"Soccer is ascendant nationwide, but Portland has long been a bastion for the beautiful game. At Gol PDX, fútbol is a passion, from the Thorns and Timbers to Serie A and La Liga. Longtime footie fans are welcoming to neophytes here at the former 442, now under new owners but with the same dedication to association football. The simple food menu is highlighted by an expansive brunch, with bottomless mimosas for the daring. With time zones always a factor for international soccer fans, Gol opens at 7 a.m. on weekends and often even earlier for the World Cup or other major events. Soccer will always take top priority, but it’s not uncommon to see a Blazers game here on occasion." - Dianne de Guzman, Rebecca Roland, Eater Staff

"With being named for a soccer formation (4 defenders, 4 midfielders, 2 forwards) and an eye-catching paint job out front, there’s no ambiguity about this little bar’s focus. It’s all soccer, all the time. Jerseys, scarves, and other memorabilia line the walls, and there’s always a game showing on TV. When the hometown Portland Timbers are on, the place is packed and raucous. If you cheer for the Green & Gold, the fans and owners alike will make you feel right at home. The food is good too, featuring authentic Bosnian pub cuisine." - Kevin M. Fitzgerald

"Gol, a bar owned by amateur soccer player Peter Mahr, will replace the soccer-themed bar 4-2-2. Gol will maintain a soccer spirit but will also be a place for general socializing. The bar's food menu, previously Bosnian, will change. The bar is expected to reopen in mid-September." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

I’m a huge fútbol fan and I enjoyed every second being here! I stopped by during Labor Day weekend on the day of the Timbers v Seattle game during Labor Day weekend! This place is truly special, I loved the jerseys on the walls and fútbol decorations! Staff was also very friendly and put on all of the MLS games that were live! I recommend all fútbol fans to stop by and see for yourself!

This sports bar is what a real neighborhood bar should be. You have great sports games on and the banter that comes with it. You have great events such as comedy nights, dog shows and trivia nights. The food is good and the services is great. The atmosphere makes you feel at home and welcomed everytime you come in. We all interact with one another and act like a family whether you're a regular, new to the bar or the staff. Thank you for your continuous service and I love you give our community ❤️

Best spot in town to catch any soccer games! And Pete the owner is a super great guy.

I didn’t have food but I did come for a comedy night. I went to the bar for a cider and waited for the bartender to acknowledge me. Shortly there after, a Caucasian woman came up. Bartender took her order before me even though a kind lady at the bar was motioning to bartender that I had gotten to the bar first. If I hadn’t already paid for my ticket to the comedy show, I would have left. Being black is like being invisible. Just a shadow existing.😅Definitely won’t be back.

I love this place for international matches. It may very well be the top soccer pub experience in the NW. They also have a covered outdoor area for bigger matches. It can get packed for big matches… come ready to cheer.

A bar trying to impress beyond its capabilities. Lamest attempt at Peruvian food I've seen. Looks okay but that's it Fried food served cold, greasy and burned. Terribly uncomfortable seating. A sophomoric attempt at haute cuisine. They other reviewers must still have been drunk when they reviewed this bar. These people made what they thought was kauza. It was basically potato salad with hard-boiled eggsAnd shrimp mixed with mayonnaise and ketchup. Yes you heard me ketchup Whoever thought up this recipe out of. Whoever thought up this recipe Needs to beNeeds to be slappedbar

This is the coolest soccer bar to go to in Portland. I love it. The vibes, the energy, the friendly staff, the informative manager who gave me a comprehensive briefing about the world cup schedule before I make my visit. Thank you Tom!

Great atmosphere for watching the Thorns play away games! TVs inside and one outside with lots of seating. Good idea to get there early to ensure somewhere to sit. Only downside is there only one bathroom. Polite staff and quick service. The Spicy Chicken Sliders w/ fries was AMAZING and a perfect serving size! Interested in going here for brunch sometime. Will definitely go here again for a game. 10/10
