Excellent food and service! We have a few Korean restaurants here in New Orleans (we have a little of everything) and I’m really happy with Gogi. I got the Bulgogi (one of my favorite Korean dishes) and it was fantastic. Portions were generous - more than I can eat in one sitting. The meat was well-seasoned and very tender. The kimchi and jangajji were excellent! Especially the cucumbers. I came in between lunch and dinner, so there was only one other customer here. Service was great - the server was friendly and attentive; the food came out in just a few minutes. I will come back and try more of their items and will append this review when I do. In the meantime, I give them five stars.

Google
Coming from Seattle it’s hard to find Korean food or good Korean food at all in the south. I got the kimchi soup and it was a little underwhelming. Only about four or so tofu pieces and the meat was very scant. The flavor was good, but wish the quality and quantity of the meat and tofu was more. Friendly service. If I were to come back, I’ll try something else.

Came here a handful of times the past couple of years, and I think ownership has changed. Some of the dishes do not look or taste the same as before, but it’s still good. My go-to dishes are corn cheese, kimbap, tteokbboki, regular mandu, tofu stew, galbi, bulgogi, and seafood pancakes. Everything has been good until the last few visits. Kimbap seems to be less flavorful and appealing. Tteokbboki serving size and sauce have depleted. It used to be A LOT when they first opened. Seafood pancake was not good at all. Too much batter. Squid was good but not good enough for me to keep eating it. It used to be a thin pancake that was crispy. Now it’s a thick, fluffy pancake that has too much flour and no flavor. Most likely will not order again. Tofu stew was amazing though! They were very generous with the tofu so I appreciated that. Galbi and short ribs were also really delicious even though the flavors aren’t the same. Also, no more sesame seeds garnished on top. Only meat and onions. BUT I do like how they give seaweed with it! That’s new and a nice added touch. Service was relatively decent for having only one person managing the front and floor. She answered calls, took orders, and served the entire restaurant. Must have had only one chef too because our food came out in increments so it kind of sucked not being able to eat everything at once. Our meat came out last so it was hard trying to eat it by itself when the stew, tteokbboki, etc. were not paired with it. They’re kind of stingy with the ban chan too. It was a party of four, and the first few rounds of it barely had anything on the plates. Pictured was maybe the second to last round of ban chan when I think the waitress got tired of having to keep refilling it. She was nice about it though. I still like this place a lot. Just be careful with operating hours. I feel like they’re always changing

Gogi was definitely a really good experience. As you walk in to this restaurant you definitely get korean K-pop vibes which my teens and I loved. The decor was beautiful with a very friendly atmosphere. The food was piping hot when it arrived to the table and our waiter was very friendly and quick. Our waiter was very good at making suggestions and explaining what ingredients were in the food. If you like spicy food you'll definitely find it here and did I mention its delicious! For starters I definitely recommend the garlic soy wings and the kimbap!

Google
Great food & service! I would definitely eat there again! I got the Dak bulgogi! The entire lobby was set up and ready to accept customers :-) did not have to wait at all and was seated immediately. Food came out faster than I thought it would and was perfect temperature. Fresh and tasty! I got the dumplings appetizer and it was okay, not my favorite but I would get it again if someone else wanted it.

Google
Maybe they're the way they are because they have no competition? Food is mediocre and pricey. Banchan is meager and trying to get more is like pulling teeth. The waitress tries to say "they ran out".. because they're literally out of half the menu items too.. how can you be out of kimchi at the korean restaurant??? That's like no tacos at a mexican restaurant, no pasta at an italian. I mean, I would just prefer you just charge me a little extra for more banchan if you don't want to give away free food, not lie about it. I do like the taste of the galbi and the bulgogi. The dumplings have no consistency inside, its mush and the tofu soup is peppery.

Google
I was impressed the moment I walked in and saw all the delicious food at the tables. I ordered Bibimbap with grilled kimchi and pork added and did not know it came with all of the Korean side dishes. The side dishes them selves were a meal. Everything looked great and tasted even better. When my Bibimbap came out it was sizzling in a stone bowl. They brought out a spicy chilli sauce and I dug in. I wish they had some Korean places in Baton Rouge like this.

