Gohan Review - Lower East Side - New York - The Infatuation

"We don’t know a lot of professional poets, but if we did, we would take them to dinner at Gohan. We also don’t know Jared Leto, but that’s another person we’d take to this little Lower East Japanese restaurant. Does anyone know some cool artists who lived in Soho in the 80s? Please extend our invitation to them to eat dinner at Gohan. If our imaginary Gohan dinner party hasn’t painted the picture, we’ll explain it in more concrete terms: this is a peaceful, low-key place serving Japanese food that’s inspired by home cooking. This restaurant is right around the corner from lots of new-ish, hyped-up restaurants like Kiki’s, Mission Chinese, Cervo’s, and Dimes, but it’s kind of the quiet kid in the neighborhood. In terms of food, it’s kind of the quiet kid too: nothing is overly spicy, or overly salty, or overly anything really. While you can eat a few fried things or some noodles, there’s plenty of tofu and sashimi, as well as a general feeling of healthiness permeating the air. It’s not healthiness in the extreme, but you won’t leave here with acid reflux and a sense of existential dread. As you might have guessed by now, it’s a good place to bring a vegetarian. It’s also a good place to bring a friend for a casual weeknight dinner, or an easy meal with someone you’ve been dating for long enough that going out for a meal isn’t a whole thing anymore. Of course, it’d also be a good place to bring Jared Leto, just as soon as he responds to that DM. Food Rundown Fatty Salmon Sashimi This is basically salmon toro, topped with salmon roe. It’s the best thing at this restaurant. Soba Noodle Soup If you’re here on a cold day, this is worth a try. It’s soothing, if not the most flavorful. Zuke Tuna Roll A simple tuna and avocado roll. It’s a kind of rustic, almost amateurish sushi roll, but in a comforting way. Does that make any sense? It’s a totally edible sushi roll. Set Plate With Sides The cornerstone of the menu is the set plate section, where you pick a protein and a few sides, and you get some soup and rice as well. We like the salmon and the steak." - Hillary Reinsberg

We came on the recommendation of our friends. We arrived at 11:30 on a Saturday and did not have any seating issues. There were plenty of tables. The lobsters and crab in ginger sauce were delicious. Sushi overall was just OK compared to non buffet sushi. Desserts were mediocre. Cake was dried. The other items were slightly better than other buffets we went to. For $47 with tax per person is a little on the expensive end. Still contemplating if we want to return. I have to really have a craving for lobster and crab.

I would recommend this place any day of the week! The food is ultra-fresh, the selection feels limitless, and there's something for everyone. To be such a large place, they really work hard at keeping food stocked, even when busy. This has become one of my favorite places. Lunch is like $20 cheaper than dinner.

My family and I went for dinner and arrived at around 7 and the wait was short. The place was very clean and the staff was friendly. The food was fresh and tasty. I did get the lobster however I would not recommend it because it was unrecognizable and had some kind of sauce on it that gave it an odd taste. Everything else I got was delicious. The seafood and sushi bar were amazing and so fresh! I do wish they had more options for dessert but I was overall very satisfied! I think I got 7 plates ! 😅 my favorite items were the crab rangoons, oysters, pork belly, lamb chops, and mussels.

Without a doubt, the best buffet experience I’ve ever had. The only reason why it doesn’t get four stars for food and Service is because the cuisine is Asian and some of it is pretty niche. I did choose some options that I didn’t like and so did my wife. The service was decent but not exceptional. But the atmosphere is crazy. I never even knew a buffet with this ambience existed. Perhaps the biggest pleasant surprise was the price. For the amount of food and the selection and also some pretty exotic things that they have, I felt like they could’ve charged me almost double and I would’ve paid it.

Google
Huge selection that just kept on rolling. Quality seemed decent. Lots of Asian themed bottled drinks which was neat. My Wife said that the Crab legs were really good, better than some other places that we had tried. They had lamb chops which I really liked, however they kept on running out of them, not sure if that was deliberate or not. Plenty of other selections though.

Google
There’s a lot I could say about this place, but I’ll try to keep it short. Efficiency: They’ve got a smooth flow when it comes to seating parties. Spacious: Even when it’s busy, you don’t feel packed in. There’s plenty of room to move and the tables are spaced out nicely. Food: Solid for a buffet with a ton of variety. My highlights were the crab legs, Peking duck, pork adobo, fried squid, and the seafood boil. Bonus points for including bottled drinks and teas. Some dishes that needed extra love: clams in black bean sauce, snails, lobster. The Thai tea was a bit watery. Service: Overall friendly, but our server wasn’t as attentive as I’d like. We had to ask for water refills and napkins. Would I go again? Absolutely. Do I recommend? Yes!

Google
Really cool atmosphere, kind wait staff, and excellent food with many selections. Everything I had here was good even if some of the foods didn't identify with my personal taste. I have never seen so many cool and interesting seafood options at a restaurant. The fried calamari was the best I have ever had. This is now the best AYCE I have ever been to and I highly recommend. Food is exceptional quality.

