Probably one of the worst versions of Pad Thai I’ve ever had. The sauce was watery and pooled in the bottom of the container instead of coating the noodles. The chicken was rubbery. It at least wasn’t over priced. The restaurant atmosphere was nice and I liked the vintage movie posters on the wall.

Google
They are very busy around lunch. Do yourself a favor and place a takeout order online. Your order will usually be done earlier than the website says. I ordered the Sy Fried Rice, medium spice, with chicken. I normally go "top of the line" (their most spicy) but wanted to try medium. There is still some spice, but it is the right amount. The fried rice was great! Nice chunks of pineapple and pieces of chicken!

I eat a lot of Thai. I’m picky about my Thai. I hate bad Thai. When I ate here earlier today I honestly had low expectations as the awesome decor made me think the food would be lacking. I order a lunch special and got a free drink and spring roll. The food was AWESOME. The veggies in the dish were fresh. The meat was good. The sauce was PERFECT. The prices were super low. And best of all? The service was SUPER fast.

Google
Fast, affordable, and delicious. Good menu variety with the ability to select your own protein and customize your meal. Easy for vegetarians and carnivores alike. Restaurant was clean. Friendly staff. Stopped in at 11:30 am on a Tuesday and had my food ready to go in 10 minutes. Great for a quick working lunch. Enjoyable, funky deckor of Thai translated movie poster. Will revisit frequently.

Google
Very disappointed. This is the $8 basil fired rice with chicken. I work nearby and this place failed me more than once. From now on I will not order from this place. Please go to Bangkok Crossing if you can. And btw, they don't know how to make fried rice. Their fried rice are very sticky. Personally, I don't think this level of food should be sold in a restaurant.

Google
Found chicken piece in my vegan fried rice today. After a 20 minutes walk for this pick up order. When I took my first bite, I noticed a piece of chicken in my dish. When I called the restaurant, the attendant rudely said that that's not a big deal and she can't do anything about it except crediting the amount. She also referred that I was making it a big issue. Anyway, I am never going in to that restaurant again.

Google
Ordered a chicken pad thai. Came out delicious. Staff was super fast and helpful.

Google
I had eaten there a few years ago (2019) and this was my first time back. Pretty good.

Yelp
We've gotten carry-out here every so often over the years. I noticed the reviews are bad lately, but not many Thai places are open on a Sunday, so I figured why not? The pad thai was remarkably flavorless. Did they forget to add the sauce? It was a container full of gummy rice noodles and peanuts, very dry and barely any flavor at all. Don't get the pad thai.

Kevin J.

Yelp
I used to think the food here was more flavorful and spicier than the Cass Ave location but now I think the opposite. They've gotten pretty skimpy with the portions, too, also seemingly worse than the Cass spot in this category. Shrinkflation is a drag and it's gotten pretty noticeable here. The restaurant itself has better ambiance than the Midtown Sy. Oh, I checked off a box with the Yelpbot in using that word. Service is alright. Nothing too memorable in either the positive or negative sense. Well, got all my check marks going now and the AI says this review is looking pretty epic! Funny, it's seeming like nothing too special to me. Hours are pretty cut short here, too but all in all it's still decent Thai if you're stuck downtown. Guess I'm done since Yelp seems satisfied with this skimpy review.

Carolina C.

Yelp
For fast Thai on the go, Go! Sy has fast service and they get your food to you still warm. My go-to is a pad Thai and I think it just lacks some more flavor, but the spring roll is divine. In a pinch, I always grab takeout from here and I know I'll have a nice meal at a cheap price. The downtown location is typically closed and has some weird hours, so I would recommend the Midtown location that has nice open seating.

Yelp
Very Small and nice place . We were walking in downtown detroit and saw this in Zabiha App. They serve halal chicken only and list it on their menu. We talked to them and they were very clear that they use seperate pots etc. We ordered the orange chicken and the pad thai and both were very good. Glad to find this place. My Kids loved the food and they provide a good amount where 2 plates filled a family of 4

Aminah K.

Yelp
Ordered on Doordash for a work lunch. I got the pad see ew. It was delicious and tasted fresh. The portion was huge and got for 2 meals. My only complaint is that their spice level is super low. I got medium and it was more like a mild.