Google
Casual and quick table service only adds to a positive dining experience. The tender and lean short ribs can feed two when you start with an app and order an extra side of rice. I usually pick over the banchan (the small plates served with the bbq) at Korean restaurants, but each of the dishes were a treat on their own, some sour, some sweet, some spicy. While sweeter than I expected, the plum shoju was a nice complement to the meal. Follow @nola.eats on Insta for more food & dining tips! #nolaeats

Yelp
Me and my boyfriend always looking for an authentic Korean Food and we found this one. I guess they been located or remodeled or something because it look different from the other pictures in the reviews. It pretty small as the new place and the menu is just a piece of paper. The food is good and flavorful, we finished everything we ordered. The service was good and nice, after check out she gave us yogurt drink. We also got the beef rice bowl i guess but I forgot to take a picture.

Yelp
This placed used to be average years ago, but now it's BELOW average. Ordered delivery and they put the ramen noodles in the soup rather than separating the noodle from the soup (what time of Asian restaurant does that??), so that by the time it got to us, there was no soup at all because the nooes had absorbed everything and become so soggy that it was inedible. The kimchi jigae, priced at $19 should have been more like $5. Two pieces of tofu, three-four pieces of overcooked meat, and bland oversalted broth. I'm never coming back here. They price their food at California prices, but I wouldn't even feed my dog food from here. Should have listened to the recent reviews.

Yelp
After coming several times during business hours only to find them closed, they were open on my most recent visit! Hallelujah!! You now order at the counter and they bring you the food. My sister and I ordered 2 kimbaps and 1 LA galbi. Pictured is the LA galbi. It was extremely thin and about 1/3 of the portion size they used to serve. This used to be my go to Korean restaurant but with the price increasing to $24 from $18 AND cutting the portion size so drastically, I will not be back. Also, the woman there visibly treated the Asian customers poorly in comparison to the happy, chipper customer service she provided to the older Caucasian customers. Steer clear unless you want to wait a long time, get shitty service, and be overcharged.

Yelp
Not the best. We had to go here due to an issue at my preferred Korean restaurant. BanChan was severely limited. Only got 3 cucumbers and like 2 pieces of kimchi. Personally didn't like the flavor of either. The bean sprouts were tasty though. Rice cakes were tasty and spicy and the sauce was nice. Maybe could've had more fish cakes in it but overall was tasty. However I don't like their use of raw cabbage in it. It was not kimchi. Just raw shredded cabbage. Bulgogi tasted EXACTLY like yoshinoya beef. Yoshinoya is a chain of Japanese fast food bowls and is good, but not what I wanted in bulgogi. It tasted EXACLTY like it. No differences. Additionally the restaraunt was dirty and could use a face lift. The food took forever to arrive as well. It was expensive too. Overall not a good idea to come here

Yelp
The last time I've been to Gogi at their new location, the food was great despite the portion size (meat portions were smaller). However, lately as I've been having the craving for their food, I'd call to place a to-go order but am told that they are out of a lot of their menu items. Today I called and asked if they had a full menu and was told they only have appetizers I truly hope that this does not become a regular thing as I do enjoy their food, but it's a huge disappointment that they're always out of their main dishes.

Trish P.

Yelp
Food was absolutely amazing!! Every meat is incredulously juicy and flavorful. The kimbap was kimbapping for real!! I could tell they put love in every dish serving. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and felt like home. I wanted to study there, but it's always so busy ;) Service was amazing and fast. 11/10 would recommend to everyone looking for a cozy, delicious meal with delightful service.

Yelp
Decent Korean food if you're craving a few SK classics but not the best option in the game. This place is extremely understaffed, resulting in longer than normal wait times and mediocre service. Our favorites were the kimchi fries, tteokbokki, and "maeun ddak". I especially loved the kimbap and spicy rice cakes as they reminded me of my time as an expat in Korea. I highly recommend this place for takeout if you're craving an authentic Korean meal that isn't too fancy.