This place was recommended by 2 of my friends because my husband loves sushi and seafood and I love Asian BBQ.. and this place did NOT disappoint... keep in mind both my spouse and I are NOT fans of any buffet but this place definitely dis NOT give buffet vibes. It was clean and the food was endless😭.... it was my husband's birthday and our server Rameses was VERY ATTENTATIVE and accommodating to my request for mybhubbys birthday. I would definitely recommend and will be returning here in the future😍. Thank-you Rameses for making my husband and I feel special 🤗

Yelp
First time here and overall an above average Asian buffet that is spacey, modern, and quite clean with good service. I would say the food is maybe 1-1.5 points out of 10 above average compared to most other Asian buffets, but that does come with a slightly higher price point. They offer AYCE lobster, freshly heated pho, Peking duck, bubble tea drinks, and the classic buffet foods, with mostly the first parts of this list making it stand out. There is usually a line for the lobster and meat slices, but it goes by decently fast. The heated pho station is also quite nice as they freshly heat up the noodles and you are free to choose your toppings. The meat quality isn't fantastic but it gets the job done. The taste of the food is also overall slightly better, but again still follows the classic buffet style with okay meat quality. Our waitress was quite kind and checked in often. For a nicer buffet at a reasonable price point, I would say this definitely is a good place. Not outstanding but definitely above average!

Yelp
Gohan buffet is the bomb! Very popular and I can see why! We came on a Saturday evening and ended up having to wait approx 50 minutes for a table. The wait was certainly worth it as the ayce buffet is well stocked and delicious! You can have a seafood feast here as well as other cuisines such as Sichuan, Vietnamese, Italian, Dim Sum, and Korean! The seafood is fresh and delicious! The crab legs and lobster make the value for this meal outstanding! Drinks are included and include bubble tea drinks which are well made and tasty. My only hope is that they will maintain this quality and value for years to come as I can see this place staying very popular for quite some time as long as the value and quality remain high. Our server was very kind and made the whole experience even better. The ambiance and atmosphere of this place is very clean and well kept. The shopping plaza that Gohan is in is bustling and hopping and very popular as it is now full of excellent restaurants and dessert shops and a happening Asian scene. 5 solid stars easily and two thumbs up! Thank you Gohan Buffet for being here in Duluth, GA! P.s. Great options for the whole family including picky kids!

Yelp
When first walking in the counter will give you a number then have you sit while you wait for a open table. The ambiance is very welcoming with dim lights. Our server Cindy was very sweet and attentive. She constantly checked up on us asking if we need refills or if we had any questions. For any sodas you need to ask your server, they also have free juices and milk teas which are always cold. I tried a bit of everything for this review to give a full and honest review. Here are a few heads up to take note: the drinks that are in cups such as the taro milk teas, coconut milk tea or mango with lemon slices aren't free for to-go and they will charge you $3.00 if you take one to-go. They also accept Apple Pay, they have a make your own pho bar which is very good and made fresh. Everything is unlimited with no extra charge as long as you aren't taking to-go items. They have signs displayed for each item but be wary because some signs are out of place. Each place as their own location sushi has the pho bar are on your left, drinks, fruits & dessert are in the middle island and meats/ main courses are in the back. The salmon does have bones and was overcooked when I tried it. The fried fish has a bit of a kick and also has bones. Here's some of the things they have: Crabs, snow crab legs, short braised ribs, short ribs, ribs, duck, pork belly, dumplings, fried rice, fried calamari, pho, cheese pizza, black pepper shrimp, sushi, steamed buns, black pepper chicken, different kinds of soups, lamb, fried wings, fries, coconut shrimp, fried shrimp, garlic toast, vegetable spring roll, general tao, broccoli chicken, green beans, mushrooms, seafood boil, steamed fish, claims, snails, crawfish, sausage, ice creams, oysters and many more things. However the shrimps were overcooked to the point they were mushy and the garlic on the short ribs was burnt giving them a burnt taste also were over cooked. The pork belly had a strong taste of star anise. The duck didn't have much flavor and had a tiny bit of gammy taste. The fried rice didn't have much flavor or color. But everything else was overall pretty good and I will be coming back. For two people it was $93.17, I say it was worth the price.

Yelp
I'd been wanting to check out Gohan since it opened, and my partner and I finally made it there on a Saturday. I'd heard it has a large buffet, but I didn't realize just how huge it is. Upon entering, the staff greet you from behind a counter, much like a hotel lobby, and then guide you around the corner to one of the seemingly endless tables. From there, a massive array of food awaits. It's nearly on the scale of some of the Las Vegas buffets. The variety at Gohan is impressive. There's a wide selection of Asian drinks, sushi, seafood, appetizers, fruits, proteins, and vegetables. They also have an immense salad and dessert bar. For $43, it feels like a great value given the sheer amount and variety of food. The highlights for me were the crab, lobster legs, and oysters. Each one was fresh and flavorful. Although there were a couple of items we didn't enjoy, overall, my partner and I left pretty satisfied.

Yelp
I had been hearing so much about this buffet so I was excited to try out this location. So many options! They had sushi, dumplings, seafood, and Chinese style food. They even had a pho station! I love buffet because I can try a little of everything, and most of the food I tried were really good. There was a line for the seafood section (most popular), and I did not like that it was in front of the other food stations. I felt in the way while in line. I wish it could have been place at a different section. Other than that, I enjoyed the food. Not to mention the boba teas and herbs drinks were included as well! I would totally come back!

Yelp
This place is GREAT!!! The inside was very organized into multiple sections of food. Everything I ate was fresh and surprisingly good. The waiters did an awesome job. I noticed how they attended to all the customers while keeping the place clean. Gohan gave me an upscale buffet dinning experience and I can't wait to bring my greedy kids here. I know they will like it.

Yelp
Finally tried Gohan Asian Buffet for lunch today and was blown away by the huge variety and freshness of the food. The atmosphere is very modern Vegas like but priced much better than Vegas buffets. So much seafood varieties and preparations with a wide variety of Asian Bottled drinks, bubble teas, and Milk Teas also included as well as Dim Sum selections though not the best tasting. Service was very good and attentive; our server checked on us frequently. Overall I would say it's good and would come back again. Some dishes were quite good, others acceptable, and some disappointing but well worth it overall.

