Gokulam Grand Turtle on the Beach

- My Profile: Global traveller based in Dubai, who has visited over 40 countries, and only writes genuine and honest reviews to help others see the true picture from the perspective of an international globe trotter. - Location: Very good location, 10 mins walk to the Kovalam Beach. - Overall Vibe: This relatively small resort claims to be a 5* property but a very old one at that, needing some urgent refurbishment desperately. It would have been a good property in its glorious days, but now, it’s crying for help! - Hotel Facilities: The lift to begin with reminded me of a very tired 3* star hotel/inn. Even the hallways to the rooms are very depressing and need sprucing up! The gym is very old and haggard, and so is the Spa, which is far from being the reposeful paradise it claims to be. By no means can both be considered as 5* facilities. The pool is small, but decent. - Room Facilities: I stayed in the Signature Suite which was very spacious, with a lovely ocean view! But the rooms are in dire need of a change in furniture - stains on all furniture upholstery, and just very old stuff from the 90s! Somehow all the seating and even the bed was very low, which is not ideal. Also, the bed had a very uncomfortably broad wooden platform all around it - very old style. This makes it very difficult to get out of the bed without hitting your leg against the panel. Also very dangerous as you can easily injure your legs unknowingly while walking around the bed - kids to be careful. Toilets have thankfully been refurbished, but the room itself needs a major rehab. I got a good look at the Arabian Sea View Room which I like much much more (higher beds and seating, better room aesthetics) than the Signature Suite, which needs a major revamp :P - F&B: The first breakfast was enough to not make me eat another meal at the hotel. Restaurant is very depressing, again not a 5* quality. All my meals were at Taj or Leela Hotels nearby. - Overall: Why I’m giving my stay a 3* is because of the experience stated above and because I almost felt cheated for being told that this is a 5* property, and charged as a 5* property. I would say it’s a decent 4* hotel, but far from being a 5*! The stunning Taj and Leela Hotels nearby have a fabulous vibe. I would much rather pay a little extra and get those for the next trip. This time around, I booked last minute, and didn’t get any rooms at fathomable prices.

One of the loveliest experiences ever ... |A must stay resort if you are coming to Kerala. The staff is just sooo coordinating and warm. Mr. Rajesh and Deepa made our stay very comfortable and attended us whenever we wanted them. The food also is good. Can play little more with variety of the foods. Thanks for a beautiful stay. I definitely recommend it to everyone.

I recently visited the Sea View Bar and had an excellent experience. The place offers a beautiful view of the ocean, a relaxing atmosphere, and top-quality service. A special mention goes to the bartender, Shyam, whose professionalism and friendly nature made the evening memorable. He has an impressive knowledge of cocktails and crafted each drink with precision and care. His recommendations were perfect, and his warm approach made guests feel comfortable and valued. The overall ambiance, paired with Shyam’s outstanding service, made my visit truly enjoyable. I would highly recommend Sea View Bar for a refreshing coastal evening.

We received excellent service in this resort. We had the signature suite which itself was a great experience. Also the resturant staff Jomon, Devu, Rahul, Vishnu always there to help us and very attentive to all our needs. From front office has to mention about Tiny who was very helpful. The well kept pool and the beach helped make our vacation perfect!! We will definitely visit again.

I had an incredible stay at this 5-star hotel! The food was so good.Good ambience with beach view ..only 300ms away from the beach..The Ayurveda treatments were truly exceptional, thanks to the expertise of Dr Navaneetha for her recommendations for treatments.. those are excellent.Their professionalism and care made all the difference. The hotel's ambiance and hospitality were top-notch. Highly recommend for a rejuvenating experience 5/5 stars

The hotel’s location is good and the room had a nice view. However, beach access is not direct—you have to exit the hotel and walk for about five minutes to reach the beach. The room we stayed in became extremely damp at night, making the floor very slippery. The hotel manager suggested keeping the air conditioner on to avoid this, which was not a practical solution for me as I cannot tolerate AC for long hours. The lighting in the room was very dim and uncomfortable. In-room dining service was disappointing: dirty spoons were provided, no salads were served, and the food arrived cold. Overall, this property does not meet 5-star standards and is definitely not worth spending around ₹15,000 per night. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. You can get much better hotels at a much cheaper price.

Very good hotel to enjoy. At reception Mr Rajesh was very helpful and kind. The restaurant captain Jabin is taking care about our all needs. The Chef Arun Kumar food was very tasty. Vijay the staff in dining was also good. The Ayurveda massage manager Mr Vivek was doing amazing work. And all other staff was also very Kind & Humble. I definitely recommend anyone who goes to Kovalam must stay in this hotel.

Love from Belgium, 🍹 The Sky Bar Experience 🌃 We're sitting high above the city at a stunning sea-view sky bar. The air is warm, carrying the faint, salty scent of the ocean, and below us, the water shimmers under the evening lights. The music is smooth, just loud enough to set the vibe. And in front of us? The perfect Piña Colada, served in a chilled glass, garnished with a tiny umbrella and a slice of pineapple. It's creamy, sweet, and tastes exactly like a vacation. Behind the bar, our friend Shyam, the best bar guy in town, gives us a quick nod and a smile as he flawlessly shakes up another drink. He always knows exactly what we want before we even order it.