Yelp
It's more modern inside. They do charge 3.4%, which you find out after your card is run through. They should let you know this ahead of your card being charged in my opinion. The Korean drama Beauty Inside is playing on the TV. Ordered kimbap and added grilled kimchi, tteokbokki, spicy chicken, soondubu and added grilled kimchi and rice cakes too and two barley teas. $60.96 The bachans are pickled radish, bean sprouts and kimchi. They are out of kimchi fries today. The pickled radish is good, fresh and crunchy. The bean sprouts not bad either. The kimchi is very tart and bitter and not my jam, it's well past the due date for me. K drama scenes on the one wall. The one in the middle is from Hwang Jini. I knew I had seen it before. I don't know any of the others at all. The Kimbap tastes okay, but the rice is a bit mushy today. The tteokbokki is flavorful, the rice cake is nice and chewy. The sauce is good. The spicy chicken is good, saucy and lots of flavor. The soondubu is nice spicy, tastes a bit different from what I am used to, but still good. Not a huge fan of the carrots in this version, but everything else is as expected. There was a chunk of the Napa end in my stew. The rice cake and the grilled kimchi is a must add to this stew. Service is good, food was out quick.

Yelp
NOLA, in my opinion, is still lacking in authentic Korean restaurants. I enjoy Korean food and I am always on the hunt for new Korean options. Gogi is a good option as they have most of the great Korean cuisine. Galbi (short ribs), kimchi stew (boiled kimchi, tofu, and veggies), bibimbap (rice with veggies, protein, and topped with an egg), and japchae (stir-fried glass noodles with veggies) are all popular Korean dishes. Gogi has all these choices and more. I have had the kimchi stew many times and it is very good. While the menu is limited and the service is lacking in friendliness it is still a good choice when in Metairie.

Yelp
This a review for when they were located in Metairie. It was great the first two times. But after that everything went downhill. The portion sizes became less but more expensive. The quality was also different. Like the chicken katsu wasn't the same. And also having your employees sit outside on the concrete makes them look like they are homeless people loitering. I hope to visit again one day and write a better review. I really love Korean food. This was the place that introduced me to Korean cuisine.

Yelp
One of my granddaughter's favorite places so we stopped in for lunch. There were 7 of us which was more than they wanted in a group, but they let Sunday's anyway Food was great. Restaurant is very clean and inviting. We all enjoyed our lunch and would come again!

Yelp
We really missed Gogi during the pandemic as they only allowed takeout. We really enjoy sundubu/soondubu at the restaurant so haven't been to Gogi for over a year. We called Gogi tonight and they were open for in-person dining! Yay! We always order soondubu and the flavor was just as rich as before :) I was a bit sad that it was not as hot (temperature) wise. The spiciness was on point. It is such a comforting dish that always makes be feel warm and fuzzy The spicy squid is another favorite. My mom loves this dish and we grew up ordering it at other Korean restaurants. Gogi's is always good. The SAUCE....my goodness is just awesome! We never let that go to waste! But it does look like the portion size shrunk a little and price went up. However we are happy to support local and small businesses, so we do not mind. I am sure many businesses are trying to balance finding a way to recover without increasing prices too much. Plus I'm sure sourcing ingredients is challenge and costs more for them now. Kimbap is basically a Korean rice roll haha and always good :) we generally do not get this but we haven't had Korean food in over a year, so we splurged We don't eat that much so have plenty of leftover of the soondubu and spicy squid to eat with rice for a few days. I will say, the only "sad" thing was the waitress helped us with boxing our leftovers and left a bit of sauce for the squid dish haha Support Gogi :) our waitress was a rock star for handling many tables by herself on a Friday night also and was still very pleasant

Yelp
Nestled in the heart of culinary exploration, Gogi Kitchen Restaurant stands as a cozy sanctuary for those seeking solace in the warm embrace of Korean cuisine. My recent visit revealed a blend of flavors, textures, and sentiments that painted a delightful picture of comfort and satisfaction. Drawing from my tried-and-true favorites, I ordered the tofu soup, a steadfast companion in my Korean food escapades. This time, I ventured beyond the familiar boundaries by opting for the beef variation. The soup arrived, steaming and inviting, exuding an aroma that spoke of nurturing and nostalgia. A minor pang of longing for a raw egg as a topping floated through my thoughts, but the initial taste dissolved any lingering disappointment. The blend of flavors was captivating, and the beef added a hearty richness that harmonized seamlessly with the tender tofu and invigorating broth. Each spoonful seemed to whisper stories of family gatherings and comfort-filled nights. The banchan, those charming side dishes that often elevate a Korean meal to an extraordinary experience, showcased Gogi Kitchen's personal touch. Although the selection was limited, each dish felt like a labor of love. House-made creations stood side by side with tradition, delivering an ensemble of flavors that complemented the main course. While the banchan might not have been the most expansive I've encountered, their presence added an authentic touch that tied the meal together with a sense of familiarity. The soup was accompanied by rice, an essential element that transformed the dish from a mere comfort to a fulfilling feast. The simplicity of the perfectly cooked rice was a canvas on which the robust flavors of the soup painted their masterstroke. The interplay of textures and tastes was soothing, a gentle reminder that sometimes, it's the simple combinations that bring the most profound joy. In the end, my experience at Gogi Kitchen Restaurant was nothing short of heartening. It's a place where flavors intertwine with memories, where the aroma of familiar dishes takes you on a journey of the senses. While minor wishes lingered - like the absence of that raw egg - they faded in the face of the overall experience. Gogi Kitchen isn't about extravagant displays or overwhelming choices; it's about nurturing your soul with dishes that feel like a loving embrace. For anyone seeking a taste of Korean comfort beyond the bustling realms of KBBQ, Gogi Kitchen is a culinary haven that's sure to leave you feeling both satisfied and comforted.

