Old fashion diner with great service and yummy food. We were in Reno visiting family and had brunch there. It feels like an old fashion diner that brings me back to my college days. We were seated immediately and the service was great. They serve you a very generous portion with quality on par with similar type of diners. Coffee is a little on the weak side but acceptable. I had steak and eggs but my son's rib eye was more tender and I recommend that. Biscuit and gravy is great definitely a high light. A good casual diner that worth a visit.

Came here despite not being sold on the atmosphere. The server was great, super friendly staff. The ribeye 14lb I had was the second best streak I've eaten out! (like no joke). The garlic fries where also amazing. A friend had peanut and banana milkshake was amazing! Over all the staff, food taste and portion makes up for the lack of atmosphere. Highly recommend.

It’s changed… for the better! We used to go here regularly, but last year the food got steadily worse. However, we decided to try it again, and the quality has *greatly* improved! Our server, Reen, was friendly and efficient and Tomas made sure that our coffee was always full. The chicken fried steak is fabulous and even the signature chocolate pistachio cake is back its yummy goodness. (Okay, the weird aluminum serving pans instead of plates that they use for lunch are off-putting, but I can live with it if the food is good.) Overall, it seems to be back to the good, solid comfort food that it used to be. Between that and the fantastic staff, it’s a great place again!

Google
Old diner/inn. Counter-top and tables available. I had their 2 egg breakfast with bacon, homefries, and sourdough bread. It was ok. My husband had their biscuits and gravy with hashbrowns. It was ok but needed salt and pepper. The coffee was not good. Friendly service.

We’ve been coming here once a year for around six years. We loved the biscuits and browns, but unfortunately our last visit a few days ago was awful. The booth was horrible with huge holes that made it was super uncomfortable. The lady at the front seated us and it was like we were completely forgotten about!. Didn’t ask us if we wanted drinks until they came to take our order, and the food wasn’t very good. The gravy was nasty and flavorless.. Luckily we found a way better place not too far away. Go to “Two Chicks” you will not be disappointed!! Amazing food and service!. And the place is adorable!! We will not be going back to this restaurant during our future visits to this great city!.

Google
Visiting from out of town & a friend recommended we stop here. When you walk in, you step right into the 1970's. Keeping that old Reno vibe alive & it's great! The servers and staff were very nice. Although it took a little while to get our food, it was very very good! I personally had the veggie lovers quiche and it was soooooo good!

Google
I love this place, 1st time here. I had the Tri-tip sandwich with mashed potatoes with brown gravy and a chocolate milkshake, it was great and so so good. My Server Trish was amazing, she kept checking on me to make sure that I was doing okay. Old classic dinner feel I’d call this place. It was a great first experience. I will definitely be coming back here when I’m in the area. They give you extra for your milkshake!!!! It’s like having two of them.

Google
It's a good diner. We eat there fairly often. The service is good & so is the food. They have great milkshakes. I recommend a chocolate/caramel/banana shake! My fiancé always gets chicken fried steak & sometimes it is better than others. I like the 2 eggs/bacon/hash browns & toast, or the corned beef hash breakfast.

Yelp
I have been going to GnS for years. The food is great, prices are great, staff are mostly great. A group of us went in tonight to find a new menu. They have changed the name of some favorites and raised price while serving less food portions. We were also told that they will no longer do split checks. My friends and I eat there often after attending a meeting nearby, so them not doing split checks for us means we cannot go anymore. Also, no more pie! Sorry J group, you just lost some long time customers. I will miss the waitresses the most.

Yelp
Food is good diner food and generous portions. The waitress was efficient and very friendly. Good casual ambience.

Yelp
tried to eat here tonight at 11:20pm and they said they're were close without any explanation. website says 12am. i ended up at jack n the box down street. no wonder this place never called my attention. horrible service step your game up

Yelp
We ate here just before Thanksgiving, and then again this weekend. In between that time, they've gotten a new (more limited) menu. First off, the service this weekend was excellent. Friendly, timely and food came out just as ordered. The restaurant is brighter and cheerier than it was under the old owners. However, the old menu had many many more options. The new menu is much more limited. Pretty much only heart attacks on a plate. If you're looking for healthy choices, you probably want to keep looking.

Yelp
We ate our Christmas evening meal here. Incredibly slow with very limited wait staff in hand BUT every staff member we did encounter was so kind and friendly, and the food was outstanding! Plus mile-high whipped cream on the hot chocolate!

