Where to Find the Best Korean Restaurants in and Around New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"A breezy, casual spot on Veterans Boulevard offering traditional flavors such as corn cheese, kimbap, thuk poki (spicy rice cakes), and kimchi pajean (pancake). The spicy silky tofu stew is described as divine, and the ramen with grilled kimchi is praised; the seafood pancake features shrimp, clams, mussels, and squid. Meaty options like bulgogi, short ribs, and spicy pork come ready to eat from the kitchen." - Beth D’Addono

Google
What a phenomenal find. Away from Korean barbecue because of having to cook it themselves, this is your spot. Not only does this spot have some of the best quality ingredients that we’ve seen, but they also make sure to professionally cook it at your table. We got an assortment of appetizers as well. One of our favorites was the spicy rice cakes that had squid and shrimp. This is definitely a nice dinner out with an amazing space and amazing staff.

Tonight was my first time dining here, and it was nothing short of exceptional. This place isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an experience! The menu offers a fantastic variety of dishes, each prepared right before your eyes. Every bite was bursting with flavor, making for an unforgettable meal. From the atmosphere to the service, everything was absolutely perfect. I can’t wait to come back!

Google
Absolutely amazing experience! Simon and his staff are truly a pleasure! Everyone is very friendly! Staff cooked everything to perfection! Highly recommend to visit and experience this cuisine! Make sure to order Sake and try an appetizer such as the Seared Tuna and a Sushi Roll. The Wagyu and Filet Mignon is a must with dinner.

Google
What an incredible restaurant! From its magic stunning decor, to it's gorgeous food presentation and the attentive friendly staff that brings on the good times! We ate and drank our hearts out. We had mocktails and cocktails, dumplings, double tacos, egg souffle, seafood pancakes. I actually can't eat seafood and they were so accommodating of that, made my food first for our entree and to perfection. We all loved our meals and has a great time interacting with the staff. They made it an incredible experience! Dessert is also a must when coming here! Perfect spot for anything: date night, family night, a celebration or even to grab a meal alone!

Google
We came here for the first time with some friends - absolutely lovely date night spot! (Reservations definitely recommended for a Friday night - it was busy!) Food was spectacular - both of us couples did the chef's selection, came with many small dishes in addition to a variety of meats. This was my first Korean BBQ experience where they cooked it for you! Everything was prepared perfectly, the food was delicious, and the service/atmosphere was wonderful. I wish I could remember our server/chefs name (Johnny?) - he was fabulous. We also enjoyed their cocktails. I can personally recommend the lychee martini and the dirty martini - both will knock your socks off. We will absolutely be back soon !

My husband and I came for lunch for our first time, and absolutely loved this restaurant, the food quality is 10/10. Our chef Simon and waitress were the best. We will certainly be back, and recommend this place.

Google
This truly was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had! I would 100000% recommend Gogi, the sleek, modern ambiance is perfect for an intimate date night, or a casual meal with a group of friends. This was an immersive dining experience we won’t forget. We started with an array of appetizers, each more delightful than the last. The pork bao buns were pillowy soft and packed with flavorful, tender pork that had just the right balance of sweet and savory. The spicy Szechuan pork dumplings were a real highlight - the dumplings were perfectly cooked, with the Szechuan sauce bringing a slow-building heat that enhanced the pork filling without overpowering it. The shrimp tempura roll was a refreshing palate cleanser, offering a light, crispy bite with fresh shrimp and delicate flavors. Finally, the spicy seafood soup was both comforting and bold, with a rich broth that brought out the flavors of fresh seafood while delivering a satisfying spicy kick. A definite must try! For our main course, we opted for the Butcher's Feast. This feast is a true celebration of quality meat, and it exceeded our expectations. The selection of premium cuts was impeccable, with each piece of meat grilled to perfection at the table. The accompanying banchan (side dishes) added layers of flavor and texture to the meal, from spicy kimchi to fresh greens and pickled vegetables. Overall, Gogi offers a dining experience that combines quality ingredients, attentive service, and a genuine taste of Korean barbecue. It's a must-visit for anyone in Westport looking for a memorable meal.