Lisa C.

Yelp
Needed a quick place for lunch and this was it. The food was freshly prepared to order and tasted great. After looking at the menu, we ordered at the counter. A few minutes later, our food was ready. There were many people working hard in the kitchen. I noticed that lots of orders were being called in. The staff did very well keeping up with the orders. On our entrees, everything was very fresh, seasoned well and delicious. We enjoyed eating lunch here and I recommend the Thai iced tea with your meal.

Rose M.

Yelp
This is my favorite go-to lunch spot here in downtown Detroit. I love using the grubhub online order feature, and taking the quick walk over and picking up my food. I will warn you, there is a bit of a wait when you arrive, so ordering online will save you time if you're in a bit of a rush. The space is small, there are a few tables and it usually gets really packed. The kitchen staff is awesome and moves pretty quick, but if you're wanting to sit in and dine, again, i'd order it online because pick-up time can range between 35-55 minutes on a busy day. The food is always tasty...i've had the Pad Thai, Curry Rice, stir fry dishes, and my favorite Tom Yum soup on a cold day. You definitely can't go wrong with any of the dishes here, and they offer a daily lunch special which can't be beat! For the Thai restaurants in the area, this is my favorite.

Mike G.

Yelp
Love this place. They are quick and drunkenness noodles area great. Hot n sour soup is my fave!

Yelp
Important: Read the top middle part of the sign. For some reason my mind decided to skip that little part that explained how to order food so I said no to tofu / protein and vegetables because I thought they would cost extra when I was asked. Went here on a whim as the wall mural caught my eye as a friend and I were exploring downtown. They admitted to previously ordering the Pa Nang Curry for their past work often, so I ordered that. It said mild but it definitely had a bit of a kick and I found myself grabbing water often. My friend also said it wasn't good as it use to be but that's irrelevant. I was very bummed the person taking my order didn't mention I could've added tofu for free, although my friend said I wasn't missing too much as they do traditional cubes which leaves a pretty raw middle. I still would've liked it though. Overall I can see myself coming back if I happen around that area again. It's hard to find a Thai place committed to serving vegan friendly dishes.

Kortinie R.

Yelp
Hot and Sour Soup is soo good !! Lots of flavor and umami ! Definitely give this a try !

Alex K.

Yelp
seriously some of the best thai around if you want vegan options -- too many places lose their shit and have no idea how to put together a cohesive meal that isn't centered around fish juice puree or sliced bodies, but GST has got it down. my girlfriend and i split the teriyaki udon, pad thai, fried rice, potato curry, and a couple spring rolls. the first time around we got most of the same, but tried the drunken noodles -- those were weak. basically just rice noodles with soy sauce. it sorely needed thai basil, man! even a little sweetness ... i kinda wonder if they just messed up on it. anywho -- the udon -- slaps. salty, chewy, delicious. umami vibes up the rump... flavorful as hell, and maybe the best of the bunch. the pad thai -- sucks. virtually no sauce, very dry, bland, and also just... not very pad thai-like. coulda been a fluke though. would try again to be sure. fried rice -- you'd think this would be hard to screw up, but oddly many places do ... but not GST. not a complicated plate, but soy sauce? good. vegetables?? good. rice??? GOOOOOD. potato curry -- 10/10 all day gimmegimme more. salty, spicy, rich, and delicious. sauced up carbs (and tofu) with a side of carby white rice. one helluva meal. the spring rolls were even excellent... often times places just through freezer bag rolls into the fryer, but it's evident as shid that they make them here. crispy, greasy, delicious. the dipping sauce is even awesome -- it's kinda pathetic i expect most places to cheap out on the little things like this, but they don't. overall, get your ass down here. or, get it dash'd to your house. either way, you'll nosh. nice portions, fresh produce, and great food, almost all the way around.

Yelp
Favorite Thai to go! Easy, quick, inexpensive! Owner is super good guy! Food is excellent!

Victoria W.

Yelp
Good lord the Tom yum soup tastes like pure lemon juice, so sourrrr!! The most sour Tom yum I've had, I can't even open my eyes now it's so sour. Ordered their new wide noodle and the noodle is not that wide! Also, medium is hot! I would say mild is medium here and medium is hot, Parked near the time square parking lot, needed to grab lunch and this was close by. It's 4.3 stars on google but this doesn't hardly deserve 2 stars in my opinion. There are a few Thai places in this area, try somewhere else.

