were a lot, the fries were small broken pieces. Accompanying coleslaw was crispy, vinegary and refreshing. Credit cards accepted here. There's also a few free parking spots available for restaurant patrons. For borderline average fish and chips, it is not worth the wait and lack of service. Overall: 2.5 stars rounded up.
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
I stopped by Go Fish while I was visiting Granville Island. I came around 12:30pm on a Saturday. There was a line of maybe +/-20 people in front of me. Usually a line means the place is good and worth the wait. Wait time of line to order & getting by food was a little over an hour. I ordered the cod & chips. In my opinion, it was not worth the 1 hour wait. The fish and chips were unseasoned and tasted ok. The only pro I can think of was that the fries were cooked perfectly despite having no seasoning.
google avatar

Pablo S.

Yelp
Holy crap what a plate of food! We had two of the three-piece halibut plates and split that between the four of us and we were all full! The place was packed so there were not any tables but we did the next best thing and walk a short distance around the walkway and just sat on the edge and enjoyed our meal.

Yelp
I've been coming to go fish for years. I always took people here when they were visiting out of town as it's a great place to enjoy the view and the food. The price is not bad for the amount of food you get. Today I ordered two orders of the cod fish and chips 2 piece and the oyster po boy. The cod fish and chips were pretty good today. It's sometimes a hit and miss. Today the fish was a bit overcooked but the chips were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I like the chewiness of the batter. That might sound weird but it's good. It's crispy and chewy. The fish portion is pretty big and definitely filling. It's my first time ordering the oyster po boy at Go Fish. I'm not used to having a none deep fried oysters po boy. They were pretty generous with the oysters. The sandwich doesn't come with fries but it does come with slaw. I actually quite enjoyed the sandwich. Its not as oily because it's not fried and the oysters were nice and plump. The tomatoes and sauce added a nice freshness. I visited on a Saturday at around 1:00 pm and it was very busy. We waited around 25-30 minutes to order and then another 15 minutes for our order so plan ahead if you are hungry. Would definitely recommend the fish and chips. Unfortunately they don't have any dining space open right now but you can find a space to eat on a nearby bench and enjoy the view of downtown to really complete the ultimate fish and chip experience.

Yelp
A solid platter of fish and chips and a great option for food if nothing directly inside Granville Island didn't suit your tastes. We got the 2 piece cod meal that comes with fries. The fish is freshly fried. Light crispy batter with a juicy and meaty fish. Unlike others, it wasn't so oily that I had to stop eating after a few bites. I probably could've downed one more. The fries were solid as well. Nice and fluffy. I felt like you definitely get your money's worth. Only con is the lack of seating here. We got really lucky getting a seat.

Sharilyn B.

Yelp
Wow loved this place for some great fish and chips! Short walk from Grandville Island shops. Very fresh and great tartar sauce!
google avatar

Yelp
It was busy when we showed up here around 3. We waited in line until queue was getting shorter, and it was worth visiting Go Fish. There were families, couples and others waiting for their orders to be ready. Even though we waited around 20 minutes, our food came out fresh. Customers can't eat around this area so you must go elsewhere to find tables/chairs. We had to walk further to find a spot instead. We ordered 2 pcs Halibut and Chips it was a great decision! Fries were SO crispy and Halibut fillet were soft. Never had fries this GOOD (I swear) ! Fish fillet were so meaty, YUM! Coleslaw tasted rather vinegary it was not bad. I expected the usual creamy coleslaw when their coleslaw was more vinegary. Anyways, their beer battered Fish and Chips were excellent. Go Fish deserves two thumbs up!

Ben D.

Yelp
Was disappointed, At Granville island go-fish stand i found the batter on the cod was thicker than usual and it was 80% cooked, too busy to complain so i decided to just do a review, also i think these people are very cheap in their set-up for customers, very limited seating ,no cover for rain , too few seats, been there many times and the batter was great before but this time it was terrible. Maybe they think the tourist are out and skimp on everything because they will not be back.
google avatar

Shaleeni S.

Yelp
We went to this place late night when we arrived into town. The food was delicious & they packed extra plates, napkin & utensils. I appreciate it since we were staying in a hotel near by.
google avatar

Yelp
I've had this place on my bookmarks for years now, so glad I took the plunge and found it! Lol. Go fish is tucked away at fisherman's wharf in a cute dock area by Granville island. If you blink you'll miss it! The lineup was long for a weekday but the make everything fresh and the wait was definitely worth it. In comparison to Pajo's at Steveston, I found the batter to be nice and crisp and the fries to be like 10x more edible / tasty/ crunchy. The prices are also super reasonably, don't doubt the one-piece filling you up cuz they definitely do not skimp on the food portions here. Go fish, you're quite the catch! Pro-tip: You can also phone in your order to skip the wait!