Google
This was such a unique and cool experience! I’d never done Korean Barbecue before and really enjoyed it. Simon was super helpful guiding us through and the spicy garlic sauce on the chicken & the wagyu steak were outstanding. Plus the cocktails are great (especially the lychee martini!!) and the decor is beautiful. Definitely worth the visit.

Yelp
Really wonderful food and a great experience! Came here with my family for a late lunch/early dinner. The Waygu beef was out of this world, and the other cuts were also darn good. I really loved the side dishes as well and they are "all you can eat" but don't fill up on them because the meat is the highlight. My daughter is vegetarian, and they had a lot of choices for her. This place is pricey, but it also is a can't miss experience in my opinion

Yelp
Truthfully, we wanted to love this space so much but felt it did not meet our expectations. We had to be moved from our table due to the grill not working after we were settled, but was more so gestured as they did not communicate what was going on with us. The interior was pretty and the tables are well spaced out. The silverware and overall space was very clean which I appreciate! This is not the typical authentic Korean BBQ that I'm familiar with. We found the cost did not align with the quality of the meat nor did it match what was promised. The marinated meat did not taste marinated nor did it have the traditional Korean marinade we are familiar with. Unfortunately there was a situation occurring at another table which took every server away for about an hour. It could have been handled better as we were waiting to ask for our check for a long time. The staff was nice and the side dishes were unlimited, it was just not a typical Korean BBQ experience. We likely won't return as this is far from us, but we hope it does well and makes improvement!

Yelp
Amazing service and high quality beef; would come again. Very kind and helpful to us.

Yelp
Recently ate at gogi. The service and atmosphere was great. I think for the overall price of the food it could've tasted better. If you are looking for that korean bbq expierence gogi is great they cook the food for you, your not cooking it yourself. The food came out quickly and it was easy to get a reservation last minute .

Yelp
Stopped here on my way back from work. Was stuck in traffic and starving so I looked for a place that served sundubu. Found this place as the best option and my judgement was right. I went between lunch and dinner. It was quiet at that time, but still so inviting. Service was fast, and overall optimal. I was greeted by a server who also took care of me. I ordered the soup (sundubu) that came with a side of white rice which is standard. It was absolutely delicious. I ordered a pretty martini, think it was passion fruit flavored with ginger beer. It didn't taste as strong as other martinis I've had in the past but I think that was the point. I'm without a doubt hitting this spot back up when I'm over that way again. At the end, the server gave me a complimentary ice cream, and a discounted coupon. I was very happy with my experience and outcome.

Yelp
First heard about this restaurant on social media and I was excited to try it. They offer lots of options aside from the Korean BBQ like sushi, a variety of Asian appetizers like dumplings, baos, shumai and salads. The lobster option for Korean BBQ was a favorite... so delicious!! Great service! The staff was very friendly and made the experience enjoyable. Big shoutout to Simon! Good atmosphere! It was beautiful inside with the gold touches. It is located in a busy location in downtown Westport and parking can be tough to find, which is my only con. Will plan to be back.

Yelp
GOGI - Westport, CT is a unique dining experience featuring a mix of Korean Barbecue and Sushi! The highlight? Watching the chef prepare your Korean Barbecue right at your table. Our server Simon was awesome! If you're looking to try something new, GOGI is a must-visit spot in Westport! Here's what we tried! Mango Avocado Roll Bao (Pork Buns) Mango Tango Seared Tuna Spicy Korean Pork Dumplings Chef's Feast: Lamb Chops, Filet Mignon, Lobster, Galbi Fried Ice Cream Ginger Martini Lychee Martini

Yelp
This Korean Steakhouse puts hibachi to shame. We had such a fun time with our server Simon and all the other amazing staff. The food is cooked right in front of you while they put on a show. We left with our bellies full and happy. The restaurant is a great place for a GNO, date night, or any special occasion! We highly recommend reservations as the seating is limited.

Yelp
This restaurant was great. The food is top notch and so the pricing reflects that. WE got the butcher combo which had 4 meats and it was plenty for 2 of us. The staff was so helpful when explaining the menu and all the sides that come to the table. We also got the vegetable spring rolls which were phenomenal. Highly recommend checking this place out. The ambiance was great, spread out between tables, slightly dimmed lighting, upbeat music.