Yelp
Food was cooked to order and was very hot. Got the japchae. Not a fan because it was too sweet and too much black pepper. Got the Ramen. Tasted like what I cook at home. Got the bulgogi and chicken bulgogi. Freaking awesome. Bulgogi was a little too sweet but the meat was sooo tender. The drinks were too expensive imo. Service wasn't great but there was only one person that was bring the food out. Never got a refill. Wasn't the place I remembered from years ago.

Kevin R.

Yelp
Incredible Korean food! We've eaten here several times and the food & service are always top notch.

Christopher W.

Yelp
Came here with a friend looking for a new Korean restaurant to eat at and boy were we impressed. We ordered all the usual favorites but what set this place apart was the beef bulgogi which was superb. A nice Metry mom and pop with great prices, we will be back.

Sheri C.

Yelp
Still only OK. I really want to support this business because it is Korean and they serve Korean food. however, I am struggling. First, THREE pieces of cucumbers in the banchan - THREE? That was insulting. There were hardly any bean sprouts, but the kimchi was good. I ordered the chicken bulgogi - basically bulgogi but chicken. It was OK flavor; mainly I was extremely disappointed with the banchan. Koreans know that banchan is really the main dish. I will probably not visit this restaurant again, unfortunately.

Yelp
I've been craving Korean food lately, specifically Korean fried chicken! So I look on doordash and ordered the kfc, bibimbap, tteokbokki, and a cheese corn this past Sunday 01/30. The food was delivered within an hour, lukewarm/coldish but that's not the restaurant's fault necessarily. ANYWAYS, uh the food was bad. It wasn't anything like what other yelpers had described? Maybe it's better dine in? I thought it was bland and did not remind me of any sort of Korean flavors that I had previously in other cities. Also they didn't have the kfc :( The one thing I found so upsetting was the prices!! Like the cheese corn was a smaller take out container, filled less than 1/2 the way and it was $6. I was joking with my partner that each bite he took was like 75 cents since in total it was a teeny amount of corn. The bibimbap was $18 and very sparse in meat... The other items were not memorable. Yeah this place is a no go. The portions are comically tiny and it's bland.

Phil P.

Yelp
Service is always great here; takeout is FANTASTIC. TVs run K-Pop videos non-stop. Bathrooms have been gleaming clean every time I've used them. Extensive variety of Korean beverages in bottles and cans, but no Boricha or Sujeonggwa. :( Best Banchan: Oi Kimchi/Muchim. Best Dishes: Kimbap, Galbi, Kimchi Jjiggae, Kimchi Pajeon. Better than Anywhere Else: Tteokbokki, Maeun Dak (Spicy Chicken). Better Elsewhere: Bulgogi, Japchae. Both are lacking in flavor--just meh. (I don't weigh in on Mandu because mine are better than any I've had at any restaurant.) Portions are generous--$10 of food is filling and $20 per person will stuff EVERYBODY at the table like a Thanksgiving Turkey. I always forget that they're closed on Thursdays...

Nhu H.

