Ok, so this place was amazing food-wise. The bread was good, fresh, and obviously homemade. I loved their pastries and the variety they had. They looked well crafted and they definitely tasted well crafted. I, personally, got two flat pastries. The first one is a strawberry dessert with blueberries in the center and the second is a flatbread-type pastry with caramelized onions, baked cheese, and parmesan. Both were amazing. I will say, this is not a proper lunch place so definitely keep that in mind before coming. As for the service and atmosphere? Somebody came out to give us samples as we were waiting in line, which is already a plus, and the style was so very "little French bakery" that I loved it. Let me tell you, this place was better than some of the places I went to in Paris. Now, on to the couple things I didn't really enjoy. The first being when they open, because, opening up at 1:30pm can be really difficult for customers to come by especially when they live out of town but work in town and they just don't have time. The second is the way our cashier packed our bag. I don't know why she did it, but she put my two flat items (easily crushed items) on the bottom of the bag and put five different items on top. Getting my strawberry pastry out of the bag became an excavation project. Please please please bag this better! The third and last thing is probably the price. A single pastry was around 8-9 dollars which can be a lot of you add more things. Definitely a pay-for-the-quality place. Overall, I loved this place and it has earned its spot in my favorites.

Google
Extremely friendly staff operating this amazing bread bakery! They have a ton of options to choose from, including savory and sweet. They also sell ice cream!

Ami Halbur

Google
Absolutely delightful. The two bakers we met were so kind and helped us make delicious bread choices. And we got espresso and gelato on the spot. I will never forget how incredible the bread is here.

Michel Abood

Google
Very nice service and the place smells great, but these aren't traditional baguettes or epi (which is what we thought we were getting), they're more sourdough so denser. Very flavorful, however, just be aware that it's not a real baguette.

Rob Thompson

Google
Great bakery! I really don’t need the French accent act! Maybe people love it, just not for me. I just came back from Paris after a week and never had that act. Anyways

Google
The owner is really really nice and greets all the people waiting in line with great energy and free samples. The olive bread is excellent, as are all their offerings. Order online first to avoid leaving empty handed.

Crystal Solorio

Google
The sweetest, nicest owners. I love that they greet each customer. They gave my daughter a mini baguette that she absolutely loved. The atmosphere here is great and the bread is superb.

Heather Gallegos

Google
Very friendly staff and all the food we got (cinnamon loaf, chocolate filled pastry) was excellent! Definitely will be back to try more.

Yelp
Spacious nice place with a good enter & exit flow and outdoor seating. The staff are super nice and helpful. They offered free samples and moved chairs around to accommodate customers. We got a Ham sandwich with cheese & butter, loved it. Great fresh baguette, perfect balance of ham, cheese & butter. Also got a baguette and sesame bread to go. Everyone walked out of this place chewing on something and looking happy. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Stumbled on this place looking for a little snack, and I am honestly glad I did. Immediately, when you walk in, you are greeted by the sweetest lady giving out free samples (which was delicious) and welcoming us in with "bonjours." Her enthusiasm for the restaurant made me smile and felt like she truly cared about her customers. I got two pastries that were delicious and flavorful. The bread had a nice texture and the fruit gave a great contrast/ tartness to the pastry. I was a little worried about this place being overhyped; however, I was pleasantly surprised with them. Be wary though, that they do not have that much seating. Around 4 tables with 2 seats each outside. Some of the tables were in the shade and some were not, so depending on the weather, it can be really nice to be outside. Definitely would recommend this place to any pastry/ bread lovers. They also have some ice cream if you wanted to try that as well.

Yelp
Bread is amazing! We had a baguette, Jalapeño bread and few pastries. Everything is fresh and delicious . Wish they extend their hours of operations .

Rachel P.

Yelp
This place lives up to all the stellar reviews and hype. This is our second time here and both visits exceeded our expectations. Best bread and outstanding service. Seriously-it's that delicious. Went on a Friday at 2:30 and there wasn't a line. Our first time here, we came at opening on a Saturday and there was a line that moved quickly. Everything that we have ordered has been unbelievably delicious. Also love the way they wrap the bread in paper-it's old timey and cute.

Yelp
The hours are later than other bakeries- 1:30-9:00. We came here 5 minutes before they opened and there was a line outside. It went pretty quickly though. When we left, the line mostly cleared. I'm not a big fan of bread, but wanted to give the place a try seeing as they have 5 stars. I ordered a cup of mango sherbet, garlic bread, and a fruit brioche. The sherbet was nice for the hot day. Both breads were good too- nice crust. I can see why the place has such high ratings.
google avatar

Stephanie A.

Yelp
Amazing friendly staff with tasty local artisan bread. So why not 5 stars you ask? That's because I still have my #1 local bakery that holds true to my heart. The staff here are sweethearts. Friendly, warm and welcoming. Just like their bread. They have a nice variety to choose from. The bonus is that they're open late. Really late. 9pm in fact. Two thumbs up for this place

Yelp
I just ordered a simple baguette. I thought it had some well developed gluten with a soft and chewy interior, a nice rise, and a toasty crust. I really liked the strong yeasty flavor that came through every bite! The other pastries didn't really catch my eye but I'm definitely stopping by again the next time I'm in town

Yelp
I was recommended to Goguette Bread recently and was told "Everything" is delicious! I placed an online order a week in advance for Saturday pick up; Pain de Campagne, Pain à l'ail - Garlic bread, Coup de Coeur, Brioche Provençale. When I arrived shortly before opening, a short line already formed. At 1:30pm opening time, the doors was thrown open and I heard BONJOUR as customers filed in. Everyone in line was offered free samples of their bread. Upon arriving at the register, I was greeted with another BONJOUR! I felt like I was transported back to Paris when during my honeymoon, I wandered around the city to various bakeries and cafes. It gave me Paris vibes for sure! From the striped shirts, white pants and red hats and the echos of friendly greetings, I was loving the vibrancy, customer service and the fresh smell of bread everywhere! My bread was packed on the spot after my order was pulled up. I absolutely loved all the bread, so soft and warm and best of all, gluten free. I will definitely be back and next time try their ice cream as well!

Yelp
Maybe the ever bakery in Sonoma county. Unbelievable breads and French oriented sweets form real European craftsmen and women. Incredible variety of flavored and ingredient laden goodies. The brioche is divine. The baguettes are legendary. Not a fan of the ice cream but I'm in the minority on that one. Great cookies. The wait can be my long but you can preorder in their easy to use website. This is a must try for all!!!!! Full disclosure, the pics are not my own. I forgot to take pictures because I was so enthralled with the looks and smells..and I'm lame.

Yelp
I don't know if it was because I was tipsy after coming here from Russian River, but this is a gem. I wanted to buy everything but limited myself to a fleurette and a mini loaf of olive bread. The bread is so simple yet so delicious. The fleurette reminded me of epi bread with sesame seeds and poppy seeds, the toasted seed aroma just quickened the devourment of it. The outer layer had a good crisp, you can hear the crunch with every bite, but it wasn't hard where you couldn't bite it directly. The inner portion was so moist and soft. I didn't check the time, but it probably took me less than 30 minutes to eat the whole thing. It was as big as my head too. #proud I saved the mini loaf for the next day, and I was very surprised at how well the texture was maintained. I didn't really do any special storage, just kept it in the original paper wrapping. Did not taste stale at all. A very dangerous but well loved spot indeed. Oh and they have gelato, but BREAD!
google avatar

Madeline C.

Yelp
Great bread and service. The garlic bread was very delicious and had a slightly sour taste so I assume it was sourdough. They recently started selling ice cream and that caught me off guard since I didn't think they sold ice cream. The lady kindly let me try as many as I wanted but I just tried two or three. The pistachio flavor was great since it didn't have artificial coloring or almond extract. You could definitely taste the quality and the flavor of the pistachio. The bakery is gorgeous with great lighting. Only drawback I have is the price. It was $14 for a really small loaf and a really small scoop of ice cream. I understand everything is rlly expensive however this was shocking to me. I would still return but that just caught me off guard.

