"With its glistening meats suspended in the window and its crisp white tablecloths that beg to be painted with chilli oil, Gold Mine is a classic Cantonese restaurant in Queensway where families, friends, and solo slurpers have long, lazy meals. The dim sum selection is top-tier: chicken claws glazed in a slick, umami-ish black bean sauce, nourishing congee with shredded pork, and house-made egg custard tarts. You can get a taster from one of their dim sum platters in the evening." - jake missing, heidi lauth beasley, rianne shlebak
"With glistening meats that hang suspended in the window and crisp white tablecloths that beg to be painted with chilli oil, Gold Mine is a comforting Cantonese restaurant. The Queensway spot has a constant flow of families, friends, and solo slurpers. The daytime dim sum selection is excellent, but rock up at dinner with as many people as possible—the big round banquet tables deserve it." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak, daisy meager, sinead cranna
"Gold is a three-storey townhouse in Notting Hill hiding a light and modern conservatory with palm trees, a rooftop terrace, and more terracotta linen than your rustic dining room Pinterest board. In summer, blood orange Negronis are clinked politely and drinks stream out from the sleek, spritz-ready bar. The food is modern European, which means seasonal tarted-up vegetables, zesty raw fish numbers, and hearty wood-roasted meat and whole fish dishes." - jake missing, heidi lauth beasley, sinead cranna, daisy meager
"This is where you go to stop a bad day from turning into a bad night. Gold Mine is a Cantonese banquet-style spot of the most old-school variety, and the comforting combination of low ceilings, gold-detailed chairs, red carpet, and tender char siu pork is sure to put you in a proverbial good place. You won’t need to book, and because there’s a steady stream of people at this all-day spot in Queensway, you’ll be inconspicuous too. When it comes to ordering, tender duck with crisp skin, beautifully layered crispy pork belly, and the sweet, thickly sliced char siu are all excellent." - rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, jake missing, heidi lauth beasley
"Gold is a huge three-storey pub and restaurant in Notting Hill that’s far more glossy than your average boozer. We’re talking plush, tan banquette seating, arty murals, foliage, exposed brick, and an open-roof conservatory that is basically the Garden of Eden if Marie Kondo gave it a good tidy up. It’s also a people-pleaser, with a menu that includes things like roasted sweet potatoes with chimichurri, braised short rib agnolotti, as well as a feta, grape, and shallot salad. There’s Amalfi lemon tart for pudding too." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak
