Gohan Review - Lower East Side - New York - The Infatuation

"We don’t know a lot of professional poets, but if we did, we would take them to dinner at Gohan. We also don’t know Jared Leto, but that’s another person we’d take to this little Lower East Japanese restaurant. Does anyone know some cool artists who lived in Soho in the 80s? Please extend our invitation to them to eat dinner at Gohan. If our imaginary Gohan dinner party hasn’t painted the picture, we’ll explain it in more concrete terms: this is a peaceful, low-key place serving Japanese food that’s inspired by home cooking. This restaurant is right around the corner from lots of new-ish, hyped-up restaurants like Kiki’s, Mission Chinese, Cervo’s, and Dimes, but it’s kind of the quiet kid in the neighborhood. In terms of food, it’s kind of the quiet kid too: nothing is overly spicy, or overly salty, or overly anything really. While you can eat a few fried things or some noodles, there’s plenty of tofu and sashimi, as well as a general feeling of healthiness permeating the air. It’s not healthiness in the extreme, but you won’t leave here with acid reflux and a sense of existential dread. As you might have guessed by now, it’s a good place to bring a vegetarian. It’s also a good place to bring a friend for a casual weeknight dinner, or an easy meal with someone you’ve been dating for long enough that going out for a meal isn’t a whole thing anymore. Of course, it’d also be a good place to bring Jared Leto, just as soon as he responds to that DM. Food Rundown Fatty Salmon Sashimi This is basically salmon toro, topped with salmon roe. It’s the best thing at this restaurant. Soba Noodle Soup If you’re here on a cold day, this is worth a try. It’s soothing, if not the most flavorful. Zuke Tuna Roll A simple tuna and avocado roll. It’s a kind of rustic, almost amateurish sushi roll, but in a comforting way. Does that make any sense? It’s a totally edible sushi roll. Set Plate With Sides The cornerstone of the menu is the set plate section, where you pick a protein and a few sides, and you get some soup and rice as well. We like the salmon and the steak." - Hillary Reinsberg

I visited Gohan Buffet in Duluth yesterday around 2:30 PM for lunch, and unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy my experience as much as I hoped to. I came in with average expectations—especially since my best friend had good things to say about their lunch menu—but I left feeling pretty underwhelmed. To be fair, the building itself is beautiful. The space is clean, modern, and definitely gives off a high-end vibe. That part impressed me. But when it came to the food, things fell flat. We tried a bit of everything, and honestly, the only dishes we actually enjoyed were the sautéed mushrooms, fried octopus, spicy crawfish, and the red bean mochi. Everything else felt just… meh. Even the warm food was lukewarm—not hot, not cold—just in that awkward in-between. One cool perk was the unlimited bottled drinks, which I appreciated. The bottled teas were delicious and refreshing. However, I wouldn’t recommend the teas they mix themselves. The Thai tea tasted like Pepto-Bismol, and the matcha one tasted like plain milk—no real flavor or balance. Service-wise, the experience was mixed. Our main server wasn’t very attentive throughout the meal, but became noticeably more present once it was time to pay the bill. On the flip side, the guys who went around clearing plates were fantastic—super attentive and quick, which we appreciated. Overall, while the space looks great, the food and overall experience didn’t live up to the hype. I genuinely wanted to like it, but I left feeling disappointed… and honestly a little nauseous. I probably won’t be back, especially with so many other great buffet options nearby.

We did go on a Sunday afternoon, so I understood that there was gonna be a wait time. I just wish they had like a speaker or something to announce your number. When we got seated the waiter did explain to us what to do because this was our first time. I went to the sausage area when they cut it, They seemed a little stingy, when cutting it, and also with the steak, it was more fat than actual steak. They did have a good variety and selection of seafood. The salad bar to me didn’t seem too fresh. Just because of the way the cheese looked. I love a good dessert, but you would have to read these little menus to see what it was. So I did not like that. Also, the waiter that we had. I kept asking for water, but it seemed like they were intentionally ignoring me, so I didn’t like that. One of the hostess ended up giving me water. Then the nerve of our waiter to clap for her because she got me water. That’s how I understood it. I just found that very disrespectful. So I will not be here again. Also read the price before you go in. We went in the dinner time so it was 42.95.

If you are a seafood lover, this buffet does not disappoint! While it is the most expensive, to me, it is worth the price. The staff was amazing, especially my waitress Jeanette. My favorite dish was the cold and hot mussels, but the cold dish took the prize. The crab legs were also delicious and were a close second. I also loved the Honey Pomelo drink and when I left, I was looking for a case of it on Amazon with no luck. This is a very upscale buffet and perfect for any occasion. I can’t wait to go back for the seafood. I am not recommending any of the other dishes other than the seafood because I wasn’t a fan. Luckily, their seafood options overshadowed their other dishes so it was a Win either way. Specific Items I disliked: Coconut Shrimp ❌ Fried Rice❌ Crab Rangoon❌ Lobster (was in a sauce and very mushy) ❌ Again, I would still go back based on the other seafood dishes I tried because they were top tier 👌🏾

Currently here celebrating Mother’s Day, and this buffet is incredible and so beautifully designed. The food is fresh, flavorful, and perfectly presented. From the seafood to the carving station to the endless desserts, everything has been top-tier and so easy to find. The service is warm and attentive, our server Ramses was on top of everything and made us feel so welcomed. I also met the owner Jimmy and he was just wonderful. The atmosphere feels festive yet elegant. Such a perfect way to treat all the moms, highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!