Yelp
This place is actually SO delightful, from the ambiance the second you walk in (I mean you actually feel like you're in a little Parisian bakery), to the always friendly staff, to the incredible pastries and bread alike...it feels like a whole different world from Santa Rosa! Definitely give this place a visit if you're in the area, you won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Yelp
They have expanded (a while back) so the line isn't as long now. Not that waiting in line is a problem...they come out with "tastes" so you can sample something you maybe haven't had before and it's part of the fun. Chatting with people you don't know but who love bread as much as you do. They make ice cream now (wonderful unique flavors like violet or pear) and they have seating outside so you can enjoy it. Watching people and being in the moment.

Yelp
What a great spot! Odd hours for a bakery but that suits me just fine! Only recently started going to Goguette, but quickly made a habit out of it after trying the baked goods. Great service and super nice folks here too. Breads and pastries are sure to delight! Our favorite is the Olive bread though. This is a local gem!
google avatar

Sarah And Matt E.

Yelp
Not just an amazing boulangerie anymore! Now Goguette is also a glacerie! Their bread is delicious as is the entirety of their baked goods. Even a few pastries to choose from these days. But tonight we went to try their ice cream. It's just as well made as their breads. No garbage ingredients, just good quality fruits, cream, and just enough sugar. Everything either sourced locally or from France. The smiling employee during our visit has clearly spent time in France, or maybe her mom is French? Who knows? But she speaks French with a very good accent. She was also quite helpful and informative. With temps in the 90s today, ice cream was a nice treat. Music from the movie Amelie played as we sat at outside tables and wicker chairs you'd find in any cafe in Provence. Go support a locally owned (by truly lovely people) delectable little bakery and ice cream shop. Goguette is a wonderful treat!

Phil M.

Yelp
Great bread! Lots of choices, some change daily. They don't open until 1:30 so non-morning people like me have a chance. You can preorder and read the descriptions online. I love this place.

Rocky S.

Yelp
they had a French woman at least a year ago working there. Rude-arrogant I promised myself I would never go back. I wanted to taste the cookie before I bought them. The owner promised me 5 cookies but only offered one to lessen the negative feeling I had about their business.
google avatar

Yelp
What I liked best was how the owner came out to greet the line just before opening to enthusiastically tell us what was special that day. My first time at Goguette, I was very happy with the cinnamon roll, cheese bread and olive bread. I will be back, the next time I'm through Santa Rosa.

Yelp
I was finally able to visit this bakery! I'm always in town during the holidays and they have limited days open during Christmas and Thanksgiving weeks. This time they had one afternoon open and my mom and I stopped by a little after 1pm. The line was very long, but my mom had placed her order in advance, to make sure they had her breads. As we waited in line, an employee came out and gave samples of their chocolate hazelnut orange bread. I jokingly asked if any would even be available when we reached the shop, and though she couldn't guarantee it, she did say they were baking all day that day, constantly. The chocolate hazelnut orange loaf was a very large loaf and also $48 so that probably contributed to there being a few loaves left when we got into the shop proper. While the employees tried to find an order for the man in front of us, double and triple checking his name, the proprietor came up to us and greeted my mom by name enthusiastically. Apparently my folks buy a lot of bread here! lol! Anyway, we got one of the fancy chocolate loafs, plus a couple of seeded loafs, a walnut loaf and a couple of more plain loafs. The plainer ones went into the Thanksgiving stuffing to make it extra special. Very cute shop, easy to find and easy parking, but very popular and limited hours/days so plan ahead. Amazingly delicious bread. So glad I finally got to come inside and meet the owner and staff. Everyone was cheerful even through the holiday crush!

Yelp
God I love great bread! This isn't a big patisserie place but instead awesome authentic tasty French bread place. Located in a huge parking place super conveniently located near a lot of clinics and hospitals, I come here often. Moderate prices, authentic folks, super customer centric!
google avatar

Kayla M.