Yelp
They are definitely taking COVID precautions here. Dine in is reservations only and they're only seating about 4 tables at one time. I think I have officially found my go to spot for Korean food in NOLA after searching for so long. First of all, the banchan is amazing here, especially the potato salad. Thank goodness they're unlimited portions. We had thirds. For apps we had the topoki with cheese and seafood pancake and for entrees we had the bibimbap with beef and tofu soup. Everything came out perfect, fast, flavorful, hot, crispy. I have zero complaints. Portions were big, prices were fair. I highly recommend this place.

Immanuel L.

Yelp
I seen this place a few times driving around Metairie. The sign is big and calls for attention, so I finally decided to try since I love Asian food so much and haven't had Korean food since I lived back in California. The place is pretty authentic and I was not expecting that, even though it gives out like fast food setting vibes. I like the art on the wall. The service was decently quick. I like their appetizer king mandu dumpling and the chicken wings. What I did not like was the Korean dumplings as they were very mushy on the inside. The Glass Noodles were not good either they were over cooked and took away from the experience. The Spicy Pork Bulgogi was not spicy at all and was not that great of a quality pork meat. I would try again, just to try out the beef bulgogi abs other plates and hope that it was just a bad plate.

Chandler D.

Yelp
Be sure to GO (GI)ve them a try. Very tasty, great portion sizes, and fair prices. Be sure to call before going, hours vary. What we got: Kimbap: Korean sushi made with a sweeter rice- very refreshing Thuk Poki: Spicy Rice Cakes- by far my favorite dish. The flavor starts sweet then ends with a kick! Ojinguh Bokkeum: Spicy Squid- I loved the taste and the stir fried vegetables in the spicy sauce but the squid was tough Soon Dubu: Soft Tofu Soup- very savory soup but did not find it very spicy. Texture warning- has the consistency of a soft runny egg. Warms your soul!! Quick and flavorful Korean food! #noladelights

Nancy N.

Yelp
New place, foods aren't same and horrible services. Limited menus : no seafood nor chicken. Spaces limited to around 20 seatings! Won't come back after many years ate old place.

Alex C.

Yelp
This place was likely a Subway or something in its past life. It has that line around the eating area where people used to line up to place their orders but now it's a sitdown. Given this first appearance I was not expecting much, but they definitely live up to their name of Gogi meaning meat. I got the spicy pork and it came with so much meat I couldn't eat it all in one sitting. The kimchi pajeon was also perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. Before they brought anything out, they brought a little plate of banchan with two types of kimchi and I think bean sprouts. When they brought the food out they forgot to bring out the real banchan and I did have to ask for it but they brought out a good spread. Overall very delicious main dishes and don't let them skimp on the banchan. And they do charge a 3.4% credit card fee just so you know.

Sandra T.

Yelp
We went there with a large group. Our food took a while to cook and not all of us were eating at the same time. We had to constantly ask where is our food, all they could tell us, it's coming. Not enough staff, but thanks to Francisco that helped us get from utensils, napkins, drinks to serving the food our experience was better. Keep in mind, it is was very hot in there or AC was not working - the plates come in heated containers that only added to the heat. Would i go there? maybe not inside, perhaps order to go. The cashier was not friendly, seems to be a common thing with Korean places, not the friendliest people. Anyway!

L. W.

Yelp
The rich culture is brought out through the dishes! I enjoy eating here with my family.

Kristin D.

Yelp
This place caught my attention seeing how there isn't many options for Korean food in the area. The garlic chicken wings and Mandu dumplings were delicious, however the japchae noodles were a little rubbery for my liking. The spicy pork bulgogi wasn't very spicy either. The place it's self is very cute and is definitely a cool spot if you've never had Korean dishes and looking to try something new.

Cynthia W.

Yelp
Pretty good food! We got takeout and we're thinking the portion size was small but it's not. The food is well packaged and there was more than we thought. The location is good. Getting in the parking lot off Vets is tight. I would appreciate paper menus or if they are using laminated menu, they need to be replaced or cleaned better. The atmosphere was nice at 4:30. Pretty empty at that time. A few couples coming and going. We enjoyed everything we bought. The cheese corn was my favorite and the short ribs.

Keith H.