🅿️ plenty of parking 🍽️ Lunch: $25.95 end at 3:30pm Weekdays only 🍽️ Dinner: $39.95 weekdays, weekends $42.95 🦀 Amazing huge seafood selection and great quality. My difficult stomach approved, so I’ll come back again. LOL 🧋Love all 3 flavors, but prefer the peach one with popping bubble. 🥘 Flavor? 3/5 for some Chinese dishes. 🍣 I don’t recommend bc of low quality. 🥟 Dim Sum is okay, not bad or gross. Overall: 4/5 because of the beautiful huge clean ambiance, the service was impeccable, and great quality seafood. Not a 5 star because the lack of flavor, I think this should improve. Tip: Come early, don’t go last mins before closing time. They will ran out of food. Did not see any lobster, we went at 4pm on a weekday. Gohan Buffet is a solid 4-star spot with a clean and spacious environment that’s perfect for groups or family dining. The service is consistently friendly and attentive, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. While the food is just okay overall, I do love the variety they offer — especially the crab legs, seafood boil, dim sum, sushi, and even boba tea, which is a fun bonus. It’s a great place if you’re craving a little bit of everything and want to leave full and satisfied. My difficult stomach approved of their quality.

Went today (Saturday) sometime after 5pm before 6, and only a couple of parties were ahead of us so the wait was not long. By the time we finished eating, the lobby was packed. Got to our table, it was wiped but not thoroughly cleaned as there was still a layer of sticky sauce on one corner of the table. The seats had hella crumbs on them, so we used a napkin to wipe it up ourselves. (Edited to add: According to my husband since he was the one to wipe them up, the seats were not just crumbs, they were actually sticky.) We didn't receive any table service really (besides them taking our plates) while the table next to us was visited like 4 times. 🤔 I think we were supposed to be asked what drinks we wanted (we could see other tables all had iced water or soft drinks) but we were never asked. Didn't bother asking for water since there were drinks from the buffet. I enjoyed the thai tea (with crystal boba I think?). (Edited to add: According to my more observant husband, the table wasn't even set for us so he just stole the utensil sets from the next table.) I sampled a bunch of stuff from the buffet. Honestly it was all mid or not very good, I feel like I've had better at cheaper buffets. The stir-fried noodles had like no flavor. The crab rangoon was disappointing. The green beans were good (acceptable) but in a normal/average way, as in, I should expect them to taste fine and they did but they weren't amazing or anything. The peking duck buns were disappointing, although maybe it's because my duck was mostly fat and tasteless. The fried breaded chicken wings were not bad, very crispy, but obviously I'm not going to an Asian buffet to eat fried chicken wings. The star of the show was definitely the crab legs. I enjoy crab legs, so I was looking forward to them and they were meaty and easy to remove from the shell. They were good and I was full after about 2 clusters so I don't think I ate enough to make it worth $40+ ($50+ with tax & tips), and my husband doesn't like crab legs enough so he didn't even eat any. The restaurant is very flashy and mostly appealing in terms of design, but there are some really weird and random choices of decor, specifically the giant silver spinning top thing(?) in the lobby (it's ugly... should have done a fountain or something), a random austronaut holding a ball/globe(?), and some large cylindrical vases filled with colorful plastic balls (ah yes, very aesthetic...) I was initially gonna give it a 4, because I did enjoy the crab legs, and the large banner said it's still in soft opening, but someone informed me that it's been months since the soft opening and they just haven't taken down the sign yet. After considering everything, I think 3/5 is fair, since everything was mid except the crab legs and those aren't worth $50 alone. I do want this place to succeed, so I hope they improve their food's taste and quality to make it actually worth the price. Right now, it's just a flashy restaurant with mediocre food; you can get better tasting food at cheaper buffets and probably find crab legs elsewhere too. If you haven't been, it's probably worth trying at least once to form your own opinion, but this is my experience and I don't think I will go back unless they significantly improve.

Updated Review They've recently started serving lunch, but I visited around 3:20 PM for dinner, which officially starts at 3:30. I paid the dinner price and waited about 20 minutes, but the dinner menu hadn’t changed from lunch. Earlier that day, I called and was told dinner would include lobsters, which raised my expectations—only to find none when I arrived. I asked the server, the cook, and even went up front, but no one knew anything. I was eventually told that the menu is "up to the kitchen," which felt misleading at best. To make matters worse, the overall food quality has noticeably declined. Peking ducks were served frozen cold. The server was also very rude. We dined for about two hours, and they refused to refill our soda. At the end, they only filled half a cup. Very disappointed—this will be my last visit. Previously I visited on a Saturday around 3:30 PM, as Google Maps listed it as the opening time. However, when I arrived at 3 PM, I was placed on a waitlist for about 20 minutes because they had unexpectedly changed their opening policy to noon. The restaurant offers a wide selection of sashimi and sushi, but the variety in other areas is lacking—there was only one type of salad and just a couple of dessert options. It was extremely crowded, and food refills were slow. Popular items like ox knees, lobsters, and dumplings ran out quickly. While I managed to get some on my first plate, they were replaced with cheaper alternatives when I returned. When I asked, the cook simply said they had no more, which makes me question why they continue accepting customers when key ingredients are unavailable—especially considering the weekend dinner price is over $42, yet there was no lobster. On top of that, they ran out of Pepsi and Diet Pepsi, and the bubble teas were missing the tapioca pearls, even though they had them on my previous visit. On the positive side, the servers were quick and attentive. However, the restroom situation was frustrating—there were only five or six stalls, and at least 10 people were waiting in line outside. Overall, the experience was disappointing due to the lack of food availability, long waits, and poor restroom capacity.