Jane C.

Yelp
Dear Jacobs entertainment, thanks for not bulldozing this Reno institution. But do you have to slowly destroy it instead? We used to love this place, but it's so sad now.
google avatar

Yelp
If you want to step back in time and experience the nostalgia of good diner experience. This is your spot. My friend ordered the turkey dinner. She raved at the juicy slices of scrumptious turkey. Unfortunately my pork chops were not living up to its reputation. In the past visits I have heard amazing reviews. It was definitely burnt and the sauce was over cooked. The salad was great as was the broccoli. Maybe on my next visit to Reno I will try it again
google avatar

Nancy V.

Yelp
The restaurant was clean. Our server, Laureen, was friendly and attentive. She apologized for our food taking so long. Nice touch. My sourdough melt was good, but I would have liked my onions to be cooked more. I asked for them well done. Also, I still wish they would bring back the soup varieties. That's the reason I took off 1 star. All the staff is always friendly and professional. I recommend this place to all, especially locals.

Yelp
Disappointed ! ! ! Was 5 stars & now 2 stars. New ownership (J's) has struck again.. Service is now approaching horrible. It took 15+ minutes before the server arrived at the table.. They are destroying the menu starting with doing away with a different delicious homemade soup each day (after 68 years) .. Every time we come into Gold and Silver, something else has been discontinued from the menu. The ambience is also on a downhill slide. The carpet has deteriorated to a point where it looks black where it's walked on. ** Finally we had to watch security throw 2 obnoxious thugs out of the restaurant that were reeking of marijuana & loudly threatening other elderly customers.. This business was a locally owned FAMILY restaurant since 1956 then recently bought out by a large casino that's new to Reno.. We've never seen a business go downhill so quickly.

Yelp
It is disappointing this old staple is spiraling downhill. I love the waitresses in here, but the management really has put huge stress on the cooks and waitresses. They are always too busy and understaffed, therefore the food is sitting in the pass getting cold and all you can do is look at it and weep. I'd recommend NOT having the mac and cheese, very rubbery and bland. The food handling in the kitchen must be getting sloppy because I felt sick for a while after eating here. Very slow and mediocre these days.

Yelp
Same great food, same great service, same great atmosphere, same huge portions, new owners! When the original owner said he was retiring and sold the place to the new owners...then the new owners started hinting about closing it...this town flew into an uproar to defend this iconic restaurant! The new owners heard us and decided to keep it open and intact...for which we're all glad... To recap from my previous review...open 24/7/365 for over 60 years...featured on Diners Drive-Ins And Dives with Guy Fieri on the Food Network...old school coffee shop/diner vibe...I always sit at the counter and the service is still impeccable, the food is delicious, the portions are large...it's my late night go-to...especially for my favorite, biscuits and gravy. The ONLY change that I'm not happy about? The new owners don't let the staff wear their iconic branded t-shirts anymore when they're working. I try to wear mine every time I visit. What more can be said except that we ALL need to continue to support this place so the new owners will have no excuse but to keep it open! Get by there now...and often!

Yelp
I've been watching DDD and I saw this local gem. The decor is no frills and mid-century diner. Our server was a nice older woman who was super attentive and sweet. I had to try the ground beef pounder and boy was it a lot. The mashed potatoes were to die for and had the red skins which I like, it was creamy, well seasoned, with the perfect balance of smooth and potato chunk. The ground pounder itself was a huge chunk of meat- nice char flavor but could use some salt. The gravy was delish. I did not eat much of it because I was too full from my soup, shake, and wings. We also ordered wings and the garlic parm wings were huge, crispy, but lacked flavor to me. You get hit with the garlic oil and parm but it needs a binder or more seasoning- I asked for a side of the mahogany sauce and tossed my wings in it and they were perfect. I also got a chocolate shake and it was one of the best shakes I've had- came in extra shaker so you basically get two milkshakes for the price of $7.50. I would come back just for the shake alone tbh. I will come back.