Shanel S.

Yelp
I'm a fan of the sign by the bathroom, but not about anything else. I preordered through the Yelp app for lunch one day and was confused the second I walked in. They didn't have any signs for where to pick your food up so I waited in the long line. I then heard an employee yell my name for my food (yes!), confirmed with her that she said Shanel and a birdie whispered, "check your food", so I did. I was given the wrong order and went to exchange it with no issue. When I finally say down to eat my medium Spiced fried rice, I thought I still had the wrong order. There was no spice whatsoever and the portion isn't very much like most Thai restaurants show an example of. I still want to go back so I can try their hot and sour soup, but the rest is going to be a "no for me, dawg".

Mercedes V.

Yelp
I'd like to give this Thai Restaurant 5 stars for the interior, for the food taste, serving size 4 stars and accuracy in taking orders a 3 star rating. To begin the dining experience, we had the Tom Yum soup with Shrimp. There's 3-5 pieces of small shrimp, a piece of strum mushroom sliced thinly, tomato wedges, green onions and cilantro. I could taste spice in the broth and the strong flavor of the lemongrass. The soup was very good. Served in a red ceramic or glass mug. My husband shared the soup for the two of us. We ordered Keaw Warn with Shrimp. It tasted good. Comes with rice. It wasn't as white like the Jasmine Rice. The portion of the rice was small for the amount of curry served in the plate. Most likely for you to buy extra white rice for $2.50, or brown rice for $2.50 ;-) For the noodle dish, we tried the Drunken Noodle. Ordered chicken but end up with Shrimps. I asked my husband to check on the receipt but he didn't have it. I'm not sure if we paid for it. Anyways, we were so hungry, we didn't bother to complain. We ate and it tasted good. The sauce has a thick and strong taste. The portion size served two hungry Asians ;-). The food price is reasonable. Per meal, the portion size is appropriate for 1-2 person, except for the rice loving Asians. Add more rice please! For $2.50 a cup of Thai Iced Tea, I think I'll be requesting for more! Location is in downtown Detroit, Zone 102 parking. There's a park across the street, a coffee shop and a pet store in the same block. We had to park and walk a few minutes to get to the restaurant. No big deal. It's semi self service. You order and pay for the food and drinks at front. Then, the cashier gives you a plastic waiting number and mints. No fortune cookie? What :-) Anyways, we waited for 5-15 minutes for the food to be served at the table. You need to get up and get your silverware, that's beside the Drink Station. I guess it's unlimited soda refill, except for Thai Iced Teas ;-( We will definitely be back to try other items in the menu. Food tasted good! But next time, we will definitely watch out for what meat they put in our meal. Change plate please ;-)

Yelp
Sy thai always delivers a reliable and delicious thai experience. Many of the sauces are a little sweeter than other thai restaurants in the area, but absolutely delicious if you add a little heat. I usually get Hot and it delivers a decent punch without being overwhelmingly spicy (My tolerance is pretty decent for spice though). I love the pad see-ew and have tried various proteins including chicken, beef, and tofu. The pad thai, panang, drunken noodles, and the various curies are all delicious. This location is more fast casual than an actual restaurant, which is great for the area, especially with most of the customers working at the university or hospitals. Overall, the food is a great value and almost always a second meal for later. With that, their food usually keeps well and warms up a little spicer than when you first order it. Just add a little water and throw it on the microwave or reheat on the stove.

Jessica C.

Yelp
I've eaten at this location several times, and have usually had good experiences. Its close to work and the park across the street makes for a nice lunch out of the office. Today, however, I called an order over the phone for pick up and was told it would be a 30 minute wait, which was fine, my lunchtime isn't set in stone and it is a good 10 minute walk for me to get from work to the restaurant. I show up and ask to pick up my order, this was probably 35 minutes after ordering. They quoted me another 5 minutes..okay no big deal....15 minutes later still no food. My ticket apparently got lost..was told sorry, and was just handed my food close to an hour after i ordered it. poor customer service and poor handling of an accidental situation. now one offered to discount my meal for their troubles or my next meal . or even offer to have the manager follow up after the fact. honestly this probably wont deter me from coming back as this is an office favorite but it left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Janice O.