Update from previous 5stars Today was my second visit. Both the service and quality have noticeably declined from my first visit. When I first arrived there was a short wait to be seated. This was very reasonable seeing that the restaurant was petty full. I do have to call out that the pepper steak, the stir fry chicken and the stir fry beef was chewy. The spicy chicken had bones in it and I needed to wave down a waiter for water. This is the opposite of my first visit where everything I tried was great. This visit the sliced steak was better than the first visit (both times were good).

Yelp
*Ambiance? Absolutely stunning. * Food (per my very happy family)? Phenomenal. * Allergy safety? Needs attention. Walking into Gohan Buffet during the day felt like stepping into another city. The ambiance had that lively vibe you usually find in destination cities where everything is designed to impress. I was genuinely excited to try the buffet, the spread looked incredible. But as someone with a shellfish allergy, I quickly noticed guests were using the same utensils across different dishes, causing cross-contamination. Because of that, I had to sit this one out. Still, my family got to enjoy the full experience, and they were impressed. They couldn't stop talking about how fresh and delicious everything was. They'd come back for the coconut shrimp, catfish, crab legs & ribs. My one piece of feedback to the staff would be to keep a closer eye on the serving stations. Maybe swap utensils more often or post reminders to help prevent cross-contamination. It would make a big difference for guests with food sensitivities.

Yelp
I will start by saying, unpopular opinion, but it is 100% worth the price. I'm a bit confused by the negative reviews Gohan gets. Monday-Friday dinner is $40 per person. Saturday and Sunday $43 per person all day. That's right- even on Friday, it's still $40 instead of the weekend pricing! For this price point, what is there to complain about? You can't beat it for an AYCE seafood buffet. Is it the best seafood or even food in general? Of course not. It's a buffet. And not only that, it's an AYCE seafood buffet for ONLY $40 or $43. What else can you expect for that price?! That's about the equivalent of going to KBBQ these days. To think I can spend that much and get AYCE seafood, buffet food, AND boba?! I'm already impressed regardless of the food quality. I think people need to consider the price of Gohan before setting expectations. Now aside from that unpopular opinion, I have been to Gohan twice and I enjoyed the experience both times. I must be getting lucky, but I never had to wait in line or for a table at all both visits. Once was a weekday and once was a weekend. For my first visit I tried more of a variety of foods just so I could get an accurate idea of the quality of their food. For the most part, it is comparable to most buffet food in terms of the hot dishes, fried foods, desserts, fruits, and drinks. The boba is nowhere near comparable to boba from a boba store. I'd rather drink it than water or soda while I'm enjoying my buffet, but I can't say I would ever pay for that quality boba if it weren't included with my meal. I do like that they also include different flavors of tea bottles as well. I tried a jasmine honey flavored tea and a green tea. I definitely enjoyed the jasmine honey flavored tea and would probably stick with drinking that for future visits. As for foods that stood out... do NOT get the steak. It is SO dry. That was the only food I was actually disappointed with. Both visits, just by looking at it, I could tell it was dry. Both visits, it did disappoint. I absolutely loved the lamb chops both times. Very juicy and seasoned well. The sushi has more variety than other buffets, but it's just okay. Nothing impressive. I'd rather eat sushi here than at another buffet though. Probably a slight tier up from regular buffet sushi. Nigiri and sashimi is where it's at though. Both are offered during dinner and they have a variety of different fishes. These are probably what I ate the most of. Are they the best quality? No. But good enough that I'd keep coming back for them? Absolutely. Crawfish has good seasoning and are decent sized, but they are dry. Crab legs and lobsters is where the money is at. These are not self served. You have to ask the servers for them, however, they are not stingy and will fill your plate up. I enjoyed these very much and came back for 3 rounds of them. I'm also very impressed with the oysters. You can get them raw or grilled. Both options are good. I ate 3 plates worth of oysters. I do not like the hot sauce they had set out for the oysters though. Try it before you put it on all your oysters because it definitely ruined the oysters for me. Other things they have that I did not eat are a pho station, soup station, and dim sum station. My parents had the pho, and they were pleased with it. That should mean something because my parents are picky Vietnamese eaters. My sister had the dim sum and said its a bit on the drier side and recommended that I didn't waste my stomach space on it. My husband ate some of the soups and enjoyed them. Lastly, we have desserts. They have several different cakes: crepe cakes, cheesecakes, and regular cakes. They have several different ice creams. I already mentioned they have boba- probably at least 4 different flavors. You'll definitely find a dessert you like here. So as I said, 100% worth it. Don't let the negative reviews deter you. Try it at least once because for $40, why not? I would bring out of town guests here for sure. If my parents ever want to enjoy a meal out, this will likely be my default restaurant to take them as well. Also, service is good. They come and remove your trash and dirty plates nearly immediately. They're also quick to refill your soda if you ask. All this being said, I had a tough time deciding between a 4 vs 5 star review. It could go either way for me honestly because I do enjoy going here. But, I opted for 4 star because I wouldn't necessary brag about the food being amazing. I just think the food is perfect for the pricing and that I'm definitely getting my money's worth and getting to eat a bunch of food that I otherwise wouldn't normally get to eat for that price.