Yelp
This is a Chinese interpretation of Korean and Japanese pop culture food offerings. For a quick introduction to the edges of Korean cuisine, this place may please the demographic area. There is a lack of Seoul ;). Food has distinctive Chinese and generic Korean household brand taste. This may be satisfy the kbbq urge without necessarily traveling to New Haven/norwalk/stamford/ft Lee/queens/32nd street. I would say it's a faux Korean restaurant that tries its best to capture the trending food market but not for authenticity seekers. I recommend the unmarinated choices and elect to dip into the sauces.

Yelp
Loved it! Friendly service. Good food. Lots of energy in the music. Our group tried: Pork dumplings Pork buns Duck buns Bbq: filet, shrimp, and short ribs All the sides - one better than the next So good. So good. They gave us a frequent flyer card; go 5 times get a voucher for $200. Also received a coupon for $40 off next visit if go in the next four week.

Yelp
Love this nice, new, modern spot! The one thing I will say is that it's a bit darker than I thought was necessary. The decor was nice and chic, but we could barely see anything! Food wise, the coconut soup was delicious - lots of seafood and really good taste. It was SUPER hot for a while even after it was served. For $10 it was a good portion. We got the seasoned bulgogi bbq and seasoned shrimp bbq. Both were delicious. The one thing we didn't like was that the beef pieces were thick and a bit chewy. I wish there was the same amount but cut thinner. The flavor of both was great. We could not get enough of all the accompanying sides and we loved that they continued to refill any we wanted. The octopus and cucumber salad were our favorites. We also got the spicy Korean dumplings which were amazing! Small portion of 4 but was enough for us. The seafood pancake was SO crispy and good - bigger app portion. Delicious. Service was really good - they were very attentive. Jose cooked our bulgogi and shrimp for us and was very personable and kind.

Yelp
Being able to experience Korean bbq once again after having it when I was stationed in Korea was a dope experience having it with my kids! You don't get to cook your own meal, but the service and ambiance was on point! Drinks with delicious, food was yummy as can be! We will be going back for sure!

Yelp
We came in after a nice short hike on the earth place trails. The restaurant is located in a small plaza. With 2 parking lots to choose from, there was no struggle finding a spot to park. The inside is very pretty and has dark lighting, making the ambiance good for romantic meals. The service was spot on, and they do take samsung Pay and apple Pay in case you forget your wallet like we did, lol. We did not try the bbq, but we were able to sample 4 dishes, and all of them were super tasty. The food came very quickly after being ordered. The prices are about what you would expect from westport. I would certainly recommend giving this place a try!

Yelp
We came here after a cold walk at Earthplace (7 minutes away) and boy was this the perfect way to warm up! You don't have to get KBBQ here. For two people ordered: Hot Tea Seaweed Salad Coconut soup Seafood Pancake Korean Rice Noodle Going in order starting with the hot tea - it was a pot of delicious green tea with roasted rice. The rice gives it a hearty, comforting flavor and aroma. Don't worry the rice doesn't end up in your cup. The pot is big enough for two people to each have 4 small cups. Get this on a cold day! The seaweed salad was comparable to any other seaweed salad, except it came with slivered cucumbers. The coconut soup reminded me of tom yum soup. It had a few pieces of shrimp and squid, and also tomato and pineapple. There was a nice lime flavor in the broth. This soup is a light yet slightly creamy way to start the meal. Getting onto the seafood pancake this was unlike any other seafood pancake I've had before. It must have been practically deep fried because it was suuuper crispy. It was very satisfying and easy to eat. It was not overly bready and had a good ratio of green onions and seafood inside. This is my new favorite style of seafood pancake. Now my favorite: Korean rice noodle (Tteokbokki). This had perfectly cooked squid and shrimp that carried a slightly grilled flavor. It was a decent portion size and could easily serve as a small meal for two. It is slightly spicy and has a small bit of diced peppers and onions. The ambiance and staff made us feel comfortable. There was chill house music playing. We came on Sunday at noon and the place was surprisingly empty. I'm sure it won't be that way for long. Check out this restaurant and remember you don't have to get the KBBQ!