Yelp
HI! UPDATED REVIEW HERE!!!**** I came back MONTHS after soft opening and have seen such a difference in quality, cleanliness, and food prep! Honestly had a GREAT time back here, everything was labeled, food was served out at appropriate temperatures, and tasted as good as a buffet gets! Definitely recommend this place now and I'm so happy with the improvements!

Yelp
Wow what an experience. This is for sure worth the wait and cost . The decore is top notch. I feel like I'm on a Vegas cruise ship . Everything is bright clean and organized. The food is ultra fresh and so many options to choose from. I loved the chicken wings tasty , tender & perfection. The crab Rangoon is up there as well . Sadly the calamari was tough and stiff very difficult to chew . The steak was more London broil and the sausages was extremely greasy. The sushi was top tear the seafood was perfection . Make sure you're paying attention to when they call the numbers . They definitely have a system in place but lots of people waiting outside or by their car missed their numbers being called . If you have a huge party I'd designate one persons inside listening . Rather than everyone inside taking space or everyone outside and you loose out on your spot. The later you arrive the longer you wait.they don't do reservations on weekends only Monday through Thursday/ Friday I believe. Still overall great place to bring guests if you'd like variety and fresh seafood. The desserts sadly aren't that appetizing there like layered crepe desserts which have a very acquired texture and flavor and the mini bite desserts are okay but simple . Service is great they clean up your plates and give you refills regularly. Reminder if you come with a big party tip is in fact included.

Yelp
We decided to make this Asian buffet palace our last big meal before driving back home... Truly, this was possibly the biggest buffet restaurant I've ever seen (probably on par with Las Vegas buffets). Among Asians, this place is quite famous-popular too. When we hit the place at 11 am, there was a long line outside the door! Honestly, I can't even recall seeing a line this long for a restaurant...ever?? Also, if you're a non-Asian, you may feel a bit outnumbered. The whole time we were there, I only saw maybe 4-5 non-Asians, and that included my husband! The place itself was not only spacious and lofty, it had this cool, serene decor...though with some neon ambiance reminiscent of the 80's. Once we made it in, it took awhile to check out the place. Again, it's HUGE. The selections were quite tantalizing...but to summarize, it was mostly Chinese food, some Japanese...and really, the only Korean item I saw was Kimchi. No matter, I felt there were possibly one too many options! As much as this place deserves 5 stars, there was this one big issue. The long hot foods line was possibly THE longest buffet line I've ever been in. With all the space available, I felt they could have doubled up on all the hot foods to shorten the line. It actually took about 10 minutes to get through this long line...as in WTF?!? I nearly docked a star for this, but I can't. The service was really good...as our waitress (bus girl?) was right on top of things, as our plates were quickly removed every time we got up for seconds, thirds, etc.etc. Maybe because it was Labor Day, but the lunch buffet pricing was $42.xx...much higher than its usual $25.99. However, our meal was every bit worth $42.xx (probably more!). We ate a ton of Lobster, Crabmeat, Crawfish, Oyster, Shrimp, and other varieties of fish! Unlike most Chinese buffet, this place had a great variety of seafood! Also, the sushi selection was very good. The Dim Sum and dessert selection was on the smaller side, but quite good as well...as in high quality. They even had mini Mille Crepe Cakes! Overall, we loved it! Can't wait to revisit...though we agreed to go on a non-holiday, and maybe during off hours to avoid the lines.

Yelp
Gohan Buffet in Duluth brings a slightly upscale, Vegas-style vibe to the all-you-can-eat experience. The space is clean, modern, and surprisingly stylish for a buffet -- definitely not your typical strip-mall setup. I loaded up on lobster, steamed fish, fried shrimp, steamed crab legs, and Cantonese-style roasted duck -- all of which were fresh and cooked just right. While the flavors were on the bland side, I actually prefer that over overly salty dishes. You can really taste the ingredients, especially in the Cantonese stir-fried items, which were a highlight. The Vietnamese pho and soups were comforting, though the dim sum left a lot to be desired -- a bit dry and lacking flavor. One suggestion: it would be amazing if they brought in more Hong Kong-style BBQ options, like the ones they offer at their NYC location. Service was quick and efficient, and the buffet stations were clean and well-stocked throughout the visit. It can get busy, but the staff manages the crowd well. And before you leave, don't forget to grab a fortune cookie at the counter -- because what's better than ending your meal with a vague prediction and a little sugar? Pro tip: If your fortune says "You will soon receive great wealth," it probably just means you're about to get your credit card bill.

Yelp
Pretty neat buffet. Reminds me of Vegas buffets inside the Casinos but with much better pricing and better wait times. There were a large variety of food and free drink section for bottled teas, Juice, etc. The service is something to note because the staff were very attentive. They also have private party sections but general seating is large and very spacious.