Yelp
It is worth the money IMO Lots of seafood and great dishes. Reminder me of Las Vegas buffets. Couldn't try everything bc there was just so much food. They don't do senior discounts. Not sure about veteran discounts. It did kinda lack in the salad department but I don't eat too much of that in these places so it doesn't bother me. The food is stocked well so there's not a lot of waiting. The workers were nice and alert. Drinks are included in the price and if you ask them for the soft drinks they will get it for you. However, they are Pepsi not Coke products. IG: @mukbang.shin

Yelp
I met a few friends here for lunch. It was pretty busy even after 1pm on a week day. The parking lot is large but filled with cars. The restaurant is huge! It even has vip area with its own bathrooms if you have a large party. There is a counter right when you walk in but no one greeted me. I had to walk up to them and ask for a table. A server walked right up to us when we sat and asked if we wanted drinks. They do have a drink station with prepared drinks but we also asked for a pot of hot tea. You can also order sodas. The buffet is large and full of variety. There's different stations but I felt overcrowded anywhere I went. I tried some seafood, sushi, pho, dim sum and toasted beef. Many food had wrong labels. The hot food were lukewarm. The fruits were room temp and not ripe. I would stick to sushi, dim sum and their pho station. Overall, a good try. But I will not return due to the mediocre food quality and the amount of people swarming around the buffet.

Yelp
Make sure you come with an empty stomach! It was our first time going and it was definitely an experience! We went on a Sunday and thankfully there was no wait. Atmosphere: It gave a very classy feel. The spaces were very clean and organized. Typically, food areas would be kind of messy but here at Gohan, they made sure to tidy up! Food: There was sooooo much food! Definitely make sure to go on an empty stomach. There was a lot of seafood, fried items, and many other things. They have a pho station which is so nice! Something I haven't seen before was the drink section at the dessert area. Great inclusion outside of soda and water. They do charge, however, so check the price before grabbing. Service: Upon coming in, they recognize you from the jump which is very attentive. Our server was very nice and attentive. Whenever we had questions or needed anything, they were there. Overall, 10/10. It is pricey for a buffet but it's understandable with the variety of food available and atmosphere. Definitely worth a try!

Yelp
First attempt was a failure. Went on a Saturday night with a party of (15+). Waited over 2 hours (understandable since it is a ticket for first come first served). Asked when we'll be seated after 2 hours since it was close to their closing time (1.5 hrs before they closed) and they said they were working on getting us a table ready. After 30 minutes of waiting asked again and got the same reply. As we walked out they finally said they had a table ready for us when in fact they could have asked if we wanted to be seated together or separately, when we asked but they didn't even bother to offer. So if you have a big group I would recommend you going early. *Second time on a Saturday morning, this time went with a group of 7. Went right when they opened. Was able to get seated right away. Had an ok selection of food but wasn't what I really expected for that price $42.95. There are better buffets for that price.

Yelp
Go hungry! For lunch, I thought it was worth visiting if you're super hungry and ready to stuff your belly for $25. Overall, food quality was decent like sushi/sashimi, anything shrimp, pho, boiled fish, and fried chicken! Boiled fish is definitely one of the house favorites as it was always gone. Also, they have various desserts and we really enjoyed the coconut drink! As far as service, we had a great experience! Our server saw the bday bag that we had brought for our friends and brought out the staff with piece of cake/candle to sing bday song for us. That was super sweet without even asking! What I really wanted was the crab legs but they do not have that available for lunch. Their "all day dinner" is confusing as it is only available for weekends and I would just update to "weekend pricing" as i thought i was able to have dinner anytime as long as I paid for the upcharge.

Yelp
This place was huge and so many food items. Had my birthday dinner here= 7 people. The wait for a walkin table was only 10 minutes. The service was top notch...attentive, friendly, funny and anticipated our needs before being asked. The food overall was delicious and fresh. Would love to see a vegan pho broth option and the lobster tail was a bit messy to eat but besides that no other real complaints.

Yelp
For 2 adults, it was $104 with tip (20%) & tax We had a good time so it was worth it for us with our baby. Not sure if they have high chairs as we bring our own but the tables are flat if you also use an Inglesina They have a ton of variety! We didn't get to even taste everything because we had zero room Your price includes drinks & buffet & ice cream bar/desserts Buffet has different sections like sichuan, sushi, salad, pho/soba section(made to order), hibachi, steak, seafood inc crab, desserts, soup, apps, dim sum and more Some highlights for me: Sichuan chicken Sauteed fish Fried flounder Snow crab Sushi / sashimi was very solid for a buffet Soups (all that I tasted were good!) Frog legs Clams Braised pork belly Matcha crepe cake Softshell crab Honey shrimp Items we didn't like: Sea snail (Sandy imo) Sauteed/seasoned crabs were overcooked Steak was dry, overcooked Dumpling (soup dumpling looking one) dry, too much dough Beef on the hibachi side Salt/pepper shrimp was overcooked We didn't get to try the dim sum or the pho or the apps/salads There's something for everyone here The dessert selection was decent.. you're not coming for dessert but they've got a variety to choose from. Mochi, castella cake, crepe cake, flavored whipped cream/mousse, ice cream variety The drink selection was great. Some flavored teas (powder mixes I think) and some tasted better than others. I liked the passion fruit with fruit jelly & the bottled yuzu drink I think There's a ton of parking in the shared lot and the space is huge in general There was a huge line to get in though so come early

Yelp
I honestly don't understand why this place doesn't have higher reviews! We visited Gohan Buffet on a Saturday and had to wait about 30 minutes for a table of five because it was so busy. The wait was absolutely worth it. Everything was fresh and delicious, from the sushi to the hot entrees. The pho broth was good! They charge kids based on height instead of age, which was a fair approach. The bathrooms were also very clean, which is always a plus when dining out. The ambiance was great. Modern, clean, and spacious with a nice layout that made the experience feel comfortable despite the crowd. The decor gives off a sleek, upscale buffet vibe, which adds to the overall dining experience.