Yelp
This place is completely gross from the pee and feces everywhere in the bathroom's ; to the food that they put in the microwave that they than serve to people' also seen multiple cockroaches running on the floor of the restaurant ' they really need a inspection because it looks worse than a prison cell block'. Tall waitress with red hair was very rude and refused to serve me ' she also smelled bad of body odor just and cigerrates overall a bad place to dine on vacation '

Yelp
I was on my way back to Sac over the hill coming from Fernley, and I was told I needed to check out the iconic Reno institution, Gold N Silver Inn, that been here for decades. It was featured on TV by that blonde spiky haired buffoon yammer'in on about how good the place was. I don't put a lot of credit in the guy or his crass style, but hey to each their own. I'll make up my own mind after experiencing this Reno "institution". Speaking of institution, that's the immediate feeling I got upon entering the Gold N Silver. Institutional cafeteria setting with the lack of interesting decor and those damn florescent lights! We were told just sit anywhere in the middle area ringed by generic booths. The server was over right away, but wasn't all that friendly, efficient kinda like a Chinese restaurant. I don't need chain restaurant faux friendly, but comm'on smile a little? I browsed the menu before arriving online, so I kind of knew what I'd like to try. I came with one friend, I dropped the rest of my crew at the new In N Out up the street. We both ordered the Sierra Burger ($17.00) a 12 oz (3/4 lb.) burger patty served with cheese and grilled onions on a buttered and toasted French roll. Served with a side salad as my side .... trying to be a bit healthier than having a pile of fries! What I pictured in my mind was far from what we received. The salad was fine, but the burger .... It was served on a soft squishy French type roll with lettuce, tomato and totally unmelted cheese. The meat appeared not to be a single formed 12 oz patty, but mushed together 2 smaller patties. We were so hungry, we just started eating, but after eating some, we both noticed, hey, wasn't this supposed to come with grilled onions? Yeah, they forgot the damn onions on both of the burgers. Grilled onions are my fave part of a burger! Too, late now, we ate half our meals .... but the kitchen should have made it right! Shit, I'd been better off going to the In N Out with the rest of my crew. They add the grilled onions! These burgers were definitely not worth $17.00 bucks each! I'd pay up to $20 bucks for a great burger, but this sure wasn't it! Reno iconic institution my butt, this place needs to just close down or do a total remake. I've run into other places like this, old time places that survive somehow on old customers that just don't wanna change despite better options out there. Geeze, change out that cafeteria florescent lighting! 2 stars is being very generous here!

James G.

Yelp
Another one of those go to places. Food and service is always good. As they say the difference between Deny's and Gold N Silver is Gold 'N Silver cook. Staff does a great job making this a great place to eat.

Linda C.

Yelp
They took the original burger, milkshake and fries off the menu! Was $20. Now $17 A BIG RIP OFF. They changed it from a half a pound to a quarter pound hardly a burger at all! you get a VERY SMALL Portion of fries fries it was a wonderful place and a fun place to go will NOT return. JACOBS has ruined a WONDERFUL PLACE

Yelp
UPDATE ... manager fixed it for me. Juat double check everything u get and taste it in the early morning hours. It just gets worse and worse. Staff couldn't even answer what time the daily special starts I got charged full price at 230 of the day of the special. Lasagna was watery no cheese. They look like they slapped some noodles and spaghetti sause together and a bit of cottage cheese. No cheese top. It was alot better before the switch.
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
The food quality is extremely poor. Ordered chicken strips and they smelled and tasted terrible. Remade and same result. Obviously purchasing cheap ingredients. $18 is insane for food I wouldn't even serve to a dog. All of the food went straight into the trash. Please never eat here.

Yelp
The food was good here. The restaurant doesn't look like much on the outside. However, a friend who was meeting us for dinner recommended this place as a good one prior to attending a full evening of concerts at the nearby Glow Plaza. Parking was convenient, too. We had a choice of center tables or a side booth, so we chose the booth. The server gave us time to peruse the menu, chat a bit, and then order. Our friend, anticipating the cooler evening temps and the likelihood of a little light rain during the course of the evening concerts said his plan was to order Mac 'n cheese, plus a side of chili and cornbread. Mix 'em together with cheese sprinkles and sour cream, and you've created a generous helping of chili Mac! That sounded good to me! I unabashedly copied his order. The bf opted for the three ground meats shepherds pie. The food was served very quickly, which was great since we were hungry. The chili Mac hit the spot. I don't know how I did it, but I managed to eat it all but the corn bread (but I wrapped it in a napkin for later). I got to have a taste of the shepherds pie...and it was delicious, too. I will definitely be back here for a pre-event meal at future outdoor concerts in the neighborhood.