Yelp
This bright little fish shack just steps away from Granville Island is a well regarded joint which I'm delighted to throw a four-star recommendation behind. It's worth clarifying a few things off the bat. The shack is very much just that. There is no indoor seating, limited outdoor seating and effectively no service beyond the cashiers and cooks. It typically has a 10-20 minute queue. It's also effectively on a parking lot. Now normally I would regard these as setting a fairly mediocre ambience and experience, but it also feels unfair to judge them on these merits because that's clearly not part of the product they are offering. What they offer is a small selection of fish and chips alongside a handful of other sandwiches and tacos. And on a warm, sunny day there is nothing better. I have never had less than outstanding fish and chips from Go Fish on the several occasions I have been there. This is the kind of place I take all my guests visiting from out of town and every time they have been blown away. A well travelled friend of mine regards Go Fish as the best fish and chips he's ever had. There's not much more to say except that the food is consistently delicious and at a reasonable price. The only part of the Go Fish experience which has prevented me from giving it a five-star review is the waiting times. On a busy day you may find yourself waiting 20-45 minutes from when you get in line to when you finally receive your delightful bounty. While often it is well worth it, on other times the wait can be a little grating, especially if the weather is a little volatile. That said, these are natural consequences of their physical space and popularity. Spiritually Go Fish has earned my five star review, in practice a four star recommendation is more than well deserved.

Yelp
This place is a short walk from all the shops in Granville Island, and the storefront is pretty small. There are only a few tables and chairs, and the wait on an average day can be about 50 minutes from getting in line to receiving your food. However don't let these things deter you from coming here, and come check this place out yourself if you have the time. When I came here, I ordered 1 salmon and 1 cod with chips and they were all delicious! The fish sizes are pretty large so I split this meal with another person, and we both left feeling full. The salmon and cod were both flaky and the batter was light. The chips were also really good -- they were nicely salted and crisp while the inside was fluffy. Though the wait can be long, I would definitely come here again if I was ever in the area and craving some good fish & chips.

Yelp
Love this spot! The location, the vibe of this shack-like eatery, and the vibe of the guys working too with the music and how they really seem to be enjoying what they do. Want to come early because they get crowded fast, but I think it's pretty worth it. Got the cod fish & chips, the oyster burger, and tuna salad. Didn't get to try the oyster burger personally, but the rest of my family seemed to enjoy it. The tuna was slightly cooked on the outside, but it was delicious with the salad and dressing. Fish & chips were solid and big portions, and it's fun that they give it inside like dim sum/steam buns containers. I love the ocean, so it was really nice eating outside along the harbor. And it's close by Granville Island too so you could walk over there for dessert or just to get some steps in.

Yelp
Went for fish and chips here yesterday, June 21. We ordered the 2 pieces of halibut with chips, as well as a their daily soup, which was a green curry, and an extra side of coleslaw. The fish and chips was good, but not great. The chips are good as well. The problem was with the green curry soup. The broth itself was delicious, but unfortunately the pieces of fish in the soup were pretty much inedible. The fish was overcooked and chewy, to the point that we couldn't eat it. The side of coleslaw was tiny and certainly not worth the cost - $6.50. I've been eating here since it first opened almost 20 years ago, and it does seem that the quality is starting to go downhill, which is a shame, since it's very close to us and has been our go-to place for fish and chips for many years. I hope they pay attention to this review, and use fresh fish in their soup from now on. Kerry H.

Yelp
Great little place with super fresh fish! This is hidden away, across the water from Granville Island market. Fantastic food; hot and fresh and cooked in clean oil. We ate cod and chips, salmon and chips. Great crispy beer batter- not that bizarre corn meal type. Loved it! There are several large picnic-type tables available. We had great conversation with a couple we met visiting from Calgary and the weather was glorious for early March. This place is as good as the legendary Fish and Chip institutions in Steveston- Dave's and Pajos. Of course we will return!