George Y.

Yelp
Food is amazing here at Gogi; much better than any other KBBQ in southern CT. Definitely get the galbi which is not marinated but seasoned to perfection. The staff will cook table side for you and ensure it's made how you like it. To top it off, we got free ice cream at the end of the meal. Will be a frequent customer.

Yadira T.

Yelp
The food was incredible, this was my first time at this restaurant. A cool feature is that there's a grill in the center of the table where the BBQ items are cooked to your liking! Simon, and the rest of the staff provided a wonderful service. The overall aesthetic and vibe give for a wonderful ambiance. The ambiance is great for families and friends. The parking is free and easily accessible.

Yelp
If you want the best Korean BBQ experience in CT, you have to visit Gogi! We've had Korean BBQ before, but this experience was on another level! When we've done Korean BBQ at other places in the past, the restaurants are usually really smoky, and though they're typically all-you-can-eat, you have to cook everything yourself. Sometimes I feel like I don't know what I'm doing and that I could've cooked the meat better. Gogi is not an all-you-can-eat style restaurant, but I much rather prefer quality over quantity. We had the Butcher's Feast for 2, which came with 4 different types of meats, each at 6 ounces: A5 Wagyu (the highest grade you can get - the marbeling was impressive), Bulgogi (boneless short rib), galbi (bone-in short rib), and filet mignon. It's pricey but well worth it. I was so glad that the staff came to our table to cook the meat for us, because they seasoned everything perfectly, and the restaurant wasn't filled with smoke! The meal came with a variety of traditional Korean banchan, or small side dishes, and we really enjoyed the fried rice. The staff even showed us how to make a traditional Korean lettuce wrap with our meat and banchan. Gogi also has sushi on their menu in addition to other Asian dishes, and we loved the chicken tempura & cream cheese roll we had for an appetizer. My fiancé had a wasabi-tini that was perfectly spicy for him, and I enjoyed the mocktail they made for me! For dessert, we shared a chocolate lava cake and refreshing passionfruit & mango layer cake. Gogi really won our hearts - this was truly one of the best meals and experiences we've had recently. They've earned a spot as one of new favorite restaurants in CT!
google avatar

Greg B.

Yelp
Great ambiance, service and food! We had the chefs feast and supplemented it with the pork belly. Everything was excellent and staff very helpful as this was our first time.
google avatar

Rafael C.

Yelp
This place is just an amazing overall experience. Simon the GM of the restaurant was just so attentive to explained every food and drink that it was served to us. The experience of having someone cooking right on your table is just so satisfying and you can see that they don't use any ingredients that you don't want on your meats, the sides are super good personally the garlic oil was the best for me. The steak are first class and are imported as well as their desserts which by the way incredible quality and not super sweet. This is great place for families or a nice date dinner.
google avatar

Ian J.

Yelp
One of our favorite places to go since we've moved to the area! The food truly is spectacular and always tastes great. They cook the food for you in the middle and ensure you are always getting delicious BBQ. Make sure you have them add the spicy garlic if you pick the chicken or shrimp. It's the perfect extra kick! Don't sleep on the appetizers or drinks either, we try something new each time and have not been disappointed once. Definitely give this place a try!
google avatar

Jane L.

Yelp
Amazing food with amazing service! We loved the decor, which was sophisticated. Perfect place for a date night and celebrations. There were 3 parties having their birthday dinners when we were there! We had the Korean bbq including wagyu which was high quality. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Veronica W.

Yelp
I went to the place twine in the past and had decent experience. But I had a really bad dinner lady night. Wondering if they changed owner recently? Appetizers were not fresh, everything was stale. Ordered double taco, the salmon one taste bad, tuna is ok. Sichuan dumplings were obviously from a frozen bag. Also ordered Berkshire pork belly and beef. The pork is thick and hard. Beef is okay. BBQ sauce also taste super salty, far away from authentic Korean. It is the worst Korean BBQ I ever had!
google avatar

Monica C.

Yelp
The atmosphere is impressive, the service excellent, the drinks delicious, and not to mention the incredibly tasty food. It was our first time trying Korean BBQ, and we left very satisfied, eager to return soon. I highly recommend it,
google avatar

Izzy A.