Yelp
Oh my goodness, who can resist great French bread and delectable ice cream? This place is such a hidden gem that I've just recently discovered. They have a wonderful selection of artisan bread, very French vibe and love the background music and friendly staff. Try the Rose ice cream, I'm in love. Actually try them all, you can't really go wrong. I'd like to eat the whole bowl.
google avatar

Yelp
I am very fortunate to live a short bicycle ride from this delightful establishment. Consequently, I have had the pleasure of eating most of their many offerings. Before I get to that, the first thing I have noticed every single time that I have been there is that everyone is friendly and professional. The owners are always there and they are the type of people that you want to invite to dinner! Charming and friendly and welcoming. You can taste the love and care that goes into their breads.(and ice cream!) Among my favorites are the olive loaf, pain aux fromage and the simple yet delicious baguette. Of the ice creams I have only tried the vanilla and the pistachio and they weee both fabulous. Do yourself a favor and try them out!

Yelp
this cute little bread shop has so much love warmth and charm all packed in one. the people working here clearly have a love and passion for what they do. and the bread is so warm and fresh is to die for. Definitely worth the wait for the best bread in Rosa!
google avatar

Yelp
Great sourdough bread. Its all I've tried, but its super tasty. Friendly prompt service. Bread sells out so get there early
google avatar

Yelp
Wow, what a beautiful bakery! Almost like I was walking into a French bakery in France! They don't open until 1:30 PM and there's a line waiting for them to open the doors. When you walk in, there's a beautiful selection of the freshly baked breads, specialty loaves, and desserts. Exceptionally pleasing to the eye, and the delightful smell of fresh baked goods. Everything I tried, was very delicious. Not the most economical, but I would have to say you get what you pay for. So if you can afford this luxury, I would say it's worth it!
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
There's a line out the door before they open?! I was not aware. I waited in my car when the line was forming. Well now I know, and so do you. Such a lovely place to get loaves of bread, ice cream and pastries. They are so French in there and they are so good at pronouncing everything so beautifully. I was going to take more pictures, but I was too busy figuring out what I was going to get. The line went so quick so don't be intimidated. As we entered they had a little sample of cheesy bread. I love it!! So happy I finally tried it. I bought a sourdough loaf, and a Marie Antoinette chocolate pastry. It was delicious and oh so fresh. I made an open grilled cheese with some wagon wheel bread, and tomato bisque soup and this was just the bread I needed! My new favorite bakery for sure!
google avatar

Joyce S.

Yelp
The bread we had here was pretty amazing. Beautiful clean bakery! Was here for a weekend vacation and saw that this bakery was opened late. We ventured in and were pleasantly greeted. We picked the olive fougasse bread and really enjoyed our find! It was very fresh and we enjoyed the flavor and chewy texture! Loved it and hope to try other breads and pastries if we are ever in town on another occasion.

Yelp
This place was recommended by a fellow bread lover and it did not disappoint. I saw there was an online ordering option so I did that ahead of time in case they sell out. Arrived at around 4pm with barely anyone in line. The space is bright and cute, and available breads were well displayed. They had a huge rack of online orders set aside so pick up was quick and easy. [Ordered online, ahead of time] Pain à l'ail - Garlic bread with lemon zest ($7.50) This was DELICIOUS. Crusty outside, soft bread inside. You can taste the lemon zest and when you I found a entire GARLIC CLOVE inside, it's perfectly sweet, caramelized, perfectly soft. I almost wish there were more garlic nuggets. That said: it's a small loaf for a high price but I'm glad I tried it. [Ordered in person] Zinzinriz Chocolat candied orange & orange zest ($3.75 for tiny loaf) While there in person, they had quite a few types of bread available and I couldn't resist trying this chocolate bread. It's a rice flour bread (I can't tell): very chocolatey, not too sweet, with bursts of melted chocolate. Nice, soft but chewy texture. Candied oranges were subtle but a nice touch. Overall would recommend and would come back to try other varieties.

Yelp
Come as soon as possible! You won't regret it! As a matter of fact, you will dream of this food...
google avatar

Fiona R.