Yelp
Man Hold up This place right here, literally right here is Str8 up Certified. This Halibut with the Pomme fries and Cole Slaw was Top Notch. Damn this Hailbut was fried to perfection, and the snap on it when I cracked it open was nice. If you are over here in this area, please stop by and tell them Big Love sent you. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
The view here is pretty amazing - the harbour, and the mountains! That said, the staff here is super friendly and energetic! I like the fact that they ask for you name and call you when your food is ready - kinda like eating at a friend's place, not a restaurant. I just want to say that I loooove the fact they sell solo fish pieces here without the chips and the prices are so affordable. I've been to a few fish and chips places and they rarely do this and when they do, the price is ridiculous! I ordered a single salmon piece (fried), and their special of the day which was a tuna tacones, which was $0.50 less than the regular price + a drink - all came up to ~$12. They have a self-service station for utensils and seasonings such as salt/pepper, hot sauce, and lemons. My fried salmon was big and the fish was flaky and pipping hot when I bit into it - you could see steam coming out of it. The crust was crunchy with a golden brown colour and not too oily. Fish tasted super fresh like it had been caught the day of - something I should mention, they support local fishermen by buying the fish right from the harbour! The tacones was bigger than I expected! I finished it regardless because it was so good! Again, there was a big piece of tuna and was perfectly cooked - seared on the outside but still mildly raw in the middle. The sauce was my favourite, it tasted like teriyaki but with a hint of bbq. The cabbage added freshness and crunch and texture to the tacones. Their coleslaw was amazing and fresh - was not drenched in mayo. The public washroom located 1min walk away is very clean! Not something I would expect in a public harbour. I would definitely come back for more!

Yelp
This place is always busy. Before we ordered, they advised that there is a 40 minutes wait to get your food after ordering. We had just biked the seawall and we were to meet others so we decided to order anyway, even with the wait. I got the cod and fish. They use a bamboo steaming box, ones you see at dim sum. They give you a lot of fries and the fish was nicely done.

On a beautiful day you can't go wrong with fish and chips! Plentiful of child and enough fish for yourself. Really reasonably priced and would highly recommend on a beautiful day out!

Yelp
"DON'T COME BACK!!!!!" - One of the staff shouted 3 times repeatedly at an old Asian couple for following up on their order. The couple wasn't being rude or anything. They were the first one in line to place the order when the shop was opened but somehow there was a long wait for them. The people that lined up behind them had already got their food and left the place but they were still there waiting. Wouldn't it be normal to follow up then? One of the male staff also yelled and said to couple "I'm not your personal chef!!!". Other staff (btw there were 5 young staff in total) also said something to the couple which I didn't hear the details as I was quite a distance away. But I could tell they were all verbally attacking the couple. There were other customers around witnessing this incident and everyone seemed shocked. The whole situation was really abusive and humiliating. Do they even know what Customer Service is? Or is this something to do with Anti-Asian Racism!!?? The food was BAD. I'm a regular customer for over 10 years and this place has been my #1 to go place for fish and chips. The food has always been great and consistent but the food I got this time was the worst I've ever had. The cod itself was flaky and fresh but the batter was terrible! It was thick, greasy, soggy, without the aroma of beer and without being well seasoned. I couldn't believe the quality of food has dropped dramatically! Such a huge disappointment! Just like other reviewers here, I won't be going back anymore unless there is a significant improvement on customer service AND food!  Don't waste your money and valuable time coming here. Totally not worth it!

Yelp
Found this place on a drive around the area and it happened to be lunch time!!! The food was good, the views of the harbor were outstanding. I can see how some may say that the staff was "rough around the edges" but we did not have any problems. Funny signs about recycling cans and telling paying customers to "use their brain" - not so cool but then hey... how about you guys put the recycle bin next to the garbage can? It is a bit hidden and about 20 yards away around the corner from the fish shack. Food is pricey but most fish places are. We had the choice re fish of tuna or salmon. He chose the tuna which was lightly seared, healthy tasting and done very well. He liked it. I had the red curry soup. Had been looking for more of that promised cod in the bowl but it was good. It was a cloudy day but it afforded us a parking spot, no line up to order in and a seat at a table. Then the skies opened up and it poured! Gotta love Vancouver! Still, a different setting for lunch and we made the most of it. My soup came hot and it was very warming. Not a huge menu selection. A lot or people around us - maybe everyone was having the fish and chips. BIG portion! Something that bothered me reading some reviews is that the staff may be switching out halibut for cod. I really hope this business is giving people what they are paying for. Glad we found this place but would opt for another fish place next time.

Yelp
We arrived on a sunny Sunday morning and found a line forming as the staff were preparing to open. We knew that coming at 11:20 am would guarantee a quick lunch so it was definitely worth it, as Go Fish is known to be extremely busy on the weekends. The highlight of the meal was definitely the seared albacore tuna sandwich, which was complemented perfectly by a tangy ponzu sauce and fresh salsa. Be warned though, eating this is a bit difficult as it's packed with ingredients and things will get messy! The salmon sandwich was just a bit dry, but the delicious mayo sauce made up for it. The staff are friendly and there's plenty of seating in the area as well. Overall, I think the prices are justified by the quality of their seafood but I would not wait over 30 minutes like most people do.