Yelp
As you may know, Gold 'n Silver is under new ownership. They recently closed for a couple of days to change over. I am happy to report that nothing has changed. No brand new staff, menu, food, prices or tables. If you love GnS, you will still love GnS. I hope that this how they keep it.

Yelp
Went today, got Eggs Bene, the legendary home fries replaced and now come from a bag, super small 1 inch by 1 inch identical frozen potatoes, with no flavor, anywhere else, they might be suitable, but since the potatoes were legendary home fries, it's a huge loss, the Egg Bene was good, ham thick plenty of hollandaise sauce, color was different, but tasted okay, the big flop was sausage bisquits gravy, the sausage patty comes premade from a package, super salty, no flavor, the gravy has no sausage in it, flavorless and bland, the biscuit not memorable or tasty, three stars because it is a classic Institution, but you shouldn't mess with what was already perfect, glad to see the 30-year+ busser is still working there and the coffee's still good, at least they didn't change that, service was adequate, order and food arrived promptly, no check back, but not a biggie, the super star busser was on the job, bringing coffee on the regular, its missing the vibe, but still glad it's here hopefully they bring back the classics we all we love!

Ingeborg T.

Yelp
This is the second time in 4 weeks I was served not the quality food I expected. the first round, the French fries had a fishy aftertaste. the second round, the bacon, 10 seconds longer would be charcoal, the sausage patty, also deep fried, could have been used to fix someone's shoes. The toast was cold and not even the butter melted. I did not know to deep fry bacon and sausage patties. I had to wait for 30 minutes to get my order with no other orders posted on the wheel. Even the waitress was getting impatient why it took so long - because the bacon was frying in the deep frier. In the past this place was the one to go. However, quality control does not exist anymore.

Yelp
I think it was mention of the Gold 'N Silver from "Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives" that caught my attention. I tried once to set up a "couples date" here, but Marti demurred about the ambiance and the neighborhood. Then I read about the developer who purchased the property and wondered how long I would have to pay this place a visit. Gayle and I got our chance this morning. We dropped off our granddaughter (who was visiting from Indiana) @RNO at 6 AM and then headed off to Gold N' Silver. This place opened in 1956 and bills itself as the city's "oldest casual restaurant." A couple early observations: - Gold N' Silver is just off Downtown (to the West) and is apparently part of the evolving "Neon Line" neighborhood. Based on the sign on the door and bathroom security, management is very diligent about potential panhandling or "street people" walking in. But visually (at least during the day), the neighborhood looks fine. - The seating/tables and dividers are definitely old school diner, but I found the interior of the restaurant to be clean and well maintained. During out stay, we enjoyed the ambiance. Ad for breakfast: - Our server was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Coffee was refilled regularly and our order was taken promptly and delivered relatively quickly. - The menu (they're open 24 hours) offered lots of options. Breakfast is on the back, with the list of sides on one of the inside pages. - Their Bloody Mary was $6 which Gayle very much enjoyed. - Our breakfast selections were well portioned and delicious. I had eggs, sausage links, fruit, and a biscuit, while Gayle couldn't finish her huge omelet. I'm sure I'll be back (with or without Gayle or our Reno friends). There's nothing like comfort food served at a favorite diner or deli.

Yelp
My friend recommended this restaurant. It's famous for being Reno's first family restaurant. Been around since 1950s... and it is looks like it. But it's a nice diner (or drive-in or dive) with pretty good food. I ordered the chicken fried chicken. Which is still an odd name. It came with a tasty gravy. It actually reminded me of a real good schnitzel. I ordered garlic fried for a $1 extra. Be forewarned, there's a lot of garlic here. I couldn't eat it all. Also got sliced tomatoes. Service was good. Speaking of diners, drive-ins, and dives; Guy Fieri visited this place and tried their Pounder burger (yep 16 oz) and Lemonade Pork Chops. I haven't seen the episode, but now I'm interested.

Yelp
Not even sure how to start this one. It took 30 minutes to have a waitress come take our order and then she served it to the wrong table so they remade it. It came in peace's my son got half his order then my daughter got hers French toast for it to be cold my chicken fried steak was rubbery and tasted like flower my mom was served someone else's food and had to wait another 5 minutes for her. Not a great experience and I'm hoping no one else will have this experience but wow what a production of what can happen will. 2 hours later we're finally leaving.