Yelp
I always enjoy it! Drunkin noodles are my favorite. Not sure why but portions were noticeably smaller last visit. Still good tho.

Taylor O.

Yelp
Pretty good for a fast-service Thai place. I placed an order and it was ready ~early~ in 30 mins. I always get the fried rice here. It has some heat to it and the portion size is pretty substantial.

Lauren K.

Yelp
A-okay Thai Food in a pinch! After a long day with a flight, I was seeking dinner but without a long wait, and Go! Sy Thai delivered (literally and figuratively). I ordered the Pad Thai. While it had a great portion, it sadly didn't have a flavor. I am not a picky eater at all so I still chowed down after my flight, but it had no distinction to it. It was super plain, which made me sad because I wanted to love it! With a little lemon or siracha it would definitely kick the dish up. However since I was in a hotel, my options were limited. I'm thinking maybe I just didn't order the right thing because the reviews on this page are pretty awesome. I would be down to try again if I'm in the area, but maybe visit in-person!

Michelle G.

Yelp
I went to Go! Sy Thai around lunchtime on a weekday to order takeout, since one of my coworkers had recommended this as a good place for Thai food. I really liked their interior design/aesthetic as soon as I walked in, including their mural/art on the walls and their concrete aesthetic. It was really stylish, and I liked it a lot. I liked their menu and ordering process, which was pretty clear and straightforward, and it was really nice to see they had kropek/shrimp chips being sold, although I refrained to try to stay healthy. The service was really friendly and nice, and it was cool to be able to see the kitchen behind the cash register and see how busy everyone was. Despite a lunch rush, they got my food to me relatively quickly, and the whole process was pretty enjoyable. I ordered the chicken panang curry, which was good. I found their mild to be pretty spicy, although I admittedly have a pretty low tolerance. It was flavorful and good, and I'm excited to check out the rest of their menu. The only reason this is four instead of five stars is I think their portion sizes could be a little bigger for what they're charging, but I'll still probably become a regular given all the options they have and how quick and nice their service is.

Bruce B.

Yelp
I had Tom Gah soup with shrimp. It was ok. The Panang was not at all what I'll used to But it's cheap fast, and if you are alone you can sit by the window. The Italian cashier was very friendly.

Michael Z.

Yelp
Just terrible. Got the sesame chicken medium plus. No spice. Rice so dry. Sauce incredibly sweet with a nice burnt taste to it. Chicken was fine and veggies fresh but what good is that if the overall flavor is an insult to Thai food/

Kelso H.

Yelp
Called (they didn't answer), so I then came into the store to order. It was about 15 min before they closed, they refused to serve me. They were kind of jovial and shitty about it too. wtf Not planning on ever coming back here. It used to be a lunch option for me, but after this, I'm just done.

Alan C.

Yelp
I was wondering around downtown Detroit and looking for a place to eat. I just happened to notice this place and decided to go for Thai food. It is an interesting little restaurant off of Griswold and Grand River across from Capitol Park. Sort of an interesting place. Concrete walls adorn with movie posters. It had kind of a cool neon sign. The food was OK. I had the udon noodles and added shrimp. Relatively cheap. I was surprised by how fast the food came out. Must have only been a minute or two after I ordered it. Not much else to say about this place but I would stop by again if I needed a quick Thai food fix.

Imani T.

Yelp
I definitely wouldn't order from here again. I ordered a medium hoping for a slight kick and not my usual 'nose running, mouth on fire burn' and there is literally no heat to this at all. I've never had pad Thai this sweet! I eat Thai very very frequently (in multiple cities and states I may add) and I've never had a dish this sweet. There are HUGE chunks of egg in here and the eggs look like that fake egg stuff. There is little to no seasoning to this dish. The vegetables look and taste very fresh which I appreciate. My spring rolls are burnt in certain areas and when I bit in it, it was an odd color. I wonder if they were old?? No idea. They taste fine but that color threw me off. The plum sauce looks more like plum jello and states a bit off. Maybe today was off for them, but I'm not interested in ordering from here again. Update : it is now a few hours later and I have been stuck in the bathroom since I got home from work. This is all I ate today. So take that as you will.