Yelp
RAMISES!!!!!!! He was my server and WOW, he is absolutely amazing, he was fun, friendly, on top of our phenomenal food, his service was even better, I am so grateful for how amazing he was, he is really awesome, I would want him everytime!!! ADEN!!!! This guy is a serious team player, there was a situation with someone dining and dashing, Aden, stepped right up, literally his response to the situation was MANAGER and Franchise owner Level, this guy is a dream team player!!! Amazing guy!!! HANNAH! She stopped sweeping to answer my questions, and this lady is going places, that type of attitude makes the experience really stand out, she told me her favorite items to get and it was very friendly explaining the different areas to me. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!

Yelp
We went there and were impressed. Unlike a lot of buffets, this one is very high class. The interior is more like a hotel lobby when you enter. There is a desk where you check in and take a number. There were almost a hundred people waiting to get in but the line moved fairly quickly. The price is not cheap, (about $43 each) but I thought it was worth it because of the quality of the food. They have several categories of food including sushi, cantonese, steak, crab, and a pho bar. There's also a variety of boba drinks included, ice cream and some other desserts. Even though it's a buffet there are waiters, who are very attentive. I think ours was named Coco, also the busser Ramses was very helpful. I avoid buffets because usually it's cheap food with very dirty tables, but this one is different. Great for an occasional visit. 10/10

Yelp
I been driving past this place for over 6 months and was wondering when it would open. Well, it's finally open! I am shocked to see the low reviews here. I still had to try out for myself. This restaurant is located in the huge shopping center where the Toys R Us used to be. It's been pretty empty for awhile. There is plenty of parking. Walking in, I was amazed by the decor and fanciness of the front desk. It looked like a fancy hotel front desk vs an Asian buffet. I was amazing and in awe on the chandeliers and enormous buffet. This place reminds me of the super fancy buffets at casinos. Price for dinner on weekdays is $39.99. And boy it was worth it. I can't begin to be amazed of that was offered here. The snow crabs were huge and fresh. You had a pick of steamed or cold ones. There was fried soft shell crabs which I have never seen at a buffet before. There was a prime rib, Peking duck, and sausage bar. There also was a dim sum section. The pho bar was very nice as well. The selection was sushi rolls were amazing and enormous. I was surprised to see snail there too. To top it off, they had a boba tea and drink shelf where you grabbed whatever you wanted and it was all included in the price of the buffet. There was salad bar as well. They even had butter for you to dip your crab legs into. There was way too much food for me to all try. The highlights were the soft shell crab which was delicious. I also enjoyed the garlic oysters. They were serve with one per plate. I wish you can grab more each time as they made it hard to grab a bulk. The snow crab legs were very tasty and fresh. I loved dipping them into the butter. The seaweed mix was very good as well. The peach fruit tea was very good. They ran out super fast. Waitress service was very good and she cleared the tables super fast. If your a seafood and sushi person, your going to love it here. The quality of food here is amazing and is definitely worth the month. The people that all gave bad reviews here, they have no idea. The dining experience and decor here is definitely high class. Comparing it to nori nori, this place is a steal!! I highly recommend it. I would like to come back and see what they all have for lunch as it's only $25. I can't wait to come back again.

Yelp
OMG! If you're in a mood for seafood, you need to try Gohun AYCE in Duluth, Ga. The place is new, still says Soft Opening. This is the best time to try it. This place is huge for a buffet place. There are more sushi, sashimi, cooked and raw seafood that I've seen in a buffet place. For the price of dinner, having Dungarees Crab, lobster, raw or cooked Oyster, raw or cooked snails, crab legs, cooked crabs and different type of sashimi and sushi. And for land lover, there's stake, ribs, sausages, lamb and different vegetables and fruits. Oh, deserts and drinks including different flavors of bubble tea and drinks. It is well worth it. Again visit this place since it is new. The place is clean, servers are friendly, and the bathroom is still clean. This entire place is well worth a visit.

Yelp
After reading several mixed reviews, I decided to give it a try for myself. The moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the spacious layout and the array of unusual sculptures. Even though the restaurant is still in its soft opening phase, I was quite impressed. We visited on a Tuesday evening, and despite the bustling crowd, we were seated almost immediately without any wait. Buffets can be unpredictable what's great one day might disappoint the next but I'm glad that I came on a day when everything was on point. I sampled a bit of almost every dish, but my three favorites were the Peking duck, the sashimi salmon, and the hot snow crabs. The salmon was a remarkably fresh and distinctly different from what you'd expect at a typical buffet (and it definitely wasn't frozen). The snow crab clusters were impressively large, and the meat was surprisingly sweet. At $40, this experience is definitely worth it. I'm looking forward to coming back soon and hope they continue to maintain these high standards

Yelp
Easy parking greeted when we walked in very nice and eye catching decor we waited maybe 10 mins and were seated. This place is very spacious and clean. I paid $45 dollars which included drinks and all! They offer a huge variety of food items from seafood to sushi to dumplings it's so much food!!! Then I had a boba tea which was included with my meal and for me that is exciting! I love boba!!! Our waitress was really nice and everyone in my party was pleased. We will definitely be returning soon! Check out my vid and until next time SYOY!

Yelp
Hands down the best buffet in the United States. For only $49 per person this all you can eat buffet is unlike nothing you have ever seen in the US. From lobster and Pekin Duck to high quality sushi and snow crab. This place has it all and then some. Make sure not to miss the Chinese drinks and pho station!!! This place is seriously the best.