Yelp
Gogi has become my favorite Korean restaurant anywhere. I almost always stop by when I go to the Greater New Orleans area to get my fix of fine Korean dishes. The interior is clean and contemporary, and K-Pop videos are always playing on the big screen TVs. I think the latter is one of my favorite parts of the ambiance. The new menu comes with pictures in addition to descriptions, which is really helpful to those unfamiliar with Korean cuisine. It should be noted that when one orders a meal, one gets a number of small plates of tasty appetizers in advance of the main course. These include their wonderful kimchee, and usually hot pickles, marinated daikon radishes, tofu, etc. These are one of my favorite parts of any meal! What does one order though? This is still an area I'm exploring! The easiest and most approachable dishes is the Bibimbap. This is essentially rice and toppings served in a extremely hot stoneware bowl, so that it sizzles when it comes to your table. The various toppings can be customized or you can order a classic combination of flavors. This is a great meal by itself. Katsu is another favorite. This is a breaded and fried pork or chicken cutlet, which is then sliced into strips and served with rice and sauce on the side. Very approachable for the timid eater! Then there are the Bulgogis, these are traditional Korean BBQ meats. Very tender and flavorful! The Korean-style BBQ ribs are also great, cut very differently from western ribs. Gogi is very easy to find, and just a short distance from I-10. There is ample parking to the rear of the restaurant, so just enter the drive and go behind the building. Service is always quick and friendly, and they are glad to explain menu choices to the uninitiated. So go give Gogi a try, and enjoy some Korean cuisine!

Yelp
This is the first Korean restaurant we've tried since moving to LA. The restaurant is clean, casual and on the smaller side but people find their way and it fills up fast so go early if you don't want to wait. The staff is very nice, they efficient and do a great job overall. The prices are average $15-20, My only negative is the portions. Some portions are just enough and not over sized, but for $20 there are maybe 5 to 6 short ribs cut into smaller pieces. The flavors are amazing, everything tastes great, you also get the typical Korean pickled veggies, they only give you small bite size amounts, would be great if they gave a little more for bigger parties. The kimchi is really good, we also tried the glass noodles and spicy squid, so good! Definitely on our radar whenever we want Korean food and have been here 3 times so far!

Emily T.

Yelp
Our new favorite restaurant! The food is amazing and is cooked fresh. The ramen with egg is delicious, the seafood pancake is so tasty, it's nice and crisp with a delicious dipping sauce. The waitress is very attentive and nice. The restaurant itself is clean but on the smaller side. It gets packed so go early!

Yelp
Okaaaaay. So this was my second time at Gogi. I came in for lunch with my dad and brother, and we were seated immediately. A few minutes later, Charles greeted us and took our drink order. After, he took our order and brought out all of the banchan. I wasn't impressed AT ALL the first time - probably due to the slow service and because other people ordered for our group and I had no spicy meat options. This time was a little better WITH better service, but still mediocre although people rave about this place. I don't think Gogi is all that. We ordered the cheese corn without onions, kim chi pancake, steamed egg, spicy chicken, & LA Galbi. Banchan - very good. I wish the cucumber and Napa kim chi were spicier. Cheese corn was good for what it is - 4/5 Kim Chi Pancake - the one thing I actually loved. It was perfectly crispy and the sauce paired well 5/5 Steamed egg - decent, but I've had better 3/5 Spicy chicken - this was good although it's not really my thang. 4/5 ***LA Galbi - this is what disappointed me the most. Galbi is the main attraction when I eat Korean food. It's served already cooked and cut up. It lacked flavor and didn't have that special Korean marinade flavor like other Korean restaurants. The meat was tender, so I'll give it a 2/5. All of these dishes were shareable, but I would suggest getting your own cheese corn if you're a fiend like me. After this visit, I'm not gonna come back unfortunately.

