"Yuto Gokita is pioneering yakitori eaten with French sauces. In place of yakitori dipping sauce, Gokita favours Madeira and red-wine sauces prepared from chicken bones and calf broth. Skewers of chicken breast and shrimp are smothered in sauces of crustaceans. Skewers of chicken meatballs are accented with herb butter for a Bourgogne flavour. Reservations are required for the set menu which includes wood-grilled pigeon." - Michelin Inspector

We went to Gokita for dinner after finding the restaurant in the Michelin guide and thinking it was an interesting concept: an izakaya serving yakitori with French influences in both food and beverage. I was impressed with the level of professionalism and attention to detail of the team. Even with very limited English, they were very friendly and adjusted the menu to our dietary preferences. All the dishes were refined and properly executed, and the quality was excellent. My favorite was the pigeon - excellent taste and cooking process - and tsukune with escargot was superb. The wine pairing was also great and very generous in terms of quality, definitely great value for money. To summarize, it's a great place, and we'll be back for sure on our next visit to Tokyo.

I had a fantastic experience at this one Michelin star yakitori restaurant. We were seated right away and the restaurant was really clean and visually appealing. The food came out one at a time and as you would expect on an omakase experience. I also got it with the wine pairing, which went well with every single thing that I ate. The yakitori was made perfectly. It was very flavourful and smoky. The ambiance was nice and perfect for a dinner date. It was a wonderful experience and I recommend it to all my friends and family! Highly HIGHLY recommend

The Michelin Guide's understanding of yakitori is unique. This 2026 yakitori restaurant, described as a combination of French sauces and yakitori, was another disappointment, following the Hong Kong "Hee To" incident. The Maillard reaction failed to occur, resulting in the supposedly Akita Hinai chicken tasting bland and tasteless. I suspect it was switched out; Hinai chicken doesn't taste like this. The meat was mushy, lacking texture, and undercooked, lacking aroma. The so-called French sauce didn't complement the yakitori at all. The Omakase set meal was quite expensive, over 20,000 NTD per person, and the menu contained 3 or 4 errors in English. I don't recommend any yakitori fan to learn their lesson here. The most unpleasant aspect was the poor service. The manager and head chef, Itsuki, are among the most arrogant and rude chefs I've ever encountered. They only served Japanese guests and preferred to look at people with sidelong glances rather than directly. Their behavior was consistent with their mediocre and tasteless food. My only advice: Avoid this place!

Came here for a celebration. Found this restaurant on the Michelin guide as they were mentioned here. This restaurant is centered around traditional yakitori but elevated. There were a few unique dishes like pigeon and paella-stuffed chicken wings. They certainly earned the Michelin mention from the good service and great food. If you are a picky eater do not go here. Thank you for a great evening! I recommend!

A lovely dining experience in a beautiful setting. The restaurant is mostly just counter space, very well appointed and intimate. Food was exceptional, the staff were friendly and do speak some English which was very helpful! The wine pairing was fabulous and definitely recommended. We are still talking about the squid ink paella! Compliments to the chef for his lovely restaurant.

My friend recommended mr this place and decided to stop by here. This is definitely very unique for a yakitori place. They serve yakitori with various sauce paring with wine too. This could be a good place for people who wants to enjoy yakitori in very chic French style dinner. Service here is very good too. Ambience is very nice so great for a date or girls night. If you are into wine, and interested in yakitori, this is the place to go.

Food is too slow for Fine Dining Standard. 30 mins for each sticks of Yakitori is a bit too much. Seeing Head Chef as the only one Griller and struggling to keep up the pace of a  full house is somehow pitiful. There's even a Japanese Couple walked off halfway as they couldn't wait. In 14 years of Fine Dining Restaurant in many cities in Japan, this could be one of the worst. We have tried many Yakitori Restaurants before and we know exactly how it works. Compared to 焼き鳥 と ワイン 源 moto with the same (or lower) Price, Food Presentation/ Drinks/ and Hospitality there was another level. Ended up the whole Ambience was covered with unsatisfied-waiting Customers, that we decided to leave and found near by Ramen Place to complete the night. Anyway, wish you would take my comments for improvement. We know doing fine-dining restaurant is tough, but not every Customers are that patient and forgiving by trying to bite as small and have as much conversation as they could. Cheers