Yelp
New buffet and already packed full of people. While there is no fresh food (like cooked to order), their sushi was probably the best I've ever had at a buffet, and all their food was very tasty. All in all a great buffet and I'll definitely be back! They call it a soft opening so hopefully they add freshly cooked food to their wide assortment - they had so much food I'm not sure what else they would add but that!

Yelp
This place is HUGE! When you walk in the sheer space of the entrance and seating area is quite impressive. We were instantly seated at a clean, comfortable table right near all of the food. The selection is impressive! You can get a little bit of everything. I enjoyed the crab legs, spicy chicken, lo mein, and the sushi the most. The sushi was considerably fresh and replaced often. The crab legs were well seasoned and not mushy. Drinks are included in the price. I opted for jasmine tea. It was good Dessert for me was eating several ice cream bars. They tasted a little freezer burnt. There are so many options that I didn't get to. I will definitely come back!

Yelp
Ambiance: very modern, immaculate space, a 200 screen tv - the space is enormous. Bathroom was very clean. Organized space very well managed !!! Kudos to the manager and owner ! Service: was top tier. Our server Jeannette was a sweet heart always very professional, attentive, and friendly. She was even nice enough to give us waters to go. Food: when i tell you i have been going to buffets forever and i dont usually resort to the sushi station but Gohan is amazing for sushi and sashimi !!!! One of the most fresh fish ive tried at any sushi spot here in georgia. They had a variety of stations!!! The duck !!!!! Omg was i surprised when i saw it , roast duck!!! And it was superb!!! My daughter got up 4 times just to eat crab legs - yes!!! Crab legs !!! There are soup dumplings another fav!!! And a variety of coconut, mango bobbas and cold bottled teas , my husband loved the thai tea as well! The cantonese station was so fresh and delish but i was so drawn by the sushi and the duck !!Star of the night for sure !!! Now they also had prime rib and a server slicing the meat for you which i thought was perfect with alittle salt. The pho station was A1 ! 42.95 per adult !!! Totally worth it. Cant wait to go back !!! Our bill was 130$ with tip we included.

Yelp
Gohan AYCE Asian Buffet is def heaven for seafood lovers. There's varieties of seafood options including sashimi. You'll be captivated by the beautiful decor & light fixtures as soon as you walk in. I went on a weeknight dinner to avoid the crowd & there was no wait. It $39.95 for weeknights & $42.95 on the weekend. Def worth the price bc the quality of the food was great & fresh. Sashimi was fresh as well. Peking duck tasted better than some upscale Chinese restaurant lol. Only caveat is that there wasn't any ginger scallion lobster, maybe they only serve that on the weekend.

Yelp
nice, Vegas-style buffet that sets itself apart from our typically hot pot, kbbq, sushi, and typical spots by combining lots of food options, including a drink section, Peking duck station, and raw selections. I queued up on a Sunday before opening hours about 11:40 ( opens at 12). Seated as soon as we reached the hostess, waitstaff was super nice and would grab extra lemons, utensils without any prompts like reading my mind ! I enjoyed the stone crab and raw octopus w wasabi as 2 favs. Expect a long wait if you arrive... at any time basically or show up early to wait before they open on a weekend

Yelp
Not bad at all!! Dare I say... Best buffet in Georgia! We walked in on a Thursday around 5pm with no wait, walking out there was groups and groups of people waiting. The good parts is the variety and quality of food and drinks right now. The beef and raw seafood seem very fresh and gets replenished frequently. Dim sum, snow crab legs, and raw oysters were being served. The oysters were actually my favorite. Super delicious. Raw salmon was very delicious too. I also liked the braised pork belly and stir fried lobster. The drink selection was very good too. They had passion fruit tea with lychee jelly and taro milk tea. Improving their dessert selection would be amazing. They only had premade desserts from US Foods and fruit. If they had homemade desserts or fresh baked desserts that would really make it 5 stars since they don't .. it wouldn't justify 5 star buffets like in other states. Service was great except when you need something from people in different sections. Totally awkward.. we witnessed a family asking a server for something and she just looked back and said "can you ask your own server" i understand why she said it but I was turned off. Our server was excellent though. Overall looking forward to returning and taking my parents. They'd love to see the experience.

Yelp
The variety of Asian cuisine was spectacular! You could have oysters, shrimp, lobster, steak, fresh fruit, authentic beverages, dim sum, vegetables and delicious desserts! Our service was fantastic, Coco was a great waitress very attentive!

Yelp
There's so much food to choose from and so fresh and the seafood OMG! Things you can only get from a sit down asian restaurant. It was like Hmart had a buffet! The service was fast and wonderfully friendly with an amazing price to boot! The ambiance can get a bit loud because it's such a large place with so many people, but it's gorgeous and clean! You've got to come here!

Yelp
The food was to die for! So many options and everything was delicious! So many drinks, and even boba which isn't something you can usually find in a restaurant! Every time we went back up to get more food, the waiters kept coming and taking our previous plates, making sure our table was clean! It was very spacious and there was so much space for lots of people to enjoy the food! The aesthetics was great and we felt very at home and comfortable in the environment.

Yelp
Finally....a Vegas style Asian buffet for the seafood lovers!!! Welcome to Duluth Gohan. My party of 2 arrived at 6:30 pm and waited roughly 20 minutes to be seated. Once inside, the space is massive with hot and cold buffets. My favs were the sushi and sashimi, ginger lobster and the varied preparations of seafood. For those that don't eat seafood, there were chicken, beef and pork options, but seafood was the main act. The space is modern and open with big screen tv's and private ViP rooms in the back. We left satisfied. Great experience!