Yelp
Without a very strong recommendation from a friend whose opinion I value, we never would have stopped by here for a quick bite to eat based on the exterior. Once inside, yes, we were greeted by some slot machines and a 50/60's decor. Extremely outdated, and we loved it. This was old Biggest Little City in the World Reno. The sign instructed us to seat ourselves, so we chose a small booth by the counter and watched this cracker-jack team work. Busy bees at work never stopped for a second. Hubby ordered a cup of chili, which came with an overstuffed cornbread muffin. As I'm always looking for a delicious chile, I had to have a bite (or two, or three...). It was clearly homemade and the best I can remember ever eating. I had the loaded baked potato, and they gave me so many loads I could't finish them all. Sweet, kind servers who never stopped moving. We will be back soon. Great team, great restaurant.

Yelp
Gold n Silver is a lifelong favorite of mine. As a Reno local this place holds memories galore for me and my family. I'm super disappointed to see how things are slowly changing at Gold N Silver now that Jacobs has taken over. While I'm certainly glad they're keeping it open, I'm having a hard time understanding the changes they're making. They brought in enormous and overstimulating slot machines for the lobby, removed a good deal of the kitsch and clutter from the cash wrap and the vibe is not the same. (We want our greasy-spoon to stay greasy, know what I mean?) The most disappointing thing is the decrease in ingredient quality. Everything I have ordered on two recent videos was touched in some way by ingredient changes. Everything from fries, potatoes, home fries, lettuce, tomato, avocado, has gone way downhill or is just completely missing. My Cobb salad (plated differently for some reason?) didn't have any avocado. My husband and daughter got club sandwiches that were missing bacon entirely, and they've swapped their fries for something different. The old ones were very good. These ones are fine. The home fries are now little pre-frozen fry nugget things. My friend ordered potatoes Obrien and they put the frozen fry nuggets on a plate with fajita style peppers and onions on top. So many items have been changed 10-20% and the experience eating at Gold N Silver now suffers from an extreme loss of familiarity. Quite the loss. The staff is still legendary. We love them and we know they're doing their best. I'll never understand business owners who sacrifice quality and nostalgia for few cents of added profit. Jacobs has proven over and over that they're willing to do just about anything harmful to Reno's longstanding and beloved people and places so they can make a buck.

Yelp
After reading a few fellow elites' reviews, we decided to come here for brunch. We were not disappointed. For starters, we had the fried zucchini and mozzarella sticks. They were both simple yet satisfying our cravings for oily food. We also had chili which was ok. It was a bit thick for our liking. For entrees, we had the tri tip sandwich. The slices of the tri tip was a bit dry. The lasagna was great - it was saucy and cheesy. It came out sizzling hot! The chicken pot pie was tasty. The flaky puff pastry made the dish! You cannot go wrong wrong with the fried chicken. Lastly, the chicken fried steak was amazing! Next time, I would order the gravy in the side. Overall, this joint was a great stop for a diner brunch!

Yelp
Absolutely horrible service and management. This used to be one of my favorite places to eat. Their food was great, milkshakes were phenomenal, and service was very good. HOWEVER, under new management/staff I am so disappointed with this restaurant. I took my family for breakfast on Father's Day (2024) and tried to order my favorite dish, biscuits and gravy. The server was kind enough to tell me that the biscuits were far too hard, so I chose another item. My girlfriend and daughters ordered shakes and breakfast as well, yet after an hour and 15 minutes we had only received the milkshakes...so we decided to leave. The server informed us that the staff and management were new, and please try them again in a couple weeks when they got more organized. Because I LOVED this establishment, I waited 3 months and tried again. My girlfriend and I went for lunch on Sunday when it was very slow, and after receiving water, we waited almost an hour and decided to walk out without even having had our orders taken. There were many open tables, and at least 4 servers walking around yet not one of them took out orders. I learned my lesson and won't ever go back. Too bad too, because the food and service a year ago was phenomenal. So long Gold n Silver!