Jessica K.

Yelp
The new location is great! The decor is really on trend right now, which makes me question if it'll start looking dated in a few years. Food is really solid, tastes exactly like the midtown location. The lunch special is a great deal, as well - I didn't see it advertised online, but it might've been new when I went. I love the small dining area, it's bright and clean and pleasant to eat lunch in, during a workday.

Kaila D.

Yelp
I've eaten here many times, never had a problem before now. I know there's a staffing issue, but y'all know y'all wrong for giving me this dry a** pad Thai. Also asked for medium heat. There was 3 chili flakes in there...

Mike M.

Yelp
I love spicy food to virtually no limit. I've done a bunch of spicy challenges and they really don't phase me. I'm also half Asian and let cooks in Thai restaurants know that I'm Asian and know what I'm getting into when I ask for Thai spicy. It doesn't phase me. I am the guy who cooks come out to look at to see if I was actually able to eat something as spicy as they just made. I always leave them disappointed, even when in Thailand... ...except for at Sy Thai. Sy Thai, for whatever reason is the only plate of Thai Spicy fried rice that I have ever pushed back and said, "Man, that's too spicy for me." Don't get me wrong, on my second try I was able to eat it, but it is a process, and wasn't particularly fun. I'm sure there are folks that eat it everyday and are now adjusted to it, but if you're like me and just in town for the day, it'll be rough. Try this as a challenge plate. Or ease back the heat a bit and you're in for a regular solid plate of Thai food.

Amanda G.

Yelp
There was a long, noodle-like piece of plastic hiding among the actual noodles in my Pad Thai :(

Mia -.

Yelp
I'm a fan of all the other sy thai locations, but this one is not it. Here they charge you extra for everyting, even the chips and soup that are complimentary at every other location i've been too. they charge you way more for a lot less here and the wait was forever. save your money and go to literally any of their other locations!

Shari L.

Yelp
I went in after the lunch rush was over to order panang curry with chicken to go. The curry smelled good, but was so disappointing I only ate a few bites and just ate plain rice to have something to put in my stomach. The chicken was very, very tough and had an unpleasant taste that was separate from the flavor of the curry broth. Some of the veggies were too soft, but the carrots were large slices that were not tender. Some of that I could forgive, but the chicken was really bad. I won't be back.

Joseph H.

Yelp
Good prices. Fast service. If u like hot food (about tobasco sauce level) then I recommend the hot. Medium is sweet. extra hot is too hot (I can tolerate more spice than anyone I know and I couldn't finish the pad Thai at one level above hot). Hot is just right if you love spicy food (approx tobasco sauce level). If u don't like spicy food then stay at medium or even less. Great location.

Kathleen P.

Yelp
the customer service is GREAT. We ordered something without peanuts but we found cashews in the dish. So when we called back they made us a new dish and added some spring rolls in there cuz they were sorry. If you have allergies I'm sure you've had similar problems with restaurants putting allergens in ur food on accident (it happens ), but they handled it very well and were very kind!

Review A.

Yelp
Quick food and nice staff knocks the review up to 4 stars. The food is just alright nothing here has impressed me. Its good not great. In a great location where you can go across the street and eat in capital park!

Rebecca R.

Yelp
Pared down, small, communal tables, clean bathrooms, good location, fresh shrimp chips, good fried rice and they deliver too. What's not to like?

Maha S.

Yelp
Perfect place to satisfy my Thai food needs. They have loads of halal options. The portion size is massive. I always order the Pad Thai or the Orange Chicken. The place is always busy during lunch hours which is good because you know it's fresh. It's a quaint little fast food/takeout place. Recommend it to everyone!!!

Nabeel Q.

Yelp
Great food and good price. Good procedure for Covid. Got the sy Thai rice with chicken and drunken noodles. And cream cheese imitation wonton

Lina P.