Yelp
I adore everything about this place! I've been gluten free for over 10 years and am beyond happy to share that I CAN now eat their breads and pastries with zero reactions or side effects! In fact, my gut and body loves them. I was shocked, I wanted to do a test to see how my body reacted and Goguette won. It's so incredibly satisfying to eat breads again without side effects. I won't go back to gluten free breads anymore. I love the atmosphere and the employees. It always brings a smile to my face. I have several clients who are also gluten-free who have told me that they can eat their breads without reactions. I've also heard that people with diabetes can enjoy their breads because the levain doesn't spike blood sugar levels. This is incredible! When you read about the ingredients that they use and the levain (on their website) you will understand the science behind this miracle. This place is a gem! My favorites so far are: The orange and chocolate bread, fig brioche pastry and the olive bread. I slice and freeze my bread so it lasts for the whole week. Worth every dollar! I enjoy it and go back for seconds.

Yelp
Bread Heaven!!! If you've never been, I recommend closing your eyes for just a moment and entering Goguette with your nose first! The aromas of freshly baked bread beauties flooded me with memories of France and had me dreaming of my next visit. I, and everyone else that walked in, received a warm and welcoming "Bonjour!" greeting from the French owner. I've heard that when the store opens in the morning, there's always a line out the door. I thankfully went at an off-peak time so didn't battle a line, but probably didn't see their full display of breads. Still, there was plenty to choose from, and plenty still being prepped and baked by the team in the back area. I wanted one of everything but practiced restraint and chose an olive loaf. My other half later exclaimed that this was the BEST Olive bread he's ever eaten! It had the perfect crusty exterior with a dense and moist interior, and of course a healthy balance of olives. Two of us polished off the loaf in two days! Goguette recently expanded their beautiful space and is now serving glacé during the summer months. You can enjoy your treats there at a few indoor or outdoor bistro tables. If you live in Sonoma County, do not miss this spot for all your bread needs and dreams! Located in the same building/parking lot as Rosso Pizzeria and Zoftig Eatery, Goguette is hidden in plain sight. It doesn't have a building sign. It doesn't need one!
google avatar

Magaly J.

Yelp
Are you a bread lover? Then take my review as a sign to try Goguette Bread :D TIP: Their hours are limited and each day brings a different variety of bread: https://goguettebread.square.site/ So we had just biked around Howarth Park and Lake Ralphine, and decided to buy some bread before we headed to the wedding we were invited to (I know, probably not the best plan to load up on bread before a wedding, but man, their hours were tough to coordinate a visit). This is what I ordered on a beautiful, warm Saturday afternoon (and I approve of it all): $14.75 Chocolate & Orange - AKA Zinzinriz Chocolat Zeste d'Orange & Candied Oranges ***it's like jaffa cakes bread-sonified ;D $1.75 Bread Roll with Sesame- AKA Petit Pain ***delicious $3.25 Petit Ecolier ***delicious The community who lives in Santa Rosa is lucky to have this bakery so accessible! #ValleyGirlEats

Yelp
I am so happy to see how so many more people are enjoying breads and differenent goodies from Goguette! the only complaint I have is the distance from my home! I went back to Goguette yesterday first time since Covid and ordered their lemon candid and chocolate bread -baked with rice flour. I can't stop slicing it for more bites. It is like chocolate brownie but better-healtjhy version and unique chewey lemon bite. It is truly a deletable in my mouth. It was so good to see how their bread is being appreciated by so many. I also tried their ice cream- passion fruit flavor was what I had. The flavor could be a little more intense but this is my personal preference since i love intense passion fruit flavor. I can't wait to go back up to Santa Rosa for Goguette!
google avatar

Gary J.

Yelp
Okay; they are a total French experience right down to staff having perfect accents. The chocolate & butterscotch brioche are done very well if you get them early when still hot from the oven. Then there is the ice-cream -- oh LaLa Atmosphere Bread Pastry Ice-cream This place ads to the pleasure of life
google avatar

Annette A.