Yelp
I'm not a big buffet person, but when I was invited out to meet a couple of friends of ours that we don't see often (yelpies) we welcomed the change. Knowing that Gohan was new, we decided to see what the hype was about. When you walk inside you're met with a massive welcome interior. Tons of seating for waiting parties, that wouldn't make sense to me until later on when you see masses of people just waiting to be seated. Behind the welcome part is just a massive buffet with tables and booths. We got seated right next to the massive TV. We wandered a bit and they have mostly everything you would want at an Asian buffet. Soup noodles, seafood/sushi, unique desserts, stir fries, baos, roast pork, fried foods and lastly salads. It was just pretty overwhelming. If you don't finish any drinks it'll cost you more since they watch out what people drink as they serve bottled drinks as well. They're all pretty sugary so, there's that. Anyways, I knew my limit so I didn't go over it, but I got to try out most of everything and I thought it wasn't bad. If you have a party and everyone is indecisive, buffets are perfect places to bring a party when everyone's taste buds are different. But for me, I'm pretty specific when I'm craving for something. Person of loyalty of finding a good place that does one thing very well, and not something that is meh on every front. Overall, Gohan isn't bad. It's lavish. It's big. It's loud. Its alright for a buffet. It beats golden corral any day.

Yelp
This place was in a word, huge. Had everything you could think of including a hot butter dispenser for your seafood. I have to admit I had to do a walk-through first because it is the largest buffet I've ever been to. But the drink choices were wonderful and the dessert was delightful. I was obsessed with the fact you could make your own pho or have baskets of dim sum for yourself. I will definitely be back to try more but I ran out of room too fast. The only thing was that some of the food didn't seem to stay as hot as others.
google avatar

Yelp
Good food selection, great service, spacious inside. Some of the favorites included snow crab legs, crawfish, salt pepper shrimp, sushi, and desserts. Be prepared to wait a little while for your table. There is a drink section with bottled tea, sushi bar, seafood, appetizers. Our server Lucy was great!

Yelp
I met a few friends here for lunch. It was pretty busy even after 1pm on a week day. The parking lot is large but filled with cars. The restaurant is huge! It even has vip area with its own bathrooms if you have a large party. There is a counter right when you walk in but no one greeted me. I had to walk up to them and ask for a table. A server walked right up to us when we sat and asked if we wanted drinks. They do have a drink station with prepared drinks but we also asked for a pot of hot tea. You can also order sodas. The buffet is large and full of variety. There's different stations but I felt overcrowded anywhere I went. I tried some seafood, sushi, pho, dim sum and toasted beef. Many food had wrong labels. The hot food were lukewarm. The fruits were room temp and not ripe. I would stick to sushi, dim sum and their pho station. Overall, a good try. But I will not return due to the mediocre food quality and the amount of people swarming around the buffet.
google avatar

Yelp
This is an amazing buffet with a Vegas style interior. They have tons of sushi, crab claws, lobster, boba tea, and a million other items to choose from. The service was great and they made sure to clear the empty plates and check back to see if we needed anything but this is self serve mostly. The boba tea and bottled drinks are I cloud you drink them in the restaurant. There is an up charge if you take them out of the restaurant.

Yelp
*Ambiance? Absolutely stunning. * Food (per my very happy family)? Phenomenal. * Allergy safety? Needs attention. Walking into Gohan Buffet during the day felt like stepping into another city. The ambiance had that lively vibe you usually find in destination cities where everything is designed to impress. I was genuinely excited to try the buffet, the spread looked incredible. But as someone with a shellfish allergy, I quickly noticed guests were using the same utensils across different dishes, causing cross-contamination. Because of that, I had to sit this one out. Still, my family got to enjoy the full experience, and they were impressed. They couldn't stop talking about how fresh and delicious everything was. They'd come back for the coconut shrimp, catfish, crab legs & ribs. My one piece of feedback to the staff would be to keep a closer eye on the serving stations. Maybe swap utensils more often or post reminders to help prevent cross-contamination. It would make a big difference for guests with food sensitivities.

Yelp
This is my first time to the Gohan buffet and I was pleasantly surprised at what an amazing place this was. They have little bit of everything for everybody. They also have an option for you to purchase food by the pound versus doing the buffet (to go orders only). They have rooms that allow you to host dinner parties for 20 or more people (no charge). Pros: a good variety of Asian food, including sushi Cons: they don't know how to manage large crowds, and there is a language barrier Payment process was very difficult. They need to have handheld merchant terminal devices to make it easier for them. I definitely will be back .

Yelp
Make sure you come with an empty stomach! It was our first time going and it was definitely an experience! We went on a Sunday and thankfully there was no wait. Atmosphere: It gave a very classy feel. The spaces were very clean and organized. Typically, food areas would be kind of messy but here at Gohan, they made sure to tidy up! Food: There was sooooo much food! Definitely make sure to go on an empty stomach. There was a lot of seafood, fried items, and many other things. They have a pho station which is so nice! Something I haven't seen before was the drink section at the dessert area. Great inclusion outside of soda and water. They do charge, however, so check the price before grabbing. Service: Upon coming in, they recognize you from the jump which is very attentive. Our server was very nice and attentive. Whenever we had questions or needed anything, they were there. Overall, 10/10. It is pricey for a buffet but it's understandable with the variety of food available and atmosphere. Definitely worth a try!

Yelp
My husband and I went to Gohan Buffet for date night, and it was amazing! He's a huge seafood and sushi fan, and I absolutely love pho and all kinds of Asian cuisine -- this place had everything we both enjoy. The all-you-can-eat buffet is only $43, and that even includes drinks and BOBA, which is such a great deal! We loved it so much that we went back again for his birthday, and now it's officially our go-to spot. Even though we live in Lexington, GA, we don't mind the drive because it's 100% worth it every time. The food is always fresh, the variety is incredible, and the atmosphere is perfect for a fun date night or special occasion. Highly recommend Gohan Buffet if you're looking for great food, great value, and a great experience! Service was amazing, servers are always ready with refills!