Yelp
Best ambiance, food, and service. Ask for Simon! The drinks are prompt. Sushi and BBQ out of this world. They cook it to perfection. Great date spot
google avatar

Pamela P.

Yelp
Let's talk experience, food and service... My husband picked this restaurant for our date night and I was thinking can this be anything like gyu kaku which is our favorite Korean bbq... this makes the OG Korean bbq look like table scraps Let me set the scene... You sit down and they bring over 10 appetizers and sauces. Okay... let's go! The corn app was one of the best things I have ever had and the edamame was insane. Then eveything from the sushi to the dumplings were Perfection. The service was PERFECT and the vibe was so romantic. The bulgogi and the shrimp was insane on the grill- they cook it for you and confirm it's to your liking. It was so so good. Finally they gave us a creme brûlée cheesecake ON THE HOUSE- that was better than the factory of the same name. To end it our waiter Simon gave us a 40 Dollar credit for next visit which I will be counting down the moments until we are back and I can use. This place is hidden down a flight of stairs- worth the searching to find it. YES

Yelp
Came here last weekend for boyfriend bday! Food is very delicious! Filet Mignon and chicken were so good! Service is outstanding! Easy parking. Regarding parking: Parking is at back of building, go down brick stairs to gain access to restaurant quickly. Great drinks! Definitely recommend! We will visit againsoon :)
google avatar

Carly G.

Yelp
This restaurant is really hidden and not enough people know about it. I had been wanting to come here for awhile and I loved it! This place was my first Korean BBQ and I will definitely be going to more

Jo V.

Yelp
Food is decent, was hoping it was better and it's expensive especially if choose meat dishes. Service was very good as servers were attentive and helped to cook as it was our first time there. Ambiance was nice if you like a South Beach sort of vibe.
google avatar

Rapeephan S.

Yelp
Excellent dishes. I had Bulgogi and my husband had Wagyu steak. The kimchi, vegtable and side dishes that are Included in the Barbecue were yummy. The waiter & waitress asked if we wanted more. Appetizers were duck bun and glass noodle both were great. I had lychee martini and my husband had martini. The menu is different than Wafu and there is more food to choose. It was busy and fun atmosphere. The service was the best. Everyone say hi! Thank you to Saimon & the team. We will be back.

Lt S.

Yelp
Great food, service and ambiance. We ordered chicken and Bulgogi. Lots of free side dishes will ensure you don't leave hungry. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Carol M.

Yelp
Outstanding food and service!!!! Simon and Eileen were extremely attentive and the many complimentary shots and the $80 off coupon for the next visit, were such a nice touch!

Hollie M.

Yelp
This spot is so yummy. It's our go to special celebration restaurant. Even our picky kids eat most of the options.
google avatar

Lauren E.

Yelp
Looking for a spot for a special occasion? Look no further than Gogi in Westport. You don't have to travel all the way to NYC to get your hands on beautifully marbled A5 Miyazaki Wagyu they have both ribeye and chuck roll. And I was pleasantly surprised by their marinated lobster tail and friendly and attentive service for the table side bbq. I started off with spicy pork & glass noodles to get my appetite going and enjoyed 6 unique banchans at my spacious table. They have a large menu, but I know I will be back just for the A5 Wagyu. Also, save room for dessert! (Mango Passion fruit cake is awesome!!)

Alexa G.

Yelp
The sea shack bowl is the best! Service is 10/10, great atmosphere, high quality food! Will definitely be back soon,

Jane K.

Yelp
Nothing about this restaurant is Korean. I have never ever seen tomatoes in a tofu soup, in my life. I am so disappointed and so frustrated with the owners.
google avatar

Marley K.

Yelp
This is a festive authentic Korean barbecue with a fun-date vibe and high-quality food. Your choice of meat is grilled at you table and it comes with many small vegetable sides that get refilled if you want. I'd definitely come again. It's little hard to find but definitely worth it. A lot of food for the price.

Sherri B.

Yelp
Amazing wagyu, shrimp grilled with a quick sear at the end, perfection! Cooked on a charcoal grill right at our table! We're still dreaming of the pork fried rice which arrived at our table steaming! And the sushi rolls! Highly recommend!