Yelp
OK, Sonoma County, here we go, another review. I happen to pass by this establishment. On my way home. And I can never not stop at a bread store. I have an addiction to carbs. As I walked in, this beautiful little establishment was very welcoming. Cashiers are very knowledgeable about homemade bread; everything was made the same day. They even let us have some taste testers. The atmosphere was fantastic. The smell of pastries overwhelmed your senses. Would I recommend this place? Yes, absolutely! Thank you for stopping and placing your establishment here in Sonoma County. You did Sonoma County proud, and I highly recommend people check out this little bread store.

Korva G.

Yelp
So I've been coming here for a little over five years now and I cannot believe it's been that long. Well, a few days ago their long awaited expansion opened! Could things possibly get any better? Mais oui!!!!! It's a gorgeous space, floor to ceiling and the expansive displays of their daily creations are exquisite. Be warned- you will leave with a lot more than you planned on... and it's worth it. There is also something being offered at the end of the counter to bring joy to kid, adults and everyone in between: frozen custard! You heard right- the most amazing frozen "ice cream" you'll ever have here in SR. The pistachio is the best I've ever ever had. My only disappointment was driving away with a small pistachio instead of a quadruple scoop----you laugh now , but you'll see

Yelp
Absolutely amazing pastries. Service is excellent, great little bakery. Not cheap but its 100% worth it

Devon F.

Yelp
The atmosphere was awesome and I love how they play the French music outside as well. Made me feel like I was on a mini trip to France !
google avatar

Julie M.

Yelp
From the moment you walk up to be welcomed by the sweetest French accent to the moment you endure the first bite the experience is worth it. The menu is written down on a chalkboard and all employees are wearing masks from what you can see from the doorway. The sweetest lady helps with any questions you have. There may be a line as you walk up to the entrance which shows how locals don't mind waiting for a little piece for of bread heaven. I purchased a medium baguette for dinner. The outside was crispy while the inside was soft. It wasn't doughy. I wish I had a nice buttery Brie to pair with it. Next time as I now know how good it tastes. I definitely will he back but I will order via online in advance as they tend to sell out quickly.

Yelp
We ran into Goguette Bread as a booth at the French Winter's Market in downtown Santa Rosa. They were busy and long lines. They ran out of food quickly, even though the owner kept on coming back to restock. We decided to go directly to the source to get more of what we wanted. The store is located in a strip mall. The outside looks like any other store. But once you enter the doors, you are taken into a small French bakery with all the smells and the items on display. The staff was friendly, cordial, and helpful!
google avatar

Olembe N.

Yelp
The ambience reminded me of when I traveled to Paris to visit famille, on my own , at 15 years of age. Quite a few of the employees (not sure how many) speak some francais and were very nice. It's located near the memorial hospital area and zoftig eatery. I tried a few of Goguette's savory and sweet breads which were good but my favorite is when they have their matcha french ice cream. It's rich in flavor...
google avatar

Pam M.

Yelp
The small breaker always has a long line outside the door when it first opens. They have some wonderful, looking breads, and some sweet treats. I'm not sure how to pronounce a lot of them because it is French bakery. I got a cinnamon roll. That is delicious and I got I'm not sure what it's called but it was slightly sweet and very airy and light. Although it is quite pricey, it is well worth it. They change their breads up frequently. I would like to go back and try some more of their breads. They had some sandwiches there. That sounded great. I definitely will be going back.

Yelp
Goguette is such a wonderful family owned and operated French Boulangerie. Their breads and pastries are first rate and the service is stellar. Love their Chocolate Zin Zin Riz! Such an incredible addition to the community.