Yelp
I am not a buffet eater but wanted to try this out ***FOOD: wow there is so much variety of food. Have sushi, seafood, snow crab legs, crabs oysters, fried foods, Szechuan, udon/pho noodles make your own bar, soups, salads, Chinese food, roast beef, sausage, ribs, lamb, duck, duck bao, dim sum, shrimp like 5 ways, drinks included, dessert cake and ice cream. Just look at all the pics (had more stations but only could choose 20pics) It was quality expensive foods, some you typically wouldn't see in a buffet. Overall the food was good-ok. After a while though everything started tasting the same. I don't even know how that's possible. So food was ok, nothing was bad at all. ***COST (OUT OF 4$) $$$ $40 flat for dinner, $43 for dinner on the weekend & lunch is cheaper. Kids measured by height ***DÉCOR: contemporary mish mash decor. Not sure to theme. There was hanging whales, tv with aquarium fish, silver figure of man and spinning top. But everything was clean, love the booths and the various chandeliers unusual lighting. Felt almost like i was in a Las Vegas buffet hall. Plenty of parking in a large strip mall. ***SERVICE: one attendant providing silverware, clearing your plate, giving you the shell cracker for your crab legs (honestly didn't need it since shells were so soft). Pay at the table when attendant gives you the bill ***RECOMMEND: YES RECOMMEND if you want to try buffet a la Vegas style. Go hungry.

Yelp
Another buffet opened so we had to try it out. It's in a typical Gwinnett Co strip mall with plenty of parking. The restaurant itself is very grand and opulent and spacious. I really did like how spread out everyone is. We arrived around 12:30 on Saturday and there was a 5 minute wait. There were so many options so I didn't get to try everything but they have all the typical sushi and Chinese buffet items. What I really like is the feee drink options- they had lots of choices from bottled teas to bubble teas. The sushi was fresh and the other dishes were good as well. I did notice that the duck station always had the undesirable pieces of meat like the neck so you kinda have to wait around for them cut more. The reason I'm not giving this five stars is because the dim sum and dessert selection were underwhelming. I was really hoping they had sesame balls but they didn't. Service was quick and attentive. All in all, this place lives up to the hype. Honestly, the price is fair given the decent selection of food and included drinks. If you're a seafood fan then it's definitely a must try!

Yelp
Amazing service. Everything was very clean which I especially appreciate at a buffet. We went for the dinner buffet because it includes the crab legs. All of the seafood and sushi tasted fresh, especially the oysters. Galbi ribs were the standout. Good value for the price.

Yelp
Food: Fresh and delicious! We arrived around 3 pm. Every dish I tried was delicious . They have this lobster dish that only lasts 2 minutes on the buffet line. Which makes it hard to get! Please have back to back pans ready of this dish! I only got to try one piece! Ambiance: The Resturant is decorated beautifully! It reminds me of a Casino!

Yelp
Came back to Gohan Buffet for Father's Day after hearing the food had improved--glad we did! Great lunch vibe, quick service, and the decor still feels upscale. Highlights: juicy ginger scallion lobster, tasty black pepper short ribs, and fresh sashimi. Some misses like the steamed crab (not too fresh) and sandy conch. Desserts were a nice surprise--loved the taro and red bean mille-feuille. Overall, food quality is better than before, and price feels fair. One of the better buffets in Atlanta, great for family gatherings!

Yelp
I have been here TWICE during their soft opening (Saturday and today/Monday) on Saturday, the fish/sushi was fresh, food was hot, and overall cleanliness was not bad for a buffet. I initially thought the $40 was not bad considering the raw fish, sushi, Peking duck, lobster, oysters, and snow crab. I thought the price was high but not bad for the selection. Today, has completely changed my point of view, the sashimi was FROZEN- HARD and the sushi area looked like a failed health score waiting to happen. I came with a larger party (some with food allergies) and found it VERY alarming none of the food was labeled. On top of that, EVERYTHING was cold, AT THE HOT BAR! Only god knows how long it was sitting out for. Even the broccoli in the chicken & broccoli was frozen. I'll give some leniency since they're still in soft opening, but the quality and cleanliness of this place is ridiculous. Also would suggest giving out waters when a tables seated. Our booth wasn't even cleaned when we sat down.

Yelp
I think this place is great! I've already come twice in one week. I came both times on a weekday night so it wouldn't be super busy compared to weekends. There was plenty of food and they never ran out of crab legs or anything while I was there. There is so much seafood here like crab, shrimp, snails, clams, sashimi, oyster, abalone, grilled salmon and they also had Peking duck buns and dimsum. Their sashimi especially the salmon is fresh and tasty. Love the huge variety of food they offer here. They also have a lot of drinks to choose from including canned drinks, milk tea, and tea with popping boba. Overall probably the best buffet in town.

Yelp
This is probably the fanciest/cleanest AYCE buffet in Atlanta. We came on a Thursday for lunch. It was $25.95 pp. We had 10 ppl in our party so we were able to stay in a spacious private room. The room had a tv, couch, and even your private restroom. It was nice! I took a tour to see what they had. They had fried foods, Chinese food station, carved meats (steak, ribs, sausage), dim sum, noodle station (pho or udon) fruit (even had dragon fruit and cherries) /salad bar, sushi/sashimi, dessert (mini cakes, puddings, school type ice cream ( my daughter said they sold that kind at her school) and drink station (mango, coconut, Thai tea, and other type of drinks as well as bottle drinks. I started off with sushi rolls which was good. Had some steak (little in the dry side) My husband and I shared a bowl of pho. The broth didn't even taste like anything. There was a lot of food I didn't try. It was busy during the week. Would I come back, maybe for dinner since they have crab legs, but I wouldn't go out of my way since I'm not a buffet person. They included tip on the bill for our big party.