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place yet! This review will be based on covid restrictions. If you are driving on Veterans...be careful cause you can pass up the entrance to this adorable restaurant! Parking is in the back! You will enter through the side door when you approach the restaurant. Wait outside for a few mins and browse their to go menu stuck on the TV dinner table! Once you enter...they will seat you accordingly to social distancing. For some odd reason...they ask for your name and phone number. I assume it's part of their covid protocol. The menu is two sided plus they have some extra things written in the column as you walk in. There is a limit to the Ban Cha refills (one for starters and one refill). Ban chas are side dishes that you can munch on while waiting for your food! All are homemade!!! Today I had a sweet corn mash potatoes, fried fish cakes, pickled dikons, Kim chi, pickled zucchini and pickled bean sprout! My fav is always the fried fish cakes! It's sooo good to eat with rice alone that I bought some Togo. Although the container says 16oz...it's not filled up to be 16 oz but rather 7oz worth of fish cakes. In Houston, I usually by this by the weight. On to my dishes that I have tried: Seafood pancake: super hot! Comes out freshly made with a dipping sauce! Crunchy and soft at the same time! Kimchi fries add beef: I had them make it extra crunchy which was surprisingly enjoyable! Basically it was fried then cooked in the wok (I assume) again with the mixture tossed in it. Cheese, Kim chi and beef! Soon Dubu - Soft Tofu Soup: this is my fav soup! I added seafood to make it extra hearty! The spice is just right! Tofu is surprisingly soft! Just a delicious dish to have when it's cold out or when you have a hunkering for soup! You get a side of rice with your soup! I take a scoop of rice...put it in my mouth then take a spoonful of soup to follow! I dont want to mix the rice in bc then the soup gets too mushy and starchy. Anyways...covid has been hard on everyone especially small businesses! Hope you can support this authentic Korean restaurant!

Yelp
The waiter was being rude and arrogant because we were just asking for kimchi and she was yelling and being rude.

Yelp
This place is really great. I love all their soups. They taste homemade. They have a wide variety of dumplings and apps. And their dduk bbuk gi was everything I needed it to be with firm rice cakes and just enough space. They even send the condiments to you with delivery! I highly recommend this place for the soups primarily if you want to try authentic Korea. Cooking.

Yelp
Very very rude customer service by a lady with short hair at the cash register. Went in to pick up a to go order. I could not understand what she asked me when I told her the name of the order I was picking up, so I asked her to repeat herself and she very angrily stormed off with an annoyed expression without repeating what she said. When she came back and handed me my to go order and I said "thank you" there was no response back. She just stared at me and seemed extremely annoyed. My first time coming here and will never be back.

Yelp
Gogi is a great option for korean in Metairie. The food is good enough to have me coming back. Standout items would be corn cheese, spicy pork, and the soondubu for me! The decor all throughout the restaurant is so cute! They have a gorgeous mural and soju bottles lining the windows. Portions have been getting smaller from when they first opened up but hey inflation is a thing. Only complaint I can think of is that some of the dishes seem to be on the sweeter side and you sometimes have to flag down your waiter but they usually only have one person serving the whole restaurant. Other than that this is a solid spot for korean food in the nola area!

Yelp
Korean food around NOLA? I thought it was a bad joke. I have had my fair share of Korean food, and Gogi does it more than right! It's just a tad pricy, but Korean food is a rarity around here. Gogi is like the young hip teen compared to the other of the Korean restaurants. Service is quick and great for a quick bite. It's got all the classics- tongdak fried chicken, tofu soup, bulgogi, spare ribs, and spicy chicken are all my favorites. It's like home comfort food even though I'm not Korean. I may be able to try all these foods during my tenure in NOLA! The banchan(sides) are fresh and unlimited-- a staple for a Korean restaurant. The portions are hefty so I enjoy every time I come here. During the holidays, catch their soju (classic Korean alcohol) Christmas tree made of the empty bottles.

Yelp
Came for the seafood pancakes and ate my weight in sizzling meats... so not a bad night. I was recommended Gogi by a coworker and I am a sucker for Korean, so it was worth a trip to Metairie. The atmosphere is simple and clean, with photo menus and k-pop playing in the background. We ordered the seafood pancake, their steamed dumplings, and the kimchi dumplings to start. The food took a few minutes to arrive, which made me feel like they were making everything fresh--always a good sign. In the meantime we enjoyed the small plates of veggies, including kimchi, pickled jalapeño, bean sprouts, radish, onion, and zucchini, spicy bean curd, broccoli and peppers, and some sort of mashed potato. The fish pancake was screaming hot and crispy. It tasted much better after it cooled a bit. The seafood was a tad chewy and the pancake was less full of the flavors of the sea than I wanted but was still mighty tasty with the provided dipping sauce. The steamed buns were exactly what you crave in a steamed bun- soft and pillowy on the outside with a sweet and tangy stuffing. My favorite was the crunchy kimchi dumplings though- they had a touch of spice and they were oh so crispy. For mains my friend ordered the marinated chicken and a soju, whereas I opted for the bulgogi. Unfortunately the bulgogi was a tad sweet for me and I actually preferred her chicken. Next time I'm going for the spicy pork or spicy chicken-- I like some heat in my dishes! I'd also like to try the silken tofu soup (a favorite of mine) and the red bean desserts. Next time! Tl;dr: worth a trip if you're in Metairie. Korean is the perfect cuisine for those with food ADD-- so many things to sample!

