Where To Do Fall Stuff Within 90 Minutes Of Chicago - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Barrington, IL - 50 minutes from The Loop We’re big fans of the apple cider donuts at Goebert’s in Barrington. And while they’re delicious enough to drive an hour for, that’s not the only reason to spend your Saturday here. This place also has a corn maze, pig races (they compete to win a donut) and a haunted house that’s supposedly designed for children, but we’re not taking any chances. Oh, and the bakery also has pumpkin cookies and all sorts of pies. Check out their site for a full list of activities." - adrian kane

We celebrated our sons birthday over the weekend and I tell you it was the best decision to do our party at Goebberts. Hannah, the event coordinator is a pleasure to work with and really took good care of us. This year has a lot of new attractions for the kids, they also have a lot of animals for kids to feed and the food was good esp the corn. the best corn in IL in my opinion. we also did apple picking and the ambrosia apples are top notch! we had so much fun and our guests enjoyed and loved every minute of it. Goebberts will always have a special place in our hearts.

I have been coming here every year since I was a baby, and my children the same 🥰 It's one of my favorite yearly traditions. There is SO much to see and do for kids, most things are included in general admission. It gets crowded, and some of the extra things can add up $ wise, but it's worth it in my opinion! A family can easily spend several hours here and still have more to do. I highly recommend anyone to come here!

This place is amazing!! We hosted our college homecoming here and it was a huge success. Hannah is the best tour guide! She spoiled us. Everyone we worked with was super kind and generous. Highly recommend the roasted corn and apple cider donuts! Great for events or a family day on the farm!

It’s awesome to be here. Ticket for adult is like $30. And there’s giraffe, alpaca, camels, zebra, and other animals. There’s several hoops you can play with little basketball for free. There’s also paint ball air-soft that costs $5 for 40 rounds and tennis cannon that costs $5 for a few rounds, and an apple cannon that costs $5 for a basket of apple. There’s a food court like place where you can get chicken skewers and fried goodies. Tastes good! There’s a train that takes you around some Halloween decor. Cool stuff.

I have taken my children to many pumpkin farms over the years yet this was our first time here. What a wonderful place! The Haunted Mansion is great for kids, the apple shooters were a BLAST🎉, the pig races are cute & HUGE pumpkins at a great price! Will definitely return, especially to feed the 🦒 giraffe!!

Hello everyone! And thank you so much for reading my reviews 🙏 Today our family visited a wonderful place – Goebbert’s Farm, Pingree Grove 🌾🍎. The atmosphere here is amazing: fresh air, beautiful fields, the chance to pick your own harvest, and spend time with animals. To make your trip as smooth and enjoyable as possible, here are some tips: 1️⃣ Check the opening hours on the website in advance. The farm is open from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. 2️⃣ Bring a rolling cart. It’s super convenient for carrying apples, pumpkins, or other fruits and vegetables depending on the season. 3️⃣ Don’t forget water. You’ll definitely want a drink while enjoying the fresh air. 4️⃣ Think about treats for the animals. You can bring sliced carrots or buy food right at the farm. 5️⃣ Visit the Haunted House. A perfect activity for thrill-seekers 👻. 6️⃣ Take a train ride. Both kids and adults will love it 🚂. 7️⃣ Try local treats. Don’t miss the flavorful cider, delicious popcorn, and unique pumpkin ice cream 🎃🍦. 8️⃣ Plan for expenses. Admission is $25 per person. Some attractions cost extra, like pony or donkey rides – $5 🐴. 9️⃣ Budget wisely. On average, a full day for a family of four comes to about $200–300 (including tickets, food, and fun). 💵 🔟 Hop on a tractor ride. The tractor 🚜 takes you to the fields where you can pick apples or corn (depending on the season). You can bring your own bags or buy them at the farm. We had an amazing time: picked fruit, enjoyed the animals, tried the treats, and truly felt the spirit of autumn. 🍂

I can’t say enough good things about Goebbert’s Farm. This is hands-down the cleanest and most well-run pumpkin patch I’ve ever been to. You can feel the love and care that goes into every detail — from the staff who treat you like family, to the rides, to the attractions they add every year to keep things fresh and exciting. It’s not just a pumpkin patch, it’s an experience. Every visit becomes a memory worth keeping, whether you’re here with kids, friends, or just looking to soak up fall. The attention to detail and dedication to making guests feel welcome is unmatched. If you’re choosing where to go this season, do yourself a favor and come here. Once you experience it, you’ll understand why so many families come back year after year. Goebbert’s isn’t just a farm — it’s tradition, it’s joy, and it’s everything you want fall to be.

Yelp
This is a fun place for families to bring their kids to have Fall fun activities. Goebbert's has play areas, train ride, wagon ride, animals petting area, a maze for kids, dinosaur pumpkin smashing, a haunted house and more. Kids love hanging out here and can spend hours having fun. Adults can hang out by having tasty food and beverages and by checking out their shop. I had tacos from Jaimitos and apple cider glazed donut while here. I liked them. Both, the tacos and the donut were delicious. They hit the spot. I had a fun time hanging out with my family. Check out Goebbert's.