Yelp
Always a favorite! I sometimes forget about this place, but I'm never disappointed. It is a Reno institution when it comes to comfort food. The menu offers 24 hour breakfast for openers. The rest of the menu offerings include burgers, sandwiches, appetizers, dinners fare like fried chicken or meatloaf, and the best pies you will find in the area. I'm partial to chocolate cream. I should also mention that they have about a dozen milkshake flavors. As in the old fashioned style milkshakes. You can even mix flavors like strawberry and banana or chocolate and coconut. Service is sometimes slow, so don't go if you are in a time crunch. But if you want a relaxing meal and time to enjoy your friend's company, this is the place. We spent over 2 hours enjoying our meal and catching up. Servers will happily do separate checks, not rush you out to clear your table, and servers are great. Plenty of parking too. And they do to-go orders. Now that I've reacquainted myself with Gold n Silver, I plan to be a regular.

Lisa E.

Yelp
Hands down the best biscuits and gravy I've ever eaten! Excellent corned beef hash too. Great service and great prices. This will be our new must-go breakfast spot when we come to Reno!

Yelp
I really wanted to give a better review to this restaurant. We were visiting Reno and saw that this place on yelp and that it was on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Unfortunately, the service was not great. They basically had one waiter for multiple tables. I saw some other employees there, but I didn't see that they were working any tables at all. We rarely saw our waiter and the person who was really helping us was the bus boy. At the end of the night we actually left him a tip in person because he was the real MVP! I got the fried steak with mashed potatoes. It came with a piece of lettuce and a carrot on the side. And I got some soup. The meatball soup was good. It was definitely interesting though. The fried steak was not very hot and it just didn't taste right. It definitely seems like it was possibly frozen as well. The gravy was okay but there was something off about it. I ended up not finishing my meal. Shortly after we left the restaurant I ended up not feeling very well and getting sick. My boyfriend got a simple spaghetti with meat sauce. I didn't even have to taste his meal to know that those noodles on his plate were either old or sitting out all day. When I finally tasted it, I immediately knew that those were not even fresh noodles. We both did not finish our food. We kept waiting, so long for a waiter. I almost complained, but it wasn't even worth the time. I finally flag down the bus boy and asked him if he can Please help us find the waiter because I didn't want to get up and look around for him. We must've been waiting about 25 minutes before he acknowledged us and told us he was bringing us our bill. It's definitely an old time style restaurant. The carpet definitely need to be updated. It were really dirty. Didn't get too loud. It is a pretty large restaurant. Plenty of seating. The bathrooms were nice. Could use a little tidying up. They did have a couple slot machines in the restaurant. When we first came in the restaurant we were greeted. Nobody took us to our seats, we did pick our seats where they told us. They mentioned a general area for us to pick. They do have their own parking lot. The entrance is on the side of the building from the parking lot. Unfortunately, we will be back here if we visit the area. For the restaurant, being not so busy, it shocked me to have the experience that we did.

Yelp
Gold 'N Silver Inn is like a shining beacon in the middle of the night. Its been around for years and years and is very well known. But you won't see it too busy and can always find a good spot depending on when you go. For me, it's one of the best late night food spots in Reno. It's also one of the few places that still serves legitimate diner style food, and not just the Sysco specials. Their pies are amazing too and all made in house as far as I know. The place is like a portal to old Reno, and you just get a comfortable, homey feeling when you sit down and eat inside. Like you know in that hour or two you'll be taken care of! The staff are always so gracious and helpful, and cater to that hometown diner feel by acting more like a friend rather than a customer service representative. I always find myself glad to be in this place on the random times I end up there.

Yelp
The dinner i had yesterday was the best I have ever had. Seriously, this is not hyperbalie. And the servers were like sorting down with family. A real classic American restaurant.

Yelp
Such a great locals place - wholesome, great quality food, large portions. Went there for a breakfast meeting - a group of 25 of us. The servers were so patient and efficient and gladly gave us all separate checks. My husband and I share a Denver omelet that was full of diced ham and veggies. It was humongous- even split in half - it was a formidable omelet. Crispy hash-browns and sour dough toast rounded out the plate. Our friends loved their Eggs Benedict, French Toast and Biscuits and Gravy. Even the coffee was really good!

Yelp
First time there. Food portions were huge. Prices kinda high. Food was ok. Little too salty for my liking. Needs a facelift. Manager on duty was very attentive. Neither good nor bad experience.