Yelp
When they first opened there was always a wait. Now you can get in quicker and no lines. Weekends are still busy though. If you're looking for a good buffet that's worth going to with good quality food this is the one. It is the best buffet in town but it is also the most expensive. However they do serve all the higher end items for dinner and that's why lunch is cheaper. Dinner often has more premium meats, carving stations (e.g. roast beef, ribs), more seafood dishes (like oysters, seafood boil, nigiri, abalone, crab legs, oysters) Lunch (Mon-Fri, 11:00-3:30 PM): adult $25.95, kids 6-10 ~$17.95, younger kids ~$11.95. Depends on age or height. Dinner Weekdays from 3:30 PM $39.95 adults; and all day weekends higher price $42.95 for adults kids $15-$20 They do have wide arrange of options for dinner. You really can't try ever item for dinner. I love the drink selection. It has a large selection of premade drinks and bottled Asian drinks which my kids loved and so did I. The space is enormous. The buffet filled the back left hand or the restaurant into the middle but there was plenty of space and seating areas. The waiting lobby area was already big and a waste of space they had a bar at the end which people don't even utilize. Overall it's a decent place to go to get everything you're craving. It's just so much you can get overwhelmed and not even want to eat. The food was good but nothing I found was extraordinary. Good place to take out of town guests and to go when your hungry and don't know what to eat
google avatar

Yelp
Plenty of options here for all tastes and preferences! I was excited for the pho station but got too full on everything else to try it. Loved that bottled drinks and specialty drinks were included, such a nice touch. Make sure to come hungry!

Yelp
First attempt was a failure. Went on a Saturday night with a party of (15+). Waited over 2 hours (understandable since it is a ticket for first come first served). Asked when we'll be seated after 2 hours since it was close to their closing time (1.5 hrs before they closed) and they said they were working on getting us a table ready. After 30 minutes of waiting asked again and got the same reply. As we walked out they finally said they had a table ready for us when in fact they could have asked if we wanted to be seated together or separately, when we asked but they didn't even bother to offer. So if you have a big group I would recommend you going early. *Second time on a Saturday morning, this time went with a group of 7. Went right when they opened. Was able to get seated right away. Had an ok selection of food but wasn't what I really expected for that price $42.95. There are better buffets for that price.

Yelp
Go hungry! For lunch, I thought it was worth visiting if you're super hungry and ready to stuff your belly for $25. Overall, food quality was decent like sushi/sashimi, anything shrimp, pho, boiled fish, and fried chicken! Boiled fish is definitely one of the house favorites as it was always gone. Also, they have various desserts and we really enjoyed the coconut drink! As far as service, we had a great experience! Our server saw the bday bag that we had brought for our friends and brought out the staff with piece of cake/candle to sing bday song for us. That was super sweet without even asking! What I really wanted was the crab legs but they do not have that available for lunch. Their "all day dinner" is confusing as it is only available for weekends and I would just update to "weekend pricing" as i thought i was able to have dinner anytime as long as I paid for the upcharge.

Yelp
Right in the plaza by the Chubby Cattle and Juicy Crab in a very very VERY large building. The interior is spacious and yet, the fact that this is a Chinese buffet, the offerings are... rather limited to the generics we all expect from a Chinese buffet. The ambiance is definitely the jam here! It's well lit. Spacious. Pleasant to sit in. You can navigate this place easily as it is a buffet. The service is basic. They bus the tables once your plate is empty and the refills are based on asking them so it's pretty basic. But the servers are prompt, courteous, and professional. Now for the food. It's basic. Like my rating states. It's ok. All I can say with Gohan Buffet is that this is an overglorified DIY Panda Express. Panda Express is OK, for fast Americanized Chinese food... So my rating reflects that this place is OK... They offer the basic standard Americanized Chinese food. Don't let the overhead lights displaying the food choices fool you. They didn't offer much in terms of Szechuan or even Cantonese. It was all Americanized Chinese. How do I know? They had a steaming plate of General Tso's Chicken, that's how i know this is an Americanized Chinese buffet. They did offer some of the more not well known items like snail (which I tried and can't get behind in terms of flavor or texture since it sat out and parts of the snail crusted up), cold chicken feet, and rando seafood options. They also have the generic sushi/sashimi offerings too but with it being a buffet, tread lightly as it is... sushi left out for a prolonged period of time. And they do have dim sum along with prime rib, bbq ribs, and your standard Chinese soup options like egg drop or hot and sour. Pepper steak was basic, the prime rib was basic, they did have a pho bar which was cool, salad bar was basic, the lo mein, fried rice, crawfish, spicy chicken (a red orange chicken lookalike), all of it was just basic. Yes it's all you can eat and go ham on it! But at the end of the day, it's Americanized Chinese food and you might as well get this at Panda Express for half the cost and considering it is a buffet and I managed to get about 5 rounds in because well, it's a buffet and that's the point. Gorge as much as you can so you can get your money's worth but it's Americanized Chinese food making Gohan Buffet simply... like I said... an overglorified DIY Panda Express. Yes, go here for the cool ambiance and the fact that they just opened but all in all... it's a DIY Panda Express with more seats and better lighting. Oh and you can add a salmon roll with it, that's just about it. Come here for the experience but it is a one trick pony as it is a buffet but as far as I can tell, at $25 for lunch and $35 for dinner plus tax and tip which you're looking at a $30-$40 meal, it could be better spent elsewhere for a DIY Panda Express.