Detlef M.

Yelp
"Worst or actually only bad Bulgogi, we ever had in any Korean restaurant anywhere ! The meat was tough/chewy, neither aged nor marinated ! W/out the condiments/spices on the side, it was absolutely tasteless. The sides were ok, service too, albeit with hardly any English speaking ability so that communication was very limited. We'll definitely not go back there".
google avatar

Gyaljen Nuru F.

Yelp
Service is super good here, Simone is great guy, he guided us and explained how the menu works. It was run by different owner and now it is under new management, I wish them well and lots of luck. Food is good, but super friendly service. We will be back Stay here long time
google avatar

Alissa S.

Yelp
From start to finish this meal was phenomenal. The food was incredible, the drinks were great and the staff was amazing. The staff was wonderfully attentive and helpful in explaining how everything about the tabletop bbq went. My husband and I just had a wonderful time. Unfortunately we didn't catch the waiter or the table side cooks name but they were just so nice and helpful. We will absolutely be going back.

Catelyn C.

Yelp
The food wand overall experience was exquisite! Simon was so attentive and caring with helping my friend and I understand the menu and helping us make the best choices for us. The restaurant was beautiful, with an atmosphere that is versatile for family, friends, or romance. We thoroughly enjoyed our experiences and will 100% return with family and friends.

Lila S.

Yelp
We really enjoyed Gogi. Great food, service and drinks. We started with the veggie spring rolls and rock shrimp. Both were delicious!! Everyone on our party had the Korean barbecue which was very tasty. The small side dishes were also very good. The atmosphere was nice; there was a good vibe. We look forward to going back.

Dana B.

Yelp
Love at first bite #koreanbbq. We had an amazing experience @gogikoreansteakhouse from service to quality, everything was exceptional. Danalicious approved Lychee martini Gogi sampler Tempura shrimp roll 28-day aged rib eye Galbi (Beef Short Rib with bone) Filet Mignon Lobster Tail Pork Fried rice Have you tried Korean BBQ?

Arya R.

Yelp
Exceptional food and service. All of the banchan tasted house made and was some of the best we've had including a garlic oil sauce which was amazing on the beef and something we've never seen before. Coconut soup was delicious, much more complex flavor than a typical coconut soup. Spicy and savory with a little sweetness. The service was outstanding, perfectly cooked beef and refilled our banchan quickly.
google avatar

Doc V.

Yelp
We were attracted to the amazing reviews and super excited to dine at Gogi's. Unfortunately, the menu is limited and the bbq main entrees cost about $55-60++ per person which we didn't expect! There were no complimentary traditional Banchan side dishes that came with our meals unlike all of the previous Korean restaurants we've dined at for over 30 years. Portion sizes were small and our overall culinary experience was not impressive. Seems like the restaurant is more concerned about asking customers for five star Yelp reviews (which we overheard the waiter asking for at the adjacent table) than delivering quality food and service. Ambiance was dark and claustrophobic with loud club type music. We didn't feel genuine heart and soul in food preparation or service. Felt regret after dining here. We're glad other customers might've enjoyed their experience, but this was not the place for our family.
google avatar

Don B.

Yelp
Food was good but Disney compared to NYC Korean BBQ Prices were reasonable. Service staff was friendly but not as attentive as I would have expected. We waiting 15-20 min to catch the eye of someone to bring us the check
google avatar

Eric S.

Yelp
First time here for date night and I was blown away. My expectations were low. I have not really experienced good Korean food. But this is Korean bbq which is "like Japanese Hibachi" where the meal is prepared in front of you. But this is less entertainment (cuz I don't like hibachi) and more just a savory and well catered celebration of good food. Very attentive staff and top service. Also great atmosphere. Delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
Hidden gem in Westport. Gogi is located in a courtyard behind Anthropologie so it's a little hard to find. Restaurant is very pretty and comfortable. We had beef bulgogi and salmon bulgogi. Side dishes were delicious and the right amount of spice for an American palate. In table cooking was fun and almost like being in Korea. Next time I might try their poke bowls or sushi. I'd highly recommend you try Gogi.