Yelp
After 2 years of waiting, I found out they're doing a soft launch so might as well go try and see what the wait was for. Dinner is sound $35 per person and lunch is $26. Walking in, it's huge; you see a lot of tables, an array of food right? You sit down, server comes and tells you where each thing is, but you have to ask for water, extra napkins, etc. You see a lot of variety in food, but some are too sweet or salty. Some aren't even fresh. Like once I was done with 3 plates, I was ready to be finished with my meal. I think this place was overhyped, especially given the price per person here. Service could've been better, as well as the overall organization of the place. There is a high chance of cross contamination if you're allergic to certain things, and definitely could improve in many areas. I don't think i'll be coming back, and for the same price I might as well go to Nori Nori.

Yelp
I tried twice to enter the Gohan Buffet Gates, only to realize I hadn't collected all seven Dragon Balls--aka, they weren't open for lunch. But finally, under the cover of night, I completed my quest and stepped into this all-you-can-eat battleground. First thought? This place is huge. Hard to believe this was once a Barnes & Noble, where my wife and I had our first date. Back then, we were flipping through old yugioh books and sparknotes--now, I was flipping through questionable seafood selections. Our party of eight was pumped, thanks to a friend who had already been here twice and spoke of legendary eats. But as I took my first bite, my power level plummeted faster than a Saiyan without plot armor: * Snow crab? Tasted like a Senzu Bean... rolled in dirt. Rubbery and sad. * Meats? Drier than Planet Namek's last five minutes (which, as we all know, lasted forever). * Sashimi? The only Super Saiyan of the meal, barely saving my experience from complete defeat. For the price, I expected at least one dish to go Ultra Instinct, but instead, I got an expensive lesson in regret. If you want better food for half the price, take Snake Way (aka Pleasant Hill Road) to Golden Corral--it may not be gourmet, but at least you won't need a Dragon Wish to fix your meal. However, if you enjoy donating your Zeni to the void, by all means--step into the Gohan Buffet Stadium and witness the ultimate test of your culinary endurance.

Yelp
If you're looking for value from a buffet, this is definitely not the place. Many of the average reviews of this restaurant made known to all the quality of the food. If this place lowered its price a little, then the value would be greater.

Yelp
For a buffet experience, this is wonderful. Fresh sashimi, sushi, dim sum, and an almost overwhelming spread of food. Service was very good as well. We went for the $25 weekday lunch buffet.

Yelp
Food is okay. Some dishes have no flavor and/or are lacking of. The sushi is good. You pay for the snow crabs really. Our server is great and very attentive, however. I HATE the purple lighting. It made our family feel sleepy/nauseous. So if your eyes are sensitive to lighting, watch out. Especially if you have astigmatism like me. Besides that the food wasn't great but not bad.

Yelp
**Second time ** We visited Gohan Buffet again, this time on a Sunday around 1 PM, and the experience had some differences from our previous visit. There was about a 45-minute wait for a table, which was understandable for a busy weekend. However, when we were finally seated, the table felt a bit small for our party of seven, but we made it work. Service was a bit slow this time--it took about 10 minutes to receive water, and even then, they didn't bring enough for everyone at the table. The drink selection was also more limited than before--no coconut milk tea, peach milk tea, or mandarin soda available, which was disappointing. I did try the taro milk tea and a sparkling lime drink and both were great, so that was a nice surprise. One noticeable change was the limited fruit selection--no dragon fruit, strawberries, or papaya like before. As for dessert, while they looked visually intriguing, the sticky rice and custard were served cold, which took away from the authenticity of a dish that's traditionally served warm. The sticky rice itself was also harder than expected. That being said, there were still plenty of highlights: a great variety of sushi, fresh and cooked seafood, the soup station, and a nice selection of dim sum. These elements remain strong points for Gohan Buffet and kept our meal enjoyable despite the minor disappointments. For four adults and three kids (7, 6, and 3), our total was $240.25 before tip. While we still enjoyed our visit, the inconsistencies in service and selection this time around make me wonder if weekends are just much busier and harder for them to keep up. I'd still return, but maybe at a different time to see if the experience feels more like our first visit!

Yelp
I went here 2 times. The first time is excellent foods, drinks, services. 2nd time I am kind disappointed. Less drinks variety choices, cup is smaller. Crab legs & lobster is very limited for the each Customers. If you're paying to go there for lobster & crab legs, it's not worthy for what you paying for. If they are still keeping service the way it's now, I am not going back.

Yelp
The service was great and the wife love all the seafood you get on the buffet. The Ambiance makes you fill like your on vacation.

Yelp
My brother treated our entire family to Gohan Buffet on my Birthday. The place is huge and has everything from Sushi, Chinese, Vietnamese, American, Salad bar, Crab legs and more but nothing really hit the spot for me. A $40.00 per person price I think is not bad for the very large variety of the food you get but I am not sure if I am going back tho. They have a 2 hour limit at buffet bars.
google avatar

Yelp
The service was fantastic, professional and accommodating. The food variety was overwhelmingly vast and quite delicious, but the food temperatures weren't as hot as I would like. Overall, I would recommend and definitely return!