Yelp
One of our favorite places in Downtown!! We frequent this place pretty much weekly for our fix of quick and delicious Thai food. We continue to try new things from their menu-- some of our absolute favorites include the Karee Basil Noodles, Curry Noodles, Sy's Fried Rice, and pretty much all of the curry rice dishes. You really can't go wrong, especially since you can customize your spice level and choose your protein. It's an incredible spot that has continued to put a smile on our face, particularly with everything going on in the world right now. We will continue to do all we can to support this amazing local staple!

Andrea F.

Yelp
We come here all the time. Order using the Yelp app and pick up is a breeze. I've tried to come in for lunch and it's quite crowded so I just recommend carry-out unless you're coming at an off time. Pad Thai is great. My boo thang gets cashew beef or drunken noodle. The curries are okay too, I just prefer Indian curry over Thai curry.

Pam T.

Yelp
Solid place to get Thai food and close to my work. Went here with a couple of co workers today for lunch. I liked that I could order online and even leave a tip. It made the wait time next to none since we got there when the food would be done and it was ready to go. Aside from the convenience, we were able to sit across the street and eat outside which was very enjoyable. I ordered the Kow Pad (fried rice) with shrimp added. Let me say that unlike most places you get shrimp, they do not skimp and that is great! They also don't do those weak little tiny shrimp either, I got the big pieces of shrimp. Since I am not a big fan of spicy food, I ordered this dish mild. I will say I enjoyed what I ordered. The only reason for a knock with one star is consistency. My co worker ordered the Pad Thai and had her heat level as medium. She commented she had her dish medium here before and it had flavor and was spicy. She said this time there was next to no flavor or heat to this dish. So if you like your dish with some kick (or a lot), you may find it varies each time you go. Overall, a nice walk to an affordable and tasty Thai place.

Caitlin S.

Yelp
I ordered a Pad Pak with beef and I couldn't chew any of the meat. What a waste, I had high hopes for this dish because I had just gotten it from the Cass location earlier this week. The Cass location had an hour wait so I decided just to drive a little further into downtown to this location but I am highly disappointed. If I wasn't so far I would definitely return it.

Kevin B.

Yelp
Best Thai Food I've had in Michigan! Big fan of the Curry Noodle. The spicy levels are realistic so medium isn't too hot and hot doesn't make you feel like youre going to die. My only knock would be the shrimp, sometimes they leave the tail on and shell gets in your food; and one time the shrimp tasted like dirt which is usually a trait of farmed shrimp... all things considered I'm their newest regular!

Rachel O.

Yelp
I'm a fan of Go! Sy Thai, don't get me wrong, but there is a bit to be desired. The food itself is fine -- could certainly be better, the flavor isn't quite what it could be, particularly given other Thai places in town -- and the service is always up to par. Having said that, the portion sizes, while large, are not comparable to other Thai places and really don't leave me feeling totally satisfied. Here's the bottom line on Go! Sy Thai: it's very trendy, but quality is sacrificed a bit as a result. I would go elsewhere.

Arika A.

Yelp
Ordered takeout from here tonight. Definitely just mediocre Thai food if that's what you're looking for! I'd probably get the Pad Thai again but the pot stickers weren't that great.

Rae S.

Yelp
Well this place is like a hip panda express... Real basic and the food is eh...the decor is better then the food... Will not go back...

Arthur J.

Yelp
I eat a lot of Thai. I'm picky about my Thai.

Taylor B.

Yelp
I've been to Sy Thai twice since they have open about a week ago I have enjoyed my meal both times the food is good and the prices are good value. I wish the lawn special was listed on the main menu is only listed in the paper to go menu. If I had known they had that deal when I ordered I probably would have gottten it. The layout is not the best. They have the silverware, drink, condiment, and cups at the front / exit of the restaurant which is a little counter productive if you are sitting closer to the kitchen. But a solid new option for downtown.

Yelp
Lunch time always busy. Call ahead to order. Small lil place. Kinda dimly lit. Food was just ok. I had the Sy's fried rice. Lunch special included the fried rice a spring roll and beverage for $9.99.

Yelp
This isn't Thai food lol. The pad Thai is just sugary noodles stir fried until they've fallen apart completely- you'll need a spoon to eat it. It came with a lemon wedge instead of lime?? I also ordered it medium and it came super spicy (they use red pepper flakes to modify spice level) It was good? Just not Thai food. In any way.