Yelp
I came here with my buddy in August '25. I had a big appetite and left satisfied. When it comes to buffets I don't expect the food to be top tier, that's the trade off for the all you can eat. When it comes to gohan I can't lie, the lamb chops were better than most I've tried at restaurants. The sushi was a lot better than I anticipated. The short rib was perfectly seasoned. The oxtail soup was a little watered down, and the oysters were bottom tier(I love love oysters). Over all it was 42 dollars for great service and all you can eat. Definitely a step above Golden Corral. I will for sure be coming back.

Yelp
I enjoyed my experience here at Gohan Buffet! There was plenty of parking and the restaurant was easy to locate. The inside was very clean and there was a sufficient waiting area to be seated. There were soo many options for the buffet. Sushi, ribs, crab legs, meat, dim sum, fruits, boba tea, vegetables, etc. just to name some. I loved the variety. Everything tasted great. The service was okay and efficient. They came regularly to take the plates you were done with. I would definitely come back again!

Yelp
I honestly don't understand why this place doesn't have higher reviews! We visited Gohan Buffet on a Saturday and had to wait about 30 minutes for a table of five because it was so busy. The wait was absolutely worth it. Everything was fresh and delicious, from the sushi to the hot entrees. The pho broth was good! They charge kids based on height instead of age, which was a fair approach. The bathrooms were also very clean, which is always a plus when dining out. The ambiance was great. Modern, clean, and spacious with a nice layout that made the experience feel comfortable despite the crowd. The decor gives off a sleek, upscale buffet vibe, which adds to the overall dining experience.

Yelp
The ambiance is stunning, and the service is attentive. Best to go on a weekday at opening to avoid crowds. Food quality varies slightly, while some days are better than others, but it's always decent. Solid sushi & hot options. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
For 2 adults, it was $104 with tip (20%) & tax We had a good time so it was worth it for us with our baby. Not sure if they have high chairs as we bring our own but the tables are flat if you also use an Inglesina They have a ton of variety! We didn't get to even taste everything because we had zero room Your price includes drinks & buffet & ice cream bar/desserts Buffet has different sections like sichuan, sushi, salad, pho/soba section(made to order), hibachi, steak, seafood inc crab, desserts, soup, apps, dim sum and more Some highlights for me: Sichuan chicken Sauteed fish Fried flounder Snow crab Sushi / sashimi was very solid for a buffet Soups (all that I tasted were good!) Frog legs Clams Braised pork belly Matcha crepe cake Softshell crab Honey shrimp Items we didn't like: Sea snail (Sandy imo) Sauteed/seasoned crabs were overcooked Steak was dry, overcooked Dumpling (soup dumpling looking one) dry, too much dough Beef on the hibachi side Salt/pepper shrimp was overcooked We didn't get to try the dim sum or the pho or the apps/salads There's something for everyone here The dessert selection was decent.. you're not coming for dessert but they've got a variety to choose from. Mochi, castella cake, crepe cake, flavored whipped cream/mousse, ice cream variety The drink selection was great. Some flavored teas (powder mixes I think) and some tasted better than others. I liked the passion fruit with fruit jelly & the bottled yuzu drink I think There's a ton of parking in the shared lot and the space is huge in general There was a huge line to get in though so come early

Yelp
I been driving past this place for over 6 months and was wondering when it would open. Well, it's finally open! I am shocked to see the low reviews here. I still had to try out for myself. This restaurant is located in the huge shopping center where the Toys R Us used to be. It's been pretty empty for awhile. There is plenty of parking. Walking in, I was amazed by the decor and fanciness of the front desk. It looked like a fancy hotel front desk vs an Asian buffet. I was amazing and in awe on the chandeliers and enormous buffet. This place reminds me of the super fancy buffets at casinos. Price for dinner on weekdays is $39.99. And boy it was worth it. I can't begin to be amazed of that was offered here. The snow crabs were huge and fresh. You had a pick of steamed or cold ones. There was fried soft shell crabs which I have never seen at a buffet before. There was a prime rib, Peking duck, and sausage bar. There also was a dim sum section. The pho bar was very nice as well. The selection was sushi rolls were amazing and enormous. I was surprised to see snail there too. To top it off, they had a boba tea and drink shelf where you grabbed whatever you wanted and it was all included in the price of the buffet. There was salad bar as well. They even had butter for you to dip your crab legs into. There was way too much food for me to all try. The highlights were the soft shell crab which was delicious. I also enjoyed the garlic oysters. They were serve with one per plate. I wish you can grab more each time as they made it hard to grab a bulk. The snow crab legs were very tasty and fresh. I loved dipping them into the butter. The seaweed mix was very good as well. The peach fruit tea was very good. They ran out super fast. Waitress service was very good and she cleared the tables super fast. If your a seafood and sushi person, your going to love it here. The quality of food here is amazing and is definitely worth the month. The people that all gave bad reviews here, they have no idea. The dining experience and decor here is definitely high class. Comparing it to nori nori, this place is a steal!! I highly recommend it. I would like to come back and see what they all have for lunch as it's only $25. I can't wait to come back again.

