Gold Star

My wife and I took 4 family members who live in New Jersey and California and had never eaten Cincinnati Chili to the Gold Star restaurant at 4544 Reading Road, Cincinnati for lunch on Tuesday, June 24. It was a totally wonderful experience. The manager and server were incredibly hospitable and welcoming and made everyone feel at home, explaining the menu and even bringing bibs to protect our clothes. We had 3-Ways, 4-Ways, 5-Ways, Cheese Coneys, and a Vegetarian 3-Way for my sister who doesn’t eat meat. She loved it! As always, the food was delicious and the service impeccable. They are all now “fans” of this great delicacy. Thanks to all at the store for making it special.

Burger week was from 7/7/25-7/13/25 and Gold Star was one of the places that was participating, so I decided to go there in my lunch break and try one. Honestly, y'all, I did not expect this burger to be SOO FRESH and FLAVORFUL❣️ I didn't know they sold burger first of all. It was freshly cooked and seasoned nicely👌. The toppings on the burger were fresh, and crisp. The fries were hot, not burnt or overcooked. The combo was 8$ for the burger, fries, and large drink. I was totally satisfied. If you missed out on burger week, mark your calendars for next yr and go check them out.

The special of $10.99 for 3 cheese coneys with a drink seemed appealing and the food tasted great. The coneys are rather small. Drive thru is always a longer wait than dining in.

We stopped in for burger week. It was a great way to feed the family on a budget. The food was great and service was friendly.

Quick but not very friendly. Went to the drive thru and the cashier handed me my loose change and several hot sauce packets in the same fist dropped some of my loose change on the ground and did not offer to replace it.

We did the burger week burger and seriously one of the best burgers ever. Very caught off guard. Wonderful!

I ordered 2 phony coney,then ordered 2 cheese coney lite onions and heavy mustard. My sister and I received cheese and bread.

I stopped by for a burger and fries. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The restaurant wasn't crowded, so my waiter arrived promptly and brought my drinks quickly. Once I placed my order, it was delicious. The burger was one of the best I've ever had, and the fries were really good. Surprisingly, despite the relatively slow pace, the staff didn't just sit around. Instead, they were busy cleaning and maintaining their work areas, which is a refreshing change in a fast-food restaurant. Entire restaurant was clean. I'll definitely be back to this place!

OMG, the chicken sandwich is incredible. At least that's what my wife said. Our first visit to Gold Star since the dropped Chili from their name. Quick and pleasant service. The food was good. Only downfall, my wife and several other diners too, wanted milkshakes. They were out of milk and the manager was getting some, in theory. He was AWOL. They missed out on at least six shake orders in the short time we were there.

Well, at 6:20 this evening, I arrived to eat dinner here. There were at least four employees watching me as I exited my car with the intention of asking them how they would feel about serving us since their dining room closes at 7:00. It didn't matter since they had already locked the door. I know that the drive through is open later, but I wanted to eat inside. Oh well. Maybe I will try again if the stars align.

I went through the drive thru just to grab vegetarian cheese sandwiches. I considered fries but they were so expensive. If you follow me, you know customer service is big for me. That was fine. The young lady in the drive thru was friendly. She took my order asked if I wanted mustard and onions. Told me my total. Great! I got my sandwiches which looked fine. I bit in and it was cheese with a hint of chili. The first sandwich had such a small amount, I thought I was eating just a cheese sandwich. The second was a little better. I honestly question when this happens if they just don't have enough of the vegetarian chili and trying to make it stretch. In this case, that is what I totally felt. I know they put cheese at the bottom and top, that is fine with me. It's the fact that there was very little chili in the middle. Unfortunately, I was unable to return. I will probably visit this location again just because it is so close to things I do. I will just be clear on instructions with preparing it.

Hubs went to pick up dinner. Asked for a coney for me - no onions, no mustard. (As IB usually get) Got a coney, brought it home, covered in onions & mustard.

The restaurant closes at 1:00 a.m. I arrived at just after 10:00 p.m., and was told that they were only accepting doordash orders. So I can go online and pay more to have someone sit through the drive-thru and pick up the food that I was already there to get. This is so stupid.

Great hospitality! I believe my server name was Tanya. She was so down to earth and chill!! Very humble!! My uncle was with me too, we all enjoyed each other's company. Tanya(I hope that's her name) insisted that she'd let us eat but we just kept conversing. We order our food sloppy, she had extra plates in case it spilled over. She was really on point. S/O to the cook too! They had regulars coming in and she would have there order up A-Sap! I bet there busy on Sunday because that's the only day Tanya works. Her energy attracts people! She's dope!

How normal is it to tell customers at 9:00pm on a Saturday night that you're only taking door dash orders? You know, I thought the location in Hartwell was terrible enough (it burning down did everyone a favor) but after going to THIS location and experiencing the very lazy and rude employees there, maybe this location will have the same fate! I wish I could give it zero stars!

Service is very much a**. Called 10 mins before pulling up to ask if y'all were still open and closing at 1 am, Lady tells me yes. I get there dude says we are closed I say I just called and y'all aren't supposed to close till 1 no response. I pull up to the window yall just ignoring people and laughing it's 4 of y'all and yet y'all felt the need to close a whole hour early. I worked in fast food for 5 years so this isn't me being a b****. Because this isn't the first time. if you can't stay open till 1 change your hours and if y'all so mad to be in fast food change your occupation it isn't anybody else fault.

I visited the drive-through of this Gold Star. The first thing I noticed is how indifferent the drive-through person was when taking my order. It is very apparent that they were not service minded. When I place my order they said they were out of hot sauce and a diet Dr Pepper. When I picked up the food at the drive-through window the attendant looked dirty and rough. He wasn't wearing any kind of uniform either. It was so bad that I considered throwing my order in the garbage and just going somewhere else but I was really hungry and didn't have a lot of time. I will never go back to this Gold Star again. It was a terrible experience.

This is the worst location in the city period...I'm a long time customer of the business as well as business owner. Customer service is out the window the cook to the manager should be fired for complete failure to perform in the service industry. They returned away paying customer and I was threatened by the staff who work there. I'll be getting in touch with they're corporate headquarters.

As I was eating my meal, the server was at the counter eating her meal too. Another table came, and she went to wait on them without washing her hands.... Shouldn't employees eat in a designated area behind the scenes?...Other employees were Drinking in the food prep area...... Isn't this against the board of health?..... This is simple business....I think if the owner was there this would not occur, but he needs a day off too! I like the place but to me, that is unacceptable!

They are very rude and don't let them mess up your order or you will be assed out of your own money so check it out before you leave

Peace of crap place, I ordered a Gordita with 3 Cheese Coneys. They minus the Gordita and just gave me the Coneys but charged for the freaking Gordita also. Fire that ass hole.