Yelp
This place is Amazing! It's a piece of Heaven! This family are true talented artists! So much Love with everything they create

Yelp
So this was already a successful bakery with a loyal customer base, but the recent addition of French custard, a French style ice cream, they may have outdone themselves. Comparable to a gelato, the closest thing I can think of, it's sure to satisfy most discriminating taste buds. Served in a regular biodegradable bowl, or house made waffle cone or bowl, it is sold by weight. I chose the French Caramel with caramel sauce on a cone. The cream and cone were a perfect marriage of flavor and texture. Im going to say this as well, this is an adult treat in relation to the price. My cone was $8. I would not be inclined to take a heard of kids there, would be a small fortune. However you can purchase it in a container and take it home. I just feel this is more appropriate for an adult palette. The friendly and authentic members of the staff compliment the experience as well as the European design aesthetic. What better way to celebrate Bastille Day tomorrow then with a visit!

Pat K.

Yelp
Excellent food, service and ambience. Delicious bread and cookies. One of my favorite places to visit.

Yelp
Oui, s'il vous plaît!! Oh my word, could this bakery be any more French? There was a line when I arrived but went quick. I was in line for about 4 minutes before it was my turn. I was greeted with a warm "Bonjour" (each customer that walked up to the door were welcomed by a warm greeting, even if there was plenty of customers). There were not many baked goods left to choose from when we got there at 3:45p. I guess they stop baking at a certain time and try to sell whatever's left until closing time at 6:00p. If that is the case it's best to place your order online instead of risking running out for walk-in orders. Lucky for me, though, there were still bread with chocolate and I got the last chocolate brioche (formally called Régale de Chocolat). It was love at first bite! Its deep flavor and suave texture was a delight to my sweet palate. Yummy!! Now that I had my first taste of a Goguette Bread I want to come back! The oil based Brioche dough (egg and butter free) was filled with organic dark chocolate... c'est délicieux!! One of my bookmarked places to visit in Santa Rosa. They are only open 4 days a week Wed - Sat, 1:30-6pm. Merci! Review #2175

Yelp
If Yelp scores were based solely upon friendliness of the staff and customer service experience then Goguette would be off the charts. They are clearly a local favorite as evidenced by the line that starts to for about 30 minutes before opening. At 1:30, a friendly and charismatic staff member was out front detailing the specials for the day and welcoming the patrons. Samples were passed around and I slowly made my way up to the desk to pick up my online order. The items were packed nicely and presented in traditional rustic French fashion. The green olive fougasse was a big favorite. The bread and baguette were good with a thick, dense crust but the interior seemed a bit dry. I would like to return and try some other items.

Yelp
Lines don't lie. The mere notion of people lining up for something - in the U.S. - is, I've frequently found, evidence that something good awaits. It's true at Cafe du Monde in New Orlean's French Quarter. It's true at Off the Hook Poke Market in Oahu's Manoa neighborhood. And it's true in a strip mall in Santa Rosa, home of Goguette Bread, a place that's flying under the radar of anyone not Santa Rosa-based and in the know. I was sitting in the parking lot, in my car, having just enjoyed lunch nearby when I looked up to notice that a queue of people had formed in front of me. It was a bit past 1 p.m. and signage on the nondescript storefront where they were lining up announced that Goguette Bread opened at 1:30 p.m. I'm no fool. I got in line. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G Operating out of their doorway in a nod to Covid, a chalkboard menu hangs beside that door. Step up and you're greeted by a charming woman who sports a striped shirt and a matching striped face mask. Over her shoulders I can see the bakers, also wearing their French-inspired garb. I am greeted with the most welcome "Bon Jour!", the likes of which I never received in Paris. There is certainly a smile beneath that mask and beneath mine too. This feels like the welcome I've wanted from every place I've visited in the past 2 years. A chalkboard menu beside the door lists today's offerings and I choose a loaf of Olive Bread and a loaf of Cheese Bread. I ask if these are good choices and am told, again in the most charming way, that indeed, these are their specials and what they are known for. I also read that they're known for their chocolate bread but that will have to wait for visit number two. Two still-warm loaves of some of the most delicious bread I've ever tasted ran $18.50 and that was some of the best use of a $20-bill I've ever made. The Cheese Bread almost didn't make it to my home as I literally could not stop consuming it while driving. Others in my household agreed: This bread is fabulous. Three of us had bread for dinner and three of us went to bed very happy. A trip to Santa Rosa should be in your immediate future.