Yelp
After reading several mixed reviews, I decided to give it a try for myself. The moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the spacious layout and the array of unusual sculptures. Even though the restaurant is still in its soft opening phase, I was quite impressed. We visited on a Tuesday evening, and despite the bustling crowd, we were seated almost immediately without any wait. Buffets can be unpredictable what's great one day might disappoint the next but I'm glad that I came on a day when everything was on point. I sampled a bit of almost every dish, but my three favorites were the Peking duck, the sashimi salmon, and the hot snow crabs. The salmon was a remarkably fresh and distinctly different from what you'd expect at a typical buffet (and it definitely wasn't frozen). The snow crab clusters were impressively large, and the meat was surprisingly sweet. At $40, this experience is definitely worth it. I'm looking forward to coming back soon and hope they continue to maintain these high standards

Yelp
I will start by saying, unpopular opinion, but it is 100% worth the price. I'm a bit confused by the negative reviews Gohan gets. Monday-Friday dinner is $40 per person. Saturday and Sunday $43 per person all day. That's right- even on Friday, it's still $40 instead of the weekend pricing! For this price point, what is there to complain about? You can't beat it for an AYCE seafood buffet. Is it the best seafood or even food in general? Of course not. It's a buffet. And not only that, it's an AYCE seafood buffet for ONLY $40 or $43. What else can you expect for that price?! That's about the equivalent of going to KBBQ these days. To think I can spend that much and get AYCE seafood, buffet food, AND boba?! I'm already impressed regardless of the food quality. I think people need to consider the price of Gohan before setting expectations. Now aside from that unpopular opinion, I have been to Gohan twice and I enjoyed the experience both times. I must be getting lucky, but I never had to wait in line or for a table at all both visits. Once was a weekday and once was a weekend. For my first visit I tried more of a variety of foods just so I could get an accurate idea of the quality of their food. For the most part, it is comparable to most buffet food in terms of the hot dishes, fried foods, desserts, fruits, and drinks. The boba is nowhere near comparable to boba from a boba store. I'd rather drink it than water or soda while I'm enjoying my buffet, but I can't say I would ever pay for that quality boba if it weren't included with my meal. I do like that they also include different flavors of tea bottles as well. I tried a jasmine honey flavored tea and a green tea. I definitely enjoyed the jasmine honey flavored tea and would probably stick with drinking that for future visits. As for foods that stood out... do NOT get the steak. It is SO dry. That was the only food I was actually disappointed with. Both visits, just by looking at it, I could tell it was dry. Both visits, it did disappoint. I absolutely loved the lamb chops both times. Very juicy and seasoned well. The sushi has more variety than other buffets, but it's just okay. Nothing impressive. I'd rather eat sushi here than at another buffet though. Probably a slight tier up from regular buffet sushi. Nigiri and sashimi is where it's at though. Both are offered during dinner and they have a variety of different fishes. These are probably what I ate the most of. Are they the best quality? No. But good enough that I'd keep coming back for them? Absolutely. Crawfish has good seasoning and are decent sized, but they are dry. Crab legs and lobsters is where the money is at. These are not self served. You have to ask the servers for them, however, they are not stingy and will fill your plate up. I enjoyed these very much and came back for 3 rounds of them. I'm also very impressed with the oysters. You can get them raw or grilled. Both options are good. I ate 3 plates worth of oysters. I do not like the hot sauce they had set out for the oysters though. Try it before you put it on all your oysters because it definitely ruined the oysters for me. Other things they have that I did not eat are a pho station, soup station, and dim sum station. My parents had the pho, and they were pleased with it. That should mean something because my parents are picky Vietnamese eaters. My sister had the dim sum and said its a bit on the drier side and recommended that I didn't waste my stomach space on it. My husband ate some of the soups and enjoyed them. Lastly, we have desserts. They have several different cakes: crepe cakes, cheesecakes, and regular cakes. They have several different ice creams. I already mentioned they have boba- probably at least 4 different flavors. You'll definitely find a dessert you like here. So as I said, 100% worth it. Don't let the negative reviews deter you. Try it at least once because for $40, why not? I would bring out of town guests here for sure. If my parents ever want to enjoy a meal out, this will likely be my default restaurant to take them as well. Also, service is good. They come and remove your trash and dirty plates nearly immediately. They're also quick to refill your soda if you ask. All this being said, I had a tough time deciding between a 4 vs 5 star review. It could go either way for me honestly because I do enjoy going here. But, I opted for 4 star because I wouldn't necessary brag about the food being amazing. I just think the food is perfect for the pricing and that I'm definitely getting my money's worth and getting to eat a bunch of food that I otherwise wouldn't normally get to eat for that price.

Yelp
This place was huge and so many food items. Had my birthday dinner here= 7 people. The wait for a walkin table was only 10 minutes. The service was top notch...attentive, friendly, funny and anticipated our needs before being asked. The food overall was delicious and fresh. Would love to see a vegan pho broth option and the lobster tail was a bit messy to eat but besides that no other real complaints.

Yelp
I love it! The food was great! Snow crab legs, lobsters, sushi roll, sashimi.. list goes on. I love that they have variety bottled drinks such as honey green tea, variety of boba drinks,l and other drinks included in the buffet. Improvements needed on their dessert, cakes are not thawed well and pork belly dish is too hard to chew/ dry. Service is amazing. Great deco/ ambience too! I will go again real soon .

Yelp
It is worth the money IMO Lots of seafood and great dishes. Reminder me of Las Vegas buffets. Couldn't try everything bc there was just so much food. They don't do senior discounts. Not sure about veteran discounts. It did kinda lack in the salad department but I don't eat too much of that in these places so it doesn't bother me. The food is stocked well so there's not a lot of waiting. The workers were nice and alert. Drinks are included in the price and if you ask them for the soft drinks they will get it for you. However, they are Pepsi not Coke products. IG: @mukbang.shin

Yelp
Great atmosphere, almost overwhelming when you first get there. They have food from all areas of China and Japan as well as some American dishes. Buffet price includes everything including the drink and desserts. Definitely worth a try!