Yelp
We used to love going here. Unfortunately it has been going down hill. They ran out of a regular white rice so they subbed it with some sort of purple tint rice. They also ran out of kimchi fried rice and was no longer serving beer. The portions for our food is smaller than what it used to be. Keep in mind, everything on their menu increased in price and it doesn't even taste as good anymore. Every time we came to this place, there is always 1 server running 5+ tables by themselves while taking togo phone calls. Unfortunately our server couldn't keep up with the tables when we were there to dine in. Multiple customers near us were not having it. The lady was very nice and sweet but I would just say they are short staffed. Lastly and most importantly, it was very dirty and very unorganized in that restaurant. I have never seen stuff laying down everywhere with boxes stacked up. I mean seriously.... make your restaurant presentable if you want customers to come there and eat.

Yelp
My fiancé and I stopped by weeks ago for the first time. Since then, we have ordered a few times. Each time, I have ordered the Kimchi Jjigae. It has been consistently flavorful and tasty. If you haven't had it before, it's not for the faint of heart; it is quite spicy, and does have some ingredients where the textures could be "weird" to some. (I personally love "weird" textures; my fiancé doesn't see it the same way. This has rice cakes and tofu, as well as kimchi and some pork.) My fiancé has settled on the ramen, adding an egg and cheese. I've never found ramen to be that exciting, and invariably leave disappointed -- except for Gogi's ramen. It is absolutely delicious. I'm a fan of the kimchi options they give. We have also enjoyed the kimchi fries (soooo tasty!) and their mandu. This place isn't the very very best Korean I've ever had, but it is damn good, and I find myself happy to have a place that's at least this good nearby. And for those of you who didn't know -- Kimchi Jjigae is a wonderful hangover cure. You're welcome!

Yelp
Food and service is about as good as it gets at this little whole in the wall shop. This food is amazing, hot, delicious and prepared well.

Yelp
The ttokbokii and wings are my favorites. They also give kimchi and rice with the delivery order. It's my not in Korea but watching a Korean drama go to snack!

Yelp
Went there with my Korean wife and two doctors and the cashier made it a point to tell us what they don't have. She practically said we don't want your business. Cold, rude and wouldn't eat there if it was free. Never in my life was I treated so rude.

Yelp
Food was not great. I'm very disappointed!!! Spent almost $100. They gave us very little kim chi and corn as well.

Yelp
Went to this place on a recommendation for dinner with 4 other people. It was out of our way, but still wanted to go to try it out. Arrived before 6pm so they had only been open for less than an hour for dinner and the lady behind the counter greeted us by saying "40 minute wait". My friend was like "ok" then the lady pulled out the menu and pointed to at least 5 items they did not have on the top page then flipped it over and pointed to another 5 items they were not serving on the back page. Then topped it off by saying "no beer and no soju". There was only three other tables w people dining at the time. It was not busy at all. It was Sunday - post game day. This lady clearly did not want to serve us. Never in my life have I experienced this. Gogi, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Korean options are limited in NOLA so step up or step out. I am Korean, by the way. Very disappointed.

Yelp
My husband and I came here on a whim after flying into the New Orleans airport. I love Korean food and always try to visit Korean restaurants whenever possible. This spot opened about a year ago and I'm so glad we tried it. I would describe the atmosphere as fast-casual and upbeat. Our server was very attentive and friendly. She brought plenty of side dishes as we were making our menu selections. We ordered chicken wings with garlic soy sauce as an appetizer and split an order of short ribs (galbi) and spicy beef stew (yukae jang). My husband loved the chicken wings and we both really enjoyed the short ribs. Great flavor for both dishes! Honestly we could have only split the order of the short ribs because of the generous portion size but now I have delicious soup for dinner!! Our waitress even packed our favorite side dishes to-go so I could enjoy the meal again at home. I can't wait to come back. Definitely give this place a try if you're craving a quick Korean fix. This is my new favorite Korean restaurant in the area.