Yelp
I've never felt so unwelcome going into a restaurant until I came to Gold N silver. I waited 15 minutes for This old giant white beach to take my order because she was too busy being a social butterfly on every table. She keeps walking past me and even had time to chop it up with the cook over the counter and just keep staring at me. When she finally decided to come, she literally stood there without saying anything, no hi, hello or even "can I take your order" like any normal waitress would say. She was just literally looking dead into my eyes. I had to ask her "are you ready?" After my food had arrived, the food was wrong. I'm hungry and I wanted to get her attention right away but the beach was so busy talking to customers on the other table. It took awhile for me to look around and realize I was the only Asian there and the rest were all white. I've never met such a rude waitress like this old racist white beach!

Yelp
5/14/2022 Visited before long ago.. After spending a few hours with my stylist, she mentioned she recently ate here for Mother's Day.. So here I am.. Lots of menu items... (where Robert Irving ) might say it's a little overwhelming.. But for me, it had just about enough to decide from.. I went back between the burger and shake special, and the chicken fried chicken.. Let's just say my chicken fried chicken was perfect where I could cut with my fork, and packed with just enough of the right seasoning.. gravy was delish.. would go nicely over rice! Also orders light grilled pork chop with mashed potatoes.. very tasty and cooked just right! Just ordered the chocolate shake and I added a little peanut butter.. Definitely bringing my son !

Yelp
Go back to original recipes and old management...your staff is good but who ever changed your recipes your FOOD IS TRASH. Our bill was 150.00 only the kids actually ate their food (chicken strips) pancakes , chicken and waffles , French dip , chicken fried steak were not worth the price ... disappointed we've been coming for over 10 years . Black bear dinner is cheaper and better quality . Your employees are amazing tho

Yelp
Our server was very friendly and great at getting us drinks. The ambiance is a more diner style restaurant and Self seating. The food portions are very large but the food is decent. We ordered eggs benedict, chicken fried steak and cinnamon roll French toast. The eggs on the benedict were pretty runny. The fried steak was not as flavorful but overall it was decent. Hash browns were under seasoned and they did not taste fresh. The French toast however tasted very delicious! One of the best French toast dishes I've had.

Yelp
I have dine here a couple times & so far my favorites is the garlic parm fries & chicken wings. Chicken wings is perfectly breaded & seasoned. Also to top off the garlic parm fries I always order a side of brown gravy which is a great combination to dip fries in. Recommend food choices.

Yelp
It's a really great old style diner. I found the wait staff incredibly friendly and accommodating. I happen to be in Reno for a sporting event with my daughter who's 15 and we went there on a whim just driving by. It was so good that we went back the very next night and ordered different food. She got a really great sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. She loved the sandwich but did not think the mac and cheese was very good. I ordered a taco salad that was fresh and really good. I also ordered the fried zucchini which was excellent. We both got their gigantic milkshakes, vanilla and strawberry and they were both really good. Overall I would recommend it to anybody who's looking for a diner type place in Reno.

Yelp
Overpriced, but good. If you want a better breakfast there are other options, but this was a convenient option for my friend and I on a Sunday during Street Vibrations. They seemed to have plenty of staff. No bells and whistles here. This is standard American fare, made fresh. I thought the biscuits were quite good. Flaky and tender, great flavor. There was something I didn't love about the gravy though. My eggs came out perfectly over medium, and after two Bloody Mary's and an Irish coffee, we were solidly lit. Might be back, but probably not soon. There are better and more affordable versions of this to be had.

Yelp
We, my daughter, 2-year old grandson, and I, stopped in today for lunch. Wow! What a fantastic staff!!! We were immediately greeted, seated, and watered. Our order came up fast, and everything was great. We had the Sunday special (fried chicken), a chicken breast-Ortega chili sandwich, and a kids meal. It was so good! We have been talking about trying G&S for years. We will definitely be back! And did I mention the staff?

Yelp
There's something about this place that keeps me coming back. Maybe it's the consistent and friendly service, the down home diner dishes, the old downtown Reno vibe, or the nostalgia from eating there after a night of drinking in my college days. The food hits the spot for me. It's nothing fancy, yet it's always tasty. I ordered the BBQ tri tip sandwich with tater tots. It had too much sauce for me but the flavor was on point. The fried chicken was fried perfectly. Each bite was nice and crispy. The macaroni and cheese side dish was ok. A little pinch of salt made it better. The real star at this place is the service. The bussers and servers are all super friendly and I've always been taken care of while dining there.

Yelp
I just went for the first time, ordered sausage and egg omelette The eggs were terrible, and the sausage was black and overcooked. Unless you're a regular there, they ignore you and the food eventually made me sick that night