Yelp
Lot's of good tasting apples with huge variety available for picking. Love the Fuji's. Tons of things for kids to do. Lot's of family fun.

Yelp
This was by far one of the most upsetting Fall experiences I've ever had. The conditions the animals at Goebbert's Farm are kept in are heartbreaking. Exotic animals are housed in a small, cramped tent with barely any room to move, alongside hundreds of visitors. The kangaroos were lying motionless on the ground with only a dirty bucket of water, and it was clear many of the animals were suffering from malnutrition. There's also a pony merry-go-round where ponies are forced to walk in circles all day with no food or water. This isn't a farm--it's animal slavery, plain and simple. I deeply regret spending money here.

Yelp
Thought I reviewed this place. This is my second time here. Nice place to bring your family. Especially if you have little ones. They have free games, concessions, and rides. I recommend coming.

Yelp
Hayrides is awesome...tractor drivers are very nice..dont listen to all the tree huggers complaining about the animals. They need to shut up and go on the hayride. Quit complaining and get you some hayride. It'll calm yall down. I love the old and new hayride trailors.

Yelp
Goebbert's is amazing! The atmosphere, the amount of activities, and the workers were all so fantastic! I feel like the $20 ticket was well worth entry for people of all ages. I am 22 and found myself having a great time. All the food from the snack shop was also not overly priced, which is so unusual for attractions like this. Plus, we got ~14 apples for $10 from the orchard. Everything was beautiful and it felt like we were in a real life little Halloweentown. I think this place will become a yearly tradition for me & my friends, we had a really awesome time. I like that it really felt like a family business and not some cheap money-making ploy. The only ding I give this place is the animals inside the barn, a lot of which are exotic. I'm not really sure how they are cared for and what their situation is outside of Halloween season, but it did break my heart a little to see them in such compact areas. I hope the animals get free roam in the off season.

Yelp
All of the activities are fun for kids but I am in absolute awe that this place's "petting zoo" is full of exotic animals (zebras, kangaroos etc) living in small areas/cages on a concrete floor with straw covering it. There's also a giraffe living in a small area outside. I truly can't understand how this is allowed? It was so sad and depressing seeing these animals caged up like this. We will never be back. Please spend your money any of the other pumpkin farms in the area!

Yelp
We purchased tickets for the drive through display. We arrived and checked in. Upon leaving the ticket booth we were directed by a guy with a flashlight to proceed his way. We found ourselves sitting in a staging area for a drive up display. We did not know there were two separate displays. After sitting in this staging area for over 25 minutes we were directed to the drive up area. We immediately exited and made our back to the ticket booth where we had to argue how we were directed to the wrong display. Be aware, there are no signs posted for where you should go for the tickets you purchased. In my opinion the entire farm should be open for one fee. Seems like a rip off to have to pay twice! Very disappointing!!

Yelp
Hands down our fav place to go each year for pumpkin and apple picking! They also have a huge variety of other family friendly activities from MrDs magic show , kid friendly haunted house, pig race, live band, haystack for kids to run around, giant corn maze by the pumpkins, petting zoo , carousel, camel ride and so much more. Honestly I can't say much more great things about this other than checking it out yourself and even as an adult I still have fun and hope to one day bring my kids here. Some of the highlights are: 1) apple picking - they drive you on this tractor to pick apples and there are so many to choose from including red delicious, Jonathan etc. my favs are Aztec Fuji , candy crisp, and golden delicious. They charge 10 dollar per bag so try to fit in as much as possible ! 2) pumpkin patch- love how this is a legit field with pumpkins on the vine vs pre picked pumpkin that you just buy from a store. I love to find the speciality pumpkins like the white ones but it's a great spot if u r looking to decorate or cook some organic pumpkins! Just be careful not to throw out ur back when picking up the huge ones. 3) mr d magic show- ok I know the name should weird n I'm a grown adult but it's honestly one of the best free magic shows ever. He has this decorated 1950s truck with photos of himself and his family who were also magicians. I just love seeing how he involves the audience members n asks kids n adults to come up. It's a great time and fun for all ages. Ton of great food and drinks as well including fresh grilled corn on the husk, apple cider, apple cider donuts, pumpkin lager , grilled sausage and so much more! Last tips: I would just say this is an all day event so wear comfortable shoes. The wagon ride can be very dusty so Rec a hat and coat. Come early like late sept or early October to get the good apples and pumpkins!

Yelp
Knowing that Larsen's light show moved to Goebbert's this year, we booked a ticket online and packed up the car to go see the new show. Unfortunately, I wasn't aware there is also a drive-through light show on the premises, so I purchased my $25 ticket, but when we arrived, we were told it was only for the drive through lights, not the Larsen's show featuring the "house". We drove through the winding path of pedestrian-looking lights, but weren't impressed. My neighborhood has better light displays. Doubtful we'll return, which is a shame. We really enjoyed the old Larsen's show, which was a couple streets away from us.