Yelp
This place is HUGE! When you walk in the sheer space of the entrance and seating area is quite impressive. We were instantly seated at a clean, comfortable table right near all of the food. The selection is impressive! You can get a little bit of everything. I enjoyed the crab legs, spicy chicken, lo mein, and the sushi the most. The sushi was considerably fresh and replaced often. The crab legs were well seasoned and not mushy. Drinks are included in the price. I opted for jasmine tea. It was good Dessert for me was eating several ice cream bars. They tasted a little freezer burnt. There are so many options that I didn't get to. I will definitely come back!

Yelp
New buffet and already packed full of people. While there is no fresh food (like cooked to order), their sushi was probably the best I've ever had at a buffet, and all their food was very tasty. All in all a great buffet and I'll definitely be back! They call it a soft opening so hopefully they add freshly cooked food to their wide assortment - they had so much food I'm not sure what else they would add but that!

Yelp
We go to our fair amount of buffets that are heavy on the Asian cuisine. There are quite a few around that we enjoy and feel like are worth the price to get full with tasty food. This was a miss for us. It is predominately seafood....and a lot is raw seafood. I like seafood, my partner does not. Even a lot of the hot/fried offerings are various seafood. We also found a lot of the other protein options to be quite spicy, and neither of us are sensitive to it usually. The soups were good, I enjoyed the fresh steamed dumplings and the DIY pho bar. The meat at the carving station was painfully dry. They had what looked to be a prime rib or rib eye roast type cut but it was so dry we couldn't chew it. Same for the ribs at that station. There are some unique offerings like the bottled drinks and the boba tea offerings. This was a fun treat and we enjoyed trying a few. Desserts were not our favorites either. It's definitely a huge place that reminded us of a lot of Vegas buffets. The decor is bright, neon lights and flashy LED screens. It was pretty busy and people seemed to be enjoying! So this may just not be the right variety of food for us. The price was very high, even on a weeknight dinner. I was shocked. We won't be back!

Yelp
The food is good a little bit crowded. The only thing I did not like was if you were in a small group of two you would have to wait a longer time then if you had five people or more you went right in.

Yelp
Checked out Gohan while i was in atlanta. The place was very nice inside. The entrance was like stepping into a hotel lounge. It was pretty new and very clean. If you like seafood this is the spot for you. They have a large variety of seafood dishes like crawfish, oysters, and lobster. Overall the food was good and a lot of different selection. Save some room for the Pho bar. You can create your own pho. Pretty good Pho for a buffet. If you like asian food and seafood this place is a must, if you are in or around the atlanta area!

Yelp
Not bad at all!! Dare I say... Best buffet in Georgia! We walked in on a Thursday around 5pm with no wait, walking out there was groups and groups of people waiting. The good parts is the variety and quality of food and drinks right now. The beef and raw seafood seem very fresh and gets replenished frequently. Dim sum, snow crab legs, and raw oysters were being served. The oysters were actually my favorite. Super delicious. Raw salmon was very delicious too. I also liked the braised pork belly and stir fried lobster. The drink selection was very good too. They had passion fruit tea with lychee jelly and taro milk tea. Improving their dessert selection would be amazing. They only had premade desserts from US Foods and fruit. If they had homemade desserts or fresh baked desserts that would really make it 5 stars since they don't .. it wouldn't justify 5 star buffets like in other states. Service was great except when you need something from people in different sections. Totally awkward.. we witnessed a family asking a server for something and she just looked back and said "can you ask your own server" i understand why she said it but I was turned off. Our server was excellent though. Overall looking forward to returning and taking my parents. They'd love to see the experience.

Yelp
nice, Vegas-style buffet that sets itself apart from our typically hot pot, kbbq, sushi, and typical spots by combining lots of food options, including a drink section, Peking duck station, and raw selections. I queued up on a Sunday before opening hours about 11:40 ( opens at 12). Seated as soon as we reached the hostess, waitstaff was super nice and would grab extra lemons, utensils without any prompts like reading my mind ! I enjoyed the stone crab and raw octopus w wasabi as 2 favs. Expect a long wait if you arrive... at any time basically or show up early to wait before they open on a weekend

Yelp
Gohan looks and sounds like an expensive Las Vegas Buffet. My family had the opportunity to visit the Bacchanal Buffet in Caesar's palace this summer. It was the best buffet ever. Everything was delicious and well worth the steep price of $87 a person. However, when I found Gohan I was super excited about a closer buffet to go and splurge for special occasions. We decided to try this place on a week day. The place is beautiful and large. The buffet itself offers lots of variety and plenty of food. My wife and I love sushi so our first plate was filled with sushi. The sushi tasted watery, and did not have the flavors we enjoy at other sushi restaurants. I would give the sushi a 2 out of 5. Next we tried the dim sum. We go to Happy Valley Dim Sum close by and it is amazing. But Gohan dim sum tasted like it was purchased in bulk and steamed just prior to the buffet. It was pretty bad. I would not recommend the dim sum. We then tried some slices of squid and chicken teriyaki. Both were served cold. The squid smelled and tasted fishy. I would not do it again. The chicken was tender and flavor was good... but not sure why it was served cold. The ox tail soup was good and I would definitely recommend it. The other stirfry dishes were ok. The best was the shrimp that was slightly breaded. I grabbed a few desserts. They all tasted like variations of whipped cream. None of them were edible. The service was good. Our waitress was very pleasant and helpful. I would not go back to Gohan. To me... the aesthetics are not the reason to eat here... it should only be about the food. And for that I give the food 1 out of 5 and the atmosphere 5 out of 5.
